Hi! Love letters are open now and I realised Dionysus doesn't have one yet, if possible could you write one from him? Thank you! đ
Dear (Y/N),
In the vines of your eyes I find the sweetest fermentation, the divine intoxication that makes me lose myself in ecstasy. Like a passionate winemaker, I taste every trace of your essence, diving into the depths of your being like someone tasting heavenly nectar. As a god of wine and feasting, I am used to being worshiped, but you awaken in me a deeper desire, an insatiable need to have you all to myself.
Oh, how your beauty is like a field of ripe grapes in the sunlight, exuding a divine aroma that intoxicates my soul. Your every gesture is like a sacred dance, every word like a celestial melody that touches the deepest corners of my being.
In your embrace, I find the ecstasy that only the gods can know. Your kisses are like the nectar of the gods, flooding me with a sweetness that transcends the limits of mortality. Your presence is my source of inspiration, my reason to celebrate life in all its fullness.
I promise you lust and devotion, intense emotions that only a god like me can offer. But I also warn you, my beloved, that I will never share you. I will not tolerate challenges to our union. If necessary, I will do everything possible to keep you by my side, even if it means resorting to madness. You have been mine since the moment our eyes met.
My love for you is as vast as the oceans, as eternal as the starry sky. May this letter express just a fraction of what I feel for you, as words cannot capture the magnitude of the love that burns in my chest.
May our journeys intertwine like vines in a vineyard, growing together in harmony and fertility. May each sip of wine be a toast to our love, each laugh a symphony of shared joy. So accept my love, my control, my protection. Be mine and mine alone, and I will lift you to the heavens, give you pleasure beyond the limits of mortality.
With devotion and eternal desire,
Dionysus.

Hey katerinaaqu,
I was wondering if you might know something about apotheosis/deification of mortals in greek mythology. Specifically how it was decided what domain they would become a god of. From what I've gathered it seems like actions in their mortal lives tends to lead to what their domains in divinity is.
Thanks for any help/info you can provide!
Oh that is a very good question. I believe there are indeed plenty of examples in greek mythology of Apotheosis.
Arguably the first one is Dionysus himself. Given how Dionysus is born out of a mortal mother (Semele) and an Olympian god (Zeus). According to Orphic traditions, Dionysus was probably set for divinity since he was born once more as Zagreus before dying and being reincarnated through Semele. It seems like he would prbably be another demigod like Heracles if it weren't for Zeus to finish the pregnancy himself by sewing him into his hip so in a way he got extra divine essence from Zeus. After that he experienced the persecution of Hera and madness induced by her before earning his place as a god among the Olympians
Ever since Dionysus we do see other examples of humans turning into gods. There also seems to be a difference between an Apotheosis and a worship of a hero. For example Heracles was known to become a god after death but not others like Achilles at least in Homer it is not implied that Achilles becomes a god and yet along with Patroclus and Antilochus he is given offerings to his tomb, worshipped more as a hero rather than as a god.
So what is the factor that makes a mortal a god? Well there are many. It could be the mortal's connection to a god as a parent (see Dionysus, Heracles etc) or marriage (Ariadne and Dionysus) or other reations (Dionysus reviving Semele and giving her immortality). For others it seems like it has to do with their heroic deeds on earth. For example we have Heracles who arguably became the greatest hero of Greek mythology or Diomedes who spread Greek culture to Italy by founding plenty of cities. It could also be linked to a mortal have some sort of attribute that is considered sacred or divine in the first place. A good example is Ganymedes who was having the attribute of beauty and youth that are on their own divine properties, thus leading Zeus take interest in him and thus offering him immortality and making him his cup brearer.
