👤 NEW YORK 🎵 1990'S ⏪ ▶️ ⏩ Come spend a summer in New York. The sun sets a little differently over the Empire State. 

「 Bruno's always been the odd one on his block. He works as a drywaller but has hopes of making a living writing for Broadway. His family is pretty well known around town, but he's always preferred to keep a low profile. Bruno's best friend, Luigi (Super Mario Bros.), runs a plumbing business with his older brother in Brooklyn. They've known each other since they were kids, always being picked last for basketball or bonding over the color green.

Their other best friend is Kuzco (Emperor's New Groove), a rich kid from Upper Manhattan and up-and-coming heir to his family's billion-dollar empire. However, due to his lack of maturity and wild party-boy behavior, Kuzco has been temporarily cut off financially, forcing him to take a job as a Taxi driver.

Despite being cut off, Kuzco still has access to some perks, like the rooftop basketball court of the Sports Club his Dad owns. But Kuzco's not the only one with a hookup.

Audrey Ramirez (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), a chief mechanic engineer, can come and go as she pleases thanks to this being the gym where her Boxing Champion sister trains. She's always with her best friend and roommate, Chel (The Road to El Dorado), who is originally from Colombia and works at The Met.」 For @wdtajn crossover week!

Are you going to do a poll for 3rd/4th place?

this is an inherent structural thing with large single-elimination brackets in general, but the four semifinalists aren't necessarily the four strongest competitors in the bracket. even if you assume bracket performance is both deterministic (not influenced by random factors) and transitive (character A beats character B and character B beats character C implies character A beats character C), any one of the characters beaten by the final champion along the way to the final round theoretically could be the second most-favored character in the bracket.

the polls I did for "characters that the finalists won against" do suggest that the seeding was pretty good in this regard and that the characters that made it further really are more well-liked among the voters of the bracket, but it's not guaranteed that doing well in a free-for-all "pick your favorite out of all of these characters from just their names" is really correlated with how well they'd do head-to-head in a proper poll.

besides, why would I make Daisy and Luigi fight? it's poetic that they got out in the same round, I think

Interesting facts I learnt about Maria Teresa de Fillippis & Lella Lombardi from Motorsports Magazine: Italian Legends

Maria Teresa de Fillippis:

She originally started off racing horses

Her first car was a Fiat 500 which she raced when her brothers bet she couldn't be a fast driver

She won her first ever race in the Fiat

Her father inspired her to succeed in whatever she did and supported her racing, Her mum didn't object either as she was happy that Maria was winning

She never had any sponsors or managers as she came from a wealthy family and made her own decisions, took no orders.

She never raced for Ferrari because she didn't want Enzo Ferrari to try and control her - Maserati respected this

Fangio told her she drove too fast and needed to go slower

Fangio, Ascari & Villoresi were her hero's and they were always very good to her

On track she called Fangio her 'Race Father' because he treated her so well and she admired that

"The relationships within the team were influenced by the older drivers. They were all older than me so they would protect me from anything like that (people trying to romance her at the track) I could look after myself, you know, and when things became too intense or too vulgar then I would joke with them, make fun of them, and they would go away"

She was once courted by Luigi Musso

She was due to race the car at AVUS but gave the car up to Jean Behra who's car it originally was and was without a car. He was killed at that race

After this De Filippis left the sport to focus on having a family and didn't return until 1973 to join the International des Anciens Pilotes de Grand Prix F1 club

She became the club's vice president in 1997 and made honorary president days before celebrating her 85th birthday

Lella Lombardi:

Robin Herd says the Nurburgring was Lella's best driver, not the time when she got half a point

She started off with Monzo-based Formula 875

Her partners name was Fiorenza

She did well in F3 and became Italian's Ford Escort Mexico Challenge Champion the same year, 1973

Jackie Epsteine ran a Formula 5000 team in the winter of 73 and was persuaded to let Lella try, and became impressed with her driving and technical knowledge like when she correctly pitted when realising the car was getting a puncture

She was nicknamed 'Tigress of Turin' though the place name is wrong

She had little trouble getting sponsors. She stayed in Italy and flew to each race and never asked for expenses.

