Tumblr media
"We can do it here! My brothers both have dates tonight and my parents are going to some....tupperware party? At Agnes's? I don't know. It's a weird retro-y type thing." Or at least she hoped it was and not like some code for a swinger type thing cause...traumatizing.
"Point is, I have the house to myself. So yeah....let's throw a party."

AND — [ jacket ] sender takes their jacket off and hangs it on receiver's shoulders WITH viv and bucky because i need to see the tender side of bucky hehe 🤭🤭🤭🤭 THANK U POET !!!!!!!
jacket.
u ask for soft Bucky I give you soft Bucky . another post-bremen thing because for some reason if I write June and willie coping then I've gotta write Viv too. Anita (Rivera) is another character of who gets name dropped here — another pilot, woohoo! As is Ellie Harris. That in mind: soft tender Viv/Bucky feelings will be the end of me personally.
If there was one thing that’s been nailed into their heads, one thing Bucky learned the hard way, was that it rained in England. A lot. It came down hard and heavy and seemed to never end once it started. Tonight is no different: it’s raining cats and dogs and forcing everyone to stay in the Officer’s Club longer than they already do. No one wants to make the trek back to their huts and get soaked in the process, their shoes and socks filling with mud. So they order another round and take their time on sipping those drinks until the ice melts and dilutes the whiskey.
Bucky doesn’t hate nights like this, shitty weather aside, but for the first time in a while he eyes the door frequently, silently willing for her to show up. Or rather, to come back.
It wasn’t like Viv to be the first one out — more often the last one, rounding the stragglers of her crew up like a shepherd, giving him a playful promise to come by his hut and tuck him and Curt in. But instead, she exchanged quiet conversation with Willie, her co-pilot clapped her on the shoulder in a silent see you later, and then Viv bid them all goodnight with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. No jokes, no fanfare, no shepherding.
It is one of the only things that Bucky realizes he can’t quite shake with drinking and dancing — the rain started coming down a little after she left and his first thought was the unshakeable worry about her getting caught in it; slipping in the mud and hurting herself, or getting soaked through her clothes and getting sick.
It is this unshakeable worry of his that has him slipping out early — polishing off his drink to save face with an excuse about seeing if he could pull Buck from his cot tonight to join them. It’s not much, but it buys him what he hopes is enough time to poke his head in, make sure Viv is still up and kicking and possibly get a real smile out of her. Part of him wholly wanted to believe she was as unbreakable as the war goddess emblazoned on her old PT shirt, but Bucky wasn’t counting on that fact.
He’s never been more thankful for the hard leather of his sheepskin and how the rain slides off it, but he still wastes no time in jumping into his jeep and making his way down the road. It wasn’t coming down hard enough yet to completely obscure his vision; Bucky keeps glancing to the side in case he catches that tall silhouette of hers making its way back to the huts on the side of the gravel road.
But he doesn’t and Bucky’s slightly imbued with the small hope that she’s beat out the rain, that she could walk just as fast as she flew.
It doesn’t do much to shake the feeling though. His jacket might’ve been doing a good job keeping the rain out, but concern is already embedding itself deep in his bones like a chill he can’t shake, urging him to press on the gas in spite of the wheel’s trembling protests. He just curls his fists tighter until he rounds the corner — and then it’s a straight shot to her quarters from there.
Warm light pours from the two windows sandwiching the door to the hut, and Bucky doesn’t realize he’s hesitating until a fat droplet plinks onto his nose and he’s yet to knock on the door.
Lines were drawn pretty quick once the women joined them, this being one of them. Anita laid them out for him pretty plainly when he dared to ask: you don’t go with a guy to check out the inside of his fort, they have to wait outside the Hut, don’t bring any of them into our forts — they’d figured out all the ways the rules about fraternization could bite them in the ass and then filled in the holes before they even learned anybody’s names. Bucky, for all the trouble he liked to find himself in, was not in the business of dragging Viv or any of her girls into it.
But he can’t help it — the way his jaw clenches and his fists furl in undeniable frustration.
Fraternization be damned, is she not one of his to look out for?! They were a group, a team. He couldn’t shake that feeling of distance between himself and his guys after they’d gone up and he wasn’t there — and little else mattered to him than closing it before it got too wide. He’d be an idiot to act like there couldn’t be a gap there between himself and the girls too, now that they’ve been up. He’d never really asked her how she was holding up, did he?
Internalized guilt aside: she’d do the same for him; that much, Bucky is sure of.
So he opens the door quickly, stepping inside all at once and not letting the door slam behind him, because if he’s going to invade their space he might as well try to have some manners about the whole thing. Nothing could really prepare him for the sight before him, though.
One footlocker she uses as a desk, the other she uses as a chair. Her hair’s all saturated from the rain, stringy and sticking to the sides of her face. Her uniform’s a wet, crumpled pile on the floor. And he really doesn’t know what he was expecting, coming in unannounced, but it wasn’t pale yellow pajama shorts, Viv’s lips pulled into a concentrated pout, and her cheeks and nose pinkened from frigid summer rain. There’s something tentative about the whole thing, vulnerable.
The Vivian he knows is teasing and sharp-tongued; all smiles and quick remarks and quicker actions. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re the only two people in here, or maybe it’s the fact that he’s not used to her quiet; but he suddenly feels like he’s intruding in a way that he hasn’t really felt with anybody else. He whips his head to the side and starts sweeping droplets off the hard leather of his jacket, but he can see her lifting her head to look at him.
Unfortunately, it’s Viv, who is his friend, so he kind of has to look at her when she speaks — lest he make this all about him and his newfound sensibilities when it comes to women in their pajamas, apparently.
“Hey, you,” she tilts her head to the side, curious. “Didn’t know I was getting visitors.”
“Wanted to see if you beat out the rain,” he starts walking towards her and she tilts her head up to look at him, the flickering overhead lighting up her pretty features. Viv smiles, before letting it fall and giving him a half-hearted shrug.
“It caught me,” she admits dismissively, as if he couldn’t see it already. “Guess I should’ve invested in one of these, then. You got extra lying around?” She reaches up to pat his arm.
“You tryna match with me, Savorre?”
“Well if you’re gonna be my ball and chain we might as well,” She counters, swivelling on her makeshift chair and turning her back to him. “Was that it, though?”
To his credit, Bucky doesn’t mean to be nosey — Viv’s just got tragically neat handwriting and it’s something to look at that isn’t wet hair clinging to a lithe neck. But he pauses all the same, his brows knitting together, and the reason for her early absence hitting him all at once.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Harris, you may not remember me… starts off what looks to be a letter. And Bucky remembers the name like he remembers the burn of alcohol in his throat and that feeling of elation he got three days ago when Harding decided to graciously bump him back down from Air Exec.
Ellie Harris was a part of the only female crew that went down — no chutes. He met her, just like he met Viv and Anita: out on the runway in Utah, all chapped faces and pigtails, suspicious eyes. Nice girl, honey-haired and quieter than the other two. He didn’t know her as well as he knew Viv, or even Anita, but he knew her. He poured one out for her crew, too — Adams, Schmalenbach, Petrich, Harris, and all their brave men.
“Bucky? Did you need something?” Viv asks again, turning to look at him. Likely reading the expression on his face, she looks back at the letter, and then to him. She takes her lip between her teeth once his eyes resettle on her. “I know that this is… Kidd’s job or yours, technically, but I just figured…”
There’s a heavy silence that hangs in the air, a brief moment of guilt shared between them. Him, for not thinking of asking about Ellie when he realized she’d gone down — and Viv for probably something small. Like writing her family a letter. He doesn’t want to share this feeling with her but on all levels but physical: he’s effectively scrambling for a means to rid her of it. He comes up empty-handed.
“Her folks sent me and ‘Nita Christmas cards. I figured I owed it to them to at least give some personal condolences.” Her words feel like rain pelting against his skin, the way she avoids his stare turning it frigid. But it’s that imperceptible, barely there shiver of hers that nearly does him in. If he could take the pen and write the whole thing himself, he would, but she’d never let him do that and it’d defeat the purpose of writing at all.
Her back turns to him and he watches a droplet fall from the ends of her hair and run down her back, turning that flimsy yellow material translucent. His jaw clenches involuntarily. He’s shrugging his jacket off without a second thought.
She’d do the same, he rationalizes, if it were me, she’d do the same.
Viv almost seems to freeze entirely as he puts the sheepskin over her shoulders, thankful that the inside was still dry, that the worst of the rain was yet to come. It’s warm, he knows it is because now he’s realizing just how damn cold this hut is right now. Granted, it probably wouldn’t be so awful if his hair wasn’t wet.
She hardly even needs to turn her head much — Bucky hasn’t exactly straightened himself out yet, still slightly hunched over, fixing the collar to keep it out of her way. He’s close enough now to notice some gold in the brown of her eyes. She wants some type of explanation, a what’s all this for likely posed on her tongue and he knows that ‘just felt right’ is a piss-poor excuse.
“You were shakin’ like a leaf over here. Can’t have my wife catching a flu, not on my watch.”
“Uh huh. Right.” Viv retorts sarcastically, and Bucky can’t help the smile on his face as she rolls her eyes at him. Even as he stands up straight again, he doesn’t back away much.
Her fingers ghost over the collar of his jacket, doing little more than softly exhaling — Bucky can’t help it, he lingers in her space and she smiles up at him. Something full and appreciative of what he’s done — she’s given him that look a couple times now and everytime she does, Bucky can’t help but feel like he’s won something. She doesn’t even put her arms through the sleeves, content to let it hang off her shoulders. He likes the way it envelopes her all the same, at least two sizes too big.
There’s a thought that his smell might cling to her skin, and something about that makes him grin a little more.
“You know you’re gonna need this back, right?”