Now when it comes to Dionysus for example yes his attributes seem to be reflecting his life. He was the god of rebirth and regeneration of nature (due to his Orphic tradition of dying as Zagreus and coming back to life) or god of madness since he was induced to madness himself. Now for the culivation of vine and winemaking of course depending on the myths involving him like the beautiful satyr, Ampelus could be an indicator. Also the vine is a plant that comes out during late summer and early autumn which again is linked to the regeneration of nature. Also the wine-making as coming from the crushing of grapes and passage of time for alcohol to froment also rings to me the bell of Dionysus's story of regeneration (almost the opposite of Persephone who comes out of the Underworld with Spring, Dionysus is celebrated a lot in winter (see his celebration of Dionysia in December), symbolizing the constant mystery of nature. With his connection to nature seems to be also reflecting his madness and his several roaming about the world in a mad and disoriented state thus he is also considered god of wilderness and several of his followers are satyrs and Maenades, reflecting his roaming and primitive state at that time. The induced madness and alcoholic beverange association and in his life also links to his attributes of divine ecstasy, disoriantation, confusion and daresay savagery. He was also linked to prophetic powers on occasion since he is also known for coming and going from the Hyperborean lands due to his trips in mythology and taking over from Apollo to the sanctuary of Delphi thus sharing the sanctuary. Consequently to that of course and with the above he is also linked to theater; while roaming in the wild he was not himself the same much as the sacred nature of theater is also linking him to rituals and offerings. A sample of theater is the full masks and costumes, which resembles a lot ancient rituals in which masks or even skulls are involved to cover one's face and linked to dancing, singing, unifying of masses etc. Arguably some of the dionysian celebrations of that kind are some of the most ancient known celebrations in Greece and certain festivals even nowadays are said to have the roots to them. All in all he is linked a lot to thinks that have to do with humanity and that is probably because he comes from it himself.
So, having in mind examples such as Dionysus whenever a mortal turns into a god might or might not get an attribute but I believe most of time their attribute or fields are determined by their life story or their mythology. They are also heavily inspired by local traditions in regards to the hero (for example if they are worshipped as city-protector, as protector of youths etc) so it depends on what kind of mythology they have behind. On the occasions we discover offerings or hymns attributed to the deified mortal we can also make assumption on their worship. Oftentimes a sanctuary is also linked to a hero's death or life stops. One example that comes to my mind is a series of mentions to the sanctuary of Protesilaus, the man that stepped first in Troy and losing his life first. The sanctuary is placed in several places according to the sources and they seem to memorize the hero's courage in battle.
So yes it seems that by n large their mortal lives or local myths do determine their domains and attributes. I hope the examples help a bit. I will be happy to dig deeper if you want.

1d8 Holiday Celebrations and Rituals
The Feast of Saint Rakhbar, a feast day for a half-orc martyr at which volunteers are stripped down, oiled, and publicly flagellated to absolve the community of its sins. Locals insist it's not a kink thing. No one is quite sure what else it could be. The feast day also features footraces, incense mixing, and a whole roast aurochs.
Hellebore Night, a celebration of life taking place in spring the first evening after hellebore flowers bloom in the graveyards. During this time, celebrants take the name of a deceased loved one and make up their face and clothing to resemble a risen zombie. In some regions, the celebration lasts an entire week, although the costume is usually only worn at night.
HurdyFest, an annual three-day hurdy-gurdy music festival. It started off as a very indie event but itâs gotten really corporate in the last few years. Itâs still popular with bards who are trying to garner fame, but most who try realize theyâre being completely drowned out by some of the biggest names in the hurdy-gurdy business.
Libration, a holiday that hybridizes winemaking with prison abolition. It is celebrated on the anniversary of a riot that destroyed a massive penitentiary and liberated thousands of starved prisoners, but it also happens to line up with the season for crushing grapes for wine, so over the years the two events have merged into one decadent, hedonistic festival.
Remembrance Day, a national holiday recently established in memorial to a particularly successful military general, several generations ago, of whom the current monarch is a special fan but nobody else really cares about his historical importance. It features pyrotechnics and prestidigitation effects to simulate war, sort of generically, and cakes iced to look like a generic elven man since no one really knows what this general looked like.