"She was charming but stubborn and independent, and a tremendously careful road driver. I went with her from Snetterton to Norwich once: 30mph all the way. Painful. People were staring and peeping. She didn't care"

"She wasn't interested in fashion and usually wore trousers if she was in civvies. She had an image to keep; "I'm tough so don't mess with me" She was a loner, really. No entourage. She never brought a girlfriend"

Lella would complain that her car was understeering badly in corners but Vittorio who tested the car out said it was fine. Only next year when Ronnie Peterson described the same handling with the car did they realise Lella had been correct

But she wanted me to be just as fast and was always giving me tips and help. She was passionate about racing. She was no interested in music, reading, culture or anything else. "When asked in a press conference how she was coping with such a hefty car, she replied, "I don't have to carry it, I just have to drive it"

Lella felt she could have been rich and famous in America but her love for Italy made her stay there

She knew foreign people appreciated her but she wanted to be know in Italy

Lella knew of her breath cancer by 1985. She had hit her breast on a sailing trip and it hurt her a lot.

With her partner Fiorenza she was trying to create a team and find others to help her including Giusy Remondi

She used to sleep in her truck to save money for racing

"She and Fiorenza were a beautiful couple, reserved; the spotlight was never on them"

"Lella only complained about the inequality in Formula 1 - because nobody had listened to her about the changes for the car"

"On her deathbed she asked us to continue the team to preserve what she had achieved. We miss her passion, determination and modesty"

Lombardi checked into Milan's san Camillo Clinic in February 1992 and died on March 3rd, days short of her 51st Birthday

Okay more deets on my bowuigi pokemon AU.

In the fictional game that all this is taking place around, Mario Luigi aren't protagonists. Mario was a champion in his teens and Luigi came damn close, but if the player ever encountered them it would be as Plumber M and Plumber L. Just random NPCs that are slightly more of a challenge than usual (they went easy on you, you're just a kid after all).

I think Bowser's issue as one of the villains is that his gym is considered a "starter" gym. After all, fire types have such an obvious and common weakness! And if he tries to vary his team or use items, he's the bad sport since the challengers are "just kids."

Him and Mario had a rivalry when they were kids, and even back then Bowser was told off for not going easy on someone younger, even though they were only a couple years apart and Mario didn't need anyone to go easy on him. Nowadays they don't have any reason to see each other, if it wasn't for Bowser being weirdly invested in becoming Luigi's friend for some reason...

There's some weirdness going on with Luigi that I want to get into, but the short version is that ghosts are drawn to him. All of his pokemon found him rather than the other way around. He has no idea that their presence is protecting him from other ghosts with far worse intentions.

That's how Luigi and Bowser met (they knew each other vaguely from their childhood but hadn't spoken more than a couple words even back then). Luigi suddenly came to and realized he was in an old abandoned building. He knew he sleepwalked occasionally but he'd never gone this far before! (His pokemon usually stop him before he gets out the door.) Before he could start panicking though, Bowser found him and asked what the hell he was doing there, and Luigi was so obviously confused and lost that Bowser just helped him get back home instead of interrogating him. Seeing a bunch of dangerous ghost types who clearly adored Luigi as their trainer made Bowser curious and they started getting to know each other from there.

Luigi never remembers to ask why Bowser was in the old abandoned building. (It's one of his villain team secret meeting spots.)

Here I come with a new one! Thanks to all the shitposts that give me life and inspiration to write this! I think this might be the last one I write of this series for now, because I’m literally out of ideas lol. But it has been really really fun. I really enjoyed it. But don’t worry, I’ll keep posting if I get more ideas.

After so many tiring weeks working your ass off for the minimum wage, you finally got a very well deserved vacation. Which you were totally planning to spend with your friends and your little pal.

He was such a grumpy pants, he cussed you whenever you came close, but deep down inside his little black heart you knew he craved the attention. If only he didn’t try to bite your fingers with his hampter teef.

So, you, Peach, Mario, Luigi and Toad set off on a journey to the Kong Kingdom, a tropical paradise, for a week of unashamedly lazing off. Since nobody trusted Bowser to be left on his own without causing a ruckus (throwing the piano over and over again against the bars of the cage), you so kindly offered to bring him along in a pet carrier. Oh he was big mad now.

Didn’t help that you kept feeding him apple slices through the bars saying “does the Big Boy want his appy slices?” and it certainly didn’t help either that the Big Boy really wanted his appy slices. To make up for the embarrasment, maybe you’d let him take a sip of your Caipiranha plant cocktail.

The Kong Kingdom was something you wouldn’t have even imagined in a thousand years, and you came from the Mushroom Kingdom. Throw tropical paradise, with Aztec aesthetic and Nash Car in a blender, mix it, and that’s what you get.

One of the Kongs kindly took you all to your huts and very wisely ignored all the Traffic regulations and laws of safe driving, which moved you so much, you spent the entire journey with tears in your eyes and your mouth open in a never ending scream of pure terror.  Yeah, next time you were walking.

