Let's talk languages in In Somnis (and general language headcanons I have for characters)

Truthfully, I'm not sure how exactly I'm going to go about this in the actual fic itself because realistically not everyone would be speaking the same language nor at the same fluency. For the ease of telling a story I might just not have anyone really acknowledge this and just pretend everyone speaks the same language but I also feel this isn't true or accurate to the story I want to tell so I'm still figuring out how realistically I want to handle this topic in In Somnis (as I could also use it to help highlight certain themes I have if I do make languages a big deal but once again that comes with an assortment of other complications).

Biggest example being is that Apple doesn’t actually speak Italian very well (and eventually Japanese too once it gets to that point in the story). She’s just fluent enough to get herself by (especially after already having been living there for about 2 years before the start of the series) but she struggles a bit at learning new languages. Do I lean into this or not? I do worry how it would complicate things such as communication down the road. But perhaps that's just the struggle I need to work through as an writer...

Anyway! let's talk about some headcanons!

As I said earlier Apple doesn't speak Italian very well! On the other hand we have Reborn who is a polyglot and who I see as someone who takes a special interest in languages. I think Reborn would try to teach Apple Italian but because I also headcanon him as Sicilian I definitely think he tries to teach her Sicilian too (which is a bad idea especially at the start because she's already struggling hard enough with one language why are you throwing two at her now). On the other hand we have Luce who I headcanon as Northern Italian (From Milan). I think it would be funny if Luce would try to teach Apple Northern Italian slang and intonation and accent. Something that annoys Reborn to no end (which only makes Luce wanna do it more!) and only proves to confuse Apple more lol. Now what languages does Apple actually know? She's the most fluent in English having grown up in North America (I don't know if she's American or Canadian yet but probably Canadian since that's what I'm most familiar with), some Burmese, very little mandarin, and enough Japanese to show anyone she's a weeb /lh. I think her daily life gag would be that due to her poor understanding of Japanese she would often mistake similar sounding (or not so similar sounding) words for one another which leads to all sorts of misunderstandings and hijinks!

Let's talk about Reborn now (and the other arcobalenos in general)! Well I already said he's a polyglot... For Apple and Reborn I think they're primarily speaking English to one another but do randomly mix in or switch to the other languages they know. I think Reborn would actually speak better Burmese (and of course mandarin) than Apple which annoys her to no end. Apple girlie... Why are you letting this white man show you up? /lh I think in general when it comes to the Arcobaleno they're all speaking a mix of Italian and English to one another depending on their level of fluency but it's also just a mix of languages. I imagine them all sitting at a table together you're gonna just hear a lot of different languages being spoken back and forth. Reborn would speak to Fon in Mandarin, while immediately turning to Luce to address her in Italian. Switching to English when it's a group discussion but then switching to French to bicker with Verde. And then of course those who are also fluent in those languages would also contribute and all around! Many languages to be had here!

Now for the tenth gen!! So obviously Gokudera is fluent in Italian but I also like to think he's fluent in English (when he and Apple bicker it's mostly done in English lol). Mukuro I think is another one who is fluent in all three (English, Italian, Japanese). And honestly... Hibari being a rich boy I think he would definitely be fluent in multiple languages. I'm not sure which ones yet but I think if he wanted to learn he could pick it up pretty easily! Now, will he actually speak those languages to you? That's a whole other can of worms... Oh, and I think Lambo is also fluent in all three! (and as we know I-Pin only really knows Mandarin but gets better with her Japanese with time) For Tsuna, Yamamoto, Chrome, and Ryohei I think they're not fluent in either English or Italian (well chrome is learning Italian and is getting there thanks to the Kokuyo gangs influence). I definitely think once things calm down (so post-canon) Reborn starts to give them weekly Italian lessons (he makes Apple sit in on these too much to her displeasure "why am I learning with the kids this isn't fair I'm more fluent than them!... Maybe..."). And he also makes Apple give them English lessons! Though she's not the best teacher so... the results vary lol. Also, Gokudera, being fluent in both languages, doesn't need to be there but attends them anyway to support and help Tsuna. He's so respectful during Reborn's lessons meanwhile for Apple's he's always got something to say and nitpick at. The girls also attend these lessons at times (Haru is the most fluent in English out of them all but Kyoko's isn't bad either!) Apple also gives them separate lessons at times because she finds them more pleasant to be around /j

And then finally... Let's talk about the True Earthlings! Considering they're basically some form of ancient being that they would have their own language! I do think because they've been alive for so long though most Earthlings have picked up multiple other modern languages.

