(ep2) CAT3RBC1567-23092022-18012024
Transformation (full) -/- dysmorphic [video call]
"a pristine paintbrush design spanned from the interior of my elbow to the inside of my palm, a flurry of colorful floral patterns entwined with symbols I didn't recognize."
Daria's issues with her self-image + being an artist = The artist becomes the canvas, thanks Ink5oul!
Sounds like the tattooing process was INCREDIBLY painful, but there's no aftercare required! That's okay, more time for self-mutilation that way!
Also, the only memorable thing about Ink5oul being their tattoo? "an absolutely gorgeous floral serpent design running up their arm and into their neck that was so vivid it looked ready to slither off their skin and onto the chair." Real Looking Snake, tell me your secrets.

TMAGP 27 Speculation
This is a continuation of the CAT1,2,3 theory of Person, Place, and Thing
I’m also going to include previous episodes MAGP24, 25, and 26 as I haven’t included those yet in this theory.
So before I get to MAGP27, I want to quickly go through the previous three episodes because I think they’re pretty straight forward.
Episode 24
CAT1RBC1375-29022024-23042024 Baby (demonic) --/- Delusion (exhaustion)
CAT1 (person) - I think a lot of people who are for or against this theory think the direct subject is what the category would be referring to (I’ve seen arguments against saying that episode 1 for instance could be any of the three since a reanimated corpse could be a person or a thing and the cemetery is a place) but personally I think it’s whatever is causing the incident.
In episode 1 (CAT1), there was repeated mention of a person that promised they could bring the widows husband back, and did. For this episode, there was repeatedly a mention of a ‘health worker’ who showed up and kept reassuring the mother that her baby was normal and patched the mother up after feedings. Whoever this ‘healthcare’ worker was, they were the one taking care of the baby when the mother was too weak. I think this person is what the CAT1 label would be referring to, rather than the baby itself.
Episode 25
CAT2RB2474-07022024-24042024 Food (Gorging) --/- compulsion (disgust)
CAT2 (place) - this one’s pretty obvious since the place is a diner that serves rank food, I don’t really think there’s anything deeper here or confusing
Episode 26
CAT1RBC4463-14042024-02052024 Exhaustion (athletic) --/- compulsion (tape)
CAT1 (person) - Even with only seeing CAT1 and the title ‘catching up’ I assumed this episode would be about [ERROR]. It’s always cool when I can guess the topic before the episode even starts, which is one of the main reasons I think this theory is strong
Episode 27
CAT3RB5535-18021845-10052024 Kidnapping (carriage) -/- consumption [letter]
CAT3 (thing) - the ‘person’ driving the carriage isn’t real, it’s attached to the vehicle, “in that moment I saw without doubt that there was no border, no dividing line, no gap between the coachman and the coach. They were somehow as one.” So, this statement is not about a man of any kind, it’s about the carriage itself, a thing.
I’ve seen a few people say CAT3 would be objects specifically, but if nouns were only people, places, and objects then a significant portion of the world would no longer be categorized as nouns. Air is a noun, tattoo is a noun, music is a noun, and yet none of these are objects which is why I would say CAT3 would be things rather than physical objects specifically. Ink5ouls tattoos are things, the voice in Herr Schmidt’s head is a thing, a finance app is a thing, etc
Now, this episode also brought up another point from an earlier episode. Episode 07, Give and Take, is labelled CAT2 and people debunking this theory say the objects filling the storefront or the volunteers creating chaos should make the case either a CAT3 or a CAT1. I did think that was the most compelling argument against this theory, and it was weird to me that it hadn’t been labelled CAT3. However, after todays revelation that The Magnus Institute owns Hilltop Center (has since 1997, and currently still does) and the first volunteer specifically said he knew Hilltop Center “better than anyone”, I would say CAT2 proves that the location is what’s most important to this case and this category system is, so far, still accurate.
Tagging @shootingstars-or-airplanes because they’re who started this whole spiral for me lol

26/05/20 • tiny little catullus 50 attempt
remember, friend, our yesterday. our lazy words written in play, when we agreed we’d waste away resting in restless ease.
remember all the lines we wrote— the metre stuttered in my throat— you laughed. i memorised its note but couldn’t write it down.
and now i’m gone and you’re not here. all the world’s wit won’t bring you near and thoughts of you don’t disappear, not even in my dreams.
(as if I dream that much. at night i toss and turn and still the light illuminates your absence: bright and aching next to me.)

