❤️ Keith Agere Headcanons! ❤️

Keith is an age regressor, but no one really knows what his specific age range is. The others just know that typically, he regresses to be really little, often times 2- unless it's a rare occasion that he can tell them otherwise

Shiro is his main caregiver! Keith usually calls him either Dada or Daddy

Also Keith is aroace

Keith is really shy and embarrassed about his regression, and fears what the others will think of him for it, but they're all so patient, kind and understanding. It really doesn't take too long for them to love the fear right out of him

Shiro is very protective of Keith, even when he isn't regressed, so it takes him a while to let the others watch him on their own. It isn't that he doesn't trust them, he does, he just harbors a lot of guilt about the times he wasn't able to be there for Keith. Now he can't stand the thought of anything else happening to his little one and him not being there for him the second he needs him

Eventually Shiro gets to the point where he can let the others watch him, though. It takes a while, sure, but they get there. The team is really happy about it, wanting to spend some time with Keith when he's regressed, too, which Shiro thinks is very sweet and Keith thinks is very embarrassing

Everyone has A Thing that they usually do with Keith if they're watching him:

Hunk has the best baking helper ever, letting Keith pour pre-messured ingredients and stir whatever it is that they set out to make (usually cookies--Keith loves cookies). The little one doesn't even complain about the clean up, just happy to spend some time with Hunk making yummy treats to share

Lance is amazing at playing simple but fun baby games with Keith, keeping him happy and giggling for hours. Peek-a-boo is a favorite of Keith's, especially when Lance does silly faces and voices! Lance cuddles are also top tire

Pidge builds the best pillow forts for Keith and herself to burrow into, complete with tons of blankies, stuffies, fairy lights, snacks, story books, Keith's favorite pacifier, and Pidge's laptop open and ready for a movie or two after story time. 9 times out of 10, they end up found hours later, both sound asleep and curled up together

Allura was very new to the concept of age regression but quickly learned all about it. She sort of became a second caregiver for Keith, doing pretty much everything that Shiro does with him, from cuddling to feeding to bathing. It isn't unusual to find her working with a dozing Keith safe and sound in her arms while Shiro is off doing more hands on work or leading the others in training that Keith was simply too small to participate in

Coran is very much the storyteller that Keith had only dreamed of having before. He delights the baby with fascinating tales about his time in the Altean military, but making age appropriate for Keith, of course. He also happily fills Keith in on a lot of fun alien animal facts

Everyone keeps track of his binder time, making sure that he doesn't go over 8 hours a day--less after particularly difficult battles--and that he gets breaks from binding when he needs them

Somehow, someway, Keith has yet to slip during battle. But almost as soon as a battle is over, his headspace tends to come crashing in all at once, rather than being a gradual feeling that he sinks into like when it isn't brought on from fighting. It's in cases like this where he’s the most upset in his headspace and is in need of lot of love and support from the others

Keith is a very well behaved baby, which is kind of a surprise to, well, everyone. He's happy to fallow the rules that Shiro makes for him, and tries his very best to remember to use his manners. He even tries to use his words to tell the others how he's feeling, even if it's just basic words like sad, mad, icky, sleepy, etc

When he does manage to get into trouble, usually all it takes is a lecture from Shiro to set him straight, but on harder days, a time out is needed. Sometimes Keith feels really guilty after, but Shiro is always quick to reassure Keith that he's still a very good, very sweet little boy and that making a bad decision doesn't make him a bad person

Usually Keith is mostly non-verbal when he's feeling small. He tends to communicate using sounds and gestures and basic ASL. He and Shiro are learning it together to try to make communicating a bit easier

Shiro was able to find a purple stuffed animal at the space mall that looks almost like a hippopotamus--the only difference is that this creature has six legs instead of four. Keith falls in love with the gift immediately, carrying it with him every single place that he goes. It doesn't matter if he's playing, napping, eating, being changed, or having a bath: Hippo is right there by his side

God help them when Kosmo comes into the picture. It's pure chaos masked by delighted squeals and giggles, and the excited howls of a teleporting cosmic space wolf

You did your best to be strong, you're a paladin! Convincing yourself that there was no time for yourself, bottling all those negative feelings. 

Today was hard. It was terrible. You wanted nothing more to just fall apart, slowly making your way to your room. Your shared room with Shiro. That thought made you feel better. You never indulged him with the information of how bad you felt currently, or what you do when you're like this. 

"Baby.." His voice is heaven to your ears. Immediately your shoulders dropped the tension- Tears dance along your waterline. "Oh, baby.." your lips begin to wobble, your facade slowly cracking. 

"H..Hi Shiro.." Biting your bottom lip, trying to wipe the tears building up. "Missed you today.." murmuring through the tears. Everything felt so… big. As if you had shrunk several sizes, the clothes clinging to your body felt tight at the same time. 

“Missed you too.” He meets you halfway, arms wrapping around you. Safety. He didn’t need to ask how you were feeling. It was evident on your face as soon as you walked in. Leading you to the bed, he sits on the edge- pulling you on his lap.. 

