A show I rewatched every decade or less for the main romance and relationship. I love, love Maggie Cheung Ho Yee and her character here (and her short hair was stunning), and while the stories could be much better, they were still okay. The show aged quite well. I learned a few useful things from this show.

The main pairing here is still one of the healthiest, most mature and egalitarian (modern) relationship I have had the pleasure to feast onscreen, and some of the tropes are my favourites too, e.g., the main male character feeding his lady love with his excellent cooking skills, relatively straightforward commmunication/confession etc. The visuals were gold too (though am/was not much of a fan of Gallen Lo, they made for a beautifully striking pair).

The main pair’s dynamics were made even better by their contrast with the somewhat - not particularly healthy and often annoying - ‘stereotypical het’ relationship of the second leads.

A favourite which stood the test of time.

Aaaaahh not sure if this is my best work 😭 I just really wanted to draw smth for vettonso day but my brain hasn't really been functioning well LOL so I kept dreading working on this, especially bcs its so important to me, y'know? I hope it's good????? I'm happy with the concept, but I was just so unsure on so many of the angles and it was killing me. I did the color thing bcs I thought it'd add something interesting to it :) since I didn't paint it as I usually would

Anyways! Process!

Now I will explain all of them:

Boy king au is where it all starts of course. I think their relationship is the most developed in this compared to the others, but at the same point, they just start from such a different point, especially affection-wise. All of these kinda have a power dynamic, except the last one, and this is the most imbalanced. Fernando is being subservient, the only part of Seb he may kiss(in public lol) is his hand.

Matador au next. They hurt themselves when they try to be affectionate, because they live in the culture of a sport of violence and death. The sword separates them, their love for the sport keeps them apart, in fear that they hurt each other. Seb, yet again, looks down upon Fernando. Seb haunts Fernando's whole career, the constant overhanging presence. Also aside from that, shame that you can't see his three musketeers look bcs of the black background 😔

2012 core!!! I think this one is pretty easy to understand. Both of them often kiss their trophies, more so than any driver. So they're both trying to claim the wdc trophy by kissing it. Maybe you guys should just get rid of the trophy altogether and claim each other! But yes, just like the sword in the matador au one, the trophy and their ambitions divides, keeps them from ever bridging the vast gap between them, at least at that point in time.

The conclusion! Aka what I wish we will get at Imola 2024- kidding kidding. But it is 2024. Finally there is no conflict between them, there's no big thing keeping them in conflict, they can finally come together. Finally they can touch, there is no gap to bridge, they can appreciate each other, and appreciate what they failed to in years past.

The thesis is basically that they always have their aspirations between them, and their aspirations happen to be basically the same thing. Until those are resolved, the gap between them is too vast for them to recognize and/or find any commonality. How do you get along with someone when you're both fighting for the same thing? How do you get along when it feels like one of you is winning more? How do you get along when there's such a vast gap?

In boy king au, it's going to take a while before they both feel settled about the issue of the throne. That's what makes that au interesting, they're trapped in this state of non-closure and they have to actually solve their issues without the matter of one of them simply removing themselves from the equation. They have to find a way to get over themselves and their aspirations, because like it or not they're stuck with each other. I think with the hand kissing, it represents how Fernando, at that point, is only willing to play along with the game if it's tradition, and he often won't budge in other ways. Yes, I will show subservience, but only in this detached, formal way that I don't connect personally to. He's still holding his own bitterness over meaningfully appreciating Seb. Though it's not like Seb isn't at fault. It takes a while for him to not hold things over Fernando, and constantly humiliate him. One day they will meaningfully show affection, and it won't be some sort of power play.

I think matador au is pretty similar to real life, and the 2010s era(it's basically just their actual plot line but in the context of bullfighting.) They're forever going to have this big elephant in the room, and it only really gets resolved when one of them leaves the sport. Once they're not fighting directly against each other, they realize what they've been missing out on and what they were not appreciating for so many years beforehand. They finally come together because they can't just rely anymore on the sport keeping them together. They actually have to make that step to be in each other's lives, rather than just taking their presence for granted.

