Stardew Valley MBTI x Enneagram: Alex
Following my last post about the Stardew marriage candidates and their MBTI types, I've been learning more about Enneagram, how it pairs with MBTI, and how it changes some of the typical characteristics of each type.
The Enneagram and MBTI complement each other wonderfully, providing greater depth and understanding of how a person interacts with the world [Cognitive Functions] and their motivations why [Core Desire/Core Fear]. So without further ado, here are my thoughts on each marriage candidate's Enneagram paired with their MBTI, starting with Alex.
Alex - ESTP 3w2: âThe Ultimate Showmanâ
âESTP 3w2 lives for the limelight and adoration. However, thereâs more. The ESTP 3w2 is goal-oriented with a touch of generosity. They are the game-changers and dealbreakers. Because they have type 2 as a wing, they also want appreciation for their heroics. They turn the aggressive nature of the ESTP into something more entertaining to watch.â â Personality Hunt
Alexâs Core Desire: To be successful
The core desire of the ESTP 3w2 is to be successful. Alex's dream is to become a professional gridball player -- and enjoy all the fame and fortune that comes with it. He measures his success and sense of self-worth on external admiration and appreciation from others.
"You know, I used to want fame and fortune, but lately I've been starting to sing a different tune.â
âYes... I know. That's why I've been so determined to be successful with my sports stuff...Make it or not... As long as I try my hardest, I think [my mom]'d be proud. Thanks.â
Alexâs Core Fear: To be seen as a failure
The core fear of the ESTP 3w2 is to be seen as a failure. Alex fears being viewed as a failure or worthless, especially by those closest to him. He perceives his sense of failure or worthlessness from external criticism or other's lack of appreciation [whether real or not].
â⌠[my dad] ruined everything for me and my mom⌠he'd drink all night and tell me I'm worthless, that I'd never amount to anything.â
âThat's insane. You're just jealous that I'm talented and popular and you're not.â ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
How Enneagram 3w2 changes typical ESTP behaviour: New Strengths
1. Extra Charming
ESTPs are naturally charming, but ESTP 3w2s take this to a new level. Type 3s are excellent at persuasion and subtle manipulation, enhancing the ESTP's natural Extroverted Feeling [Fe] ability to woo and flatter others.
Examples:
âHey, now that's what I'm talking about! You're cooler than I thought.â
"Heard you caught some kind of rare fish? I'm impressed. Your arms must be stronger than they look! pinch ⌠not bad!"
"Hey, Farmer. Did you do something different with your hair? Something keeps grabbing my attention.",
"Hey, you look like you're getting into some good shape this summer! All that farm work is paying off, huh?"
2. More Helpful
Type 2s are known for being helpful, and because of this, ESTP 3w2s often find joy in helping others. Their motives might sometimes be questionable due to being type 3 but mature 3w2s can make generous and inspiring leaders.
Examples:
âIf I ever make a lot of money, I'll make sure all my friends and family are taken care of. That means you, too.â
âI've been setting aside a few scraps for Dusty. He deserves a treat now and then.â
"Hey, honey! I made you a hot breakfast. If you want to get strong, you have to eat like you mean it!â "I'm still getting used to cooking and doing laundry⌠It's not exactly my favorite, but I knew what I was getting into when I married you." "There's a couple things around the house that I'm going to try and fix today. Don't worry about me, I'm not bored."
3. More Tactful
ESTPs are known for being blunt and tactless, but 3w2s realize that to help get what they want, being tactful has benefits. This only applies if they want to get close to someone or if it's with someone they respect. With everyone else, they typically don't care.
Examples:
âOh wow...your shoes are a little dirty... but that's fine, too! Different people have different tastes I guess.â [Four Hearts] [Beach invite accept] "Of course you do. If you didn't I'd think you were crazy. Or some kind of nerd" [Beach invite rejection] "Really? You must be some kind of weirdo."
4. Better Work Ethic
The combination of Type 3 and ESTP makes them highly self-motivated and goal-oriented. As a result, ESTP 3w2s are true powerhouses of determination who go hard for their beliefs and stop at nothing to achieve their dreams.
Examples:
"I'm going to be the first professional gridball player from Stardew Valley⌠There's no doubt in my mind. I already led my school's team to the regional playoffs⌠Now I'm just training and getting stronger so I can claim my spot on the roster of the Zuzu City Tunnelers. You just wait!
5. More Disciplined
ESTPs aren't the most organized people, but because of the ESTP 3w2s' need to be successful, they are a bit more disciplined than typical ESTPs; However, they still tend to be scatterbrained in other aspects of life.
Examples:
âI'm going to do two hundred sit-ups tonight. I'm pretty dedicated, aren't I?â
âOh, I almost forgot! It's my day for doing push-ups! Every time I do push-ups I try to do one more than last time.â âYou have to work really hard if you want to achieve your maximum potential.â
â My arms are really sore, but that's the sign of progress for a guy like me. I must've done a thousand push-ups yesterday.â
"Sorry my room is so messy. It's just hard to always remember to clean. I'm trying to get better, though."
6. Better Fashion Sense
Due to their primary function [Extroverted Sensing], ESTPs typically have an eye for beauty or aesthetically pleasing things. ESTP 3w2s, however, take their appearance much more seriously than just simple appreciation. Because type 2s and 3s are highly concerned with public appearances and reputation, ESTP 3w2s have a strong sense of fashion.
Examples:
âDid you get new pants? You're doing something right.â
âDid you do something different with your hair? Something keeps grabbing my attention.â
âIf my hair wasn't so popular with the ladies, I swear I'd shave it all off in a second.â
"There's some weird people living in this townâŚlike that guy Sebastian. Why does he wear black all the time? I don't get it."
New Weaknesses
1. Loss of Identity/Self-Awareness
ESTP 3w2s are masters at adapting to people's desires and emotions but they also risk losing their sense of self in others. As a result, ESTPs wear a facade for long periods. And when they have to drop the mask, they can't remember who they are.
Examples:
"I've started to realize that⌠well, that I've been really rude towards you in the past. You know, about going pro and all that. I guess I might not actually be cut out for professional sports⌠maybe it was just a childish dream⌠you know? " "Look at all these books. I haven't read a single one. Just the thought of cracking one open makes me nervous. But you can't make a decent living in this world without a brainâŚI'm worthlessâŚ"
2. Need for External Validation
Because ESTP 3w2s are self-image-focused, they highly value motivation and encouragement through external validation - it gives them the drive to keep pushing. The dangerous side is that they can view their accomplishments as less valuable if they don't receive recognition for their efforts. They can fish for compliments or get cranky if they don't feel appreciated. At worst, this can lead to serious self-doubt. But ESTPs are tenacious and will quickly bounce back regardless.
Examples:
"*sniff*... "Oh⌠Farmer. You saw me crying. ... "So⌠What are you thinking right now? "Well, there's no sense sitting around sniveling⌠let's head back to town. "Um⌠Farmer? Don't tell anyone I was crying. Okay?"
