Hello and welcome to Day 21 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"

Sorry if this is later than usual 😅

Today, I have a more unusual crossover plot bunny for you all - a Cardfight! Vanguard and Katekyo Hitman Reborn crossover!

The main motivations for this (already 2 or so years old) idea are as follows:

I love any card game anime - Cardfight Vanguard, FutureCard Buddyfight, Yu-Gi-Oh!; you name it, I probably already watched and loved the whole thing. Vanguard is probably my second most favorite anime besides the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime from this genre of shows.

I want Tsuna to have an actual hobby and make friends that aren't forced upon him by someone else. Like seriously, let the kid be a fucking kid - all world saving shenanigans aside.

So, yeah. Making Tsuna play a game and enjoy it while also making friends is the main goal of this fic. Also, I still have yet to find a good title for this fic idea yet, so any suggestions are welcome.

As for the synopsis:

After Tsuna got his Sky Flames sealed, he went to a festival with his mother. Tsuna got lost and met a young man named Daichi. Daichi kept Tsuna company till they were found by Nana. During this time, Daichi, in an attempt to cheer Tsuna up, showed him a bunch of Vanguard cards he had on himself. Tsuna instantly loved them, especially one Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel. Once Nana found them, Daichi decides to give Tsuna the card he liked most out of the ones he showed him as a keepsake. (Daichi kinda feels like both Ezel and Tsuna need each other and if he ever learned something while playing Vanguard is that you listen to your gut in these situations)

Tsuna comes back home with Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel, and with a new determination to make a deck to fight Daichi with it in the future. And so, years passed, and even though Tsuna did gather enough cards to make the deck he wanted, because of the seal's interference with Tsuna's courage and self esteem, he never got the nerve to actually have a Vanguard Fight with someone.

One day, Tsuna gets another headache before going to school (which is a common occurrence nowadays due to the seal clashing with Tsuna's Hyper Intuition) and gets the impression he should bring his deck to school. Even though nothing happens at school, while on the way back home, Tsuna bumps into another boy his age, scattering the vanguard cards the boy had in his hand. Since he feels guilty, Tsuna helps the boy gather them up, and once done, he, seemingly in a hurry, runs off. Unfortunately, Tsuna sees one of the cards from the boy's deck on the ground and follows him to give it back.

Tsuna ends up catching with the boy - who introduces himself as Jun - at a card shop named "Card Citadel." Jun, wanting to thank Tsuna somehow for returning one of his cards, asks if he plays. Tsuna, thinking this might be the only time he gets to fight like this, says he has a deck but never really played against anyone. Jun offers to be his first opponent and teach him the rules of a true fight.

Both enjoy the fight a lot, and Jun, feeling like he found another person with potential in Tsuna, wants to be his friend. Although bewildered, Tsuna accepts, and they make plans to meet at Card Citadel again tomorrow.

Next, Tsuna meets Ayaka, Jun's classmate and friend, who is also a cardfighter. All three of them became extremely close friends in the few months they knew each other for. When the opportunity to enter a Vanguard Tournament appears, the three of them decide to take it - mostly because they wanna know how playing in a tournament feels like and because they want to have fun playing against stronger opponents. The name they come up with for their team is "Skyfall," which is a fairly ominous name, but also, it's too catchy to just gloss over.

As Team Skyfall, they make it to the finals of the regional tournament only to meet Team Orion and its leader, Shindou. While Ayaka and Jun fought with Shindou's teammates, Tsuna faced Shindou, which ended in Team Skyfall's defeat. Tsuna, for the first time, feels very angry at some of the comments made by Shindou during their fight and wants to prove him wrong. Jun and Ayaka are also frustrated over the loss (in Ayaka's case) and win (in Jun's case). Jun feels like he won because of luck and not skill, so he feels like he shouldn't accept the win. Ayaka lost her fight and felt like she needed to improve or else she would be left behind.

