Thanks be to God who ordained us a great intercessor. Jesus in the agony of the cross prayed, "Father forgive them" *John 19:27*. Then he said to the disciple "here is your mother". From that moment human kind was gifted a safe haven, a refuge, the sheltering arms of a mother. One objective in the life of Jesus which he himself proclaimed, was to seek out that which was lost *(Luke 19:10)*. Jesus could not be more forth right when he said *(Matt. 9:13)*, "for I have come to call not the righteous but sinners." In bequeathing his mother to all humankind in the person of John, his beloved disciple, Jesus committed to his mother the continuation of his own mission of seeking out and saving the lost. How could we not advert to this generous and loving act of Jesus? We hail our lady as the refuge of sinners.. Nothing could stop her (even when the Dauphin decided to play a trick on her at their first meeting and chose one of his pages to pose as himself while he hid in the crowd. Joan walked straight up to the real Dauphin despite never having seen him before.) 2. She was sassy even during her trial (whenever she did want to answer a question during her trials she literally said “pass” and then went on talking about whatever the heck she wanted to) 3. She was her army’s Mom. (she basically had a swear jar for her soldiers’ filthy mouths, ran the prostitutes out of her camps, and sent her boys to confession before every battle) 4. She is rumored to have loved the Eucharist so much that she broke into a church’s monstrance and ministered to herself so she could receive (tone it back girl) 5. she survived an arrow to the chest??? 6. Her heart wouldn’t burn while the rest of her body was consumed by the flames (they dumped her ashes and heart into the river so they would be lost and no one could have relics to venerate—SO I KNOW YALL CORRUPT PEASANTS KNEW SHE WAS A SAINT!) 10. Nah fam, objective moral truths come from God and because God is unchanging so is His truth. Likewise, dogma, because it comes from the Holy Ghost can also never change BUT our understanding of it can grow. The testament to the truth of the church is that it's lasted 2000 years and she will be here until the end of times. We can draw such comfort and hope in this unchanging of the church even if this also attracts hatred from those who lack the roots to not be blown away in every storm. What an heart breaking mission after visiting the Little Sisters of the Poor here in Manila. These are abandoned elderly being taking care of by the catholic sisters whom many times have to go get it and beg for change to just buy bread and keep food and medicines available. One lady was 102 yrs old and wanted to hold my hand forever. They absolutely loved the knitted items and clothing items, hand made tote bags and the meal we (You the donors) provided. They didn’t allow photos but I was able to get one with the sister that allowed me to join all the seniors in the home with only fans. They have mass daily and working 24 hrs non stop. Very sad to hear news of the death of His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor. As most senior catholic clergy are he was highly respected and sometimes a controversial character but on the whole loved throughout the catholic family and the wider Christian community. I wrote to him many years ago when he was Archbishop of Westminster. He very kindly wrote back with some great worlds of advice. I still have the letter to this day. I have not long finished reading his latest book 'An English Spring' and was intended to write to him again to compliment him on such a fantastic and enlightening book. Sadly as the saying goes 'life got in the way' and I didn't manage to write that letter.