Usually I'd say it's KYOKO SASAGAWA ( & Momina ! ) , but since both choices are not available, I'd say it's Shoichi! Hayashi tends to gravitate towards individuals who are kind to a fault, now of course, you can say all you want about Shoichi, but one thing is true! That he always, always, try to do what is right. ( at what cost ! his heart? ) ⸻ hayashi thinks, if he could, if he were enough ; he'd have helped them anyway he could.

HIBARI KYOYA. For all the fear he cost Hayashi, he feels as though he had and continued to disappoint him. His cousin has yet to give up on him, but Kyoya just doesn't understand, not everyone can fly away ; not when you don't have wings to begin with. with that said, Kyoya does not accept apologies anyway and he knows to keep that sentiment to himself, maybe someday in the near future, hayashi will be able to at least, give Kyoya a 'landing area' if he gets tired flying.

Who didn’t know Haru to be that dedicated friend who always liked to celebrate others and to show affection to those that she cared for? Not only that, who didn’t know that Haru was very willing to call in some favors to a certain ‘scary’ Cloud Guardian whenever it suited her on the basis that they were on friendly terms. He’d never admit to it, but Haru has a ‘built-in Tsundere radar’ as she calls it to understand the truth.

Over the years, Hibari had grown used to being the primary person Haru would ask a favor to deliver gifts to the mafia don herself. Sometimes she’d request the same of Ryohei or Yamamoto whenever they were in Japan. They both did a fair amount of travel for their work as well. Sometimes, if it worked into her schedule and Tsuna had come to visit Japan herself, Haru would have some gifts that she’d been hoarding in the corner of her room to gift to her friend.

It wasn’t a promise that was ever spoken, but if Tsuna had arrived to Japan, there was always some time set aside for the two women to spend time together. It was almost like an unspoken promise between them. As Haru would say, ‘it’s friendship law to spend time after being apart for so long!’

Hibari walked up to Tsuna and handed her a bag. “For your birthday,” is all he said before he turned to leave. As usual, the aloof man who didn’t stay in one place for very long, as per his aloof tendencies. Unless business matters called or there was a fight brewing, he didn’t stay still for long, and that was something everyone had long since accepted about him.

Inside of the bag were a number of things, including a number of letters. One was from Kyoko wishing her a happy birthday. There were two other letters, one bigger than the other. In the bigger one, was letters written by the children who wanted to wish their aunty a happy birthday. The kids drew little drawings in their letters and some pasted pressed flowers to decorate their letters. The last envelope contained a letter from Haru.

[Kyoko’s letter]

Dear Tsu-chan, Hope you’re doing well! Haru and I are doing well in Japan. The children are growing up well, and I think you’d be happy to see how well they’ve been acclimating to life in Japan. Everyone is working hard for the Vongola, and that’s great, but don’t forget to get rest. It’s important to take care of yourself. You’ve done so much for the Vongola, changing some things for the better and I’m always proud to be your friend. We may be far apart, but I’m always thinking about you and hoping for the best. The next time you visit Japan, we should go to a new cake shop that opened up. I think there is a cake there that you’ll really like. Sorry that we can’t be there in person to celebrate your birthday with you, but our hearts are always with you. Haru and I both made your gift together, hope you like it! With love, Kyoko Sasagawa

[Haru’s letter]

Dear Tsu-chan, Haru hopes that you’re in good health when you’re reading this, or she’s going to have to scold you the next time we see each other in person, you know? Haru will give a stink eye to the guys too for not paying enough attention to you. [she drew a small pout face] Joking aside, Haru is sure that you’re doing well. She trusts everyone to do their best to care for themselves. Kyoko and I are doing well in Japan and the kids are also fairing well. We miss seeing you, but we know that you’re doing great and important things in Italy. We’re so proud of everything that you do. You are doing what you can and we’re here doing what we can. Don’t forget that if you ever get tired and need someone to listen, Haru can always lend a figurative shoulder. Sleep isn’t as important as you. Hopefully one day we’ll be able to celebrate your birthday in person! For now, we have to utilize Hibari-san as a delivery-service [she drew a laughing face] This year, Kyoko and I attended a pottery class and we made a cup and plate shaped for you. The children all wrote letters as well with simple messages wishing her a happy birthday. There were lots of pressed flowers, drawn doodles, and one child made a bookmark.

