Hey maybe Ianto’s seduction of Jack was an even bigger and longer con than we thought. We know he initially flirted his way in to torchwood to hide and save Lisa, and it’s always been a bit of a head scratcher as to why he then pursued the man he held responsible for killing his girlfriend for real.

But maybe when the save-Lisa plan drastically, horrifically failed he continued the strategy….. as an avenge-Lisa plan. “How do I make Jack feel the same pain I do? Make him fall in love with me until I inevitably die tragically, violently, and young (because I work for torchwood). That’ll show him!”

So. When Jack and John reintroduce eachother with their new/fake names, they're obviously very similar. 'Captain Jack Harkness', 'Captain John Hart'. Do we think John heard Jack's name and then came up with a cover name on the spot right then and there, or do you think these two are just so unfortunately synced that they coincidentally stumbled upon similar cover names?

i think 13/river/yaz as like jack/john/ianto like 13 has relationships with both like jack whereas yaz is only into the doctor like ianto and river has a relationship with the doctor and just keeps calling yaz eye candy.

Y’know I used to wonder how Jack seems to have forgotten his involvement with the 456 enough that he doesn’t immediately figure out it’s them as soon as shit starts to go down in Children of Earth considering it didn’t happen that long ago, relatively speaking…

Then, I remembered he’s been buried alive/refrigerated for a few millennia and all of a sudden I’m like ‘oh yeah, that tracks, actually…’

my mother: it’s a shame that the doctor never came to torchwood like they visited the sarah jane adventures.

i mean practical reasons such as age ratings aside, I can think of several instances where a case the torchwood team investigated would’ve probably made the doctor lose all faith in humanity & make them never want to set foot on earth again. also the doctor would have probably pulled an entire shopping trolley out of the tardis & confiscated half of the weaponry & alien tech the team had acquired over the years, would probably get into an argument with (owen or ianto) at least one team member, would strongly advocate for weevil rights, would not be expecting such constant bad language & would potentially scar gwen for life by causally telling her about gwyneth & the gelth.