Starstoneâs Eve and Starstone, a celebration that occurs the night of, and the day after, a particularly impressive meteor shower each year in midsummer. On Starstoneâs Eve, spectators stay up until the wee hours of the morning to watch the beautiful display. Starstone itself is considered a day of rest for most after the nightâs festivities. However, for metalworkers, it is often a day of hard work tracking down bits of cooling meteorite to use as materials for their craft.
Harvestmanâs Toll, a ritual day that occurs at the start of a period of prescribed burning, usually after a harvest or before planting season. Throughout the day, the people clear strips of land to act as a firebreak and meditate on their status as stewards of the land and sustainers of the community. To kick off the burn, celebrants dance and sing unaccompanied on the chaff left behind in their fields, scattering reserved seeds with wild abandon. Only after the dancing has ceased and the fields are empty do the celebrants ignite the burn.
A nameless tradition practiced on the day of the first hard freeze, on which all other activities cease in favor of preparing The Soup. The Soup is a recipe that varies from family to family, but generally involves a very large cauldron, a lot of water, and the addition of any ingredient that wonât last until spring or which feels weather-appropriate. The Soup is eaten by the household, shared with visitors, and eventually foisted on passersby when the household gets sick of eating it. Fortunately, you can always visit a friendâs house to have a different variety of The Soup.

I think Enid and Wednesday should own a little farm with animals and fruits and veggies, and Wednesday should sit in side writing and openly staring at her beefy wife working hard labor
I just think that should happen
Okay but like
I think Enid deserves to be a simple farmer and wakes up suddenly with the memory that she has a wife
Except, that doesn't make sense because Enid has been single for ages
But, she has a wife and her name is Wednesday
She remembers meeting her when she first bought the farm, how the two of them built the barn houses and spent time growing the crops throughout the years
Except, Enid knows that she did it alone. The farm was abandoned when she first came here, no lady named Wednesday in sight
But, Wednesday is sitting in the table and there's food. The shorter girl's head is tilted and she says good morning, acting like she totally was supposed to be here
Which makes no sense but enid goes with it because in a world like hers, things are just weird
Then when she bites in the food, her throat gags when she registers the taste of blood
When Enid spits it out, she's staring at normal cooked meat.
"is something wrong with the food?" her wife will say and Enid gives a careful smile, ignoring how her mind screams that something is wrong. She doesn't have a wife, she never had a wife-
"No, I think I just bit my tongue," Enid says, sticking said organ out for a moment.
Wednesday shakes her head, a huff escaping her lips as she too digs in.
She's beautiful.
Enid remembers a book she snatched a couple years ago, noting of that one excerpt in animals.
The more vivid, memorable, beautiful- the more dangerous it says and Enid very much agrees now.
When Enid meets up with yoko in town a few weeks later, the farmer will be pulled close.
"I don't have a wife named Divina," the glasses wearing winemaker says. "I didn't enid-" and she nearly chokes on a sob when Enid brings her into a hug.
Because yoko too didn't have a wife but enid remembers that she does? A nun of somesort, a supposed missionary who came to spread the word of God before settling down with yoko. Enid remembers celebrating the wedding with Wednesday.
This is confusing, this whole thing has her head aching but this was a reminder that she wasn't alone
"we didn't have wives," Enid murmurs, ignoring how something prickles in her back. "but we do now, okay? Is she treating you alright?"
There are crows flying ahead and Yoko's grip tightens when a hummingbird zaps around nearby.
"she's the best," yoko says. "but she isnt- this isn't normal."
Enid can't say anything but hold her back.
Or
Enid now lives in a world a bit too off from before. She has a wife apparently and when she picks up a carrot, she'll stare at the peeled tendons dripping onto the ground below and drop it with shaky breaths.
She closes her eyes then she picks it up again.
She's holding a carrot

**Generation 1** The Resilient Vintner
In the shadows of high school hallways, you were a wallflower with dreams as vibrant as the grapes that would one day fill your winery. The quiet corridors couldn't contain your aspirations, nor could they mask the spark within. A nice boy, a rarity in your world of introverted thoughts, shattered your timid facade, and together you danced through the corridors of your dreams.
