some fluffy hcs for ya 💞
reggie becomes a regular at julie and flynn’s sleepover sessions and they stay up til 3 just watching cartoons
reggie learns to make bracelets with flynn and starts wearing 10 on his wrists like the girls do
alex basically adopts carrie as his younger sister and they spend tons of time together. alex teaches carrie how to drum and carrie teaches alex dirty candy moves
ray takes the boys shopping one day and gets them all a bunch of new clothes!
except julie will constantly be stealing them, you’ll catch her hoarding alex’s sweatshirts
flynn and reggie are the ‘pure of heart, dumb of ass + lesbian’ best friends. flynn absolutely endorses reggie’s silly antics (even though she shouldn’t) and whenever flynn has crushes she wants to talk about she’ll go to reggie
julie and luke do a whole bunch of diy-ing on clothes. they’ll buy old tshirts at the thrift store and crop them or cut off the sleeves and doodle all over them
the boys all adore carlos and will go to his baseball games to support him! carlos also teaches them video games and they love playing together
sending lots of love! 💖💕💞 -@reggiesjams
i think reggie would LOVE the dragon prince. he would be so excited by it.
he makes a ton of bracelets for the other boys. they quickly run out of room but they don’t have the heart to tell reggie to stop making them (bc he loves giving them things and making them helps him destress) so p soon they’ve got both arms full, they’ve got anklets, etc
carrie definitely introduces alex to all the pop queens, like lady gaga, carly rae jepsen, p!nk, etc etc. meanwhile i think alex helps carrie embrace her wlw-ness
all of the boys are really awkward about it and are really worried about like admitting they like something, but ray catches alex looking at a holographic jacket and gets it, and once they really see that he’s happy to help them, they loosen up a little
alex steals willie’s clothes, julie steals the boys’, flynn steals julie’s, and next thing u know they’re on a wild goose chase bc alex feels bad about stealing willie’s hoodie and it turns out it’s in flynn’s closet the whole time
flynn once had a crush on julie so i think she helps reggie deal with his newly discovered feelings for luke,,,, she gets the crushing on ur best friend situation. but also yes like reggie gets obsessed with those stupid ‘is water wet’ questions and it drives julie NUTS so flynn just gives him more and more ammo
i think they all do diys. reggie gets super into bedazzling, luke obviously loves cutting off the sleeves and cropping things, alex tries cropping a hoodie and the first time willie sees him in one he trips off his skateboard
they grab the fencing at a baseball game and start shaking it as they cheer for him and people just start seeing the fence shake for no reason?? and they start chanting for carlos but they get a little too musical about it and people are like ‘um??? who’s yelling???’ so julie, flynn, and ray have to scramble to cover it up

Negotiation of Terms by grapehyasynth (rated G) David told Patrick early in their relationship that he hates pet names. A visit to Patrick's hometown early in their marriage makes Patrick think otherwise
not on the test by fishyspots (rated G) “What does Alexis need?” Patrick asks around midterms. “A life,” David answers without looking up from where he’s turning the lotions so that the spouts are at the same forty-five-degree angle. Patrick presses his lips together. He should have known David wasn’t going to make this easy for him. “For school.” Or, Patrick puts together some things for Alexis when she's stressed about tests.