One of the most peculiar traditions of the Kongs that you experienced there was some kind of tournament in a stage that was literally floating on air. You had to say it was a bit awkward when the kinda handsome? and cocky prince of the Kongs invited you all over to ‘smash’. Oh well, it would be way too difficult and weird to explain it to them anyways, and quoting Mario, ‘that was a pipe that wasn’t worth exploring’.

The tournament was like watching a real gladiator battle, but the gladiators had superpowers, and they were monkeys. Of course DK won, since, until Mario, he was the undefeated champion. He was a show off, you were truly impressed and cheering for him. He sent a flirtatious wink your way. And a loud thump was heard from inside the carrier. Awww, potato man didn’t want anybody else catching your attention. That was so sweet of him, actually.

The truth was, that despite this being a bit of a holiday, the real reason you all were there was because the turtle had to answer for his crimes against the Kong Kingdom. Godzilla v. Kong. It was jury duty for your friends, yaaayy.

Apparently Bowser didn’t get the memo. He was absolutely angery, screaming, raging, fighting. There was no way to handle him. To try an coerce him out of the carrier and into a proper cage was a task no Kong was patient enough to endure.

Would have it been easier to handle if he had remained in his temporary enclosure? Yeah, it would, but Kongs were monkeys with deeply rooted traditions, and if the teeny mutant ninja toitle had to be in a cage on the witness stand, then he would be in it, conscious or not. Looks like they had very little regard for the rules of the courtroom, but he had tried to kill them, so they were even.

Nobody took into account the possibility that he would manage to break free and make a run for the entrance. Tbh, it was kinda sad to watch him give the effort of his life trying to get to a door that was like ten feet away from where you all were. Still, no Kong was able to lay a hand on him, given how slow he was and how eager he seemed in getting hit, it was as if they were avoiding him on purpose. Peach would later explain you that given the nature of the power up, if he got hit in any way the mushroom would loose its effect and would turn him back to his original size, which was a big nope.

While the jury was debating wheter let him enjoy what little freedom he would have before he was tricked back into the pet carrier or just pick him and finish it, you had a moment of enlightment. That was it, the moment you had been waiting for for the last months, what you had unconsciously been training for your entire life. This was your moment to shine, your moment to be the hero, your moment to-

“Look at you so tiny and cute!” You gushed, picking him up, mindful of the spikes in his shell. He wiggled, trying to be set free and demanding you to put him down that instant or throw him as hard as you could against the wall. But the only thing you wanted to do was...

* smooch * You kissed the tip of his nose. You had been wanting to boop it since day one, and its scales were as soft as you had imagined. Your life dream had been achieved.

Bowser went very still in your hold. His eyes were wide and his pupils had shrunk with shock. The Kongs looked horrified at you so casually holding a narcissistic and psychotic tyrant like a pet, Peach was awkardly smiling at the eldest Kong, Cranky, while Mario and DK were trying as hard as they could to not burst out laughing. Luigi quietly snapped a pic and quickly hid the phone in his overalls, when the guards shot him dirty looks.

It were a couple of uncomfortable minutes that felt like years for all of you, until someone decided to clear their throat, snapping all out of their stupor. Bowser was still frozen so putting him inside the cage was easy. And so, the trial went on without any more disturbances. Whetever the sentence was, he didn’t hear it, nor did he care. Because his mind was occupied by something else. The kiss.

BONUS SCENE

You didn’t know how it had all started but suddenly there was a loud explosion and the entire castle was on flames. Tumbling, you made your way through a bunch of screaming toads towards the source of the blast. Because you perfectly knew where it had started.

The thick smoke made your eyes watery and you blinked several times, trying to clear your vision through the tears. You coughed several times, your lungs ached and you felt like you were going to pass out at any given moment. But you had to keep going fowards, make sure everyone got out safe. And by everyone you meant every single one of the creatures inhabiting this castle.

Finally, you reached the giantic doors. Exhausted, you tripped and desperately clinged onto the golden knobs, burnng your palms in the process due to the overheated metal. Thankfully, your weight was enough to pull the doorknob and push the door open.

You fell against the cracked marble floor, the only things in front of you were the dark columns of smoke that clouded your vision and the burning roar of the flames in your ears. Until, you saw it.

A gigantic dark shadow with glowing red eyes pulled out from the darkest of nightmarish Hells. The eyes burned with a flaming passion and seemed to be piercing your soul. For the first time in a long time, you felt true fear running through your veins. Still, you were too stunned to move.

A low rumble came out of that disturbing sight. It started to approach you, with every step it took the ground shook, and the less time you had to make a run for it. A shiver ran down your spine at the thought that were you brave enough to run, this monster would catch you in a matter of seconds despite its size.

A sob got caught in your throat when the smoke cleared and you got to see the owner of those eyes.

