every time someone in a discussion about breeding for BOAS reduction in pugs says to 'look up this program called Retromops' i slip a little arsenic into the produce section at the grocery store

#the chances of getting one of them are slim #but grow a little every time 🙏#listen: we all know about retromops.#and because everyone knows about retromops and they went viral a decade ago its now being slapped on every puggish mix with a nozzle #regardless of overall health or ethics in breeding which #is one of the great challenges independent breeding programmes face.#second: independent programs like retromops are irrelevant to the general health of a breed because most of the time #the dogs in question are neither elgible for stud book registration or #are trusted or accepted by the breed community at large #so you can drool over them as much as you want and while we can hope the individual dogs are bred to a good ethical standard #it wont help pugs as a breed because those dogs will never reenter the gene pool.#which is frankly my worry re: the new skk guideline illustrations as well. you actually need both judges to judge by them -#and breeders to breed by them and so far #breed communities have NOT received it well.#i HOPE its just a bump in the road and it will end up having positive effects! but right now there are other things im #more optimistic about. such as entering the first generations of fully BOAS graded breeding stock

she is based on the story/universe that my friend @haydardotjpg's OCs indra and yuwei exist in! pls go checkout haydar's art he is amazing!! his ocs can be found more easily on his ig but if you're lazy this is his oc indra (cempaka's one-sided love interest) and yuwei (indra's fated lover)

also, cempaka means "magnolia" in malay!! (she gets a flower name bc my name is lilly which is also flower c:)

i accidentally had "poinsettia" flower in mind when i did this iteration instead of an actual magnolia, hence the color scheme. but yeah, this is as self-insert as it gets LOL like she's literally MEEEEEE but still very different and i love her as she is <3

Answering My Own Height Questions

*I want to apologize for everyone being untextured, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to load the textures in Blender. Besides, this should make it easier to see anyway.

While I was poking around, I decided to go ahead and definitively answer my question from a while back about how tall DJSS is.

At a quick glance, the undisputable answer appears to be that he's shorter than Tatiana, but taller than Neon J... barely.

This doesn't consider the thickness of his helmet (unless you think the helmet is his head), but even so, this difference is so small, that it's easier to say that they're about the same height.

BUT

As we know from the Christmas DLC, DJSS's feet do not sink completely into the soles of his shoes.

So adjusting for where his feet would actually touch the ground, DJSS is actually shorter than Neon J. by a good couple of inches, but still taller than Mayday.

(Not that it really matters in fanart, since they're usually wearing their default outfits anyway, so even pointing this out is basically null~)

I also wanted to check Eve against the others, and with heels she's still shorter than NJ and DJSS.

This shot was taken before I adjusted for shoe height for DJSS/Eve, but with adjustments, DJSS is still just a little taller than Eve (it's about the same difference as Neon J. vs. DJSS with shoes).

So, I've a got a win for short!DJSS, but a loss for 2nd tallest!Eve, UmU. (Tatiana is the tallest member of NSR, not counting *Sayu, who I consider a special case.)

*Sayu is in scale to her B2J battle, meaning she's a giant compared to everyone else, so I didn't include her.

And of course I had to do B2J, Kliff, and Tatiana for my own amusement.

I didn't order them by height this time, but the grid guide should suffice. It's a little hard to say if Kliff or Zuke is actually taller since their hair is so dense, but considering that Kliff also wears shoes with a heel, I'm gonna err on Kliff being *just* a hair shorter than Zuke, but they're really about the same. However, Tatiana is actually about a whole head taller than Kliff putting him at perfect motorboating height.

I wanted to check the sewer gang too, but their models are not created equal, and I don't think they're in scale with each other.

Maybe it's just me, or because he's asserting dominance, but Zam seems bigger than he should be, and Gigi/Yiruk look a little smaller than they should be. Robot could be to scale, but I think he looks a little big too.

As my final bonus, I wanted to compare Yinu and 1010 to see how accurate my "Heart and Soul" sketch would have been and...

