Oh yeah, TC really damaged us (or more still does) interesting question tho, do the big Mewtwo comic artists like you have... Conferences? On who wants to do what next to make sure you don't all accidentally make the same stuff at the same time?😂

Several of my comics have been influenced by TC and some of the ideas she gives me whenever I'm not sure how to go about drawing something or how to play things out and I do my best to offer the same help that she gives me ^^ We compare ideas and talk about ways to improve them. We both agree that there should be some space in between my shadowtwo arc and hers, for you guys' sakes. XD

I've been thinking about those deadly sins poll you did awhile back and I decided to put my two cents into who I would say is each sin

Pride - Russell - my interpretation of him is that while he is very prideful in his organization skills, he does tend to be a know-it-all and even flat out condescending, which annoys the others to no end. He also likes being the "leader" of the group and being the one everyone turns to, if someone is shown to be more organized/smarter than Russell he would definitely feel threatened. But he's not just prideful of what he does, he's also very proud of his friends and tends to brag about them in conversations sometimes "Yeah, my friend is a model AND singer. Why do you ask?" "Oh, you're the parent of that one kid with the magician at his birthday party? Yeah, that's my friend. Pretty impressive stuff, huh?"

Greed - Minka - I mean... yeah. Have you seen how she is with shiny stuff? I kind of have nothing to add here tbh :/

Lust - Zoe - I think some people missed the assignment of that poll. Guys, she gets heart eyes at some unfortunate guy that crossed paths with her and now she declares that they're soul mates, she is literally MADE for lust :(

Gluttony - Penny - ehhhhhh I really didn't want to put Penny for gluttony but I kinda had no choice. Gluttony doesn't really fit her, but it doesn't really fit any of the other pets either. It just feels... fatphobic to place the chubby one as gluttony. I'm sorry girl 😔

Envy - Pepper - >:) hehehehe. Pepper just screams envy to me. And she has been canonically jealous in the show. It's something, okay??? And I headcanon that she has a MAJOR problem with comparing herself to others. Why can't she be as smart as Russell, as attractive as Sunil and Zoe, as kind as Vinnie and Penny, or as creative as Minka. She'd be lucky if Mitzi and Clement even look her in the eye, they could turn around and date any of her friends, and she wouldn't even even blame them. Every person she comes across, she always finds some way to compare herself to them. Why wouldn't she? Literally every single person in the goddam universe is better than her in some way while Pepper is a selfish asshole that no one wants to look at for more than two seconds

Wrath - Vinnie - Anger issues for the king. I think that during one of his outbursts, he ended up accidentally hurting one of his friends. And he has never forgiven himself, no matter how many times his friends assure him it's fine and nothing a little rest can't fix. And Vinnie brings the person he hurt all kinds of gifts, their favorite things, favorite food, etc. It legitimately scares Vinnie because his outbursts are uncontrollable, and he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he hurt someone again, or worse

Sloth - Sunil - sorry bestie this is all I had left, although it kinda fits since he was in a very sleepy mood when his best friend was missing :/

Yes, I absolutely think some people missed the assignment on that pride poll but oh well. There's always the chance they didn't, I guess. Still, Zoe is absolutely the most obvious to me, lust all the way, cause come on. Everyone up to Penny I gave the same reasoning pretty much so yeah, I agree.

My other conclusion is that you and I just really like when characters are envious of other cause angst material so naturally we want to give it to our favourites xD. I'll be honest though, I don't know if Vinnie was envious once caononically, Pepper though was. Part of me thinks maybe they didn't give that to him cause "haha, stupid and has no emotional range" but I might be very much wrong. Still, I agree with wrath as well. The man is Satan himself. And no, I don't know Helluva Boss lore, I just know bible lore :].

And let me talk about the gluttony one, I mean, none of the sins really 100% match anyone cause you know, they're from children's show, it's not like they ever did anything that wrong really. Gluttony means overindulgence in food and drinks, as in you consume those when others need them more but you take it all for yourself. Penny never did that of course but like, they've never been in a situation like that. Still, she's the one whose thing is eating a lot, so she naturally fits the best even if she doesn't exactly fit on her own.

And another conclusion is that sloth is just assigned at random to whoever is left cause it just fits nobody lol which I agree with btw. Like, someone has to have it, but no one really fits. Some fit better, some fit worse, but no one really fits. And yeah, Sunil might have been sleepy when his literal besite went missing, but let's be honest, no one did much to find him :/ (still salty). Plus, I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could find at least one moment for each of them when they could be considered lazy cause that's just something all people or in this case pets do.

Howdy! I've got a couple anon asks on my blog telling me to report and/or block you so I decided to finally check you out!

I'm absolutely in love with Dazai (I also really like the actual author's works! I hope I can save up some money to bulk buy his books sometime in the near future :)) and I was really curious when I saw your username.

I personally don't really identify, I guess?, with your way of thinking?? Does this make sense to you???? But I feel some sort of kinship because I HATE Chuuya in a way that I feel is similar to how you "hate" Dazai. I don't act hate him, that's very strong and also these guys are fictional (despite the namesakes and abilities that are modeled after real authors, many of whom I greatly enjoy!) and from what I've seen you're not spreading any negativity???

I also hate Dazai x Chuuya (I can't even remember the ship name lol) mostly because of Chuu-Chuu and because although I've enjoyed their dynamic/trope in other ships, this one just infuriates me and disagrees with my general vibe-ology I suppose lol, so all this to say, I see no reason to block or report you. I'm sorry you have to deal with so many people that lack basic reading comprehension and critical thinking.

I wrote all this on anon because I want to avoid having too much drama on my blogs, but I hope this doesn't cause a shitstorm for you, particularly because of the shipping part... I really wanna put all of this behind me, but the asks you got were from an well-known account that’s run by an obsessive Dazai fan who has been harassing countless bsd accounts for months now. If you scroll through my blog you should find stuff from her. (I don’t wanna get into detail here, but please dm me because there’s some stuff I wanna ask about this privately)

—yeah, I get it entirely— everything you said about Chuuya (although I do like him, I just don’t understand why he’s as popular as he is), and about the ship of Dazai x Chuuya (which I too don’t ship, although I enjoy their dynamic/banter occasionally). I’m not very active in any internet fandom, and bsd is the biggest fandom I’ve ever “participated” in, so I assumed it was just one of the many fandom things I don’t fully get. So it’s nice to see I’m not the only one who’s lost on why the fandom is the way it is.

This may be a weird thing to ask, but if possible (and if it fits with your blog aesthetic), could you maybe post something telling people to ignore the account sending asks saying to report me? If she sent that stuff to one account, I guarantee she sent it to 50 others. Again, I know that that’s a pretty big thing to ask from someone, especially since you don’t know me. So no pressure, I just don’t want my account taken down or something.

This also conveniently let's them more easily make shit up or ignore things, like how as you say, Palpatine is the end result of a thousand year long conspiracy. Plus the Jedi were suspicious of him?

They also clearly don't know what ascetic means given the Jedi are overall quite chill and often shown to engage in relaxation or enjoyable tings and to otherwise have friends outside the Order. The Order is their home and community but that's just like, what living in a religious community is like? Also how the fuck can it be considered abduction when Anakin's parent was for it, the word for that is god damn adoption.

Plus given this is one of the most iconic Batman scenes, I'd sat Batman is indeed closer to a cult than the Jedi: Fun fact these are not the only time stuff like this is done and comes off as super weird XD

I am also deeply confused how the Jedi are at fault for what happened to Shmi when she'd become free in the interim? Like are they magically responsible for every bad thing that happens ever but not for ay of the good stuff they actually do?

Also how is it their fault Anakin becomes more volatile after that? He doesn't tell them anything because he knows he shouldn't have wiped out an entire community in rage so he only told people he knew wouldn't be upset with him!

Anakin wanted all the perks of being a Jedi but none of the responsibilities or challenges. He wanted his ideal romance with Padme, but not for her to disagree with him in any meaningful way. He wanted Sidious to be his endlessly supportive mentor and enabler. & when he couldn't have it all, he chose the most selfish and destructive things and ultimately ended up with nothing, and cursed everyone with him.

Insisting the Jedi were primarily to blame for Anakin being a fascist traitor and Palpatine ordering their deaths is painfully fucking stupid. Like its so disconnected from reality and victim blaming that it hurts to read. I don't find Anakin's evil relatable at all, I can't envision killing my entire community & family to protect one person. I think that's deeply fucked up. Like even on an instinctual level like they are claiming its fucked up. Also let's be real here if THAT were enough to cause the Order to Fall, if that were even close to true, the Order would not have last as long as it did, or need a mind controlled army and thousand year conspiracy to take hem down.

OK so it turns out I did not see this for some reason and that is tragic because this was AMAZING!

Of the cuff regarding some notes stuff:

Honestly that both makes sense and would make the story hilarious as the contrasting performances start to emerge. Like both Adrien & Chloe spend so much of their time performing, Chloe's life was basically a performance unless she was having a breakdown, so like, they can play the Chat 'Role' but distinctions are still gonna slip through. Chloe is more forward physically than Chat, while Chat's got more emotional intelligence, there will be differences but not necessarily enough to twig "That's a different person." Love it.

Also yeah Marinette finding out and being like "I guess they need to do it that way" or "Damn that would be so useful though, but rules are rules!" makes sense.

No worries on it getting away from you as said, amazing.

Honestly a big fan of the idea that they like, have enough time to discuss the idea before Adrien's first, or perhaps second, trip out as a hero during Origins. So when Chloe shows up next time & is just like, "Its Duchess today" Ladybug just rolls with it and only picks up on the switches on the third team up when its Duke again.

Also low key, Adrien and Chloe realizing some gender fluidity perhaps, Adrien He/Her, and Chloe she/they maybe?