All three decide to review their decks and get better from then on. Fortunately, there is another regional selection for the tournament they just lost. Unfortunately, most of the teams participating are teams that placed second in their regional tournament. This is the only chance left to go to the nationals for all of them.

Fuelled by their determination to face Team Orion again and win this time around, Team Skyfall wins the chance to go for the nationals. From there, after facing more and more powerful opponents, Team Skyfall manages to meet Team Orion again in the national finals. This time around, Team Skyfall won, and, reluctantly, Shindou recognized their skills. Although there are more things to settle between the two teams, they are amiable with each other from then on.

After the nationals are over and some more time passes, Tsuna and his friends get invitations to a (fancy) meeting with other National Champion Teams in New York (the costs being covered by their host). Thankfully, this takes place over the summer so they can attend it.

At the meeting, they encounter many other fighters such as Alessio and his team, La Vipera (Italy's Champion team), and Kong and his team The Chi (China's Champion Team) among others. This meeting is merely a formal introduction for every Champion to each other and to their host, who introduces himself as "Akash."

Akash wants to make Vanguard an even more popular game, and to do so, he introduces the notion of an annual tournament between the Champion Teams of each country. Akash assures them that the idea is still not yet to be put in motion as he can tell most of the ones present are not convinced. Instead, he says that everyone should take this opportunity to know each other better and, if they are available, they can meet again next year around the same time for another meeting - of course, the travelling and hotel costs for the champion teams are covered by Akash himself.

Although Tsuna feels like there is something more to Akash than meets the eye, he and his friends still enjoy their one week stay in New York and make friends there that they continue to keep in touch with.

After coming back to Japan, the three met new faces around Card Citadel, the cardfight beginners Kira (who is Shindou's classmate apparently) and Rinne, a more ... hot-headed individual. While Kira is somewhat aware of how to play Vanguard, Rinne is a total newbie that Tsuna decides to teach the ins and outs of the game, the same way Jun taught him two years ago. (And yes, at this point, it has been closer to 2 years since Tsuna met Jun)

Despite his fiery attitude, Rinne gets the game rules down pretty fast and becomes more excited about fighting other people. He and Kira become a permanent addition to Tsuna, Jun, Ayaka, and Shindou's group and continue to meet at Card Citadel.

A new tournament is announced during the winter season of this year. This Vanguard Tournament features a tag fight setting instead of the usual 1v1 setting they experienced till now. And you cannot choose your tag partners. Instead, you will be placed at random with another participant from the same bracket you are in.

The six friends join in the tournament, meeting old friends, but also new ones too. However, there is one person Tsuna never thought he would ever see participating in such a tournament, and that is Hibari Kyoya, the so-called "Demon of Namimori, who terrified the entire school (both students and teachers alike) and pretty much controls Namimori Middle School with an iron fist.

Unsurprisingly (since this is Tsuna we are talking about), Tsuna's random tag team partner is the aforementioned Habari Kyoya. But surprisingly, both of them work together quite well... (if you ignore the fact that Kyoya barely spoke with Tsuna since the teams were made, that is).

As the tournament goes on, Tsuna feels like Kyoya doesn't trust him as a teammate all that much (given that Kyoya doesn't talk with him at all or even seem to acknowledge that they are fighting together). Meanwhile, Kyoya is trying to get a read on this version of Tsunayoshi Sawada that he had never seen before - more confident in his skills, more open to social interaction, more ... carnivore than the herbivore Kyoya pegged Tsuna to be. This Tsunayoshi is pretty much the opposite of the herbivore he always sees at school. And yet, Kyoya can help to notice that not every herbivore behavior was left behind when Tsunayoshi became a carnivore - which should make him an omnivore. The first omnivore Kyoya has ever seen to be more precise.

