Do you ever feel the random urge to reconnect with someone after being not in contact for a while? The reason for the gap may be natural causes, like your busy schedules and theirs. But when you think back, it's been about ten years without contact. And if you were to tell your younger self that you guys are no longer in contact, they might kick you in your face because that's how close you were?
And then suddenly you feel the longing to close the gap, but you don't know how because ten years is a long time and a lot could've happened within those years. They could've met someone who got their vibe and they could've also forgotten that you were a minor character in their story as well.

Thought 6
Cats dream right? Like they must do, we have evidence of it...kinda. But the age old question for Dogs is always what do they dream about? We have an answer, Dogs typically dream of their owner (s).
Cats on the other hand? No idea, there's not truly much we know about cat brains and how they dream. Any ideas?

I gotta start leaning into my roots more, using Yiddish words and phrases is fun.
I just casually used “bubele” in a message and I was like “oh shit, that hits different”

WELP! I am hating Twitter more and more! Surprise right?
My tablet's version of Twitter last night finally added the View Count and has actually pushed me away from looking at others' art. It sucks but all it made me do was compare my art to everyone else's.
I would say there are changes I don't mind, but then 400 Million Twitter Accounts got leaked.
If I didn't need it to promote myself or put in so much investment, I would be so fucking done with this site. It's clear at this point that the site is crumbling and may not last much longer. That frustrates me tho, as I like competition, I like it when companies try to make it the best they possibly can!
But this... this is why I came back to Tumblr, this is why I've loved my time back on Tumblr, because I'm sick of this every single time. A part of me hopes things change soon, but I don't trust that to happen.

I accidentally ran into one piece of fanfic some while ago (forgive me if I forget what one: it was, as I say, an accident...) that dealt with this issue by essentially turning it into a throwaway of no great importance.
In which one character (again, don't ask me which) says to the other, in essence, "Look, Starfleet's not stupid. They know exactly what's going on." [The implication being that if there was any problem with it—some issue that caused people fear that Kirk and Spock would prioritize themselves above their crew—someone would long before have reported this. But what has been happening, canonically, is the exact opposite. And these two know it.]
"...So I suggest we go on exactly as we have been doing. On the Bridge, and everyplace else that's not your quarters or mine, we do exactly what we know needs to be done to keep our ship safe. And behind our own closed doors... we do what we've been doing all along."
This approach struck me as eminently sensible. In the next movie, or series, or whatever, simply establish the relationship as a fait accompli and make it plain that we're never going to find out the details. Because the details don't matter, and would be anticlimactic at best.
(shrug) YYMV.
I actually do wish Spirk was canon, but I want it to be entirely off-screen and just mentioned by other characters as a matter of fact. Like 'hey, did you know Starfleet only ever made one exception to their fraternization policy, and that was to allow Spock to serve under Kirk when they got married?' Or maybe there's a planet that's populated by Vulcan-Terran hybrids and everyone knows that it was founded by those two because the conditions were good for both species. No, Kirk wasn't the youngest captain in Starfleet, the record was actually beaten by his daughter Saavik two decades later. People say she struggled to live up to her parents' fame, poor thing. A hundred years later Kirk and Spock's messages to each other are published in two tomes. The High Council deems them so inappropriate that they're banned on Vulcan, et cetera.
Any depiction of Spirk on screen would be inherently disappointing because it's straight up impossible to live up to sixty years of fan-made content. The only way to make it good is to incorporate it into the lore and arouse even MORE speculation and fan-made content.
Feel free to disagree, though...if you could make Spirk canon, how would you do it?

When Mabel comes out to Stan, she’s really scared that he’s going to reject her and have an issue with it, so she’s emotional and asks him if he still loves and supports her and he’s just like “??? Kid I’ve been telling you all summer I’m one of the LBTGs” and then it’s her turn to be like “wait what??” because she thinks he had never mentioned a sexuality before, and it turns out Stan had been constantly telling the kids that he’s “ambidextrous” because he thought it meant the same thing as bisexual.

In terms of internet writing, slotting reviewing and conversation and a bit- journaling- in different areas entirely from the concept of “a fiction story/meta fic posting” and “nonfiction.”
There is bad nonfiction- which happens a lot, because “ideal nonfiction” gets to a level of minutia and writing tone that is boring, requires substantial pre-knowledge, purposefully avoids the cheerful tone and flow that sacrifices standards for engagement, and is generally hard to read. Besides being writing, it’s not too similar to fiction. However in terms of medium skills writing style, editing, phrasing and the like still apply and affect technical areas. Use case and expectation of surroundings is a few contexts that can determine judgement of quality. To me.
There is “bad” fiction- a far more arbitrary judgement that has no truth standard- that also happens more often than not- with many ways this label could apply. I’m thinking here less in standards of enjoyment, writing skill or engagement and more in terms of real life incidents/applicability to real life. (in this criterion: actually very rare (with plenty of historical examples of related incidents) and nearly nothing to do with fiction itself and more actual events all things considered.)

can i say something. for years i thought the joke of the song short skirt/long jacket by cake was that he wanted a woman who was hung like a horse. like i thought when he says jacket it was a last-second fakeout because he very obviously meant to say cock. and the rest of the things in the song were just her personality and interests. which were secondary to her awesome penis

Still laughing at Brian May offhandedly writing the greatest understatement in the history of academia in his astrophysics doctoral dissertation:
Tumblr media
Ah, yes - “various pressures.” Like being one of the greatest guitarists ever and playing/writing/singing for the most legendary rock band of all time.
Those various pressures.

*percy seen from a far, wearing a suit*
piper: do my eyes deceive me or is percy jackson wearing formal clothes? since when does he have the ability to look like a domesticated human being?
frank: how come HE, percy of all people, king of untidiness, can wear a cream linen suit and look like a celebrity, but when i tried one on i looked like a man-child going to a high school dance?
hazel: sweetie it’s just because it’s such a casual suit, and you’re much more elegant than percy is!
annabeth, turning to them: um okay, hi percy’s best friends? can you guys compliment him without insulting him?
leo: his ass looks incredible.
grover: has he been working out?
annabeth, side eyeing them:
annabeth: okay, you have all now either insulted him or hit on him. how about from now on, you do neither?
rachel: how about we do both? because i’ve actually just perfected doing them at the same time

There are 3 things that people know related to technology:
Crypto has more scammers than people TF2 is rampant with Sniper Bots and Tumblr's Porn Bots are the cockroaches of the internet.
They're popping up again and they always end up pushing me the most away from the site. All they are is accounts trying to make you get P with a side of Malware/STD. I hate these so much and it's sad that they keep coming back.
You would think that after the porn purge they would be gone but NOPE! The reason why I hate it is because it gives a false sense of hope that you're getting more followers, and it ends up feeling like you're failing on the platform.
I will love the day that all 3 are expelled from the internet, but until then, I'm going to try to stick with Tumblr as much as I can.

Thought 2
Sometimes I wonder about, what if we never found dinosaur fossils? Like they'd still be there in the Earth and stuff. We just never found them. Or we did find them but were scared off by large teeth or massive bones.
If we never found them what would that mean for so many things? There's toys, information books, hell even jobs. What would those things disappearing be like?