âHey, can I ask you something? Do you think the ladies like my haircut?â
âHey, I've been practicing twice as hard so I can turn pro and prove you wrong. You just wait.â
"Well, I'm not going to give up! If I work hard, I can do anything!"
3. Mild/Moderate People-Pleasing
"The need to be appreciated and to excel makes the ESTP 3w2s mild people-pleasers. However, make no mistake. The act of people-pleasing is only done when it benefits them. This personality type is always playing the long game. If people pleasing can get them there, so be it." - Personality Hunt
Examples:
âHey Farmer girl. You've got a nice tan going. The more I practice this summer, the easier it'll be for me to go pro. Then you'd be able to say you knew me once. Cool, huh?â Hey, when I turn pro you can say you were my first "fan". Not bad, huh?
"Hey, you must be getting pretty strong working on that farm all day. Maybe you'll reach my level some day. Something to look forward to, huh?"
4. Chronic Workaholics
ESTP 3w2s have an incredible work ethic, but this can also be detrimental if they aren't careful. ESTP 3w2s who don't prioritize their health and relationships alongside their goals risk becoming workaholics. This is especially true if they become competitive or are trying to help someone else achieve their goals alongside their own. Their personal well-being and relationships often suffer as a result.
Examples:
âI've been trying to do more reading lately... I feel like I've been neglecting my brain for years because of my athletic obsession.â
5. Bad Financial Decisions
ESTPs aren't the best at managing money, and being a 3w2 makes this even worse. Because they want to impress others, they will often make extravagant purchases to look more successful or affluent than they really are. This can also apply if they want to appear helpful to others, giving expensive gifts beyond their financial means.
Examples:
âI got these new shoes yesterday 'cuz my old pair had a brown smudge. I just threw them into the garbage.â "Hey, Farmer. Before you head outâŚI hate to ask this⌠but can I have 5,000g? It's for a secret project I'm working on⌠I know we have a joint bank account, but I thought I should ask anyway."
"Thanks again for the money, Farmer. It was a fun project for me, and all the guys seem happy with it!"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
Though it can be challenging to type Alex [or any fictional character, for that matter] with 100% accuracy, given everything we know about his character and his personal growth throughout the game, I believe is strong evidence to suggest that Alex is an ESTP 3w2.
His Enneagram type 3 desire for fame and recognition, paired with his MBTI cognitive strengths as an ESTP, makes watching his character transform from an arrogant, superficial man with an unhealthy obsession with becoming a professional athlete into a caring, supportive, and devoted friend/partner to the farmer incredibly satisfying. Do you agree that Alex is an ESTP 3w2? If not, what type do you think he is? Let me know your thoughts in the comments :)

The 9 Enneagram Types as Preds:
Type 1: "I am a pred because I have to impose the natural order of things. Swallowing prey makes me feel a sense of righteousness, superiority, and control."
Type 2: "I am a pred because I want to keep my prey safe and protected within me. By swallowing them, I provide the ultimate intimacy and security for them."
Type 3: "I am a pred because it's a way for me to feel accomplished, admired, and validated. By swallowing prey, it demonstrates my ability to do what others can't.
Type 4: "I am a pred because the experience of devouring another is so unique and deeply personal. Swallowing prey makes me feel special and in touch with my deepest self."
Type 5: "I am a pred because I have an insatiable curiosity for the dynamics and sensations. Swallowing prey makes me feel stimulated as I explore the boundaries of what's possible."
Type 6: "I am a pred because it gives me a sense of reassurance of the loyalty of my prey. In swallowing them, I feel secure in the knowledge that they are all mine."
Type 7: "I am a pred because of the thrill and exhilaration I get from eating my prey. Swallowing prey makes me feel alive in a purely hedonistic sense."
Type 8: "I am a pred because it asserts my dominance and control over my prey. Swallowing them makes me feel powerful and reinforces my sense of authority.
Type 9: "I am a pred because it brings peace and unity to my environment. By swallowing my prey, I achieve oneness and harmony with them as they become part of me.

Behind the locked door
In honor of Izukuâs mask disintegrating into rubble, I think itâs finally time for me to really dig deep into his character. Iâve been keeping this one in my back pocket for a while. Amid all the talk about Izukuâs fading narration, the âcontrol your heartâ subplot, Iâve been trying to find the words to articulate how I know exactly where this is going, at least on a certain level. Most recently, I read this meta from pika who brings up how the word âcontrolâ alone can be misconstrued (by us). And then I thought about how a while back I made a similar point, although I said Izuku was the one who got it wrong. At that time, I was holding back a huge piece of evidence because it was external to the story and I wasnât sure it would be received well. As a result, my argument fell a little flat. Well, nowâafter 411, right before leaks for 412âit might be my last chance to play this card.
So about that external evidence. I struggle to bring it up because itâs gonna sound an awful lot like Iâm projecting onto Izuku if I donât do it justice. But⌠I look at the way his storyline has been going lately and I see a pattern emerging that Iâm very familiar with. Fortunately, I donât have to dump a bunch of personal junk on you in order to illustrate this pattern, because a certain personality typing system already has it all figured out: the Enneagram.
Now, hang on. Iâm not one to put people in boxes. My trans ass? I managed to get a different result every time I retook the P0ttermore quiz. MBTI, zodiacsânot my thing. But the Enneagram comes the closest Iâve ever seen to covering all the bases and revealing actually meaningful insight, at least for myself. On top of that, I find it extremely useful for fleshing out fictional characters, hence this post will be taking advantage of that.
For those who arenât familiar with it, hereâs a quick overview: The Enneagram consists of 9 individual personality types, each arranged carefully in a sequential, circular manner. They are also simply named 1 through 9. While this might seem kinda basic, there is actually a surprising amount of nuance and fluidity involved. Typing is done largely through personal introspection (you donât really have to take a test). Adjacent numbers share some core themes with each other, and according to a web of arrows between them, one type can take on either positive or negative traits associated with other types depending on how emotionally âhealthyâ they are, causing a lengthy spectrum of different ways each type can manifest. That part gets kinda complicated to explain here, so for more info, the Enneagram Institute website is a decent place to start. I also highly recommend the Enneagram album by Sleeping At Last (and if you really want to dedicate some time, the accompanying podcast) to really get inside the heads of the types on a deeper level.
My interest in applying the Enneagram to Izuku comes from observing how differently one can interpret his character based on whether you read him as a 2 or a 9. And even though no one uses this language to talk about him, the distinction accounts for a bunch of different rifts in the fandom: whether you appreciate bkdkâs relationship, whether you can acknowledge Izukuâs flaws and weaknesses, the severity of his vigilante/rogue phase, and most importantly the gravity of his concealed heart, his rage, and what it all meansâwhat he needs in order to grow and triumph.