“Breathe,” He whispers against your hair, positioning you in such a way that he almost held you like a baby if it weren’t your grown-size. His hand rubbing your biceps. The tears came rolling, paired with quiet hiccups.. 

“Hate today..” You cry, gripping Shiro’s shirt. “Hate!” 

“I know, I know.” Shiro shushes you softly. He had seen you crumble enough times to know what to do, how to hold you, how to speak. He enjoyed it. He liked holding you as you cried, comforting you, tucking you into bed after it all.

Shura/Mephisto Ship.

The Shura/Mephisto ship..

It's a weird thing. Not quite a ship, not quite a demon contract.

But Mephisto is working on it desperately.

It's complicated...because this ain't romance, it's about ownership.

We just don't know the terms of the agreement.

But we can assume that the leverage was the lives of Rin and Yukio Okumura. In exchange, Mephisto wants Shura to be his next human body.

We never see Mephisto and Shura make a demon contract. That conversation has been denied to us.

All we know is that after chapter 94, Shura changes from hating Mephisto with every ounce of her being to collaborating with him (albeit without major disinterest and misgivings).

We know Mephisto is growing weaker and weaker as he tries to hold the world together. His body is barely hanging on.

He will need a new vessel to keep him alive, and Shura, being a powerful exorcist is a good match for him.

First of all, she comes from a long line of ninjas. These ninjas are cursed with a demonic temptaint from the Hydra, Hachitaro Okami. The temptaint seems to have made her body super-powered and resilient. Like the most powerful exorcists in the order, she is almost a demon herself. But unlike Lightning, she isn't devoid of empathy. She feels love and devotion, especially towards Shiro's kids.

Shura's familial power has only gotten stronger with each new generation. As part of Hachiro's curse, each female descendent born from Tatsuko Kirigakure is a carbon copy of the child before it. (Basically demon created clones)

Tatsuko's cloning has repeated for at least, 500 years or more, with each new "Tatsuko" becoming more and more imbued with Hachiro's DNA. Even though Hachiro tries to groom them into the original Tatsuko, they all have different souls.

Our version, Shura Kirigakure, the last descendent of Tatsuko Kirigakure is crazy strong. But doesn't share the ambitious, power-hungry nature of the original.

Why Does Mephisto Want Shura?

Demon kings have been experimenting with cloning to try and get strong vessels that can withstand their energies. Vessels they can possess to live on in Assiah. Shura meanwhile, has developed without section 13 and asylum. Her body became strong over years and years of demonic heritage.

Mephisto has had her in mind for quite some time.

Mephisto made sure that Shura was kept outside of section 13.

Mephisto had Shiro rescue Shura as a child from Hachiro and had Shiro train her as his apprentice before she was placed in orphanage. Mephisto kept Shura well away from Asylum. The last thing he needed was his demon brother Lucifer and the section 13 scientists getting wind of a new potential vessel. Mephisto keeps the best options hidden for himself. Also, having Shiro, Mephisto's personal assassin/loaded gun as Shura's caregiver was added protection. Nobody dare mess with Shiro.

But..Mephisto has one big problem with Shura. She hates his guts.

Shura doesn't trust him and threatens to kill him all the time. Mephisto could easily kill Shura with little more than a snap of his finger. But Mephisto holds back. He cannot kill her, he needs her to survive.

Mephisto fully decides Shura's the one, after Lucifer declares war on True Cross.

Shura has regenerative abilities. Her body is so resilient, she withstood a direct hit from Lucifer's seraphim. If she can withstand Lucifer, the strongest demon king, she can surely take on Mephisto's powers.

When Mephisto is rebuilding the the fallen barriers after Lucifer's attack, an injured Shura confronts him. Mephisto admits that he knows everything about Shura's injury, despite the chaos swirling around him. He affirms it's in her abdomen and the left side. He's researched the situation because he's invested in her. He's super impressed that she survived Lucifer.

Mephisto at this point stops threatening Shura and becomes overly concerned with her health and well-being. He has her admitted to a hospital, and also orchestrates her release from Hachiro's curse with the aid of Rin and Yukio. He wants Shura's body is in good health and free from other demonic contracts.

Mephisto wants Shura to agree to be his body.

Mephisto, unlike the other demon kings seems to have more success living and collaborating with humans. Yet, like the other demon kings he believes that he is more powerful, and much more cunning. He gets off outsmarting humans and setting them up to fail.

Mephisto offers to grant them wishes, and in return they must give him something he desires. This game in which he balances the scales of morality, are rarely won (if ever) by the humans. Mephisto makes up all the rules, and stacks the deck against them.

But what does Shura wish for? What are her greatest desires?

What could Mephisto possibly offer to ensnare his prey?

Shura wants four things:

-She wants to fall in love.

-She wants a family

-She wants Rin and Yukio to be safe.

-Originally she wanted Shiro to love her, but he's dead, so that wish is out of play.

These are not simple wishes for a demon to grant. Easier things are money, sex and power.

Shura, meanwhile, wants love, attachment and family.