“Jesus, Viv, can you just let me do my marital duty?” He complains, melodramatically, and she laughs, a full sound as her fingers curl over his jacket to keep it on her shoulders.
“That’s not…” Her voice trails off, then she rolls her eyes and Bucky really can’t help how his smile grows at the sight of her. “Fine. Sure. Do your duty. You gonna tuck me in, too? Read me a bedtime story?”
“Depends. You like Guys and Dolls?” He retorts as he takes a seat at the edge of her cot. Viv reaches over to swat at him and he can’t help the chuckle that escapes.
“Don’t make me kick you out of here, Egan,” she threatens half-heartedly, before turning back to her letter. Ten minutes. He’ll let himself linger for ten minutes and let her keep the jacket just for tonight. It suits her better anyways. He can’t help his staring and he knows she feels it because she’s glancing at him from the corner of her eye and chuckling to herself. “What?” He has no excuse this time, so he shrugs and she laughs and mutters something about him being ridiculous.
The sound and the sight of her make him hope that these ten minutes go by slow.

How would the RO’s react if the Mc asked them to cat-sit for them while they were out of town for a few days…totally not tracking down say Avery no way no how.
j park: a bit nervous. salem already doesn’t seem all that interested in them, plus they haven’t missed all the stink eye she throws at them when they’re swooning over the MC (chill J, they are literally just wiping the bloody floor 💀). she will meow at them at ungodly hours until J fills up the food bowl again. then act like she hurt herself to give them another heart attack.
they’ll definitely try to bribe salem with treats to no avail, she’ll just turn up her nose and walk away. J better sleep with one eye open too cause miss salem’s gonna purposely miss to poop in her litter box just to annoy them.
t kaufmann: nope. not a chance. salem is up and out the door before the detective can even settle in. they’ll search the entire backyard and end up finding her on the roof. then after they manage to get a ladder to bring her down, she’ll jump on their head and land gracefully on the floor, strutting away into the house. T is gagged and gooped, needless to say.
salem will haughtily meow at how the detective is gonna ‘psspss’ at them, giving them a look equivalent of “are you serious?”. she will warm up to them just for the night because they’re an excellent body warmer but it’s back to their shenanigans when it’s morning.
vivienne malhotra: she has cat-sit salem before so she has no problem doing it. viv thinks she’s an absolute sweetheart and spoils her rotten by playing with her, giving her treats and giving in to her demands for scratches. salem thinks viv is an excellent scratching pole too, always rubbing against her legs, arms, chin, wherever she can find purchase.
she is a proper lady when viv is around and will gladly bask in all the praises she gets showered in. even MC would have a hard time believing how much salem likes someone who isn’t them, honestly. you’ll find her snuggling and taking a nap at viv’s lap most of the time.
sebastián navarro: has literally zero experience with cats and is an awkward mess around salem. honestly, she just finds him amusing and would do random shit like jumping around and scratching on his jeans to make him panic. she’d eventually let him pet her, although in a way that screams that it’s a privilege that not everyone will have.
salem is an attention-hogger and would meow like crazy until he picks her up. sebas will have the shock of his life when she brings him a dead bird as a gift and he’d probably think she’s planning on murdering him in his sleep (pls come home MC, this is a cry for help)

this is the kind of stuff this blog was really made for so i figured id post it! a bit of an evolution chart for viv, tulsi, and leto— first row is their original versions, second from my scrapped webcomic concept, third row are the ones we know and love now! (i want to do full bodies of this eventually, so i’m gonna keep reblogs off)
[full id: a screenshot of sketched busts depicting three characters in three different rows, each row the three of them look slightly different. the characters are colored in red, blue, and green lineart respectively
row 1: first is a tiefling woman with curly hair with an undercut and face tattoo wearing a work shirt and suspenders. second is an elven person with a jacket and choppy hair pulled in a ponytail. third is a younger elf with long hair covering their right eye and a large cloak. first two are smiling, third has a slight scowl.
row 2: first woman is now human with coily hair pulled up in a bun. second person’s hair is now neater and longer, they have a scar on their left cheek. third’s hair is curlier. first two have more neutral expressions, third looks very upset.
row 3: first woman has similar appearance to the second row but is a tiefling again with glasses. second person’s hair is cut short, they’re dressed in armor and have multiple scars. third’s hair is cut above their shoulders and less curly. first looks concerned, second looks serious, third is neutral with a slight smile.
each character in the first and third rows are labeled with campaign names, and the entire second row is labeled “eventide”. end id]

Man, this image kinda bugs me :/
Tumblr media
Here's what I mean by that:
Why are some demon's identities only confirmed now?
Why is Ch*z in it??? He only appeared in ONE EPISODE and his sign is hella offensive towards the pan community.
Why isn't Millie dressed up in the bi flag too??? She IS Bi and that's canon!
Why is Stolass in it? 💀 Most people in the community hate rich jackasses! (Same goes to the other two owl twinks)
Why is Loona bi? She never- oh yeah, that one scene with Beelzebub...
Sallie May is the only "major" trans* character in this image.
There are so many pan people but no genderqueer people?!
Barbie Wire isn't wearing the lesbian flag and I consider that a hate crime. /hj
WHY IS MY MAN MAMMON ACE??? HE SHOULD BE PAN JUST LIKE THE OTHER DEADLY SINS! 😭 (Edit: I don't really mind that he's ace, but I know why Viv probably made him ace and not something else.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(He could've been pan & ace for example. I hate that Viv makes people like Mammon & Alastor ace, because she thinks ace people are either boring since she can't sexualize them or thinks they're all evil.)

Reminder that ch*footsteps is responsible for the Hazbin Hotel leaks. Not only has he tried to doxx Viv's siblings over Blitzker, he illegally tried to release fake footage of Hazbin Hotel season 2 without any permission from Vivizepop or SpindleHorse. Again, over a fictional ship between fictional characters. He became a hate-watcher and has been bashing Viv ever since Western Energy came out and got pissed that his fantasies of Striker "saving" Blitzø from his made up, fanon version of Stolas didn't become true. He has written several fanfics involving NTR and beastiality. The worst part is that he has many followers who support him and try to justify his actions. He started a whole cult and committed actual felonies over a damn ship. This man is a criminal and if posts on Twitter saying he's been thrown in jail because of the Hazbin leaks are telling the truth, god fucking bless because Ch*i is finally getting exactly what he deserves.

sweet calamity | ch 3
Wednesday Addams x Reader
Series Summary: It was something people described as the sweetest pain, the feeling of when the soul that's destined to find yours is closer to you. Wednesday saw it as a curse, promised herself she would hate whoever was chosen for her; but it's easier said than done.
A/N: I think I've rewritten this part about ten times, but I really hope it turned out somewhat good and hopefully doesn't feel rushed.
Masterlist | Read ch 2 here
Tumblr media
The sunlight molded itself through the windows, casting shadows over Wednesday as she made her way to the quad. There was no need for her to be going there, none other than meeting up with you.
It's been a week and two days since classes started in Nevermore. Since Wednesday has involuntarily allowed you to be a part of her routine.
She discovered that you shared a handful of classes; sometimes meeting on the way to them, getting paired up in fencing, or finding each other between the greenhouse plants. So occasionally — only because your ability to get lost was unparalleled — Wednesday met up with you so you could walk together.
Enid was thrilled that her two friends had already sort of become friends with each other as well; the werewolf had been planning a girl's night, to which Wednesday was already planning her escape plan.
It's also been a little over a week since the persistent burn on Wednesday's skin has been following her incessantly, lurking around the corners and in the middle of crowded rooms, pulsing with a beat that she already knows the rhythm of.
There are times, late nights when she scars her fingers on the cords of her cello, where she recounts every time that she felt it over the day. You are present in most of them.
It's a coincidence, a foul move of this universe only to confuse her, Wednesday tells herself. It had to be, because she had already touched you, hadn't she?
You're sitting by one of the stone pillars when Wednesday reaches the quad, soft sunlight partly casting over you as you focus on something that's on your hands. There's a cold breeze in the air, getting colder as the days go by and winter quickly approaches. The trees barely hold any green anymore, it was pleasant, despite the sun.
Fewer students are hanging around, and Wednesday hates that she already anticipated the pain before it even happened. She inhales sharply, keeping her steps steady toward you as she pushes the feeling to the very back of her mind. A pattern was slowly starting to form, and despite her eagerness to put an end to things, Wednesday has been choosing to ignore it.
She stopped in front of you, her boots short of hitting your sneakers. "What are you doing?"
Always short and direct. It made you smile as you got up from your spot, your eyes capturing traces of golden light and the entirety of Wednesday's attention.
"Hello to you too, Addams," you smirked.
All Wednesday did was slowly start walking to class, knowing you'd be right beside her.
"These", you opened your palm to reveal a small bunch of seeds, "are lavender seeds. Eugene's bees are quite fond of them."
Wednesday's eyebrows scrunched adorably as she looked at your hand and she pursed her lips in concentration, you're not sure she even realizes she's doing it. You're also not sure if your heart has ever felt this way before — burning hot, valves working overtime each second more that you look at her, leaving scorch marks on your skin for the affection you already hold.
Why so easy? You wonder sometimes. Why does your heart change its rhythm for her?
You're stalling with the answers and you know it. And maybe you don't want answers at all, because this way you might just get to keep her.
Would it be too selfish? Too naive of you?
"He asked if I could grow a few for him." Gently, you picked up a single seed, holding it between your thumb and pointer finger.
Wednesday's gaze followed the movement. She watched as the flower bloomed in your hold, its petals growing until their color was a vivid shade of purple.
"For you," you said softly, looking at Wednesday even softer.
The Addams girl wasn't fond of this particular flower. She had this repulsive, sickening feeling in her chest — one she couldn't name, yet didn't have it in herself to chase away. She took the little thing from your hand, her fingertips almost brushing yours.
