look at his gleeful fucking laughter at the podcast host making the same old tired 2011 "women can't drive" jokes, when asked if he thinks women are good drivers his response is 'good is subjective.' can't even say a yes without adding it's a subjective opinion to hold
34 year old grown ass man, can't even say why there's no women in f1 beyond 'umm there's only 20 of us.' he just fucking loves going on podcasts and laughing at women's expense, don't think I forgot about the eastern european pussy either!!!
god. spineless. [x]

I'm not going to tag this bc I can practically visualise the hornets nest I'm kicking, but I am starting to get annoyed by people who are complaining about inconsistencies in dragon age lore, when the inconsistences mostly seem to be happening in places where the old lore was severely problematic and written at the height of game of thrones grimdark fantasy market trends.

The history of Rolling Stone largely has been one of either exclusion or minimizing the contribution of women and men, of Black men and Black women.
I think you have to look at the history of the magazine. I think from the founding in the 60s, all the way into maybe the 90s, I don't think that they had a Black staff writer. They had very few women writers. So there wasn't a lot of outside voices in those offices.
Moreover, what's really frightening or sort of sad about his comments is that because Rolling Stone was essentially the gatekeeper, the seminal voice of youth culture, at least perceived by the mainstream, they defined what the canon of Rock and Roll was. And they defined the canon of Rock and Roll in very narrow terms that basically celebrated white men with guitars who Jann Wenner liked. So when you have that as your criteria, it kind of limits who you celebrate as greats.
So these comments really showed the way that gatekeeping excluded these other voices.
And the thing about Rolling Stone also to remember is, because it had such an outsized voice, as the voice of sort of Rock music culture, or even youth culture at one point, it affected how TV programmers programmed it, effected radio, and effected newspaper coverage. So who they deemed to be important and it resonated throughout. And who they deemed not to be important, resonated throughout.
So if you were a white rock band named Kansas, or Boston, or Chicago in the 60s or 70s, you got more coverage than Chaka Khan or Parliament, Funkadelic or Earth Wind and Fire.
Well, he called his book The Masters, and that was already the first step. If the book was called, My Favorite Rock Stars, I think we all would have felt, oh, it's a little narrow, but that's who Jann is. But by calling it The Masters, he suggests that these guys are the masters of a genre of music that helped define America in the last half century. And that's going to get backlash, particularly when it doesn't include Marvin Gaye, or Joni Mitchell, or Stevie Wonder, and the list could go on.
—Nelson George, responding to Jann Wenner’s racist sexist comments on Rock & Roll, a music genre created and popularized by Black people

You know those posts calling Astarion gay and a twink and saying its weird to see him with female Tavs?
Just stumbled upon one calling Astarion "effeminate". Why are we still using that word? What does it mean other than "this man is not behaving in the way I think men should"? "This man acts like a woman to me - because "acting like a woman" is a thing, yes - and he shouldnt". You have a game where the players, men and women, are never restricted by their sex. They can do and be wathever they want. But a man having fun with theatrics makes him effeminate.
Plus that post later said something along the lines of Astarion wanting to do the saving instead of being saved by Tav and called that a masculine need. It's just so ridiculous to me, a woman who never wanted to be saved and wanted to do the saving.

A show I rewatched every decade or less for the main romance and relationship. I love, love Maggie Cheung Ho Yee and her character here (and her short hair was stunning), and while the stories could be much better, they were still okay. The show aged quite well. I learned a few useful things from this show.
The main pairing here is still one of the healthiest, most mature and egalitarian (modern) relationship I have had the pleasure to feast onscreen, and some of the tropes are my favourites too, e.g., the main male character feeding his lady love with his excellent cooking skills, relatively straightforward commmunication/confession etc. The visuals were gold too (though am/was not much of a fan of Gallen Lo, they made for a beautifully striking pair).
The main pair’s dynamics were made even better by their contrast with the somewhat - not particularly healthy and often annoying - ‘stereotypical het’ relationship of the second leads.
A favourite which stood the test of time.

