Episode 8 of Katsugeki/ Touken Ranbu. I have nothing to say but wow. We saw the aftermanth of the battle of last weeks episode. Saw the second unit come back together. And at the end see them head out for a new mission.
Overall a calm episode, loved every minute of it. Saw more of my favs.
The fact we saw the aftermath was interesting, i had never thought in game that there would be stuff happenening, i always asumed the guys beat them before they had the chance to do anything really major, and in a sense i was right, but seing the minor things. Man that stung, those people losing loved ones, just people in general dieing that shouldn't have died. Man Honebami i seriously feel you. Also the first unit offering the victims of the aftermath food that was lovely to see, also they do this out of their own will not because their saniwa asked them to. Can i get a sepparate show just focusing on the first unit? Like have both shows run simultaniously, because i also love the second unit and don't want one over the other.
Speaking of the second unit. Izuminokami still has some mental scars of the last mission, dispide it being a succes just barely, still there was a lot that went wrong, but hey it was their first mission together, and now they have gotten to know each other better im sure they are gonna kick some ass next episode. But yeah i wonder how Izuminokami's mental scars are gonna kick in. Also with Mikazuki right before they leave he tells them the important part they need to remember, i wonder how that is gonna pack out with Kane-san's already weakened mental state, but i feel like in the next episodes somewhere kane-san is gonna come to a conclusion on what his words in episode 6 ment, because on one hand Mikazuki is really direct with words (at least in game he is, and in this episode to) but in his and Kane-san's conversation he was kinda vague, then again Kane-san was being vague in his questions too, i need to watch the scene again before i can come to a conclusion here. But really Mikazuki really fits the bill of a mentor character, he gives answers to others questions but also doesn't completely spell it out to them, it might seem he didn't really help much at first but later they wil realise what he ment with those words. I feel that in one of the last episode's Kane-san and Mikazuki will have a conversation again just to let this come full circle.
O boy i talked a lot on one tiny part, but next the parts were we got to see the Second Unit come back together again, loved it, also Mutsunokami XD seriously he just makes me smile when he's on screen. And yeah like Horikawa said he and Kane-san really are alike in some ways yet are also different. Anyway just putting it out there if Kane-san really didn't want him back on the team he would just have told him to get lost right after they greeted each other instead of letting him trail behind them, so yeah Mutsu's freakout not really needed if you think about it, but it shows character in the fact Mutsu needed to hear the words that he was still in the team, i like that.
Also everyone giving Tonbokiri the same gift of Daifuku XD, but they tried at least. I hope he packed some for on the journey as a snack or something. God the anime makes me like Tonbokiri even more than i already liked him. Good job Ufotable.
Also Shokudaikiri showed up even if it was for a tiny bit. Huray for sword dad to finally have some lines in this show, even if it was only for talking about a tomato and giving Turumaru an okey to go. I still loved it.
I know this show is not for everyone, but please respect people that do like the show. But i will say this show has some good action, and the characters... Well they are kinda tropey, but what i know about the characters thanks to the game, i know there is more to these guys that you might initally think, its a historical anime so yeah do some research, anime doesn't explain the events and previous owners of the swords, so you may wanna look this up. But yeah it's japanese history so for their home audience they probably don't have to go into much detail, and game players of course. I wish i knew what most of these event were but i don't, but i still watch it to see my guys animated, and focus on the stuff i do know, and i'm statisfied with this. And most complaints i've seen on the show were just petty at best, the most heard complaint was "were are the female character?" Like really people, if you don't like an all guys cast just watch one of the hundereds anime with all girls casts. And they also all pretty much dississed this show as a yaoi instandly, well guess i can say all this girl cast anime are all Yuri anime. Which i know they aren't. Seriously what happened to just letting people watch the shows they want without complaining right at the first or second episode. Just let us enjoy our shows in Peace.
#touken ranbu#chan watches katsugeki/ touken ranbu#anime#slight rant#Sorry i just had to let that out at the end.#Just hate those petty coments where i watch the show#I normally like reading comments to see what others thought about it.#And to see if other people noticed stuff i didn't#But those baseless petty complaints#No just no#Most of these are easily fixed by just reading about the source material first#In fact it's how i diside what shows im gonna watch#I read what it's about first#Instead of jumping right in.

Thank you so much for the likes, reblogs and follows! You made us really happy and for our still young sideblog this is really success so we want to show our gratetude somehow ^^
So…
We accept imagine/scenario requests, requests for printscreens and/or gifs and also custom header and profile images *.* Feel free to ask anything.
Only the imagines are (obviously) limited to the anime (and otome games) posted here or mentioned in the tags (we kind of watch a lot of anime so that shouldn’t be a problem ^^ they don’t even fit in the tags), but for gifs and wallpaper you can name any anime.
For screens and gifs just name the anime and episode, maybe your preferable character and I’ll make it for you. We want to see what you guys want!
Also, wallpapers and icons will be made by Kitsune-chan, so she will put her rules below. ^-^
~Kurohime
Hellou!!
So, you can request any anime character to be put on a wallpaper. There can be more than one but I advise to keep it below three since then the ‘wall’ will look too crowded.
Also, if you’re interested in one of the existing wallpaper you can search them under the tag ‘techno wallpaper’.

Scrinkly scrumblo blumbo blorbo, or whatever simlish the post contains since I forgot: Tourabu?
Touken Ranbu, huh.
Blorbo: Uhhh, I have a lot. My top favorite has always been Kane-san, but behind him, there are Ichi-nii, Yagen, Manba-chan, Hakusan, Daihannya, Hime, Juzu, Jiji...
Scrunkly: I count many of the smol toudans as my babies but Hakusan is my favorite baby boy~
Scrimblo bimblo: Hmm, I think Hakusan counts? I rarely see other people talking about my precious boy. ☹️
Glup shitto: Hijikata-san in Katsugeki Touken Ranbu. I am biased. 😅
Poor little meow meow: I do not have any problematic/controversial faves. (I count Kikkou and Sengo in that category but I generally avoid them.)
Horse plinko: Chougi, heh. I just like to watch him fall from his high horse.
Eeby deeby: No one. No one is that hateful to me. I think.

Fall Anime 2017
It’s that time of year again...school. With college, work, dance practice, etc., it’s been a struggle to keep up and finish all of the anime that I’ve been watching since summer. However, I’ve been able to successfully, yet reluctantly, finish shows like Hitorijime my Hero, Tsurezure Children, Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu, etc. Sadly, other amazing shows such as Boku no Hero Academia and Gamers! (which managed to pleasantly surprise me) are about to end this week. :( But since October literally starts next week and I’m about a foot deep into the fall semester at school, I’m looking forward to what the FALL SEASON OF ANIME will bring, and potentially hinder me from being on top of my school work.
Here are the shows that I am planning on watching (WARNING: get ready for a long list...sorry lol):
- Shokugeki no Soma: San no Sara
Need I say more???
- 3-gatsu no Lion 2
Really enjoyed the first season and I’m looking forward to how it continues. For anyone who hasn’t watched this yet...give it a chance. You won’t regret it.
- Osomatsu-san 2
AHHHHH SHIIIIIIT MY FAV IDIOT BROTHERS ARE BACK!!!
- Mahoutsukai no Yome
After watching the OVA episodes for this show, I have the urge to watch it as a full length show. (btw myanimelist had it listed as airing in the summer, but it should air in the fall)
- Tsukipro The Animation
I have no excuse. I just like watching bishounen boys singing.
- Code:Realize : Sousei no Himegimi
A reverse harem anime with a veteran voice cast...GIVE. ME.
- Just Because!
Reading the premise gave me Tsuki ga Kirei (if you don't know what I’m talking about refer back to my spring anime list) vibes.
- Dynamic Chord
Again, singing bishies.