———
"You know you could just ask permission," Enid suggested, "I'm sure Principal Weems would let you."
Your attention automatically changed to the neglected flowerbed in the middle of the quad, the water from around it was drained and the dead tree that had been burned to a crisp was barely standing on its own.
The sight was saddening to you when you first saw it, and you'd been considering to offer to renovate it.
"You think so?"
"I do," Enid smiled in that bright way only she could manage, propping both elbows on the table so she could rest her head on her hands, "this place desperately needs some color anyway."
You chuckled, tapping your knee with your nails. You could already picture what flowers would go where, and maybe a new tree could be considered as well — it does take a lot of energy from you, but it would look so nice.
"I can go ask with you if you want," Enid offered, apparently sensing your hesitance, her ankle bumping yours under the table.
Your eyebrows raised as you looked at her, "Really? You'd do that?"
"Of course." She tilted her head to the side as a puppy would, "if you let me pick out some of the flowers you'll use."
Your smile was instant, "deal."
———
Branches and dead leaves crushed beneath your feet, the small porcelain pot you had on your hands now housed a bunch of pretty lavender flowers. As you walked, you made a mental note of asking Eugene why the bee shed was so deep into the woods.
Maybe it was because of the calmness of the forest.
Or because of the several bee hives, that seemed more likely.
You bit onto your lip as their buzzing reached your ears, placing one foot in front of the other with care; your attentive eyes watching as the bees walked all over their hives, some even flying above you.
You could hear Eugene inside the shed, talking to someone. He had told you bees were gentle, yet walking between them whilst holding a pot full of lavender felt like walking between lions with a freshly hunted deer.
One bee came to you, landing on a petal of your flowers. She had black and bright yellow to her colors, the small legs moving one after the other as she inspected your gift. Gentle indeed.
And it was only because of your new little friend, that you managed to not drop the flower pot.
Your skin was suddenly burning angrily, making you hiss through your teeth. It didn't make sense; you were deep into the woods, isolated, far away from anyone else. Unless-
"Wednesday, you alright?"
Eugene's voice was muffled when it reached you, but it got your heartbeat skyrocketing all the same, to the point where you felt sick to your stomach.
You knew for a fact that he and Wednesday were the only members of this club, he had told you so time and time again and yet it hadn't even crossed your mind when you agreed to bring him these damn flowers.
There was a pull on your chest that was new, as if someone was trying to carve your heart out. You could feel it; the way her soul was desperately calling for yours. Like being so far apart was torture.
A tear came down your cheek before you were able to gulp it back, followed by another, and then one more. Deep down a part of you already knew it, maybe ever since the first time you landed eyes on her. And you had chosen to live in blissful ignorance, but it was impossible to ignore it now.
Wednesday Addams was your soulmate. And she was going to hate you for it.
"What's wrong?" Eugene asked with urgency when Wednesday hunched over, clutching her wrist against her chest.
Her brown eyes took on a darker shade because of her anger, she huffed through her nose; "I'm considering chopping my arm off, that's what's wrong," she told him through gritted teeth.
Wednesday stomped to the shed's door, pushing it open with force and almost taking the old thing off its hinges.
She looked around frantically, searching for any signs of her other half. There was nothing but the rustling of leaves and the buzzing of bees.
"Why would you do that?" Eugene stood beside Wednesday, adjusting his glasses and following her gaze with confusion as to what she was looking for.
The bees were slowly but surely making their way to a pop of color that rested on a table beside one of the hives. Wednesday walked up to it, "so I can get rid of whatever link the universe thinks I must have with-"
Her words got somewhat tangled in her throat, because the pop of color was a shade of purple she knew already.
———
"… And Principal Weems loved the idea," Enid smiled, the food tray that held her dinner almost spilling its contents with the way she bounced, "it'll look fabulous, she's even letting me pick some of the flowers."
"Fascinating," Wednesday deadpanned, holding a tray of her own.
They reached their table, with Enid sitting on the opposite side of Eugene and leaving some room for Wednesday by her side.
The boy perked up as soon as his friends arrived; "Wednesday, have you felt it again?"
Enid's fork stopped short of reaching her mouth, "felt what?"
"Eugene, you have a mouth that's too big for your own good." Wednesday huffed, slowly setting her tray down.
Too late, because Enid's curiosity had already been poked. "What did she feel?" The werewolf's gaze changed between Wednesday and Eugene animatedly.
"Today in the bee shed," Eugene started, just as thrilled as Enid, "Wednesday felt the soulmate burn." He wiggled his eyebrows.
Enid's eyes were nearly glinting, her lips parted in a wolfish grin, "OMG, no way. Wednesday, you have to tell me absolutely everything about it," she squealed.
Wednesday eye's almost rolled to the back of her head, "I don't, actually. Because it's insignificant."
The look Enid gave her friend made it seem like Wednesday had personally offended her; "How could you say that? It's the most exciting thing. The person that's meant for you, it's right here in Nevermore. Do you have any suspicions? Oh, I could help you look."
Enid's excitement overwhelmed Wednesday. "Stop it, Enid," she said with finality, "this is no reason to be happy about. If anything I'd prefer them on the other side of the world. It's doing nothing besides being in my way."
With that, Wednesday finally sat down, eyes glued to the food she no longer desired to eat. "So drop it," she ended.
Your plan was simple enough.
All you had to do was touch Wednesday, without her knowing. Simple.
You had been pondering over it the entire day. You could still feel your eyes stinging and puffy, no matter how much water you threw on your face.
But it felt like the most sensible thing to do, right? This way you get to at least keep being friends with her, and she won't have to deal with the inconvenience of having her soul tied to yours.
Yes, this is the right thing. You kept replaying the words in your head like a mantra as you pushed open the huge wooden doors of the cafeteria.
As per usual, it was filled with outcasts. Your eyes skimmed over the crowd, looking for the one who tugged at the strings of your poor heart. You found her walking beside Enid, they were talking — well, Enid was talking — and making their way to Eugene's table apparently.
You breathed in deeply. It was now or never. You tugged your hoodie over your head; just in case she saw you, there was a lesser chance of her recognizing you.
Your hands were shaking.
Maybe it was meant to be this way.
Your boots were thudding the stone floor with each slow step.
Maybe that's why destiny hasn't allowed you to ever be alone with her.
You felt like a rope was tied around your throat, tightening by the second. Your vision slightly blurring.
Will your bond with her go away once you do this?
Just before reaching Wednesday, you caught sight of Andrew — a cool guy, usually your partner in Anatomy class — and he was getting up from his seat, empty tray in hand.
You figured you could make it up to him later for using him as a means to an end.
You hurried beside him, linking your arm around his free one with a smile, "Andrew, hey."
The boy looked down at you in surprise, but smiled when he saw who it was. "Hey, what's up?"
"Will you walk with me? I was just uh-" you narrowed your eyes, raking your mind for some excuse to tell him, "just heading over to the kitchen to grab some dessert." Good one.
A faint blush came to his cheeks and you cursed yourself for it. It's alright, he'll get over it.
"Of course, yeah, let's go."
You nodded excitedly, which caused a single tear to escape and slide down your cheek, but you were quick to brush it away before he noticed.
Tugging the boy a little closer to you, you started walking between the tables, each step bringing you closer to Wednesday.
You quickened your steps when she placed her tray down. And even from afar, you could tell she looked unhappy.
"If anything I'd prefer them on the other side of the world. It's doing nothing besides being in my way."
Wednesday's words resembled a sharp knife being steadily plugged into your chest. You didn't need context to know what she was talking about, and it just gave you more reason to believe this was the right thing to do.
You took a breath and held it in for a moment.
It happened both too fast and too slow. Mere seconds that felt like an eternity and a blink.
The tip of your pinkie brushed her own, just before Wednesday sat down. Your skin tingled as it grazed hers. You didn't dare look back, didn't change the rhythm of your steps or the pace of your breathing. All you did is keep walking, with your hand clutching Andrew's arm.
But there was a sudden quietness, the loud chattering of the cafeteria being muffled to your ears. The skin of your hand burned, almost to the point of unbearable and going all the way to the mark on your wrist — with it, you could feel the pace of a heartbeat that wasn't your own, but it was slowly fading, slipping away from your grasp and then…
Nothing. There was nothing. It felt like the stillness of the deep sea waters, calm and steady after a storm.
You pursed your lips to keep the sobs in, feeling the salty taste of your tears.
You read once that the red string of fate that connects two people can never be broken, it may tangle or stretch but never break. So why did you feel like you could hear the snap of it when you walked away from her?

literally no one asked for this. i, however, saw these pictures on Ben Radcliffe’s instagram and decided “you know what this fandom needs? Frat Boy John Brady.” So that’s what this is. And also another excuse to write Willie & Brady coupled with shenanigans that aren’t the horrors of war. i now know way too much about fraternities and sororities. special tag for @wexhappyxfew for seeing the vision. brady has now fallen victim to my “putting characters in places they got no business being in” just like Ron
John should’ve majored in the art of escape.
It was seamless — slipping away from the beer pong table, head half-swimming and just a little bit stumbly. Pretty much every room on the first floor was swathed in a smoke-laden haze; John figures that Dougie’s countless social media posts must have done the trick. Most people he’s run into are strangers to him. That, and with this being the first party of the year, the turnout was bound to be big. His head was just pounding, and he needed a place to sit that wouldn’t open up the invitation for a random stranger to inadvertently sit on him.
Omega Pi’s brothers and others only policy on the second floor is a blessing in that way. He just needed a solid fifteen minutes before Bucky could sniff him out like a bloodhound and drag him into something stupid. Last semester he’d somehow managed to persuade John into drinking way too much tequila directly from the bottle, and he still gets nauseous whenever someone mentions margaritas.
He’s pretty sure he heard Benny say something about a bottle of Patrón behind the bar and he isn’t sticking around to find out.