Your little fella. Your beloved tiny musical tot that played piano. Literally everyone’s warnings against him suddenly came to mind. He was not so little now.

Bowser extended one hulking arm, and with one of his meaty fingers, he dragged a claw through your collarbone without breaking the skin, like some twisted version of a caress. He let out a low purr, certainly deepest than it had sounded merely days ago. “Look at you...So tiny and cute...”

Okay this is probably common knowledge but I JUST realised that in Super Paper Mario Tippi and Luigi are parallels.

SPM SPOILERS BTW (in case someone reads this or sees the art by accident)

Like it didn't hit me before and now it came at me like a truck that:

- Both begin the two main plots. (Tippi causes Blumieres tragedy to begin when she finds and helps him, Luigi is the one heavily suggesting to leave the house to do something and causes Mario's journey to begin)

- Both at one point work for the side that their close ones are actively fighting against.

- Both suffer a temporary memory loss and are separated from their loved ones, dissapearing without a trace.

- When they DO get reunited they're physically changed enough for their friends to not be able to tell it's them (so close yet so far).

- Both ultimately play a role that is capable of changing the tide of everyone's lives (Tippi being a necessary component to save all worlds, Luigi being a necessary component in destroying everything).

- Both are loved by an individual who is forced to watch them suffer. (Bleck seeing Tippi react to his doings and ultimately having to give up her life, Mario seeing Luigi be used as a tool to wreck mayhem, both as Mr.L and as the Chaos Hearts vessel).

Going by this pattern there's also the fact that the one who fought for good dies and the one who fought for evil (unwillingly but still) lives.

This entire game has this underlying tone of balance, a soft hint of it at least. Where there's good there's evil, in this case quickly referring back to the memory loss; Tippi starts off cold and seemingly a bit rude, changing with time into a kind soul she once was. As for Luigi he starts off kind and develops into a mean, unempathetic person, at one point even coming across as shallow (at least to me, I'm talking about the dialogue exchanged in the destroyed Sammers Kingdom, the way he replies gives off massive 'I don't care anymore' vibes).

Both cases show the nicest people being changed, being forced to change. They loose what made them loved in the first place to benefit another party regardless of their beliefs.

God this game makes me think, it's damn emotional when you look deeper.

I was listening to 'Champion of destruction' by TheManOnTheInternet while walking in circles in the school hall when this whole thing clicked... Bruh.

Ash somehow getting Lugia and Tapu Koko to be civil, maybe even to the point where they start to notice the good in each other again and remeber why they fell in love in the first place, and with that Lugia is seen around Melemele noticeably more.

Particularly the many beaches.

It starts with the class coming down to the Professors shack to collect Ash and his team for a day of adventure. Only to see Lugia beached upon the sands. Wings stretched out wide and his lower half being gently lapped by the slow incoming tides.

Naturally, the kids think there’s a dead legendary outside the professor’s shack and they don’t know.

Lana jokingly said it was Pikachu’s spoils of a good ‘hunt’. The other kids don’t take her joke seriously or kindly.

both Ash and Kukui come out to the kids screeching because Tapu Koko appeared out of nowhere and he looks mad. Moving to hover more between the class and Lugia until Ash and Kukui come running out.

Ash immediately relaxes once he sees the scene in front of him. Waving off the Orange Isles legendary saying stuff like “Lugia’s probably tired from swimming/flying all the way here.” And “he’s not hurt, just tanning.”

All the while the other kids and Kukui are looking at Ash like he’s insane, so a normal Saturday morning, and conveniently forgot or don’t know that he’s the orange isles champion. Who obviously goes back to the islands whenever he returns home to see Luigi and the birds. Which means Ash has seen Lugia bury himself in the sand while one or two of the other birds are nearby squawking in fury.

They hate sand in their feathers.

Everyone calms down and look back to Lugia. Who’s know watching the group with mild disinterest with Tapu Koko hovering a few feet above their head. Looking like puffed up angry golden Decidueye.

Collectively, they all agree to leave the two alone. No one getting to see the short gruff and coo of thanks Lugia gives the guardian before turning their head more into a shaded spot and going back to bed.

The next person to see Lugia is an early morning tourist. The sun isn’t quite breaking the horizon line and it’s a jogger out for a stroll.

The first thing she see’s coming up on the sidewalk that over looks the Hau’oli City beachfront is a large beached form in the sand. It takes moment for the woman tk recognize the being as Lugia.

Instead of being all stretched out and nuzzling into the sand, Lugia is curled up in a ball. Head tucked under a wing and soundly snoring away. The tourist is honestly surprised she didn’t notice the sound earlier. As her window to her hotel was open and Lugia’s snores are a little loud.