Life spun its web, and as young adults, a surprise awaited in the form of impending parenthood. Two heartbeats echoed in your third trimester, a symphony of life that harmonized with your fears and hopes. But then, like a cruel twist of fate, the same boy who had chipped away your shyness disappeared, leaving you heartbroken and resolute.
Determination carved its path through your life like vines in a well-tended garden. You donned the role of both gardener and parent, nurturing both flora and fledgling hearts. Your hands learned the craft of winemaking, turning grapes into bottled poetry. With few friends, you showered your twins with all the love life could muster, becoming both their guardian and guiding star.

**Generation 2**The Bartender's Sanctuary
In the shadow of a single mother's devotion, you and your twin were raised. But as your sibling basked in maternal admiration, you found solace in the independence born from abandonment. Academia was a breeze you barely entertained, for you knew you held an unspoken ticket to leniency. Graduation opened a door into the world of cocktails, a bartender's stage where you mixed spirits and stories, all while never leaving the refuge of your childhood haven.
Mixology became your symphony, crafting concoctions that spoke volumes in each glass. Charisma oiled the gears of social interaction, while video gaming and comedy painted your private world with laughter. Romantic dalliances played like fleeting melodies, each a brief verse before the chorus of commitment. And as the years unfolded, you embraced marriage and parenthood, your own family story beginning within the walls that sheltered your formative years.

The pulse of music coursed through your veins, setting your heart ablaze. From childhood, you were drawn to the siren call of melodies, a passion that flourished into an early graduation and an unswerving march into the arms of a musician's destiny. As an independent composer, the spotlight danced upon your creations, but it was a hit song that thrust you fully into its radiant embrace. An agent's proposition introduced you to a world of artificial romance, but destiny had other plans.
In a whirlwind of notes and heartbeats, careers and affections intertwined. Love bloomed like a wildflower in Del Sol Valley's fast lane, and soon your family mirrored the crescendo of your professional success. Your children would someday hear your music and know the rhythm of love that had brought them into the world.

The camera's eye adored you, and the silver screen beckoned, a realm where you aimed to eclipse the legendary Judith Ward herself.
With the world as your stage, you carved your own narrative, masterfully delivering lines that echoed across generations. But amid the applause, the applause that never seemed to wane, love remained an elusive muse. The script of your life took an unexpected twistâan autonomous child conceived in a laboratory of scientific wonder. Yet, parenting was a role you played only in name, leaving the care of your creation to others while you reveled in the indulgences fame offered.

Escaping the glare of Del Sol Valley's spotlight, you took flight to a new life, shedding the name that was once synonymous with stardom. In a tranquil town, you forged a life as a teacher, and love blossomed in the form of a local soul.
The bonds you nurtured were ones unshackled by fame's chains, each affectionate gesture a testament to your commitment to create a family in the purity of love, devoid of the opulence that once enshrouded you. Three men on horseback participate in the Perchtoldsdorfer HĂŒtereinzug (Perchtoldsdorf Vineyard Guardsâ Procession), not dated (1950s?). In the background is Perchtoldsdorf's medieval fortified church, Pfarrkirche hl. Augustinus.
In early November, Perchtoldsdorf (Mödling, Niederösterreich) celebrates their "HĂŒtereinzug" â originally a procession of vineyard guards, tasked with protecting grapes from animals and thieves. The job has grown obsolete but the procession continues to exist, now recognized by UNESCO as a piece of intangible cultural heritage, and the men who participate are now mainly sons of winemakers and vineyard owners.

It's Christmas Eve, so here's my take on the holidays at the Varia:
It is a week long (24-31) celebration that starts with a feast where everyone contributes with their traditional dishes. People in the Varia come from all over the world, and usually there is a team-up of people from the same places gathering to cook togheter, no matter the units they are assigned to.
And I HC Lussuria as being from Emilia-Romagna, where tortellini in brodo are a must.