Also the text on the comic. "We keep missing, and missing, and missing, and finally kissing." It's basically: we keep missing the point of it all, we keep failing to appreciate each other presence in our lives and in our own individual grand stories. But when we're not forced together anymore, we have to make the choice to come together again ourselves. We keep missing what we actually need to do. Missing each other in favor of our aspirations. Etc etc. One day we will finally embrace and there will be nothing keeping us apart.

The Earthworm Kingdom is very huge but only really the central part of it is inhabited, especially near the capital (Shown by a star)

The Furby Island Kingdom used to be unified with the Earthworm Kingdom until a very evil worm took over and it split off, bringing some off the Worm Kingdom with it 🥰 This is why they're at war now😔 (Also because their leader hates furbies)

The other two kingdoms mentioned in my previous post are Reba and Ono's dictatorships. They are two very similar countries and basically act as one country, like the countries in the UK(Scotland, England, etc 🥰) The worms and furbies here are forced Into long hours, and furbies here are punished by being reset, and worms are forced to grow limbs😔

Some of the kingdoms here aren't discussed in my original post, though. I didn't want to make it too long so I cut them out, but I'll explain them now 😀

The Warnt Empire is a territory that split of from the Earthworm Kingdom due to a sudden mutation in the worms there that made them grow LIMBS 😱 But this was before the time of work monsters, so this wasn't seen as a bad thing. But they still saw themselves as diff we rent from Earthworms and wanted their own identity.

The disputed territory is owned by the Earthworm empire, though it is claimed by both Reba and ono's dictatorships. Many fights have happened over this place due to its rich natural resources that remain unused. One if the resources here is HUGE collections of 💥WORM SINNN💥 very Good fuel for worms to sin 🥰🥰🥰

The unlabelled countries near Reba and ono's dictatorships are very temporary as the disagreements between them and pressure from Reba and no cause them to always fuse, go to war, or gain independence. Very complicated 😔

A little chaotic tbh. If you’ve seen the JCC where he’s baking with Johnny and Ten then you know what I mean. He’s doing his best and that’s what matters, even if you somehow end up with bread instead of cookies, plus it’s quality time with each other and it’ll definitely be filled with a lot of laughs. He'd probably crack the corniest jokes or make awful puns about whatever step you're on with the recipe. Lots of touch whether it's a hand holding your shoulder while he laughs or he'll stand directly next to you and give you a little hip bump to get your attention. He'd just randomly smile at you because his heart is so full of love for you. The most gentle and lighthearted atmosphere on the planet and when the finished product comes out of the oven looking a little suspicious, the two of you would laugh together and be surprised that the outcome actually tastes pretty good.

Renjun

I feel like baking wise he’d know his way around the kitchen. It’d be a more calm environment and you guys would play more laid back songs and maybe end up dancing in the kitchen together. Swaying together and laughing lightheartedly after you place the baking sheet into the oven. While you wait and prepare the icing, he'd backhug you and place a little kiss on your neck before resting his head on your shoulder, watching your efforts and would maybe even softly hum whatever song you two are listening to in that moment. When the cookies are done and decorated you guys just stare at them with pride before one of the members snatches one and runs away.

Jeno

For Jeno I feel like it could sway either way with being fun or being soft, it just depends on the mood of the situation. If it’s fun I feel like it’d be more playful and like maybe you guys have like a mini flour fight or like smear the dough or batter of the cookies or cake you’re baking on each other’s faces. If the mood is more soft it’d probably be similar to Renjun but I feel like Jeno would take even more of a lead and the two of you could work next to each other in a comfortable silence. He’d probably wrap an arm around your waist or kiss your cheek occasionally while guiding you through the instructions and by the end, whatever you were baking is gonna turn out great.

Haechan

His smug ass. He’d be so cocky and brag about how good his baking is because he made amazing cookies before (probably once tbh). When you challenge him to a competition and call his bluff his ego gets in the way and agrees. He’d tease you to distract you the whole time so he can win, like if he needed to get something from you he’d basically press his whole body against you, maybe even place his hand on the small of your back, and grab whatever he needed before walking back to his little situation while he leaves you all flustered. He also might randomly back hug you randomly and kiss your neck while you just whine out his name annoyance, shooing him back to what is now a disastrous mess. Once the cookies are done, you have the members try them and when everyone agrees that yours are better he becomes the whiniest person you’ve ever met. He mopes around for the rest of the day until you cuddle together at the end of the night and he forgets the whole ordeal.

