even the closing paragraph 💀
"Xenophon was a deeply religious man. Hence his concern with the depiction of virtue. But all this kept him from becoming a historian.
With the bland confidence in his memory and in the unimportance of exact truth, he wrote his memoirs. [...] The last words of revenues were perhaps the last words he wrote. 'For, if things are done under the guidance of God it is to be expected that our doings will ever prosper."
He was fortunate to die before Philip of Macedon could shake his confidence."
this introduction to xenophon's hellenica is like.... don't forget that he's a old man who loves to lie and lie by omission. he's not even a real historian. it should be called the memoirs of xenophon. he did no historical research and he can't measure up to thucydides. he loves gossip. sometimes he highlights things simply because he wants to draw moral lessons from them even though they're not historically significant. do not under any circumstances trust this man.

Did you know there are Guardians of the Galaxy novels? Well, there are actually a few!
Here's a brief review / breakdown of the gotg books in my collection. (Not including children's books, retellings of the movies or books that aren't novels.) I love them all and would recommend any of them.
And if there are more out there, I will find them and add them to this list.
The Pirate Angel, The Talking Tree, and Captain Rabbit.
Written by Steve Behling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A book read from teen Groot's point of view, for the most part, taking place during the flight to Nidavellir with Thor, (during Avengers Infinity War.) It focuses on the dynamic between Thor, Rocket and Groot, while Groot sneakily reads Rocket's journal. Through the journal we get to see Rocket go on missions with the original Groot, with Rhomann Dey and with the Guardians. We see him being the badass he is but also get plenty of insight into Rockets thoughts.
It also includes a short epilogue from Rocket's point of view during the battle of Wakanda.
It's fun and it's humorous with a couple of emotional beats, and an overall enjoyable read which acts as an interlude between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
This one is aimed at a younger audience (teens I suspect) but I still found it enjoyable.
206 pages, although it would be less if the font wasn't so large.
Marvel Wastelanders: Star-Lord.
Written by Sarah Cawkwell and adapted from the scripted podcast by Benjamin Percy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is a novelization of the audio drama 'Marvel Wastelanders', (which I recommend listening to if you haven't.) It's based on the Marvel Wastelanders comics but is an original take on the stories. Includes many comic book characters and comic references but can be read/listened to without prior knowledge of the comics.
It features an old man Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon as they fight to save Earth from Doctor Doom's takeover. The story is told as a recount of events from a Rigellian Recorder whom they team up with along the way. Rocket and Star-Lord bicker like an old married couple and it's great. It's a good read, and has an interesting plot with a lot of fun characters. However it does have a tragic ending that the story never hid it was always leading up to. It's bittersweet. You might cry, but it's worth the tears.
The voice acting during these emotional scenes in the audio drama makes it worth listening to over reading but both options are good. Personally, I read the book first and then listened to the audio drama on Spotify. Sidenote, the characters in this are not voiced by their movie counterparts.
348 pages of the book, or 10 episodes around half an hour long each of the Star-Lord centric story of the audio drama.
Guardians of the Galaxy: No Guts, No Glory.
Written by M. K. England.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is an official prequel to the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy video game, (which is an incredible game that takes aspects from both the comics and movies.) Like the game, it's read from Peter Quill's perspective.
It switches between the 'present day' which is a time where the Guardians are only newly formed and struggling as a group, and 12 years before that during the Galactic War where Peter is a young ravager first meeting Nova officer Ko-Rel on Mercury as they battle a Chitauri invasion.
I really enjoyed this book. It's funny, heartwarming and action packed, and embodies the characters very well. I'd recommend it to any fans of the video game. It gives us a great preview of the relationship that Peter and Ko-Rel formed, and on the early dynamic of the Guardians.
If you haven't played the game yet, I highly recommend doing so and then going right ahead and giving this a read. Although in saying that, it'll still make sense if you read it without playing the game prior, it'll just make the experience more enjoyable if you have already played the game.
307 pages.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Collect Them All.
Written by Corinne Duyvis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This novel is based on the comic versions of the Guardians.
The point of view jumps around between all members of the Guardians, so you get an insight on each of them throughout the story.
In this novel the Guardians embark on a quest to save Groot by collecting all the pieces that have splintered off him and scattered around the galaxy.
Gamora has her own significant arc in this story.
Another solid Guardians tale.
383 pages.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket Raccoon and Groot Steal The Galaxy.
Written by Dan Abnett.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This novel is also based off of the Guardians of the Galaxy comic versions of the characters and was actually written by comic writer Dan Abnett who has written numerous Guardians of the Galaxy comics, along with many other notable comics.
In this novel, Rocket and Groot find themselves teaming up with a Rigellian Recorder on a quest to save the Galaxy. Gamora also pops in for a bit.
The book is read from the point of view of 'Recorder-Dude' as Rocket calls him, with a few interludes read from the pov of other characters.
This book was quite enjoyable. Would read again.
359 pages.
Apologies that the last two weren't as detailed as the other reviews, it's been a while since I've read them. Will have to give them a re-read and edit.