Discussion of Enneagram types in the fandom is pretty scarce, but where it exists, I have only seen him labeled as a 2. Type 9 and type 2 can be similar at a glance in a lot of ways (actually, 9s can be mistaken for any type because they are like all of them combined). Itâs easy to see Izuku as a 2 because he is the helping hero archetype. He puts othersâ needs above his own and he is always ready and eager to help. If you listen to Sleeping At Lastâs song for 2, youâll notice that itâs all about care and noble sacrifice with the underlying theme of neglecting or even harming oneself: âI just want to build you up, until your good as new, and maybe one day I will get around to fixing myself too.â Sounds pretty obvious, right? Well, hereâs the thing. You really get to know what your type is by how it hits you where it hurts, so I like to focus on each typeâs basic fear and basic desire, first and foremost, as a tell. A 2â˛s basic fear is of being worthless and unloved. Consequently, their most basic desire is to be loved. And 2s have been taught through their negative experiences that love is conditional, something they have to earn from others. They need to be needed. So letâs say you think Izuku is a 2. This means you consider his heroic, self-sacrificing tendencies to be a result of his growing up quirkless and being told he is worthless and powerless because of it. Through this lens, he is trying to prove himself to the world by being useful. Along these lines, you may also assume he is trying to prove himself to Katsuki. Taking this train of thought even further, you may interpret Izukuâs relationship with Katsuki as an obsession of his, where he is either blind to Katsukiâs more negative traits in favor of gaining his love and praise, or else bitterly determined to prove him wrong. This is how a 2 might behave in an unhealthy relationship with an 8, which, yes, I do think Katsuki is an 8. Thatâs a tangent for another time, though.
But does Izuku ever âneed to be needed?â Itâs worth noting that while 2sâ search for validation might seem insincere, it is actually motivated by a deep, heartbreaking insecurity. They think they donât even deserve love unless they are useful to someone, so they do everything they can to be worthy. Does Izuku show signs of this motivation?
If I stop to think about it, I canât exactly see this in Izukuâs character. Yeah, his dream is to be a hero, and in his childhood, he was denied that dream. However I think we need to take a step back from that for a second if we want to dig deep. I mean, a lot of the other characters also behave heroically, act selflessly, and strive to help. Does that mean all of them are 2s as well? Of course not. So letâs instead turn to observe how Izuku acts with his loved ones, friends, and peers in other/adjacent contexts:
Inko: He is committed to protecting his mother from fearing for his safety. He wants to be good enough to not cause her to worry, rather than good enough to make her proud or make her love him. Idk about his father but at this point I think itâs safe to assume he is deeply unimportant.
All Might: I would describe their relationship as one of mutual responsibility. Izuku feels a responsibility to uphold All Mightâs legacy, All Might feels a responsibility to teach him well. Because of this mutuality, I donât think it quite makes sense to say Izuku deliberately seeks approval for its own sake. You know what I mean? They may be a mentor and a pupil but in practice they are almost more like co-conspirators. They donât really have a power dynamic going on.
Shouto, Tenya, other friends: Izuku seems to take an interest in what makes his friends tick, and he sets himself aside in order to both analytically and intuitively determine whatâs wrong and how to solve it. Examples include his fight against Shouto in the sports festival, and his stubborn concern for Tenyaâs reaction to his brotherâs forced retirement. He will put himself in the line of fire specifically when confronted with another personâs inner demons. This is not a labor that is asked of professional heroes, itâs just who Izuku is. You can also extend this observation to how he sees through Tomura to Tenko, but Iâll get to that later. Basically, while 2s seek to help in all kinds of ways, a 9âs strategy is always centered on the realm of the mind.
Kota: Adjacent to the paragraph above, before Izuku literally gets into a position where he needs to save Kota, he becomes interested in the boyâs point of view out of genuine curiosity. He doesnât go âoh no, this kid doesnât like heroes, I better get him to like heroes.â Instead he seeks out information as to why he thinks that way, and patiently listens. Heâs sorry about what happened to Kota, and he understands. Twice (ch 71 and 72), he recognizes the fact that everyone has their own point of view on quirks, and he canât really do anything about that.
Mirio: This might be one of the most telling examples. Mirio is the platonic ideal of an All Might successor. Heâs âperfect.â He even looks the part. While this initially makes Izuku uncomfortable, he doesnât become insecure and defensive over it. On the contrary, he easily comes to the conclusion that actually, Mirio should have One for All. Just like that (ch 172). If Mirio hadnât dismissed the âhypothetical,â he probably would have gone through with giving it to him. Thatâs not how a 2 would respond. A 2 would double down and aim to be better than Mirio by trying to establish some relationship of need, fueled by the insecurity. Their shared subplot with Eri would have looked pretty different, I think.
Katsuki: Iâve mentioned before that I believe their rivalry only exists because Katsuki put it there. First of all, we can see that after the sludge villain incident, Izuku weirdly takes Katsukiâs dismissal of Izukuâs help as practical advice. Like, âoh yeah, I guess what I did was pretty stupid and dangerous, and Iâm not cut out for this hero stuff. Now I can move on and find a realistic career.â Hello?? He accepted that so easily. So Izuku clearly isnât motivated by a desire to prove himself to Katsuki. Even when he proclaims heâs going to surpass him, itâs like heâs happily mimicking Katsuki, not reacting based on insecurity or pride. Izuku is content to meet Katsuki wherever he is, and heâs satisfied with whatever kind of relationship they are able to have, including a rivalry, so he isnât vying for his affection either. We can observe this when he gives up the role of reaching out a hand to save Katsuki to Kirishima, and also when he thinks about how âblessedâ he is to even have a normal conversation with Katsuki. He doesnât push things. Itâs also stated in Deku vs. Kacchan 2 that Izuku doesnât excuse or overlook Katsukiâs âbad sideâ but still admires him for his other traits. This is not at all characteristic of a toxic 2x8 relationship.
When 2s are at their very worst or pushed into unhealthy situations, they tend to become more needy and self-centered, even downright manipulative. But at Izukuâs worst, when he went rogue, he pushed everyone away to avoid being a burden. When the refugees at UA tried to prevent him from returning, he was like, âyouâre rightâ and would have turned back immediately if not for his friends, loved ones, and other people who care about him telling him it was all okay. Meanwhile, Katsuki, in true 8 fashion, was pissed off at being rejected and having to deal with Izukuâs stubborn and evasive side (oh yeah, have I mentioned 9s are actually stubborn as hell?), but he made sure to establish that they are (he is) here to step in when Izuku canât handle things by himself. Katsuki even opened up and admitted to his own weaknesses to show why mutual support is so important. Tbh, a lot of the above can be construed as just super healthy type 2 behavior, but not this. The way Izuku acts at his lowest, and his dynamic with Katsuki? Totally different. Dead giveaway for a 9.