She forces has the other guardians helping her in making them from scratch.
The process lasts basically the entire Eve:
Lussuria does the filling and broth alone ("Oh honeys, I can't have you possibly screw that up!!") and makes pasta dough with the help of squalo.
Levi and Squalo make the pasta sheets. Levi only turns the crank of the machine ("VOOII!! You're not touching any food, with those dirty hands"), while Squalo minds the pasta. Lussuria is forever sad that she cannot make the pasta sheet herself with only the rolling pin, the traditional way. Unfortunately the dough is way too much and she's not as skilled as her mother was.
Lastly, Bel (and later Fran too) make the actual tortellini (under strict supervision). They are the ones with the smaller hands, after all.
Lastly, Xanxus does actually nothing for the tortellini, but he does buy the wine for everyone for the entire celebration. Crlebration which does last a week and requires enormous amounts of alcohol to keep 100+ people drunk and entertained. This means that not only it takes like 3 months to organise all the purchases and shipping of booze, but also that there are around Italy at least 4 winemakers that rely on Xanxus and the Varia to survive and sell Ÿ of their yearly production in one go.
Also, since Xanxus has become is the best boss they can all ask for, he prepares the first drink for anyone that asks during the Eve's aperitivo. He's actually a very good bartender.
The party goes on for one week straight, with basically everyone drunk out of their minds. The most memorable things that happen are usually actually completely forgotten, at most only some photos survive.
Usually there is also at least one dead, but no one ever minds it too much. They probably deserved it.
Then the new year begins with the hard task of sobering up. The hangover officially lasts until Befana.
Many swear not to drink ever again ever in their life, only to do the exact same the next year.

Tatsu's agent ^^
His name is Richard "Dash" Garrison-Locke, but almost nobody calls him Richard. In fact, a lot of people don't even know his legal first name is Richard. He's been Dash ever since he was a little boy; the playful nickname given to a hyperactive preschooler by his dad ended up sticking for life. As for people who do know his real name is Richard, he will only permit them to call him Richard (or preferably Dash) and woe betide anyone who thinks they can get away with calling him Rick, Ricky, Richie or any other of the plethora of common diminutives.
He started off his career as a lawyer. He always wanted to be part of the entertainment industry, so once he had a few years' practice experience, he began to network with people in the industry and to learn all he could about being an agent. Now, he represents actors, musicians and athletes, including actor and model, Tatsuhiro Sakai.
When Dash isn't representing (and babysitting) his celebrity clients, he enjoys spending time at the beach and doing all sorts of water sports, cooking, winemaking and socializing with the ladies.
You know you want him.

Etymology of the Martell and Sandâs Names
Doran, Dorea: Doran is an Irish and Gaelic name that means "fist, stranger, exile." It could also be an invented masculine version of the name Dora, which derivated from the Greek word doron (gift, freely given, without cost). Dorea was probably named after him.
Mellario: her name is an actual Latin adjective derivated from the word mellarius (of honey, related to honey, beekeeper).
Arianne: a variation of Ariana, which itself is a latinized version of the Greek name Ariadne (most holy). In Greek mythology Ariadne was the granddaughter of the sun god Helios, helped Theseus escape the labyrinth by giving him thread and married Dionysus, the god of grape-harvest, winemaking, orchards and fruit, fertility and festivity.
Quentyn: misspelling of Quentin, a French name derivated from the Latin name Quintinus (the fifth).
Trystane: misspelling of Trystan, a Welsh name that derivated from the French word triste (sad, sorrowful).
Elia: probably after the sun god Helios in Greek mythology or a shortening of the Late Latin name AeliÄna, the feminine form of AeliÄnus (of the sun). It could also be a shortening of the Hebrew name Eliana (my God answered me, God answered my prayer) or a misspelling of the Old German name Ellia (other, foreign).