The Tag Team Tournament ends with Kyoya and Tsuna vs. Shindou and Jun (who seem more ready to fight each other than him and Kyoya, Tsuna can't help but notice.) By a stroke of luck and a bit of Shindou's stategic mind, Tsuna and Kyoya lose the match - but they aren't that upset about it. Tsuna likes that he managed to be a good tag team partner for Kyoya since Kyoya acknowledged him during their fight against Shindou and Jun. Kyoya, on the other hand, finds himself enjoying this new omnivore Tsunayoshi a lot more than the herbivore one. Kyoya decides that maybe Tsunayoshi's presence is something he is more agreeable to having around himself - as long as his loud friends aren't going to bother him, that is.

And so Kyoya, from time to time, shows up at Card Citadel as well. Mostly to fight Tsuna as 1v1, which most of the time Tsuna loses. But still he is having a lot of fun.

Now, in his 3rd year of middle school and already a Vanguard Champion and participating in more tournaments while also debating which high school he should choose, Tsuna gets another surprise. Well, two actually.

The first one is the self-proclaimed "World's Best Hitman" named Reborn, who says he is here to teach Tsuna how to be a Mafia Boss. (Which OK... knowing Alessio well means Tsuna is more or less aware of Mafia shenanigans since Alessio is part of a Mafia family)

The second one is that Akash has decided that the Annual World Tournament should begin this year - and Tsuna's Intuition tells him something bad might happen there.

Regardless, he first has to survive whatever Reborn has in store for him before facing the disaster he feels the newly announced tournament will become. And if the whole Flames thing that Reborn has been telling him about is actually connected to both Akash and the game that he loves to play and that gave him all these amazing friends, well Tsuna will protect his friends (both the old ones and the new ones) from danger with all he has.

Some details:

In terms of clans for every character I have the following: Tsuna has Gold Paladins (because Ezel); Jun has Granblue (I just like the image of Tsuna's first opponent ever as a Pirate); Ayaka has Oracle Think Tank; Shindou has Shadow Paladin (befitting of the 1st major enemy Tsuna has to face); Kira has Nova Grappler; Rinne has Kagero; Hibari Kyoya has either Dark Irregulars or Narukami (still haven't decided but I am leaning towards Dark Irregulars); Alessio also uses Dark Irregulars, while Kong uses Nova Grappler.

In terms of Ace Vanguards/Units, I have the following list for them with photos (also, all of these are grade 3):

Tsuna - Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel

Jun - Young Pirate Noble, Pinot Noir

Ayaka - Supreme Heavenly Battle Diety, Susanoo

Kira - Galaxy Blaukluger

Rinne - Amber Dragon, Eclipse

Shindou - Knight of Severity, Dubdrenn

Alessio - Scharhrot Vampir

Kong - Beast Diety, Azure Dragon

This idea really just came to me because I wanted Tsuna to have a freaking hobby that he enjoys doing. And because I wanted him to make friends without Reborn's interference. Like seriously, let the kid be a kid and have a game to enjoy.

I can only imagine the amount of confusion Reborn has when Tsuna explains what Vanguard is. Same when Tsuna appears to be on good terms with Hibari Kyoya of all people.

I WANT Tsuna to go to Italy for some tournament or because Alessio wanted him to visit. Why? Because it will be hilarious to explain to Reborn that yes, Tsuna was in Milano before. And yes, Tsuna knows how to speak Italian (at least conversation level). And let that paint for Reborn just how incompetent of a father Iemitsu is, since he (and by extend the CEDEF) is unaware of Tsuna ever being in Italy at any point in time. Like, how do you not know that your own child is in Italy? And, even worse, that your child is some Champion Representative for Japan for a (fairly popular) card game?

Because no Cardfight! Vanguard fic idea is complete (in my mind) without some PSYqualia bullshit, there will be PSYqualia bullshit. Who gets it and how, we will see.

I feel like by the end of this whole thing, Akash is either going to be your most beloved son (like he is to me) or your most, "I hate him because of his actions" character. Like, there is no in-between for Akash. (Even I oscillate between the two categories sometimes)

Both Alessio and Kong are part of the Mafia world. But again, they are children. So let children enjoy their damn game, mafia people.