Letâs get into the type 9 itself in more detail to show how it applies to Izuku more deeplyâseriously, itâs beat for beat. One of the key differences is, while 2s seek validation, 9s are actually resigned to the belief that they arenât important. Similar to 2s, a 9â˛s basic fear is of separation, but their basic desire is actually just peace or harmony rather than love. Notice how these motivations are just like a 2âs, except they have the âselfâ part taken out. With that in mind, they âachieveâ their basic desire through selflessness in and of itself, without the need for recognition. Thatâs not to say that 9s are better than 2s. In fact, a 9 can be worse, in a way. If unhealthy, they will seek peace at almost any cost to themselves. In other words, they can be more self-destructive while still under the impression that they are doing just fine. âPeaceâ may refer to the expression of empathy, fulfilling the needs of others, sheltering someone, or mediating a fightâbut also to repressing their own opinions and needs, not ârocking the boat,â ignoring negative emotions, or becoming a vessel for someone else to vent to.
What about inner peace? 9s value serenity, and thus they have a complicated relationship with the most tumultuous of emotions: anger. On the surface, 9s look like the type that is extremely slow to anger and highly tolerant. However, as much as they would like to believe this about themselves too, deep down, 9s are afraid of what might happen if they lose control. My phrase for it is this: I feel like a bottled tornado. Personally, I also think of anger as a basic desire to make others feel your painânot necessarily sadistically, but in an effort to be known, to be understood. The difficult thing to grasp, especially for a 9, is that this is NOT inherently a bad thing. It isnât wrong to seek sympathy. On the contrary, it is harmful to tell yourself that getting angry is wrong, because itâs like telling yourself that your pain is wrong, your pain doesnât matter.
The problem is it doesnât stop there. A 9, in shutting down their anger, ends up with such a low opinion of their own heart, their other emotions dull along with it. They cry less, laugh less, love less. Itâs often said that they âfall asleepâ to themselves. It all starts with anger. Itâs interesting to note how different this whole mindset is from toxic masculinityâwhere men only feel allowed/able to express emotions through anger. This is sorta like the opposite. Anger becomes the dam rather than the river. For Izuku, I want us to consider that his suppression of anger carries with it the implication that he is hiding other things, too. Itâs a given. Thereâs a whole sea of feelings out there, and we can only see the waves hitting the shore. This brings me to the whole âcontrol your heartâ thing. I do think it is worth mentioning that Banjou didnât just tell Izuku to exercise control. He also told him that his anger could be useful if it is harnessed. With this added context, âcontrolâ here means âto master.â And Izuku seemed to grasp this concept⌠sorta. I think that if Izuku is like a 9, we can assume he has trouble understanding how anger could be a worthy source of strength. His emotions in relation to Katsuki feel more like a weakness to him, a character flaw in a hero, who is supposed to be detached and selfless. But heâs trying to understand, even though heâs afraid of it. He essentially applied the same strategy he used for mastering OFA itself: incremental strength training. Which, okay. Take a moment to absorb how odd that is, in relation to emotions, specifically. Does one learn to cry incrementally? Does one learn to use anger by bottling a fucking tornado?? Like, what, you think youâre gonna be able to let out juuust the right amount of air to avoid an explosion??? No, man⌠if you want to be the master of your emotions you have to be willing to sit with them. Confront them. Listen to them. Take them in completely and accept them as a part of yourself.
For someone like Izuku, though, it is very difficult to imagine how this is even possible. Tomura, as with every villain, can be used to reflect his hero counterpartâs greatest fear about himself. Tomura literally touches everyone and everything with his rage, and as a physical manifestation of that desire to pass his own pain onto others, destruction radiates from his fingertips. Thus, losing control in this manner must be Izukuâs worst nightmare, as if he would be completely unable to stop the collateral damage like an infinite line of dominoes. But his anger is not something he can overcome, as such.
An overarching theme in this heroes vs. villains conflict is that the villains are not merely obstacles to be overcome. Just think back to Himikoâs bitter rejection of the heroic sense of superiority. She demanded not to be pitied, condescended to, or lied to. Likewise, the answer cannot be that Izuku needs to restrain himself where Tomura doesnât. What purpose would it serve to show that Izuku is better than him? Certainly not saving Tomura. If this was a battle against AFO, it might have been a different story. In that case, Izuku would have to overcome his emotional manipulation tactics. Tomura, on the other hand, is not so strategic. With his strangely childlike tendencies, he must relish making Izuku mad because it brings them closer to the same wavelength. Itâs his own twisted way or seeking sympathy, or at least, the closest thing to sympathy he can get anymore, because he believes he is beyond saving. With that in mind, Izuku isnât going to get anywhere unless he rises to meet him. Izuku has to match Tomuraâs hatred with equally strong emotions of his own, whatever they may be, or else face the loss of OFA (as established in 305). This is not an easy thing to ask of a 9, once they have started to pull the blood from their extremities, become cold and numb. Bringing back circulation is painful and makes the skin crawl.
In case youâre worried about the focus on anger here, I want to reiterate that concealed anger in a 9 is just one sign of so much more. Back when everyone started fretting about Izukuâs habit of self-sacrifice, which would have been the only thing we need to worry about if he were a 2, I was freaking out because Izuku was also starting to look like a person who has too many secrets. You donât even have to acknowledge the possibility that he lied about what triggered blackwhip. Itâs written all over his face all the time these days. Itâs especially noticeable when you contrast him with Katsuki after all his own growth. Katsuki confides in people. He acknowledges his weaknesses. He enjoys being himself. He asserts his place. He thinks about Izuku all the damn time and now he even lets himself be soft about it. All this warmth while Izuku is distant, muted, and blank. I know all too well what this state of mind is like. Man, I hate secrets. You get to the point where you donât know how to talk about even the simplest most inconsequential shit. And the bigger things? Theyâre like a growing snowball of words in your throat that cannot possibly fit out of your mouth. The âeasiestâ way to cope is to simply fade into the rhythm of life. Go with the flow.
Since 9s have a natural curiosity about the interiority of other people, they may choose to focus on that in order to divert their own attention away from themselves. Taken to the extreme, they will lose track of their sense of self. Like I said, you can see Izuku doing this as he fights, analyzing the psyche of his opponent, and his match against Shouto in the sports festival was a fantastic early example. They became friends because of how observant Izuku is. His emotional intelligence and intuition are very strong, but gradually, as he has taken on greater responsibilities and experienced more trauma, he has gotten worse at applying these skills to himself. You know, we go on and on about how his narration has been reduced to nearly nothing, and itâs not just an absence of introspection, itâs an absence of self. It creates a lack of ownership over the narrativeâwhat should be his narrative.