Jaemin

He’s so goofy when he’s with you but when he’s baking he’s pretty serious. He’d still crack jokes with you and mess around a little, maybe doing that little baby talk thing he does sometimes with the members (but obviously to you). Similar to jeno, he’d guide you through the steps. If you’re super focused on something, he might pull out his camera and secretly snap a few pics for a new Lock Screen before telling you how glad he is that you two met. He’d wrap his arms around your waist and rest his head on your shoulder while he continues to watch your efforts before he goes to set up the baking sheets and preheat the oven. He for sure just adores you.

Chenle

He’d know his way around a kitchen and he’d take every opportunity to sass you about it. Little Gordon Ramsey tbh, just baking up a storm next you. He'd still be joking around with you and I can see him dumping compliments on you so you're all flustered and then poking fun at how flustered you are. It would be more of a high energy experience when he's not focused on something and he'd just tease you and be dramatic about whatever you're doing. Whatever the two of you are baking ends up being and he'll shower you with compliments and call you little pet names.

Jisung

For Jisung I definitely feel like you'd end up having to take the lead on organizing everything for the recipe. He's not clueless, he's just a little clumsy. Meaning, you kind of monitor him when he's measuring things out. He'll most-likely have to just sit back and watch and I don't think he'd mind it since he's a more observant person anyways. He'd watch you with curiosity and love sparkling in his eyes as he watches your every move. Lots of questions from him, he'd also probably stand behind you and peek over your shoulder from time to time and pace elsewhere. Once the treat or treats that you're baking are in the oven, he gravitates towards you and backlogs you, caging your figure in his arms. A little kiss or two on the top of your head while he talks to you about how excited he is for the treat because he wants to taste your baking so bad. He'd be ecstatic when the treats are done and plated. He'd tell you how cool he thinks it is and mention the little things he noticed about you.

This is my first time writing something that isn't fluff. I'm sorry to all the giyuu lovers.

You were a demon, a ordinary one. Not a lowermoon nor a uppermoon. Just like nezuko, you don't crave humans. You live by surviving by sleeping and use your powers to protect civilians from other demons at night.

You had found a slayers nichirin on the ground when you were wandering around the forest at night. So you just took the nichirn and started practising your swordsmanship. Apparently, it's wrong to just take a random slayers nichirn, but your a demon so who cares !

If the sword broke while fighting demons, you would use your flesh to wrap around the nichirn blade and reconnect it. Just like how kokushobo's nichirn is made on his flesh ! But less creepy...

Anyway, one day, while you were protecting a village. You didn't expect a hashira to arrive and to almost think you were one of the evil demons until he saw you cut off the other demon's head using the nichirn.

He wanted to put you to the test and to see if you were like nezuko, so he cut his hand ( just a little wound ) and placed it in front of you, watching your reaction. You just tilted your head and asked if he wanted it treated or not, cuz you were confused as to why he would cut his own hand and put it in front of your face.

In the end, you treated it and asked how was he. But giyuu didn't answer you, instead, he looked into your eyes as his gaze was fixated on you. You looked straight back at him and it turned into a staring contest. Giyuu really liked how the both of you was similar. You both didn't really like to communicate.

Giyuu literally just downright said " your interesting, I like you. " with zero hesitation. You blushed upon hearing that though, you never really thought about love ever since you became a demon. Wait no you didn't even think about love your entire whole life. You basically just stared at this guy with a red face, your eyes shifted to looking at the drawer beside you as you couldn't bear to look at him anymore without getting a face redder than a tomato.

Tomioka just laughed an "asked how about you go on a date with me ?"

Okay I know this whole thing is fast but the schedule for fierce winds and ferocious flames together with once and only once...but never again's schedule is really close. Like its just 1 day !! So I'm sorry for the rush 😔

You nodded your head in response as giyuu guided you to the lake across the street. You didn't realise what you had missed out on for so long. The lake was decorated with flowers that fell from the trees. The lantern hanging the villages formed rainbow colored lights in the lake. You were captivated before tomioka kissed you in the lips.