On the Kwami thing, Oh I totally get it, I was not trying to vindicate, justify or defend the Order in anyway. My stance regarding the Kwami's was solely rooted in making the setting slightly less horrific but making the Kwami have a weird approach to existence. So while they aren't fond of the Order, they aren't suffering the same kind of horrific trauma and mental degradation that such an existence would inflict on a human. Its still not good, its just that they are alien enough that it doesn't have the same intensity of impact.

A friend I was discussing an older idea with described Sass's attitude to Nooro being missing as.

"Sass's perspective on time means they not only know but feel how this too will pass. That they will all be reunited again and that in the cosmic scale its a very small amount of time & so can be utterly unbothered. On the other hand, because of how Sass perceives time when a little sibling is missing they are missing 'forever' because regardless of how time works, Sass is existing in this one moment without them while having a sense of scale of time for the rest of existence."

Does that make sense?

Mhm these examples work well, suddenly reminded of She-Ra and how in episode 1 Adora's like, "Well you do disrespect authority a lot" or something to that effect. & Catra is furious because of course Adora doesn't get it, Adora is the golden child, authority treats her kindly, while Catra realized sometime ago authority will only hurt her for fun so she doesn't try. Not consciously anyway.

Gosh you can hear how scathing her anger is here, I love it.

I love Marinette's sheer explosion of righteous anger and shock, her intense belief in what is right can be very useful once it pivots to someone's side and this is conveyed very well here. The shock both at the defense and the sibling bit was great, took the wind right out of Chloe's sails XD

Also love how worried Marinette is over Kagami, Fu will have been stressing the danger this whole time so it makes sense it is more at the forefront of her mind.

I adore the distinct nicknames and also Chloe calling Adrien just like, "Fuck, I need someone with emotional skills and tact!"

I am very curious about this line, also love Marinette talking about how if she had a sibling she'd not want to do it alone, cos yeah she'd likely be looking at their situation with a lot of envy even with the fighting with Fu.

Also low key Adrien & Chloe being like, "We're family? We are now!"

Damn, Marinette clearly needed this vent session, I like how you do a good job of making her so sympathetic here, cos much of the stories framing would make that more challenging.

I had the most hilarious Aware AU thoughts:

OK, so everything leading up to Origins is the same as discussed.

When Adrien stops to help Fu he's almost caught but Chloe was waiting outside & jumped in when Nathalie showed up and made a sufficient enough spectacle that Sabrina could grab Adrien and they bolt into the school.

Argument over seats ensues, Adrien & Nino making tentative friends.

Kagami is probably around but maybe not in this class. Gabriel is irritated but also figures that an Akuma attack is a good reason to force Adrien out of going to school & keeps Nathalie waiting. So he can't even head out to the arcade across the street.

This is all a big red flag to Nino when he hears & sees that yes, Adrien's bodyguard & his fathers assistant have basically parked outside the school to obsessively watch them all day.

Stuff happens, Ivan becomes an Akuma & in the chaos Adrien, Chloe & maybe Sabrina, grudgingly agree to go to the Agreste Mansion cos it is at least very heavily fortified. Minor argument with Nathalie but time is dead bodies with a giant rock monster around.

Anyway this means Adrien has company when he finds Plagg.

Fortunately the Kwami of Destruction is all in favor of teenage rebellion "Fuck yeah, stick it to the old people!" & has no issue ignoring that Chloe knows Adrien's identity, though they do work to cover it up a little bit when needed.

But, but, but, here's the fun part.

Chloe also becomes Chat Noir.

Not all the time but when its impractical for Adrien to do it she dons the ring. Both already having many aesthetic commonalities and a familiarity with each others personalities, the way the Glamour works & mild physical form changes when transforming and... No one notices, not even Fu!

Also both flirt with Ladybug, a lot.

Also I think Kagami might be Marinette's first pick for an extra ally which might happen sooner as Fu would want someone else more in line with his thinking on side.

This isn't a dig at Alya, but in Aware Marinette as technically known Kagami longer. Sees her as very respectful & dutiful, and has 100% seen her bravely try to throw down with Akuma to keep people safe.

One big difference between Fu & the other shitty adults, is that he's much more like Roger. IE, he is trying to do the right thing, genuinely does not want to bring anyone pain. He is just intensely paranoid & overly cautious tot he point where it can become harmful.

So, first of all, this is hilarious to me. Yes, absolutely, all of this.

second, I see your "Kagami is chosen by Marinette first", and raise you "As a body double". Like, I think part of why Alya gets picked to be the Fox was proximity - the Akuma was her little sisters, it was the middle of the night, she's already aware of the situation, Marinette trusts her and needs a teammate, boom, Alya gets to be the Fox. However, for Kagami, you're right, she does know her longer here, so probably trusts her more. So, I suggest learning about the "Cat Siblings" (this is Marinette's best guess, if she doesn’t have their identities, that the Chat Noir duo are siblings) gives Marinette ideas. Like, yes, Fu is clearly against it, but part of Marinette probably thinks "dammit, that’s such a good system, though!". How many times has she been screwed over because she had to be Ladybug, and completely fucked up her schedule? There being TWO people to be Cat Noir, while not ideal, is still better for Cat Noir in general. Not that Marinette would EVER do something like that, once the Guardian makes his stance clear! Oh no, absolutely not!

Which, uh, doesn’t mean she hasn’t THOUGHT about someone else to let borrow the earrings in an emergency, OR that she hasn’t thought about Kagami specifically, OR that she hasn’t quietly discussed it with Tikki (in hypotheticals) what to do if she's taken out! So (my best guess for what happens) when Marinette comes down with a particularly nasty flu, and can't even stand up without feeling dizzy, she actually doesn’t think that long before calling up Kagami, like, "uh, hey, weird question, do you think you could take over being Ladybug for me? I can taste colours, and not in the fun way."

Of course, Kagami does it, and because she's VERY different from Marinette (personality-wise) while the public is fooled thanks to the Glamour, Cat Noir is "uh, excuse me? Who are you???", and Kagami has to awkwardly explain that your regularly scheduled Ladybug currently has a fever of one hundred and four, and can't really leave the bathroom right now, so she's filling in. After it’s all over, she quickly leaves to give Marinette the earrings back (maybe drop off some medicine?), and Cat Noir(e) is left feeling, like, "ha, maybe the old man will get off our backs now, Ladybug clearly agrees with us!"

Which. Uh. Yeah, no, that doesn’t really happen. Maybe Ladybug's just better at explaining it, (or Fu is just a little prejudiced against the Cat in particular, I imagine the Order weren’t Plagg’s biggest fans, Fu probably internalized a lot of their shit), but he's . . . not OKAY with Ladybug sharing her ID and position with another person, but much more understanding. If Marinette was really that sick, then going out as Ladybug would have been seriously detrimental to both her and the fight against Hawk Moth. And there NEEDS to be a Ladybug in every fight, to purify the Akuma. Yes, Fu would rather she hadn’t done it, but it was clearly the right decision at the time, so Fu will trust Marinette on this. He still doesn’t recommend doing it too often, but a back up Ladybug is clearly a good idea.

Well, this means that Back Up Cat is good too, right? Nope! Still salty about them, still thinks one of them should knock it off, still thinks he should take the Miraculous back!

Yeah, you can imagine how this is going down with the Cat Noir(e) Duo. ESPECIALLY because this is the Aware Kids. It’s every instance of favouritism, of "unexceptional", of "not good enough". Congrats Fu, you just got knocked into "Adults we DO NOT trust"! You already had a foothold, now you get a proper seat!

On the flip side, I see this as where Marinette starts questioning Fu a little more. Because for all her black and white mentality, all her naïveté, the double-standard is GLARING. She's spent the past few months watching the battle of Wills that is Cat Noir(e) Vs Fu. She was expecting a HELL of a talking to once she wasn't throwing up her stomach. Instead, she gets mild disappointment at the SITUATION, general understanding, and even gets COMMENDED for her reasoning and quick reaction to the situation. Which makes her go "waitwait,wait, wait, hold the FUCK up", because what? What the HELL? Why is it ok if SHE does the thing that Fu's been railing against, but not Cat Noir(e)? Good grief, shouldn’t it have been a worse decision? The Cat Noir(e) Duo at least started at roughly the same time. They've been training and getting better alongside her. Now that Marinette's no longer fever-fogged, she's thinking it honestly would have made more sense to have Tikki take the earrings, and go find one of the duo to be a replacement Ladybug. They would have at least had some idea what they were doing! But no, instead she sent a friend, who had barely any idea, to do the job. And that's . . . . fine? What? And DON'T say it’s cause Ladybug needs to be there to purify the Akuma, Marinette knows she NEEDS back up! If anything, the Cat Noir(e) Duo was always kind of a comfort to her, cause she knew she was always likely to have SOMEONE there to support her. Fu so clearly showing favouritism is a hit to Marinette's view of all authority figures being kind and reasonable, making her start questioning him a bit more. Which, ya know, is probably needed.

On Fu himself, yes, he is very much like Roger. I'm not sure on how the particulars work out, since we have no idea what Roger's home life was like as a kid, but I've been operating under the adage "nothing exists in a vacuum". Roger didn’t spring forth fully formed with his opinions on "serving the public (toxic)", he had to learn that somewhere. Someone taught him those views, which he's passing onto Sabrina. And we SEE, at least partially, Fu getting taught his paranoia - if not from the Order itself, from the incident that took the Order away, which Fu probably feels a lot of guilt for. Which, as far as I can tell, he's managing by doubling down on the few teachings he had. Don’t give out IDs. Always put the Miraculous back in the box, don’t let them out. Don’t let the Kwami know any secrets.

Unfortunately, much like Roger, I feel like Fu also needs to see his stubbornness blow up in his face before he realizes he's fucking up.

lol dang it, I was kinda hoping to avoid this question, just because I feel like I'd find it hella hard to explain some things, but I'll try my best and hopefully it'll make some sense xD

I'll start from afar bc I wanna try to explain my reasonings, since I don't want to go without arguments into such highly debated question lolz. I talked about this a bit in my previous asks somewhere, but not broadly as to why that one guy hit all the right spots.