Right now, heâs focusing on trying to see Tomura as a person, figuring him out. I think it would be really satisfyingly ironic if in the process, he ends up uncovering insights about himself instead. Itâs about time we learn what Izukuâs secrets are. I donât actually think that Izuku mastering anger will constitute the emotion that is strong enough to keep Tomura from taking OFA. Moreover, he canât expect to reach Tomuraâs core, Tenko, unless he exposes his own. Rather, anger is the conduit for Izuku to unlock something else. Think of the way he described how Katsuki is his image of victory. The feeling manifests when he asserts a stronger sense of self (the urge to win) and he becomes more free with his words. I have no doubt that Tomura has the power to make unfiltered honesty spill out of him. He knows how to bring out his selfish needs, his pain, his pressure points, his fears, his insecurities. Hell, maybe Mt. Fuji erupting is a metaphor. I want to see Izuku explode while Tomura watches with mad glee. But then I want Izuku to Realize Things such that it finally sets him free. Then, instead of Tomura witnessing yet another person he touches fall apart, he gets to see someone become whole.
"I let the scale tip, feel all of it. It's uncomfortable but right. And we were born to try to see each other through. To know and love ourselves and others well is the most difficult and meaningful work we'll ever do." --Sleeping At Last, 'Nine'

Here to share Hien thoughts today.
One thing that defines her is that sheâs very capable. Sheâs the highest ranking in the squad after Maizuru so her confidence is in part because she does have that senior coworker &/ leader authority to her, confidence which is very much earned.
If I had to dig deeper at her beyond just what weâre shown Iâd go with the angle that⌠She was born into the Nakamoto household and being a ninja servant, she grew up there, she doesnât know anything else beyond the job, and itâs a job she does well, traines to get there. Sheâs here to do her work and sheâs content with her life being how it is, not that she knows anything else. I donât think sheâd be self-aware about it all? Both because this really is pretty normal for Wa and itâs her normal, and because, while she doesnât fold her spine or care for things like cosmetics, she does mold her attitude to be both capable and respectable. Her home, the Nakamoto household, is simultaneously a professional setting, itâs a 24/7 thing.
Sheâs critical of others, including her superiors and she doesnât shy from it. Everyone shittalks Toshiroâs father regardless, but she also gets reprimanded by Maizuru for seeing Toshiro as vaguely unreliable, again likely influenced by their history as childhood friends, sasses Maizuru when she goes off into an anecdote again, etc. Even as a kid with Toshiro, doubtlessly after starting her ninja training already considering that Toshiro started his at ~5yo, she told him it was unbecoming of him to cry. Sheâs the one both with the job and the will to keep others in check, like when it comes to Izutsumi not doing her tasks, etc etc.
Her childhood friend relationship with Toshiro only grew more professional with time, to her surprise but seems to be more about the thought of it rather than it affecting her emotionally. With the way her extra comic lays it out, it seems she expected to become Toshiroâs mistress because of history repeating itself, in a "it is what it is" way more than anything, which is in line with the reading that sheâs more go-with-the-flow and "anything that Iâm tasked with Iâll accomplish, as a matter of course". Sheâs not really social, and keeps herself ready to act at beck and call. Sheâs not uptight but sheâs hard-working. So yeah like, taking pride in your skills but also keeping your identity mostly molded for efficiency. She doesnât really think about it all, she just is and sheâs fine with things as they are, going from one task to the next.
I think itâd be neat to look at her relationship with her parents⌠Theyâre both servants at the Nakamotosâ, so while maybe busy like Maizuru was at times while raising Toshiro but still taking the time to cook for him (which, parents that prioritize work over her would make sense with how she became how she is), I wonder what their relationship was like, how much time they spent together, how Hien feels like towards them⌠I assume theyâre a part in molding what her definition of normal is, after all if they are longstanding servants of the Nakamotos she has that much less reason to question such a life. But like⌠Have they ever had hard-hitting discussions, or is she pretty distant even with them? Did they push her into working harder, or were more hands-off? Does Hien maybe want to earn recognition by being capable? Hien has a younger sister that she gets along "so-so" withâŚ
Hienâs younger sister seems to smile more, be more social and a bit nonchalant, such and such. Could be a point of tension that points to the "so-so", that theyâre dissimilar/Hien thinks she doesnât behave right or takes things too lightly, that sheâs "unreliable" maybe. Or it could also point to some difference in how they grew up⌠Like oh I bet there could be tasty angst with mertocracy and siblings favoritism with her family thrown in there⌠Having to earn the love, earn your keep, earn your spot in the hierarchy (in work and family both)
To me she shines best as a foil, like to Beni, but like. Sheâs got neat stuff going on If youâre wondering where I took half of what I referenced from I recommend looking at my masterpost on the Nakamoto party, info and extras are compiled
#Dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#Hien#Meta#character analysis#fumi rambles#Working on a lot of different things on top of my actual work so things r slower than iâd like lately⌠Have this Discord ramble as apology#Meanwhile Beniâs attitude is very subservient and submissive. Itâs interesting how little and how much difference they have simultaneously#On that front. Like you canât really say Hien isnât like a bodyguard ornament in the bg even if she shows more personality#Hienbeni fic will get finished one day I prommy#Weâve never seen Hien stressed which I think is a feat. Teach me your ways (probably repression)#Hien girlboss compilation#Ok Hien sister jealousy plot where she doesnât know where the anger is coming from so she assumes itâs out of principle bc h slacks off#Hienbeni repressed anger power couple truly#So hmmm 3w2 enneagram HienâŚ? Beni I was thinking either 8w9 or 6w5⌠Maybe smth that becomes an 8 when stressed#You have to be pretty ballsy to specialize in explosives

CB typology
I havenât ever done this type of thing before so Iâm not sure how accurate this really is but it was fun to do. To simplify what Iâll be doing, typology is a way of classifying things into groups to gain a better understanding. I will select a character at a time and analyze them to the best of my ability.
I will be going over MBTI, and enneagrams. Iâm no expert when it comes to these so just remember Iâm not sure how accurate everything will be. I want to do alignment at some point but I think it may be hard to assign. Iâll focus on one character at a time.
Chase:
ESFP: The Entertainer.
ESFPs are part of the âexplorerâ group within MBTI. They are often described as spontaneous, lively, and adventurous. ESFPs are always looking for new things to try and they like to entertain others.
Out of all the personality types ESFP-A suits Chase the best. Chase is constantly looking for ways to change the stories and goes into things without a plan. He finds the unknown exciting. Throughout CB he pursues to develop a relationship with Buddy despite knowing nothing about him. Chase even accepted the keys before fully understanding the magic behind them and didnât hesitate to help Silver find her family. He is constantly looking for different ways to solve problems and is very generous.
Chase, like ESFPs, is energized by people. We donât get to see Chase interact with many people aside from Deacon and Buddy, but we do know he has plenty of friends and loves to socialize . ESFPs typically are good at reading their environment. Chase has shown throughout CB that he has high emotional intelligence which goes in hand with being able to read people and the environment around him. ESFPs extroverted sensing usually helps them pick up on social cues to give them a better understanding of those around them.
