men i could fix ch.3
DO GANGJAE
God, this man is so fine.
So, Mr. Do Gangjae, where do I start with him?
[Minor spoilers ahead]
So, this mf lost a fight against Jiwoo and was so pissed that he lost, that he drugged her, tried to get his friend to assault her then nearly killed her. Then when he got caught, he was punished (slashed across the face, we know this.) and removed from the organization, started selling drugs, created his own gang, then started to hunt Jiwoo down then tried to kill her again! Then of course let's not forget his vendetta against Dongcheon. After he was caught trying to kill Jiwoo, Mujin slashed him and kicked him out of Dongcheon. Then, with his newly created gang, he also begun sought out revenge against Dongcheon... It's a lot, I know. Let's talk about it.
Man was a literal psychopath; I'm not going to deny it.
How you gonna get so butthurt at the fact a woman beat your ass at a competition that you wanted to kill her...Talk about fragile ego. I just know that when him and Jiwoo were in the last round of the fight competition, he was definitely trying to kill her. I don't know how long Gangjae had been in Dongcheon but I'm gonna guess it was a long ass time. So that means there were a lot of competitions taken place and a lot of chances that he'd win or lose. So, if a man beat him near to death to win, it was okay, but a woman winning was punishable by death?... Can you say ✨Toxic Masculinity✨ Like?! Gangjae, babe, it ain't that deep. I also found it so funny how it was his own fault he got kicked out of Dongcheon but he continued to blame Jiwoo, like bro take some accountability please.
Then let's talk about the Gangjae creating his own gang and trying his hardest to get his petty ass "revenge"
While Gangjae's reign of terror definitely showed his deeper descent into darkness, it was also him trying to prove himself to everyone. (Major daddy issue's) He had already been humiliated in front of his brothers of Dongcheon when Jiwoo rocked his shit, and it just went downhill when Mujin sliced and diced him before he kicked him out of Dongcheon. Think of it as a "Anything you can do; I could do better." trope. Except he really didn't need to do all that but of course we all know how that story ended...but we don't talk about that.
There really wasn't anything redeemable about Gangjae. Even on a personal level, they didn't give us a single crumb of who Gangjae was as a character before he joined Dongcheon. We don't know how Gangjae ended up the way he was. We don't know if he was made like that or born like that. Was he a sad lil loser looking at a chance for a "better" life or was he always the psychotic hottie we know, and love and Mujin just saw him as a good asset to Dongcheon?
That's for our delusions to decide.
Do Gangjae, a small asset to Dongcheon but a big asshole in life. I christen thee, unfixable.
(But I still could definitely fix him.)

Bargain
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Bargain (2022, South Korea)
Director: Jeon Woo Sung
Writers: Jeon Woo Sung, Choi Byeong Yun & Kwak Jae Min (based on the short film by Lee Chung Hyun)
Mini-review:
I have to say I loved how batshit crazy and unhinged this drama is. You can never really know what it's going to throw at you next, and I feel like that's very hard to achieve these days. Beyond that, the drama makes brilliant use of its long single-take, real-time scenes, which make you feel like you're right there with the characters. The sets are also incredible, and they make the whole thing feel so claustrophobic (in a good way, I guess). On top of that, Jeon Jong Seo, Jin Seok Kyu and Chang Ryul give three show-stopping performances that certainly rank among the very best of their careers. Tbh, I can understand why many people disliked it (the characters tend to ramble, the epilogue feels very unnecesary and sometimes it gets a bit too crazy), but I personally enjoyed every second of Bargain.