You wonder how Kyoya got into the game? Blame Tsuna for that one. Kyoya got curious since whenever Tsuna would meet with Jun and Ayaka at Card Citadel, he would look excited and happier than before. Kyoya picked up on that change and followed him to Card Citadel. He got into the game without even meaning to do so. (Kusakabe is glad that Kyoya has some type of hobby besides just hitting people)

The whole thing between Kyoya and Tsuna mostly happens because I refuse to believe Kyoya wouldn't pick up on changes within his territory. Especially when said change happens to Sawada Tsunayoshi (who is a sealed sky, which is why Kyoya feels that Tsuna's strange as all hell. Unfortunately, he just chucked that to herbivore behavior without looking too much into it.)

Tsuna's seal here is mainly keeping his Sky Flames back, but it also interferes with his Hyper Intuition. This causes Tsuna to have a lot of migraines. So much so that he has pills prescribed by the doctor for them.

Speaking of the seal, it also is far too powerful for some measly bullet to break, so no magical "Reborn/Shamal does shit" that can get rid of the seal. Only Tsuna, through some unknown to him (but known to me) means, can remove the seal. After all, I feel that Nono would have put a strong seal on the CHILD that was a DANGER to his sons' sucession who were located in ITALY. (I can't get over the whole Nono thing, really. And I don't fucking buy that he wanted Tsuna "to have a civilian life" just like Iemitsu wished. Nono took the opportunity to get rid of another obstacle to his sons' succession as the next Vongola Boss. Simple as that. Too bad the Universe said "fuck you Nono" and killed his children)

And this is about it.

Holy hell, this was loooong. Hopefully, my ramblings entertained you all. Also, a bit of a heads up, you may see more Cardfight! Vanguard (or card game anime) ideas from me in the future - it mainly depends on how hyperfixated my brain can get on that idea. Also, yeah, I hyperfixated on this idea for the last 2 years. This is why it's more articulated than the others.

what if: someone (teen, well adjusted, probably) reincarnates as hibari kyōya?

think of a reincarnated male (probably) from modern world, no magic or anything other than technology, probably no major religious beliefs in life-after-death or anything of the sort.

and then imagine that same teen suddenly waking up as a baby, where wanting to walk off by himself is perfectly fine and okay. where sometimes some new relative of his has the ability to make him drowsy, or can heal his scrapes with some strange glow, or the fact that his great uncle is somehow some a literate baby looking thing, but is also somehow older than his grandma.

and the kidnappings, probably, because hey, it’s eye of the storm fon’s baby relative that he’s obviously fond of, right? they could totally get something out of him!

(wrong and nobody ever tried again. probably partly because of what fon did in response, and partly because how was this actual toddler active.

if this happened in canon, i imagine kyōya’s mind would be still fuzzy enough to not have that awareness of the danger he’s in and the will to spark dying will flames. but this one??? with self preservation and the knowledge of dying once sends him straight to activation.)

maybe tsuna or takeshi or maybe even shōichi??? reminding oc!kyōya of somebody he used to know.

ummm when i wrote this i think i had a scene where fon found out (my reasoning was that he saw that kyōya looked like him, old in a too young body) and asked about it and i think it was meant to give oc a little more closure (though i also wrote that he had resolved himself to live as kyōya when he was four??? dunno how accurate that is.)

i,,, actually have a lot more snippets and semi-incorrect-quotes and headcanons than i thought. i guess i’ll include them here, they’re not as bad as i thought they were.

kyōya has fon wrapped around his fingers, not that he knows it

Kyōya is all instinct, would go in guns (tonfa) blazing. However, oc is more cautious, and can plan how to talk and scheme his way out of a situation. He also like controlled violence, and so Mukuro’s battle goes a bit differently

kyōya has all but adopted all the street cats. and birds. all of them. including a falcon he is particularly fond of. nobody knows how in the world he tamed that, but he did.

kyōya has connections

kyōya also has minor mist flames

kyōya probably uses his old identity as a disguise, if he had to, simply because who he used to be does not exist.