Mephisto according to Shura is incapable of providing or understanding love, as are all demons. Yet, he has to honour her wishes, or he won't get what he desperately needs.

But, here's the thing. Mephisto wants Shura to win and lose at the same time.

That way he can take her body as his own without guilt. He doesn't want her to fight the possession but give in to him willingly.

Demonic possession is a difficult process that, if done improperly, can kill both the demon and the host.

Mephisto has convinced himself that humans are silly little pawns that he gets to play with. Shura is no different.

He promises to fulfill the desires of humans, but somehow he makes those desires come true in a bittersweet way. A way which he outsmarts the humans regardless of how cruel that outcome turns out to be.

Look at what happened to poor Shiro. He wanted sex, money and to be the Paladin. Mephisto makes it all possible, but in the end he loses the one thing he really wanted, but just didn't know it. The love of Yuri Egin and his future family. He got Shiro to agree to his deal when he was only a child, knowing that he'd grow up to feel very differently about the world.

It wasn't fair.

Mephisto hoped that Shura would take after Tatsuko, her ancestor and want something easy to grant like power. He was also hoping that Shura would become more like the Shiro, hence why he left her in his care. Luckily Shiro abandoned her at the orphanage before more emotional damage could be done. Even though Shura avoided all attachment, deep down she had a big loving heart.

And Shiro knew it, and affirmed it later on, when he asked her to watch out for his young son, Yukio.

Shiro also knew Shura's loving heart was the thing that could defeat Mephisto, because the demon sucks in the love and empathy department. Love is a big curiosity to demons, and it also befuddles them.

Because of Shura's big heart, Mephisto has a major challenge.

He has to make this woman...what? Love him? Want him? Does he try to fulfill this love through someone else? Did he promise her a child? How can he provide something he doesn't personally feel, or feel at a much lesser extent? Does he lie?

Her requests are such a tall order.....especially for a heartless demon. If he could make Shura fall in love with him, that would be a major victory. But so far it hasn't worked.

He sent her flowers at the hospital, sent her to a bathhouse. He said rude sexual things to her, to try and show his interest. The innuendo would have worked for Shiro...but Mephisto comes across as a total skeeze. Plus, he's her boss. She should march him right down to HR.

(Well...she guilty too, she started the entire fake flirting thing back in Kyoto.)

Despite all of Mephisto's scheming, Shura hasn't bonded with him.

Even after he was shot, and she was his security detail. All Shura cared about was poor Yukio. She left Mephisto laying on the ground covered in blood.

Pretty fucking funny....

The only thing that troubles me, is the fact that we have this unknown kid, Nemu Takara. He looks so much like Shura, it's uncanny.

Somehow I think Mephisto grants her wish, and along with it, cripples her child with a terrible, sleeping curse.

I'm hoping that part of the theory is wrong.

Hello! I was just wondering what you thought of these cause I feel like I’m losing my mind ? You’re more the expert on shiro and Keith’s relationship so I’d like to see your thoughts!

Oh, God. Sweet Jesus, Lord, give me strength.

I'm going to start using people's understanding of and empathy for Shiro (or obvious lack thereof) as a litmus test for gauging their basic media comprehension. Because it consistently seems that the people with the worst takes on him have outstandingly poor media literacy, and a spectacular unwillingness and inability to so much as attempt to emotionally connect with a character that doesn't reflect them, personally.

Shiro is older, emotionally reserved, and repeatedly finds himself in positions of leadership over people much younger than him, forcing him to be both commanding officer and caregiver/mentor to the best of his ability while privately grappling with his own extreme personal demons. That, somehow, equates to him being a manipulative, "emotionally blackmailing piece of shit".

I'd like someone to explain to me how the man who bailed the kid who stole his car out of juvie because he recognized that kid's potential for greatness, was committing an act of "emotional blackmail". How Shiro advocating for Keith over and over and over again is "emotional blackmail". How Shiro being resigned to dying in his twenties and trusting his closest friend, who he has always believed in, to carry on as leader in his stead, is "emotional blackmail".

I love Leonardo from the 2003 iteration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I've expressed that love several times on this blog. He's easily one of my favorite characters of all time, and so much of the foundation of my personality and sense of morality was shaped by him. But, when Leonardo is grappling with PTSD, in Season Four, there is very much a strong anger attached to his hurt. Anger at his brothers, for seeming to not take things seriously enough or recognize how close they come to death when they aren't giving one-hundred percent of themselves to every single battle. Anger at Splinter, the sensei and father he loves beyond measure, for not being the unforgiving teacher Leo felt he needed in order to improve. And, anger at himself for not being strong enough to keep his family from believing that they had no other choice but to sacrifice themselves to rid the universe of evil.

Leonardo does yell. He yells at his brothers and his father. He lashes out in a furious rage, and pushes and pushes and pushes himself, desperate to reach a higher tier of ninja, in order to atone for his perceived failure to protect the people he loves.

