Batfam Karaoke tournament headcanons

I firmly believe that the batfam has a bi-monthly karaoke night, which is mandatory for all family members. You can enter with a serious song or a joke song it doesn't matter, but you have to perform. It doesn't matter if someone can sing or not, the others judge them on execution and ✨️vibes✨️. It's forbidden to let any preexisting grudges affect your rating. You WILL be called out if you do.

Dick has a nice voice, but nothing extraordinary. He usually goes with his favourite song at the time, or something really relatable to him. His dance routines always slap tho. Best performances include: Holding out for a hero by Bonnie Tyler, Inertia by AJR and 30 by Bo Burnham

Barbara usually only performs the one mandatory song, but she's a ruthless judge. She is responsible for recording the event, and making memes from it that can be used in the groupchat. Her favourite song to perform is Burn for You from the Bridgerton musical that she and Dick made a choreography for when they were still dating. They perform it at least once a year for nostalgia sake. Other than that, her best performances were I am not a Robot by Marina and a duett of Mamma Mia with Steph.

Jason "theatre kid" Todd is living his best life every tournament. He usually has 3 songs prepared, and depending on the mood, he performs one. His voice is really fucking good. And the worst part is, he knows and weaponizes this. He usually makes podium, if not wins it all together. Best performances include: Bad Reputation by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, My Petersburg from the Anastasia musical and Dos Oruguitas by Sebastian Yatra (which DID make everyone cry for 3 hours)

Tim goes with a meme song every single time. His voice is horrible. Despite that, his choreography and dedication sometimes gets him to the podium. His best performances include: How bad can I be? from The Lorax, Barbie and Ken by Scene Queen and Set it Off (duett with Steph) and on one memorable occasion WAP: Midwest emo rendition. He WAS disqualified for the last one, but it was legendary.

Steph gives it her all every single time, and she usually makes it to the podium. Her voice is good, but it's the dedication which she performs with that sells the show every time. She usually sings at least 2 songs, sometimes even a duett at the end. Best performances include: Die Young by Kesha, Girls just want to have fun as a duett with Cass, and all American bitch by Olivia Rodrigo

Damian doesn't like singing. His voice is at the stage where it starts cracking, and he doesn't really listen to music with words. He does like to dance tho, so he usually sings duetts where he can be a background dancer while the other performs. Best performances include: It's tough to be a god with Duke, Revolting Children performed by the whole Batkidclan and Prince Ali sang by Jason ABOUT him, while he acted out everything Jason sang about.

Duke likes singing, but he's mostly here to judge. His points are always fair and well thought out. He's the most influential judge right after Alfred. He does have to perform tho, so he usually chooses something he listened to right before the competition and is already in his head. Best performances include: Bourgeoisieses by Conan Gray, Dirty Town by Mother Mother and Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners.

Cass is selectively mute, so depending on the day, she might just dance, or she might sing you to tears. Her voice is a little rough around the edges from misuse, and she mispronounces some words, but the emotion behind it shines through every time. Best performances include: a ballet to Swan Lake, a modern dance interpretation of Luminery by Joel Sunny, and Last Words of a Shooting Star by Mitski (which also left everyone crying for 3 hours)

Bruce is not exempt from the competition. His kids are adamant he performs too, but he doesn't actually care what he sings, so the song depends on what kid gets to him first. Crowd favourites include Bring me to life by Evanescence, Teenagers by MCR, Little girls from the Annie musical, and one time when Tim got to him first My Dead Gay Son from the Heathers musical.

Alfred performed exactly once, and it was a heartbreaking rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way. He was forbidden from participating because he would win every single time. Now he's only judging, and his points are greatly sought after.

Alfred: French Horn. idk man i almost gave him saxophone but didnt wanna give bruce french horn. so here we are. hes still more of a piano guy but this isnt abt that

Bruce: Saxophone. i think it still works with him! smooth andd cool. works for me, works for him

Barbara: Euphonium. sorry i fucking love the euphonium, its a great instrument. shout out euphonium players. i think it fits barb because its like, deep and Important when its in a piece. usually. and makes great background!

Dick: Trumpet. hes as loud and annoying as one <3 additionally a piece thats on the rougher/faster lol end of the musical spectrum will feel kinda empty without a trumpet.

Cass: Flute. im a flute player + i love cass. the flute is an instrument that you have to really strain to hear in any given piece, which really matches her thing of just Appearing Out of Nowhere. but if you give the flute a solo, it usually slays rly fucking hard, and cass is the same as a character!

Jason: Tuba. he has the vibe of a tuba player. i dont actually know much about the tuba itself, but like its genuinely a rly cool instrument solo or not. and i think that just matches jason

Steph: Clarinet. matches the flute, but still has its own spotlight (in fact usually the favorite instrument of the 2, like goddamn bitch why are there so many clarinets!!!!). I really like how the clarinet sounds in solos, specially some of the lower notes, and i just ghergjhh. matches the flute. stephcass. youre welcome

Tim: Trombone. hes tiny. trombone big. hes probably the type of player to stand/lean on his case. not only is tim being a trombone player comical, but like, i think it works for him. specially given the genre range of the trombone!