Nope. Handholding is basically impossible for them. At best, Yinu might be able to grab one of his fingers, but it'd be straining to do so unless he hunched over. So, it'd be even more impossible in my fic where she's younger and presumably even shorter, and the MKI is implied to be bigger and bulkier.

im actually really good at admitting when i dont know things its just that people keep talking to me about things that i know a lot about and am objectively correct on

#this is a cartoony exaduration of a very real sentiment #whoch is that im often told that i come off like i 'need to be right about everything'#but i have achived a place in my life where i recognize when i dont have all the info or perspective nessesary need to Listen #and that i dont have to have a strong opinon abt everything #and that admitting that i lack knowledge or opinion rather than masking that with false confidence is better in the long run #bc it dosent put you on defense - makes you more receptive to new information + perspectives + corrections #its just that people will try to tell me their opinions about lawn mowers and im not going to pretend like i dont know more than them #when i do. which happens to be all the time #never met a person whos done as much reaserch on lawns + lawn care industry and related issues such as sore machines #(small off road engines)#i know theyre out there but the chances of me finding them is small and i have yet to do so #and then people try and give me their opinions abt this subject and if THEY dont shut up and listen i go rabid #like i know when its my turn to shut up and listen but sometimes im right and OTHER people need to be shutting up and listening #but also even outside of that i tend to come off as harsh/agressive/judgmental even when relaying info that im not obsessive abt like lawns #its the autism. i just word things blunt and talk with flat affect and dont know how to soften the blow well when correcting people #or even just adding my own perspective + ideas to convo without intent of 'correcting' anyone #such is life i suppose #just so long as nobody tries to tell me lawns are ethical ill be fine #<- remembers when i made a post that accidently got attention abt this subject and melted down #bc the strangers on the internet dont understand that this is my WHOLE THINF #if you knew me in real life youd understand. its my passion #text #im putting this is the lawn tag actually #lawn posting

On the subject of gotham county line and batman noel and so on and so forth it’s pretty frustrating (from a watsonian pov) that anytime Bruce hallucinates Jason being loving/ caring/helpful/compassionate towards him it’s always as robin and never as his current self

#it's ironic because Jason as robin never got the chance to become as obedient & devoted (malleable) to Bruce as he currently is #which is a result of being abused/manipulated for a more prolonged period of time #“maybe if I try harder and do it right this time he'll finally see the truth”#classic abuse tactic #no matter how well the victim fits the mold set by the abuser they’ll never acknowledge it #rather if they see you trying they’ll push harder and tell you you’re not perfect #the small shreds of affection here and there are important for motivating the victim to keep trying #kelseethe #Jason initiating the hug in rhato 27 after Bruce insinuated that those beatings will be a regular occurence bc he deems it a necessity #continuing to support Bruce even after Ethiopia and sticking around to help get Damian back #eagerly cooperating with Bruce + co in event leviathan then getting surprise pikachu faced/hurt after being betrayed #making a conscious decision to comfort Bruce in gotham war after Bruce fucked him up and left him behind #having undying conern for Bruce's wellbeing while Bruce regularly endangers his life #ex. Bruce's weird habit of committing vehicular assault on Jason whenever they're on the road demonstrated both in tfz and gotham war #point being: Jason was much more psychologically fit to be defiant towards Bruce when he was robin compared to now #he's more of a “good son”™ now than he was as robin Bruce is just too used to thinking whatever he wants and never being satisfied #the only times Jason got mad/upset at Bruce during one issue and continued to stay mad until the next #other than lost days and utrh was batman 410-411 and early in aditf before Bruce helps Jason find Sheila #so much worse has happened since then and all that just magically became water under the bridge off-panel

It's that time...

GEORGE C. SCOTT CHRISTMAS CAROL TIME!

I love this movie, in my opinion it's the PERFECT adaptation (I'm not including the Muppets version because otherwise that would be the winner).

But this one... oh my god, it's ACTUALLY spooky! It's ACTUALLY appalling, the way we see people suffer in this one from Scrooge's cruelty, and the cruelty of men like Scrooge.

We get Ignorance and Want in that one, which to my knowledge only a couple of filmed adaptations have done??

And George C. Scott... he's the most perfect Scrooge I've ever seen??? Because he's BELIEVABLE. There's something to be said for how naturally he slips into the role of a cruel old man made to exemplify the cruelty of the upper class. A man who was generally regarded as grumpy and crotchety but also kind. Hell, he once threatened to quit a movie entirely because the director was speaking poorly of the bit actors.

And the Christmas Ghosts!!! Oh my GOD the Christmas Ghosts!!! Jacob Marley is so horribly unnerving (because he doesn't BLINK pretty much the entire scene he's on screen for!). Past is strange and mystical in a way that makes you wonder if ever she was human at all, Present is robust and jovial while simultaneously giving Scrooge some of the more powerful reality checks (and does NOT bite his tongue -- he is HARSH), and Future... good god. The way the ghostly wailing and moaning sounds like metal creaking and scraping against itself, like a rusty cemetery gate? Incredible. Horrifying.

The whole movie is beautiful, an incredible adaptation, the costumes are second only to the Muppets, and you find yourself so easily lost in the story.

So, this holiday season, WATCH THE GEORGE C. SCOTT CHRISTMAS CAROL TV SPECIAL FROM 1984!!!