John climbs the stairs, a little wobbly-legged, still foggy-brained as he tries to guesstimate how long he’ll have until he’s hunted down by any variety of friends wondering “Where the hell Brady’s at?” He figures maybe fifteen, twenty minutes, and that fact imbues him to move a little bit quicker to his own door, admittedly fumbling with the knob as he makes his way inside — Dougie’s playlist immediately muffled once he shuts the door, and for that he’s thankful.
He reaches for one of his vinyls on the shelf and sets it on the record player, flicking the switch and setting the needle before throwing himself haphazardly onto the bed itself and shutting his eyes a moment. The sharp beginnings of a headache are beginning to take root behind his eyes as he lets them flutter shut a moment. Deep inhale, slow exhale, ears latching onto the smooth jazz of the vinyl as opposed to the muffled Future track that was shaking the walls of their esteemed house.
He just needed t—
Click.
John’s head snaps up upon hearing his door open and shut quickly. His brows furrow, taking in the mostly shapeless form with their back to him. A varsity jacket maybe two sizes too big swathed their frame, they had curly black hair that’d gone frizzy — presumably from the amount of people downstairs. John clenches his jaw, staving off the irritation forming. This was either Bucky sending someone up here to draw him out already, or the nighttime company of someone else who’d found the wrong room. Their shoulders seem to relax and they let out a small sigh, not yet noticing him.
John gives this person the benefit of the doubt and goes with the second option.
“Think you’ve got the wrong room,” he opens with a clearing of his throat. The person gasps, small and surprised, head whipping around to meet him and— oh.
Her eyes are big and brown, brows raised and lips parted for a moment. They stare at each other, wordless, and he’ll blame the fact that he’s kind of taken aback for the moment on the alcohol — taking her in. She has on one of those black corset tops and a pair of beat up white sneakers. He recognizes her, vaguely, having seen her come in with a group of girls from the sorority house down the street. Bucky knew them better than he did, but to be fair, Bucky knew everybody.
“Sorry I didn’t—” she presses herself back up against the door again, lips pressing into a line. “Was just looking for a quiet spot. You guys have uh… persistent party guests. I can— I can leave if—” she’s reaching for the doorknob and John’s sitting up, reaching like he’s going to cross the threshold to stop her from turning the knob.
“No. No, you can stay. I just thought you were—”
“Here to hook up?” His face heats up at her blunt delivery of it, and John coughs unceremoniously into his fist.
“...yeah, something like that.” She nods, her expression unreadable, the silence between them admittedly stiff. He’s sitting up more, as opposed to his prior position laid out sidelong on his bed, extending his hand and feeling almost dumb for doing so. “I’m… I’m John er— Brady. John Brady.” Jesus Christ, when did he ever trip over his words like this.
She takes it, shaking his hand and he can’t help but notice the callouses, the chipped manicure and blue stains on her fingers.
“I’ve heard.” His eyes widen at that.
“You’ve heard?” There seems to be a twitch at the corner of her lip, she looks from their hands back up to him.
“One of your friends… Ev? I think his name was? Was looking for a uh… Johnny with the Donny and I’m pretty sure you’re the only one hiding up here.” John doesn’t know whether to laugh or to hide his burning face in the pillows and try to stave off the tequila-induced PTSD he feels coming back in full force. He decides to snort quietly instead of further embarassing himself.
“Except for you.” She nods, squeezing his hand and then letting it go.
“Except for me.” John really wishes he were more sober for this, just so he’d stop getting caught up in long dark lashes and the pink dusting on her cheeks that he doesn’t know if it’s from makeup or from him. His half-inebriated brain hopes that it’s because of him. He almost misses her introduction. “I’m Willie.”
John smiles.
“That short for something?”
“Nothing worth repeating. Too many syllables.” She waves her hand dismissively, and he scoffs in amusement at how quick Willie is to dismiss it. He figures not to press this time.
“Alright. Hope you don’t mind jazz then. You can uh… sit wherever,” John welcomes, gesturing to his space. At least he could pride himself on keeping things neat in here — even if their kitchen would be sticky with spilled beer tomorrow and it’d take a good chunk of their Sunday to clean everything up. Willie makes her way over to his desk chair and plops down — it rolls with the force of her as she looks around his room with an innocent type of curiosity.
“You have… a lot of music,” she murmurs in a quiet sense of wonder — the kind that makes John feel warm down to the tips of his toes.
“It’s kinda my whole thing…” her eyes are drawn back to him and he feels suddenly shy. “Music Ed.”
“History,” Willie looks at the vinyls he has neatly stored on his shelf by the record player. “If I tell you I’ve never heard this song, are you going to kick me out?”
“You’ve never listened to Sade?” She smiles a little bit — this time he’s sure of it — still eyeing his vinyls, and shakes her head. “Well I won’t kick you out but I might not let you leave ‘till you can name three songs off the top of your head.”
“God, you’re one of those.”
“Oh absolutely. The worst kind,” he’s teasing now, and it’s landing because she’s laughing in a breathless kind of way, a way that sobers him up as if to ensure he could commit her to memory as she is now. And she’s, well… she’s beautiful, sitting at his desk chair, looking at the CD cases he’d put up on his walls at the start of the term. Effortlessly so. He’d make her laugh for the rest of the night in this space if it weren’t for the fickleness of his hiding spot. Her eyes fall onto him again and they look over him from his spot on the edge of the bed. Her gaze is piercing as they dart over the length of him with all the swiftness of a hummingbird, her fingers reaching up to mess with her bottom lip a moment. “I’m sure there’s probably worse.”
John raises his brows.
“Yeah?”
“Mhm, considering…” she gestures to the space around him. “I mean— there’re frats with worse reputations too. I just heard that Omega Pi’s—”
“Reckless?” She nods succinctly, with a half-hearted shrug.
“And that some of you go through girls like a mom in a Target clearance aisle,” John makes a noise that’s half between being strangled and laughing. “Guys too.” It takes him a minute to come back down to Earth after that one, rubbing at his face, halfway between embarrassment and amusement. Okay, she wasn’t wrong: his friends had a tendency to do some stupid shit, himself included, and while he in specific wasn’t hooking up with anyone with a pulse — he’s pretty sure that Dougie bought three boxes of condoms after move-in day. But they hadn’t done anything to get arrested and he’s pretty sure all the guys were, well, clean where it mattered.
“That’s just Dougie,” John offers, and she raises an inquisitive brow.
“And Bucky.”
“Christ, what’d he do?”
“Nothing, he just has the look to him.” Okay, that’s fair. “And he definitely stole my friend from me to play beer pong because he couldn’t find his partner.” John clicks his tongue at that.
“That might’ve been my fault.” Willie rises from her seat and he watches as she seems to mull it over for a moment, before crossing to actually sit next to him now. She’s so much closer than before — his lamp lights up some of her dark hair to make it look more brown, there’s a shimmer of faded highlighter on her cheeks and something inexplicably pretty about the mascara flakes dotting just below her eyes. He’d wipe them with his thumbs if she’d let him. He gives her a half-shrug. “Like I said, we’re both hiders.”
With the small laugh and bob of her head, he catches a whiff of her perfume. Something clean and a little citrusy, reminding him vaguely of springtime in spite of the autumn leaves changing outside.
“Well then it’s not all bad.” She decides on, sincerely. His knee bumps into hers and they exchange quiet smiles — the air significantly less stiff between them. Something warm sprouting between them and charged by the points where they connect. His pinky finds hers on the mattress, and in a brief move of boldness, he lets his hand overlap hers. Willie looks down, cheeks flushing as she looks back up at him.
She really is a vision, flustered like this.
She opens her mouth to speak but is immediately cut-off by Mambo No. 5 blaring — John knows that’s not his ringtone, and so he laughs in disbelief as Willie’s eyes widen.
“That’s— my friend Harrie set that I think. I—”
“It’s fine. Maybe you’re just a Lou Bega fan.”
“John—” she narrows her eyes and he thinks he might swat at her so he’s leaning back.
“Well don’t keep them waiting.”
She huffs, picking up the phone with a very flat “Hello?” but the voice on the other end is so loud that he can hear it clear as day.
“Where are you? Fern’s up on the table and I can’t get her down!” Willie looks at John, who’s hand is covering his own mouth to muffle his laughter, evident by his shaking shoulders. The exchange is quick: Willie’s words are flat, almost bewildered, and she’s batting at him as they talk before she hangs up the phone and looks at him with what he’s pretty sure is disappointment. He can’t say he’s not disappointed either.
“Guess I’ve been found. I can leave you here, tell them you passed out.” He shakes his head, standing up as she does, rubbing the nape of her neck.
“That’s never stopped them before and it won’t start now,” he admits, turning to switch off his record player, walking towards his door to get it for her. She walks past with quiet thanks and John watches for a few moments, admiring her departing figure before walking after her and descending back down the stairs into the chaos — the sound of his name on her scolding tongue looping over and over again in the back of his mind.

warnings: mentions vomiting, hospitalization
notes: enjoy!

It’s barely 7:30 AM when Sid’s phone starts ringing. He ignores it the first time but when it chimes again he groans as he picks it up.
“Hello?”
“Mr. Sid?”
At the sound of Vivie’s voice on the other line Sid is sitting up and wiping at his eyes. He pulls his phone away and checks that it’s Annie’s number she’s calling from.
“Vivie, why do you have your moms phone? Is everything okay?”
There’s a beat of silence before Vivie answers, “I got up for school but mommy is sick and she said I can’t go to school because she can’t drive me. But it’s Lily's birthday today and she’s bringing cupcakes and I can’t miss that.”
“Okay, I’m on my way Viv. How’s… Is your mom okay?”
“She’s throwing up and her forehead is hot. I checked her tebature just like she does when I’m sick,” Vivie pauses. “Is mommy going to be okay?”