Duke: Oboe. matches flute & clarinet (they are my fav trio eat shit & die!!!!), but also has its own theme— i think its quite versatile in the way that a mix of a trombone & a clarinet would be. duke also just has that vibe man idk

Damian: Triangle. "the triangle is the easiest instrument out there!!" "triangle’s so easy" "the triangle is like for little kids" damian decimates three entire audiences with a triangle solo. bows out. the triangle is NOT easy and i fully believe he’d be given the triangle bc of people underestimating him and surprise, surprise, the triangle's quite difficult!!! but not for dami of course, hes gonna excel at it. duh.

So running this poll caused me to reawaken my headcanons on which Sailor Moon character would be the Batfamily's favorite. I think I did this before but I'm being more thoughtful right now.

Bruce Wayne: In the tags I was musing about this, and basically, Tuxedo Mask is very like him (Sad orphan, wealthy, introverted, kind of uptight, has less powers than the others, like high places) but that would actually annoy him because he doesn't like himself. I settled on Sailor Jupiter as his favorite, he relates to her having a similar background (orphan, martial arts skills) but the way she's able to be so openly sweet and nurturing, when he struggles to show those sides of himself, makes him admire her, annnd that also really reminds him of Dick. He also really likes Sailor Pluto, vibes with her loneliness and mystery. He is,to the surprise of many, a Chibiusa fan, because she's essentially Usagi's Robin and she gives him parenting feels. Hotaru as well, for the goth aesthetic and general introversion and reminding him of Cass.

Dick Grayson: Sailor Moon. He thinks she's very funny and sweet and loves her stupid speeches. I think he'd also be a Chibi-Usa fan and passionate defender. He does find it very funny how much like Bruce Tuxedo Mask is (and he appreciates his ridiculous speeches) so he's a fave too.

Barbara Gordon: She likes Mercury a lot, but her true favorites are Sailor Venus and Sailor Jupiter, they remind her of Dick and Dinah, and she just thinks they're fun. Hotaru also gives her a lot of feelings for reminding her of Cass.

Jason Todd: I think he'd like Sailor Mars and Sailor Uranus about equally (and he also likes Sailor Neptune). He really relates to how Haruka believes in doing what's necessary, even killing, and even vibes with how she's conflicted sometimes. Michiru is hard for him to pin down but he does really like her.

Tim Drake: Immediately Sailor Mercury came to mind. Considering his taste in friends and love interests he might like Sailor Venus (though the fact she reminds him of Kon would just annoy him half the time) but yeah, I think he'd vibe with Mercury the most, not just the "she's smart one" thing but he'd find her sweet and root for her to come out of her shell. He'd also be fond of Tuxedo Mask.

Stephanie Brown: Sailor Moon, but Mars and Venus are close seconds. She loves silly girls and she loves angry girls. She's fond of Hotaru too because she reminds her of Cass.

Cassandra Cain: Sailor Saturn, she really relates to her, but she also likes Sailor Moon a lot, mostly because she reminds her of Steph a bit and Usagi triggers her protective instincts.

Kate Kane: Like many a lesbian (myself included), Uranus and Neptune meant a lot to her when she was young and even if it weren't for that I think she really vibes with their personalities. Uranus might have the edge considering her taste, but I'm going to give her Neptune as a fave, she finds her intriguing.

Damian Wayne: Sailor Mars, self explanatory imo. Also he pretends he doesn't actually like the show and calls it stupid. He likes Luna and Artemis and Diana a lot.

Selina Kyle: Luna and Artemis and Diana lmao. But as far as humans go, Sailor Neptune. Her elegance and general loyalty and moral conflict appeal. She also likes Sailor Mars, and does feel protective of Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask reminding her of Bruce alternately makes her frustrated with him and have affection for him just like real life.

Alfred: Tuxedo Mask, he likes his taste in clothing and yep, reminds him of Bruce. He also likes Sailor Moon.

I have not read enough comics with Duke to pin him down, I'm sorry, (Maybe he'd like Sailor Moon? From what little I've read?) Same with Harper.

Well, for the Drakes. I was thinking they'd be aliens as well. But even within their culture they were aloof. Like maybe as strategists but not someone with a family circle. They had no clue what to do with a child. But, their king handed them a baby with his final breath. Earth looked safe, so that's where they went.

I'm sure they were baffled by earth human customs. I imagine raising children is different on earth. They were, however, good at negotiations, so they worked their way up the social ladder, hoping to give Tim a better life (not quite princely, but close).

I really like the idea about them searching for artifacts to teach Tim about their home!!! Good idea!! I'll have to use that!

The Drakes tried, but I think they mostly threw money at Tim. New bike? Sure. Want to learn Mandarin? Why not? Want a new nanny cause the last one was rude? Of course, your highness! Immediately!

New nannies happened all the time because timbo was a brat and fired them for petty stuff as a little kid.

Kori would be a fun add-on! Maybe she offers Tim slightly wrong advice culturally.

Are there any differences between Tim/the Drakes and humans? It would be funny if it's something small, especially that all humans have (like the ability to taste cinnamon or something). Just traits that Tim is able to get away with by leaning into his "I was neglected by my 'parents' and thus have no clue how to do normal human things like the human I totally am." Any physical traits (like a blue birthmark) could be cool as well.

Tim, if you wanted, could also bond with Kara and Clark about being an alien raised on Earth.