Fon nods, briefly and sadly, but with a weight lifted off of his shoulders. Probably slightly happy that his nephew was never replaced, he’s just always been a bit off and knowing. He probably also thinks it makes Kyōya feel better by talking about it. He’s kind like that.

“Remember to call if you need anything, Kyōya,” he reminds, face back into that calm state. “I will always have time for you.”

He jumps off, but Kyōya is— that reassurance means more to him than he would ever know. Because he knows he’s busy, with the Triads sending him on diplomatic missions because he’s unaffiliated with any particular branch, and that he’s completely fine with the workload, but sometimes just drops on his bed in Kyōya’s room that he had added a year ago. He knows, and to offer at least words and an open ear for his problems of annoying loud children and the fact that the adults just won’t learn, means the world to Kyōya.

(But if his great-uncle ever wants to break free and they won’t let him… He just has to say the word.

Kyōya doesn’t just keep the peace in Namimori, after all, and Irie promised him any favor, as long as he didn’t have to get physically envolved.

Kyōya is a Cloud, and his Physical Territory is Namimori. However, who said a Cloud only had one? Who decided that all Clouds only kept one thing, weren’t greedy for another and weren’t possessive enough to pull it off?)

“Uncle.”

“Yes, Kyōya—?”

“A not-baby with a yellow pacifier is in Namimori. He is shooting a first year middle schooler named Sawada Tsunayoshi with bullets that cause him to shout something about his “Dying Will” in his boxers.”

Fon paused. “…I see. So, Reborn is in Namimori. Ah— I heard a rumor that he was going to Japan to train the next Vongola Decimo. Perhaps that’s why?” he suggested. “That Herbivore? Please, the way he’s doing it is just going to make him terrified and reject it even more. He might even become more like his mother as a defense mechanism.”

"Hibari, is that a falcon." Despite the format, Kyōya knows it wasn't really a question. "Yes. You have eyes, don't you?" he dismisses. Honestly, his falcon isn't that much of a shock, is it? He knows for a fact he flies around Namimori regularly, and there are no hunters in his town that would dare shoot down any of the birds.

He can be such a sweetheart when people aren't directly involved! Example: He likes little animals. He seems to treat them very kindly too!

a japanese fan shared an old piece of info !! Hibari-san apparently, not only received a large amount of valentine chocolate in his locker, also brought them home !

So we can draw some conclusions:

- He’s popular despite his personality (or it could be from the disciplinary committee members)

- His fans know he prob doesn’t like receiving them directly, but Hibari actually doesn’t mind with people, or so-called herbivores, mounting his locker

- HIBARI HAS LOCKER LIKE ANY OTHER STUDENT TOO (i thought he lived there & didn’t attend classes so he didn’t need one //slapped)

- He checked on his locker

- He’s in a way, noticed about valentine day

- Instead of disposing those, he took them home! I mean you know the cliche where the chocolates burst through the locker, but Hibari picks those up & bringing them home! (It was written in Japanese there, he “collects” & “brings” them home)

Daily Hibari is something should have been showed more rather than just him as battle maniac

It was a well-known fact that every dog needs a doghouse, especially if they are a talking dog who can draw pictures in the dirt with a stick. Kyoya’s not sure why the talking baby is so confused about this. Kyoya has a dog, dogs need doghouses, this dog also happened to draw out the plans for his doghouse in the dirt with a stick he found in the back garden.

“Kyo-er,” the baby says, slowly, his hands pressed flat together and pressed against his mouth, “dogs can’t talk…? Or plan out their own doghouses…?”

Kyoya and his puppy, Snoopy as the puppy had chosen to be called, look at each other. Then they both look back at the baby. Who is also talking. And claims to be Kyoya’s older brother.