You were shocked at first but kissed him back, you knew that this kind of love was forbidden. After the kiss, giyuu said " I'm sorry but, because of my job as a hashira, I am not allowed to be seen with you. But looks like fate had different plans, I'm sorry. But we will most likely never cross paths ever again.

Was all he said before getting up and leave, no matter what you said or did, he did not turn his head to face you. Only his back faced you as he kept walking forward, not a single glance spared to you nor looking back at all.

You could only look back at the lake's reflection, you, yourself. Without giyuu nor anybody by your side to comfort you. In the end....fate was cruel to both you and giyuu.

But it was cruel to you especially, first, you were made to be a demon, and now you can't even find true love.

Okay it turned out to be better than what I had expected it to be if I was being honest. 😭

bc i feel like a lot of intl fans don't really understand or know anything abt korean pop culture, despite heavily engaging with a crucial part of it 😔 like u saying how some of chungha's intl fans were trying to act like she was doing charity work or w/e by ft. on rain's song 😭

sorry it took so long to reply to this it's such a broad question! this isn't gonna be comprehensive at all but here's some things!

-people don't realize that variety shows and radio shows are where the real money is and are a bigger indicator of cultural impact than numbers. no one knows how small the korean entertainment industry is and how broadcasting companies work?

-lack of basic respect and interest in older generations of kpop when the coolest thing about kpop is seeing the genre evolve with the similarities so directly handed down through gens. when i got into kpop again in september 2020 i had been getting really into older korean music (like 60s-90s) first for about 2 years so i appreciate stuff very differently. also ties into the general lack of ability to tell which stars are actually famous and have cultural impact. chungha is successful but in terms of star power she is sooooo much lower than rain he was giving her career a huge boost.

-lack of respect for the artists they like??? these people train HARD for years and they're professionals i've talked to u before about how the whole "just some guy" line of thinking doesn't really work for kpop because people already reduce them to like influencers or streamers because of the 4th gen style of content

-people don't understand that south korea has a LOT of people but it's a tiny country with a historically racially homogenous demographic makeup and a shared unique language there are so many ways in which it is not comparable to the US with pop culture. when people say gp they mean like 70% of the entire population that knows about these musicians and has opinions on them (even if the opinion is "that song was meh" or "he's kinda ugly"). and cultural trends happen rapidly and permeate fast because of this like intl twt fans fighting over who started the second gen nostalgia kick of this year and it's literally what the south korean gp collectively decided to get back into. things just happen like that.

-also that korean people are much more steeped in music as a social activity than people in the US are? there's karaoke culture and radio show culture and variety show culture and talent show culture. if a kpop song is big literally everyone has heard it and seen it performed by other normal people in karaoke rooms or talent shows like including the choreo. koreans r a big fan of getting together and getting drunk and singing and dancing to dance pop. also there's like high school fancam culture where teenage girls gather around in classrooms between periods to watch whatever kpop performance fancam is popular at the time, with classics like junho our house kai tempo and move. also busking culture is like 60% kpop dance covers nowadays.

-korean songs have specific utility and dance pop is like fun music and ballads are "real music" and most koreans listen to more western music and ballads than kpop. but people still hear kpop everywhere in public.

-intl fans just have such an antagonistic relationship to "knetz" or "koreans" or "korean gp" when that's literally. everyone. they really wanna save their idols from koreans who can't appreciate them properly and it's deeply racist. things are shifting a little because of the newly expanded US market for kpop but it's still a fact that koreans know good music and good vocals and good dancing and that if a group can't do well in the domestic market they're never leaving the country.

-when intl fans think they know literally anything about korean politics and history.................. that's a whole other post

Okay, so we're picking up from right after the ending, still the same "scene" with Edge. Tal-Rho, Zeta-Rho, Lara Lor-Van. Half brothers, then. (Also, the majority of women have names starting with L and I find it funny 😄 Lois, Lana, Lara, Leslie.)

So he basically wants to resurrect old Kryptonians. Who does he have their consciousness? Why would he have that? Why him, if he left even before Clark or Kara?

Poor Lana is losing her footing with Sarah again because she can't talk to her about Kyle and the superpowers. 😔

I love that when Clark shares what he learned about Edge, the whole family is here, not just Lois but the boys too.

Clark's mother created the technology??? How cool is that?