So throughout the books Wu Xie always does this wonderful thing, where he very tangibly describes the feeling he gets when Xiaoge is near, I mean like the aura around him. And he always somehow does it so colorful, that this mix of safety, assurance, calmness, composure and some things I can't quite put into one noun, that he brings to him, I think everyone who've read the books can recognize as this almost magical "Xiaoge feeling". It's not just the way he acts in some dangerous situations or smth like that. It's just everything. You either have it or you don't. And here goes my first argument... to me none of them, except for Huang Junjie and Yuliang have it.

I mean it's not even the obvious stuff, it's like the way they move during the action scenes, the way they even stand and hold themselves, the way they touch Wu Xie, the tone of their voices (both of which are like soothing as fuck), little things you'd think wouldn't matter, but when you watch it and all the puzzle pieces are together, you're like... fuck yeah, thats him.

Also not really that weighty of a point, but to me there's always a joy to see that the actor who plays the character not only gets what's he's playing, but also loves it, bc it's always seen on screen. Usually when some asked about the character they play and what they have in common for example they answer with obvious things like if some character is introverted they're like "well I also don't talk very much" or smth like that, you know what I mean. When I was watching interviews of Yuliang and Huang Junjie I was just smiling so much, bc they've said such things that made me go "yeah, Qiling is safe in their hands".

In Reboot case working in such close proximity with the author definitely also played a huge role here. Bc it kinda gets complicated in some aspects since the books are written from Wu Xie's point of view and you can't only base your picture on his perspective, just bc it's coming from a person who after being basically told "you're my whole world" goes "I'm just a person he randomly passes by in his long life" in his thoughts. Not only he's utterly clueless and dumb when it comes to all this, that he wouldn't notice the way Qiling looks at him and other things, its also not that kind of book, that would go "I suddenly caught poker face looking at me like I'm his whole existence" (and I honestly don't want it to be that book lmao). So you have to take into the account here stuff like what author says to get the whole picture, bc if you look at that from the point of Qiling's view for example, this shit takes a whole wild turn. So I really loved that in UN and Reboot ways of showing Qiling's feelings were well thought out and fit the timeline.

Bc it also works both ways, when it comes to other adaptations. Like Qiling is very and I mean ETREMELY hard to win over. We all know that it was a very long process of gaining his trust and even longer for him to fall for Wu Xie to the point of him being his everything. So what I want in those interpretations is for them to get at which point of their relationships what Xiaoge's behavior makes sense. I do not need any fanservice if it ruins the character, I'll just hate it. The thing that their feelings didn't come out of nowhere is what I LOVE about this ship, bc I'm not the kind of person who believes in "we love for nothing" thing and love at first sight thing (only "got hots for each other" at first sight), bc thats bull. Wu Xie became his everything after a long LONG process of getting to know each other. At the beginning tho he was the same stranger to him as everyone else. So what Reboot Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie yet and what UN's Qiling feels for Wu Xie is not what Lost Tomb's Qiling feels for Wu Xie (which at that point was nothing). And I feel like not everyone gets the fact that you can totally wreck the character if you make him behave not the way he behaved in that particular time. Like for example, if someone would make a MDZS adaptation where at the very beginning of their relationships LZ treats WWX the way he treated him after the reincarnation just because "who cares, it's still LZ", that would be dumb af, see what I mean. So Xiaoge having a weakness for Wu Xie in part one is automatically not a Xiaoge to me, bc a huge part of his character and the thing NPSS speaks a lot about is just how IMPOSSIBLE it is for someone to catch his attention and how long it took Wu Xie to get there. So let's just say to me UN and Reboot Qilings for the first time didn't feel like some mashup or character summary/parody, they were Qilings the way they are supposed to be in that part of the story, bc it was the only times someone actually bothered to coordinate it.

Now as to why I prefer one to another. Xiaoge has this thing... the way he holds himself with other people, that is sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally suppressing.

Like everyone knows that if you're a passerby, Qiling genuinely doesn't fucking care and would in fact be pretty harsh about it in terms of treating people like they do not deserve their attention. He won't be like "please, don't bother me", he simply ignored them like an empty space. He is also like that with acquaintances who in his opinion do not deserve his respect like that girl who went hysterical, bc she was upset that he was the only one who wasn't drooling on her like all other men on the crew, Chen Wenjin, Wu Xie's uncles and etc. He's not openly disrespectful unless they trigger him in some way (usually by trying to act superior or later on for not treating Wu Xie right), but if they do, he will in fact remind them their place in sometimes a very rude way, at times humiliating them in front of ppl bc he looks younger than them and talking starts.

He's always doing things on his own terms and hates being told what to do. Like he legit scared Chen Wenjin just with a look and the tone of his voice when he said "let go", when she tried to command him on the mission and grabbed him trying to lecture him about what he should or shouldn't do. That's why Wu Erbai didn't even try anything like this and let him do whatever he needed to do and equally lead the mission in Reboot. And why the scene where Wu Xie 'commands' "Xiaoge, come back" and he immediately listens holds another special place in my heart. Bc he NEVER and I mean NEVER allows such things to ANYONE.

So here I came to a point of why despite loving them both dearly, my favorite Xiaoge is Huang Junjie.

I have this dissonance with Yuliang's version when to me in many scenes it felt like he and Wu Xie are the same age. Like if he was Xiaoge, but in his 20s. In his interactions with Chen Wenjin the dynamics was turned upside down, with him being okay with her telling him what to do and just in general the way she behaved with him. Same as like I didn't always quite believe him to be on par with older generation or even Pangzi, it just felt like he was truly younger than them. Some scenes that I do find extremely cute just don't fit book Xiaoge at all, I'm talking about some moments like his face when Wu Xie gave him food, or him pouting and many things he's done, when you were going "uwu he's a baby". He just never gives me this feeling in the books ever, not just bc he's 100 years old, but sad fact here.. bc he's simply unable to behave that way. Like in the books you'll desperately want to shower him with love, but he's just... I can't quite explain, it's very sad.

I guess it's just you know these characters, who are like hundreds years old, but look like they're 18? I think you have to be very careful with how you write those, so you could deliver that. And in UN because of some changed dynamics and scenes I straight up forgot about it, until Wu Xie threw some joke like "he's an old man" in front of a restaurant.

In Reboot Xiaoge could make Wu Erbai stutter with one move, put Yuliang's version in the same scene, I just don't think it would've worked. Like I'm trying to imagine him telling UN's Wu Erbai what to do and having troubles already haha. Same as I don't think he's capable to be genuinely mad at Wu Xie, and HJJ nailed it esp in one of my fav when Wu Xie was laughing at Pangzi's joke about him catching cold. The look he gave him and how ZYL just retreated was priceless xD. And boy could Qiling get angry with him in the books!

Otherwise I didn't have any drastic fall outs there, like with Joseph's Wu Xie and Ah Ning's death, because that was just too much of a difference, but there were still moments where it was once again this the same scene completely different emotion thing. He was more tolerable to ppl in general here, more pliable. And 50% of the time he gave me the cute lost kitten type, which I just cannot connect with the feeling he gave me in the books. His personality is a cat type 100%, but like seriously "cute baby" is the last word combination I would ever apply to book Xiaoge, but with Yuliang's version it's easily applied. So small bean he is indeed. With Joseph and in UN it works incredibly perfect to me, but the way he is in UN is at times too gentle. And there are lots of scenes where Joseph himself looked at him in a way "you're too cute, let me pinch your cheeks" kind of way, or the way he like sat down next to him on the coast, he was a bit babying him at times. I can't imagine book pingxie doing that. It's just a whole different vibe, the way he takes care of him, the way he lets him take care of him... it's...uuuuuuuuu another vibe (see, I'm so good at explaining lmao).

It's also kinda funny to me, bc HJJ who's the smallest and who irl truly a kitten never once gave me that feeling on screen for some reason. The one babied and loved by every crew and old ppl, who was cutely hiding behind ZYL's back on set, who won't sue an ex who almost ruined his career bc of how stupid she is, bc he "didn't want to hurt her", who according to staff can't even step on a fly, whom CMH was petting for several minutes after he had to hit him with a prop brick bc he didn't wanna do it lmao. I was just like.. ok, this is hilarious, bc I in fact didn't expect him to be a small bean, so watching all the bts made me go LOOOOL. Probably ZYL acting like a 3 year old helped him transform and the age difference problem got lost lmao

As for other adaptations. You know I can't watch seriously "Lost Tomb", I think some ppl probably have some nostalgic feeling about it, but I'm sorry, to me it's fucking hilarious. Like I've already said it looks like some type of twilight parody thing or smth. Soft damselle Wu Xie esp killed me, bc 1st when he ever was that, 2nd in the first book he's salty af, I don't even know this dude in this interpretation, I was like who's this. YangYang I know him from other things, I really don't think it's his role. I know the script and everything is bad. I know the costume and hair are horrendously funny, but it's just I was watching him in those action scenes and was like no... just I'm sorry but I'm not feeling it. I simply just don't know what to say about the whole thing seriously, bc I don't even know where to start. 10 episodes of some salad finished with one mutilated scene from book 6 for no reason the fact that characters are weird themselves also I can't quite tell, did they really just meet or they imply smth else lmao.. I'm sorry, but I do not get it.

I've given LT2 another try after finishing all the books and I've dropped it half way through, Cheng Yi wasn't even close to how I pictured Xiaoge in any aspect. He in fact didn't do anything OOC or off the book or anything, I just was like "not my Qiling". Happens sometimes.

P.S. To be fair here also maybe we should take into account the fact that some got luckier than other with "at which point" Xiaoge they're playing. Like for example, "Wrath of the Sea" and "Qingling Tree" books which is LT2 is not exactly you can say much about Qiling there, he trolls them there in the beginning (in a brilliant way that was totally lost in the adaptation) and he is there in "Wrath of Sea", but it's not the part that can make his character shine in any way, there's not much things happening there that would make you fall for him or get to know him; Yuliang grabbed the fattest piece bc it's middle several books, when they're always together and his character shines the most in terms of clues about past, opening up to Wu Xie and Pangzi, and there are many many events where you can get the picture of what kind of man he is; Huang Junjie grabbed my fav piece of utter devotion, where he's already fully and wholeheartedly belongs to Wu Xie, that I'm just weak for. So like... there's also that I guess xD.