The baby seems to take the hint and sighs. He pinched the bridge of his nose and mutters something about Kyoya’s mother killing him.

“Kaa-san won’t even notice, baby,” Kyoya says, rolling his eyes. “Snoopy’s already promised to stay out of the house when she’s in, and to wipe his feet before entering anyway.”

Snoopy nods his head, wagging his little black puppy tail. Not like I want to stay in the house anyway. The garden’s much more interesting.

Kyoya nods seriously and gestures towards Snoopy as if to say, ‘See? There you have it.’

The baby’s distress visibly increases at the exchange. However, instead of contributing anything relevant to the conversation or allowing Kyoya to continue about his business, the baby says, “Why does the dog have a name, but you insist on referring to me as ‘the baby’, Kyo-er? I have a name.”

Fine, if the stupid talking baby insists. “Kaa-san won’t even notice, Fon-tan.” Kyoya rolls his eyes as Fon squawks in protest of the honorific, but really fair is fair. He keeps calling Kyoya ‘Kyo-er’ even though Kyoya is clearly older than him and it’s rude and insulting to be referred to as such by a baby.

Kyoya leaves the baby to his squawking, and Snoopy trots along at his heels. Together they start hashing out where Snoopy’s doghouse could go without disturbing the fengshui of the garden that Kaa-san has so carefully cultivated.

Fon’s not entirely sure how he ended up in the paint aisle of Namimori’s hardware store, helping his surprise baby brother and his puppy pick out paint for the puppy’s doghouse. One minute he’s doing his annual reunion with his father, and the next, he has a new stepmother and half-brother, and his father tragically deceased, leaving him in charge of said half-brother while his stepmother makes funeral arrangements.

‘I need to have an heir, you know this, Feng-er’ his ass. That argument may have worked when Fon was recently cursed, but not thirty fucking years down the line! He’s old enough to be his stepmother’s father for goodness’ sake!

“Which color do you want?” Kyoya asks, carrying the puppy down the paint aisle and carefully pausing in front of each paint slip so the puppy can see them all. It’s cute. It’d be cuter if Kyoya wasn’t so insistent that the puppy could talk.

“What about this one, Kyo-er?” Fon asks. He pulls out an ocean blue paint slip and shows it to the boy, who frowns dubiously at it.

The boy and puppy look at each other, and they look to have a silent conversation with each other for a moment. Then Kyoya stands perfectly straight and says, “No thank you, Fon-tan. Snoopy doesn’t like that one, but thank you for your help.”

Well that was Fon told. He puts the paint slip back and continues following Kyoya’s path down the paint aisle. At least he can tell Kyoya’s mother that he tried to get him to choose a nice, cool, calming color to match her garden when she ultimately discovers the new doghouse in said garden.

The puppy suddenly barks, tongue lolling out of its mouth and tail wagging in excitement. It dances it’s front paws on Kyoya’s arm and turns to lick his cheek. A smile breaks Kyoya’s serious expression, and he nods. “That’s a good color, Snoopy,” he says so quietly that Fon almost misses it.

“What color did you pick?” Fon asks, resisting the urge to stretch up onto his tip-toes to see.

Kyoya turns and holds up a paint slip. A very red paint slip that decidedly does not match his mother’s carefully curated garden.

Fon should probably look into making a will.

“Kyo-er… are you sure?”

Kyoya hums. “Snoopy says it’s his favorite color,” he says with a sharp nod. Then he turns and marches over to the counter to get his paint mixed.

Fon is left in the paint aisle, mouth agape, staring after the boy. “He can’t even see it though…?”

There’s no way Kyoya heard Fon’s half-whispered question from across the aisle, but both the puppy and he glare at him anyway. Truly a matched set those two. He sighs and counts to ten as he walks over to join them.

Kyoya is not getting anything from him if his mother kills Fon because of Kyoya’s puppy.

