god i can’t stop thinking about how the (core) death family really is such a well fitting puzzle that when even one piece js gone it shows and affects the rest :(

like the death family is incomplete without qmissa, he carries such a huge role in the emotional wellbeing of things, he shines were qphil lacks; the death family is incomplete without qphil, the man consistently keeping the kids alive and fed, he can keep the kids alive but he struggles with the things beyond it, things beyond mere survival; and the kids, we saw how thoroughly their absence affected qphil and qmissa, how tallulah sleeping alone at her old home made the bunker feel so empty and incomplete, how without chayanne this little family would’ve never been formed in the first place. they all fulfill roles that no one else can perform in their place, tallulah and qmissa carry the artistic side and emotional knowledge of the family, qphil and chayanne carry the survivalist aspect of the family with experience and cooking. the family has had to adapt to the absence of members in the past, especially when the kids disappeared, and the toll it takes shows so clearly every time. they are only truly complete with each other, they are a family with so many troubles and ailments that could so easily be fixed by just them all being present, and yet they’re cursed to always miss one. they are always stuck adapting and filling roles to make up for an absence, and crumbling under the pressure each time

Got a family heirloom chai charm from my parents a few weeks ago, which I finally put on a chain and am wearing for the first time tonight for Shabbat. It's huge, you can basically see it from space. And it's gorgeous.

Anyway. Jewish time isn't linear, it's continuous. My Hebrew name is from my great-grandfather's Hebrew name. He left Berlin in 1933 with his family so we could live freely as Jews.

And I'm now wearing his family's chai. Od avinu chai, the ancestors still live.

As much as Chai is loving this ambassador gig, it's still nice to have a day off. It turns out that representing a major project line from a huge international company is a lot of work! And sometimes, a guy just needs to kick back and spend the entire afternoon playing arcade games.

And, look, he hasn't had the chance to do that in a while, okay? That's his excuse, at least, for why he's so absorbed in clearing another level that he doesn't notice anything around him, including 808's paw urgently patting at his leg, until the cat finally loses patience and rolls into ball mode, zooming up to hover in front of his nose.

"Hey!" Chai says, shoving at her with one hand. "808! What the...?!" He tilts his head to try to see past her, but she bobs sideways, blocking his view again.

In-game, mobbed by enemies, Chai's avatar expires in a burst of light. Chai groans and slaps his hands down on the controls in exasperation. "Aww, come on! I had a good run going! What gives?"

808 uncurls in midair and lands nimbly on the control board. All four feet braced wide, she lifts her chin and glares at Chai, with frustration written all over her cute little face, and stamps one paw emphatically.

"Whoa!" Chai flinches back, startled. Satisfied that she has his full attention, 808 leaps down and scampers away, down the steps and past Mac's punching bag, toward the workbench that he and Peppermint share. Chai follows her, puzzled...

So, next installment of Magic, Reflections, and Parallels has a very Emotional Influence Theme. Which derives from one's natural inclination to not be affected by negative energy. A, uh, Psychological Strength kind of thing, meaning a...barrier, or maybe...filter? to not be influenced by negative emotional energies because of being highly logical...

Anyway, someone who has abnormal high Psychological Strength isn't as easily influenced...So, I made a list and I need everyone's opinions that it makes sense.

Psychological Strengths [High to Low]: 1. Pete 2. Vegas 3. Macau 4. Kim 5. Kinn 6. Chay 7. Porsche 8. Khun

Why is Chay higher than Porsche? Because if Porsche got betrayed by Kinn again...I think there might be a fairly more impactful reaction. [There's a lot more to this...but I don't want to reveal too much.]