I think Damian could become an advisor for Tim. That would be kind of cute to see. They could also bond about being heirs of empires that they thought they would never actually inherit.

Dick could charm/be a court performer if he wanted to do that. Alfred would definitely get his hands on the kitchen staff to ensure Tim is properly being fed. Barbara would beef up Tim's security.

Cass would probably play pranks on Tim's "army" while Steph gathered blackmail on the planet's high society (and pull pranks on the ones that pissed her off).

I don't know enough about Helena Bertinelli, but maybe she would treat it as a fun vacation to intimidate rich people?

Duke might be interested in learning more about Tim's home world and what it's like to space travel. He would also be the one to accidentally set half the castle on fire.

I don't know if you'd like your AU to have all the Bats, but there's some stuff they could do.

okay so for background i work in first responder land, not as a first responder but my job deals with them on a regular basis. so basically here is my opinion on what kinda of first responder each of the batfam would be with little to no explanation :D

Alfred- maybe retired EMS? i know he does medical stuff with the bats so it just makes sense to me

Bruce- he’s a cop. idk what else to say he’s just such a cop and you can take that however you’d like🤨😐

Dick- 911 operator. i think he canonically was one at some point(please correct me if im wrong tho i am very slowly getting through comics) and its also one of the ones that just makes sense to me. like he wants to help but he does not want to do it on the same way B does and has always been good with people. so i feel like he’d probably enjoy it

Jason- maybe this is controversial but i’d say firefighter. like yes he died due to smoke inhalation but i also feel like he’d want to work through that trauma(bc bats can’t just go to therapy like normal people nooooo) by helping others to yk,,, not die in fires?? also it’s just another one of the ones idk how else to explain it the vibes are just there yk

Tim- I think he’d work in emergency management somewhere. like yes they are not exactly first responders and his character is a front lines guy, but we’ve also seen that he is a PLANNER. emergency management’s whole job is planning for what to do when things go to shit. plus they still go on scene as needed so he wouldn’t have to deal with JUST being a guy in a chair

Babs- i originally wasn’t gonna do her because i don’t really know her character all that well. but,,,, as i was writing tim’s i was like “oh this is also probably babs a bit ecspecially after her accident. like she was probably some sort of first responder,,, maybe cop to follow in her dads footsteps?? but also maybe not? like i said not exactly one of the characters know best,,,, but anyways after no longer being able to help on the front lines she joins gothams emergency management agency because they also help coordinate when big things happen so it makes sense to me

steph- another one i’m not super sure i know her characterization all that well outside of fandom, but im giving it my best go. i feel like she went into EMS. she spent some time with leslie and in a lot of normal capes aus i’ve read it seems like she’s always a med student so it makes sense to me

Cass- i’m actually kinda stumped on her. like realistically she could do any of the jobs she wanted because yk she’s highly skilled in damn near everything. like idk i just can’t picture her as anything other than kick ass vigilante. but if i had to choose,,,, maybe 911 operator, she could help with other languages and dispatchers really run this shit from the shadows. so final answer dispatcher i guess? but i feel like it is kinda a waste of her fighting talents but yk it is what it is

duke- he is another one i’m not 1000% on characterization, i don’t think he’s been in any of the comics i’ve read other than wayne family adventures. but anyways, my gut instinct was cop, but like in the way that he’s trying to change the system from the inside out. but then actually the whole gang thing came to mind and duke is def an ACAB kinda guy. like couldn’t stand to wear the uniform probs, so im actually gonna go with fire fighter. i also can’t really explain this one it’s just what my heart says.

Dami- he’s another one i think is a cop, but he is because he wants to be like Bruce. he starts out doing basically whatever B says but he eventually finds his own way. honestly i feel like after a stint he quits and joins like an EMS service for animals(i actually do not know if that’s a thing, but it is now) bc i think he would genuinely enjoy that and still feel like he’s helping yk?

Jason - Pink Pony Club Honestly I think Jason would be a huge Chappell fan, he'd here one of her older songs early on & not really pay attention until Pink Pony Club drops & her whole style changes, then he'd be completely about her everything. PPC is his fave b/c of the sense of community it fosters, along with the fact he heard it in a gay clib surrounded by others & has never felt so joyous. California is a close second fav though.

Duke - After Midnight Duke is a huge music nerd & while hanging out with Riko & Dax [also two music buffs] they stumbled across Chappell in the background of Olivia Rodrigo's song. Babs - My Kink is Karma Similar to Dick & Steph, Babs really got into Chappell during a depressive funk, Steph & Cass had already made her aware of Chappell. Kate - Casual Kate didn't have a favorite Chappell song, in fact she didn't even really know Chappell besides the whole rising lesbian artist in the back of her head. She ended up going to a concert with Renee & Casual clicked with her souls so quick. Memories of when she was more drifting than living, when she was the siren in someone else's story. It's her favorite song in the sad sort of ironic way.

It struck a cord with younger him, just having left Talia, making his way back to Gotham & feeling haunted by the years he spent so far away only to comeback to the place of his birth & sou-do death at 8. California is his second favorite song

Ha nerds I rise again like mold from an apple! But this time I will be truly unhinged, I’ve embraced chaos and am ready to give it to everyone by mashing together my three brain rotting hyperfixations!

