I don’t mean to sound like a bitch, but all the Adora x catra edits on TikTok as of late really are annoying me, because like what do you mean we all just forgot how abusive catra was when literally everybody was discussing it 2 years ago

Who’s worse: The Owl (Helluva Boss) or The Cat (SPOP)
TW R*PE MENTION
The owl. I don't like the cat, but the owl is a fucking r*pist. The cat may technically be worse since she attempted to destroy the world but she does get sympathy points for her past and being rather young. The owl is a grown ass man and I think he's implied to have a bad dad but that's it

I gotta take a moment to thank all the spop anti blogs and their runners
Y’all created a safe haven for all of us to criticize SPOP, to vent about our feelings about the show and I am very grateful.
Additionally a lot of the points made in posts helped me writing my own critique video. Would you like if I mention you guys in the end card or a pinned YT comment?

@spopsalt @catra-slander-club @acephysicskarkat
@verdantsyren (I will briefly mention the problems surrounding Catra’s haircut)

Hi! (If you want to, you can tag your spop critical friends. I would love to see everyone's opinions!!)
So well I'm rewriting She Ra (taking inspo from both Spop and the OG) and I was wondering what you would like to see!! :)
(specifically from Adora and her arc, but can be anything)
Some things:
Adora and Catra will be sisters.
I'll redesign most characters
Adora will be POC (polynesian inspired, I think). If any of you are POC, help is appreciated because I am white. Will definitely use @writingwithcolor to make sure I'm not falling into stereotypes.
Catra will get a redemption arc, but will stay in the Horde up until season 4.
Oh and I'll scrap Mara completely. Adora will be the first She Ra :)
I'll probably also scrap Horde Prime (cause that arc is messy)
Sorry for the messy question, I'm not good at this!! Any help would be appreciated <2
that sounds great honestly! your ideas so far are pretty solid, i'm interested to see how it goes!
also i'm not polynesian but i am poc, so feel free to ask me if you need any tips or help! good luck with your rewrite!!

Random silly AU idea: What if “She-Ra” took place in the Renaissance-era Holy Roman Empire and thus Catra and Adora grew up in a convent and were raised with the expectations of becoming nuns…only for Adora to run off to become a sapphic knight errant and Catra pursuing her?
Given how I can't speak truthfully of the kind of agency a Renissacne Holy Roman Empire Nun would have, I'm having a hard time envisioning Catra being a nun, let alone with carte blanche to hunt down her rogue Sister. As I understand it, being a nun is about being separate from the world in your convent or cloister. To have one nun leave it (abandoning her duty to God) seems like it would be something the order would condemn but no actively try and pursue - at most, I could see slandering the knight-errant's name (and possibly causing that to backfire as a she becomes a folk-hero?), but having [EDIT] as you described?
Perhaps it's a more militant, fictionalized order? Or the nuns do healing duties on knights after battles, and Catre still keeps running into Adora, and getting angry at her while tending her wounds? I just see Catra as so much more of a rebellious fighter, and I find that at odds with my conceptions of Catholic nuns.

yk what fine, lets play their game
their are many other truamatised woman or colour with one of them being autistic
so why tf arent they talked about more? Why is it always catra centric as if shes the only truamatised woc (who doesnt even have bpd canon wise)
Its just irritating seeing people use poc, truama and mental illness/mental developmental disorder (if thats the correct term to use) as a shield to defend their favourite fictional character. What they are isnt an excuse for WHO they are especially when they truamatised other woc (because most of the characters i listed are whom catra truamatised)
me: kyle deserved better
spop stans: OH so you just care about the stupid white boy huh?? you think he's better than a traumatized woc with bpd?? you disgusting, racist and ableist piece of shit, you are definitely white and neurotypical for you to say all that crap! catra never did anything wrong, she was abused and (extremely long essay of Why Catra Matters)
#also i agree with you on kyle he deserves so much better#it doesnt matter that hes white he still got bullied with some characters like scorpia and bow acting ooc just because#the day they stop using peoples identities as shields is the day ill be at peace#kyle deserves better#catra critical#catra slander