Shiro, by contrast, almost never yells. He shouts out orders on the battlefield, yes, as soldiers and commanding officers do, but yelling at his teammates, and, specifically, at Keith?

Does this person just interpret any man speaking slightly louder than a whisper as him "yelling"?

Shiro is almost absurdly gentle for someone who has endured the Hell he has. When Lance gets in his face, loudly questioning one of Shiro's calls- a call that is in support of Keith- Shiro doesn't respond with anger, snapping at Lance to shut his mouth or back off. He, instead, calmly moves Lance away from him, explaining in the same calm but firm manner why he's standing by his decision that Keith is the perfect choice to accompany him on that particular mission.

When Shiro had Keith seek out the Red Lion on his own, it's because he knew that Keith was more than capable of handling himself and the Lion would reach out to their Paladin, and because Pidge had just revealed herself to be family of the crew Shiro felt responsible for losing. Meaning that Shiro accompanying her to the holding cells to see if Sam and Matt were among the prisoners onboard was a given.

And, the only person who raises their voice in anger in that entire scene is Pidge.

Teaching Keith "one suicidal trick"... In an effort to connect with him. To show Keith that Shiro, himself, the straitlaced, rule-abiding Garrison Golden Boy, is a bit of a thrill-seeker, too, but you have to learn to temper your impulse with patience for your own good.

It's really, really easy to assign malicious intent to a person's every action when you've already decided to hate them.

"Become the leader, be the first to die".

Oh, like Shiro was?

"He never tells Keith he's a cool kid".

"So, you grew up out here?"

"Yep. Just me and my pop."

(Looks to Keith to gauge where he's at emotionally, and whether it's okay to ask his next question.)

"He was...

He was a fireman, right?"

"Yeah. He was a real hero.

Everyone told him not to run back into that building, but... you couldn't tell him anything."

"Sounds like someone I know."

Directly drawing a positive comparison between Keith and his hero father based on their mutual obstinance, a personality trait that Keith has likely been reprimanded for, in the past? A comparison that makes Keith, himself, smile? Nah, that's nothing like telling Keith that he's "cool".

"Never makes Keith feel welcome".

Calling Shiro "Dumbledore"...

OP, whoever you are, I don't mean to be rude, but, sincerely:

It's interesting that you rarely find a Shiro fan who thinks poorly of Keith, but there's certainly an abundance of Keith fans who seem to believe that Shiro treats Keith poorly, or Shiro should have died and permanently stayed dead to benefit Keith. And, this person repeatedly bringing up Shiro's illness as a "justification" for scapegoating him positively reeks of the ableism every other "critic" of Shiro proudly flaunts like some kind of twisted banner.

But, at least they didn't tack on some homophobia just for the hell of it. Unless that's what referring to Shiro as the "Dumbledore of the franchise" was intended to be.

And, to cap it off and really, really drive home just how poor this person's media literacy is, they're utterly baffled by the inclusion of Adam in Shiro's backstory. As it seems to have entirely escaped them that Adam and his less than supportive attitude were there to illustrate that even Shiro's long-term boyfriend was ready to give up on him, but Keith never did.

Which Shiro knows, and verbally acknowledges.

"Keith, I was dreaming. Keith... You saved me."

I definitely lost braincells reading that screed of hostile idiocy. But, at the very least we can say we suffered through it together?

Treat yourself to your favorite beverage as a palette cleanser after enduring that cavalcade of stupidity. I know I'm going to.

Caregiver Shiro Headcanons 🤍

& The Voltron team

(This is based on season 1 because I'm only on season 1...)

•He's a very gentle and kind caregiver, but he can be a bit stern at times.

•He was probably the first to know about your regression, whether you came to him and told him about, or he found out for himself. Either way, he'd talk to you about it in a very calm and soft spoken voice, knowing how vulnerable and scary it can be to talk about.

•The first time you allow yourself to regress around him, he felt bad that you didn't have any comfort items. Being up in space, there isn't anything there for you. No stuffed animals, no pacifier, bottles, nothing. He wishes he could provide those things for you (if you wanted), and felt horrible that he couldn't.

•He carries you around everywhere. (If you're okay with it, of course) If the others don't know about your regression, he'll be sure to not tell anyone unless you're comfortable. He won't talk about it out loud, or treat you that way around them, unless you're fully okay with it.

•If the others do learn that you're an age regressor, they will all try their best to help out. Hunk will make you special meals and snacks with whatever ingredients he does have, Pidge will tell you stories and help you go to sleep at night. Keith is more neutral about it, and doesn't really know how to help you. He definitely is more protective of you, now that he knows. Lance is... Well, Lance. He doesn't fully understand age regression, despite Shiro explaining it to him. He may tease you a bit, but the others definitely won't let that happen for long.

•Shiro always praises you and gives you lots of reassurance. He always lets you know how much he cares about you, how amazing and adorable you are, and that everything will be okay as long as he's there.

•Despite not enjoying when the others slack off on training, if you ever regress during or before training, he will try his best to convince Allura that you shouldn't train today. He wants your safe place to stay a safe place, and he will do everything he can to protect it.