I could go deeper into this at another time and focus on strengths and weaknesses and how they align with Chase's personality type.
When it comes to enneagrams there are many that fit Chase but to really find one that fit him I read into which enneagrams were common within ENFPs and studies the strengths and weaknesses alongside goals to find which one better describes Chase. But to really find which enneagram best suits him we would have to dive deeper into his character. (Just remember I have no idea what Iâm doing lol, if you find an enneagram that better suits him please let me know.)
2w3: âThe Hostâ
This type desires to be loved and accepted. They express this by building attachments and seeking different types of relationships. They fear being worthless and often work hard to meet others' needs to mask their own insecurities.
Within CB Chase's main goal is to help his Mother. He daydreams about being a pop star and gaining enough money to help her financially but when he meets Silver and learns about narratonin his approach in helping his mother changes. We as the reader are familiar with Chase's goal to help others but we rarely see him work through his own problems since he is too busy trying to help others. (Ex: His mom and Buddy). Chase didnât hesitate to offer Buddy a place to stay when he found out they were potentially starving him and is always looking for a way to assist and help others. (Including book characters.) It's quite ironic that Chase does not possess the helper key role as helping is in his nature.
Shout out to prior character analyses that I read (which inspired me to dive deeper into the characters). I donât remember who made them otherwise I would tag them. If anyone is interested in temperaments you can find an analysis in the fan discord by IzNome. I will eventually be making one of these for both Buddy and Deacon but Iâm not sure when I will get to it.

MBTI AND ENNEAGRAM ANALYSIS OF INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE CHARACTERS
Part 1
Louis de Pointe du Lac
Mbti
Introverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving
Infps are highly idealistic, sensitive and driven by their values
Especially because their leading function Fi (introverted feeling) allows them to be in tune with their emotions. Very much so that they are driven by their inner compass. They have a clear sense of right and wrong and it's not likely or easy for them to change their mind about something, especially moral issues
Armand: I would have made this woman a vampire. But I thought it best you have a hand in it. Otherwise you would not give Claudia up. You must know you wanted it
Louis: I loathe what I did!
Armand: Then loathe me, not yourself
Louis: No, you don't understand. You nearly destroyed the thing you value in me when this happened. I resisted you with all my power even when I didn't know it was your force which was working on me. Something nearly died in me! Passion nearly died in me! I was all but destroyed when Madeline was created!
Armand: But that thing is no longer dead, that passion, that humanity, whatever you wish to name it. If it were not alive there wouldn't be tears in your eyes right now. There wouldn't be rage in your voice
Infps are very emphatatic and sensitive. They want to make the world a better place and they try hard to help others
"But why, with this passion and this sense of justice, do you wish to call yourself the child of Satan!" - Armand
Louis: I'm incapable of your detachment. I know what it is, and I do not possess it and I doubt that I ever will. I accept this
Armand: I understand. I saw you in the theatre, your suffering, your sympathy with that girl. I saw your sympathy for Dennis when I offered him to you; you die when you kill
They are introspective and they desire to find their meaning in life
"It's a terrible feeling, not knowing, not understanding, not being in control of your own destiny" - Louis
"I would have to know from what... from what it comes. Whether it came from other vampires...or elsewhere" - Louis
They focus on the big picture and are very intuitive
"No need to tell him what to observe, or what to remember. He always knew such things. Years ago, when I'd done the dark magic on him, I hadn't had to tell him anything; he had savored the smallest aspects of it all on his own. Then later he said I'd failed to guide him. Didn't he know how unnecessary that had always been?" -Lestat
With their strive for authenticity and their sensitivity, they look for ways to express themselves through art and stories
Enneagram
Basic fear: that they have no meaning or significance
Basic desire: to have their own identity and purpose, their meaning
Type fours are sensitive, self aware and reserved. They are also prone to be moody and self conscious. They can suffer from self pity and melancholy
Type fours see themselves as fundamentally different from other people. More than any other type, they are acutely aware of their weaknesses and defiances. They see themselves as uniquely disadvantaged or flawed
And because they see themselves as so different, they feel like nobody can see their true selves and therefore no one can love them for who they really are
"For the first time in my life, I was seen"
They might romanticize pain and bittersweet feelings
"I think to be this happy is to be miserable, to feel this much satisfaction is to burn"
Type fours often feel like there is something missing in them that others possess. This thing can't be properly identified but they feel like there is a hole in them that can not be filled
"If I ever thought we have souls, mine is gone forever"
So they feel like with this thing missing, everyone but them can fully understand who they are and their meaning
Type fours struggle to let go of their feelings from the past. They nurse their old wounds and hold onto their feelings about people who hurt them
4w5 (four wing five): The Bohemian
This subtype is combined with type five. So they're more reserved than the usual type four. But they're also more observant and speculative
"Louis, the watcher, the patient one, was there on account of love pure and simple"
Overall, infps and type fours are generally sensitive, creative, melancholic, empathatic, understanding, authentic, emotionally expressive and introspective people
"Louis, whose green eyes are soulful, the very mirror of patient misery, soft voiced, very human, weak; having lived only two hundred years, unable to read minds, or to levitate, or to spellbind others except inadvertently, which can be hilarious, an immortal with whom mortals fall in love" -Armand
" And it occured to me. If Louis does end his life, if he does bring his supernatural journey to conclusion, how will I ever answer for it to Lestat or Armand? It was the love of Louis which had at times crippled Lestat, and enslaved Armand" - David
"The first thing I'd ever noticed about him-well, after his green eyes that is- was his black hair. No, all that's a lie. It was his expression; the passion and the innocence and the delicacy of conscience. I just loved it!" - Lestat
"If I knew a mortal of that sensitivity, that pain, that focus, I would make him a vampire in an instant. But such can rarely be done. No, I've had to wait and watch for you. And now I'll fight for you. Do you see how ruthless I am in love?" - Armand
"Louis, my handsome Louis, in his dark wool and old fashioned high-collared linen, gazing down on us with a look of thinly veiled amusement, but with a secret in his hypnotic green eyes" - Lestat

Hi, I am interested to know đ¤, how would you describe each lower function of the MBTI personality types?
It opposes the natural process In which the Dominant function works. Usually when developing your lower function you get a more whole perspective in the matter.
Si dom (low Ne)
The Si dom is all about using details to create streamlined process that have very strict step by step methods. Developing Ne means they would learn to look at multiple alternatives ideas.
Ex- Susan Pevensie (ISTJ 6w5 so/sp) becoming more flexible when entering Narnia
Se Dom (Low Ni)
The Se dom is stuck in the current moment. They use the current environment around them to make choices. Developing low Ni makes them have more abstract and long term way of thinking.
Ex- Percy Jackson (ESFP 6w7 so/sx) Development when meeting Annabeth
Fi Dom (Low Te)
The Fi dom leads with their emotional values and feelings. They approach every problem they have with how they are feeling. Developing Te makes their focus to be more objective and focus on solving problems.