Oberyn, Obara, Obella: Oberyn is probably a misspelling of Oberon, the fairy king from from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare. The name Oberon is derived from the Old High German name Alberich, composed by the words alb (elf) and rih (ruler, king). Obara is probably named after him, unless sheâs named after obara, the Slovene meat and vegetable stew that was usually prepared for celebrations. Same with Obella, unless her name is a misspelling of Abella, which comes from the Hebrew name Abel (breath, vapor).
Ellaria: could be a misspelling of the Hebrew name Elliora (God is my light) or the Old English name Ellerey or Elleree (alder tree).
Nymeria: probably an invented name compounded by the Greek word nymphe (young woman, bride, young wife) and the Greek name Maria, which derivated from the Roman surname Marius and could come from Mars the war god, maris (male) or mare (sea). Maria could also derivate from the Hebrew name Myriam (rebellious) which once was mistranslated to Latin as Maryam (drop of the sea). It could also be a misspelling of the Greek name Nereides (clear, unmistakable, true) which is also the patronymic of fifty sea nymphs that accompany Poseidon, god of the sea, and often help sailors in Greek mythology. It could also be delivered from the Arabic noun nimer (tiger) but I don't think it very likely.
Tyene: could be a misspelling of Tine or Tinah, both variations of Tina, which itself derivated from the shortened version of Latin female names like Bettina (diminutive of Elizabeth (God is my oath, Godâs promise), Christina (follower of Christ), Constantina (constant, steadfast), Martina (follower of Mars) or Valentina (strong, healthy). It could also be a misspelling of thyme or of the Spanish verb tiene (he/she has).
Sarella: probably a misspelling of Sarah, an Hebrew name derived from the word sar (chief, ruler, prince), with the female suffix ella added at the end.
Loreza: either a misspelling of Lorenza or Lorena, both derivated from the Latin surname Laurentius which derivated from the noun laurus (laurel, laurel tree).

Weâve got an early Christmas present for Candace Cameron Bure fans.
TVLine can exclusively reveal the title, premise and first photo from Bureâs annual Great American Family Christmas movie. Premiering in November as part of the networkâs âGreat American Christmasâ slate, A Christmas Less Traveled stars Bure and Eric Johnson (Rookie Blue, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) and centers on a down-on-her-luck proprietor who embarks on a life-changing road trip. The official logline reads as follows:
The Dine and Dash Diner has a stack of mounting unpaid bills, forcing its owner, Desi (Bure), to sell her beloved, mint condition, cherry red 1964 Ford F-100, a gift from her deceased father. As Desi visits the vintage truck one last time, she discovers a recorded message from her dad on an old audio cassette. Desiâs dadâs voice sends her and âOld Redâ out to retrace her familyâs most memorable moments one last time. [META] + alcohol
ăđă In some aspects the cult of Los Iluminados prides itself upon excess. Nothing in their scripture suggests they are to abstain from 'earthly' pleasures, drugs included. We even have evidence that they may partake in smoking tobacco, opium, marijuana or hashish, as the monastery personally own hookahs, also known as shishas or waterpipes. --- Historically, even, monks have been known in the production of winemaking since The Middle Ages for the celebration of mass or for The Catholic liturgy. But, granted the Abrahamic faith adopted PRIOR practices spanning thousands of years from paganism, I'm hardly scratching the surface. There is no reason the cultists of Los Iluminados would be any different, especially as they not only have their own gardens & livestock, they also have a cellar specifically for storage of different types of alcohol. From my own personal knowledge & research, I have noted bottles of wine / champagne, jars for mead, & large kegs for beer.
As the cultists collect crates upon crates of figs & dates ( it is literally everywhere outside of the cellar ) I suspect they are brewing Boukha or Mahia with these fruits, distilled beverages originating from North Africa. Anyone familiar with the cultural / religious inspiration of Los Iluminados should know why this is appropriate. They also brew from blood & ashes, but I'm omitting that for right now as everyone ( should ) know this about The Cult by this point. --- The villagers & aristocracy, on the other hand, purchase(d) large imports of wine from France until they became isolated from the outside world. This was discovered initially by another data-miner, but the specific brand is Grand Vin de Chateau Latour, highly refined & in EXPENSIVE taste.