•He tries his best to keep you regressed without any TV, games, toys, ect. He really wants you to be able to feel small and happy, especially with the stress of fighting and training all the time.

•He doesn't usually call you by nicknames, but sometimes he'd call you "sweetheart/sweetie" or "little one".

•The others all try to help out and take care of you throughout the day. Shiro doesn't always trust them, so he normally watches them and makes sure they're taking care of you properly, and that nothing happens. He's very overprotective, but doesn't necessarily show it.

" Shiro I don't know what you're on about today with bringing this up suddenly, " Keith huffed as he shut down the training bot. His sword remained tight in his hand, breaths uneven from the exercise.

Just behind him, Shiro was leaned against the wall by the doors. His arms were crossed calmly over his chest. A long sigh left him.

" I guess, I just... have been thinking about it a lot recently, " Shiro told him truthfully. " I mean, I know you have always wanted to be a caregiver.. " he trailed off.

Keith gave a short nod. The day that both of them found out they were caregivers was awkward as hell in Itself, but it also gave them something to bond over. The sword in his hand retracted as he turned on his heels and walked toward his oldest friend.

" Just spit it out. What are you thinking? " he spoke harshly, visibly disliking the drag on the conversation.

" What if a little is on our team? Or several? What if we find one out there-"

" Shiro that's really unlikely, " Keith cut Shiro off without hesitation. He ran his fingers through his hair, more intending to get the sweat from his face than anything. " Besides what would you do if you found one out there, " he huffed.

" It's not like the team would suddenly agree to bring a random alien on ship just because you pleaded with them, " he rolled his eyes. However, he paused after. His expression turned into a saddened one, rather than annoyed. " Not after everything we've been through. "

" I know, you're right, " Shiro sighed and pushed himself off the wall. " I'm done now, I guess that just scratched my itch to talk about it, " the older shrugged off before tossing an arm across the youngers shoulders.

" I'm starving and you smell, so let's go, " he smiled down at him.

" Whatever, " Keith grumbled.

Keith couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't believe what was right in front of him. This had to be a joke. He knew the fight they had just barely survived was a lot, but really?

How did Shiro know?

God he is NEVER telling him he was right. He'd never live that down. Just after an attack from the Galra occured, everyone had thought they made it out okay. Besides soreness and bruises from being tossed around. Getting back and removing their gear, Lance seemed to hang by. He seemed off, from dropping things to generally seeming to lack in motor skills. This set off Keith's caregivering instinct, but he decided to ignore it.

As usual, Keith waited until the room was empty before removing his gear. He hadn't realized Lance decided to do the same this time. Which was strange. Usually, he was messy scrambling out of it and one of the first people to leave. When he had finished and turned around, he found Lance in tears. Lance. Crying.

It made his heart sink. Sure they fought constantly and he always was getting on his nerves, but something about their most optimistic team member crying genuinely scared him. He watched for a moment, hot tears falling from Lance's eyes while his gloved hands failed to get a grip on the armor enough to remove it. Carefully, as if approaching a scared animal, Keith inched towards Lance.

" Do you want some help? " he asked, quietly and gently.

Despite his efforts, he still startled him. Lance jumped, head shooting up to stare at him. His eyes were wide, like a deer caught in headlights. His lip trembled, absolutely breaking his heart.

" I just want to help, not to fight if anything, " he reassured.

" Please, " the word, slightly slurred, stumbled out of Lance.

With a short nod, Keith carefully helped Lance out of the armor. Once it was removed, damage under it could be seen. Sometimes, it dug into the wrong places despite fitting to their body types. Taking the wrong blow could cause it to cut in or heavily bruise spots. Lance seemed to have taken too many of these wrong blows.

Keith helped all the way until he was dressed. Then he stepped back. He didn't know what to do, it was making him nervous. Of course he didn't want to assume Lance was regressing or anything, nor force the very idea onto him. He swallowed thickly. Before he got the courage to speak, Lance got it first.

" Can I hug you? " he'd whisper.

The request surprised him. Lance didn't even look at him, rather, the floor looked much more interesting to the younger paladin. Taking a deep breath, Keith loosely wrapped his arms around the taller. He pulled his head against him, where it landed just under his chest since he was sitting on the bench still.

" I know I'm not the best at comfort and all that, but are you okay? " Keith mustered up the courage to ask.

Arms slowly wrapped around him. Soon, hands gripped his jacket while a short sobbed escaped Lance. Keith held him a bit tighter. His chest ached, but he knew this was all he could do for now. He gently ran his fingers through his hair, adjusting a bit to be craddling his head better. It seemed to help, since after ten minutes of straight messy crying Lance had calmed.

" Sorry, " Lance tried to pull away.

Keith only pulled him back, not letting him go just yet. He didn't fight back either just accepted it and buried his face back into his stomach.

" Don't be, " Keith huffed, " I get it. "

" It hurts, " he whined quietly, accidentally cutting off his neee somewhat friend.