“Butch, would you settle down? I can’t clean this if you keep twitching like that.”

“Well maybe I would stop twitching if ya stop poking me! That stuff stings.”

Butch flinches away from the cloth in Billie’s hand, and she sighs. The cut on his jaw apparently originated from a broken glass in the brawl that had happened in the Muddy Rudder, and while she likes the establishment well enough she does not feel confident enough in Belle’s dishwashing to feel she can forgo disinfectant.

“Don’t be a baby, it’s just antiseptic. I wouldn’t have to use it if you hadn’t gotten yourself into a fight.” 

She didn’t really know it had happened either – they had just been enjoying a drink in the bar and Sister had started mouthing off in the background, and next thing she knew fists were flying and Charon was having to pull a bleeding Butch off Sister by the collar. Butch didn’t even have the excuse of drunkenness as he’d only been halfway through a single beer before everything kicked off.

“That guy was knocking our gang, Bills!”

“He was extremely drunk, and the worst thing he said to you as far as I heard was that you ‘had a stupid face’. You came up with more offensive things to say to me at age ten.”

A snort comes from behind them. Charon, who had been cleaning his shotgun in silence in the corner of their room at the Weatherly, raises his eyes to meet Butch’s as the young barber glares at him.

“You got something to say too, big guy?”

The ghoul’s face remains impassive as he holds Butch’s stare, but Billie sees the slightest quiver at the corner of his lip.

“Sister wasn’t wrong in that aspect at least.”

Billie tries – unsuccessfully - to control her own grin even as she holds Butch down in his chair while he tries to leap up and face Charon himself. Extending her leg, she shoves Charon’s knee playfully with her foot, and he snorts again.

“I thought you were supposed to be the adult here?” Laughing, she pushes him again. “Go on, go walk Dogmeat or something and let me work in peace without antagonising my patient.”

“Physical violence invalidates the contract.” The twitch in his lip has turned to the barest hint of a smile that gives away his amusement.

“Yeah, yeah. Go on, shoo.”

Charon does leave with Dogmeat in tow but not before ruffling her hair as he goes, and she blows an errant curl out of her eyes before turning back to her unruly patient. Butch is, for want of a better word, pouting.

“Are you going to let me clean that now?”

Butch huffs but complies, and Billie gets back to disinfecting the wound with little interruption other than the odd wince.

“Now are you gonna tell me what Sister actually said that got you all revved up? I’ve said ten worse things to you since breakfast, and I don’t catch you trying to break my face.”

Butch huffs again.

“Yeah, but that’s you, and I figure you get some for free cause of all the shit I did to you when we were kids.” He twitches again as she dabs at his jaw, but doesn’t meet her eye. “You get to talk shit about me and I get to talk shit about you, but some weirdo running his mouth doesn’t get to say nothin’ to me about a fellow Tunnel Snake.”

Oh. Her hand stills. This is about me. Billie had let slip to Butch once that she disliked being the wasteland’s new celebrity. Three Dog may have meant well, but now everywhere she went all eyes were on her and judging her without even knowing her, and sometimes it made her feel like shutting herself in her house and never coming out again. 

Even when she was a kid so many people in the vault had looked at her different because she was a wastelander’s kid without her even knowing the reason, everyone had expected her to become a doctor because she was Doctor Morgan’s kid. She found it less of a burden now, but the weight of other people’s perceptions weighed heavy on her.

She’d never had anyone fighting for her honour like that before.

Butch is still pointedly avoiding looking at her and her hand is hovering conspicuously in midair, so she drops it. The wound was cleaned well enough anyway. Instead she picks up a stimpak and gently injects a little of the solution at the edge of the cut. Butch hisses at the unexpected pain of the needle, and finally looks back at her.

“Ow! Was that necessary?”

Before her eyes the new skin starts to form over the cut. It was a bit of an unnecessary use of a stimpak, but she can’t bring herself to feel bad about it.

“Facial wounds get infected pretty easily, it’s better to get them healed over. You didn’t wanna have a scar there, right?” She hopes the deflection is enough to cover her terrible lying, and takes Butch’s chin between her thumb and forefinger to better examine his face. The new pink skin on Butch’s defined jaw has now covered the open flesh completely – by the morning it will look like nothing ever happened. It looks so delicate, and she gets a sudden urge to trace it with a finger before she gets a hold of herself. “All done.”

Butch seems to snap out of whatever stupor he was in and looks away as she lets go of his jaw. With a muttered ‘thanks’ he gets to his feet as she finishes packing away her med kit and pulls his jacket back on. As he opens the door out of the room, her mouth starts speaking again seemingly without her permission.

“For the record –” she says, placing the med kit back in her pack by the door, and Butch’s big blue eyes look surprised as he looks back over his shoulder at her “- it’s a pretty nice face, actually.”

Butch looks stunned for a brief moment before recovering himself with a sly smile.

“Aw Bills, if you wanted to get a closer look all ya gotta do is ask.” He cocks a eyebrow, and Billie can feel her ears burning red.

“It’s still a stupid face!” She blurts and pushes him by the face over the threshold, taking some comfort that his staggering to recover himself wipes the cocky grin off his face. “Goodnight!”

Face burning, she slams the door shut.

Yeah! I definitely didn’t just want to have them kill her just for the sake of it, especially since she is a kid lmao. Then I got to thinking abt the idea of changelings and whatnot, and well… there are already things here that are known to use corpses as vessels, like Salix (though those are less corpses and more dolls lmao) and beings most often just known as Roadkill! This is why vultures are incredibly important to the universe; they eat the dead things before the dead things can eat you

Alouette definitely had a talent for getting lost – hell, that’s part of how she met Time! She got better at directions (somewhat, when you don’t have a definitive home, when all you do is wander… what does it even mean to be lost? Can you get lost, if you don’t have anywhere to go back to?) as she got ‘older’, but its never gonna be her strong suit lol

She’s sure ended up in a number of time-related messes and a lot of lectures, though the lectures are more like uni lectures only you’re the only person there versus getting scolded by your parents lectures. Although what they do less causes things like paradoxes and is more… ‘time’ is like a river, and the universe is a paper boat floating along it, and Time and Alouette are a pair of fish trying to help it along as best they can. They’re pushing and pulling the universe down certain paths, and can see where the river splits and bends, and where the rocks are, except on a lot larger of a scale, where they can see and examine each water droplet. Alouette can’t redirect the river completely, but she can step into it! But that’s a lot of futures, possibilities, people, cause and effect scenarios, and it’s very hard to find your way back to the surface once the water is rushing over you. She could – and has – live through multiple different lifetimes if she forgets which one is the ‘real’ world, which would be a lot like a time loop for her! Time has definitely had to pull her out before, before she lost her mind, and teach her how to ‘safely’ maneuver it, stuff like that. The ‘veils’ are like running your fingers over the surface of the water to take a quick peek at the most likely immediate futures – is that man going to run into that person? will that lady trip? Who will that sales associate approach, if anyone? It can fuck up her vision sometimes lol

The crystal ball is Time’s eye, and it’s still seeing futures n shit! It reflects what Time is seeing, like real still-in-socket eyes do, and it helps Alouette look into the Stream of Time without actually having to step into it, though her actual control over it is pretty minimal. Since. Yknow. Not her eye :p

Her powers are mostly trained… just through living with them, learning how to make things easier for herself. What muscles to flex to move the Veils, how much does she have to focus to not move them? It’s a long and frustrating process – Time… isn’t always the best teacher haha. If Alouette were to ascend she could, theoretically, be able to make a similar crystal ball esque thing – though it wouldn’t really be a great idea to give them away, unless whoever she’s giving it to were tied to Time the same way she is

Yeah! The idea is that Death is a Timeless domain – and vice versa. Time is a Deathless one. Deaths aren’t set in stone – in some futures that person lives, and she can still see echoes of them in the ones where they don’t. It’s like – they just… stop showing up, most of the time! Someone walks into that allyway, and they don’t come back out, and she has no way of knowing that they’re dead. There’s a sort of magical mental block involved that prevents her from putting together the dots – and really makes her second guess everything she sees in her visions. Because sometimes the person is fine, they just went somewhere else and she didn’t see! She’s not omnipresent, she has to actually be there to see what happens, still has to walk that same distance. She cant be following every person at once – even if the way time works is different for her than everything else. On that note, things aligned with Death have a hard time comprehending the passage of time! It’s one of the few things keeping my girl Stella alive. She had to work very very hard to not leave the child she ended up in possession of alone for a couple centuries :p

I imagine the way they work is that they start out as just plain puppets, but the more they’re forced to pretend to be people and their puppeteer has their attention split between, say, an army, they can slowly form sentience. So if u wanted to… definitely not impossible that one or two could have slipped through the cracks! They’d have to be very, very careful not to be caught and reduced back to a will-less puppet, thought……

Ash and Constellation’s relationship is a little bit of everything – at least from Constellation’s side!

