25. What was your first impression of Moana and Maui?

I think I had not expected the "tragic backstory" for Maui, which was what pulled me to liking the character. I was kind of scared I wasn't going to like him due to him being voiced by The Rock. (But honestly, the character of Maui has made me appreciate the Rock more too.)

As for Moana, I was drawn to her emotional intelligence and her sense of responsibility. I also like her quirky side.

26. What’s something the character has done you can’t get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?

Maui peeing on Moana's hand has me shaking my head every time. Also him singing to the ancestor's to bring her back. They're on opposite ends of a spectrum. XD

Moana taking on Te Ka all by herself was impressive as hell. Brave girl!

Random question: What would I tell Maui and Moana if I could tell them anything at all?

Don't split up for over half of the next movie, please, stick together, the scenes where it's the two of them together are always most fun. :-)

7. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? (in regards to Maui)

I like that there are quite a few people in the fandom that make Maui demisexual. A demisexual demigod! It's what I prefer doing in my fics too, though I've experimented with a few different sexualities as well. I'm just happy that I'm not the only one that thinks of him that way.

I also have to say - Disney has a tendency to make a lot of their characters ace the past decade or so. Where ye olde Disney (in the 1990s) had all main characters fall in love, new disney seems allergic to love. It is not a surprise that a lot of characters appear ace or demisexual then.

8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? (in regards to Moana)

Gosh, tough one... I struggle to think of anything.

Oh okay! There's one thing that used to piss me off a lot, but which I haven't seen much of lately.

Back in 2016 there were a lot of artists that would draw Moana almost looking white. In some cases I think it came from people that had never drawn a person of color, and in other cases just because people in Asian countries were applying western-indoctrinated beauty standards to Moana. I feel like in the 8 years since, it's gotten a lot better. Which is great. In those arts Maui also sometimes looked much darker than Moana in comparison, which is odd cause this is what they look like in the movie:

For Moana ATLA AU: So, we know that sailing is still a thing in this AU (obviously), but does Moana already know how to sail in your AU, or does she still need to be taught to sail? Or does her waterbending come into play somehow here?

And, how do they even get into the spirit world in the first place?

Certainly! I'll try to keep the answers brief-ish or else this is going to be a looooong post.

Do I daydream a lot before writing? A bit, yes. For my longer fics, certainly. But with shorter fics I sometimes just dive right in and see where inspiration takes me.

6. What's the last line I wrote? (FYI - not for Dance of the Demigods in case you were wondering)

Tamatoa laughed. “Well, to be honest, I’m not used to visiting the people of Motunui either, so the feeling’s mutual.” As he held out his pincer towards Moana, he indicated the portal with his head. “Shall we?”

13. Do I listen to music while I write and what have I been listening to most recently?

Yes, most of the times I do. I've got a playlist with instrumental Moana music which I use for The Dance of the Demigods, I've got a playlist for Planet Crafters already (link here) and the other day I was writing a lot of Tamatoa stuff and listening to the soundtrack for the Road to El Dorado. Somehow the songs about wealth and gold really worked for him.

35. What's your favourite fic you've posted?

These last 3 questions are really hard. It is a bit like choosing between your children. Out of my finished ones, let's go for Love is Just a Game, which was the first Hooked Wayfinder fic I finished. Because of that it holds a special place in my heart. I really do love me a modern AU.

36. What fic are you proudest of?

The Dance of the Demigods and its sequel which will be published straight after DotD is done. I have yet to write about 5 chapters (I estimate) for DotD and the end is really really difficult, I'm progressing slower than I'd like and am at a point where I'm like "wait don't forget about Matangi" XD I still need to put her in there somewhere and my initial plan for her is not working out well. Anyways, stopping myself there before I'm off on a 1000-word rant about it.

37. What fic has been the hardest for you to write?

The final chapters of Dance of the Demigod are really hard on me currently. But I think Our Future Together was probably harder since I abandoned it. I had an idea for it, but as I was headed towards it, some folks in comments expressed very strong dislike for that idea, which kind of knocked me off course. It killed the momentum I had with writing and then I just stopped writing it. Not proud of it and think I might return to the story one day... After Dance of the Demigods is done. Cause I do think it's got some really good angst. (Better angst than my other stories)

61. In Dance of the Demigods, what’s your favorite scene that you wrote?

Sorry for not responding earlier, saw you sent this one several hours ago but wanted to give it a think. I think the next chapter has some of my favourite scenes so far. The chapter after that as well. So eh - you want a sneak peak, do you?

The title of the chapter will be "A girl and her pet" - and you might be able to guess which two characters it will be about... (If not, you can tell from this bit.)