Today I will illuminate the hat ffxiv Job the Batfamily have as well as what Magnus Archives Entity they would be aligned with me! No one wants this, no one needs this, but everyone will suffer with me!

Bruce: Dark Knight, come on this man is too edgy and sad to not be the spooky shadow tank, but also he’s truly driven to protect his family and will use anything at his disposal to keep them safe. Like wise I think Bruce would be aligned with the Lonely. Bruce seems to so desperately want to foster a close and loving relationship with so many people but many times can’t help but push them away and wallow in his self inflicted solitude.

Dick: This was hard but ultimately I settled on Dancer, put the pitchforks down! Dancer is a flexible and spritely class that supports its Allies and helps them to rise up to their true potential, similarly Dick’s true strength shines when he is supporting and guiding his friends and loved ones through difficult situations. I think Dick would be associated with the Stranger. Aside from Dicks background as a circus kid and flexibility that borders of contortionist horror, Dick struggles with his mailable sense of self and even a bit of imposter syndrome, this is expanded by him spending half his life behind a literal mask.

Jason: Reaper, this bitch is dramatic as hell and everyone loves him for it. I think Jason’s closeness with death, and the fact he’s way more chill about cutting a bitch, makes reaper feel like a good fit, additionally jason can get a serious power boost from the Lazarus pit at the cost of his self control, similar to the reaper class. Again staying on theme Jason would obviously be associated with the End. He’s died and come back to life and has had an unstable grasp on reality and mortality ever since.

Tim: Machinist, boy loves his gadgets what else is there to say. Tim to me gives big Spiral vibes, this boy is a sleep deprived little liar. I mean seriously he can lie to Batman on 49 hrs of no sleep and no one suspects a thing. Also again with that imposter syndrome except instead of feeling like he isn’t who he is he feels like he’s tricked everyone into thinking he’s better than he is and is just waiting for the shoe to drop. Little does he know everyone loves him!

Damian: Samurai, nothing else to say it is what it is. I think Damian fits really well with the Slaughter, he is prone to acts of violence by very little and while I think deep down he wants to be less bristled to his brothers he struggles a lot with overcoming what he’s been taught.

Duke: This one is hard for me but I ultimately settled on Astrologian. I think it works with Dukes ability to manipulate light and even glimpse the future a little so the space fortune teller class seemed to fit. I feel like it is so hard to fit a fear with Duke sense the fandom interpretation of him is that he is the most hinged, not true by the way, but he just hasn’t been as deeply explored when it comes to trauma. I think Duke is also a bit of the odd one out, he works with light and operates in the day, he has powers, etc. For this reason I think Duke should be aligned with the Web. I don’t think it’s necessarily because he is perceived as normal but it is also that. Duke comes across as the most open and normal of the batfam but he’s arguably the least conventionally normal, he just passes the best, I also think dukes future sight could be connected with the webs complex plans and long term foresight.

Cass: Ninja, obviously. I think Cass fits with the Dark really well, not just because she’s quiet and spooky but also because she was raised in cult environment! Cass is more in tune with stealth and darkness than even Bruce and she has dedicated herself to not just navigating darkness but weaponizing it.

Alternatives:

Dick: The Spiral, Web or Vast. Dick has a complex relationship with long falls and also has experienced mind control and amnesia the most viciously out of many of the batfam.

Bruce: The Dark and the Hunt. Bruce struggles with not letting his person as Batman consume him, giving up everything for the mission, his kids are honestly what keeps him from crossing that line.

Jason: The Corruption, Slaughter and Flesh: Feeling like the Lazarus Pit has changed him so fundamentally that he isn’t who he was before also the murder. Also the Buried but we don’t talk about that.

Tim: The Eye, Slaughter and Lonely. Tim has HUGE Jonathan Archivist Sims vibes he also maybe likes killing people a little to much, also sad boi.

Damian: The Hunt and The End. He’s died before and it’s kinda the same thing as Bruce where he really refers on the edge of going full serial killer.

Cass: The stranger. Spooky dancing lady go brrrrrrrr.

Duke: The stranger and the vast: Fuke standing out so much from his family gives big stranger vibes bb. Also he can fly so he’s the vast automatically.

Batfam as musicals:

Bruce - his taste would be like that God awful production of American psycho/Les miserables and no in between, gets caught enjoying Finding neverland and everyone makes fun of him

Dick - Water for elephants (silver stars specially it's very early Nightwing coded) but for a more mainstream one he'd say Greatest showman or something, I hc he complains of the movie's lack of accuracy portraying the circus

Jason - I have this bias that he would watch The outsiders musical exactly once and then colapse! But also given his character was introduced in the 80s prime musical era he was an avid fan of Little shop of horrors back in his Robin days, many fics draw parallels of his background to some characters and songs! (I also see him arguing about how Tony's are rigged if any of the batsiblings so much as tried to enjoy dear Evan Hansen because literature nerd + musical nerd makes for a Great comet fan)

Tim - he's a The lightning thief kid through and through, the ansty comedy of the show is just like his best Robin comics Fr, he's the type of guy to know what Bad Cinderella is only to fake he likes it to enrage theater fans (Jason)