Okay – a bit more worlduilding lore stuff; one way for a god to be born and to die is form them to Shatter. There used to be a god like Time called Balance, but they couldn’t adapt to the changing times and shattered into three main parts; Growth, Decay, and the Desolation from which all life is born, and all death returns to (that last one is Ash!) due to, ah, personal reasons, let’s say, Desolation ends up trying to kill Growth and Decay – though it doesn’t exactly work, and they Shatter instead (oh yeah and there’s also one more ‘aspect’ of Balance that was just like all the leftover bits that formed a fuck-off huge semi-sentient tree in a huge underground cave). They Shatter into Delta, Ibis, Stella and Salix, with Delta and Ibis being the only two true gods out of the four (Stella is just a godling – not even at that point yet, really – and Salix is more like a Really Complex Creature for a while). The Deadzone also forms as a part of their death btw

Constellation is just the only one who ends up w Ash! The others, barely conscious, essentially just god-children, lol-nope outta there haha. What I’m thinking rn is that Stella sticks around out of a sort of instinctual reaction to her (future) aspect – which is. uh. Un-losting lost people? I’m… still working on how to explain that bit yet XD

Anyways – the result is that Stella sort of see Ash as her, well, everything! Her mother, her sister, her boss, her best friend, her god, even. They’ve got such a complex relationship – though Ash is not a good person (I mean all of my characters are incredibly morally grey, but still. She’s definitely the villain here). Ash doesn’t really see Stella as anything other than a particularly useful tool. She trusts Stella to a certain extent – though she’s perfectly aware that she’s the one holding all the power here, and that’s the way she likes it.

Mhm! Agreed love those, though Stella and Ash isn’t exactly the example I’d choose for that :p – maybe more along the lines of Constellation and Foxglove (bestest boi love him) or Delta with Clove and Loki!

Constellation and Time… don’t really have much of a relationship, tbh. She’s been manipulated a lot by Ash, and is Very Resistant to it’s ‘nudging’. Time’s got a bit more of a relationship to Arceli, though they definitely interact sometimes, since it hangs around her friends (all three of them are pretty key to the universe’s storyline, so Time likes to keep an eye on them, so to speak, and Salix gets into the business of making prosthetics eventually! That’s mostly related to Alouette, though I haven’t quite worked out just how she’s injured). Alouette though… eventually, after Stella’s been ‘banished’ and then Salix lends her a puppet, Alouette stumbles upon the two of them, and is pretty rightfully freaked out by their magic signatures (?) – and then ends up stumbling her way into Stella’s prison (she’s got a habit of doing that lmao). Alouette and Stella become… something like friends, though it’s incredibly complicated, and Alouette helps keep her company, though she’s torn on whether to help release her or not…

Time was just kinda hanging around when Alouette found it – it’s got all the time in the world, why not do some sight seeing? There was something interesting in the area, it was sure of it�� oh! A child! though they do take fieldtrips to the End every once in a while, especially when the world is just… too much. Its quieter there, and the few things that end up there don’t have many options available to them. There’s nothing to look at, and Alouette specifically finds that comforting at times.

Salix has lived in her puppets before – it’s one of the few ways she could escape, even if only for a little while. She feels more guilt over the way she was forced to give them to someone who only ever used them to hurt others, honestly. It can definitely be a bit dehumanizing for herself to jump from body to body, makes her acutely aware of how different she is even from other gods, though she’s the one holding all the strings for the body she builds, so losing agency isn’t really a concern for her. Living in her puppet form fills her with hubris, though, because no matter what happens, she can just get a new puppet! Living as ‘mortal’ for that short period of time puts things back into perspective for her, as well as the scolding she’s gonna get from her friends for being so reckless :p

Yeah, Arceli stops being mortal, to a point! When she nearly dies from being separated from the Deadzone, Ibis saves her by granting her some of his magic, a piece of his aspect, almost, so he kind of becomes like her patron, perks that come with that included. In short, their lives are tied together now (which she isn’t very happy about, but he’s… decent enough, she supposes), because if he dies, then so does the protection from the ill effects of not being in the Deadzone – though the longer she has to adapt to the world without its radiation, the more likely it is that she could survive without him. She’ snot going to risk it just yet, though. Arceli’s animosity with the gods come from growing up in the Deadzone – there aren’t any gods there. In fact, the only ones who can travel there with relative ease are the Splinters of Growth and Decay – and there’s like. Four of them, in the whole world. But the Deadzone didn’t exist until G + D’s deaths, so as far as the people who live there are aware, one day they were just… abandoned by their gods. And the Deadzone is an incredibly harsh place to live, so Arceli’s a bit peeved. After finding out about how they… kinda just can’t be there anymore she softens a bit towards gods in general, but, well, they haven’t shown her many reasons to temper that animosity.

Tbh the way to leave the Deadzone is super simple; you just walk out. It’s kinda like walking through a sandstorm, sure, but in this case, perfectly possible (don’t quote me on my sandstorm knowledge. I don’t think it’s actually simple or possible to walk through a sandstorm-). Its surviving once you’ve left that’s the problem. The Threshold is the point where the Deadzone truly ends – and where most things perish as their air is pulled from their lungs (not literally, I’m just not sure how to explain, exactly, haha). Being with Stella helps hold the effects at bay for a certain amount of time, but eventually, Arceli succumbs to it like all those before her.

Arceli’s never sent to the End of All Things, Constellation took most of the blame for that situation, and made the others promise to leave her alone if she willingly let them try to get rid of her (though that tale gets twisted, after so long). Arceli is hunted, often, there’s a sort of bounty on her head. She’s incredibly dangerous, out for blood at times, and has strong ties to the gods (even if she hates them). In the time period the main storyline takes place, there isn’t much love for divinity, and Arceli isn’t much different from it. Gods and their acolytes have to be very careful. Often, godlings are prosecuted once they start showing signs of ascension. Arceli doesn’t have many gods on her side – though she’s taken a number of godlings under her wing, so to speak (although she likes to blame Constellation for leading them to her. Its very lighthearted, though). Most of the divine community blames her on some level for the role she played in their fall – and they’re not exactly wrong to. Arceli’s having a hard time figuring out whether she feels guilty for the way things have turned out or not. Arceli doesn’t really ascend – it’s more like a powerup lol. it could have very easily taken away her sense of humanity, though she works very hard to stay as ‘mortal’ as she possibly can. Talking with people helps a lot.

Arceli is very not happy that Stella and Salix kept that Willow is actually her friend from her – but they don’t keep the secret for long and also reveal it by busting her out of being kidnapped and studied like bug. Plus, whatever reason I come up with for our dear Ss to have kept that information to themselves for a lil bit ‘Celi’s gonna understand, so she finds it in herself to forgive them, after letting them stew in the consequences of their actions for a while. And she can recognize that neither of them are really… in their best place mentally. Stella and Sals gets a hell of a lecture for making important decisions like that on such impaired judgment, and the two of them work hard to make it up to her.

You want that drama, that betrayal, Salix going full on puppet master and then having to face the people she’s hurt? You’re gonna get that – she was ‘raised’ by her adoptive brother who cares very much for her, and his boyfriend/fiancé has a pretty big extended family they’re close to, too. That’s where all the drama is, my friend, and I am living for it too! Very angsty, especially since Arceli is on bad terms with the family, and Salix essentially chooses her over them :)))

“What’s it like for them to be Sam?” whooOOOO BOY.  Oh boy is this something I LOVE. Stella is… not in a good place by the time she gets the chance to possess the puppet that’s later known as Sam. She’s starving, been in isolation for a couple thousand years at least, there’s literally nothing for her to do in this endless white expanse… her sanity is getting a bit spotty, in short. She’s mostly survived through dissociating and sleeping through the most of it, keeping her consciousness as buried as she can, so her mind doesn’t have the chance to break under the pressure of the nothingness. And a lot of that gets translated over to Sam.

Due to multiple factors – the starvation, the fact that this isn’t her real body, that thing’s still mostly pretending its best to be braindead, the way she’s been ‘living’ all this time, etc. etc. – Sam looks constantly exhausted, like she’s never aware of anything that’s going down at all. Getting to live as Sam both helps and hurts Constellation, but until she’s freed, she can’t bear to give up this meager taste of freedom. She can feed much better from this form, but she’s actually conscious when in it, and it becomes harder and harder to dissociate her way through the End once she starts waking up. Her magic is still there, but she’s not channeling it through herself anymore. It’s like trying to drawing while wearing oven mitts. If she needed to she could force her magic through her connection to the puppet – but that would have a High Risk of breaking it, which she cant risk. So she has to be careful, which isn’t something that her barely-consious mind is great at, right now. It takes some time, but living as Sam eventually becomes better than worse for her, keeps her alive just that little bit longer, pulls her away from where she’d been teetering on the edge. Definitely incredibly unstable right now though, as a treat!

Living as Sam is like wearing a shitty vr set to playing a shitty rendition of real life. Their thoughts are definitely really hazy, like trying to think through a migraine, and being Sam doesn’t help, but… it has given her back the ability to think at all, even if she has to get used to it again. I think it would remind her a lot of living with Ash, and she would hate it.

What happens when Salix ‘dies’ is that either her puppet is destroyed to the point where it’s unusable and she abandons it willingly (though she usually tries to get them back to her workshop where her real body is hidden), or the puppet is destroyed so thoroughly she’s dropkicked back there by force lmao. The puppet doesn’t really go anywhere – it’s essentially made out of clay and magic, and just… falls apart.

In short; Stella’s not really worried about Salix and Celi turning on her. Arceli pegs her as a godling pretty much right away, after her first real encounter w divinity, though Stella herself only finds out once it’s said to her face (live my oblivious jackass), and that’s before they meet Salix, who’s a god and not exactly hiding it. Yeah they’ve got issues they have to work through – but Stella and Arceli have been working together long enough that it doesn’t really shatter their relationship or anything, and Stella isn’t really anything like how Arceli imagined a god to be, and there’s certainly a big gap between the gods she finds herself allies with, and the ones she’s hunting down.

That’s not to say they don’t go through their strains – Ash is a skilled manipulator, and manages to pin Foxglove’s (real) death on Salix and Celi, and tempts Stella back to her side, for a time. They get into a bit of an altercation, before Stella gives up on revenge for her friend and stows away on Delta’s warship, where she eventually ascends. They’re forced to Communicate eventually though, and everything works out in the end, especially once Stella ends up with custody of Foxglove’s daughter.