Inside of the bag was an orange box with two carefully wrapped ceramic pieces. One was a mug that looked like a lion’s head with ears jutting out. The plate was long, so it had plenty of space left over for her to place snacks on the plate even after she places her mug atop the plate. A dual-purpose plate was just peak efficiency.

It had a shape of a pawprint at the one end of the plate, with each paw pad being outlined with a groove so she could put different snacks in each paw pad if she wanted to.

This set probably couldn’t be used with company around, but it was something that she could enjoy in the peace and privacy of her own home.

There seemed to be another gift in the corner of the bag, placed in a small box. Inside was a chain brooch, the kind that you attach to lapels of any dress shirt or a suit-coat. On one end of the chain brooch was a lion with embedded orange gems on the mane. On the other end of the chain was the emblem of the Vongola with the sky symbol. Clearly, there was some custom-work done on this piece. There was no note that came along with the gift.

If Tsuna were to ask Haru about the chain brooch at a later date, Haru would’ve informed her that it wasn’t anything that she prepared as a gift, so that one had come from Hibari. Perhaps, he was too ‘shy’ to openly convey his birthday wishes to her.

Was he actually shy? No, but it was Haru’s troll-antics that liked to spin things in weird ways as small jokes. In reality it was simply: Hibari was aloof and it was in his nature to put his gift in with the other gifts and allow her to piece together the mystery for herself. His ‘boss’ can’t have such a slow wit, after all. She can figure it out.

One day during one of his travels, he saw the chain brooch on display with two lions embedded with green emeralds, and he’d consulted with the jeweler to make some modifications to replace the emeralds with golden citrine gems instead as they most closely resembled the color of the Sky flames. Additionally, the gem is said to be great in absorbing and dissipating negative energy while bringing an abundance and prosperity to the owner.

Did he believe that their ‘healing abilities’ included benefits such as anxiety relief, boosting confidence, providing protection, providing good fortune and success amongst other perks? No, but if it were true, that would be nice, he thought. Though on the other end of the chain was the same lion facing the other direction, he’d put in a special request for something else instead. He’d custom ordered the Vongola emblem with the sky symbol to replace the one lion brooch.

This chain brooch would be pinned on the lapels of dress shirts. It would be quite fitting for her, wouldn’t you think?

Tsuna sat down in the comfortable armchair in her Florence apartment. Beside her on the table was a cup of tea, its gentle aroma mixing with the scent of the autumn day drifting in through the open window. On her lap rested a package Hibari had just delivered. As always, his approach was curt and reserved—no unnecessary words, just a brief "For your birthday" and a quick departure. She remained seated for a moment, smiling at his typical way of communicating.

She opened the package slowly, as if trying to prolong the joy of anticipation. The first thing she found were letters. As she began reading Kyoko's handwriting, delicate and precise as always, her heart warmed. Kyoko's words were filled with love, support, and that natural optimism that always had a calming effect on her. The mention of new pastries from a bakery in Japan made her laugh. "Yes, Kyoko, we will definitely make time," she murmured to herself, flipping the letter over to read the next one.

Haru… Haru was always the livelier, more spontaneous one. Her doodled smiley faces and little notes in the letter brought a wide grin to Tsu-chan's face. "Haru never fails to brighten the day," she thought. She could clearly imagine her, enthusiastically picking out gifts while simultaneously planning their next adventure as soon as they reunited.

The letters from the children were the highlight. Tsuna felt her eyes well up with tears as she read their simple yet sincere wishes, brimming with childlike innocence. The little drawings, pressed flowers, and even a handmade bookmark—every small detail reminded her that, despite the hectic life she led, there were still people who thought of her with love. She gently ran her fingers over the drawings and smiled. "Maybe it's time to visit Japan again," she pondered.

Then her gaze fell on the ceramics. The lion-shaped mug made her laugh immediately. It was so whimsical, with its adorable ears, that she could already picture herself drinking her morning cappuccino from it. The plate with paw prints was equally practical and amusing. "Kyoko and Haru have outdone themselves again—exactly how I like it," she said, carefully placing the ceramics on the table to display them later.

