in boring adult annoyances, i recently converted my checking account to a different type of checking account with the same credit union. i've done this a couple times over the years cuz it's the same checking account my dad helped me set up when i was 13 and this CU is still my primary financial institution. asked the banker
"will my account number remain the same?"
"yes, we're just converting it to a different type of the same account!"
"so my direct deposit and autopays won't be impacted?"
"correct!"
"and i can still use the same debit card i've been using for the last ~6 years!"
"absolutely!"
"great, let's do it."
fast forward to this week, when three of my autopay bills bounced, my debit card isn't working, and a closer look at my account number shows a 1-digit change at the end. go back to the same branch like "hey no offense but what the fuck??"
different banker takes a look at my accounts, makes a Face, and politely casually asks "so where did you go to make the switch? :)"
"here, this branch. that person over there was actually the one who helped me."
The Face intensifies. ".....Ah. I See. well, it looks like the way the changes were made may have Disrupted some things. you're gonna need a new debit card, etc, i'll get that printed for you ASAP."
[5 minutes later the banker who fucked up the first transaction sheepishly approaches me to hand over my new debit card & apologize profusely.]

Hey bitches! Recently I tried to start the process of financing a car from a dealership but not long into it, they sort of ghosted me? I have heard nothing despite reaching out twice to different people who work there. Should I attempt with the dealership again and try to use this to my advantage? Or should I just give up and go to another one?
Not only should you go to another dealership, but you should tell the first dealership that you're going elsewhere and they're losing your business.
Car dealerships have quotas they need to meet every month. If they miss their quotas, they take home less money. So you should ABSOLUTELY punish their bad customer service by taking your business elsewhere. I did this once and it worked out just fine for me.

So. My car is as good as dead. I took her in for repairs on an oil valve and spark plugs on Wednesday and it totaled to just over $1k in repair costs. Then on Friday, as I was trying to go home from work, the engine wouldn't start. So I got her towed to the same shop that did the repairs on Wednesday and turns out the head gasket is blown. Only one shop in my area will do head gasket repair and that will cost at least $3k assuming they can do it which they won't know until they see the car irl. She won't run so that will be another tow. The shop who did the repairs were very apologetic and are letting me store her at their shop with no storage fee until I can figure out what to do with her. So now I'm looking for a new car (or rather new to me because lord knows I can't afford a brand new car). Combine that with having headaches on and off all week plus work being chaos between a machine going down and delayed shipping of a new machine and this week has royally sucked. I'm currently coping by sitting on the couch with one of my cats, crocheting a Christmas gift for someone, and watching old Mythbusters episodes. Later, to cheer myself up, I'll make myself a latte and write smut. Such is life.

My unpopular opinion is that a lot of Americans who are constantly bitching about ‘the economy’ make enough money to live a comfortable life. They just don’t understand how budgeting works and spend it on dumb shit. If you’re making six figures and claim to be living paycheck to paycheck odds are you just have bad financial skills. They could get a $50k raise and still not have enough money with how poorly they budget it.
Obviously this doesn’t mean that a huge portion of the population isn’t under paid because they are. Those people probably do have a really strict budget because it’s the only way to make ends meet. But the number of people in their 20s and 30s I meet who make $150k+ and think the economy is falling apart just because they’ve put themselves in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and can’t afford to pay it all off really drives me nuts.

I’m so exhausted. I did so much at storage this weekend. A total of 9.5 hours of going through stuff and moving boxes. It took so much out of me. Plus I’m worried about Chloe being sick and about it costing money and about having to buy a new car and having to take out an auto loan. I have rarely napped since starting the Provigil, but I’ve napped for a few hours every day this week, without feeling rested. I’m frustrated at how many recovery days I seem to need. Cfs/me really sucks when it flares. And I have to get up early again tomorrow because Chloe has a checkup appointment at 10:30. I think I’m going to sleep right where I am in the recliner because Chloe is comfortable in her hammock. This way I can have her near me and know she’s ok. I know I’m just babbling at this point. Thank the exhaustion and anxiety. I just want my girl to be ok, and I hate that I worry about the money as much as I worry about her getting better. Does that make me a horrible person?