The gods they are hunting down are the ones who willing joined the Phoenix King – his name is Taldos btw, I don’t I ever mentioned that. His ghost ends up haunting Clove lmao. At this point in the past, there’s a large power dynamic between the gods and those who’re effectively ‘mortal’, and Taldos and his followers both in and outside of the divine community are looking ot exploit that. He wants control, and what he and his allies are doing is purposely destabilizing their world, for the sake of having everything under his thumb. Those who weren’t involved in that God War were mostly safe from the resistance. It was war, and everyone was doing their best to win it. Stella, Salix, and Celi went out for a bit of revenge once the war was over and tried to keep their targets as the gods who didn’t have any remorse over the suffering they caused to those who couldn’t fight back. They made mistakes, of course, or let the power go to their heads on occasion, they’re not innocent. But in the situation they were in? they were the better option, the ‘right side’, if such a thing even exists. Delta and Ibis and the others did the same thing – though my girls were the real powerhouse uwu

Mostly, their crime was in teaching the more ‘mortal’ of the population how to kill – or even just hurt – the gods, and making it easier. Arceli was mortal during the beginning of this and so was Stella (to an extent) and they all had mortal friends at some point; they, along with a large number of gods who were part of the resistance, thought it was only fair they give them a means to defend themselves. This… wasn’t well received, and the divine host started to prosecute those involved after it was over. Constellation turned herself in and made a deal; she would take the full weight of the punishment, they would stop so blatantly advertising murder, and her friends would be left out of this. That’s how she was banished to the End of All Things; through an immense and complicated ritual. She’s bound there by the life forces of all those who participated. The original deal was just to keep her there for a certain amount of time, though, just until she’d “learned her lesson” (it wouldn’t look good for them political-wise to kill someone who was so endeared by the mortal population, at the time, not to mention that Stella’s got powerful allies), but eventually, it was decided that she was to dangerous to let live. I’m not here to say whether she deserved it or not – only that Constellation did not want to die. And she has a number of powerful people looking out for her who didn’t want her to die either.

Arceli and Salix had been out of the god-killing business for a while now; they’d proved their point, and though they weren’t happy with Stella, they were honouring her decision, and sacrifice for them. Now though… well. They were rusty, but still good at what they used to do. And they’d learned from their mistakes, and started offering their ‘targets’ more of a choice – even if it was only “abandon your part in the ritual or die”.

Being trapped… it doesn’t really change much about Constellation’s relationship with killing and dying, other than give her an increased distaste for torture. Her morals were always a little bit warped from being raise by Ash, and she was an assassin up until the end of the God War. She’s killed before, she’s nearly died before, she’s been captured and tortured and captured and not tortured before. Plus; she’s… trying not the get caught up in her thoughts. She definitely spends some time second-guessing whether some of her victims deserved their deaths or not, and there’s an increased guilt over the harm she did working under Ash – but at least their deaths were quick. Not like – not like this. Once she gets out, well, if need be she can and would fight again in a heartbeat. But mostly… mostly she just wants to rest.

Being sent to the End of All Things isn’t the only way for gods to die – but it is the easiest and most common!

Stranger things is about mental health & trauma- deal with it!

I’ve seen a lot of people claim anyone who mentioned this topic immediately be gaslit and told they’re “just crazy” and “rudely projecting their own issues on to the characters.’ Like- no you don’t have to believe my  Will DID/Lonnie theory ( I could be wrong). But to claim one of the show’s central themes isn’t about mental health/trauma (screams either complete lack of lit comprehension or denial cause you have your own negative biases towards such people). So let’s just go into what’s literal text-not subtext/symbolism. Just the super blatant stuff.  RIGHT IN THE SHOW!

-We have El when she first appears on screen  asked by Benny if her parents starved and hurt her and if that’s why she ran away. Benny then calls CPS to say El “may have been ab*sed or something.” After this Lucas says there is “seriously something wrong with her-wrong in the head. She’s probably from the NUT-HOUSE in curly county.penthurst” We also see El  cannonically has PTSD-all of s1 she’ll see something benign (a cat, a coke commercial, a closet) and is triggered to see a traumatic flashback. That’s literally ptsd.  There’s also hints throughout the seasons she’s developmentally behind in both language, telling time etc (neglect like El’s irl can cause an intellectual disability-analysis on El/that subject here).The real pethurst in pensylvannia (not the one in stranger things/ Curly county)  closed in 1986-  it was a facility for people and mostly  kids with intellectual disabilities (it wasn’t technically a psych facility like the one in st)-but it was infamous for it’s abuse of these intellectually disabled patients kept there. We also have Brenner be a ab*sive psychiatrist.

- Hopper after suffering from the loss of his daughter. Is popping pills like candy, drinking and smoking constantly. He later says he used to hallucinate and forgot what was real -seeing and hearing sarah and says if he didn’t confront the pain he’d “fall down a black hole he couldn’t get out of.” NO... subtext here about what the void represents nope.

- Both mothers (Terry & Joyce) are dismissed as being mentally ill and simply grieving the loss of their kids . But both end up being right about the supernatural.

- “Terry pretends Jane is real. i mean it’s all make believe. you know the doctors all say it’s a coping mechanism.”

- While with Joyce the whole town pre s1 already questioned her mental health. Jonathan says “She used to have anxiety problems (pre s1).” And Jonathan, Hopper, and Lonnie all assume she’s hallucinating: talking to Will via lights, seeing a man without a face, saying Will’s body is fake -due to grief. Plus Lonnie mentions the fact Joyce’s aunt Darlene also used to hallucinate as a possible reason  (terry’s aunt also had mental health issues mentioned in s2 by Becky). Lonnie even says everything Joyce is seeing  is “all in her head.”  Hopper and Jon both say she needs to sleep and accept reality and Lonnie says she needs to see a “shrink”.  Hopper “i’m not saying that you’re crazy”. Joyce : “no, you are.” Joyce also says to Lonnie “Stop looking at me like that... like everyone else like i’m out of my damn mind.” Hopper also says about Joyce she’s “on the edge”. Callahan says in response , “she’s been on the edge for a while now” (referring to her mental health- even before Will’s dissappearance)”. While Lonnie says Jonathan is “feeding into her hallucinations ... you’re going to push her right over the edge.” In s2 Hopper says “ I think everyone is on edge- you, me, Will most of all. (when talking about Will’s ptsd/trauma)” 

- in s1 They claim Will just “fell” over the edge of the quarry’s cliff. Later the only other queer coded character (Mike) jumps off the quarry cliff (where Will’s body was found) cause the homophobic troy forced him too jump. Troy even says earlier dead-Will is “flying with all the other fairies all happy and gay” (to Mike). And Troy says to Hopper El made Mike “fly” after jumping off the cliff. Friendship saved him from jumping off the edge metaphorically ( and he’ll prob eventually be happy and gay too).

s2/3

-Will is seeing a therapist . And we are told he has ptsd and will experience the anniversary effect, personality changes,nightmares, having episodes, etc. And things “will get worse before they get better”.  Mike also asks if what Will is seeing is “real or like the doctors say all in your head?” And Will continues to see hallucinations of the mf/upsidedown that only he can see initially.

-Hopper also agrees with owens mentioning how he knew guys with ptsd . joyce : “it’s not like he’s describing a nightmare. He talks about them like they’re real.” Hopper: “Yeah, because they’re not nightmares they’re flashbacks.I think he’s right about trauma.I think everyone is on edge (bringing that s1 ref back), Me you, Will, most of all.Nothing’s gonna go back to the way that it was. But it’ll get better.In time.”

-Nancy suffers from survivor’s guilt and drunkingly says she killed Barb. Jonathan says like Nancy he has “a weight that you that carry all the time . i feel it too.” (cough depression). He also says he tries to be there for Will but says about Will “he’s not the same. maybe things can’t go back to the way they were. (mirroring Hopper’s words earlier that season)”

-Jonathan said in s1 Joyce had “anxiety issues” than Nancy says in s3 “you really are your mother’s son... you worry too much.” Then we see him look worried after the comment.

- in s2, Axel & a scientist both call El and Will “schizos” because of their powers. In s3 mrs driscoll isn’t believed about the supernatural cause she’s schizophrenic-but like Joyce/Terry was right.

- Kali saves a woman named Dottie (a british slang term for crazy)  from a mental hospital and then compares herself and El to dottie. saying her non-powered gang is “Like us ...outsiders... society discarded them.”  In graphitti we even see the title “obedlam” a british poem about discarding the mentally ill and leaving them homeless.  El before this sees a mentally ill man screaming ��we’re all dead!” Kali’s friend says to El, after this encounter they were “dead all of us” until kali “saved them here” (points to head) “and here” (points to heart). Pointing to the theme of love and friendship helping those with such issues. Similar to the cliff analogy.

-The cycle of ab*se. Max in s2 says she’s afraid of becoming like Billy (her ab*ser). We see Billy mimic his ab*ser neil and inflict pain on max. In s3 we see the roots of his behavior are linked to mimicking Neil- Neil in a flashback says  about baseball “what are you scared?”  “ did i raise a p*ssy for a son”. So young Billy later in a fight says to a boy “ what are you scared to fight me? fight me p*ssy. (as he beats the boy)” Deflecting his anger of his father on to someone else. In s3, We see as a kid he used to say to Neil “don’t hurt her” (his mom)-specifically after  Neil backhand slaps her -but we later see possessed Billy backhand slap Max (just like neil).  The resentment to his mother leaving - festered into how he views women and max negatively . And his attraction to mrs wheeler prob is linked to him subconsciously missing his mother. Max in s2 even says  he can’t take it out on her mother so he does so to her instead (we even have Billy hallucinate hurting mrs wheeler).We see in s2 the cycle of abuse is there- Billy mimics Neil, and then Max mimics Billy. Billy harrasses Max and yells “SAY IT!” (mimicking Neil).  Max like Billy later  yells “SAY IT” and uses a bat /violence to stand up for herself against Billy- which earlier she said she was trying to combat … explaining she can be angry like Billy sometimes but she never wants to be like him (her nickname symbolizing this: aka ‘mad max’).  Billy’s last dying words were an apology to Max- for becoming her neil. And we hopefully will see Max break this cycle.