- Animegataris
I think its time to watch an anime about high school students forming an anime research club. Just. Yes.
- Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte Kara
This is one of those anime that lasts only 5 min per episode but the premise seemed really adorable!
- Black Clover
Ok watching this was a last minute decision, but after watching the PV and looking at the cast list, I have to check this out.
Leftovers:
- Ballroom e Youkoso
I’m already hooked on the new opening. I pretty much caught up with the manga so I’m looking forward to how everything will be animated.
Shows that have second seasons coming out but I haven't watched yet:
- Kekkai Sensen
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this show and I’ve wanted to watch it for awhile. I’ll get to it...once I watch the 1st season.
- Himouto! Umaru-chan
This anime seems really adorable and I’ve also thought about watching this. Hopefully, I get to it soon... T^T
Movies:
- Free! Take Your Marks
IT’S FREE. NUFF. SAID.
- Donten ni Warau Gaiden: Ketsubetsu, Yamainu no Chikai
I never thought that they’d make a movie for this show. But lo and behold, it’s coming. When this show came out in 2014, I really enjoyed it. Watch it if you haven't yet!
Holy Jesus this was a long list. If you’ve managed to get through this list, then kudos to you!
I highly doubt I will be able to keep up with everything that I listed, but I will try. I’m in my last year of my undergraduate program at my university and I have to write two very important 20-25 page papers for my two majors before December. RIP. Plus, I’m learning Japanese. It’s not easy but I’m really enjoying it. Even though I’m busier and more tired than ever, having time to relax and watch anime is really important to me. For those of you who are struggling in school at the moment, remember to take time to sit down and watch an episode of anime. It’s important to be diligent with your work, but it’s equally important to treat yourself and enjoy life. Good luck with school and thanks for reading!

2017/10/14 Blog post by Hikaru 『今月の映画館』
『Cinema of the Month』 Even if you properly enjoyed it until its very ending a great work has an immense lasting effect… I always end up being sucked right into its world. This is Hikaru. [“e-endingu-ending”, “i-ii-good”, “ga-gattsuri- firmly” => eiga=movie]
We have reached mid-October. It has quickly become much colder .... How is everyone doing? One of my goals for this year was to watch many movies at the movie theater! Of course this month I just had to watch「Fate/stay night[Heaven's Feel] I.presage flower」 on its first day of release (* '꒳ `*) It’s a new movie version of the Fate Series, Kalafina have been involved in the TV anime of that series. Lots of people have yet to watch it so I can’t talk about any of the details...The heroine of this route is Sakura Matou-chan (the story is based on a game). In 「Fate/stay night」 we followed the route of Saber, in「Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]」 we got to watch Rin Tousaka-chan’s route and now it’s Sakura-chan’s turn ♪ In the original game, Sakura-chan’s route could only be accessed after you finish the first two routes. So personally I’d recommend you watch the previous two works before going to see this movie! The colours and facial expressions of each character, the sceneries, the battle scenes, the music, everything was beyond great…I am definitely gonna go and see it again because I am really interested in all the details! That’s the kind of movie it was (*´꒳`*) And since it is part of a trilogy…I am super curious about the next part! Every time I see all these names in the end-credits, names of people I owe so much to, I keep bowing to them in my mind (^-^)(._.)(^-^)(._.) *laughs* While doing that, I realised once again that I am indebted to a lot of people! I was truly moved by this movie which so many people helped creating…it made me realise that I really wanna take part in the creation of such a work again ...wouldn’t that be nice? ... *bitter smile* Those who attended the premiere also received a special present...postcards! We also got a 『Fate/Grand Order』formal dress card [*No idea if I am translating this correctly]. I really cashed in, it was totally worth leaving the house ♪ Another thing connected to Fate ... I actually went to see the "Fate/Grand Order" stage play ♪ Seeing the legend of Camelot come to life in 3D made it so much more realistic, it was really exciting to get a taste of it, I was truly moved to tears, my love for the characters become so much stronger ... such a wonderful play! I am also planning to talk about the last episode of the TV anime 「Katsugeki! Touken Ranbu」 for which we provided the ending theme. I want to make sure that everyone has seen it by the time I will talk about it, that’s why I was careful not to write anything yet. All the autumn animes have started as well so I am sure it will be okay to write about it soon...! Well, until next time. ♪ Hikaru ♪

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen 1 | Gakuen Babysitters 1 | Idolish7 3 | Zoku Touken Ranbu Hanamaru 1 | Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san 1 | Miira no Kaikata 1 | Death March 1
The debuts for the winter season keep coming, but we’re almost at the end of them with this post.
Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card 1
Note I don’t have any prior experience with Cardcaptor Sakura aside from 1 volume of manga and watching the show in passing while other people were watching it, plus knowing about a few spoilers and the show’s reputation as a seminal magical show show…then in more recent days, I finished 2 episodes of it (in fact as of the day I’m typing this, I finished episide 2 today!).
This OP makes Sakura look like later-stage Sailor Moon, and I think that’s the point.
Where did the bear in Syaoran’s hand go when Sakura hugged him?
Eriol! I don’t really know much about him, and I knew I should’ve known about him before starting this, but…it was a bit of a shock to see a character I technically haven’t seen the debut of with my own eyes.
I get the feeling these are the “two bears” from the prologue OVA…
Emails! In the world of Cardcaptor Sakura! Wow, I feel old…and I didn’t even grow up with her.
Hot dang! Gimme dat bishie (Yue)! I knew he was coming, but…I still don’t really know how he came to be!
Wow, this Yamazaki kid spouts such rubbish! I’m looking forward to seeing him in the main series now.
It’s pretty obvious I need to watch the original before understanding this fully, so I’m putting it on hold.
Gakuen Babysitters 1
I’m here for my Ume and Nishiyama. I’m not particularly good at dealing with kids, especially younger kids, but this doesn’t make me run for the hills either.
Ryuichi involves the kanji for “dragon” and Kotaro has the kanji for “tiger”.
That man with the hat is so not sketchy…
I’ve never heard of NAS before (but I have heard of NAZ through Idolish7).
That joke Saikawa told actually worked! These shows may all be middling this winter, but I’d be happy with even some of them on my docket. I’ve been pleasantly surprised more often than not that I haven’t found “stinker of the season” yet.
The comedy for this show’s really on point, although the overall design is a tad lackluster.
K-Kamitani?! Apparently Ume-chan’s character is Hayato Kamitani, so that’s how Ume got involved, so to speak. This sudden intro of 4 kids works on a story scale, but not in a way any person can process without pausing the video (or getting individual intros later).
Well, there are those individual intros I was asking for. Spoke too soon.
It’s actually kinda sad and quite telling how independent Kotaro is. (I still find it extremely hilarous Nishiyama – whose first name is Kotaro - didn’t voice Kotaro, although from a practical standpoint I understand why.)
Usaida has such bedroom eyes, it’s hard to ignore (because they make him look like En)! Dangit, I want my En back!
This brings back memories. My mum used to deal with kids all the time, and of course I was in the background for some of the shenanigans.
Dragon puppet symbolism, eh? (see the dotpoint a bit back about Ryuichi’s name)
As soon as this guy (who kinda looks like something out of Haikyuu) started demanding Taka come with him, I screamed. That character doesn’t seem very Ume, but…uh, it’s Ume. Gotta deal with it. Now that I listen to their voices properly though, Ume does have a “big bro” voice and Nishiyama a “earnest young man” voice.
Oh dear. Taka’s imprinted on me already, and I don’t even like boys that age.
I haven’t felt a genuine sense of danger from any of these winter shows until this one, so it seems like it’s one of the strongest debuts. Then again, CCS was my frontrunner before this and YuruCamp the second best, so I guess I can’t talk, eh?
Gah, I feel like I wanna cry now. That is a strong premiere!
