How to stay sane at an all-week work conference

You know, the kind with 1000 people in a ballroom for the keynote speaker and sessions have 100 people in a room and you have to sit for 8 hours and pay attention all the while the din of hundreds of people talking slowly peels apart your brain and your limbs start twitching with the need to run. Those kind.

A guide, by me

Cut yourself a stack of origami paper, 2inch square. I cut it with my rotary cutter and self healing mat board and cackled as I heard quilters worldwide shrieking in dismay

Stick them in a little snack jar with a lid and bring them to the conference. Fold crane after crane after crane. When someone expresses interest, emphasize this requires zero thoughts, all motor memory (neurotypicals can get weird when someone is crafting with their hands in order to listen with their ears) and hand them a crane. Everyone is so delighted by their little gift, they fail to be mad at you for doing something with your hands.

--side note: wear some high fidelity ear plugs to help with the noise--

-- second side note: I also mainlined highly caffeinated tea in an effort to stay focused and also keep my mouth busy so I wasn't interrupting/talking constantly--

At the end of the day, pull out your cranes and stick them in your luggage so people don't realize how much you are making.

Then walk 7 or so miles in the evening to burn off the jiggles

I kept forgetting to post this so here it is now! Hopefully this fills the void a tiny bit more for everyone, I’m so proud of what we were all able to do for him! Go team haha

Also two things:

First: I’m so happy he liked the spirited away comment! I did that on purpose to see if he’d comment on it and he did! So Yay! It’s the simple things for me

Second: me and @skinnybritishdudes respectfully disagree on his second answer lmfao, I 100% do agree that Edwin would’ve completely lost his damn mind afterwards, but you can’t look me in the eyes and tell me after watching Edwin’s reaction that he wouldn’t of gotten swept away in the moment, like that boy was gone until the Cat King played himself lol smh