- Will says his now memories (that he describes like dreams) are “growing “, “spreading “,and “killing”. While Kali says they need to face their father and (as Brenner) says El has to confront her “wound” or else it’ll “grow”, “spread” and “eventually it’ll kill her.” Kali says she used to be like El . She used to bottle her pain away and it “spread.” But she then says  “I confronted my pain and I finally began to heal (from those wounds).” We also see with jonathan and nancy when describing “shared trauma” zoom in onto the scars on their hands. The wound heeled into a scar so to speak.

S2 & 3 ENDINGS

both have Hopper do a speech that delves into dealing with trauma/depression but still finding good along the way.

-s2 Hopper outside the snowball: “how are you holding up? Yeah, that feeling never goes away. It is true what they say, you know. Everyday it does get easier.”

-s3 Hopper monolouge : “ Feelings jesus. For so long, i’d forgotten what those even were. I’ve been stuck in one place,in a cave you might say , a deep dark cave (cough s2 supernatural cave). For the first time in a long time, i started to feel things again. I started to feel happy. Life... yeah sometimes it’s painful .sometimes it’s sad, and sometimes it’s suprising... happy.. And when life hurts you, because it will .remember the hurt . The hurt is good. It means you’re out of that cave.”

BUT YES- St has nothing to do with mental health/trauma, we’re just “crazy” and “projecting”. It’s not like some of ya’ll  act pompous when you just have a bias and get pissy at the idea of relating to characters you “other” as “crazy” or “damaged” irl or anything (so attack people for pointing it out). Or (benefit of the doubt) you are just like.... oblivious... or just a kid who doesn’t know better XD

You mean like...headcanons for their relationship/Demetri and Eli in general? Sure, I’ll take a stab at this! I have a bunch of miscellaneous headcanons for them anyways and have been looking for a place to put them, may as well post them here.

Fair warning that this is a bit of a disorganized mishmash of stuff I’ve thought up for them myself, headcanons I’ve seen others in the fandom make for them, and tropes that I’ve seen in fanfic that I really liked, so I kinda stole them to add to my own personal headcanon XD I may not be able to source all of them if asked...some of them I’m like “I genuinely don’t remember where I saw that, but I HELLA liked it” lol

~Demetri is like...RIDICULOUSLY good at coding. Eli is good at it too, but Demetri basically singlehandedly carried that coding competition they won. It was really more of a 70-30 effort, but Demetri consistently gives Eli 50% of the credit to try and help him feel good about himself and his capabilities. Demetri knows he did a bit more work than Eli, but he’s never once brought it up and he doesn’t plan to.

~Demetri looooooves cats. Like...the pretentiousness? The heightened sense of self-importance? The way they’re kinda misunderstood and often disliked because they can be mean, and don’t always show affection in the way people expect? The general air of annoyance and disdain they give off??? Demetri’s just like “yep, this is my animal right here.” XD Demetri doesn’t DISLIKE dogs, but he finds they can be a bit much sometimes, and likes that cats do their own thing a lot of the time.

~After getting the Hawk moniker, Eli lowkey got SUPER into hawks and birds of prey in general. Like he started watching documentaries on them and everything, and gushing to Demetri about how badass he thought they were. It even kinda verges into special interest territory (since Hawk/Eli is canonically probably autistic), although it’s not as all-consuming as some of his other ones. Back when he and Demetri are still on good terms, in the early days of “Hawk,” Eli rambles to Demetri about hawks and other “badass” birds a LOT when they’re hanging out. Eli only does this when he’s alone with Demetri because he’s a little scared to show THAT level of enthusiasm to anyone else, considering he’s trying to be a “tough guy” now. Demetri he still feels he can essentially be all of himself with, though. Demetri finds this new raptor obsession kind of hilarious but also kind of endearing.

~Demetri has a single mom who is lowkey overprotective and ends up coddling and sheltering him a lot. Demetri’s dad left when he was little, and his mom can be a bit overbearing because Dem is all she has left of his dad, in a sense. Because of this, Demetri definitely did NOT tell his mom Eli was the one who broke his arm. He said it was “some goon” from Cobra Kai, and said Eli wasn’t even there among the group that day. He knew if his mom knew Eli broke his arm, she would NEVER let Eli near him again, and would probably get a restraining order and possibly press charges. And Demetri just...REFUSES to give up on Eli, even after everything. He figures Kreese’s brainwashing and Kyler being in Cobra Kai are already putting Eli through a special kind of hell, and he wants to protect him from having even MORE things to deal with--in this case, the wrath of Demetri’s mom. And she never finds out Eli broke his arm--Demetri takes it to the grave.

~A little while after the Christmas party, Demetri and Eli resume their weekly sleepovers and try to make up for lost time. They decide not to pull out Eli’s Waterbed from storage, considering they both have pretty unpleasant associations with the waterbed after the incident at Moon’s party. They end up just sharing Demetri’s bed, like they used to when they were little and it wasn’t “weird” yet for two boys to sleep in the same bed. Maybe it’s weird now, but they figure as long as Demetri’s mom doesn’t blab to their friends or something that they’re sharing a bed, then it’s cool. Neither has any issue at all with sharing a bed, although they caaaaaan’t quite put their finger on why that is XD

~Eli actually gets nightmares about the laser tag arm incident more often than Demetri does. The fight will play out in a thousand different ways, but it always ends the same--with Eli pinning Demetri down and snapping his arm. Worse, sometimes he’ll have dreams that he’s beating up Brucks again, and then Brucks will slowly morph into Demetri, but Eli won’t be able to stop punching. He frequently wakes up panicking and screaming and crying during his and Demetri’s sleepovers, and Demetri just holds him and sooths him and wipes his tears off and reassures him that he knows Eli’s never going to hurt him again. 

~I actually imagine it’s on a night like one of these that they first get together--Eli wakes up from another nightmare, and Demetri is just hugging him really close and trying to reassure him, and at some point, Demetri just...impulsively leans in and kisses him. They both get super flustered for a second, and then Eli leans in and kisses Demetri super fiercely and before they know it, they’re making out like there’s no tomorrow. When they have to stop for breath, they admit they’ve always liked each other and just weren’t really sure how to say it. They spoon for the rest of the night, and are pretty much officially dating after that, although they’re kinda anxious about what people will think, so they keep it on the DL at first.

~Demetri has bad dreams too, but his are usually current--e.g. Eli reveals it was All An Act and he’s been spying for Cobra Kai, and doesn’t actually give a shit about Demetri. When Demetri wakes up from these at their sleepovers, he often can’t help but shake Eli awake, and rattle off a bunch of paranoid questions--”You actually like me, right? You actually wanted to be friends again, right? You don’t think I’m annoying? You don’t secretly hate me, after everything?” And this always kind of alarms Eli at first, because of how...out-of-character it is for Demetri to be that self-conscious about what people think about him, and for him to actally...well...care if people think he’s annoying XD But after a little bit Eli just puts his hand on Demetri’s shoulders and says “Demetri, I promise I want you back in my life.” And this is usually enough to calm Demetri down, because he knows it’s genuine, just like Eli’s apology at the Christmas party was.

~Eli is really, really terrified of hurting Demetri again. Sometimes Eli gets panic attacks when he and Demetri are sparring and he hits Demetri a little too hard. Demetri’s kind of come up with a “signal” for Daniel to indicate he and Eli need to take a break. Once Daniel figures out the situation, he’s more than happy to oblige. Demetri always helps Eli through his panic attacks and reassures him that he trusts him with his life now, no matter what happened before. 

~When Johnny finds out about this, he’s actually...way more understanding than anyone expects him to be, because Kreese traumatized him when he was young, too. He just kind of sighs like “Yeah, Kreese made me do some fucked up shit too, back in the day. He’s a bastard like that. You take a 10 whenever the hell you need, Hawk.” And honestly? Demetri lowkey loves Johnny for this. This may be the turning point that finally causes Demetri to view Johnny Lawrence with something other than mild to moderate disdain XD

~Demetri often makes a point of kissing Eli’s scar and telling him he thinks it’s beautiful. Hella corny, I know, but god knows Eli needs it. He kisses it in front of their friends, too, as kind of a way to reassure Eli “hey, I’m proud to be with you in your entirety, and I’m not at all ashamed of that aspect of you, even if you still are.” Eli definitely appreciates this, but he pretends he’s embarrassed by it and will often fall into a blushing, flustered mess when Demetri kisses his scar XD

Okay, so you mentioned that Wild was another favorite... Headcanons please? [Watch me just keep doing this until I see every single boy get headcanons XD]

Yeah so I'm just gonna keep doing these lol. Let's see if I can get through all the boys by the end of the weekend.

Wild Headcanons!

As before, here’s the giant mis-mash of canon/LU canon/fanon/headcanon that I use for writing Wild.

Genderfluid. Defaulted to ‘he’ after waking up because it’s what everyone around him assumed, got slapped in the face in Gerudo Town with how good it felt to be called ‘she.’ Zelda knows to use ‘she’ when Wild is dressed a certain way, but it’s Hyrule who brings up the idea of being gender neutral and Warriors who introduces them both to the term ‘genderfluid’ and to using ‘they’ as a pronoun. Basically, Wild is slowly collecting pronouns like candy and it’s very exciting. They can’t wait to share the new things they’ve discovered on the topic and how they think it applies to them with Zelda; she’ll be just as happy about it as they are. Still mostly defaults to ‘he’ out of a combination of habit and continuing to figure out good signals for when their pronouns change, but that is shifting as time goes on.

Functionally aro/ace, at least for now. He’s focusing on rediscovering who he is and establishing familial and platonic relationships. Will probably hit one hell of an experimental phase before too much longer.

Wild’s journey/story arc is largely one of experimentation and self discovery. Curiosity is the driving force behind most of the decisions he makes. (Along with just having fun. Wild loves to have fun.)

Adventure buddies with Hyrule. They pretty much bonded instantly over their shared love of exploration and nature.