Damian - either he enjoys some movie soundtracks and albums (Joe Hisaishi works or things like Where the sky ends) and a couple shows (Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hadestown) or does not like musicals at all because his disbelief is never suspended enough to like them over regular theater (current Damian runs would I cline me to say in the heights but idk)

Steph - Amelie and Mamma Mia, vibes with some heart wrenching lyrics in between. Also things like 36 questions or Next to normal

Cass - The ATLA musical and Anastasia, I think she'd enjoy some of the EPIC demos too but is more of an instrumental type of girl, she has the vibe to study musical books to search for a piece for a dance routine

Duke - Newsies enjoyer, (maybe he'd like more niche stuff like the Good omens or Frog and toad musicals and it catches everyone (Jason) by surprise), WFA Duke looks like he enjoys the West end's &Juliet in the best way possible

Batfamily as Swifties: Headcanons

Jason is a huge Swiftie-- he loves the lyricism; it really appeals to his classic lit snob side. He especially vibes with Reputation era (LWYMMD anyone??)

His voice-mail is 100% "I'm sorry, the old Jason can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, 'cause he's dead."

(Bruce hates it but everyone else thinks it's funny)

Dick and Steph are Swifties thru and thru and proud of it.

The rest of the family are swifties too but in the closet and make fun of Dick and Steph for their obsession.

Babs is a BLINK but a secret Swiftie. She is caught when she's helping with a case. Babs instantly recognizes the background audio.

Babs: ...I heard Dick play it??

Tim: You recognized it that fast?

He's skeptical but glad someone else said it before HE did. He's teased enough about his ___ obsession as it is.

Tim is outed by Jason, who unplugs his headphones when he falls asleep, trying to pull a prank. What happens is better than Jason hoped. Tim's phone connects to the Batcave bluetooth speakers. Red blares, startling Tim awake and he falls off his chair.

He tries to cover it up by saying it's for a case. Jason uses his superior height and weight to scroll thru Tim's music files while Tim tries to retrieve his phone. The largest folder is labeled "rachmanoff" so the family wont be suspicious but it's every single Taylor Swift song (Taylor's Version) in existence. His attempt at getting out of teasing is unsuccessful.

Now they all blast their favorite songs throughout the manor...luckily Alfred likes her music too!

What ships do you like with all the Bats?

All of the bats???? Damn

So starting with Bruce, my fav ship for him is probably batcat. I just think they're cute and she's a great character. But superbat and superwonderbat do have their appeal - again I'll say my main problem with this is I literally cannot picture a Clark who isn't in love with Lois, but polyamory fixes this for the most part in theory. In practice anytime I've read anything superbat either Clark has been gay or clois aren't together for some reason and it always low-key throws me off

As for Dick there aren't many people I don't ship him with it honestly? Certainly I can work with any ship that's even sort of mainstream. So birdflash, dickbabs, dickory, dickroy, etc. As long as it's not incest or Slade Wilson, I could conceivably go for it

For Jason I'm basically strictly JayRoy and joyfire, with the occasional jaytemis thrown in there. Idk I don't vibe with most of his canon love interests

Tim's a canon bicycle honestly but uh timkon obviously, timber, timsteph, timberkon, timpulse, timbartkon, core four as a ship, I can and have vibed with all of them in fic

We've already covered timsteph but obviously I also like stephcass!! Beyond that I honestly don't know enough about Cass or Steph to ship them with anybody else tho. I know Cass has gone on a couple of dates with Kon and that's a no from me but beyond that I have nothing. If they have insane chemistry with other characters please send the relevant panels my way!

Damian's still a bby for real he's 14 but damijon is literally so obvious and it helps that poisonivory has written some really good fic for them

Omg okay. I haven’t thought of this before but NOW I have thoughts!

First, I would stick to the martial classes rather than magic classes from the start. Saying that, I do like the idea of certain bat fam members dabbling in multiclassing (like someone mentioned in the comments- Babs being divination wizard after retired from batgirl, it fits Oracle, okay..)

Now for specifics:

Fighter: “combatants capable of effectively wielding any type of weapon or armor”

This might be controversial, but I’m a diehard believer in Fighter!Bruce. Bruce is skilled in a variety of weapons and tech, it soothes my brain.

Monk: “skilled martial artists that uniquely blend the use of dexterity and wisdom in combat”

The vibes fit Cass and Batgirl!Babs. My first classic D&D character was a monk so, I hold a special place in my heart for the class. The use of dexterity and wisdom just got their personalities so well.

Paladin: “holy warriors sworn to oaths”

Okay, so this might fit Bruce to a T, at least this description. But I decided five minutes ago to be a diehard Fighter!Bruce. And that’s because Bruce decided to learn to fight before knowing how he was going to use it. If he had chosen to become Batman and then learned how to be Batman, it would be Paladin. But he travelled and learned and then made his oath.

So, I stand by Stephany and Damian as Paladins. I think both of them had a cause from the beginning to fight for and that’s what makes a Paladin for me.

I would even fight for Paladin!Jason. Jason has a heart for the people Crime Alley and cleaning up Gotham. He always has. It fits.

Ranger: “experienced in traversing the wilderness”

I could stand behind Tim or even Damian, but I don’t feel it strongly. Rangers are a slightly hard class to pinpoint for me. Tim definitely works not only in close range, but also multi step plans that are like dominos. So I can see him working as a Ranger.