Snoopy watches the Emo-Haired Kid build his new doghouse, tail thumping against the mossy stone he’s sitting on. The Bell-Collared Baby passes the kid nails and hovers like he’s concerned that the kid’s going to hurt himself. Like Snoopy isn’t right there supervising.

The doghouse is coming together marvelously in Snoopy’s opinion. The walls are up in a rectangular shape with a semi-circle door leading to the inside, which he plans on decorating with the fluffy pillow he pulled off of the Emo-Haired Kid’s bed and his new yellow, bird-shaped squeaky toy. All that’s left to do is put the roof on- which the kid’s working on now- and paint it that familiar shade of red.

He doesn’t know what the Bell-Collared Baby was complaining about. It’ll perfectly match the rose bushes around the doghouse when they’re in bloom.

“Kaa-san planted white roses, not red, Snoopy,” the Emo-Haired Kid says as he straightens the next piece of wood in place.

Red and white go together. That’s how you get pink after all.

The Emo-Haired Kid pauses, head tilting to the side as he considers this argument. Then he hums and nods before starting to hammering the roof piece down.

Snoopy still can’t quite get over the fact the Emo-Haired Kid can understand him. The Round-Headed Kid never could, which allowed for endless fun in mocking him without his knowledge and also endless frustration as Snoopy had to result to charades to get his point across. Even then, the Round-Headed Kid missed the point most of the time.

Of course, the Bell-Collared Baby’s continued and increasing concern over hearing only one side of the conversation is hilarious in its own right. Snoopy had missed tormenting people like this in his old age when all he had the energy for was lying in front of the fire and leaning into the Round-Headed Kid’s ear scratches.

He takes the opportunity to stretch out like he hasn’t been able to in years, all through the tips of his ears and the ends of each paw. It feels amazing! He refuses to ever get used to it again!

His ears perk up at the sound of the back door sliding open and the soft sound of slippered feet walking over the wooden veranda. He turns to face this new person- surely the ‘Kaa-san’ the Emo-Haired Kid has been referring to- and sits, tail wagging and tongue lolling out of a puppy grin. I’m cute, and you’re going to love me.

The woman stares at him. The Emo-Haired Kid continues hammering the roof onto his doghouse. “Fon-san,” the woman says, slowly. “What is this?”

“A puppy, Kaa-san,” the Emo-Haired Kid says in his ‘this is an obvious observation and I’m confused on why we’re addressing it’ voice. “My puppy. Fon-tan has been helping me building a doghouse for him.”

“Has he now?” the woman tilts her head and looks towards the Bell-Collared Baby with a sharp, toothy smile.

Snoopy shrinks back and decides to tactically retreat behind the Emo-Haired Kid, leaving the Bell-Collared Baby at the mercy of this dangerous woman. The Bell-Collared Baby gives him a look of complete betrayal before he turns to try and placate the woman.

The Emo-Haired Kid pauses his hammering to scratch Snoopy behind the ears as the woman pulls the Bell-Collared Baby off to the side and starts berating him. “Kaa-san won’t say no,” the Emo-Haired Kid whispers. “She’ll want to make me feel better about Tou-san’s death. I don’t care about that though. Tou-san always wanted me quiet and out of the way, especially when he was doing business.”

I have no idea why, you can build doghouses afterall. What more could he want? Snoopy licks the Emo-Haired Kid’s hand and thumps his tail a few more times for good measure.

The Emo-Haired Kid laughs and returns to his hammering. Snoopy settles down by his feet and watches the woman and the Bell-Collared Baby.

“You let him do what to my garden?! Fon-san, what were you thinking?”

Canonically, Tsunayoshi has a habit of having cute little thoughts about the girls when he first meets them, I like thinking it would be the same for Kurumi, his first thoughts were 'oh! she's really pretty...' to which he immediately starts feeling bad about cause Kyoko is his one true love (not anymore Tsunayoshi lol )

Kurumi is one of the only few girls Tsunayoshi truly felt comfortable being around, you know...until he stares at her for too long and ...and she sparkles???????