“Of course Vivie,” Sid rushes out. “She’s gonna be fine. I’ll be there in 10 minutes okay?”
“Okay Mr. Sid.”
Sid hangs up and pulls on the first thing he can find before racing downstairs. He’s worried for Vivie and how scared she sounded, but he’s also worried about how sick Annie must be if she can’t even drive Vivie to school.
He hadn’t heard from Annie in three days, not since their fight. Sid had wanted to call her multiple times, to tell her that they could talk things out, but her anger and hurt flashed into his mind every time and he figured it would be best to let her come to him.
By the time he pulls into Annie’s driveway Sid knows he’s broken a few speed limits but he can’t bring himself to care as he bounds up to the front door. He finds it unlocked and Vivie is perched on the couch by the door with her backpack on. Her socks are mismatched and her curls are wild but she seems pretty put together.
“Hey Viv,” Sid kneels down in front of the little girl and cups one of her cheeks. “You okay?”
Vivie nods but Sid can see the tears welling in her eyes. She throws her arms around his neck and he pulls her in close as she cries. The sad little noises break Sidney’s heart as he holds his daughter tight.
“It’s okay, I got you,” Sid whispers the words as he runs a hand through Vivie’s curls. “I got you, don’t worry.”
“Mommy was sick and I was really scared,” Vivie sobs. “I just want her to be okay.”
“Mommy is going to be fine, I promise,” Sid reassures Vivie before pulling back and ruffling her curls. “Can I go check on your mommy before I take you to school?”
With a nod of agreement from Vivie, Sid stands and walks down the hall. It’s eerily silent but he
keeps on as he heads toward Annie’s room. When he pushes open the door she’s not in bed so he continues into the en suite, his heart lurching as he steps in.
“Annie? Hey Anns,” Sid rushes to kneel next to Annie who’s laying on the floor, face pale and unmoving. “Shit… Annie you gotta wake up.”
Annie groans in protest as Sid brushes back her hair, nuzzling her cheek into his hand. He takes it as a good sign that she’s at least somewhat coherent.
“Hey baby, I need you to open your eyes. Can you look at me?” Annie groans again but finally looks up at Sid, his heart rate slowing incrementally as she blinks up at him. “There’s my sweet girl. How are you feeling?”
“Why’re you here,” Annie buries her face in his lap and Sid’s hand instinctively comes up to stroke through her hair. “You’re mad at me.”
“I’m not mad at you, we just had a disagreement,” Sid sighs as he looks down at Annie. “I would never leave you stranded when you’re like this.”
“Mmm… Viv… where’s Vivie?”
“She’s fine, I’m more worried about you,” Sid whispers. “How long have you been sick?”
Annie pauses before speaking up again, her voice rough as she looks up at Sid from his lap, “Mmm yesterday? Started after I dropped Vivie off at school. Anna brought her home and I was able to cook dinner but once she went to bed it started up again. I’ve been here since then.”
Sid sighs heavily as Annie closes her eyes again, resting against his thigh. He pulls his phone out and dials Anna, asking if she would come pick up Vivie before school.
With Vivie sorted Sid stands and picks up Annie, depositing her into her bed before going to find Vivie.
“Vivie, Anna and Nikita are going to come and pick you up and I’m going to stay here and take care of your mama,” Sid crouches in front of Vivie and takes her hand. “Is that okay?”
Vivie pouts but nods and throws herself at Sid for another hug. In the few weeks since her birthday Vivie, Sid, and Annie had been spending a lot of time together. He and Vivie had grown closer, especially because of their love of being on the ice. He doesn’t hesitate to hold her close until Anna texts him that she’s outside.
“C’mon Viv,” when Vivie makes no move to get out of his arms Sidney carries her outside. “Look Niki saved you a seat right next to him.”
“Okay… Thank you for taking care of mommy,” Vivie leans up and presses a kiss to Sid’s cheek before pulling back and buckling in.
“Everything okay?” Anna asks after he’s shut the door. “How’s Annie?”
“Not good, but I got her. I might need you to pick Vivie up too,” Sid rubs the back of his neck as he looks at Anna with a sad smile. “I appreciate you coming to get her.”
“Of course, keep me updated.”
Sid shuffles back inside and goes to Annie’s room, finding her sleeping. Sidney comes to sit next to her, his hand floating up to brush away her wayward curls. Annie makes a sound of approval, but doesn’t move.
“I got you, Anns. I’m right here,” Sid whispers, his voice shaky. “I’m not going anywhere.”
+
Annie manages to sleep for almost two hours while Sid cleans the house. He’s just finishing wiping the dining room table when he hears the sound of her retching.
“Hey, it’s okay baby,” Sid rubs Annie’s shoulders, speaking in a quiet voice. “I got you, I’m right here.”
With a stuttering breath Annie settles her head on her hands, a groan leaving her lips, “Sid…”
“I’m here,” Sid supplies quickly. “What do you need?”
“Just you,” Annie groans, head swaying to the side as she attempts to sit up. “Fuck…”
She’s barely sitting up for a few seconds before Annie collapses into Sid’s arms, limp arms falling to her sides.
“Shit Anns, wake up please,” Sid pleads to no avail. “Come on, Annie please.”
Without another option Sid quickly gathers Annie up in his arms and heads out to his car.
“I got you, Annie,” Sid whispers as he holds her close. “I got you.”
+
When Annie awakes it’s not in her bedroom where she fell asleep. The air is cold and smells funny and the bed is uncomfortable. She goes to wipe the sleep from her eyes but feels something tugging at her arm.
“Don’t move too much, you’re okay. Everything’s fine, baby.”
That piques Annie’s interest, her head turning so she can see Sidney in the chair next to her bed. Her hand is firmly grasped in his and he looks like he hasn’t slept in days.
“I… What happened?”
“You scared the shit out of me is what happened,” Sid leans up and cups her cheek tenderly, locking eyes with her. “You were sick and then you passed out and I couldn’t get you to come back around.”
“How did you know I was sick?”
Sid smirks, that same smile she’s seen on Vivie a million times, “Viv called me. And I’m glad she did, Anns.”
“But we had a fight,” Annie stutters. “I… Why’d you come still?”
“Annie,” Sid sighs. “I would come no matter what. And yeah we did have a fight but I told you I’d be there for you and I meant it.”
Shutting her eyes again, Annie leans into the warmth of Sidney’s hand pressed to her cheek. She’ll unpack his words later, for now her mind is stuck on Vivie and how she must’ve been so scared. She feels awful for putting her through that. Her face must give her away because Sid is comforting her in seconds.
“Hey none of that. Vivie is fine, okay? I just talked to her and she’s having a great time with Nikita,” Sid whispers as his thumb gently strokes her cheek. Annie relaxes at his words and looks back to him with teary eyes. “No tears, everything is okay.”
A knock on the door interrupts them, both heads turning to see the doctor come in, “Glad to see you’re awake Ms. Wright, you were really out of it.”
Annie blushes but lets the doctor continue, “Do you want to speak in private or…?”
Looking to Sid for only a second, Annie shakes her head and turns back to the doctor, “He’s fine, he can stay.”
“Well you were severely dehydrated, which is probably why you passed out. But we’ve given you a lot of fluids and an anti nausea medication that should help. I want you to continue on the medication for the next few months so this doesn’t become a common occurrence, especially since you’ll need to keep your fluid and food intake up to keep gaining weight.”
“Gaining weight?” Annie laughs nervously, Sid's hand squeezing hers. “Why would I need to gain weight?”
“Well you’ll already be gaining weight from the baby but we want you to be able to keep yourself and them healthy.”
Annie is frozen as she stares at the doctor, eyes wide and heart palpitating as she takes in her words. The doctor must notice and take pity on her, checking her chart quickly, “You do know you’re pregnant right? About 12 weeks, but we can do an ultrasound to confirm if you’d like.”
Pregnant.
The overwhelming urge to vomit overtakes Annie and before she can move Sid has a basin in front of her. Her chest burns as nothing but water comes up, gasping breaths leaving her as she tries to calm down.
“Breathe Annie, you’re okay,” Sid calmly reassures her, a steadying hand on her back. “Deep breaths.”
She can barely make out the doctor saying she would be back in a little bit as she brings her hands up to her face and presses her palms into her eyes.
A baby. God Annie doesn’t know if she can handle another pregnancy alone, not to mention raising two kids by herself. A small cry leaves her throat before a hand settles on her arm.
“Anns,” Sidney whispers and its gentle enough to coax Annie to bring her hands away from her face. “Hey, it’s okay.
“No it’s not! I can’t raise two kids by myself,” Annie sniffles and wipes at her face. “I can’t do this!”
There’s a long and slow pause before Sid speaks up, “Even though it’s not my baby I’ll still be here for you Annie.”
Annie pauses, looking over at Sidney with a puzzled expression, “What?”
“I was serious when I said I wanted to be there for you and Vivie,” Sid stares up at her with teary eyes and grabs her hand again. “You don’t have to do this alone.”
“Sidney,” Annie whispers as they meet eyes. “The baby’s yours. There’s no one else.”
Wide hazel eyes stare back at her and Annie could almost laugh if she wasn’t on the verge of crying, “I- but… You said you were going to have to do everything by yourself. I thought…”
“Because I always do, it's always just been me. Anyways, it’s fine,” Annie brushes Sid off. “You’re going to take the job with the Penguins. I can handle this.”
“If you think I’m going to miss another one of my kids lives you’re wrong,” Sid leans up and presses his forehead against hers. “I’m not leaving you, I’m going to be right by your side for everything. You and Vivie and this baby… You’re all I need, all I want. Fuck hockey, fuck the job offer. I’m not losing you again.”