All the other boys try to chase me by DesignatedGrape (rated T) Lawnmower guy is taking a break and stretching his arms out, reaching one hand behind his head, showing off his pecs and revealing just a little bit of toned stomach where his shirt rides up. Yum. She glances over at her brother. Just because David doesn’t want to have any fun, doesn’t mean she can’t. Inspired by the music video for the timeless classic, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.
David’s Great Idea by sonlali (rated G) Set during season 2, episode 10 "Ronnie's Party", David is baby-sitting Mandy and finds out that she will have to stay later than expected. He decides they should have a slumber party of sorts to pass the time.
An Entirely Different Orchard by flowerfan (rated T) Sometimes you just need to get your friends together and make a fire. Coda to episode S05e08, The Hospies.
it’s possible you can be really, genuinely cool by another_Hero (rated G) Ted's staying the night with Alexis, which means David needs to be ANYWHERE else. Patrick, it turns out, is camping tonight. But Ray invites David in to watch Notting Hill, and like...it's Notting Hill
like a song that goes around in my head by dinnfameron (rated T) Patrick notices that there're a lot of songs about roses. And that David hates having them sung at him when he least expects it. So Patrick makes sure to never, ever do that. aka Patrick's Level of Trolling is Directly Proportional to How Much He Adores David Rose
Love is a Place by rockinhamburger (rated T) As they’re finishing up, Patrick gets out his wallet - to pay, David hopes; he forgot his - but Patrick merely retrieves a key from one of the flaps. He places it on the table beside David’s empty plate. “That’s for you.” A fic about keys.
petrichor by withkissesfour (rated T) The pollen bleeds bright orange against his pink skin, like a birthmark, like he’s being made new, his first birthday on his thirtieth, and he has to learn every inch of himself again, and he doesn’t know where to start. God, he wants David. David would know where to start. Long showers after Patrick's surprise party.
Seen by stevierosebudds (rated T) The night of "The Olive Branch," David is finally starting to feel comfortable enough to trust Patrick fully--perhaps more than he even realizes himself.
A Timing Thing by flowerfan (rated T) Sometimes a lease is more than a piece of paper. Part of a continuing series of Season 5 episode codas.
The winds will wash you out your hair, my dears. by another_Hero (rated G) The night before the wedding, Rachel crashes at Patrick's. Ice cream is involved.

All that you are by JessX2231 (rated G) 5 times Patrick uses a pet name for David + and every other time he doesn’t
So Worth the Yearning For by nameless_bliss (rated T) “There’s something I need to tell you.” David frowns at the reflection of Patrick in the bathroom mirror. “Uh-oh.” “No, not like that. I just need to warn you about something.” David turns to frown at the actual Patrick standing next to him. “Uh-oh.” David learns that Patrick's love comes with a disclaimer.
*
5 - 10k words
Improv Piecing by nameless_bliss (rated T) To him, it’s like fabric. He’s not sure that makes sense, but that’s how it feels. It doesn’t come to him as one big, normal thing. It comes to him as scraps of fabric. Adelina compliments him on his report card, and that’s a scrap. Mom brushes his hair off of his forehead, and that’s a scrap. Dad buys him a tie so they’ll match at the Christmas party this year, a scrap. Alexis hides behind him when the paparazzi get too close on the street, scrap. Problem is: he doesn’t know what to do with them. Affection is tricky. And David was never taught how to sew.
let’s stay (caught up in the moment) by startswithhope (rated E) After the grant money he promised to get was delayed by an emergency bridge repair project, Patrick's done his best to help David with the store while still working at Ray’s, not giving him enough time to ascertain where David’s head might be, in terms of his feelings or interest or whatever in anything beyond the friendship they’ve built these many months. Sure, they banter, which Patrick hopes David is seeing as flirting, but David’s so quick witted with everyone that Patrick isn’t sure that what they have is special. It’s special to him, special in ways he’s still coming to grips with, but is it special to David?
*

standing in the sunlight in the middle of the street by apothefarley (rated M) David is done with New York, until he isn't, has dealt with it, until he hasn't.
Where the Real Road Lies by unfolded73 (rated M) Twenty-two years into their marriage, David is diagnosed with early-onset dementia. He and Patrick attempt to navigate what that means for their lives.
You Have No Home, You Have No Walls by odofidi (rated M) David returns home to Schitt's Creek after a ten year absence for his sister's wedding where he is forced to face not only the reasons he left in the first place, but the mistakes that he's made along the way.