She’s honestly surprised no one else is out just yet either. Alola natives are known to be up from dawn to dusk. Though it doesn’t take long for everyone else to be out and about.

Within the hour there’s a crowd filling the sidewalk and the police have made their presence known. Ushering people aside so they can get down onto the beach that no one else has stepped onto yet.

Tapu Koko comes screeching from the trees. Down right pissed and territorial, but instead of lunging at Lugia the Guardian places himself between the legendary and the police. Facing the police with little shocks of electricity coming off of the Tapu.

Lugia quickly wakes with the noise, still sleepy and slow-ish from a good night rest. Reaching his snout out to gently prod the little guardian. Grumbling and cooing while stretching out his body.

Tau Koko’s attitude shifted drastically. body relaxing as he turns to the other and coo's back in answer. only briefly glancing back at the crowd before awkwardly motions Lugia to move.

to the people, it was clear that the sound Lugia made after Taou Koko's gesture was a laugh. though the legendary did indeed properly get and up slipped into the now midmorning tide.

though Tapu koko clearly took the laugh in good gesture from Lugia. hearing it from his own people sparked a nerve with the guardian. the single strike of lightning that smashed into the ground nearby scared both the group of civilians and the police force. giving the Tapu the cover to leave.

a couple weeks later and there's a video flying around the internet. it's a short clip and a lot of people are calling it fake.

Lugia coo's a sweet melody and opens a wing, beckoning the Tapu to come lay down. Koko obliges without much thought and is protected by the mist and any potential stronger waves. clearly snuggling up in the video before the person accidently snaps on a twig and both the legendaries attention snaps over to them.

Firstly Peonia

Peonia, the elder daughter of Mario and Peach, is a strong-willed and independent young lady who is passionate about racing and competes in roller shaking competitions. Despite her sweet demeanor, she can be quite sassy and stubborn, especially when it comes to protecting her cousin and brother. Despite her love for girly things and her admiration of vintage fashion and makeup, Peonia is also an adrenaline junkie and loves high-risk taking. She is a champion roller shaker and often hangs out with a group of friends at her school, some of whom are gyaru girls.Peonia's physique takes after her mother's side of the family, giving her a thicker body structure, and she was bullied for her Italian accent as a child. Despite this, she has embraced her curly hair as well as the tooth gap that she is self-conscious about. She is a fan of horror shows and movies, especially those that involve horror romance and found family storylines. Peonia's favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake, and she enjoys watching magical girl shows in her spare time. She loves to playfully embarrass her siblings, especially her baby brother, and is fiercely protective of them.

Secondly Molise

Molise, the baby brother of Mario and Peach, is a child.At times, he can be a bit of a brat and wants to take control of situations, leading to him being quite bossy. However, he means well and is genuinely naive and smart even despite his young age. Despite his occasional bratty behavior, he has a kind heart and cares deeply for his family and friends.Molise shares some of his mother's traits, such as his pointy ears, and blonde hair. He's a bit of a neat freak and prefers to wear protective gear whenever he plays outside, so his clothes remain clean and dry. He has a blunt and honest personality. Also prone to being quite clingy and a bit spoiled at times. He also likes to keep himself entertained by watching cartoons and cheesy TV shows from the 90s and early 2000s, and playing card games. However, he's not a fan of horror movies, and in fact, he hates being scared or feeling spooked in any way.He is quite picky and tends to stick to the foods he likes. His favorite snacks include cookies, and he loves sharing Cassata ice-cream cake with his family. He's also not a fan of fart jokes or gross humor, finding them to be immature and childish.

Thirdly Lusia

Lusia, the only child of Daisy and Luigi, is an avid sports enthusiast and lover of literature. She shares some of her mother's fiery determination but is also known for her nervous nature, something she inherits from her father. Despite being a bit self-conscious about her appearance at times, Lusia finds solace in the fact that she has a sassy cousin in Peonia who helps boost her self-esteem.Lusia is particularly passionate about baseball and archery, two activities that she enjoys thoroughly. Though she loves sports and reading, she can sometimes overwork herself and is guilty of comparing herself to others, especially with respect to her body type. Lusia is a lean and athletic woman, stands 5’8ft tall and wears braces thanks to a childhood habit of eating metal. She has sharp fangs, and also has freckles with light black spots due to acne. Her favorite outfits are sporty ones and hates wearing dull and boring clothes but on weekends she prefers comfort and rides her skateboard while sipping her ice slushie. Lusia strives to live a comfortable and relaxing life, but sometimes she just can't control the urge to be active and adventurous.