But there was one more gift. A small box tucked into the corner of the package. She opened it with curiosity, and when she revealed the chain brooch, she paused in silence for a moment. The lion motif and orange gemstones… everything about it exuded elegance and symbolism. She gently ran her fingers over the details of the brooch. On one side, a lion; on the other, the Vongola emblem with the Sky symbol.

Hibari.

"So quiet, yet he knows exactly what to choose," she thought. It wasn’t an ordinary gift. It was thoughtful, perfectly reflecting her position and personality. She spent the rest of the day trying the brooch on various blazers and shirts, pondering where she could wear it so it would be visible but not too conspicuous.

In the evening, as she sat on the balcony watching the setting sun, she picked up Kyoko's and Haru's letters again. "Family," she murmured softly. "It's not always about blood. It's about who thinks of you, who brightens your day, and who gives you the feeling that you are not alone."

These small gestures—letters, gifts, even Hibari's peculiar way of showing care—reminded her that even in the chaotic world of the mafia, she was still surrounded by love.

Aww, this is such a sweet, and light ask and I had a lot of fun imagining it :) Thank you so much for sending this in and I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons!

This is such a cute idea and it's really not a huge jump for me. I'm treating this less as an alternate universe and more as a potential way her future could turn out because I do see Kyoko as someone who enjoys baking and has since she was a child.

It's shown in canon that Kyoko really does have a sweet tooth, enjoying cakes and pastries and I see her, whenever she finds a new type of cake she enjoys from her trips to the bakeries in Namimori, researching recipes for how it's made and trying her own hand at making them.

I see her really being self-taught and by the time she does become an adult, Kyoko's baked goods are absolutely superb. They receive compliments from everyone who tries them, which is quite a few people because she does love baking for those she cares about. It's actually Hana though who makes the offhand comment that Kyoko's baked goods are just as tasty as any from the bakeries and stores and people would pay good money for them.

I think that really gets Kyoko thinking, after the first initial shyness and gratitude for the compliment. She's always imagined how nice it would be to work in a bakery and yeah, she's daydreamed here and there throughout the years about what her shop would look like or what they'd specialize in. But she's never really taken those thoughts seriously, not until Hana's suggestion and the agreement of the others that are close to her.

At that point, she starts to think about a shop a lot more, starts to really sit down and figure out if it could ever be a possibility. She shares her thoughts with those close to her and news of her idea gets brought around to Reborn, who mentions it to Tsuna, how nice it would be for Kyoko. But bakeries are, of course, expensive to start, which is where Kyoko is running into the issues and what's really stopping her from seriously pursuing this dream of hers.

Kyoko opens her shop after getting an anonymous lump sum donated for the creation of her bakery. She not only has enough to pay the rent on her shop, buy all the equipment, but has enough to hire employees. She makes it a 'family' type business, hiring the friends who have become family to her whenever possible. Hana takes care of all the money and keeps the books, Haru works part time helping out in the kitchen, I-Pin helps in the front shop whenever possible. Reborn even helps create a coffee blend specifically done for the bakery, while Fon creates a tea blend for the bakery, and those unique touches help with the bakery's success.

Her other friends support her business, help her advertise, spread the word. Though the first year or so was touch and go on how successful Kyoko's bakery would turn out being, I think it really hit it's stride come about a year and half and starts to really gain mainstream popularity.

They get a lot of business catering weddings and events, doing specialty cakes and dessert buffets.

Kyoko's becomes known for the best cream puffs in all of Namimori and their cheesecake is also considered the best in the area and a must-try.

The Forum OCs are retired and I probably won't ever write them again. Mako Jun, I'd probably have to brush up on every now and again when the mam of his husband Atlas pops in to chat. IMPORTANT CANON CHARACTERS - WEDERGEBORE

NAME: Tsunayoshi Sawada

FACTION: He is the new Head of The Hadia. Though he is being pushed to engage in war, he has neither an interest in holding the position he holds or of making anyone fight a war he's not sure he agrees with at all.

ABILITY: Tsuna has the ability to enhance, control, or completely nullify the abilities of those he has shared his blood with, no matter how far away that other person can be. This ability also has a side effect of letting him know when that person is in danger.

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES: As the current Head of The Hadia, Tsuna gets given a lot of magical equipment, charms, weapons, and so on. Because Tsuna never wants to purposefully hurt anyone's feelings, he'll never refuse these gifts and he does try to find a use for them, either for himself or one of his family members.