I have a real problem with how anime tears come out in globs. Then again, I’m too much of a crybaby, as my notes can attest…so I guess no arguing here.
Should it be “Chairman” or “Chairwoman”???
Tsundere grandma. Now there’s something I thought I’d never think in my life…
Oh, I didn’t realise earlier but Taka = “hawk” and Hayato = “falcon man”. Animal jingoism at its finest!
Whoo, that was a real nice debut. I thought I was too old for this stuff, but it’s a keeper!
Idolish7 3
It’s a good thing I chose to cover episodes 1 – 2 so I won’t have to do them now.
I didn’t notice Nagi getting all huggy there with everyone in range (the first time, at least).
In case you don’t know from all the other idol shows, the centre is the one in centre stage. They’re often seen as the leader, so it’s a very important position.
This song can’t be anything but Monster Generation! Woohoo!
Wow, I haven’t seen one of those “watch from a distance” things in a while. Makes me nostalgic.
“Ichi” would probably refer to Iori, right? (He has the kanji for “one” in his name.)
Wowee, Nagi’s entendre…is really thick. Like pudding.
I agree, brothers can be so strange…
“…spoil me sometimes.” - Laying on the entendre thicker than custard here, Iori!
These boys are so into their Magical Kokona. I want in now.
Tamaki really is an En-chan…En-chan! Come back! (But why does Tamaki have no socks???)
These ED outfits are so elaborate! Ooh! Imagine a gender-swapped cosplay of them, that’s be great!
Who’s that on the edge of the ED video though? (You can see something hopping up and down.)
Zoku Touken Ranbu Hanamaru 1
Can we please just call this “Hanamaru 2” like Crunchyroll? “Zoku” just refers to a continuation…anyways, I got Hanamaru season 1 done last year while dealing with Katsugeki, so…here I come, sword boys!
Didn’t Hanamaru get a dub, by the way? Why would you dub this? For me to criticise it? The Touken Ranbu fanbase is kinda small…
W-Wait, did they just write Yams out of this season? Yams is the protag (if not a protag) here! What did Ichiki do now to deserve this???
It was getting too hard to jump through the proxies to play Touken Ranbu as of late, so I deleted my DMM account. Even still, the sword boys have multiplied since I left! Yikes!
Wow, unexpected 1st person bit there, Kashuu/Masuda. I thought I told the industry to stop doing that…
Exposition wave…I don’t need this wave, but I guess anime-only fans might. Carry on, Heshikiri.
So this multiple Konnosuke thing wasn’t a Katsugeki-only gag? Oh dear, my head’s spinning…
I don’t think I noticed, but Kashuu uses a brush (and not a specialty brush provided in the lid of nail polish). Probably because in Touken Ranbu, plastic isn’t much of a concept…
I still appreciate how Kashuu was this Saniwa’s starter. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy for my own TR days…
Photos are a nice way to recap. After all, 1 picture speaks 1000 words.
Wow, Shishiou’s a real chibi compared to these tachi. But Shishiou’s a tachi too…
Dang, I’m jealous. These bros were around when I was a TR player, and I missed ‘em! Dang Kebishii drops!
So that thing really is a nue. I could never see it on Shishiou’s card, y’know.
Hmm…considering the bros are new swords, the Saniwa’s strategy is to level up them up using the younger bro as leader (remember, the leader gets more experience). I see…
A “pincer attack” is a V shape, so the description fits the Crane Wings formation…
I can’t say I wasn’t impressed by Akashi just then. Come to think of it, he didn’t have any battles in Hanamaru’s 1st season.
A double attack suits a pair like this, of course!
Oh my gosh, they even got two dfferent voice actors for the Konnosukes! LOL!
Hanamaru’s EDs kept changing and it seems like they’ll continue to change, eh? This one looks quite spiffy.
The style of this ED doesn’t look like Hanamaru at all. It was probably done by the original illustrator for the swords.
It’s a great return to form for Hanamaru! I’m sold!
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san 1
Another day, another long title…plus this show I would’ve passed on, if not for that resolution…
Michiko Yokote is on a lot of shows I watch. I don’t really know what her influence is, but it seems she’s genuinely competent at what she does.
So…uh, Gendo pose anyone?
I think the teacher is the best part of this. I’ve been a bit of Tonari no Seki-kun, and the pull of that is the sheer ludicrousness of what Seki does with his stuff. However, there didn’t seem to be any intervention aside from Yokoi (I think that was her name)…
Nishikata’s reactions are just way too easy to read…
Well, that was okay, but it’s definitely a show to binge all at once. On to the “on hold” pile it goes.
Wait, but they missed a segment (the 100 yen segment). Gotta skip forward…
I didn’t get any laughs out of that show at all, but it’s still a decent school SoL.
How to Keep a Mummy 1
I have absolutely no experience with this manga, mind you…aside from seeing this tiny mummy on Comico…
Wow, if the mummy can fit in his shoe…how big is it?
The translation of “ready” is surprisingly ganbaru, and there’s a “but” mentioned in the Japanese title missing from the English. Also, “ready” has sexual connotations I’d rather not pair with a tiny mummy…I’d say the translation of the episode title should be something more along the lines of “White, Round, Small, Very Wimpy But [Also] Tries Its Hardest” (“It” being the mummy and not Pennywise…).
Is Dracula even public domain right now? (Does anyone care about the intellectual property of a classic vampire novel anyway? Because I sure don’t.)
Can we please start making jokes about how Sora’s daddy got him a mummy? It may seem childish, but I’m tempted to now.
This mummy is so adorable, I think it even beat out the kids from Gakuen Babysitters! Geesh, I’m spoilt this season! It completely set off my moe senses, and I don’t even have any!
It imprinted on him! Oh wow!
The mummy doesn’t even have a mouth…how can it spit things-oh wait. That’s the joke, isn’t it?
Come to think of it, crybaby characters ae few and far between. However, between this and Devilman…er, Crybaby…they’ve suddenly become popular…I guess?
It’s like a harem, only it’s between a dog and a mummy. Why I never…
One of the best things about anime is that you can learn about other cultures through the things included offhandedly…like that molokhiya thing that Sora mentioned. Apparently it’s a Jewish vegetable of some sort.
Do mummies get jet lag too? I was just thinking how Comico stories, with their full colour and yet simple design (to allow for downward scrolling and intake by the eyes) are perfect for anime.
I listened to the show with volume for once…because Tazuki seems to be the guy voiced by Keisuke Koumoto…and I think I was on the money there. Plus, Sora’s VA really sells the delivery of jokes (although he seems to be voiced by a woman…?)!
Yamanba…like Yamanbagiri’s namesake. The mountain hag, right?
Yep, I was right on the money with Tazuki being Koumoto. Kamitani Tazuki, it seems his name is…
This dance ending’s kind of cute, too. It’s a keeper!
Death March 1
(looks at title just above this dotpoint) C’mon. There’s no way I’m going to repeat “Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody” over and over again for at least 11 or 12 episodes…by the way, I’m here because I was reading a KonoSuba novel and saw an ad for this, just in time for the anime…
“SADA”, my butt…
I love how they almost replicated Windows 8 in this show. Or is it 7, or 10? They don’t show the taskbar, which is the main visual difference between 8 and 10, but either way the Windows replication without being sued is really something…
This OP’s gonna make me dizzy someday…
Classes, eh? So that means Suzuki’s working with an OOP language. Plus you can see Cortana on the computer as the mention of classes goes by, meaning that person’s on Windows 10.
UML.
By the way, Satou is a fairly common name in Japan…at least to my knowledge. But Suzuki is a pretty common one, too, hence the mistake.
The client? Unless Suzuki is referring to the client as in the program, it could also mean the client as in the person/group who wants the game made. Considering what he says though involving a call, it’s probably the latter.
That’s the second show with a lost kid in the first episode. It seems a bit trite, don’tcha think?