Ex- Sasuke Uchiha (ISFP 6w5 sx/so) becoming more Te focused as the show goes on
Fe Dom (Low Ti)
The Fe dom navigates life through the feelings and emotions of others. Their main concern is how the social and emotional world Is working in the moment. With Ti developing they become more
Ex- Caroline Forbes (ESFJ 3w2 so/sx) Development in TVD
Ti Dom (Low Fe)
The Ti dom uses their internal world to understand to make logical sense of everything. It focuses on the logistical workings of things rather than function. When developing Fe the Ti dom understands more of what others feel and their emotional motivators.
Ex- Reed Richards (INTP 5w6 so/sp) Understanding his powers and how science benefits the world.
Te Dom (Low Fi)
The Te dom is focused on Efficiency and results. As well as being objective and not letting their emotions get in the way. When developing Fi they become in tune with their emotional self and integrate their emotional self to their goals.
Ex- Victoria Chase (ESTJ 3w4 so/sp) while fighting with Max (INFP 9w1 sp/so) she becomes more in tune with herself and the action she has taken.
Ni Dom (Low Se)
The Ni Dom perceive reality through a very essence based system. Unlike the Si dom the Ni dom is not very rigid about things. The Ni dom can come off as detached from the environment. Developing Se makes the Ni dom more grounded and in tune with the environment.
Ex- Lexi Howard (INFJ 9w1 so/sp) Acknowledging how detach she has been on the second season of euphoria
Ne Dom (Low Si)
The Ne Dom is always looking to explore the environment through ideas and possibilities. They are always thinking of 7 ways to fix a problem. With the development of Si comes a more grounded and methodical way of thinking.
Ex- Stiles Stilinksi (ENTP 7w6 sx/so) figuring out mysteries with Lydia Martin (ESTJ 3w2 so/sx) grounds him to more methodical approaches.

Fruits Basket Personality Types Part 1: an Introduction to the Enneagram
If you've never heard of the Enneagram, it's a personality typing system that looks at your core motivations and the childhood wounds that inform them. I love it because it's entirely internal; while it's true that people of the same type tend to have some traits in common, what's most important is that deep-seated, all-encompassing belief that drives you. In this post, I will give a brief overview of the 9 types to refer back to when I analyze the characters of Fruits Basket. I plan to analyze all the cursed Sohmas, plus Tohru, Arisa, Saki, Kazuma, Kakeru, Machi, and possibly some more minor characters (like Kimi, Megumi, Kyoko, Katsuya, and anyone else who captures my interest).
As I've been writing fanfiction, I've been using the Enneagram as a tool to better understand the characters and their motivations. When I've been stuck on how to write a character, I try to figure out their Enneagram (and sometimes their MBTI) to get a better sense of who they are, what drives them, how they think, etc... It's a wonderful tool for writers, and I highly recommend learning about it if you ever struggle to understand a character (as a writer or a reader/viewer!).
When I first learned about the Enneagram, I connected strongly with 1, 2, 4, and 7. I connected slightly with 5 and 6, and not at all with 3, 8, and 9. Can you guess my Type (and Wing) from that information? Answer is at the bottom of this post!
[Information in this post about each type comes from the following sources: EnneaApp, Enneagram Explained, The Enneagram Institute, Helping Writers Become Authors, The Narrative Enneagram, and Truity.]

Even as I was putting together this guide, my opinions on the Enneagrams of some characters changed. Who did you recognize? Who still has you stumped?
Did you figure out my type? I'm a 1 with a 2 wing. I connected to those two as well as 4 and 7, which corresponds to where Ones go when we're healthy or unhealthy.

INFP 6w5 with luna moths deep in the Fi Forest. ---------------------------------------------------------------- A character study of my INFP 6w5 with a new dress and braided hair. Admittedly, I'm not very good at drawing backgrounds or creating atmosphere with light/colour, so I wanted to challenge myself more with this painting. It feels like my art 'muscles' are all wobbly and shaky, but I suppose strength is built with repetition and practice :) -------------------------------------------------------------- The darkest parts of the Fi forest receive very little light, making it hard for the unfamiliar to distinguish between night and day. This is because the top layer of the canopy is so thick that light can barely penetrate through the dense brush. Thankfully, having lived in the depths of the Forest for most of their lives, many xxFP 4's, 5's and 6's have expertly honed their Ne or Se to survive the precarious conditions. Monsters and demons thrive in dark places, making well-developed Sensing or Intuition necessary for inhabitants to protect themselves while avoiding unwanted and potentially lethal encounters. Strangely, their willingness to embrace darkness allows light to be found, even in the most unlikely places...

Typing LBC LIs: Ayn
ESI(ISFP) sp468 EVFL / sx468 EFVL* RLOEI
*Ayn's personality ranges. His modern and Eden self is sp4 but in Godheim, he is sx4.
Self-preservation 4 <tenacity>
ÂŤbecause I suffer, I make myself workÂť
it is not uncommon for the SP4 to be very stoic, as they are used to swallowing pain. They have learned to tolerate pain and not dwell in it. Because of the SP need for survival, they demand a lot from themselves and have a passion for effort.
Ayn is a reactive character, all his motivations come from an external stimulus that causes him to suffer. In the modern universe, his mother's death drove him to persist on playing the piano despite his father's disapproval. Despite the lack of support, he remains stoic, wanting to prove his self-reliance.
[However, Ayn also wants to prove that he can achieve great things by himself.] 7. Memory - Pleasant Coorperation.
In Eden, the burning down of the black market where he was being sold as a slave against his instinct to survive and persist.
"Destiny is a farce. Fire usually ends lives, but in the end, I had to use it to save myself." ...[I look into Ayn's eyes and see that red is indeed a good protective colour. WIth how bright and colourful it is, it's easy to overlook the immense pain it hides.] 11 - The Past 3
Masochistic attitude - Ayn bears with suffering readily for the need for love and recognition
Difficulty accepting limits - Ayn pushes himself even when he's putting himself at risk of when he doesn't have any support
Difficulty expressing tenderness - Ayn restrains tenderness and affection towards other because those are related to dependency of others
Sexual 4 <hate>
ÂŤbecause I suffer, I hate othersÂť
When Envy comes into contact with this instinct it produces a character competes with others in an attempt to gain approval or recognition. Sx4s then make others suffer as an unconscious way of trying to rid themselves of painful feelings of deficiency. They are the kind of people whoâd rather be hated for who they are than be loved for someone who they are not.
In Godheim, Lars's takeover pushes him to climb a hierarchy to prove himself and take back everything that he had lost because of Lars.
[For Ayn, happiness is something that was beaten out of him during his childhood. He demands satisfaction: a life for a life.] "I want to take back everything I've lost, everything Lars had taken away from me." 12 - Symbiosis.
Ayn is deeply envious of Lars and he expresses it to be the reason behind his motivations openly to MC once he starts showing his vulnerable side.