NAME: Gokudera Hayato

FACTION: Right-hand man and current Guardian to the Head of The Hadia

ABILITY: Gokudera has the ability to summon a flaming wrist-mounted crossbow and arrow. By feeding his energy and life-force into it to different degrees or by feeding it different emotions, Gokudera can produce arrows that have a variety of effects, such as targeting, tracking, piercing, explosive, etc.

NAME: Yamamoto Takeshi

FACTION: Left-hand man and current Guardian to the Head of The Hadia

ABILITY: Yamamoto was born with the ability of aquamancy. That is, he can control water in all it's forms, including having the ability to make it rain or snow.

FACTION: Guardian of the current Head of The Hadia

ABILITY: Lambo has the ability to control the weather, with an strong emphasis on creating thunder and lightning storms.

ABILITY: I-Pin is able to transform her body into an powerfully explosive bomb. Her own bottom is impervious to any effects, but the strength of the explosion can create a small crater of about five feet. Her explosion can be stopped if someone can distract her before she can detonate.

Because escapism is my favorite copying strategy I went into the backstories for my KHR super!verse and added more angst. As one does in times like these. I cut the scene afterwards because it didn‘t fit into the new chapter but I may add it at a later point into the story. And if I don‘t, consider this an extra snippet. 

No real warnings beyond the previously mentioned angst. Also this will make no sense if you aren‘t at least passingly familiar with my flip a coin [head for villain, tail for hero] verse.

He should be planning his next steps. Figure out what else he can do to improve the state of his mind. Instead Tsuna’s thoughts keep going in circles. Although it‘s less of a circle and more of a straight line that leads into an unexpected direction.

Because— Tsuna hasn‘t thought of the Sasagawa siblings in years.

They used to be neighbors back when Tsuna still lived at home with his mother. The younger one, Kyouko, still comes up in conversations sometimes because she‘s Hana‘s best friend. Tsuna tries hard to ignore those moments though. He‘s spent enough time during his childhood staring at Sasagawa Kyouko, fascinated by her ability to appear harmless, gentle, kind, soft in spite of the flames that burn so brightly within her, they even outshine her brother‘s brilliant light.

Ryohei though? Hana doesn‘t talk about him. Neither does anyone else.

But that doesn‘t mean Tsuna‘s forgotten. No. He still remembers a time in his life, back in middle school, when the mere idea that no one would someday know Sasagawa Ryohei‘s name seemed unimaginably ridiculous to him.

Everyone knew Ryohei. He was friendly, as kind as his sister unless someone said a word against her, but more than that he was loud. Over the top. Powerful. [Stupid, some of the older years sneered behind his back, though they stopped quickly after— after.]

It was an accident. A tragedy. Everyone agreed on that. But an accident nonetheless. 

A mental activating their gift in the middle of a heated fight with Ryohei, forcing their will on him without knowing that‘s what they were doing, rearranging his reality to their whim. Making him believe he was no super.

It happened off-school grounds, sometime shortly before Ryohei turned seventeen — and with it old enough to be pre-drafted into Vongola Inc.‘s special training for gifted supers. There were no witnesses around, so the entire story was more gossip than fact. Still well-known among Tsuna‘s neighborhood though. As was the fact that despite involvement of the local authorities the mental in question was never found.

People were… not pleased.

[There were posters for months afterwards, on every lamp post down his street. MENTALS NOT WELCOME, they read. OUTLAW MENTAL GIFTS. And IGNORANCE DOESN’T PROTECT AGAINST PUNISHMENT. Tsuna saw Ryohei stop in front of one of them once, face blank in a way that didn‘t suit him.

He didn’t rip the poster down. He didn’t want to.]

Despite all that drama, it would have been easy to forget Sasagawa Ryohei all too quickly. Being no longer a super in any way that mattered, Ryohei didn’t come back to school anymore and after a while people stopped talking about him. Stopped talking about the Sasagawa siblings period and instead started saying “the Sasagawa girl” instead — safe perhaps for the occasional reminder of why mentals where so dangerous and what could befall innocent supers if they were left to roam the world uninhibited.

Tsuna probably would’ve forgotten too. Middle school had been hard enough as it was and he’d never really known Ryohei. But they were neighbors and so while the rest of the world seemed perfectly at peace to move on without Sasagawa Ryohei, Tsuna spent many afternoons inside his room, looking out of the window down into their neighbors’ backyard.