According to his phone map (flip phone!), he’s in Akihabara.
FFL…eh? Google says there are multiple Final Fantasy games for Android, meaning I’ve probably thinking of Fire Emblem Fates (which doesn’t match), and there’s no such thing as Final Fantasy 50 (L in Roman numerals) yet.
That’s the second time they mentioned work/daily life being a death march. Can we not???
Come to think of it, Suzuki looks like Nobuaki (King’s Game), which doesn’t bode well for either show.
Apparently you can get Facebook Messenger for Windows 10, which I didn’t know…
“…being a corporate slave.”
C’mon! This ain’t the Animatrix, but still, if you’re trying to make stuff look technological, at least make it look a bit better.
Third time they’ve mentioned “death march”.
It might just be Houseki no Kuni’s fault, but this CGI is really janky.
Welllll…at least it looks like a game.
Welllllllll…at least they knew where to put their money for some sakuga…
This running through fields scene is either a homage to Every Anime Opening ever, or Pokémon. I distinctly remember it being in Emerald’s opening animation, at least.
Dude, if you want to look for a wyvern, do it from the ground where you won’t get injured, dumb Satoo.
Does this look a lot like Berserk (2016) with all its CGI knights…or is that just me?
Zena…? I might be showing how old I am with this (or how much I scour the internet), but…by any chance, do you mean this gal instead?
I think I’ve had enough of this flip for now, so I’m putting it on hold.

Hey, now that majority of the Anime of Summer 2017 have been released I guess it’s finally time for me to give all of you my thoughts on the Anime that I have watched this season, I will also be giving an overall rating based on the first episodes and if it’s worth watching or not! Now let’s start!
MB Oji-san’s thoughts on Summer 2017 Anime
1. Action Heroine Cheer Fruits: So apparently this series focuses on a group of... I believe middle school students, try gaining more visitors to their small home town by creating their own action hero group, which is a popular trend in their year... The series does have quite a simple concept and the character designs are quite nice, a cute girls doing cute things show that has actual goals, kinda reminds me of Sakura Quest with the concept of bringing visitors to a small town in the country but lacks the all the amazing things it has, it’s something easy to watch but nothing fantastic, 6/10 (Try at least 3 episodes if you want to give it a shot) *Update: Dropped, I have better things to do rather than watch a sub-par show about a group of girls becoming a live action hero group. Would have probably enjoyed this if I was still a kid
2. Ballroom e Youkoso: I’ve seen this series jokingly called, “The Straight Yuri on Ice!!” that got a bit of a chuckle from me, but knowing that I was never a big fan of any form of dancing I knew that this series would have to do a lot to get me invested to keep watching it, and surprisingly it did, aside from the designs of Haikyuu! the soundtrack and animation of this show is pretty great and I find it quite amazing that our MC who was questioning himself about his future managed to gain such a great passion of ballroom dancing just from watching his now current tutor doing the art himself during a competition, not to mention all the girls in this show seem really cute (especially the one voice by Sakura Ayane) 8/10 (I highly recommend this show, one of the best of this season but do the three episode rule also if you find yourself losing interest afterwards)
3. Battle Girl High School - Apparently this is a mix of idol and cute girls fight monsters to save the planet series? Well this show has plenty of cute girls, yet the designs are kinda weak (that one girl that looks like Miria from Cinderella Girls always bugs me tbh) the plot is nothing too special, would be something you can get from some random Anime phone game, which this Anime originated from, but tbh some scenes are cute and I did follow this series closely because one of the girls are voiced by Ozora Akari’s seiyuu so... this show might not be for everyone but watch if it if you want to watch cute girls doing cute things while saving the world 6/10 (3 episode rule) *Want to drop, but cannot due to Akari’s VA voicing one of the girls
4. Centaur no Nayami - Here we have this season’s monster girl series... and honestly I find it a bit lacking compared to Winter’s Demi-chan... sure this series may have some Yuri undertones and cute girls but I find this world’s underlining politics and evolution system a bit unsettling... which is apparently connected to the story of our main cast later on but it seems just so oppressive despite the series’ cute SOL look, it’s good though and if you like cute monster girls go ahead and watch it 7/10 (3 episode rule at best)
5. Fate/Apocrypha - Astolfo, Modred, and Jeanne D’Arc, that should be enough for you to watch this Fate series 8.5/10 (Go ahead and watch it, no need to watch all the Fate series, you still should but this is set in an alternate universe) *Update, Changing the score to a 7, not even Astolfo can save this series
6. Hajimete no Gal - the goddamn MC of this series does not deserve Yukana... despite the stereotypes of gyarus, she’s a sweet girl who’s way out of the dude’s league and you almost want to punch him for all the stupid things he does later in the series 6.7/10 (3 episode rule, or watch if you’re a harem ecchi fan) *Want to drop but can’t, I want to see if Yukana dumps the MC’s sorry idiotic ass
7. Hina Logi ~from Luck & Logic~ - This spin-off of the Lock & Logic series has got to be one of the Animes of Summer 2017 that has impressed me the most, despite having a much more moe style compared to the original series, Hina Logi’s OP animated with paper cut-outs was honestly SUPER IMPRESSIVE, it has got to be my fave OP animation of this season. Not to mention the action scenes are impressive as well, the character designs are nothing to write home and this show does have it’s own share of fan service but it’s honestly pretty fun! 7.5/10 (Watch the original Luck & Logic if you wish to view this one, the original is pretty good would rate it the same score as Hina Logi)
8. Isekai Shokudou - honestly one of the best looking shows this season, despite not having too much of a fantasic plot, you can call this series “the fantasy version of Shokugeki no Soma without foodgasms” well sexual ones at least, but just a simple laid back series about a regular restaurant owner serving customers from another world with his cute fantasy world coworkers 8/10 (highly recommend, watch if you want a nice looking laid back series)
9. Kakegurui - man the ugly facial expressions... the stakes of the gambling games... the GREAT OP but s**tty ED... the fan service... this is actually a really good series tbh 7.8/10 (I recommend it, watch it if you want a well animated series with some nice psychological moments and high stakes)
10. Katsugeki Touken Ranbu - Ufotable + Samurais??????.... it’s OK 7.5/10 (3 episode rule at best)
11. Knight's & Magic - Honestly I feel like this series is being over hyped, I don’t know if it’s because the main character that was formerly just a working programmer mecha otaku who is reincarnated as a pretty boy voiced by Megumin’s seiyuu or good ol’ Chu Chu Yeah! fhana singing the OP (tbh I kinda feel the opening to be one of her weaker songs but eh that’s me) but I can hand it to this series for having well animated robot fight scenes and monsters, I’m kind of a hipster so I hate over hyped series but as a reviewer I will not let this effect the score I’ll be giving it 7.5/10 (I recommend it to people who want a pretty good looking isekai series with some badass looking mechas)
12. Koi to Uso - Despite the character designs of this series seeming a bit wacky sometimes, the coloring of this series is absolutely beautiful, and can I just say the concept of government arranged marriages to counter Japan’s declining child birth rate and Lilina was enough to get me to read all the released chapters of the Manga? Heads up, Yusuke is best girl 8/10 (highly recommend if you’re into good romance with some drama)
13. Made in Abyss - Such simplistic character designs yet unique... such a wonderful soundtrack that I was only wishing it could be Post-Rock... wonderful world building of a world so beautiful... this show is also apparently super dark so as a Metal fan... beauty within the darkness is greatly appreciated 9/10 (HIGHLY RECOMMEND but warning, the source of this series shows that the Anime can get SUPER DARK in later episodes so I’ll be giving you a heads up just in case you can’t stomach it, one of my fave Animes of 2017 next to Tsuki ga Kirei)