Title: #Bargain
Main Cast: #JeonJongSeo #JinSeonKyu #ChangRyul
Episodes: 6
Platform: #ParamountPlus
I totally wasn't expecting this wild ride. It was just crazy from the very start but by the second episode it was full blown nuts lol! Basically you start by getting thrown into an organ harvesting ring when supposedly and earthquake hits and then it's just a free for all trying to get out of the crumbling hotel. Jong Seo killed her part and Seon Kyu was a total weirdo lol. This was so different from a lot of the dramas I've seen but I would say it's a dark comedy. I thought it ended well on it's own but I did see on the main poster it says part 1 which usually means they are at least thinking of a part 2 which I could totally see. I absolutely loved it so I definitely recommend!

Daily Dose of Sunshine. 8
Story: 8
Acting: 10🔥
Chemistry: 9
Comparable to: it’s okay that’s love (kdrama) ; move to heaven (kdrama) ; soul mechanic (kdrama); it’s okay to be not okay (kdrama)
It’s has an excellent storyline from start to finish with a phenomenal cast who all acted their butts off in this one. Each episode's story/arch portrayed the patient's perspective on mental illness through both eyes which was done beautifully and respectfully except for one where I thought it turned out a bit sour. I understood they wanted the drama to take a mid dark spin but they used him so carelessly for the main lead at one point to further main lead’s arch. (Trying to not spoil anything) Other than that love the drama to pieces. Park Bo Young was amazing in this. Fair warning, it does have many triggers if you’re sensitive to this type of subjects.

Daily Dose of Sunshine
my bae park bo young ilysm
hiiii we’re back after a kdrama hiatus!! i finally found a drama that i wanted to watch all the way through.
i. the storyline was top tier. i felt so sad seeing that da eun was made fun of for her extra caring nature rather than being applauded but it’s really the sad reality of the medical profession around the world. the love stories felt so real and while it felt annoying to see deul re reject the doctor again and again i actually somehow understood it. even song yu chan, it felt nice how he wasnt ever sidelined, like i loved him as the second lead while still hoping she’d end up with the doctor.
ii. THE ACTINGGGGG omg fron the patients to the staff i LOVED everyone so much that it actually felt sad when the show ended. it felt like i was saying goodbye to friends. chang ryul made me miss his character in my name so i went and watched him being a crackhead as do gang jae then simped over him some more. he was such a cutie in this one and i loved it. park bo young served as always i saw some of the doom at your service acting here and it made me miss the good days so much. yeon woo jin was SO good i loved his character so much.
iii. everything felt so raw but at the same time it was so right, yk? like nothing felt forced but it felt like something personal is happening. it was truly painful to see what happened with kim seo won bec i really loved him so much.
this show is much like it’s okay to not be okay, in a way that makes you realise the tragedies that are so present around us, and the stigma and prejudice around mental illnesses still. please watch it.
8/10

People affect each other in various ways. At times in sad ways, at times in painful ways, and in ways that ail those around them. However, at times, the stone we cast to change ourselves can start a ripple that doesn't stop at us, but goes on to reach those on the other side as well.

Daily Dose of Sunshine
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023, South Korea)
Directors: Lee Jae Kyu & Kim Nam Su
Writers: Lee Nam Gyu, Oh Bo Hyun & Kim Da Hee (based on the webtoon by Lee Ra Ha)
Mini-review:
When I heard this drama was coming out, I got a bit worried, since k-dramas don't have the best track record when it comes to handling this topic. Thankfully, this show's team mostly pulled it off. Sure, it falls into stereotypes from time to time, but its focus is always on empathy, acceptance and tolerance. It really tries to make the viewer understand how hard and undeservedly misunderstood mental illnesses are. For better or worse, that also means the drama doesn't shy away from showing the darkest parts of these illnesses, so please be very careful if this topic is triggering for you, cause there are a lot of hard-to-watch scenes. In terms of acting, the entire cast is great, especially the actors playing the patients, and Park Bo Young. In fact, this might arguably be her career's crowning achievement. The one thing I didn't really like were the romantic parts. I just didn't care for any of the romances, and the show would've been better off without them. Anyway, Daily Dose of Sunshine surprised me by handling a complex topic in a much more humane and hopeful way that I expected.