" I know, " he sighed sadly, running his fingers back through his hair. " We should get you to bed little fawn. "

This visibly startled Lance. He pushed back from Keith, gently pressing his forearms against his stomach to do so. He got free easily, as a result. His eyes wide as he stared up to him. He looked scared, anxious, all of it really. There was too many negative emotions for Keith to entirely pick up.

" You-"

" Don't judge, " Keith cut him off swiftly. " And accept who you are. There's nothing wrong with you, your mind just doesn't know what to do, " he told him gently. He reached a hand out and ruffled his hair. Then be turned to grab Lance's shoes.

" You know what's happening to me? " Lance asked, stumbling over his words. " You know at all? " he hiccuped.

The sound made Keith worry. He grabbed the worn out tennis shoes then quickly returned. He kneeled down in front of him to help him put them on. Even tying them for him, knowing very well how little it'd make Lance feel.

" I do. It's called age regression, and it's just a coping mechanism. Loads of people do it for various reasons. Some have caregivers and some don't. Me and Shiro are caregivers, if that isn't obvious. "

" You? " Lance questioned with a small giggle, lifting an arm up to wipe his face with his sleeve.

" Come on, don't give me that " Keith rolled his eyes with a huff. Using the bench, he helped himself up. The soreness was definitely getting to him too. " There's loads of things you don't know about me, " he teased with a playful smile.

" Now come on, let's get you laying down at least. "

Lance nodded, offering a hand to Keith who quickly took it. The tired and bruised little pulled himself up with a wince. They walked out of the, sort of, locker room then headed towards where the bedrooms were at. They walked very slow, more because any faster and Lance kept tripping. He held Keith's hand the entire time they walked to his bedroom. When they reached Lance's room, they quickly got him inside and straight to bed.

Keith removed his shoes, helping him get comfortable and even going as far as to tuck him into bed. He sat by him on the bed, just gently petting his hair.

" Why fawn? " Lance asked quietly, slightly fumbling the word.

" You look like a deer when you're surprised, " Keith chuckled with a rare smile. It made Lance smile at him.

" Okay, " he accepted the answer with a small nod.

Then he moved to lay on his side, well, the one that didn't hurt too bad anyways. Keith remained there, quietly humming while tracing circles on his back instead of playing with his hair. It reminded Lance of his mom, his family. As he began to doze off, getting the much needed sleep, he sucked on his thumb without even thinking about it. The exhaustion completely crashed into him now that he was laying down. He accepted it with ease, allowing Keith's humming to guide him through his dreams.

Welcome to my blog :) my name is Takashi, but I go by Shiro. I was born in Japan but my family immigrated to the United States when I was very young.

I’m 25 years old and a caregiver to a lovely little boy. I consider myself a forever carer as it aligns with my personality and nature.

I’m a gay man and I’m in a polyamorous relationship with two perfect boys. One of which is my co-carer, and the other is the regressor we take care of.

I have ptsd and ocd, and caregiving helps me cope with them.

My interests are photography, space, reading, and gardening. Some things I like are rain, sweaters, car rides, early mornings, and babies.

I often daydream about having children of my own someday, but that’s not something I see myself pursuing. I’m very much content with my life and relationships as they are, and neither of my partners want children which I’m okay with. Caregiving is a great outlet for me and I’m happy to continue with just dreaming of being a father.

Some of my triggers are loud sounds like fireworks, military content, holidays, or chat about it, hospitals and medical things, and being asked about my trauma. Please be mindful of this when interacting with me. Anyone who tries to use my triggers against me will simply be blocked. I don’t think it’s acceptable to trigger anyone on purpose.

Some positive triggers of mine are babies, book talk, Japanese culture, talking about my caregiver space, aesthetic organization, and shopping for my kiddo.

Our Dining Table Ep 1 Stray Thoughts

Very excited to have a show Gaga references What Did You Eat Yesterday? in the promotional materials as a new comfort show. With The Eighth Sense airing, I was hoping for something easy. Glad Inukai Atsuhiro continues to be here for the gays.

We just started and I'm already thinking about how there's a park near this guy's office, so even if he's feeling a bit dull he has a few trees to sit near during lunch. America's built environment is such an uncomfortable hellscape for most of us.

Children are really just unstoppable when they're being precocious and want something. If I was enjoying my lunch at a park, and a cute kid who appears to be cared for just sat next to me and asked for my sandwich I'd just have to give it up, too.

Is Hozumi's father the reason he doesn't want to bond with his colleagues?

I do like the sense of propriety that made them come back to the park to apologize.

Hozumi is so valid. It's difficult to say no to a reasonable request for the caregiver of a nice kid.

These gross questions are in line with things heard in one of my pre-k classes.

Caregiver shiro please ?

→ he manages to have mastered the perfect balance of soft enough to not be scary, and to be comforting instead, and firm enough that there isn’t any chance for any meltdowns or tantrums to even begin to form. he’s amazingly good at calming down conflicts and reaching compromises; whether it’s what toys to play with, or having to to things like clean said toys up.