A choked sob leaves Annie as Sidney pulls her into his chest. His warmth is comforting and for the first time in a long time she feels herself relax, clinging to Sid tightly.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry I was so mean to you. I didn’t mean any of it,” she cries as she presses her face to Sid’s chest, all of her unspoken worries spilling out. “I know you won't leave us. I’m sorry, please don’t leave.”
“I’m not leaving, I swear,” Sid whispers as he holds her. “I’m not going anywhere Annie.”
+
“Mommy!”
Vivie’s excited squeal sounds through the house as soon as Annie and Sid step through the front door of Annie’s house. Sid steps in front of Annie to catch Vivie as she barrels towards her mom.
“Your mommy is very excited to see you Viv but she’s also really fragile right now, so we have to be gentle,” Sid meets Vivie’s eyes and gives her a serious look which she returns with a nod. He gives her a quick hug before setting her down and letting her give Annie a hug.
“I missed you so much my baby,” Annie’s voice cracks as she holds Vivienne close. “Have you been good for Anna and Geno?”
Vivie nods but doesn’t say anything as she clings to Annie. Sid gives Annie a smile before wandering into the kitchen, giving the mother and daughter some space.
“Sid, everything okay?” Geno asks as he pulls Sid in for a hug. “How’s Annie?”
“Good, doing a lot better,” Sid rubs the back of his neck as he glances back toward the entrance where Vivie and Annie still are. “Just some really bad morning sickness.”
Geno’s brows shoot up as he looks at Sid who’s blushing under his gaze, “Yours?”
A nod is all Geno needs to be pulling Sid back into a hug, congratulating him on their new addition. Sid says hello to Nikita but both he and Geno are out the door after a few minutes.
When he returns to the living room, Annie and Vivie are curled up on the couch together with a movie playing. Annie catches his eye and motions for Sid to join them.
“Mr. Sid we’re watching mommy’s favorite movie,” Vivie exclaims, doing her best not to jostle Annie as she points to the screen where The Sound of Music has started. “It’s a super long movie so you better get comfy.”
With a chuckle Sid takes the spot next to Annie who immediately snuggles closer to him. With Annie curled up in his lap and Vivie next to her he feels at peace. His hand gently drifts toward Annie’s stomach, fingers brushing over where their baby rests. The motion has her moving closer to him, her hand pressing into his chest.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” Annie whispers.
“No where else I would rather be.”

There was barely any times Jenna felt abandoned, hopeless, trapped, and there were even less times where Jenna felt this way about a woman, an ordinary citizen. Vulnerable was never a side she would welcome, it made her feel weak, an easy access for Gio, so when you came along, you were an anomaly, you were only supposed to be a one-night stand, she would never admit it but the heat of her heart upon talking to you melted the layer of ice she projects.
Oh, how she wishes she had never spoken to you, you would’ve been safe, if everything she cares for would be destroyed, if she had never spoken to you, crimson would have never painted her hands, your crimson, your blood spilt was a reminder this was all her fault.
But, would there have been more regret if she left you alone that night? There was barely any times Jenna felt vulnerable, but when she’s with you, that’s what she is, and tonight, she was more vulnerable than ever. Vulnerability wasn’t welcomed, but it encased every inch of her.
“Jen, you have to let go of her.” Viv sighs, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Jenna winces away, “NO, no, I can’t, I can’t, please, Viv.”
“Hun, I know you don’t want to, but we have to get her on this stretcher so Kaman can take of her.”
“I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF HER.” Now in a softer tone and as her tears fall, she repeats, “I was supposed to take care of her.”
Viv understood her feelings, she didn’t want to lose you either, and at the possibility of losing you, she couldn’t lose Jenna the same night, “Jenna, this isn’t your fault, you have to get that through your head.”
How she would give up anything in the world right now to see your seraphic smile again, she’d trade her throne, she’d take off her mafia crown and let the city fall into the hands of Gio Marcello if it meant your hands could caress her face once more. The weakened brunette, always so contumacious, never giving in, but she knew she had to, just this once, although, she was a great negotiator.
“Can I at least hold her in the stretcher?” There was always a fierceness in her eyes, Viv and Bruce knew that look all too well, but seeing her like this was different, the same knots in their backs that Jenna’s stubbornness caused were untied by her weakness, well in Jenna’s eyes, her weakness, but in reality, it was proof she’s just like any other citizen on the street, hurt and scared, in this moment, she wasn’t the most feared woman, wasn’t the crown heir to the Ortega family, she wasn’t a playboy, she wasn’t egotistical, she wasn’t arrogant, she was just Jenna.
“Oh, baby, I don’t thin-.”
“Of-course, you can Jenna, I just need to to be careful and still so I can take her vitals administer an IV.” Kaman, the head doctor of the towers, cuts in.
“I promise.”
As the two of you are whisked away into a nearby elevator, Viv and Bruce stay back, as much as they wanted to accompany their friends, they knew they had a job to do, they couldn’t let the family fall, not when Jenna needs them most, and so with unspoken words, the two of them knew exactly what to do. Bruce manning a team of soldiers, investigating what happened and who caused this mess, and Viv staying remote collecting intel from Bruce whilst trying to hold the integrity of the tower when their leader has fallen. Temporarily of course, hopefully.
~~
Ignorance is bliss is the saying, and Bruce so wanted to bathe in this bliss, the bliss where he doesn’t find out what happened to you, his demeanour paints itself as large rottweiler, physically, his brute strength would scare any normal human being away but, on the inside, he had a heart as strong as the winds on top of mountains.
For you, his heart welcomed you in, he won’t ever admit it to Jenna, only because she’d deny it, but when he senses Jenna truly cares for someone, his love and care automatically calls out for that same person. His overprotectiveness over you blames himself slightly for what happened, but not as much as Jenna did.
“Bruce, we found y/n’s blood and smashed up cameras from across the street and corners, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologise.” His flat tone masking the fact he’s trying his best to hold everything. “Were you guys able to find anything else?”
“Right, and unfortunately not.”
Bruce sighs deeply with remorse, “shit, wait okay, okay, get the smashed cameras to Ammo in tech, she’s savvy with these things, it’s slim, but we have to try.”
One of his soldiers’ nods and the rest start collecting fragments of evidence alongside the actual cameras. “Hey Viv, we might have something, meet me on Ammo’s floor, she might be able to resurrect the SD card from the cameras.”
~~
As much as she wanted to stay, the force of her wanted to leave, Jenna held you for so long, but she got so lost in the pain, she forgot the copious amount of regret and guilt she’d feel when you woke up and saw her face, you told her you hate her, but did you mean it? Either way, she wanted nothing to do with these feelings, you’re better off waking up next to someone you love.
“Jenna?” Kaman, looks up from you after doing her regular check, “where are you going, sweetie, doctor intuition tells me she’ll be waking up soon.”
“Out.” Her body was shutting her heart down, her brain is in control now and maybe it should’ve stayed in control, not passing on the torch to her heart, a lot of regret wouldn’t have existed if that were the case. Jenna grits her teeth and lets out a breath through the minuscule gaps between, “I’m calling Solana, her best friend, she deserves to know what happened, and she,” now pointing at you with her forehead, eyebrows “she deserves someone else here.”
“You’re running away again, Jenna.”
“What else am I supposed to do?” Jenna bites back.
“Stay.”
“That’s not an option.” Jenna, now using a tone you’d only hear from a mother. Before Kaman could say anything else, the space between you and her had been closed off, and that wasn’t the only thing restrictive.
There was something about the night ambiance that always provided fresh air, each molecule of oxygen that raced through her body was pure, antonymous with the blood spilt over the years as a result of her hands.
Hello? Who is this?
Hi Solana, sorry for the late-night call but something happened, oh, it’s Jenna by the way.
Though it was over the phone, Jenna could feel Sol’s heart drop.
OH! Jenna, hi, Sol is fine by the way, is y/n okay? I’ve been trying to reach her, but I can’t seem to get a hold of her.
There was an accident… Can you come to the towers?
Fuck, okay, I’m on my way.
Once Sol walks into, Jenna is greeted with a heavy heart, yet a kind smile. “Is she okay?”
“She will be, she’s going to wake up soon, she’ll want you there, just head up to the floor marked with H.”
“Aren’t you coming with?”
At this very moment, something clouded the air, you couldn’t see it, feel it nor smell it but something in the air that made Jenna retain why she’s not going up with Sol, “she needs you, not me and plus, I have to do something.” That last line was a ramble, she didn’t have to do anything, not at this very moment, but she couldn’t go see you. Couldn’t or won’t?
Sol sighs and takes a step towards Jenna, “okay,” the mafia queen had never been easy to read, no one knew what went on inside of her, but tonight, Sol read her like a novel, but she didn’t want to push. “You know,” caressing Jenna’s hand “whatever happened, it wasn’t your fault, Jenna, no one blames you.” Jenna didn’t have the courage to look at Sol in the eyes, all she could muster up was “y/n does.”
“I’ve known her for years, I share a soul with her, pun intended,” trying to make Jenna smile, but Sol is sure that joke flew over her head, “she doesn’t blame you.” Sol’s last attempt to console Jenna and try to convince her to come up but stubborn is Jenna’s middle name, so all she could give Sol was a headshake and a smile as the elevator doors close.
Maybe I should go to her. A constant thought that flooded Jenna’s mind but in the split second where she was about to press the button marked ‘H’ on the elevator, a text from Viv telling her to meet them on the tech floor came through, directing her finger towards the button marked ‘T’ instead.
Walking into the office, Jenna’s fist immediately clenches up at the sight of smashed up cameras with intricate wires tangled up within each other. “For the sake of everyone in the city, PLEASE tell me you’ve found something,” there was desperation in her tone, she wanted to throw the closest object across the room but the breath she takes seems to calm her down enough to hear her little posse out.