“Casual” sexism is an essential constituent of a society that is steeped in contempt for womben. Language is the means that perpetuates dehumanizing depictions of femaleness.

guys i think this website is recreating misogyny
#i cant say specifics of what the media is or who the character is but like. if theres a character (who happens to be a woman) who is never#directly shown on-screen. but shes absolutely integral to the plot. and it's all with an extremely serious tone. maybe headcanoning them as#a silly ditzy bimbo wifey who believes in astrology and doesnt know anything about computers and her only interests are animals and plants#and taking care of her husband and cleaning the house and she also only wears bright pink and dyes her hair bright pink......#maybe. just maybe. thats fuckin awful?!?!? 💀💀💀💀#IM GOING INSANE HERE. LIKE GOD DAMN I THIUGHT I COULD TRUST TUMBLR USERS ABOUT THIS MEDIA TOO. I WAS SO WRONG. BLOCKED INSTANTLY.#also im not even going to begin to tackle the casual whitegirl racism involved with the interests listed for this character. like idk people#loooove to be vaguely spiritual without respecting a single culture who actually does these practices. 😀.#but im so mad like. i cant even say shit like 'ummm think about this for a sec!!' because the OP clearly put tons of time and effort into#their insanely misogynistic post. multiple drawings lined and full colored. like. they thought about this and thought it was amazing. 😐#anyway... ive noticed lately that a lot of people think misogyny is a dying bigotry or that its 'not as serious' as other forms of hatred?#but sexism is a very real systemic and individual issue. drawing cismenkissing.png doesnt auto-clear the sexism allegations 🫢#anis gaymer moments#ok sorry for the long rant im done now i prommy

one thing i was not prepared for when i started this rewatch of sdmi has been for it to finally sink in how absolutely heartbreaking daphne's whole deal is. this poor kid, man
#sdmi#scooby doo: mystery incorporated#daphne blake#abused kid with zero self-worth: casually; gruesomely self-harms in the *second episode* unprompted to get an extra clue#me: 😰😰😰😰#someone help her please actually god#i know it tends to get overshadowed by people being annoyed by the Obnoxious Het Teen Drama and all; and i get it#but like. that's a major manifestation of her *larger* deep-running issues; sexism and misogyny have shaped how she tries to deal with them#and it kind of sits less and less right with me these days that of her and fred#she's the one whose issues get dismissed and ignored with 'i don't care about boring hets so i'm not gonna bother 🙄'#whereas fred's issues which his involvement in that subplot are an expression of get explored and taken seriously#and treated as Tragic Best Boy Protect Him#(which by itself i don't have a problem with! he is very dubious and fucked up but he's also really tragic and likable)#especially since he's a *catalyst for or outright cause of* a lot of the heartbreaking stuff that happens with her in the series#i understand he has issues of his own and the misogyny is a manifestation of his own abuse history; that toxic masculinity has harmed him#but it is a plain and simple fact that he is a misogynistic abuser toward daphne in sdmi. like. he just is. that's a thing#and i think it is. revealing. that of the characters involved in the Annoying Het Subplot(tm)#it's the man who is a perpetrator of misogyny who's considered Worth Exploring the Tragedy of Despite the Annoying Het Subplot#and the girl who is a victim of misogyny; in ways her entire life is shaped by and suffocated in; is fair game to ignore the tragedy of#and the way the most i have ever seen her get in the show or otherwise on that front is#She Deserves a Better Boyfriend and to Be Confident in Herself Hell Yeah Girl Power#and not 'the way this kid's parents talk to her in the car outside the college is a punch in the gut to watch'#........bothers me. it bothers me.#anyway#misogyny cw#abuse mention cw#abuse apologism cw#self-harm cw#SDMItag

Hello! I recently came across a post that described zutara as "a romance novel ship with a Disney Princess aesthetic, making it a blend of two of the mass majority's guiltiest of pleasures ... But it is devoid of all substance, devoid of any understanding of either character, devoid of any consideration for a conclusion satisfying on any level beyond "aesthetically pleasing." What are your thoughts on this?
Obviously, I disagree. This argument is too stupid to waste more words on.