I've been keeping a spreadsheet of all of the Magnus Protocol case categorizations and I've just now found the first thread of a theory.
Tumblr media
In the selected column, you'll see each code starts with CAT 1, 2, or 3. We've just received our third CAT3 today. I assume CAT is category, and my suspicion is that they're categorized based on their relation to the Magnus Institute and/or Jonah Magnus, a higher number indicating more relevance. The only CAT 3s have been either about the Institute, or read by Augustus, who is heavily theorized to be Jonah himself. If this categorization is based on Magnus relevance, the OIAR must be linked to surveillance of specifically Magnus-related things, or that categorization wouldn't exist. The implications of this? Still up in the air. I'd be willing to bet though, that whatever we hear in next week's episode will be at Least category 3, though I'd love to see our first 4.

I think they count as hazard objects? Either they are, I can't really ask it in any other blogs.
I like to works with caves and quarries of various sort, and, you know, they're some... Quite not safe minerals out there, so, if object is this kind of mineral, would they be as dangerous for human approach, as they're non-living counterparts?
Like, I don't want to stumble upon cinnabar or curite, even with legs and hands, knowing it can just poison me with a little touch.
absolutely! while mineral objects in general are pretty rare, if you happen to stumble across an unfamiliar mineral object in a cave, it’s best to steer clear— especially if they look like a toxic material.

do you bear any pearls intended as a gift?
12663.235 - INTERNAL MESSAGE INQUIRY DETECTED LOCATING APPROPRIATE PEARL
A pearl. Light pink in coloration. It contains a poem.
512.113 - ART I lie inside your lavish chambers Your cushions are a comfort, yet There's something missing in this home Your absence leaves a gaping debt The councils say that I am mad For holding on to memories Yet memories are all they've had Qualia in plenties On your return, I wish to hold A ceremony for us two, For every moment that we've spent, My gentle resting next to you I send you this as an announcement; A promise to the world I swear to you that I will show The deep love that I keep furled I may not show it every moment, But I wish to make it known: My deep affection stays eternal, True in every bone. And when I die and decompose, The same in every stone. Shelter Built, Falling Leaves, To my Love, Three Seeds