Songs that speak to the millions
It would be easy to speculate that Taylor’s in a happier place these days – Lover is undoubtedly a celebratory album, dewy-eyed as much about those luscious pop melodies as the lyrical inspirations behind its 18 tracks. Take ‘London Boy’… now who could that be about? But that simplistic view of Taylor’s motivations serves to deny her solid-gold professional sensibility, which seems to be steering her back to the sweet spot: songs that speak to the millions, with universal themes packaged into each sugar-rush three-minutes-or-so.
‘Cornelia Street’ is a case in point. You’ve probably never knowingly been to anywhere with that name, but it’s a geography we are all familiar with: a heartful of memories made so much richer when they are drenched – as here – in the atmosphere of a soaring synth ballad. Much of Lover draws inspiration from the 80s – not so much in throwback pastiche; rather the sensibility that bigger is likely to be better, and there’s rarely a good reason to spare just one more musical hook. Promotional single ‘The Archer’ and album track ‘Daylight’ offer a lighter touch, but ‘False God’ is beefed up by the drama of deeper production wizardry, and is all the stronger for it. Elsewhere, ‘Afterglow’ is an epic stadium anthem that showcases some of Taylor’s best vocals to date. That it’s buried away towards the end of the album (alongside its first two singles, ‘ME!’ and ‘You Need To Calm Down’) speaks volumes about the quality of material on offer here.
Effortless genre-straddling
Joining Dixie Chicks on delicate country ballad ‘Soon You’ll Get Better’ demonstrates just how far Taylor has come from her musical roots; the genre-straddling formula she has perfected seems effortless now. At the other end of the spectrum, the jittery electro-pop classic-in-the-making ‘The Man’ somehow seems to be Taylor’s more natural zone today. Sure, the likes of Robyn and Carly Rae Jepsen might have mastered that style too, but it’s Taylor that’s talking to the masses.
So, does Lover tell us anything new about Taylor Swift in 2019? It’s obvious she’s lost none of her independent spirit. On ‘You Need To Calm Down’ she captures the frustration we all feel about the tone of debate on a celebrated radio smash, while ‘ME!’ (featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco) plays to the campy caricature that Taylor cleverly channels to build the immense video projects that are now so central to her repertoire. But can we really read anything directly into lyric like ‘ME!’? Well, we’re certain there’s a knowing nod to everything Taylor puts out. Her charismatic authenticity would suggest there are kernels of fact in the fiction for fans to pick over.
So far ahead of the pack
Drenched in velvet-rich production, the steering hand of producer Jack Antonoff, with input from Frank Dukes and the genius that is Joel Little, means that Lover’s generous running time never drags. The opening salvo of the punchy pop pushback ‘I Forgot That You Existed’ and the dreamy stutterer ‘Cruel Summer’ (not a cover of the Bananarama classic – though that would have been interesting) means the bar is set super-high from the start. The album’s title track channels the looping groove you might find on a Lana Del Ray record; ‘Paper Rings’ sounds like a lost Blondie gem revived by a magic dusting of accessible country-pop.
There aren’t going to be any bigger pop albums this year than Lover. Taylor is so far ahead of the pack right now; there is an abundant confidence in her songwriting and a certainty about where her sensibilities are best served. Slap on the factor 50 – this is a dazzling success.

I know pride month is literally almost over but I was inspired by this post to compile a list of songs that Hit Differently when covered by a queer artist/interpreted as explicitly queer:
“Accidentally in Love” by The Counting Crows (yes, the one from Shrek)
“So she said, ‘What’s the problem, baby?’ What's the problem? I don't know, well maybe I'm in love... How much longer will it take to cure this? Just to cure it cause I can't ignore it if it's love”
Cover by Mia Wray
“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
“Heart beats fast, colors and promises, how to be brave, how can I love when I'm afraid to fall? ... time stands still, beauty in all she is”
“A Whole New World” from Aladdin
“When did you last let your heart decide? ...  A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view; no one to tell us no or where to go or say we're only dreaming”

“Dirty Little Secret” by The All-American Rejects

“For Good” by Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel - From Wicked

The Best of 2019 and Beyond | Staff Picks
Tumblr media
It’s the end of 2019. The world is on fire. You inhale your mango-flavored juul pod. The most pivotal figure in the world is a 16-year-old Swedish girl. Your Amazon Alexa listens intently in the corner of your bedroom. What I’m trying to say is that it has been an absolutely crazy year and an equally mind-blowing year for music. And what better way to cap the end of a year, an end of a decade than to perform a mandated survey on the entire Ones To Watch staff in the hopes of gathering their thoughts on the music that shaped their 2019, their 2010s, and their predictions for this brave new decade.