Dating, relationships and trolling a favorite social media past time: Not about Deepika
There is something called online dating, and its many avatars in the form of Tinder, Bumble, and a host of them, going for the kill, window shopping, total casual fun, or flings. Then, there is one show called Koffee with Karan opening up with the glamorously tinsel town couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Think again or better screw up your logic if you thought that the guests wouldn’t…

I fucking hate the terms "No gay shit" or "No homo", because like.. fine, you're cracking a joke by saying it, but it's a joke that is inherently rooted in toxic masculinity and homophobia. It shows that you see being gay as "undesirable".
Some would argue that it's less homophobia and more toxic masculinity. I would respond that that Venn diagram is almost a perfect circle
Lots of homophobia is actually misogyny in disguise. Men hating men for being like women
See also, the whole double standard with rape.
Sometimes when the perpetrator's a woman, you'll see people essentially assuming the "Not if they enjoyed it" argument automatically applies, because as a man, you're expected to always desired hetero-sex. But otherwise, and always if the perpetrator's another man, people will attack the victim for not being strong and masculine enough to fight off their assailant.
All of this directly harms men. But these people are too stupid to realize that
It's not masculinity/feminity either
In some minds there's "that which is to be dominated" and "that which dominates"
If you're raised to think masculinity dominates femininity then you will do anything to avoid appearing feminine (if you don't want to be dominated).
This is a reinforced thing among women, too. Actively looking for men that put down femininity around them, not because they specifically always want to be dominated, but the imperative is to find a guy that dominates other guys.
This also leads to parents who'll state up and down they don't care about gay people being gay until their children exhibit qualities they view as homosexual, and now it's the end of the world because that domination is coming for their children, in their mind.
It's also why the bigot sphere has basically no problem with trans men vs trans women.
It's all averages, of course. There are people who are super feminine who view "that which is to be dominated" as the biggest most masculine things they can find. It's just the particular strain that wins out among the most of us appears to be the other one.
Regardless, this leads to a culture where "being gay" = "being feminine" , and "being feminine" = "weak and undesirable", which manages to loop in sexism, toxic masculinity and homophobia
Almost impressive, were it not so depressing, and it is that culture which gives birth to jokes like "No homo" and "No gay shit"
TLDR : "No homo" and "No gay shit" were never funny and were always homophobic

Just when I give Curtis an inch for helping Sprina, he hits us with the, "Can I trust you?" to Spencer. Is this man forreal??? Trina literally told him that Spencer had been helping her out this entire time and trying to do everything he could to keep her safe and Curtis STILL doubts him. I literally can not deal with him. I guarantee when Laura hears in detail what Trina did for Spencer and by proxy Ace, she's gonna make her part of the family lol.
I can't stand Curtis, regularly root for his downfall and even I'm wary about judging him based on the previews lol. They're just always purposefully out of context and edited salaciously to make us think something is going to go a certain way.
I would imagine Spencer might start protesting leaving the island without Laura, and Curtis makes a promise to him to guarantee Laura's safety in exchange for him focusing on getting off the island with Trina and demon spawn. Curtis knows at this point that Trina will not extricate her safety from Spencer's, so he's likely trying to negotiate around that fact.
And Laura has been a Trina fan for a long time now lol. I think she just never thought her grandson would be able to pull her. But miracles happen and I definitely see Laura continuing to embrace Trina. But Little Miss White Privilege will continue to be a point of contention.

the best way to deal with casual sexism is to just.. pretend to not understand what is happening. especially when it comes from males.
a sexist joke, a p0rnography reference, someone objectifying you? just ask them what they mean. ask them to explain and keep throwing in whys and hows and whats.
watch them fumble, watch them express their sexism in so many words, watch them own up to their misogyny. it is no longer a harmless joke or just the way things or you’re reading too much into it. they are forced to face their misogyny and you get an easy way to call it out.
you're welcome.