Like Alvin and the Chipmunks, Bruce, Viv, and Ammo avert their gaze from the screen to Jenna, “this right here is why you pay me six figures.” Ammo retorts, making Jenna giggle a bit, the first time a positive sound escaped her mouth since finding out you were hurt.
“Alright, no need to boast, especially when I make 10.” Jenna smirks and Ammo rolls her eyes.
“How’s y/n?” Viv says with concern.
“Ah, she’s great?” There was some hesitation when she answered, truthfully, she doesn’t know how you are, when she left you, you were stable, but she doesn’t know how you are. “I’m not really sure, Sol is up with her, and I got a text from Kaman that she woke up when I was on the way up.”
“And you’re not there?” Viv exclaims with such flash.
“She won’t want me there.”
Viv inflates her cheeks to the brim with air before letting out a huff, “Ammo, will you please pass me the magazine on your desk.” As no words were exchanged, Viv starts to roll up the paper and trains her eyes at Jenna, no one knew what was going to happen next.
“BAD, JENNA, BAD.” Viv screams as she knocks Jenna on the head with the magazine, at the same time, Jenna extends her arms above her head, flinching away at every hit as a way to protect herself.
“VIV?” Jenna squeals, “what was that for?” she then questions whilst Bruce and Ammo try so hard not to laugh as tears form in their eyes.
“That’s for being here, waltzing around like an idiot when you should be waltzing around like an idiot up there,” Viv pointer finger erects up, “you know, with y/n?”
“I just- she doesn’t, she hates? Aw for fucks sake, just show the video, stop lingering on me.” Jenna commands, not wanting to talk about her feelings, and definitely not wanting to talk about her feelings for you. What feelings? Does she even have feelings for you?
“Are you sure? It’s a bit, well you know.” Viv informs.
“How much blood have I washed from my hands?” Jenna bites back.
“Yeah, but you didn’t have feelings for said blood.” Viv points out, making Bruce and Ammo scoff out a laugh.
“What? I don’t have feelings for y/n!” Jenna starts getting all defensive and in unison just like the chipmunks, the group of three goes “mhmhm.”
“Ugh, whatever, just play the video.” As the video plays, Jenna watches what that night was like for you, in clear technicolour, how the man had followed you like a predator set on his prey. And as his palm lands on your face, she squirms, she doesn’t want to go on, she doesn’t want to see you like this. No amount of violence she had witnessed and caused could ever prepare her for what she was watching.
JENNA! JENNA! PLEASE, JENNA, PLEASE, JUST STOP!
The colour drained from Jenna’s face as quickly as the rage set in, once she heard the first syllable of her name, she knew you were calling out to her and it was all too much for her, there was water setting on her tongue, if she saw anymore, she was sure she’d throw up everywhere. Jenna rushes out the office, accidentally slamming the glass door behind her, drawing the attention of the other tech workers to her, but their gazes quickly returned to their screens as they realise who they were staring at.
“Jenna, are you okay?” Viv asks as she closes the door behind her, Jenna couldn’t hold eye contact with her, too scared that tears would start streaming down her face if she had seen the softness of Viv’s face; concerned for her dear friend.
“I’m fine.” The words just barely making it through her teeth.
“You’re not, and that’s okay, I just need you to tell me what’s going on through your head, this entire tower is your family, we can help.”
“She-” Jenna croaks, “she called for me, Vivica.” Using her full name, this indicated she was an even bigger mess than anyone anticipated, Jenna would use ‘Vivica’ when things got too serious, too overwhelming, and those times barely existed, Viv greeting her name like a stranger. “She called for me and I wasn’t there, I couldn’t save her.”
Placing a firm grip on both her shoulders, Viv comforts Jenna, “Jenna, look at me, there was nothing you could do in that moment to help her, get that through your thick skull.” Jenna huffs out a deep sigh, “but.” “No buts, stop blaming yourself, and you did save her, she’s alive because you took her in.” Viv reassures.
“Okay.” Jenna didn’t want to ‘okay’ this conversation, especially when she herself wasn’t okay. But that was all she could muster up at this moment.
“Okay. Now tell me what you need.”
“I need to find that man and kill him.” An ‘o’ shape forms Viv’s mouth, but she doesn’t know why she’s surprised, this was the most logical solution for Jenna. “No, not kill, that’d be giving him mercy, I want to hurt him so bad he wishes he was never born.” There was such fury in Jenna’s eyes, a fury no one had ever seen, not even Viv, but she understood, she shared that same fury, it was the same with Bruce, but Jenna held most of the fire, she conjured it.
“Okay, okay, that’s on brand, but before you go out and hunt him down and we feed you information, you should know, this wasn’t a random attack, the van that ended up picking him and her up, ultimately dropping her off at our feet was Marcello.”
“Gio did this?” The fire only growing stronger at the realisation that Gio was using you as a manipulation tactic to see her fall, to make her weak, vulnerable.
“Unfortunately, so he may be guarded.”
“He won’t, he’s a useless pawn to Gio, and I’m assuming he wasn’t supposed to hurt her that bad.”
~~
As Jenna heads down to the garage, everyone at their stations waiting to give Jenna information on Jameson’s whereabouts, Jenna ends up running into a frantic Sol. “Sol? Are you okay?”
“Jenna! Just the girl I was looking for, y/n’s awake, she’s doing great and she’s looking for you.” Jenna wishes she had never run into Sol, the guilt she buried about how she wasn’t there when you woke up was slowly making its way back up to the surface and that same feeling of saliva settling on her tongue was back again.
“I’m glad she’s doing better.”
“You’re not coming to see her?”
Before Jenna could answer, adding onto the guilt that harbours her, Sol had once more read Jenna and the twitch in her eyes, the pursed lips and the disconnected eye contact told her all she needed to know. “I wish you believed that this isn’t your fault.”
“Me too,” Jenna smiles at her, “later, when she’s well enough, I want her to recover in my penthouse, I’ll have people set up the guest bedroom, it’ll give me peace of mind that she’s here with m-, with uh, you know protection.”
Sol tries to hide her smirk at Jenna’s slight mistake where she was supposed to say ‘me,’ where she wanted to say ‘me,’ “that’s very sweet of you, it’ll give me some peace of mind too.”
“If you want, I can have another room set up for you?” Jenna kindly offers.
“OH, no, that’s very sweet, but I don’t want to intrude, and plus I have a business to run and I’m not in any danger, thank you though.”
“Of-course, just let me know if you change your mind, and the only thing that poses a danger to you is TMZ stealing your work.” Jenna winks, making Sol laugh, before heading towards her personal garage, separate the the tower’s garage.
Which car today? She thinks to herself, “take the GT3, perfect for a 1am cruise, we can see you wallowing in indecisiveness, this is a problem only you’d have by the way.” Viv speaks, coming from Jenna’s ear piece.
“Heh, you’re right the irish green GT3 is perfect for a 1am cruise, though this won’t be a cruise, more like sweet, sweet revenge.”
“Yuck, never say that again, this isn’t a movie.”
“Hmm, kinda is, but maybe more like a book.”
~~
As you wait for Sol to get back from her little quest, you can’t help but wonder if it’ll just be Sol walking through the doors or will Jenna accompany her. Despite being beaten to a pulp, you remembered everything, you’ve always had a stellar memory and despite all the hurt and pain, there was something about the warmth Jenna encased you in whilst in your arms that washed away the pain, each beat of your heart was in sync with hers and for once she wasn’t the most feared woman in America, she was Jenna.
Just Jenna, with the ability to be vulnerable like everybody else. As much as you didn’t want to admit it, waking up to the lack of her warmth ached you, but that doesn’t mean you weren’t grateful and relieved to see Sol by your side, but deep down your heart longed to be in sync with hers again.
“Hi, my sweet one.”
“Sol!” And only Sol walked through the doors, leaving you deflated, not realising you displayed your disappointment for Sol to see.
“I know, I’m sorry.”
“No, don’t apologise, it’s okay, I just thought, never mind, it’s stupid.”
“It really isn’t y/n.” Sol takes a seat by your leg on your bed.
“I just want to thank her.”
“She knows you’re thankful, what you really want is her, or do you still hate her?” Sol teases.
You hmph, “I don’t want her.” Is that a lie, y/n? “And I don’t necessarily hate her.”
“Hm, okay, whatever makes you sleep at night, however, if you don’t hate her, why’d you tell her otherwise?”
“You heard about that?”
“Whole tower at this point.”
“I feel like this is karma for being a journalist,” you two share a laugh, taking a deep breath, you confess, “when I ran into her at the mall, she had told me to tell her that I hate her, if I told her that, she would leave me alone, when I told her I hate her, I didn’t mean it in a spiteful way, I meant it in a I don’t want to be a burden to you way, because I knew she would stop at nothing to hurt whoever did this to me, I couldn’t let her get hurt on behalf of me, get hurt in general.”
Viv and Bruce heard all of that through the door so when they walk in, Viv couldn’t help but make a remark, “aw, you do care about her.”
Your face lights up at the sight of your friends, “unfortunately,” you joke.
“How’re ya doing kid?” Bruce speaks first, which surprises everyone in the room.
“I’m doing better, you?”
“I’m not the one who got hurt.”
“Not physically.” Your statement makes Bruce bow his head down a bit, confirming your words to be true.
“I’ll be okay.” He smiles.
“Viv?”
“I’ll be okay too, I’m just glad you’re doing better.” She walks up to you and gives you a tight squeeze.
“OH!” You remember that there was a high possibility Sol and the other two have never met before, “this is Sol, my everything.” Sol smiles and holds your hand.
“Yes, hi, hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Viv sticks out her hand and Sol gracefully accepts.
“Please, pleasure’s all mine, thank you for taking care of her.” Sol giggles at her, “and nice to meet you too, uh?” She turns to Bruce.
Bruce tips his head at her like a mini curtsy, a gentleman he is, “Bruce, ma’am.” Another smile from Sol.
