Jacobini acted in the German Fox production Der Trödler von Amsterdam/ The Dealer from Amsterdam (Victor Janson 1925, Deutsche Vereins-Film AG (Defa-Deutsche Fox)). The plot deals with a poor old dealer, Arent van Bergh (Werner Krauss), whose only friend is Oliver, a young philosopher (Alf Blütecher). The dealer's daughter Annette (Jacobini) wants to escape the black hole she lives in and is easily won over by a friend to explore the sinful places of the city, where she becomes infatuated by a wild criminal (Anton Pointner). With Oliver's help the dealer will unmask the criminal as a ruthless murderer, which will open Annette's eyes. Diomira Jacobini (1899-1959) was one of the stars of the Italian silent cinema. She was the younger sister of film diva Maria Jacobini, in whose shadow she always stayed. Diomira appeared in some 55 films in Italy, Germany and Denmark.

La rinascita di Leopold Bloom

Chiamata internazionale aperta agli artisti di tutto il mondo.

Il bellissimo borgo antico di Sant'Ilario, nell’Isola d'Elba (Toscana), con le sue stradine di granito arrampicate sulle verdi colline, si era gradualmente spopolato negli ultimi anni a causa dell’abbandono delle attività agricole, perdendo il suo sapere antico, a causa dell’avvento del turismo di massa. Ultimamente questo borgo ha finalmente iniziato un lento processo di rinascita grazie soprattutto all'Arte. Nel 2022, nell’ambito di un più ampio progetto di riqualificazione, che comprende sia il recupero dei terreni ormai abbandonati ed invasi dai rovi, che il miglioramento dell'accoglienza turistica, diciannove artisti hanno infatti donato alla comunità che popola il borgo una loro opera d'arte. I dipinti, le opere grafiche e le sculture pervenuti fanno ora parte della collezione di una galleria civica sita nel centro di Sant'Ilario. Questo grande avvenimento ha preso il via il 25 agosto 2022 con l’evento “Voltine, una visione contemporanea”, con il patrocinio del comune di Campo nell’Elba (LI), una mostra a cura di Nico Carone e Federica Frati, in cui le opere donate a Sant'Ilario sono state allestite per una sera nei tipici elementi architettonici del paese, le Voltine appunto, nuovamente illuminate per l’occasione.

Questo evento ha restituito a Sant'Ilario l’antico splendore per una sera, amplificando l’enorme bellezza di questo luogo attraverso la cultura. In questa occasione si è formato il gruppo “Voltine”, con lo scopo di realizzare ulteriori eventi artistico-culturali nell’ambito del paese. Per l’estate 2023 stiamo creando un evento basato sulla Mail Art, stiamo per cui chiedendo ad artisti di tutto il mondo di inviare una o più immagini sul tema della Rinascita. Le opere pervenute saranno esposte nell’ambito della mostra “Voltine 2023”, nuovamente a cura di Nico Carone e Federica Frati, e gli artisti saranno menzionati in tutto il materiale promozionale dell’evento.

Crediamo che la Mail Art possa aiutarci a ricostruire un altro tassello della nuova vita di Sant'Ilario. L'arte è energia creativa, cambiamento, è la via per rinascere.

Regolamento:

1) Non è prevista alcuna tassa di iscrizione, non ci sarà una giuria. 2) Le opere non verranno restituite. 3) Scadenza 24 luglio 2023 – fa fede il timbro postale. 4) Tecnica libera. 5) Devono essere presentati solo lavori originali. 6) Sul retro della cartolina è necessario indicare: nome/cognome, data, titolo, indirizzo postale e indirizzo mail. 7) E’ possibile, anzi consigliato, inviare più di un’opera, con un massimo di 5 opere, cm 10x15 minimo ciascuna. 8) Le opere dovranno pervenire in forma cartacea via posta al seguente indirizzo: Gruppo Voltine c/o Elisabetta Pelleriti, via degli alberi 80, fraz. Sant’Ilario, 57034 Campo nell’Elba, Livorno. 9) Si lascia libera scelta se spedire le cartoline direttamente affrancate o affrancarle in busta chiusa. 10) Le opere non dovranno avere contenuti pubblicitari, immagini o testi che possano nuocere ai fruitori, trattare tematiche che offendano la moralità, presentare contenuti xenofobi, pornografici o lesivi della dignità pena l’esclusione. 11) Voltine si impegnerà a dare il massimo risalto all’evento con un’esposizione nel borgo di Sant’Ilario del materiale ricevuto nel mese di agosto 2023 (data da definire a breve) 12) Come in ogni progetto di Mail-Art le opere conformi alle regole di questo bando verranno tutte esposte. 13) Le opere non verranno restituite e si intendono donate per entrare a far parte della galleria civica del borgo di Sant’Ilario, libere di essere usate, così come la loro immagine, per promuovere e documentare il progetto. 14) I diritti d’autore sulle composizioni, le immagini delle opere, i testi inviati resteranno comunque di libero uso da parte degli autori per ogni ulteriore utilizzo. 15) Le/i partecipanti, spedendo le loro opere, acconsentono automaticamente all’utilizzo dei propri dati personali, dell’opera e delle immagini dell’opera, inviate ai sensi e per gli effetti degli artt. 13 e 23 del D.L.gs. n. 196/2003, per l’eventuale loro pubblicazione su catalogo, stampa, web, social e per ogni altra iniziativa ufficiale utile a promuovere l’evento ed eventi successivi. 16) L’invio delle opere implica l’accettazione del bando in ogni suo punto.