Tumblr media
011. Destroyer – “Tinseltown Swimming in Blood”
Tumblr media
010. Miley Cyrus – “Malibu”
Tumblr media
Miley Cyrus was one of the big pop stars of late to go back-to-basics (think: Lady Gaga's "Joanne," Kesha's "Rainbow"). After capturing the zeitgeist in 2013 with provocative singles like "Wrecking Ball" and "We Can't Stop," Miley stripped things down with her new unplugged country album "Younger Now." That LP's first single "Malbiu" showcases the adult side of Miley, whose voice has never sounded better. A breezy and delightfully sweet ballad - one that never steps into the realm of preciousness - "Malibu" celebrates rekindling a love with effortless but poignant songwriting (she wrote the song in an Uber on the way to a taping of "The Voice," where she serves as a judge) that is also an ode to sunny Southern California.
009. Rita Ora – “Anywhere”
Tumblr media
It's been a long, tough road for Rita Ora. She's never released an album in the U.S. (though she has great success in her native U.K.), nor has she had much traction with her previous excellent singles in the States. Unfortunately, that's not going to change with "Anywhere," arguably her best song ever, which has yet to chart in the U.S. Nevertheless, it's a high-quality dance-pop banger and it's the perfect antidote to the vile year that was 2017: A euphoric 3-minute and 35-second form of escapism that comes with one of the best pre-choruses in recent memory.
008. Terror Jr – “Caramel”
Tumblr media
Just like the candy, "Caramel," the single from the mysterious pop group Terror Jr, is gooey and sticky. It's a hazy balled that references depression, drug use, gay rights and other hot button issues. Speaking with Thump, singer Lisa Terror said the song is "a reaction to the surreal world in 2017." With a minimal production, "Caramel" lures you in with finger snaps and slinky synths and Lisa's manipulated vocals, resulting in a captivating and hypotonic track.
007. Taylor Swift – “Delicate”
Tumblr media
Taylor Swift's latest album "reputation" may be her weakest effort since her 2006 debut, but it still comes with some stellar gems. Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, "Delicate" is one of Swift's sexiest songs to date and her most mature. Here, Swift actually swears and sings about drinking as she cautiously pursues a new love interest - she's simultaneously confident and vulnerable. But what propels "Delicate" into one of Swift's best works is its simple sonic construction; a sensual wall of synths and powerful drums that enter halfway through the song, kicking it into a high-gear emotional drive.
006. Phoenix – “Fior Di Latte”
Tumblr media
French band Phoenix's new album "Ti Amo" is an ode to summers in Italy and Italian disco. Its highlight "Fior Di Latte" is a glistening groovy jam. Like the Italian cheese itself, the track is a smooth and airy delight that's straightforwardness about making love under the Italian sun complements the track's song construction. The track builds with vibrant bass and singer Thomas Mars's silky vocals, which eventually gives way to a cataclysmic explosion. From one of indie music's most reliable bands, Phoenix's "Fior Di Latte" is a sensual stunner that bursts with light.
005. Selena Gomez – “Bad Liar”
Tumblr media
Selena Gomez has low-key been one of the most reliable pop stars of the 21st century. With huge bangers like "Hands to Myself," "Good For You," "Same Old Love," "Come & Get It" and more, Gomez has slayed the charts with undeniable pop gems. For "Bad Liar," Gomez continues her brand of sultry pop, this time unexpectedly sampling the Talking Heads' 1977 single "Psycho Killer." With a funky bass and Gomez's cooing vocals, "Bad Liar" is cool and clever song; the most daring effort from the star yet, giving hope Gomez has further tricks up her sleeve.
004. Lorde – “Homemade Dynamite”
Tumblr media
"Homemade Dynamite" wasn't an immediate favorite from Lorde's sophomore album "Melodrama." Unlike the instant hits "Supercut" and "The Louvre," both brilliant euphoric bops, "Homemade Dynamite" is weird. But over time, the track slowly revealed itself, exploring complex emotions with interesting production and slinky synth-work, courtesy of Jack Antonff. With Lorde's signature whispering, "Homemade Dynamite" is the perfect concoction of all of her best traits: A radio pop song that's bent just a little too much, making it fascinating and innovative while still completely accessible. Awesome, right?
003. SOPHIE – “It’s Okay to Cry”
Tumblr media
SOHPIE's "It's Okay Cry" was a coming-out of sorts for the otherwise enigmatic British musician/producer. The song's accompanying music video was the first time SOPHIE made her official appearance, with the camera up close and centered on her. (At the same time, SOPHIE released a press release stating she prefers she/her pronouns.) The song is a queer anthem - a stirring ballad that's restrained for SOPHIE, who's known for her spastic and glitch-y synths. With honest lyrics ("The pain inside increases / It takes more strength to hold it in then to give in and surrender") and a massive buildup that erupts with a thunderous clap, "It's Okay to Cry" hits the reset button, making SOPHIE truly one of the most interesting artists to watch.
002. Kesha – “Praying”
Tumblr media
There's no better song than Kesha's "Praying" to be the anthem for the abysmal year that was 2017. Her comeback single took aim at disgraced producer Dr. Lukas, who she accused of sexual assault (he has denied all claims). Kesha has been in court battles with the producer and her record label, forced into a music limbo. But when "Praying" unexpectedly dropped in July, it not only an excellent song that showed off Kesha's vocals, but it was also a battle cry, with Kesha throwing down the gauntlet. It established her as a new musician - the "TiK ToK" party days are behind her (remember, she's dropped the "$" in her name)- and posited her as a pop singer-songwriter. "Praying" isn't scornful or angry. Instead, it's full of hope and forgiveness with Kesha taking the high road: "I hope you're somewhere prayin', prayin' / I hope your soul is changin', changin' / I hope you find your peace," she screams during the song's breathtaking chorus.
001. Lana Del Rey - “Love”
Tumblr media
No current pop artist has struggled with today's political climate more than Lana Del Rey. With songs like "National Anthem," lyrics like "Be young, be dope be proud / Like an American," and music videos showing her waving the U.S. flag, the elusive singer built her career from American pastiche. But that changed this year after Donald Trump entered the White House. Not only did she cast a witchy spell on him, but she also banned the American flag from her shows, and penned a track about the threats of North Korea. To say that Del Rey become more aware of her surroundings this year would be an understatement. With "Love," the first single off her excellent album "Lust for Life," the chanteuse gets nostalgic, looking back at the music that propelled her into stardom, and turns the track into an ode to her fans: "Look at you kids with your vintage music/You're part of the past, but now you're the future," she sings over a string arrangement echoing the music from her debut "Born to Die." It's a powerful and earnest song (something rare these days in pop music) where Del Rey winks at the Beach Boys and, most importantly, give hope to her millions of fans: "It doesn't matter if I'm not enough / For the future or the things to come / 'Cause I'm young and in love / Don't worry, baby."