14. New Game!! - OVERRATED but... nice Yuri vibes, fan service, cute characters and scenes eh 7.5/10 (watch if you have seen the 1st season)
15. Princess Principal - I just can’t get over the character design choice of this series... moe despite being a serious edgy steam punk spy series... well edgy moe series like Yuuki Yuuna are masterpieces so I won’t let it bug me too much, the OST and scenery of this series is great 7.8/10 (watch if you want cute girls doing edgy spy stuff)
16. Tenshi no 3P! - lolis and some loner teenage dude make music, the ED is pretty Metal but god... dude gonna go to jail 6.5/10 (eh 3 episode rule unless you like lolis go for it) *Update: Dropped! I don’t care for the “Metal that’s always used in Anime” ED, I’m not watching this obvious as f**k Lolibait
17. Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou - this has an old anime vibes, which isn’t a negative statement, it’s positive, simply an Anime about a dude who wants to live in his high school's dorms so that he wouldn’t be a burden to his uncle and his family ever since losing his parents and residing in their house, sadly said dorm is burned down in a fire and he ends up living in a supernatural apartment and finding out he has powers to help others, a really nice laid back series the soundtrack choice can suck at times and the character design and coloring is nothing special but I can feel heart in this series 7.5/10 (3 episode rule at best)
18. Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e - this series impresses me, not only with the great coloring and each character have unique individual designs, just the usage of quotes from writers of great and the concept of the students in the school these series takes place in with only the superior classes only truly mattering is a bit cliched but interesting 7.8/10 (3 episode rule at best)
19. Aho-Girl - Funny as heck and short, always making for a good laugh and the fan service in this show merely makes me laugh compared to being aroused, love the voice choices for A-Kun and Yoshiko, reminds me of Yusuke and Futaba from P5 8/10 (highly recommend if you want to laugh)
20. Netsuzou Trap -NTR-: Only 10 minutes or less per episode???? DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well this series already makes me feel conflicted despite being Yuri but damn the Anime ain’t nothing special aside from that 7/10 (uh want Yuri which is super rare, watch it but the NTR element will make you question yourself)
21. Tsurezure Children - Nice, short good romance comedy Anime, makes your heart skip a beat while laughing 8/10 (watch if you want a good short romcom series)
22. Gamers! - I honestly wonder how the studio got all the rights to use all those game refrences, suprisingly is quite a good watch despite the MC being kind of a wimp 7/10 (Watch if you like a different formula to the “club” genre)
23. Teekyu S9 - Time for more wacky Teekyu stuff 6.5/10 (uh you should pretty watch all 8 previous seasons if you want to watch this)
24. Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. - tbh a decent isekai series, not too much of that generic crap and every action the characters do feels meaningful 7/10 (Watch if you want something that’s a mix of serious and comedy isekai)
THOUGHTS ON CONTINUING SHOWS
Aikatsu Stars - Koharu’s back and that’s all I need 7/10 (honestly I see the writers are pulling a “Love Live!” writers move and might make all the future episodes way too similar to the 1st series, which sucks since Stars! felt pretty OK despite the low ratings)
Re:Creators - Overrated, that’s all, this show is getting boring, the girl from the Eroge is saving this show 7/10
Shingeki no Bamahaut: Virgin Soul - Still good, I’m just wondering if Nina will be OK, cause I don’t want anything bad happening to her 8/10
Boku no Hero Academia - I love Ochako, that is all 8.5/10
Sakura Quest - the new OP and ED are “meh” compared to the first ones but the 2nd cour seems pretty good and it was pleasant to hear fluent Spanish in an Anime of all places 8/10
Sagrada Rest - DROPPED, but it’s OK, JJBA Part 5 will come after this boring ass show too ded for me/10

Just watched the latest Katsugeki/ Touken Ranbu episode.
Someone for the love of Kami slap some sense into Horikawa, i understand he wants his former master to live on and be happy. But he needs to rememeber the mission he's on, and the fact Hijikata (corect me if i misspelled it) is not his master anymore, what happens to him right now isn't important. Why are you like this Horikawa??? Also Kane-san seriously work on your pep talks, no wonder Mikazuki had trouble talking to him.
Also seeing Mutsunokami and Kane-san taking down the Ootachi was cool, but kinda underwheling because we saw first unit just tearing through the like wet paper, but i like the team work with Mutsu and Kane-san.
And in all, someone please brin Horikawa to his senses. This guy doesn't feel like the Horikawa i know and love from the game, in the game i know he has his doubts and stuff, but here they cranked it up to 11.
Also Tonbokiri is still best boy... But really we don't see much of him, same with Yagen and Tsurumaru, Yagen is my fav Tantou (and was my first) yet here we barely get some action and things on him, i hope Katsugeki gets a season 2 so we can delve into the history with the other members of the Second Unit. Sure seeing the stuff on Mutso, Kane-san and Horikawa is great, but the others kinda... Get ignored.
Also more of the first unit please??? If season 2 becomes a thing, i want one or two episode's with them again.

summer anime 2017 part 1: we can rebuild it
This season isn’t very hot so far, but since I have a bunch of stuff carrying over, I’m not exactly complaining. Let’s go. We have three shows that share a curious theme, two that curiously do not, and one that’s actually good. Somehow that adds up to ten.
See also:
• part 2: bunch of fools
Battle Girl High School
We start the season with the possibly blandest title for an anime in quite a while. And the show itself easily manages to match the expectations the title raises: It's a high school with a bunch of girls that do battle. And by "a bunch" I mean more than I can offhandedly recall; the spiritual predecessor to this all-you-can-eat buffet of archetypes is clearly Girl Friend Beta (and it's also based on some waifu-collectathon mobile game) - only now with more magical girl henshins and hitting things with stupidly elaborate sticks. Oh and some of them are idols, because of course they are. Honestly there's nothing too objectionable in here, but it's just still an anonymous 24 minutes of mass manufactured anime-shaped packing peanuts.
Enmusubi no Youko-chan
...or "Fox Spirit Matchmaker". I've heard some positive rumblings about the quality of the source material in the run-up to this season, but that just goes to show that you can't trust people who read Chinese webcomics. Fox Spirit Matchmaker is a "romantic action comedy" (i.e., idiotic glutton/lecher guy and naive foxblob get matchmade by happenstance, hilarity and wuxia skirmishes ensue) of the kind that Japan thankfully got tired of a decade ago. The jokes are bad, the execution is so clumsy that they wouldn't land even if they were, and the action is pretty laughable too. There’s a whole bizarre universe that nobody could possibly give a fuck about around it as well, and boy does it want to tell you about it. If that sounds familiar: Why yes, Haoliners is indeed at it again and this is by no means their finest hour either.
Fate/Apocrypha
With the massive amounts of Fate spinoffs around, it can be quite hard to keep track. Apocrypha is an "alternative retelling" of a grail war in a world where Fate/Zero and subsequently Fate/stay night did not happen and everyone decides to have a team deathmatch in Romania instead. Among TRUE FATE MURDERHEADS Apocrypha is mostly known as "the really stupid one", or, if that is ambiguous (which it may well be, given that the competition includes gems such as “Fate, but on the moon”), "the one where one of the Casters is Shakespeare". It's Fate adapted to the sensibilities of a mid-2010 light novel, and while this gives it a certain... exuberance, I don't know if I really care for more slightly different Fate with no less than two Saberclones. The first episode certainly does not help because it spends half the time explaining what a grail war is (and everyone who knows Fate has heard that a hundred times), and the other half on how it's different from the main canon (and everyone who doesn't know Fate would not care about that in the slightest). I still feel tempted to find out how truly dumb this can get, but realistically it would have to be much, much better than it is for me to get over my severe Fate burnout.