To emphasize more that drinking is heavily common in their society, it is a caloric supplement to aid in fasting. Darker beers especially have a large number of calories, so for monks who fast during specific periods but are allowed beverages, a high-calorie beer provides them energy & helps them complete their fasting. We know that the monks canonically fast, as some accidentally or purposely die during the process of fasting & become a form of Sokushinbutsu ( Buddhist mummy ).
Outside of regular brewing & drinking, I don't think Osmund has a frequent form of alcoholism like Ricardo Irving, or say, Leon Kennedy. Lord Saddler's coping mechanisms primarily involve heavy meditation & prayer, & he has a much different ideological view upon methods that would constitute as self-harm. To him, in general, alcohol is seen as a very positive thing, he is a relatively responsible drinker, & if he were to become drunk, I don't believe he would act wrathful --- if anything I think it would spiral him into a depressive emotional state or an energetic period of being happily loose, where he can forgo his anachronistic mannerisms & royalties.
#/ the answer is yes they are pretty cool with drinking and drugs#/ they do sell and smuggle drugs on the black market after all lol#ricardo-irving#tw alchohol mention#tw alchoholism#tw alcohol#tw food#tw food mention#tw drinking#<- III // V - [ INQUIRY ] - O N H X ->#<- III // V - [ CHARACTERIZATION INQUIRIES ] - O N H X ->#<- III // V - [ OUT OF CHARACTER ] - O N H X ->#<- III // V - [ HEADCANONS ] - O N H X ->

A Coup.
Saint Riesling, the southern jewel of Honesta, is an anarchist city-state for which has attracted all manner of people from across Wildfall. Founded as a freeport and haven for traders and smugglers alike, Riesling flourished into a glowing port enwrapped by erected palaces and the monolithic Jungle Spires to their east. Those looking to escape prosecution fled to Riesling in mass, making it the infamous, deadly and gorgeous sanctuary it is now known for.
However, in a world filled with political disagreements, no true freedom can last long without someone there to stand and protect it. An Ancient Red Dragon rumored to be older than the Split itself offered themselves to serve as the cities triumphant guard and savior, striking a deal with the founders of Saint Riesling at its inception. The terms of such a agreement have long since been forgotten and many long years have passed since then. Now in the year 1123 PS, Riesling still stands prideful as an icon of debauchery and self expression, resting at the feet of the almost enchanting Lillian Bay; or at least that was the case... it seemed a new conspiracy has been festering beneath its golden sands, one involving its previously celebrated, brutal, protector.
A Coup brewed. Kaemen, the cities protector, and a collection of the most dissatisfied Primus Pura (Rieslings economic elite) schemed a forceful take over of the city, utilizing their personal militaries, better known as Dune Oasi's, as pawns to maneuver civilians into a more agreeable position. Their goal? to utilizes the otherwise wasted potential of free peoples, and establish a new political players on the worlds stage by establishing Kaemen as Riesling's newly introduced Emperor, not just its protector. What followed was the bloodiest weeks in Contemporary Riesling history, being brought finally to an end by the public execution of its draconic figurehead by his very own Son and Daughter.
This is. The Riesling Coup.
Our Conspirators
Kaemen, The Shaking Dune.
Rumored ancient, Kaemen has stood proud at the foot Riesling for decades, walking amongst its people and celebrated both as its elegantly destructive protector and impossible to read Politian. For years, his life remained elusive, appearing only in a blaze of fire to eradicate those that wish to do Riesling harm, sundering ships in the bay and devouring intruding dignitaries whole. For Kaemen, this satisfied him for a time, the veneer of pride and celebration he got for such an action was enough to satiate his hunger for power. But he realized soon that what he craved was not that of power, wealth or fear as all of those wither with time; Instead he wanted legacy, a social hoard that would never fade with time. And so, he entered into a secret affair with a Winemaker, Theadora Trisdove, harboring a child with her that he believed could act as his heir. Due to his lack of presence in the relationship, the child grew up raised exclusively by his mother. And when Kaemen returned years later to "collect," he was disgusted by the man that boy had become, leaving Theadora and her child destitute and without name in the dunes outside Riesling. In the years the followed, he ignored this "failed attempt at producing a prince," entering into countless affairs that each failed to produce any other heir; Or at least that was until he met another member of the Primus Pura that seemed to share in his want to create a legacy for Riesling... The singer and songwriter, June Siren.