王杰希生贺·《Call Me Daddy》
Parody of “Call Me Maybe” in celebration of Wang Jiexi’s B-day. Posted with permission - translation + credits under the cut.
Lyrics:
I threw a star in the crowd Don’t ask me I’ll never tell I killed you as it fell Cause you’re in my way
I put a spell on the world Almost ruined the earth I wasn’t looking for this But it was still OK
Swordman was talking Beside him, wizard was smiling Behind them, boss was running Where do you think you’re going baby?
Hey I just hit you And this is crazy But here’s my domain So call me daddy It’s hard to look right at my eyes But here’s my battle So call me daddy
Hey I just killed you And this is happy Do not say anything Just call me daddy And all the other guys Try to chase me They never made it So call me daddy
Rough translation of the Chinese lyrics:
I threw a star ray into the crowd Stop blaming it all on this king You all are dead once the ray is shot Who let you all block my way
I cast my spells to the world Almost destroyed the earth This wasn’t the original intention But the result for now is ok
The swordsman next door keeps *bleep bleep* [TLN: censored, probably] (Wang Jiexi come out and fight me pkpkpkpk How can a great Magician be affiliated with Herb Garden You have the ability to scatter that powder everywhere You have the ability to come out and pk) The warlock [TLN: Swoksaar] beside him smiled maliciously (Shaotian, very good) The boss behind them clack-clack running Dear, you’re still running, you think you can fly? (Boss is about to hit Red Blood!)
Hey, I just hit you This may be strange But this is the king’s territory Obediently call daddy already
It’s very hard to look at the Magician’s eyes o_O But this is my battlefield You should just call daddy
Hey I just killed you My heart feels a trace of joy Don’t say any more Call daddy
The scum from the other guilds Wishfully thinking they can catch up to this Magician They never succeeded Come, call daddy
Father’s name is Wang Jiexi You call him daddy Very cool very gorgeous Controlling my Vaccaria Throw a lava flask Capable of everything
Gao Yingjie: Papi? Wang Jiexi: Children, you must shoulder the burden of Tiny Herb’s future