Hina Logi - From Luck & Logic
Speaking of established (well, kinda) things getting retooled to other tastes, remember Luck & Logic? It was a pretty pedestrian battle harem that I only remember because it was made by Doga Kobo and looked pretty distinctly cool as a result. Well, now it has a sequel, even though you couldn't tell. Hina Logi goes out of its way to be as different as possible from L&L, and just to start with it's no longer a battle harem, but a Kirara imitator. Of course, the concept of superpowers injected into a cute girls doing fuck all anime would turn out to be mahou shoujo-ish, and the writing even points out how much an universe can change in just a few years - I see what you did there. Doga Kobo excels at exactly this type of show, so this just aligns the franchise more to their strengths, but even in this aspect there's a twist: it looks entirely different, more or less like the sort of glossy but unmemorable show JC Staff would churn out. In any case, I'm talking so much about this franchise mutation because it's really the only interesting thing about it; it's a basic Kiraralike, and you've seen these before. If you watched Hinako Note last season, you might also like Hina Logi. It has fights now.
Isekai Shokudou
The term "isekai" has turned into a very dirty word in the last few years. But one should not forget that it's still a perfectly normal word, and doesn't necessarily refer to the light novel subgenre that has grown around it like a tumor. Just because it's in the title, that doesn't mean Isekai Shokudou is also a light no- Well, okay, it is one. But! It's not in fact about an otaku shitter that gets hit by a car and is reborn in a world where nerds stuff the jocks into lockers with the power of nerd knowledge. Instead it's about a magic restaurant that sometimes connects to a fantasy world, and then the cook serves the fantasy creatures delicious Terran meals. He picks up a demon girl that has fallen on hard times as a waitress. By the way, said cook is voiced by Junichi Suwabe, and Suwabe + cute girl is a classic winning combination that almost managed to save Demi-chan on its own. So Isekai Shokudou is pretty damn cute, and it has a leisurely pace that makes it quite relaxing too. On top of that, it's also funny just because of the absurdity of its concept, without this being played for ha-ha comedy. You can still tell that there's a light novel underneath it by the characteristic over-reliance on flat exposition, but based on episode 1 alone, it's a charming little show and my first real pick of the season.
Kakegurui
Hey guys, do you like Kaiji? Do you like Prison School? Do you like crazy faces? Oh boy have I got the show for you. Kakegurui is about a high school where the entire student body is way into high-stakes gambling, and when the money runs out, there's always femdom to be had instead. Kakegurui is unabashedly sleazy and extremely over the top, and MAPPA bring a lot of skill in direction, animation, editing, music, etc. to the table as well. The thing is just... as ostentatious everything about it is, the core of the show isn't very convincing on a writing level. The gambling mindgames are actually far less complicated than the show would lead you to believe, and the characters are not very profound either when they're just tripping balls and going 150% crazy all the time. The show would need at least one of these to hold up in the long run, and it's not out of the question that it might acquire it; As it is, it's a cool wacky short movie but I have my doubts whether this can carry a whole TV show. But the production values are good enough to give it at least a chance.
Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu
And here we have the third radical reinterpretation of a source material: Touken Ranbu, the sword boyfriend simulator, already had an adaptation by Doga Kobo - and of course that was just Cute Swords Doing Cute Things. Now ufotable is doing their take on it, so it's, believe it or not, a lot like Fate UBW all of a sudden, character design, heavyhanded color correction, 3D CG effects and all - It's a real anime now, with things like plot and characters, and very competently made action show at that, and for some that may be enough. But not only that, it also has the tone and word vomit writing of Fate now, and that's where it gets sketchier. Without affinity for the source material, I find it hard to care about the exploits of big sword man and his small swordsexual life partner, and I care even less about their convoluted, nonsensical time travel scheme that gets explained way past the breaking point. And the action being great doesn't really matter if all they do is effortlessly style all over mass produced smoke monsters with a blade sticking out of them. I also can't shake the feeling that Doga Kobo's version was just a bit closer to the true fujo meaning of Touken Ranbu, if you know what I mean. K/tr seems watchable, but behind the premium production there just doesn't seem to be anything interesting.
Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun
"Keppeki" means "neat freak", and congratulations, you have discovered The Joke. What if a neurotic germophobe was also an extremely talented soccer player? So many opportunities to make the same joke over and over again! It's really quite a shame that this one is so one-note, because the sports show holding it together is actually one of the better soccer anime I've seen - it has good direction and a good pace once the game is on. I also like that the character design looks a lot like ACCA’s. But overall there's not much of that and a lot of The Joke, and even the better bits (like the character design) are marred by egregious overuse of SD comedy that doesn't fit stylistically at all. If I wanted this kind of comedy, I'd rather watch Sakamoto desu ga, and not a less stylish Sakamoto desu ga with frustrating glimpses of a good soccer anime in between.
Knight's & Magic
So, about that isekai. What if I told you that Knight's (the apostrophe is important) & Magic is in fact about an otaku shitter that gets hit by a car and is reborn in a world where nerds stuff the jocks into lockers with the power of nerd knowledge? It's true! Knight's & Magic is probably not the worst of this ilk I've seen, but that's a largely academic distinction. In fact it's quite bizarre that it even is an isekai story; Yeah, a gunpla nerd gets reborn into a world where mechas are real (and it's a fantasy world, which doesn't really make much sense but hey, robots), but there's really no reason he couldn't have come from this world in the first place, especially since he literally gets reborn and we have to watch a boring series of timeskips throughout his whole childhood anyway. Maybe him being a programmer with pop culture hobbies just like you and me will become relevant eventually, but I really don't care to find out.
Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou
And finally, here's a show that reminds us that Haoliners are not the only ones that can create an uncanny valley of competence that is eerily similar to "real" anime but not quite there. And this is a special case - usually this sort of production is attached to very bad ideas, but there's really nothing wrong with the story of a guy who moves into a house that turns out to be co-inhabited by ghosts and other assorted spiritual critters. Nothing, apart from everything: The directing is sluggish, the animation is conspicuously cheap, the writing takes forever just to get to the point that there's g-g-g-ghosts, and the characters are devoid of any personality apart from being scared/not being scared of the youkai menagerie. Do yourself a favor and watch Spirited Away again instead, because this bargain basement TV version with a high school loser up front has nothing to add and a lot to subtract.

FictionJunction Club Newsletter Vol#34 - Summer/Autumn 2017 Q&A
The most recent FJC newsletter is being sent out right now and lots of people have already received their copy. Turns out that they have removed pretty much the entire Kalafina content except for their short intro comments and the following Q&A. I thought I’d do a quick translation since I have always enjoyed reading their answers to such casual questions :-)
All right, here we go 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
01. What’s the most memorable thing that happened this summer?
KEIKO: This year I went to the Anpanman Museum together with my little niece, she had wanted to go there forever. Both my niece and I had been looking forward to that day, we literally counted the days till our visit and she would often facetime me and say things like, “Am I gonna get a hug from Dokin-chan?”, “Baikinman is so scary!!! Kei-tan is gonna protect me from him, right??” Ah, it really made my heart melt. Since it was her first time, I wanted to make the day super special for her, we thoroughly explored the entire Anpanman Museum....(I also had loads of fun (‐^▽^‐) ♪) *laughs* Character dolls were lined up everywhere, we took an endless amount of pictures *laughs* While watching the “Dadandan-Show” I laughed a lot at my niece’s reactions, “Kyaaa! So big!!! So scary!!!” Then when we were finally close to Dokin-chan my super shy niece became really embarrassed and didn’t dare to move forward. That’s when auntie Keiko had to step in. I picked her up and carried her all the way to meet Dokin-chan *laughs* She wouldn’t let go of me until we had finished saying hello to Dokin-chan. That day I got a more intense work-out than I would usually get at the gym... ♪
WAKANA: I can’t decide on just one! First of all, we successfully finished our 「Kalafina “9+ONE”」 tour! We also released our new song 「Hyakka Ryouran」 and we got the chance to perform it on various occasions. All in all, 13 domestic performances as well as 3 overseas performances came safely to an end. We started our tour back in April and we finished it in the midst of hot summer. It made me very happy that in addition to feeling the turn of season we could celebrate Kalafina’s 9th Anniversary together with all of you by venturing into our past and enjoying our music together like this. At our final domestic concert in Fukuoka we got to perform our new song 「Hyakka Ryouran」 together with our band for the first time, aside from that, we got to hear and perform many different arrangements of it during various release events, fan club events as well as acoustic lives.