Czech soprano Jarmila Novotná (1907-1994) was one of the world-renowned opera luminaries of the 20th Century. Her film appearances were unfortunately few and far between. Jarmila Novotná was born in in Prague, Czech Republic in 1907. She studied singing with Emmy Destinn. In 1925, the 17-years-old Novotná made her operatic debut at the Prague Opera House as Marenka in Bedřich Smetana's Prodaná nevěsta (The Bartered Bride). Six days later, the lyric soprano sang there as Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata. The following year, she made her film debut in the silent film Vyznavaci slunce/The Sun Disciples (Václav Binovec, 1926), starring Luigi Serventi. In 1928 she starred in Verona as Gilda opposite Giacomo Lauri-Volpi in Verdi's Rigoletto and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples as Adina opposite Tito Schipa in Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore. In 1929 she joined the Kroll Opera in Berlin, where she sang Violetta as well as the title roles of Giacomo Puccini's Manon Lescaut and Madama Butterfly. When talking pictures arrived, she headlined in German films like Brand in Der Oper/Fire in the Opera House (Carl Froelich, 1930), with Gustaf Gründgens, Der Bettelstudent/The Beggar Student (Victor Janson, 1931), and the film version of The Bartered Bride, Die Verkaufte Braut (Max Ophüls, 1932). Hal Erickson at AllMovie on Die Verkaufte Braut (1930): “The original libretto, involving the comic misadventures of two mismatched couples, is given a respectable amount of attention, but the film's biggest selling card is the photographic dexterity of Max Ophuls, who never met a camera crane he didn't like. Since filmed opera was seldom big box-office in 1932, Ophuls concentrates on the farcical elements of the story; especially worth noting are comic contributions by Paul Kemp and Otto Wernicke, who seldom let their German film fans down. Curiously, star Jarmila Novotna, whose ‘live’ appearances in The Bartered Bride were much prized by contemporary critics, doesn't come off all that well in this film version.” Other films followed such as Nacht Der Grossen Liebe/Night of the Great Love (Geza von Bolvary, 1933) with Gustav Fröhlich. In January 1933 she created the female lead in Jaromir Weinberger's new operetta Frühlingsstürme (Spring Storms), opposite Richard Tauber at the Theater im Admiralspalast, Berlin. This was the last new operetta produced in the Weimar Republic, and she and Tauber were both soon forced to leave Germany by the new Nazi regime. Jarmila Novotnà returned to Czechoslovakia to star in the film Skrivanci pisen/Lark's Songs (Svatopluk Innemann, 1933). In 1934, she left for Vienna, where she created the title role in Franz Lehár's operetta Giuditta opposite Richard Tauber. Her immense success in that role led to a contract with the Vienna State Opera, where she was named Kammersängerin. She also appeared there with Tauber in The Bartered Bride and Madama Butterfly. In the cinema, she starred in the Austrian operetta film Frasquita (Karel Lamac, 1934) with Heinz Ruhmann, the Austrian romantic thriller Der Kosak und die Nachtigall/The Cossack and the Nightingale (Phil Jutzi, 1935) with Iván Petrovich, and in the French-British operetta film La dernière valse/The Last Waltz (Leo Mittler, 1935), which was made in two language versions. She then left the film industry to concentrate on her stage work with the Viennese State Opera. After the Anschluss of Austria, she had to leave Vienna. In January 1940 she made her debut with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as Mimí in Puccini's La bohème. From 1940 to 1956, Novotná performed regularly at the Met. In 1946 she returned before the cameras in a straight dramatic role in the Hollywood production The Search (Fred Zinnemann, 1946), starring Montgomery Clift. The Search is a semi-documentary film on the plight of WWII orphans. Novotná played a Czech mother who has lost contact with her young son when they were in Auschwitz and she now travels from one refugee camp to another in search of him. Novotna's then played turn of the century diva Maria Selka in the biopic The Great Caruso (Richard Thorpe, 1951), featuring Mario Lanza. The film traces legendary tenor Enrico Caruso's ascension from adolescent choir singer in Naples to the uppermost ranks of the opera world. Mario Lanza's tenor voice made this film one of the top box-office draws of 1951, and this helped to popularize opera among the general public. On TV she appeared in The Great Waltz (Max Liebman, 1955), which charts the life and times of composer Johann Strauss, Jr. She also played Hans’ mother in the TV musical Hans Brinker, or the Silver Skates (Sidney Lumet, 1958), starring Tab Hunter. Her last screen appearance was as an interviewee in the documentary Toscanini: The Maestro (Peter Rosen, 1985). At 85, Jarmila Novotná passed away in 1994 in New York. 몇년전에 폴란드 친구 온라인 만났다. 그녀가 정말 달콤했고 좀 풀란드어를 가르쳤다 나에게. 아마 아직 음식을 폴란드어로 주문할 수 있는 것 같다… 어쨌든 네, 우리도 펜팔 친구가 되었다. 내 데스크탑 서랍 안에 여전히 그녀의 편지와 그림엽서가 있다 이제. 그녀가 여젼히 내 것을 가지고 있죠?