“I don’t mean to interrupt introductions here, but is Jenna around?” You gather up the courage to ask.
“She’s on her way back to the towers.” Viv answers.
“From where?”
“I’ll leave that to her to explain.”
“But let’s not focus on her right now.” Easier said than done. “Jenna is offering you a guest bedroom upstairs to recover in, and trust me, this room may be amazing, but nothing compares to her penthouse.”
“That’s very generous of her, and yeah, whew, her penthouse is something else, she’ll be back soon, right?”
“I’m sure of it.” Viv reassures.
~~
Despite her small stature, Jenna was incredibly strong, evident as she drags a 6ft tall, unconscious man into the elevator as they head towards the dark rooms of the tower, underneath the city, where if Jenna wanted something from an individual, she’d get it.
As they reach the one of the underground levels, the elevator door opens and Jenna is greeted by Viv and Bruce, they wanted to bring a few soldiers, but Jenna insisted this had to be done privately, there was something poetic about her doing this where no one could hear his screams, the same way no one heard yours.
“Here Bruce, take him and tie him down to the chair and wake him up.” Jenna commands, the fury she once welcomed in, back and angrier than ever.
Once Jameson wakes up, his eyes are met with a fiery brown. “Speak.” He laughs at her attempt to be intimidating, “Oh? We’re laughing I see, let’s see if those teeth will still be there when you laugh after I’m done with you.” Jenna balls up her fist and with so much might, punches him in the jaw, knocking him to the side a bit, immediately drawing blood out of his nose and gums.
“That all you got?” He challenges, “I made your little pet scream more.” That was it, that was Jenna’s last straw, no one knows what possessed her, but no one was mad about it, she claw gripped his throat, throwing punches at every part of his face, his blood splattering all over the place, painting Jenna’s white button up, the first 3 buttons now undone from the roughness she delivered.
And with every grin, laugh, snarky remark Jameson displays, Jenna’s punches got harder, one punch being so hard, he falls backwards taking Jenna down with him. Jameson was strong but Jenna was stronger, “Gio was right, y/n does have you wrapped around her finger.”
With one final blow, she nearly renders him unconscious, as she leaps up from him, Jenna mumbles “you don’t get to say her name.”
“Calm down, tiger,” he mutters as the blood pools up in his mouth, spitting it out he continues “she’s not who you think she is, not the angel you see her as.”
Having had enough, she gives him one last hurt, a kick to his ribs, almost promising she broke it as she heard something crack, swiftly followed by a blood curdling scream. “Take him away, deliver him back to Gio but make him crawl his way to him.” With no hesitation, Bruce unties him and drags him away, at Jenna’s side, Viv hands her sanitizing products to clean the blood off her hands, “go, y/n needs you, I can clean this up.” Like Bruce, Jenna leaves with no hesitation, she was a full-blown storm and she needed you to calm her waters down.
~~
Though it was nearly 3am, you had no interest in sleep, instead, you were lost in the silence of the penthouse, being so high up the business of the streets beneath you could not be heard. You thought about the last time you were here, the only time you had been here, before tonight, maybe you were a bit harsh, maybe she deserved it.
As you think about what might’ve happened if you didn’t reject Jenna’s advances, the silence around you allows you to hear an elevator coming up, hopping up quickly, to the best of your ability, you breathe through the stinging pain from your healing body and head out.
“Jenna?” You see a beaten-up Jenna staring at you, fresh from the elevator, only making a couple steps into her penthouse. Though she looked beaten up, the undone buttons, blood splatter all over her shirt, untuck and ruffled up, you knew she wasn’t the one who took the pain, rather, she was the one who gave it. “Jenna?” You say again, hoping this time, your voice would knock her out of her dissociative trance.
“Y/n.” Was all she could mutter out.
You walk closer to her, being inches away from her face, body warmth radiating, your hearts in sync once more, you get déjà vu as this replicates the first night you met her, something about her brown eyes gazing into your soul, as if she were reading every atom in you to know you. “Y/n.” Jenna jolts awake, “I’m sorry, you shouldn’t see me like this.” But before she could turn and leave, you grab her wrist stopping her.
“Stay with me, I don’t want you to leave.”
She slowly grazes her face to yours, her eyes now closed and so are yours, both noses hug each other like a puzzle piece, the speed of your heart now rising to a point you swear it was going to electrocute the both of you from all that static rush, but what Jenna says next would stop your heart.
“Kiss me.”

I'm beginning to believe the 'Lilith told Alastor to go to the hotel' theory, so here are my ever-so-important-you-can't-live-without-needed thoughts on it.
Spoilers I think?
Okay uh- I don't buy into a lot of the stuff people say about it, but I do think she's the one who owns his soul. The 7 year disappearance is a bit specific to point out if it meant nothing.
SO! First thing, her intentions with sending him to the hotel. It could have been three things. To get him to screw it over (which I don't believe since he hasn't done anything to accomplish that), to ensure it succeeds (which I also doubt because although he's apparently been helpful, he hasn't done anything to actively help with the redemption stuff), or to protect Charlie (which I think is the most likely. Lilith can't be there for her daughter because she's busy with something.
Which leads me to point two, the reason the deal was made. We don't know for sure why it happened, but I heavily doubt Alastor could be tricked into making a deal, and (please correct me if I'm wrong) I'm pretty sure Viv mentioned somewhere that he wasn't really interested in power. This leads me to believe that he HAD to. As for what put him in such a vulnerable position, I have no idea. Maybe he got an angelic stabbing during his last fight with Vox or smth and agreed to give her his soul in exchange for help? Who knows. Anyway, I'm still completely clueless on the 7 year absense. What was bro doing?
Anyway, point three! I don't believe the deal would have been made upon Alastor's arrival to hell. No one knew or cared who he was until the radio broadcasts, there'd be no reason for Lilith to bother with him, and again, I doubt he'd be stupid enough to sell his soul unless he had to. So the deal was likely made AFTER his rise to power. I'm also inclined to believe it happened during the his 7 year absense somewhere. I don't have evidence for this I just think it makes sense.
So Alastor spawned, killed a bunch of powerful overloads, got into some sort of situation (likely one that would end his not-life), and was forced to make a deal with Lilith. From there we don't know but at the end of the 7 year poofing, Lilith begins getting voice messages of Charlie's plan with the hotel, and sends Alastor over (I don't think she sent him RIGHT after her last voicemail. It was just a bit too quick). He sees her on the picture box and figured he might as well see what she's doing if he's gonna have to put up with her.
And that's why he's there! Yay! Theories! None of this is actively confirmed, but my thoughts on it.
And now I'm gonna ramble about their dynamic because I'm an annoying nerd.
So this here. The scene from the pilot when he looks at the family portrait,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's subtle but he does that narrow his eyes and bigger smile thing a number times for a number of reasons, but I don't think this one is hatred. In the comic with Vox, all it took was seeing his face on a screen and he started mumbling insults down the street until he got distracted by something else. And this does matter because if he wasn't on decent terms with Lilith, he'd probably hate her more just because of the soul thing. Now I know he hates the fact that she owns his soul (if I'm correct), but that doesn't mean he'd have to hate her.
Even if this wasn't much proof, he doesn't go into the hotel with any resentment towards Charlie. He already decided he hated Lucifer when they met but Charlie was fine. I also think he was interested in the entertainment as a side thing, since he'd have to make this tolerable somehow (and give himself some sense of control over what he's doing), hence why he insisted on helping rather than just watching. He doesn't glare at Charlie (and in referring to the pilot since that's where to met) and in fact seems to be alright with her. Given his habit of throwing Vaggie (leave her alone bro TmT) when he didn't even know her, I believe if he was on bad terms with Lilith, he would be trying to screw with Charlie in any way that doesn't put her at risk.
I'm guessing he was on decent terms with Lilith dispite it all, it was mentioned that he gets along with women better, and his interactions with Lucifer only solidify this with me.
Look, I love dad Alastor, but 1, they didn't have enough episodes to actually explore this and 2, even if he cared even the slightest bit for Charlie at this point (which I want to believe), that song was heavily exaggerating their relationship entirely to piss off her dad.
So Lucifer shows up and Al immediately tries to kill him through glaring. It's possible his own dad was crappy so he projected a bit on Lucifer, or that he just didn't like crappy parents, but I think it was because his absense was likely spend with Lilith, who Charlie confirmed had split up with her dad before her disappearance, and probably wasn't very happy with him, giving Al a bad impression before they even met.
And now for Mimzy. I love all of Alastor's friends, he's so good at finding them. Anyway, she shows up and although Alastor already knows what that means, he let's her. I think he knew she was going to bring people for him to kill and he was already in a bad mood so he needed someone to take that out on. However, when he saw the damage to the hotel, he realized he couldn't do that because it put Charlie in danger (now I don't know if this had anything to do with him actually caring at all, because if he'd get punished if Charlie was killed, there'd be no wonder as to why he sent her away even if he personally didn't care).
Then there's his random disappearances throughout the show. Mimzy said he hasn't 'done any if that in a while', in reference to killing people and broadcasting their screams, so although he's active again, he still isn't killing people quite yet. Despite this, there have been two episodes now where he was quite literally nowhere to be seen, with no indication of where he went. I'm guessing he has to go chat with Lilith every now and then to catch her up on what's going on in the hotel and with her daughter.
Also I couldn't find anywhere to fit this, but I'm guessing Lilith sent him over because she figured the hotel would attract terrible people and knew Charlie doesn't fight, so why not send the screams broadcasting radio demon over? No one fucks with him so why not?
So TLDR; Alastor became powerful boi in hell, got screwed over and had to make a deal with Lilith, she heard her daughter was running a hotel that would attract crappy people and sent him over to protect her. He randomly disappears to tell update her on what's going on. They're on decent terms but he hates the fact that she owns his soul.