→ a pro at deciphering mumbles and half-sentences. he somehow just knows how to best comfort his regressor. one of his favourite things is the texts he gets sent from his regressors, that are just half-strung together sentences and emojis; it was endlessly cute. Similarity, he’s so good at knowing exactly what the drawing that’s been handed to him is, even if it’s just a few circles and some stars.

→ he has the best reading voice, he does entire voices and actions and it just delights sleepy babies. he makes everything sound exciting. he can just tell stories he comes up with on the spot for hours, it comes in incredibly handy when handling things like bedtime refusal and nightmares.

→ it’s impossible to slip things past him. he always finds out about it at some point. whether it’s breaking rules, or avoiding water/eating/sleeping. he’s always so gentle about his reprimanding to, keeping an even tone throughout everything. it’s incredibly safe, even while being told off.

→ loves cooking for his regressor, he loves it in general so it is no surprise that the kids are being spoiled with pancakes and waffles and pasta dishes. it’s one of his favourite things and his food somehow always ends up sleepy afterwards; it’s some sort of talent. subsequently, baking is one of the activities together that happens the most; cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc. they make, and eat, it all.

→ he gives the most amazing hugs, the time in the gym and working really does pay off when the hugs are as tight and comforting as they were. it’s the perfect level of grounding needed during any anxious, or post-nightmare moments.

I hope I'm not troubling you by hopping onto this post and chiming in with my two cents. I have a lot of thoughts on Shiro and Adam and everything surrounding their relationship.

Something that really stands out to me is that in the first and only scene we get of the two of them together, their relationship is already in its end stages. They've clearly been, as insinuated by the dialogue, arguing over Shiro's condition for some time, now. Shiro is sick of being viewed as medically fragile and too "weak" to pursue a dream that means a great deal to him (piloting the mission to Kerberos, the farthest into deep space that humanity would have ever reached, at that point). And, Adam thinks Shiro is taking too many unnecessary risks and effectively gambling with his life.

Their body language and the way the scene is blocked is even more telling than the dialogue. There's still love there, Adam does turn to Shiro to ask him if he's okay when Shiro enters their apartment in a sullen state. But, the bulk of their conversation-turned-disagreement is had with Adam's back turned to Shiro.

In the only other glimpse we get of Adam preceding his death, he's a very straitlaced, no-nonsense combat pilot. He takes the orders he's given, no questions asked, like a good soldier, face steely with focus right up to the moment he watches one of his comrades be taken out right in front of him mere seconds before, he, too, is blown out of the sky.

The viewer has no frame of reference for what Adam was like when he was happy, relaxed, and not grappling with a high-stress situation, I.E., fighting for his life, or arguing with the man he loved when he believed the man he loved was taking unnecessary risks. We have no idea if he was an affectionate person and actually very tender and nurturing, as his seeming resolution to become full-time caregiver to his terminally ill life-partner would imply, or if he's always been relatively cold and Shiro's innate compassion and warmth were meant to counter Adam's frostiness and balance it out. We can only go off of what we're shown. And, in this tiny insight into a long-term relationship that was meant to be lifelong, as Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos confirmed that Shiro and Adam were headed toward marriage, Adam is very deliberately closed-off.

The only hint as to what his and Shiro's dynamic was prior to Shiro's illness and persistent desire to keep pushing himself in spite of it taking an emotional toll, is the picture of the two of them displayed with other mementos and memorabilia at the front of their apartment.

It's difficult to discern any exact details, due to the lack of focus and the image being so small, but Shiro's hands are by his sides, while Adam seems to be the one initiating physical contact.

This reading of their relationship, that Adam is/was the dominant partner, is affirmed for me by his behavior during his and Shiro's argument. Adam offers up the idea that Admiral Sanda and Commander Iverson were "right" about not wanting Shiro to pilot the Kerberos mission with his illness. That Shiro would "only be putting [him]self at risk". When Shiro stands his ground, asserting that the mission is important to him and "worth the risk", Adam slams the mug of presumably coffee that he had been holding down on its matching saucer.

Is this suggestive of a tendency toward physical shows of aggression on his part? Has Adam laid hands on Shiro, before? Threatened to? Or, is he simply someone who feels inclined to- childishly- take his anger out on inanimate objects? Either way, after shutting Shiro down, he attempts an emotional appeal ("Takashi, how important am I to you?").

With his back to Shiro the entire time.

Shiro seems to take a cue from Adam and likewise closes himself off, shutting his eyes and turning away as he says, "Don't start that, again, Adam."

Then, with a weariness audible in his voice and overwhelmingly evident in the way he slumps against the couch, he adds, "You don't need to protect me." (Emphasis mine.)

Shiro's "This is something I have to do for myself", inspires Adam to make another appeal, this time to rationality- "There's nothing left for you to prove. You've broken every record there is to break." And, then we get to the clincher, "I know I can't stop you, but I won't go through this, again."