Has lots of similarities with Wind even though they don’t see eye to eye on certain topics. (Kings of Hyrule, anyone?) When Wild is feeling their silliest or just needs to have some fun to let off steam, Wind is the one they turn to.

Slightly intimidated by Warriors and Sky. Warriors seems a model knight, something Wild feels he failed to be and maybe even slightly resents. Sky also talks about being in the Knight Academy, and of course there was the whole thing with the Master Sword. Wild very much does not want Sky to get mad at him again. Nobody likes it when Sky is mad at them.

Obviously has strong familial feelings towards Twilight, and by extension Time

Has sass, generally more positive than Legend but not afraid to throw hands

Occasionally has depressive episodes and the memory-flashbacks

Wild doesn’t actually cook all the groups’ meals. He’s not the only one who is competent around a cook pot, he’s just the most passionate about it. And also the one who keeps most of the group’s food, given the slate’s ability to keep food fresh.

Wild is in fact very frustrated and somewhat humiliated by the shitty quality of his weapons, now that he’s seen enough of the others to know that none of them have the same issues with stuff just breaking as he does. Knowledge of how to care for and maintain weapons was not one of the things that carried over from his previous life, plus he keeps doing things like hitting frigging rocks with his blades. The others are slowly teaching him better.

Adrenaline. Junkie.

Thinks of their past self as a stranger who happened to inhabit their body. Had anxiety-induced muteness pre-calamity, began talking again after they woke up. They did retain sign language. Will occasionally default to it if their throat is paining them.

Has a bit of a rasp due to vocal chord damage that the shrine didn’t quite fix all the way; his voice starts to get tired if he does a lot of talking. The scars sometimes cause him mobility issues. The masseuse in gerudo town gave him oil for them and taught him how to massage the tissue to help, but he tends to forget to do it.

Hair is constantly tangled. He takes a stab at brushing it most days but not nearly thoroughly or often enough to keep it from turning into a horrible rats nest.

Is it gonna be fun? Great it’s a good idea let’s go.

Considers basically everybody in his Hyrule to be his family. Has adopted family in pretty much every race, village, and stable. His Hyrule loves him and he loves them back. Kass and Teba are like dads. Riju is his BFF and fellow pun enthusiast. The villagers of Hateno are especially protective of both him and Zelda once she comes to live with him there. There’s Impa and Dorian in Kakariko. Sidon and Paya are both potential Significant Other material if he ever becomes interested in that stuff. He gets fussed over in all the stables, greeted with enthusiasm in Tarrey Town and with the Gorons… Most of the citizens of his Hyrule don’t have any association between him and what happened 100 years ago, they just know him as the person who made things better this time.

Falls into a sibling relationship with their Zelda post-adventure. Neither of them have any interest in restoring the system that failed both of them so badly, especially after all the time that has elapsed. Zelda is quite happy with the opportunity to just be herself, exploring and experimenting and re-establishing relationships of her own.

One of the more religious of the group. He prays and leaves offerings at every statue, in every temple. Wild’s Hyrule has very active spirits and a large variety of religions, both ancient and current. (Hylia, the little ancestor statues all over the place, the dragons, the Gerudo seven, Malanya…) Wild’s personal experience has been that paying basic respects leads to good things (finding Koroks, increases in health and stamina, someone watching out for his horses…)

Wild takes lots of pictures, not just of people but of places and plants and animals. He’s recording his travels to show Zelda when he gets home. He knows she would kill him if he didn’t.

Got A LOT of asks about Wu and Garmadon and their shapeshifting in Ninjago Respun so heres a BIG answer instead

[spoilers for canon Ninjago lore, and minor spoilers for Respun lore since I’ll gradually explain this all in canon anyway. Only read this if you are DYING to know I guess?] [Whenever I say “we’ll talk about that later” that basically means I won’t talk about that further even if you ask, sorry D: Gotta wait for the comic to address that.] CONTEXT: The First Spinjitzu Master was SOOO strong. He was NOT supposed to exist, not just because of the eternal war between Oni and Dragon, but because sex between the two does NOT usually yield any Baby?! (Plus some other reasons ill talk about later). So like. Woaaah wtf? So.... that one baby? The First Spinjitzu Master? Yeah, he is a god! All the powers that dragons and oni have? He has them, and more.

SOME FIRST SPINJITZU MASTER DETAILS:

Dragons usually only have titles for names, so “First Spinjitzu Master” is literally his name.

He is immortal.

Oni are shapeshifters with no defined form. Dragons are shapeshifters too, but to a lesser extent (we’ll talk about that later). So the First Spinjitzu Master is a shapeshifter too. And so, humans are literally the fursona of the FSM.

He can create shit like its no big deal. He made the land, the plants, the animals, the people, the elements -- he made *almost* EVERYTHING in the realm of Ninjago (we’ll talk about that later).

Some aspects of Ninjago’s many cultures came from the First Spinjitzu Master -- from Oni and Dragon -- but other parts developed independently. In the Oni-Dragon language, “he” is a pronoun referring to Oni, and “she” is a pronoun referring to Dragons. There are other things too but that would take A LONG TIME to talk about... moving on...

HISTORY OF WU AND GARMADON’S SHAPESHIFTING AND ONI-DRAGON HERITAGE BIRTH | YEAR 0: So, the immortal Oni-Dragon named the First Spinjitzu Master, aka: God, decided to create people for his cool awesome realm. He wanted humans to be different from himself, but he also wanted a couple people who were just like him that could continue his legacy. He wanted people who could forever defend what he created. So he just mpregged himself and made two kids! Lying: He summoned them into existence, no pregnancy involved, sorry. Cries. The first he created was named Garmadon (named by himself), and the second he created was named Wu (named by his dad like a loser HAHA). Garmadon was born (created) in late winter, and Wu was born (created) in early summer. Wu and Garmadon are biologically identical to their father, half Oni, half Dragon, and immortal. But they are not as powerful as him. Beings equally strong as himself would be impossible for the FSM to create. His sons don’t have the same creation powers as him, but they have the same Oni and Dragon abilities. When Wu was born (created), Garmadon instantly chose to look almost identical to Wu. He previously had a different form that the First Spinjitzu Master designed for him, but fuck that (we call this becoming the realm of Ninjago’s first transgender person). At birth they looked and acted like they were around 3 years old. CHILDHOOD | YEARS 0-30: Wu and Garmadon’s physical forms are a conscious decision, but are also affected by their subconscious mental states. This caused them to age like MOSTLY like a normal child would... just a BIT slower. They also interacted mostly with people the same age as them, and chose to age like they did (we’ll talk more about this later). Garmadon got bit by the Great Devourer when he was 7. His eyes would look like he is really high sometimes (glow red) because of the curse, unrelated to shapeshifting. He also has a scar on his arm from the bite and the venom. It is usually very hard to scar an Oni/Dragon, but it was a powerful, long-term, magical wound. The bite caused him to become soooooooo angry and evil that he made up a Oni-persona because Onis look evil and cool. The two of them were always distracted by exploring the world, rather than questioning who they were. They just knew their father was from “outside the realm” and “half oni, half dragon.” They knew he and they could live forever, while others couldn’t, and knew they could shapeshift, while others couldn’t. But they never questioned him further, like.... they didn’t really care lol. Around 30 they looked/acted like they were around 15 years old (around 30 is when they met Aspheera btw). TEENAGE YEARS/YOUNG ADULTHOOD | YEARS 30-70: More adventuring and not caring about who they are. On one adventure, Wu got “crucified” by a village of people, Breaking-Wheel-Style on a Dharmachakra, while Garmadon watched and laughed. Eventually Wu and Garmadon met this woman on their adventures. [[Ninjago spoilers, cough cough --mystaké, --cough cough]]. She cryptically explained a few things: Dragon and Oni were at war in the past, Dragons create, Oni destroy, and currently the two species are dispersed across the realms. Wu and Garmadon’s father got mad at this lady for spilling all these beans, so she shut up about the dragon and oni shit, but still guided them in other ways for many many many many many many many many years to come. Around age 60, Wu and Garmadon looked about 30 years old. Their father passed on when they were 60, and the brothers began to diverge in the way they physically looked. Prior to this, they were near identical and relatively normal looking. My dearest apologies to those of you who love sexy 30 year old sensei Wu, buuuttttttttt, over the next decade, Wu became eldercore and wisdompilled as fuck. Meanwhile, Garmadon became a ripped 7′0 hottie (smh), who SLOWLY got older over centuries, paralleling Misako’s age. We’ll talk about Misako later. We’ll obviously talk a LOT more about the banishment event later, ofc. Garmadon gets #pissed and so #fuck #anger #kill that he turns into his four-armed oni-persona. Wu and Garmadon know dragons. Wu hid the four golden weapons so Garmadon could never get them, and had dragons guard them. He is actually pretty tight with these dragons. They’re his friends. They were friends with Garmadon too. In the “Pilot”, “Weapons of Destiny”, Wu could’ve stopped these dragons from fighting the Ninja, but he wanted to test his students lmao. As for Oni, Wu and Garmadon (believe they) have never met a full-Oni. UP TO THE CURRENT DAY | YEAR 610. Most of Ninjago’s people know nothing about Oni and Dragons. Oni and Dragons are just mythological, often dismissed as fake. They don’t know Wu, Garmadon, and the First Spinjitzu Master are related to Oni and Dragon at all. Their origin doesn’t need explanation to most citizens. People just think, “Oh, The FSM, Master Wu, and Lord Garmadon? You mean God, Jesus, and Evil Jesus?” (Of course, the “Jesus” part is COMPLETELY non-diegetic, and they don’t actually call them that. They don’t know wtf Jesus is). I could go off about religion in Ninjago, but don’t get me started lol XD So, in conclusion, we got two immortal half-dragon-half-oni idiots that are worshipped by the average citizen. Wu is purposefully eldercore, and Garmadon is purposefully a ripped 7′0 oni-persona hottie. Post that explains rules of oni-dragon shapeshifting. That’s the lore at the moment. Any thoughts?