Damian fits more of the wilderness part, but I feel he’s unlikely to stay at a distance. He likes stabbing too much.

Rogue: “specialize in stealth and are mobile characters capable of dealing serious damage from afar or with a finesse weapon”

As someone previously stated, all Robins are Rouges. It’s just facts. The question is if they stay that way. Dick, who made the Robin mantle what it is, is a rogue by nature. Nightwing is still a rogue. Dick Grayson is a rogue, albeit one who dazzles and disappears. Tim also heavily resembles a rogue. Slipping in and out and is gone.

Jason and Damian fit here too, but I live for them as paladins instead.

Barbarian: “utilize their brute strength to overcome their problems, Barbarians are resilient heavy-hitters that can draw power through their rage in combat”

I don’t think our BatFam has many, if any, Barbarians. Barbarians tend to just smash their way through things and aren’t known for their intelligence (in general, I love a smart barbarian tho). That being said, Lazarus Pit Mad Jason Todd would be a barbarian. So this feels like a multi-class, 2 levels in Barbarian for Jaybird if we’re going that in depth for these NPCs.

I am going insane. So I poured my restlessness into one long and very detailed post and got super into it. Please enjoy this hot mess.

The Justice League, being the well-meaning virus-proof Super Friends that they are, took one good look at the news, one good look at their non-powered friends Ollie, Bruce, and their families, and collectively decided that these normal humans must be Protected At All Costs.

Now, keep in mind, Bruce is never one to roll over when it comes to being benched. 

However, he understands the importance of social distancing. He knows he needs to set a good example for his kids, and keep up appearances as Gotham’s Most Responsible Multi-Billionaire. 

So. Quarantine it is. 

But how are his kids handling it?

Dick - 

100% on board in the beginning. Gotta do the Responsible Thing. Gotta set a Good Example. Besides, guys, this is gonna be Fun. Quality Family Time is always a Must.

He lasted 2 days. 

Then he started to get twitchy. 

And as everyone knows? A Trapped Dick Grayson is a Feral Dick Grayson.

He bounces off the walls.

Literally.

“I have to climb.” 

“Dick, no.”  

“I have to climb everything.”

Has scaled the manor 16 times already. Has climbed the chandelier. The banister. Bruce. The roof. The Cave. Anything in the house that’s been bolted down and especially anything that hasn’t. 

Duke found him clinging to the wall 10 ft off the ground like Spiderman and screamed so loud it shattered glass. 

Desperate for news of the outside. 

He thrives off of it like a starving man. 

Was the one to suggest he and Barbara take a break to Social Distance from each other (”Sorry, babe, kissing spreads germs”) and experienced Instant Regret(TM) approximately 5 minutes after. 

The Family has labelled him a Flight Risk Level 1 (Most likely to say f**k it and make a break for the outside world)

Jason - 

Accidentally got trapped inside the manor with the others when Bruce called Shutdown. If he had his way, he’d be chilling in his favorite safe-house right now, binging The Witcher with Roy and Artemis, and not worrying about finding a stray brother in his sock drawer.

But he’s nothing if not an opportunist. 

The way he sees it, Jason has 3 options:

Self Improvement

Self Isolation (See Duke, Cass, and Damian)

Descension Into Madness (See Dick and Steph)

And, well, he always wanted to try a few things. Now he’s got the free time to do it.

So he settles on baking. 

Alfred’s got enough food and raw ingredients stored up to feed an army. (Not because he’s a Panic-Buying-Hoarder in times like these. But because he’s a Panic-Buying-Hoarder all the time. Just try feeding 11+ teenagers sometime.)

Uses recipes he finds off Google.

His first few attempts are, in a word, ‘tragic’.

Alfred slips him a few of his recipe cards, and Jason suddenly starts seeing Results. 

Turns out he’s pretty good at this baking thing once he gets the hang of it. 

Hope everyone’s okay eating nothing but pie, macaroons, biscuits, and whatever else Jason whips up. 

Cause that’s gonna be the only food left by the time he’s done. 

Barbara - 

Self-quarantined with her dad. 

They’ve been binge-watching classic black and white movies together.

It’s a fun time, but she’s started to get a little antsy. Loving her dad and wanting to be around him 24/7 are, understandably, mutually exclusive. 

Calls the manor to video-chat every day.

For her sanity just as much as theirs. 

Gives everyone little challenges to film on their phones and send in. She makes compilations of everyone’s submissions so they can all watch and laugh together. 

Bonus points for Creativity

One comp shows the family trying to drop Mentos into coke bottles. 

Dick did a handstand, and dropped his Mento from the second story balcony. 

Tim did it wearing the Batman cowl. The soda exploded into his face, and the rest of the video is just Bruce’s Shrieking.

Stephanie tried it, but the bottle tipped. Everyone on camera screamed as the bottle rocketed through the front window. 

She spends most of her calls having one-on-one convos with Dick.

They’ve come up with little code phrases so they can be Cheesy even with family members lurking in the background. 

She thinks the way he clings to the monitor is cute. 

Almost like he’s giving her a hug through the screen. 

(It’s easier than letting herself worry about his mental state, at least)

Tim -

Oh this boy.