HIKARU: The release of our single 「Hyakka Ryouran」, the ending theme for the TV anime 『Katsugeki / Touken Ranbu』 ♪
02. The turn of the season is upon us, is there anything you pay close attention to during this period?
KEIKO: I do this all year round but I will be sure to take in many suppliments such as Propolis and Royal Jelly, I’ll be sure to always carry Manuka Honey with me. I will also change my work-out routine according to the needs of my body. During this time of the season I get out of breath quickly so instead of choosing intense workouts that make it hard to breathe I do a lot of pilates and stretching which allow me to take deep breaths. Proper meals are also very important so I’ll try to keep in mind to eat lots of warm food. I’ll prepare large quantities of miso soup or pork soup and I will always carry a portion with me in a soup jar ♪
WAKANA: During summer I usually try my very best not to use air conditioning (I belong to the faction that fights off the summer heat just by using an electric fan). Only at night when it is so unbearably hot that I have trouble sleeping, I will turn on the air conditioning in the evening. In this case I will make sure to wear pyjamas with long-sleeves and pants and I’ll use a very thick and warm comforter. This way I go to sleep 100% prepared for the coldness. So that’s what I do during the midst of summer *laughs* Now during autumn when it becomes increasingly colder, I pay even closer attention to what I am wearing when I go to bed (I try to keep everything covered from head to toe). More than usual I try to keep my body hydrated and I am doing my best to get my body ready and strong for the upcoming winter season. In addition, I also change the amount of water and nutrients I give to my plants at home so I watch all of them closely to find out whether or not they approve of all those changes.
HIKARU: I am checking out all the upcoming autumn animes.
03. What’s your favourite time of the day on a summer day, is there a particular thing you enjoy doing at that time?
KEIKO: Ahhhhh, this is a really hard question!! (/ω\) I really love the fragrance of early summer...It’s so refreshing and I don’t know how to say it but it conveys a sense of green and blue; rather than wanting to relax it makes me buzz with energy, that’s the fragrance of early summer ♪ As for something I enjoy…I guess my answer would be...the streets. I love to just walk straight ahead through the streets at my own pace while watching the retreating forms of local students rushing to their destinations.
WAKANA: During dusk, just before the sun is setting, when the heat becomes more or less bearable, I love to relax on my sofa enjoying the gentle breeze of my fan. Just watching the sunset. The evening sun in summer is truly beautiful.
HIKARU: The warm evening.
04. When is the time you start thinking, 「Ah yes, summer is slowly coming to its end~」?
KEIKO: I guess when the evening wind starts feeling really nice... and once the summer menus are exchanged with autumn menus in all the cafés...? *laughs* This year I wasn’t able to do any of the typical summer stuff so I didn’t really notice the end of summer. I have decided that next year I definitely wanna go to the beach, enjoy some proper barbecues and truly experience all the sensations of summer. Then the end of summer will most likely feel much more sudden ♪
WAKANA: Once it gets a little cooler but the temperatures during the day are still pretty much the same as they were a month ago. When the noises of insects really stand out from evening to nightfall. In the mornings when I decide on my outfit and I end up going for something with long sleeves or a coat. I tend to wear long-sleeved things even during summer but once the temperature drops considerably at night and I am opting for jackets and warm cardigans, I really know it’s autumn.
HIKARU: Once Shine Muscat grapes are being sold everywhere ♪
05. I wonder, what’s a song you always find yourself listening to during this season?
KEIKO: I always end up listening to classical music. I listen to a lot of musicians such as Taro Hakase-san* and Nobuyuki Tsujii-san. Mostly instrumental pieces with piano and strings arrangements. Recently I have enjoyed listening to the 「Music Collection」 of 「Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica」. I can really recommend it since it doesn’t only include OST pieces from the anime but also beautifully arranged pieces like 『Ave Maria』*, its melody is truly breathtaking and it makes me feel like I am being carried away to another world ♪ [*They performed together with Taro Hakase at the Special Live Summer Time Bonanza last year. *What I would give to have Kalafina perform this song with vocals T_T]
WAKANA: I really love 「Slam Dunk」 so I enjoy listening to the anime OP 「Kimi ga Suki da to Sakebitai」 by BAAD-san as well as the ED theme 「Anata dake Mitsumeteru 」 by Ōguro Maki-san. Also, SPEED’s 「Too Young」 and pretty much everything by Spitz-san (I listen to them throughout the year but I particularly enjoy their songs during summer and autumn).
HIKARU: Once it is autumn I like to listen to…「Kohaku no Tsuki」 by DREAMS COME TRUE.

Ancient Magus’ Bride 24 (FINAL) | ReLIFE OVAs 2 - 4 (FINAL) | Mahou Shoujo Ore 1 | Gakuen Babysitters 12 (FINAL) | Zoku Touken Ranbu Hanamaru 12 (FINAL) | Dances with the Dragons 1
The spring season came early on Crunchyroll, but HiDive is locking me out in exchange.
Ancient Magus’ Bride 24 (FINAL)
Aw, c’mon Chise. Beating people up is not how you do things, that’s a shonen protag’s role!
Noticeably, Elias seems to be “the child”.
Who’s the “weirdo”??? Chise? Elias?
The confetti kind of looks like flowers…
Alrightttttttttttttttt…this show just went into lecherous and out of the comfort zone territory when I remembered Chise is 15. Wearing a bridal outfit and exchanging rings. Yipe.
Wait, so what happened to Joseph’s eye? The dragon arm I get, but…
I was wondering what was under those gloves of Elias’s, so now you know. *The More You Know star shoots past*
I’m kinda confused. That ending was sweet but it was abrupt and didn’t solve much. Actually, I think it bred quite a few questions I won’t get answered anywhere but the manga…ergh. Dangit, manga!
ReLIFE OVA 2
Didn’t think I’d see Sumire (the volleyball teacher) again.
Interestingly the kanji combo for human and fish (in that order) is “mermaid” but the other way around is “fishman”…hmm…
I had some yakisoba recently. It has a distinctive flavour to it…dang, now I’m hungry.
It’s the brother again. He’ll be important, alright.
For reference, the ED is CHE.R.RY buy YUI.
Mahou Shoujo Ore 1
Yay! This show is my first debut for the spring season so I couldn’t be happier – I’m actually getting my magical boys (unlike my magical girls, which are likely to be locked away behind HiDive’s paywall)! It’s not about rocks (LOL) but ore in this case refers to the Japanese male pronoun.
Ah, this is so PreCure. It’s like I’ve come home. Welcome home, Saki!
Nice boat!
That “It was all a dream” definitely isn’t in the original, but it does set people’s expectations up, eh? The ol’ bait-and-switch.
Henshin = Transformation. It’s not “Transform” unless it has suru on the end.
The face in the song subs is a good touch.
Honeyed Flash, eh? (LOL)
Glass Galaxy is the ED if you’re not in the know.
Those stretched faces, kinda like Saitama’s…are from the original manga…(I feel sorry for admitting that now.)
Some animation of Saki is definitely 2010s, but it keeps feeling like this show was from 10 years ago from the stripped-back style. It’s quite the whiplash, but it’s not something I was ever bothered over (if you remember Saiyuki Reload Blast, that was a similar dilemma).
