- is on his school's hockey team, plans on getting a scholarship through hockey so he can get a college diploma and get a well paying job

- one time someone called him cj and he broke their nose (for totally unrelated reasons, according to him)

- older than the turtles, but younger than april

- met April when she was senior in highschool, they kept in touch after she graduated

- meets the turtles separate from April

- has a missing tooth + scar on his mouth and a scar on his forearm from vigilanting

Backstory (I wanted to keep it all together instead of breaking it up)

His parents moved to New York soon after his little sister (Chloe) was born. His mom ended up dying after a mugger stabbed her, inspiring him to turn to vigilantism (the police never caught the mugger). After his mother died his father wanted to move out of New York, but he barely made enough money to support his family without his wife, and he won't let Casey work while he's still a child, so they can't.

Make pride accessible for everyone!!!!

I made a post about this last year and the year before, and thought if I did it this way it gives people and orgs something to work towards. Often people forget that disabled people aren't just wheelchair users, and even those who are, need more than just that ramp!

My first ever pride, not only as a wheelchair but my first ever EVER pride, I went in expecting to feel at home.

Obviously I wasn't, I'm disabled, so why should I?

Instead there was just a ridiculous amount of uneven flooring, a steep ramp to the disabled toilet, no sanitary towel bin in the disabled toilet (???) no allowances to be let out of the festival to fetch things from my car, no where quiet and organisers who seemed genuinely surprised to see a wheelchair user!

My next pride, three years later, I was a seller, and while they had sorted their toilet problem (still no sanitary towel bin???), the hill to get in wouod have been genuinely impossible for me to get to if I hadn't been driving to get my stall in anyway, even with someone pushing me, no quiet areas, plenty of kerbs for me to get stuck at and again, genuine surprise.

Why is it so surprising to consider disabled people might be at pride? Not only do queer disabled people exist, but parents and family of queer kids and people, vendors and even entertainers!

Making pride accessible is crucial!

I'm gonna post some stuff about characters for my Coon and Friends au in parts, so it may be a bit long. Don't murder me for this.

Part one: Toolshed (Sammy)

Toolshed, in this au, is 13 and in 7th grade, the oldest of the kiddos.

Toolshed goes by He/She pronouns. She goes by She/Her in the comic and in this blog to avoid confusion, but she is STILL Bigender, and she doesn’t mind whichever set you use.

Toolshed is the more calm and collected one of the group. When she ISN’T any of those things, shit’s about to go down. She’s also the parental/older sibling figure, trying to keep everyone somewhat unharmed and somewhat sane.

Toolshed likes women romantically, yes, but knows DAMN well she’s asexual. She’s kinda in denial about it, because she doesn’t wanna be seen as a weirdo.

Toolshed has ADHD and hyperfixates a lot, so she takes adderall. She also stims unknowingly when she’s nervous. (cracking her knuckles, bouncing her leg, etc…)

Toolshed’s one of the more innocent ones of the group. Although still dirty minded, she doesn’t get certain dirty jokes, or jokes that aren’t around the media. For example, she understands ’69’ and stuff like that, but if you talk about ‘estrogen’, she wouldn’t entirely get what you mean.

Toolshed is an avid drawer. She’ll doodle during meetings to try and focus, too, but only when she REALLY needs to.

Toolshed has a younger brother, this au’s version of Fastpass, who is a mix of Shelly’s role in the series as Stan’s sibling and Jimmy’s powers. 

^Adding onto this, Toolshed and Fastpass, in this au, openly admit that they’re polar opposites, but also admit they get along great for siblings. Toolshed’s calm and collective-ness and Fastpass’s hyperactive and bubbly demeanor compliment each other pretty well. Plus, they’re both able to help the other in better ways, Toolshed calming Fastpass down so his emotion-affected powers don’t go too far, and Fastpass cheering Toolshed up after a long ass day.

Pronouns: he/him (ftm, on total accident too lol)

Species: warthog

Personality: very energetic, is easy to underestimate but he is actually super competent when he's serious

Height: 5 feet 9 inches without boots (about 175 centimeters), 6 feet with boots (about 183 centimeters) (not counting his hair btw)

Power: can play pretty much any instrument, it's not that helpful for his work, but he likes it anyway

Other details:

- ran a gang before it was taken over by the foot clan

- has a lot of trouble reading

- is v e r y against putting kids in harm's way

- refuses to take off his glasses

Rocksteady character details

Pronouns: he/him

Species: rhino (haven't decided what kind)

Personality: serious on the surface, can be kinda goofy if with someone he really likes

Height: 6 feet (about 183 centimeters)

Power: knows how to operate any weapon, very helpful for his work, but he prefers to just use guns

Other details:

- has been part of the foot clan longer, got paired with Bebop when he joined

- also has trouble reading

- originally didn't like Bebop because he thought he didn't take anything seriously, but he grew to really care about him