Freaked out for the first five minutes before he decided ‘hey wait, Bruce is letting me stay in my pajamas all day? Noice.’ 

Now he’s just vibing.

The rest of his family is Low-Key shielding him.

He Has No Spleen, you see.

Steph: “Someone could cough on him and he could die!”

He just goes about his day, playing Animal Crossing like there’s no tomorrow, tinkering on projects, taking naps, etc. Living his best life.

Meanwhile there’s always someone lurking behind him, keeping watch, keeping him safe. 

Dick sneezed within 5 feet of Tim once (the fact that he was on top of the dusty bookshelf Tim was perusing is irrelevant)

Jason still full-body tackled him the second Tim’s back was turned. 

No one with any symptoms--

Like, any symptoms. They don’t even have to be Corona-related.

--is allowed within 10 feet of Tim. 

Tim has been wandering the manor for weeks, now, without seeing another human being. 

(He sees Dick on the ceiling sometimes, but that doesn’t really count)

He’s been trying increasingly drastic pranks and shenanigans to draw someone, anyone, out. 

But it doesn’t matter how many times he steals Damian’s sword, or sets fire to Jason’s brownie bites.

Nobody wants to risk it. 

Cass - 

No one has seen her since quarantine started.

Everyone is approximately 87% sure she’s somewhere in the manor though

Because she does eat the meals Alfred leaves out for her.

Or at least someone does, at any rate. 

(Jason and Santa top the running suspects list)

Santa was Steph’s suggestion. For some reason it snowballed. 

It’s assumed that Cass misunderstood the meaning of ‘social distancing’ and took it too far. 

But no one knows for sure. 

She is Tim’s Guardian Angel. 

People who so much as clear their throats a little too loudly anywhere near him suddenly wake up on a different floor of the house four hours later. 

Duke came closest to spotting her while he was up in the attic. 

Either that, or there’s another Creepy Sister everyone forgot to tell him about living up there.

She is silent, and watchful, sticking to the shadows, but she does leave the occasional note out to brighten her siblings’ day. 

Things like ‘helo i love u’ and ‘hop u ar ok’  mostly. 

She is bound and determined to protect her family from this invisible threat, no matter the cost. 

Steph - 

Like Dick, she was Super Pumped at first. 

(Just kind of showed up at Wayne Manor before quarantine was enacted. The original purpose of her visit is unclear, but regardless, she’s Trapped.)

Also Like Dick, her descent into madness was swift.

She is impossible to pin down. 

Not like Cass or Damian, who’ve stayed off the grid, and are therefore Untraceable. 

No. She’s impossible to pin down, because she never stops moving. 

Switches seamlessly between Zumba on top of the Giant Dinosaur in the Batcave, and furiously knitting Alfred (the Cat) a sweater with a pair of Tim’s used chopsticks. 

Braided everyone’s hair while they were asleep.

Even Bruce’s. 

She tried to do Tim’s, but somehow blacked out and regained consciousness in the attic. 

When she woke up with a scream and a furiously twitching eye, she startled Duke out of his Makeshift Fort he built out of old cardboard boxes and antique furniture. He’s had to resort to finding a new hiding place. 

Sometimes, on the rare occasions she does sit still, staring off into the distance, she’ll suddenly start laughing hysterically. This may last between thirty seconds and thirty minutes, depending entirely on how long it’s been since she’s knitted a cat sweater or done cartwheels through every room in the house.

Blew up the greenhouse out back, somehow.

Everyone has agreed not to talk about it.

Some people were built to handle prolonged time inside their homes.

Stephanie Brown is not that way.

Damian - 

Damian Wayne Cannot Be Contained.

At least not inside the house. 

He took off thirty-six hours into quarantine. 

Thanks to the security equipment around the borders of the Wayne Estate, he can’t escape the grounds. 

(He’s tried and failed multiple times. Jason and Bruce have a running bet on how many times the perimeter alarms will go off per day.)

(Jason is winning.)

He wanders the grounds with Titus as his only companion. 

The two of them run laps, practice drills, and find ways to occupy their time. 

No one’s entirely sure what those ways are. 

In fact, nobody knows exactly where Damian is at any given time. 

Only that he is Out There. 

And he’s the best security system Wayne Manor’s ever had. 

So far, he’s stopped five groups of civilians scaling the perimeter walls before the lasers and electric nets even have a chance to deploy.

They were trying to break in and steal supplies. 

(Even ones they already had in surplus. Like Toilet Paper.)

He’s also stopped Dick from escaping twelve (12) times.

Drags him back by his shirt collar and deposits him on the welcome mat. 

Usually with a note for Alfred/Jason, requesting more fruit tarts. 

Duke - 

Did not leave the attic for two weeks. 

Then Steph discovered his hiding spot (read: was dumped there by Cassandra) which forced him to relocate to the basement. 

Yes, it turns out Wayne Manor does have a basement. 

This was a surprise to Duke, who always thought that the Batcave was Bruce Wayne’s basement. 

Alfred keeps him supplied with all the necessities:

i.e. food, magazines, assorted pastries from Jason’s latest batch, usually straight out of the oven.

Duke also snagged the Manor’s Alexa. 

She has become a sort of ‘Wilson’ to Duke’s ‘Chuck Noland’.

She is his only comfort. His only ally. 