“…you’re an old hag once you’re over 15…” – Aside from vaguely calling back YOI’s young ages for retiring (which makes me kind of sad), there are PreCure girls who are over 15 (Cure Moonlight was 17) and the Outer Senshi were all older than 15 with the exception of Sailor Saturn, IIRC.
I think the OKAN on Sayori’s apron is meant to be short for okaasan, although I might be wrong there. (*still imagining what a wonderful world we live in, to be blessed with an adaption of this manga…even with two anime-original characters…*)
Okay…there was one shot there that reiterated why I don’t watch anime in public.
Monokubo, eh? (LOL)
Gakuen Babysitters 12 (FINAL)
Did Kotaro always call Saikawa Sai-chan???
Yikes, Kamitani isn’t that discerning about the age of who he hits after all. I thought it was just Taka-related abuse for most of the episodes…or maybe I’m generalising too much.
Eh, insensitive mu-oh, never mind.
Is the present for Ryuichi a smartphone? It is, isn’t it?
So that’s the end of another series. See you next time!
Zoku Touken Ranbu Hanamaru 12 (FINAL)
According to the rules of the game, you can only have one party in one time period at a time. Therefore, by bending the rules, you make for a more compelling anime…huh. They did it in Katsugeki too, although it was in a slightly different way.
Oh boy, I looked into this and this white-looking outfit is Yasusada’s Kiwame! Ooh, I was looking forward to this in Katsugeki and I finally get it! (I left before Kiwame was a thing, so I finally get to vicariously live out my Kiwame fantasies, LOL.)
If you’ve made it this far in TR, you obviously know how much Yasusada values Okita-kun…I’m so proud of my boy, even if he wasn’t a particularly special sword to me…
It’s wonderful to know that feeling – that I’ve supported TR from before the animes happened because of one measly sword known as Kashuu Kiyomitsu. That I now have friends all over the world with their own favourite swords who I can chat to anytime I want, because Toshiki Masuda got involved with a small franchise that got really big (in Japan). I think that’s a power of Boueibu’s “rookie system”, if I were to give it a name.
…With that, I say “farewell” to 2 seasons of Hanamaru! See you again someday!
ReLIFE OVA 3
Aw, Kariu and Ohga out on a lovers’ holiday…these guys are too adorable.
Arata says “You were made for each other” with such a straight face I can’t even…LOL.
Is it just me, or did they get more inventive with the backgrounds because the OVAs were straight to disc content?
My eyes have gotten so attuned to CGI I can tell the basket is CGI…I think that’s what made me toss (Space Battleship) Tiramisu off my list temporarily, come to think of it.
Arata still smokes? Oh dear…
Ferret Town, LOL.
Give Arata some eye contact, Hishiro! C’mon!
I think it’s kind of obvious, but they picked blue for the boys and pink for the girls in the background.
These picture slideshows are pretty cool (kinda like YoI…?). Less animation to do, as well.
The shop Hishiro looks at provides ramen and tsukemen.
Huh? For some reason, when I look at this “Genus Port” place, I’m reminded of a place which I think is in Los Angeles (or it could be in Las Vegas or Hong Kong, I don’t remember). There’s a bunch of shops around there, a fountain and a painted sky on the roof, plus a fancy yellow brick “building” in the middle somewhere. I think it was vaguely Italian or other European-looking in shop aesthetic, but that’s all I can get from the depths of my brain…
The words “grow up” have a very special meaning here in two different ways.
I’m still wondering, why does the guy always have to fall in love first? If the guy isn’t in love first, the girl sometimes gets laughed at or people just call it a transient crush. It’s quite saddening, to get your feelings crushed like that.
Score one! The song is La La La Love Song by Toshinobu Kubota with Naomi Campbell.
The final episode is called “Life”, which doesn’t match “Seed” or “Need” at all. Nor does it match “Date”. Fair weather charms would be teru teru bouzu.
ReLIFE OVA 4 (FINAL)
Did I see the map of Japan on the wall in the original series??? Or is that a new addition?
Aw, this scene where they just cry for a minute really got to me. Not that I cried, but it really hit me in the feels.
I’ve never heard this phrase before…”pat answer”? Okay…?
I think Onoya just wanted senpai to notice her, LOL.
The revelation that Arata wanted to work for the ReLIFE lab startled even me, and I tackled the series long before a lot of people got in on it!
Yoake-san’s got a moon on his icon. Considering his surname means “daybreak” and one kanji means “night”, it makes complete sense.
I couldn’t read the nameplate, but you can tell from the clothing colours that’s Ohga’s house.
I found this article on hikikomori one time and thought it would be relevant to share here, actually. It’s talking about a company that gets hikikomori to be social again through repeated correspondence…kind of like ReLIFE itself.
As soon as I saw the line “Fate may tear us far apart”, I knew the ED for this episode was “Button”.
Why do I get the feeling there’s still something left for me to see…?
I was so dang close to crying when they remembered each other! Gah! I need to recover, but I have some new episodes on tap as well. So, with that, it’s the end of our time with each other, ReLIFE. Farewell, and until next time.
Dances with the Dragons 1
I think, out of simplicity, I’ll call this show “Saredo” (“Even Still”) instead. As to how I was attracted to this show, it was because not only are there some great voices at the helm, but I think “physics x magic” could really go places as a concept.
Guy with big sword. It reminds me of a lot of shonen anime, like D Gray Man…or even Deltora Quest…
“SareRyuu”? That seems like a strange name, I think “Saredo” suits it better.
The only thing I fixated on in Gigina’s full name was the weird mention of “Ashley” somewhere in it. If anyone were to tease him, that would be a wide opening for them to attack him with.
This is looking like a Grancrest all over again, which spells bad things (LOL) about this show. Despite that, an Aini seems to be the spell Gayus (learnt his name from promo material) was using.
Gayus and Gigina have a great rapport. If they decide to go comedy with this show, it seems that would be very welcome here.
My mind is blown…it’s a sword, but it also provides armour and kind of acts like a gun in how it does that…amazing…
I feel like I’m really back in the driver’s seat, now that I’m getting my first new action anime in 2 seasons! Winter wasn’t bad but it can’t keep an action anime fan down!
Gigina’s a competent dragon slayer, eh? Slay me instead *wink wink, nudge nudge*! (LOL)
So an Altar is a special type of dragon, one that’s so special it has to be in a league of its own. Duly noted.
This show is screaming for a dub, for some reason…that’s my thoughts on it, anyway.
Notably, Kenryu in Japanese could translate to “sword dragon” with the right kanji combo.
Wow, this show is really political. I’ve getting Grancrest vibes all over again…
Uh…I guess I was wrong on the overall quality of humour in this show. The Horton joke was so black, I couldn’t see through it!
Is it possible in this world to arrest a dragon for murder? Or do you just slay it?
“They must be pretty good.”
Gayus is such a Kunikida, LOL. Except he drinks…uh…coffee? Tea? Not sure what his beverage of choice is, actually.
Juku and jushiki…are you trying to make my head spin with all the tongue twisters???
Wow, those green gems even have names like guns!
Well…Gigina isn’t quite Dazai, but I guess every straight man needs someone more frivolous to play off of…
“Falusi” appears to be a Hungarian word for villager (at least, Wiktionary said that when I checked it)…which obviously doesn’t work here. Stupid fantasy words…
The cut between the screaming man and Gayus wasn’t the best…
“Science-oriented”? Y’mean there are ones that are magic-oriented as well? Ooh.
*squints at this dude with black hair* He kinda looks like Ibusuki Ata (Boueibu Happy Kiss).
Someone went all out on the aesthetic for the ED! Wowee…
Even though these fantasy words and names are going to make my head spin and I’m sure this show isn’t for everyone, I’ll be keeping it on for now. You can tell it’s more competent than Mahou Shoujo Ore from the air it holds, but Mahou Shoujo Ore is a lot more fun…so this’ll be a tough decision if I have to cut either of them…