I have three questions for SPOP fans:
Do you think Catra is a morally gray villain or anti-hero-isc character? If so, why?
If you don't think she's a morally gray or anti-hero hero character, why do you think some people do?
This next question is just for the few people who believe Catra’s redemption arc is better than Zuko's from ATLA.
Why do you think Catra’s redemption arc is better than Zuko's?
(I'm putting this in the Catra tag because I'm just genuinely curious. No slander.)

i’m just gonna point this out here because i feel like i need to.. but anyway,
sometimes i really feel like people only like Adora because she’s She-Ra
but i know for a fact that Catra loved Adora for HER, and not because she’s She-Ra. Catra didn’t look at Adora and saw She-Ra, she saw Adora. like Catra wasn’t like "oh my gf is an 8-foot-tall warrior, i suddenly love her more" no. cos like i said before, Catra loves Adora for HER
but what pisses me off a bit is that in Season 1, Bow and Glimmer become friends with Adora whenever she became She-Ra, bla bla bla
like it felt like as soon as people found out that Adora was She-Ra, they started to like her. but what if they like her as She-Ra, but not Adora?
please don’t attack me for this, this is just my opinion. if you disagree and feel like i’m wrong, just scroll and get on with your day :)
oh and btw, Adora & Catra slander is NOT accepted on my blog. so don’t bother please, just don’t

Imagine getting upset over someone slandering Catra- these stans need to go outside, hope you don’t take their shitty words to heart /gen
aww, thank you!
don't worry, i'm fine! if anything, i find it funny and if i am upset, it's mainly because i'm thinking of the 'category' of people potentially being hurt by their words, so i try to respond in a way that either makes them laugh or helps them feel better.
but overall, i just find them hilarious and bizarre ^^

"Catra has every right to be mad at Adora because she left her"
Adora:
Adora never left Catra, she gave her every chance to come with Adora and she rejected every one, Adora never left Catra, she left the horde, she left an abusive environment, and that's a great decision.

absolutely fucking hilarious to me (aka i'm actually no joke mad whenever i think about it) that a "maligned" yuri bracket that as the creator admits started about lesser known or disliked femslash just about IMMEDIATELY derailed as soon as the creator allowed leniency for "oh well a lot of people seem under the impression that something is 'maligned' (synonyms: vilified, slandered, infamous) if its UNIVERSALLY FUCKING BELOVED by the fandom but the story itself gets in the way of it for reasons ranging from "author is a dipshit" (perhaps a valid reason to consider it maligned) to "its a fucking tragedy and the fact they can't just live happily is MEANT TO BE SEEN AS FUCKING SAD *YOU ARE THE DIPSHIT HERE*" so like, all these polls are just popularity anyway so who can say if "most popular out of a succession of lesser-known, shitty, not-shitty-but-people-act-like-it-is, etc" is any more meaningful than "literally just the most popular ship we put on the bracket. like you could've answered this without even doing the polls just go over the initial bracket and choose the most dedicated fanbase and extrapolate"" and now its just a succession of Farcille sweeping every single matchup despite the fact that i've never met a single fucking person worth caring about who actually dislikes it. like i assume the pervs who just write the usual isekai monster x innocent girl "fanart" (...did they even read it...?????? i kinda feel like they got maybe 2 volumes in lmao. fake fans) don't really care for it but who gives a shit about them they should die. its not unpopular in the slightest aside from *probably* i assume overexposure or the one sad little laios x marcille shipper sitting in the corner who doesn't simultaneously also ship farcille in that kinda wierd freudian-isn't-the-right-word way that makes my stomach churn. FUCK THESE SENTENCES BRO WHY DO I WRITE LIKETHIS ok i wrote ahead but didn't address a point bc i my skull turned off but- Farcille doesn't even get like, morality discoursed much??? Like theres always those ships out there which are popular but get picked apart for potential patterns of abuse or unhealthy behavior or if you *think* about it Adora and Catra were both raised by the same (nonconsentually adoptive) parental figure which can make it incest Which Is An Argument That I Struggle With Completely Disregarding Because Of The Subset Of Incest Shippers That Do In Fact Take It That Way (But As A Positive), y'know. that kinda shit. Not even getting into the cases where a ship is more unambiguously fucking bad on a morality standpoint fandom popular or not. I could use this opportunity to soapbox but I won't.
hell even some of the contestants that actually have some leg to stand on are still an ill fit - kyosaya is from Madoka, which means that while fans can feel whatever way they please there Is a certain malicious element to their existence which isn't just excusable as "part of the tragedy/conflict", but its STILL one of the two "heavy hitter" ships outta the original series's fanbase (i don't know dick all about magia record). HELL madohomu at least gets the "is there discourse about it being dysfunctional/abusive/one-or-the-other-involved-painted-as-a-predator" treatment, despite being like... THE relationship the series itself fucking circles around. idk maybe madohomu was in there and i didn't notice. still wouldn't really fit though (maybe back in 2014....)
anyways delia x jessie would belong on there more than like 90% of the bracket just for the "they're basically canon" sweep-kerfuffle (if they WERE in this bracket. lol lmao that'd be hilarious actually wonder who they lost to)
#zannies giant brain#apologies to what i presume is the vast majority of my mutualsbase who've only ever heard about this bracket#from me complaining about it