Let's adress the case numbers in TMAGP !
Spoiler warning up to episode 19
Here are all the cases by categories and ranks :
CAT 1 :
MAGP 1 (Case 1) : 'Some of him' // RBC
MAGP 6 : Needles // RB
MAGP 10 : Bonzo // RB
MAGP 12 : Bonzo // RB
MAGP 14 : Snakes // RB
MAGP 15 : Lady Mowbray // RB
MAGP 16 : Ink5oul // RB
CAT 2 :
MAGP 18 : Corpse talking // RC
MAGP 19* : Newton's science project
MAGP 1 (Case 2)* : Red Canary // RAB
MAGP 3 : Guy who becomes a tree // C
MAGP 5 : Voyeur // RB
MAGP 7 : Charity shop // RC
MAGP 8 : Brutalist Architecture // RBC
MAGP 11* : 'The deep will care for his bones' // RC
CAT 3 :
MAGP 17 : Weirdly successful Double // RC
MAGP 1 (Case 2)* : Red Canary // RAB
MAGP 2 : Tattoo // RB
MAGP 4 : Murder Violin // C
MAGP 9 : Murder Dices // RB
MAGP 11* : 'The deep will care for his bones' // RC
*The Red Canary Case and the 'Deep' Case are labelled as CAT23, so I put them in both CAT 2 and CAT3
MAGP 13 : Murder Crypto // RB
MAGP 19* : Newton's science project
Okay ? Okay.
*MAGP 19 is labelled as CAT13, so I put it in both 1 and 3.
So now I think we can say each category have a thing :
CAT1 is for 'living' manifestations (that used to be human/animal or not)
CAT2 is for specific places (MAGP 3 is a garden and MAGP 5 is the cinema)
CAT3 is for artefacts/non-living manifestations.
About MAGP 1 (Case 2) and MAGP 11, I think they are in both categories because it got to do with both. For Red Canary it was both the Institute and the box he took from there, and for the other it was both the tattoo and the ocean/cliff (unsure if its one or the other).
You could argue that MAGP 5 got more to djo with the movie than the cinema, and I would agree ! However, I think the movie is also part of the cinema, in some way. The whole place was creepy, and if it was only the movie, it could have been done with simply a DVD or something. The fact that it was in a cinema was intentional.
For the ranks, I think it's pretty much self explanatory : RA to RC to categorise the levels of danger.
What is concerning about it however is that :
A) The Institute is ranked AB, which is the highest on this list for now.
B) All 'living' manifestations are ranked B or below, which means that our heroes would be pretty fucked should they encounter a rank A.
C) Some cases (namely, MAGP 3 and 4) are simply labelled 'C' without it being an actual rank. I could pass it off as a typo, but were talking about Jonathan Sims here, folks.
Another theory I have is that the O.I.A.R only handle B-ranked Externals, and eliminate those whose rank is higher. We'll need to verify that once the next External turns up, but until then I'm running with that. Bonzo and the Lady are both indicating that.
The case of MAGP 17 is a bit more tricky. My current theory (see the final comments on this post) is that whatever caused it was the therapy room the subject was in.
MAGP 1.1 and MAGP 18 are a bit similar in the kind of manifestations I think, as both has to do with dead people talking, though the MAGP 1.1 one is seemingly more dangerous.
Here, that was my rambling. Have a good one <3