"I want to become stronger, so I can topple him from his throne. The throne is rightfully mine, and so are you..." 15 - The Sword Beneath the Moon
Guilty and Blaming others - Ayn largely blames Lars and the incompetency of his father for his suffering, because he doesn't want to accept his own guilt.
Violent - Ayn was physically aggressive against Alkaid and MC
Overpowering - the start of Ayn's and MC's relationship was a contract that made sure that he would always have the upper hand over her
ESI (Socionics:ISFj / mbti:ISFP)
Ne PoLR: Ayn has a conscious fear of potential, which is what causes trust issues. He is wary of people and what they might do in the future, that's why he puts all sorts of precautions and he himself becomes rigid. Fi base solves this by labelling people and holding on to that - this is a friend, that is an enemy. And depending on how bad it is, he can go around thinking everyone is his enemy (even when they aren't.)
1E (Psychosophy)
Ayn is confident in emotions but can appear more closed off about expressing them in EFVL because of the influence of 3V. Notice that Eden Ayn is somewhat warmer than Godheim Ayn. Ayn's decisions are heavily influenced by his own emotions and are not affected by others' emotions.

Me believing that toddler to child Leo was the kind of kid to always ask âwhy?â In an annoying way. Which would sometimes escalated to âwhat ifs..â like âwhat if the ceiling collapsed on us?â Or âwhat if humans find us?â Or âwhat if a giant alien with tentacles came from the sky and attacked New York?â
And how I think these tiny things were usually chalked up to a wild imagination. And how I think he was actually very worried about them. And how I think that made him look for every angle. How I think every time Splinter left, he would say luv you, just in case. How I think he would worry when Splinter did not come home when he said he would.
How he looks up to Raph who said he wouldnât let bad things happen. How he turns to heros like Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu. How he pretends he is strong and cool just like them.
How I think he didnât trust April at first. But she won him over pretty fast. How heâs afraid to get hurt. And afraid that those he loves will get hurt. So he tries his best to keep them safe.
In how Raph guides his decisions. In how he knows his family so well. In how he knows how to push their buttons. In how he knows they are strong. Even without him. In how he feels he needs them more than they need him. In how he tests that they care. In how Leo doesnât trust his place in the family that he has to say âI love you..â before giving any kind of potentially painful criticism.
Why he doubts himself. Why he curls into himself when heâs stressed or scared or nervous or petty. Why he doubts strangers âgood intentions.â Why he runs away before he gets caught. Why he knows he has to go back. Why he faces his fears.
Why, despite everything heâs shown, and every action heâs taken to assure his own safety, he stood up to face the bad guy and leap into the unknown to protect his family from the giant alien with tentacles who attacked New York City.

Enneagram time with the Links!
I'm gonna type the Links from LoZ games I've played, might do Linked Universe too at some point. Anyway! I am too tired to explain the enneagram properly, but essentially it is a personality system that consists of nine different types. They're sorted by their core motivations and fears, and how they respond to the world in relation to that. Check out more info about that here!
Here's a list of the nine types
Okay, personality dweebs, let's do this!
Skyward Sword Link - Type 9, The Peacemaker, for sure. This boy just radiates type 9 energy. Laid back, doesn't seem particularly bothered by much of anything but when he is bothered, oh boy does it show. Is called "lazy" and a "daydreamer," yet he doesn't show traits of actual laziness. The teachers don't lament his lack of work. He's airheaded and unfocused, but he isn't lazy. Has strong feelings, you can see from how expressive he is. He's very empathetic, patient, and kind.
When type 9s are under stress they gravitate towards the more negative traits of type 6 - constantly anxious (always running too late), distrustful or reclusive (can't tell anyone else on Skyloft what's going on).
Link just... I can't put it into words, he just is type 9. As for his wing, I'd go with a 9w1. This Link isn't particularly assertive or looking for challenges, he's far more introverted, has a strong sense of duty and probably prefers the safety and comfort of routine.
Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask Link - Type 1, The Reformer. His sense of duty, his position as Hero of Hyrule, his need to help the world and protect others literally dominates this man's life - and death!! It's clearly important to him as he imparts this ideology to his descendant, the Hero of Twilight. He sticks around as a stalfos to continue his legacy, to train the next generation because his greatest regret was not ensuring the continued protection of Hyrule and ensuring others fulfilled the duty of the Hero as well. He is quiet, reserved, logical, and incredibly intelligent - of all the games I've played, OoT dungeons are the hardest, and this dude figured them out when he was nine.
Type 1s under stress devolve into the negativity of type 4s, they're emotional, they think no one can understand them, they're isolated and just different, ring a bell anyone? This dude is so displaced in time I can't blame him for feeling disconnected from everyone else and bitter about it. He definitely had a phase like this in his adolescence, I'm sure. And when type 1s are growing and at their best, they have the sense of spontaneity and adventure of type 7s, which seems on par with his I'm-going-break-this-horse-out-of-the-stable-by-jumping-over-the-fence-with-her-during-a-race moment.
His wing would probably be a type 2. He has a very kind heart, even if he doesn't express it well, bless him.
Twilight Princess Link - Type 2, The Helper. Compassionate, putting others first always, having a strong need to defend, assist, and nurture others. This Link is a gentle soul, through and through. Until you put him on a battlefield of course, because wow he is the most ferocious Link of the bunch. And that's a thing with 2s! When under stress they are aggressive and overbearing like 8s!
The entire village relies on this guy before he ever even starts his journey. He's already being a hero to his own people, and it has nothing to do with leading or fight, it's just that he goes out of his way to help others. He is so caring and tender and loving, he whittles away at Midna's sharp edges until she warms up to him too.
His wing would probably be a type 1 because he seems very focused on helping the individual more than the group. He's a local country boy who thinks small scale, has a sense of duty to others specifically instead of a sense of building achievements and success.
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Link - Type 6, The Loyalist. Committed, security oriented, responsible, anxious. Sounds a lot like our boy, right? His anxieties dominated his life prior to the Calamity until his amnesia wiped those away. Committed? Dude, have you ever seen him leave Zelda's side? This is him to a T. Notably, when 6 is in a place of healthy growth, they act more like a relaxed, laid back 9, which you 100% see in Breath of the Wild. The contrast between Link under pressure prior to the Calamity and Link without the world making demands of him is huge. He and Sky Link would be chill besties is all I'm saying. Type 6s and 9s tend to be good friends.
Did I happen to mention that type 6 is filled with self doubt? This boy doubted his ability to be the Hero so much he let the world decide how he should act because he was convinced he would screw it up.
His wing is definitely a 7. 7s are spontaneous, wild, rambunctious, adventurous, and don't plan a second beyond the moment they're living in. He is absolutely a 6w7.
Summary!
Sky: 9w1 Time: 1w2 Twilight: 2w1 Wild: 6w7