That was the one thing tripping him up back then. The thing Tsuna couldn’t understand. 

Ryohei had to know he would never regain his previous strength and capabilities, not with all the training in the world. That people’s pity was fast becoming tinged with mocking as they whispered about his inability to move on. To face what had been done to him, vile as it was, instead of shredding his body to bits with no regards for its new limits. That his parents should just send him to one of those normal schools, give him a chance at a normal life where he wouldn’t spent the rest of his life being found lacking.

Yet none of that ever seemed to stop Ryohei. He trained every day right up until he moved out of his parents’ home the day he turned eighteen. 

Tsuna hasn’t seen him since but he knows that Ryohei never stopped training with the same certainty that he knows it wasn’t some random mental who inflicted the damage.

He’s never looked at Kyouko the same.

Back then Tsuna couldn’t understand why Ryohei kept trying. Now… now he thinks he might be starting to. 

[Wishes with all his heart he had some of that same fire pushing him forward.]

“Well?” the little boy snaps, apparently tired of being ignored.

Tsuna blinks. Right.

The final two Reborn arcs were terrible, but if they ever did animate them I would still be a happy camper cause I can finally gif my very rare criminally underrated Kaoru x Kyoko crack ship.

I think Mukuro/Chrome snap bonded with Tsuna over “fuck the mafia” because it’s ruined/ing their lives. Takeshi I think *acts* like its a game because you play games with your friends. Lambo was a hard no for me because he’s far too young for that responsibility and Ryhoei reminds me too much of Iemitsu. Gokudera was toxic and had all his hopes & dreams pinned on another persons choices instead of something he could achieve for himself. Hibari felt like he was baited into it, rather than chose.

Ryhoei kinda does act like Iemitsu... a little. i think he's less toxic but he does have some toxic vibes. I'm going to say that it probably is the fault of his family though. Kyoko hating violence, being so against it and apparently making him promise not to fight had to come from somewhere, and parents tend to be the fault there. So I think if he'd had someone to show him otherwise, it would be different.

Issue with Gokudera is I think there's a lot of potential, it just wasn't carried out. An arc where he learns to try and have his hopes/dreams for himself and slowly let go of his connection to others would have been nice. We got what, barely anything out of that? Maybe a few throw away comments.

For the trophy wife verse...

Fem!Tsuna isn't that fond of the Sasagawa siblings if only cause Ryhoei is loud and she ain't into that, and Kyoko reminds her of her mother which she also isn't fond of. She loves Nana, but the obliviousness is a bit much. Plus how cruel Nana can be with her words (IE: Calling canon Tsuna Dame. While this Tsuna doesn't have the name, Nana ain't all that much better). Tsuna and Kyoko both are class idols, it's just that Tsuna is more sassy then Kyoko.

Kyoko is very much the 'good girl' and Tsuna is more 'bad girl' but not really? It's hard to explain...

Both have similar interests and attitudes, but Tsuna will tell people off and insult them. While yes, we do have Hana in canon, Tsuna is less mean. She'll insult you if you deserve it, but mostly she just ignores you.

Also, again she's more agressive feminine then soft feminine. Kyoko is gentle and soft, sweet and kind. I can't see her wearing glitter eyeshadow with long nails or anything. Meanwhile Tsuna has in fact gone all out and done that stuff. Both are fans of the domestic arts, it's just Tsuna makes no secret about how much she cares about how she looks.

It would be interesting to have her not 'slap' down at Gokudera but like tell him off and force him through a character arc, spelling out why she's refusing to be his sky and why he gets rejected.

i mean, why not? we never saw what their parents look like, and kyoko and ryohei don't really look similar either. (not that children always look like their parents or that siblings always look alike, of course, but i'm just saying it makes it even easier to have this headcanon in this case, and not not canon as far as we know lol.)

i can't say i see how it'd affect canon and would let you play with and change it tho. like kyoko being adopted doesn't have to mean she can't still have the exact same relationship with her family that she has in canon, or that she has to have issues about it at all, if you get what i mean? except, of course, if it's the whole point of making her adopted.

like for one it opens all the possibilities about what kind of backstory to give her, which'd be super fun to play with!! and because i talked about this au recently, but maybe she's an estraneo survivor. maybe she's someone else's biological sibling (for example the way amano draw her later in the manga makes her look incredibly similar to tsuna at times). maybe she was (and still is) mafia, depending on at which age she gets adopted (and even then, see lambo and i-pin). maybe she knew and activated her flames before anyone else. maybe she's lying about her past and either the sasagawas are in the know or not.

just really all the fun possibilities with that alone, and by all means go wild with them and with everything else nonny!