The Category System in TMA
I want to preface by saying this isn’t my theory but I cannot for the life of me find the original post, if anyone knows what post I’m talking about please PLEASE tell me, it’s driving me insane
The theory I saw (a while ago, maybe around episode 10?) proposed that categories 1, 2, and 3 all represent nouns. Person (1), Place (2), and Thing (3)
I’m genuinely shocked this hasn’t gained more traction because I’ve yet to disprove this and every single episode just keeps working with this theory, so I wanted to list out every episode as further proof
Episode 1
CAT1RBC5257-12052022-09012024 Reanimation (Partial) -/- Regret [Email]
CAT23RAB2155-10042022-09012024 Transformation (eyes) -/- Trespass [chat log]
Cat1 (person) - reanimated corpse, though I think the focus is more about the person they paid to bring their husband back, which implies there some mystery guy out there with this ability
Cat23 (place, thing) - the magnus institute, and the box with runes that red canary stole
Episode 2
CAT3RBC1567-23092022-18012024 Transformation (full) -/- dysmorphic [video call]
Cat3 (thing) - the tattoo from ink5oul is the main focus, though other ink5oul episodes are focused on them and use cat1 (which has confused people, but this theory explains that imo)
Episode 3
CAT2C8175-03042009-22012024 Infection (full body) -/- arboreal [journal entry]
Cat2 (place) - the garden is what started changing the man making the statement (also seemed to exist as its own entity outside the regular flow of time)
Episode 4
CAT3C7494-19111831-29012024 Collection (blood) -/- musical [letter]
Cat3 (thing) - the violin (the power of the violin still remains even if the object itself changes hands, which means the power lies with the violin and not the people controlling it)
Episode 5
CAT2RB2377-10012023-05022024 Disappearance (undetermined) -/- Invitation [internet blog]
Cat2 (place) - the movie theater (or wherever the movie itself is being played, I assume the statement giver did not make it out of that location)
Episode 6
CAT1RB4824-09022024-12022024 Injury (needles) -/- intimidation [999 call]
Cat1 (person) - Needles
Episode 7
CAT2RC3338-03022016-12022024 Agglomeration (miscellany) -/- congregation [email]
Cat2 (place) - Hilltop Center, Oxford (By episode 20, Oxford has been mentioned multiple times, which is why I think the location is significant here)
Episode 8
CAT2RBC3366-12072023-28022024 Architecture (liminal) -/- hunger [coursework]
Cat2 (place) - the liminal space of Forton Service Station
Episode 9
CAT3RB3354-14101998-08032024 Dice (bone) --/-- fate [Magnus Statement]
Cat3 (thing) - the dice (again, the power of the dice remains the same, even when the dice themselves change hands)
Episode 10
CAT1RB2275-06082021-09032024 Mascot (kids) -/- murder [TV interview]
Cat1 (person) - Mr Bonzo, Nigel Dickerson
Episode 11
CAT23RC5246-06012020-11032024 Tattoo (corpse) -/- compulsion [email exchange]
Cat23 (place, thing) - Padstow civil cemetery, tattoo (the reason I believe this isn't a Cat1 despite it being ink5oul is because we know from episode 20 that the tattoos themselves had special powers, regardless of ink5oul and that ink5oul only started getting their powers after they continuously used the pre-existing designs - this is new information that imo further confirms this theory rather than debunking it)
Episode 12
CAT1RB4728-09032024-13032024 Mascot (kids) -/- frenzy [insurance claim]
Cat1 (person) - Mr Bonzo
Episode 13
CAT3RB4622-17092023-14032024 Gambling (application) -/- self-destruction [voicemail]
Cat3 (thing) - the Zorrotrade investment app
Episode 14
CAT1RB4426-01081995-15032024 Transformation (snake) -/- horde
Cat1 (person) - shop keeper that burst into snakes (the investigator describes no other infestation, and only mentions one hole and one possible squirrel, while the shopkeeper causes all other chaos. We also know that the shopkeeper was being considered by the Magnus Institute before being rejected, like Sam, making this shopkeeper a relatively important person)
Episode 15
CAT1RB6451-22062023-22032024 Hunt (aristocratic) -/- compulsion
Cat1 (person) - Lady Mowbray
Episode 16
CAT1RB1565-30102023-25032024 Tattoo (influencer) -/- cardiac
Cat1 (person) - ink5oul (this one was specifically about ink5oul, rather than the main focus being the tattoo itself)
Episode 17
CAT2RC1147-30111997-04042024 Doppelganger (interdimensional) -/- murder
Cat2 (place) - this one people keep focusing on categorizing the doppelganger, but I think the key focus of the episode is actually the Magnus Institute – Oxford Outreach Centre (another instance of Oxford, another connection to Ep7)
Episode 18
CAT1RC2374-20032024-10042024 Memory (derelict) -/- compulsion
Cat1 (person) - Violet Parker, talking corpse; [ERROR]
Episode 19
CAT13RBC1137-21031684-11042024 Transformation (canine) -/- growth (Crystalline)
Cat13 (person, thing) - Isaac Newton, Diana’s Tree
Episode 20
CAT1RAB2534-12042024-12042024 Transformation (tattoo) -/- Social Media (influencer)
Cat1 (person) - ink5oul (very clearly, this episode is about ink5oul and not about any of their tattoos, though they were in the middle of tattooing a corpse. I think the tattoo is irrelevant to this incident, which is why it's only a 1 and not a 13)
Episode 21
CAT2RBC4254-04011998-12042024 Architecture (landmark) -/- corruption (entropy)
Cat2 (place) - Millennium Dome (also happens to be The Magnus Institute, but I think the main focus is obviously the dome)
I think the *only* one that could be argued as not really fitting is MAGP5 - since you could argue the movie is a thing, and it’s not really the theater as the place, but compared to the odds of other theories that have way more holes this one is so spot on imo
This is the theory I’ve been comparing the categories to every single episode and I haven’t found anything to significantly disprove it, so I just wanted to highlight it one more time in case others haven’t seen it!