don't forget catra calling adora an idiot for not realizing that she was in love with her. like?? what was adora supposed to say? "i knew you loved me, even when you were constantly torturing, gaslighting and manipulating me, even when you almost killed me multiple times"
it's so crazy that catra expects adora to just know that she loves her, when all catra has done is make her life a living hell.
How she ra makes corridors not matter
You know corridors right? Its an episode meant to be the start of catras redemption, a key point in s5 for catradora and catra as a character as the show clearly focuses on both than the other (unfortunately) But heres the thing, its a start: Catra apologies to adora before getting chipped but then adora saved her which shes now in the rebellion, having to deal with consequences and the people shes hurt (which I'll get into that in another post) So how does her redemption develops?
Well....
Look, I can kinda see the defence of catra in taking control. Would it be better to see her try more? Yes though I can kinda let that slide if not for these scenes. Ill wind being the 4th episode before the finale and the rest are in the series finale. Shes still blaming adora for things she did (ill wind), shes still selfish, whining about adora not wanting her back when she harmed her throughout the show and its the time where shes sacrificing herself, possibly dying (heart pt1), still pissed off about adora leaving her (even when shes with the rebellion that were quickly forgiving and kind to her as they were to adora) in which that mindset made her the villain to begin with (also heart pt1) and dismisses her harmful actions to adora, expecting her to get that she loved her the whole time sooner even though again, she has harmed her throughout most of the show. Hey, remember this scene from corridors?
Or this scene?
Because it still seems like catra doesnt get the harm she caused, even though she pointed it out in corridors, her development was reverted back, she didnt actually change in the end and i highly doubt she was actually sorry for it otherwise she wouldnt be doing any of this shit. Now, whats the point in this? Well I see people defend catra by using corridors to prove that catra changed which given that i explained here how she didnt actually changed in the end: Why does that matter? She goes against what she said in the series finale with her love confession, she repeats the same toxic behaviour and she still has the mindset she had that made her a villain. So corridors was useless, what was even the point in catras redemption if your gonna still make her repeat the same behaviours-oh wait...
What a shame that the episode thats mean to start the character redeeming themselves go useless in the end. Not to mention, the ship thats been the most focused on in s5 turns out to be shitty due to the 'redeemed' character not even redeeming themselves in the end. How did this show get overhyped again?