He’s determined to wait out this quarantine, doing his best to avoid the others. 

Duke has seen these people under pressure. 

He knows exactly what he’s dealing with. 

Duke: “Alexa is the only motherf****r in this madhouse I ever respected.”

*offended butler noises from the other room*

Duke: “And also Alfred.”

Ok so I’m bored again so here’s another headcanon: what are the batfam’s favorite sports? To watch and to play, based off canon and vibes.

Alfred: for some reason, I think Alfred likes to swim. Just like laps or something, nothing fancy. To watch, he likes golf or tennis (I don’t really know, this one was 100% vibes).

Bruce: to play, he likes golf, and to watch, he also likes golf, occasionally with mma or tennis in there (also vibes (rich guy+Batman)).

Dick: To play, gymnastics, obviously. He never stopped loving it. To watch, he kinda just watches whatever is on, but he prefers wrestling, gymnastics, or swimming (vibes+character background)

Jason: I don’t think Jason really likes sports, I think he would rather read than play a sport. If he does have to play or watch a sport, I think he would watch basketball or hockey because they’re fast paced and exiting.

Tim: I think Tim would play and watch basketball, because he likes to see the impressive shots and plays and try to recreate them as best he can. (Vibes)

Damian: Damian will kind of do anything, as long as it’s with someone else (unless it’s Tim, or basketball, because Tim). To watch, he will always watch dog shows and competitions, and he will absolutely watch the puppy bowl. (Vibes+a little bit of character background)

Cass: Cass likes to do ballet, and this is true in canon. To watch, she will watch whatever’s on, as long as it is somewhat faced paced. (so pretty much no golf) (vibes for watch, canon for play)

Steph: I think Steph will watch and play basketball, but she will also watch Cass do ballet. (Mostly vibes, a little bit character background)

Barbara: I think Barbara would either play basketball with Tim or Steph, or ballet with Cass. To watch, [I have absolutely no clue, please let me know what you think, and I’ll change this bit to whatever fits the best].

Duke: I think duke would kind of do anything with anyone, as long as it isn’t tennis or dog-related (Damian).

What music genres do you think the batfam members listen to?I ask this because of how little Alternative music fan headcannons there are. I personally think Tim enjoys grunge and or nu metal(Specifically bands like limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Korn, and System of a Down)

I'm not too familiar with genres, so I'll be giving this my best shot. I typically listen to music by the vibe it gives. My playlists include music that makes my brain go brr (the nice dissociation), songs for muses, ones to scandalize my mother, music a garage band would play, songs that make God fear me, and a long playlist for pleasant company.

Anyways, I've seen a few fics where people say that Bruce and Tim share a love of those genres. I could definitely see Tim listening to the ones you mentioned. He probably plays it through his preferred headphones as he fixes electronics, codes, or plots destruction. He also, because he suppresses his anger a lot, probably listens to music like Ghostemane, Kim Dracula, and Freddie Dredd.

Jason definitely enjoys musicals. Dick as well, but Jason isn't as vocal about it. Instead, Jason will listen to 80's rock and 2000's girl bands if others around (he ofc listens to TLC).

I like to think that they all enjoy music in different languages. For Dick and Damian, they especially like music they grew up listening to in their respective cultures. The others, because the batfam is multilingual, just enjoy all kinds of different tunes in multiple languages. The batfam playlist, especially for hanging out in the cave, is chaotic. Bruce nearly had an aneurysm the first time he heard Touch You (Yarichin Bitch Club) over the speakers. The only reason the kids didn't get in trouble was because Damian was out with Colin at the time.

I hc that Cass likes lofi hip hop music. She typically enjoys all songs but prefers those without words (because understanding words still requires energy from her and can prevent her from fully relaxing). She does listen to a lot of classical music, a passion she shares with Alfred.

Alfred, the man the myth the legend, enjoys swing music the most. He'll put on a variety of music in the kitchen (different classical eras, opera music, the occasional musical, jazz, some more modern instrumental music, and some movie background tracks), but the whole fam knowns he's in a really good mood if swing music is playing.

Bruce is the type of person to just listen to what's on. Unless he dislikes the music, he will be fine with whatever his kids or Alfred have playing. He particularly enjoys alternative rock and old country music (like Garth Brooks), but he doesn't usually fight for the aux cord.

Barbara has playlists depending on her mood. Birds of Prey mission prep? Bruce being a dick? Dick being a dick? Batfam drama she has to once again intervene in? Coding nights? Can't get out of bed days? She also has a few playlists for each person she regularly interacts with. For calm or bad nights, she'll put the playlist in that person's comm. Duke is most definitely a Mitski, Hozier, Crane Wives enjoyer, and you can pry that hc from my cold, dead hands. He probably also likes songs similar to "Ancapistan" by Jreg or "The Fine Print" by The Stupendium.

Dick's music is either super high in energy or sad as fuck. He loves the songs "Has Anbody Seen My Will to Live" by The Tin Knees and "Copacabana (At the Copa)" by Barry Manilow because they are both sad and happy :) I hc that he likes songs by TV Girl, Yot Club, Joji, and Cosmo Sheldrake. He also has a few playlists he follows of Zumba music. The song "The Masochism Tango" by Tom Lehrer is one of his favorites.