June "Siren" Marchessi
The upper crust life of the Primus Pura cannot be compared to the lives of those that live in the midst of Riesling proper. Born to the palace-bound family of the Marchessis', June soon felt as though the stuffy world they lived in suffocated her potential. Leading her to running away from her parents palace and living amongst the majority of the city at a very young age. Without money or support, she turned to pit fighting, a beloved pastime of Riesling to make any sort of life for herself; suffering every possible form of abuse in the process by Rieslings criminal world. The aggressors suffering no consequence given the cities lack of any governance or laws. She began to see the freedom of Riesling to be arguably more suffocating than that of her old home, the people using the freedom to justify their devolution into horrific behaviors. As time grew and June adjusted to her life on the streets, news flashed through the city. The Marchessis' had been suffering some disease, which had left them bed ridden; and shortly thereafter, all dead. June, being the sole rightful heir to their families fortune took the opportunity to flee the streets of Riesling and return back to a place of luxury, inheriting the family's Cerulean palace and endless collection of resources. With a cushion behind her she fell into her artistic loves, and began to master musical skills, preferring string instruments, particularly guitar and violin, over much else. She brought her spry fighting movements into the performances, adding a layer of enchanting flow to incredibly skillful music. June took the stage name "The Siren" and not long later changed it to "Mrs. June Siren" attempting to distance herself from the Marchessi name. She used her popularity to her advantage, getting close to other Primus Pura inorder to ask favors and gain particular influence, though she never learned to fully trust them, instead building collection of blackmail incase they ever turned against her. This is what drew Kaemen to her... she mistrusted the Riesling that grew comfortable in their freedoms, to the point she was willing to take them all away if that meant the debauchery would stop. Kaemen and June entered into a affair, that soon created a child together. Delilah Marchessi, raised from then on to be a Princess to a empire yet to be.
Xereve Bolin and Ambrose Baron
Two of the more powerful members of the Primus Pura, willing to offer any economic or militaristic aid to the mounting conspiracy. Xereve Bolin, owner of the Emeraldian Shipping Company was happy to install restrictive shipping and import laws if that meant their company would become then a monopoly over the new Empire. Ambrose Baron, privateer and lord of multiple Armadas over the Tabaxi Isles and Lillian Bay was offered the position of Master of Commerce, able to introduce taxation laws and the corrupt seizing of shipments coming into Riesling at a moments notice, further bolstering his growing influence and coffers. While they were surely not the only members of the Primus Pura to aid in the Coup, they were one of the only to do so willingly; many of the others had their hand forced via the blackmail June leveraged over their heads.
Amir Lawrencia
In a city of lawlessness, every company, every merchant, every smuggler needs a middle man, able to keep the consequences real if a deal goes wrong. The Lawrencias' have served as such a middle man for centuries, being one of the original Riesling families. Since the inception of Riesling, the Lawrencias have been documenting all information moving in and through the cities, anarchist archivists of the shady deals through the cities. A nation will always have its dissenters, but that will only grow if the true history of said nation is revealed, and so the Lawrencia family was asked to join peacefully into their cause; as if not, their palace would surely burn. Amir, the figurehead of the family at this time, agreed to the deal. The Lawrencias would burn and destroy any record of Kaemen's shortfalls and/or past dealings, as well as Junes blackmail. Cleaning the record of what would surely be a bloody rise of an Empire.
This is however, only one side of the Coup... In time we will look to the opposition. Those that were targeted by the Conspirators as they were the only ones willing to stand in their way.