why is half of shiftok cancelling Peter Cawkwell? 💀 I read through his arguments against all the allegations put on him and frankly I agree with him, if we talk about the r slur scandal it did start when the other guy started berating him and his wife and used the slur, he simply retaliated which might seem to be bad and offensive here but tell me, why is it that you expect a 291 year old shifter to know the implication of using the r slur in this reality? 💀 Sure it took him some time to understand the gravity of the situation but he did learn and for people to keep going back to that and be like "but he's an abliest 🥺" is just stupid, if you argue that he should know why the r slur shouldn't be used here since his cr self is from here and would understand the way of this world, then I ask you why do you think that he hails from a place where every person is aware of the fact that the r word is a slur and has consequences for usage????? Pretty sure half of the world isn't aware of that???? And then there are people who mock him by saying he pretends to be the shifting Jesus, homophobic, transphobic and what not, I'm not his follower but a fellow ancient shifter who knows of him from a different world and I find it very foolish and stupid how some of these people are rejecting him and his knowledge because of some things which are specific to this reality and aren't even as bad as they draw em out to be.
Also it's funny how the person who initially used the r slur in that specific conversation with Peter didn't get shit for it but here you are berating the man who helped over a thousand people shift successfully, clutching tightly to the itty bitty things you found to hold against him and trying to get rid of him for how much he challenges your sense of authority and your way of being and existing (only in your mind cause I can tell you that man does not care for sure)

While I remain persistent in the assumptions I make in my daily life, my mind thinks that this requires a habit and process, but the assumptions we make while we are asleep are realized at that moment, they occur in the quantum field, like the state of space. situation or astral projection like shifting gears. There is no need for any process, no need for any habit, no need for shadow work, assumptions made while asleep are realized in the moment. Do we exist somewhere else during sleep or hypnosis? Are we in another dimension? Has a curtain been lifted? I guess the answer to this is What has been lifted is the perception of the physical plane. Without it, there is no resistance between the physical in where the assumptions are still not manifested and the assumptions. So can we say that there is no need to practice or be aware of nonduality? BECAUSE THEY ACHIEVED THE SHIFTING BEFORE ANYONE IN THE SOCIETY WAS AWARE OF THIS INFORMATION. PETER CAWKWELL, FOR EXAMPLE, MY FAVORITE OR BEST FRIEND DID THIS.Then can we say that the main event is assumption? It may even be assuming nonduality.
I apologize in advance; this question must have been in my inbox for a while. I have been irregularly active here, so I’m sorry for only answering your question now.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure what your exact question is? I feel like you are mixing up many concepts, and because of that, you’ve lost focus on the simple, big message or context behind all these 'hints' (= concepts).

" So can we say that there is no need to practice or be aware of nonduality? "
In this community, we never say that you have to actively practice non-duality. It is not a technique and cannot be practiced. It is an understanding—rather, a hint toward understanding. It is also meant to be let go of once you have found your answer. Nobody else can do it for you!
" Then can we say that the main event is assumption? It may even be assuming nonduality. "
Of course, non-duality is just a concept; you might as well call it an assumption. I don’t really care. I don’t use it because it causes confusion with the terms used in the law of assumption. Yes, you need to let that go too. Non-duality is not "the truth" per se, but it helps to understand what reality (is that what you call 'main event') actually is.
You are too focused on words. What is the message that lays behind them?

oh and i think i figured out the difference between shifting and manifesting. i realized this while watching a peter cawkwell video. the only reason the 3d shifts instantly while intending to shift, is because we assume it will. because the act we are doing is different. but manifesting we assume it will happen either later today, or tomorrow or in 3 days, because that’s what we assume it to be. literally at the end of the day everything is assumption.

hi! i ask completely out of curiousity, what did Peter Cawkwell do?
I have him blocked, so I haven't what other things he's been possibly stirring recently. But from what I've seen he's been using slurs (his defense of said slurs not being slurs in his reality rubs me the wrong way imo). He "apologized" for it and continued to use it. He also has a long playlist of all the drama he's been in with people and is willingly complicit of the genocide in Gaza, paraphrasing his words: if he talks about it, he'll have to talk about every other world problem. And the defenders themselves praise him like he's some sort of god-like figure which... also doesn't sit right.
To me he's a 300-something year old shifter that acts very childishly. Which says something because he's physically not much younger than me

are there women bl authors mostly because I see men.
There’s Rachel Harrison, who did the well known (and very good) Honourbound, as well as a bunch of other books. Sarah Cawkwell has done an absolute fuckload of books, including Valkia the Bloody. Danie Ware has written a bunch of Sororitas stuff. There may be more, but those three I recall off the top of my head. So yes? There are?

/// Finished the book Marvel Wastelanders: Star-Lord by Sarah Cawkwell and holy crap, it was so good! I know it wasn't a *Rocket Focused* book per se, but he's a main character on it along with old man Peter Quill (Rocket is also an old man in this). I would say this was one of the best characterizations I've seen of Rocket in any media outside of the movies. If you haven't read it or want to scratch that itch for more GOTG media this is something I am going to recommend. It's on spotify if you prefer an audio tape. It was a bit confusing at first because the voices for Peter and Rocket kinda sound similar but it gets easier to understand after the first chapter. ///

Yes, this is because you have convinced yourself that your mind needs to follow a specific pattern/set of rules incompatible with what you're trying to do. While your essence has no rules or patterns, it is self-convinced. In sleep/altered state, you are in a vibrational state that is not touched by any rule, not even time or space. But that doesn't mean being awake is somehow your obstacle. Just change the rules.
I don't think you need nonduality. I don't think you need anything. I think you need to cultivate your self-knowing; now that is nonduality at its finest. Any shiny object that promotes stagnation, or externalization is not to your benefit in manifesting what you want to manifest. Because you are constantly doing this, perfectly, like breathing, self-sufficiently.