This suggests that Shiro had a rather severe medical scare at some point prior to this argument, and perhaps even prior to his interest in the Kerberos mission. Now, considering that Adam has decided to commit himself to a long-term relationship with a man suffering from a degenerative disease, he has to be aware that medical scares are going to continue to be a thing as Shiro's condition worsens. They won't cease to exist simply because Shiro is no longer "putting [him]self at risk".

And, while one could argue that Shiro is being "selfish" and "irrational", here, much like Adam seems to believe, Shiro is dealing with the prospect of his body breaking down on him.

Many, many men, when faced with the various indignities of advanced sickness and old age, would prefer to go out in a blaze of glory on their own terms rather than agonizingly waste away before their loved ones' eyes. Going from completely independent and able-bodied to having to use a bed pan or even wear diapers because you can't get out of bed and make it to the bathroom unassisted, or at all, would be utterly humiliating for the vast majority of people. And, we're talking people in their late forties, fifties, sixties, and seventies.

Shiro has had to confront the reality that he'll be facing these indignities in his twenties. At absolute maximum, he's twenty-three, here, and he informs Keith that he'll only be able to maintain his "peak condition for a couple more years". Had he not gone on the mission, and stayed on Earth with Adam, he likely would have started to deteriorate before the age of twenty-seven. Who's to say, then, that there wouldn't be more scares as he lost the ability to walk, and even to stand? Falls, for one thing, would happen with increasing frequency until Shiro found himself confined to a wheelchair, and then, ultimately, his bed, and falls on hard floors can lead to all sorts of injury.

Cruel as it sounds, if Adam was emotionally incapable of handling his partner's condition taking a turn for the worst, he probably shouldn't have elected to stay in a relationship with a terminally ill man. And, perhaps, this infamous argument between him and Shiro was the first stage of him realizing that.

"If you do decide to go, don't expect me to be here when you get back."

After issuing out an ultimatum that the future of their relationship rests on, Adam, scowling, grabs his bag and exits the apartment, stating that he's "got a class to teach".

And, Shiro, left to ruminate on yet another argument, silently lets him go, allowing Adam to have the final word.

We know from Pidge's flashbacks in the Season Four episode, Reunion, that Keith was the only person who came to see Shiro off the day the Kerberos mission launched.

Meaning that Adam ended his and Shiro's relationship over Shiro's decision to defy Adam's wishes and pursue his dream to pilot what very well might have been his final mission into deep space before his body began to truly fail him.

I will extend Adam the grace that it's clear he did love Shiro (even though my inner weeaboo balks at him pronouncing Shiro's given name as the Americanized bastardization, "Takahshi", rather than the proper "Takashi"), and Shiro still very much held love for him.

"There isn't one of us here, today, who hasn't experienced the tragedy of losing someone close. It truly feels like a light has gone out, in our lives.

And, the sun, itself, couldn't reignite it."

Would that persisting love have been enough cause for reconciliation had Adam lived? Maybe, if Shiro and Adam attended Couples Counseling and were willing to cast aside a lot of anger, resentment, bitterness, guilt, and regret. Adam had four years to mourn both the end of his and Shiro's relationship, and Shiro, himself, when Shiro was believed to have perished after he, Matt, and Sam disappeared off of the Garrison's radar on Kerberos. For Shiro, that four year period was two years of almost nonstop Hell in the form of one trauma after another. As if the narrative, itself, was punishing him for choosing his dream over a comparatively safe, stable life on Earth.

All of this is to say, I have qualms with the way fanon tends to characterize Adam and his dynamic with Shiro (Adam and Shiro adopting/parenting/raising Keith, especially when Keith has more of a bond with Adam than Shiro, how I loathe thee), and how blame for the dissolution of their relationship is often, even jokingly, placed squarely on Shiro. Realistically, as nice as it would have been to see Shiro receive another hug after coming back from the dead, Heaven knows he deserves a surplus of them, I don't think there ever would have been a tearful reunion with Shiro and Adam practically diving into each other's arms and clinging to one another for dear life, pledging to get married the moment the war is over, if Adam survived the first wave of Sendak's invasion.

Shiro would need years of extensive therapy to help him work through everything he experienced out in space. And, Adam... Based solely off of what we're presented with in the show's canon, unless he's undergone some therapy of his own, is not up to the task of offering the comfort or support that Shiro requires to begin to heal. Whether he was always that way, or stress wore him down and made him into the person we see on our screens, he's just kind of an emotionally walled-off, passive-aggressive jerk.

And, Shiro, who quashes his own emotions

and severely downplays the very, undeniably horrible things he's been through (see him somehow standing upright and offering Pidge a pep talk after he was subjected to electro-shock torture,

and repeatedly assuring Keith that he's okay while he has a massive wound in his side

), can do and deserves so much better.

Rewatched Season 7 episode 1 for the sake of needing to write one line in one of my many documents, and Jesus Christmas, how many fights did Shiro and Adam get in?

The fact that it's phrased "... but I won't go through this again"... Again? Again?! The hell happened? How did Shiro fuck up? Was there an instance where his illness was getting to much for him, causing him to nearly be kicked off of another mission? Was Shiro being reckless again? There's so much to unpack in that quote alone.