Me here suddenly for no reason and not prompted by our talks: so out of curiosity....what would Apple and Haru's relationship be like if they interacted?

In regards to the Apple and Haru relationship... To be honest they don't necessarily share a deep bond or connection but I still think it's fun regardless!

So, in my personal headcanon, due to Haru coming from a more academic background/family and her going to a fancy private school, I think she would speak English to a certain level of fluency! She still attends Apple's little English lessons with the other girls to help her fluency and improve her speaking skills but she's quite good with English on her own!! (if anyone is reading this and is confused please see this post ♡ in which I go over some language headcanons) I also think Haru (and Kyoko!) would act as like guides for Apple when she first arrives in Namimori happily showing her the sites and Haru translating or explaining anything Apple doesn't understand at first. Also don't tell Gokudera (he is well aware actually and says he doesn't care) but Apple prefers Haru as a guide and translator since she's much nicer😤!

Other than that they will enjoy desserts together and overall Apple thinks she's a sweet girl... A little odd at times but she really can't be judging. If anything she finds her quirkiness endearing more than anything else since Apple knows too many people who are quirky but not so harmless or nice haha... Though when she sees Haru acting especially strange Apple tends to just walk the other way lol. She's like "that ain't got nothing to do with me." /lh And I think Haru will also think Apple is a cool older/big sister type person (don't look too deep though Haru and see she's not cool at all). Kinda like Bianchi! though I don't think they would get as close as Bianchi and the girls do or share that kind of bond but I think she would have the same level of respect for Apple!

hello i hope u dont mind. Since there is so many reborn au asks i thought i could offer, i hope its okay, and have fun with this one! What are your thoughts about ryohei sasagawa? I think he is just so underrated and he received not much love for being a typical jock with no brains. Since he is a sun guardian, I think his healing ability could have more use other than optimism and resilience. What would ur take be for a oc!ryohei?

I agree he was definitely underutilized in canon and is a very underrated character. I think my take on Ryohei would be to keep his canon traits but just…expand on them. Dude is canonically an overprotective older brother— I want him to be everyone’s older brother. I want him to be unable to walk down the street without adopting 3 kids, 2 cats, and half a dozen dogs. I want him to be a buff Disney princess who squares up with anyone who makes one of his “little sibs” cry. He almost gets expelled at the tender age of 8 when he decks a teacher for calling Tsuna useless. When Mochida decides to pursue Kyoko, Ryohei gives him one look and Mochida privately decides to find someone else to crush on. He has at least 3 stray animals in his backpack at all times and a bird nesting in his hair. He’s on a first name basis with all the vets in town.

Of course, he’s still completely obsessed with boxing. He loves boxing, fighting in general, to the point that when someone attacks him, he sees it as a gesture of friendship rather than an act of hostility. It’s for this reason that he is absolutely 100% convinced that he and Hibari are best buds, despite the latter’s enthusiastic attempts to disabuse him of this notion. The pattern repeats with Mukuro. And Squalo.

He also ends up a really good healer but completely by accident. Turns out during all those years of lugging injured animals to the vet and bandaging up scraped knees and scuffed elbows, he ended up unintentionally activating the healing aspect of his Sun flames. In fact, he ends up being something of a prodigy when it comes to Dying Will Flames. After all, if there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s how to be himself. There’s no conflict there, he knows exactly who he is and what he wants to do, and as a result, he’s the first to learn how to control his flames.

Ryohei has had the same routine for the last three weeks.

Open his eyes at 6 right as the nurses come in for his check-up. Sleep again until 7:30 when they feed him breakfast. A check-up from the doctor at 10. Watch TV until 12. Lunch. TV, or mental training. Kyoko visits and brings him dinner around 6pm, sometimes Sawada and the others come with her. His parents, on the other hand, don’t even know he’s back in Namimori. Then, when Kyoko and their friends leave, he closes his eyes until lights out.

Pretty safe to say at this point that he is extremely bored.