When Tsunayoshi's affection for her grows, the more he gets awkward, they might have gotten along with each other no problem, but the moment he realized that crush is real, suddenly he can't talk straight and he starts acting real funky.

They were friends first before 'crushes' , but before he even realized he had a thing for her, he was already having dreams about her. They got married and Kana shot him by the pew, he woke up screaming.

He leaned to cook purely as a survival skill.

HIBAKANA, they scratch my toxic relationship desires.

It was on sight... love at first sight? but like for fighting? I have this mental image Kyoya came FLYING outta nowhere the moment Kana stepped into Namimori chu.

Kyoya says he hates / dislikes Kanako, but for some reason, he's more likely to sit / stand and linger beside her more than anyone else in the group, this may lead into another fight tho.

As an adult, Kyoya has a habit of tracking down where Kanako is, not that he follows her around, but he'd just like to know where she is. As a result, Kusakabe also knows where she is...Kanako has to erase her presence completely if she wants Kyoya to stop tailing her. He's obsessive so what.

Kanako can ask Kyoya 'favors' and Kanako can actually get away with a lot of things as well. What can I say? Kyoya respect the strong and only the strong, she still pisses him off though.

I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THIS ONE: If they somehow get married, they wont take each other's last name nor will they get absorb to each other's family, however Kanako may use whatever properties under Kyoya's / Hibari's name.

Jojoooo! Thank you so much for asking! I'm going for the closest-to-canon approach to answer this. With so many questions, I tried to be brief (and failed, oops). So beware, long post ahead!

I. PRE-RELATIONSHIP

01. How did they first meet?

Since we already know how Dino and Hibari met, I'm skipping that one.

Hibari and Rio.

They’d come across each other a few times as kids, but never met properly until the first day of middle school. Rio was wandering the corridors after another argument with Takeshi about the joining the baseball club, unaware that she was breaking one of the many rules she hadn’t read yet. Hibari called her out as soon as he saw it. He approached her, tonfa in hand, but lowered it down when she didn’t flinch at all and only smiled at him.

“This is your first and only warning, first year.”

In no time, she realized how lucky she was. Hibari never meant the first warning was only for her, but for all the first years, and he bit to death the next student he caught behaving against his rules.

Dino and Rio.

If you asked Rio, she would say they met the day Dino first arrived in Japan to meet Tsuna, and he would agree with a slightly awkward smile. Just a small detail he's hiding behind it. To be honest, he has no clear recollection of her at that moment, neither during the dinner at Tsuna's place with everyone else, only of a fleeting presence passing by.

02. What was their first impression of each other?

03. Who felt romantic feelings first?

Even if it took time to realize it was love, Rio was the first one. No, I'm not talking about her middle school crush on Hibari. I could, but it lacked something to be called love.

Love is different: it's sweet when it's reciprocated; but bitter when you find yourself thinking that maybe you're not so happy about your best friend dating Dino, or secretly wishing things won't work between them because you want him to smile at you like before.

What a disgusting friend you are, Rio!

04. Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

Dino wasn't someone who resisted feelings, but explored them when he had the rare possibility to do so. For him, love was never at first sight, but something built over shared time. Dino needed the assurance that his future partner shared his values and looked forward to the same future as him. Therefore, if he saw a mutual interest between someone and him, and the situation allowed it, he always agreed to explore what a relationship with that person could be like and if it would work in the future.

Commitment was what dissuaded Rio from making a move. Just how many times did she try to ignore her feelings when he could name them! First, she couldn't get in the way of Dino and Stella's relationship, and later, seeing Hibari again with the same yet different admiration she felt for him in middle school meant betraying Dino. She just couldn’t!

Fueled by jealousy, Hibari broke into violent outbursts more than once. Fighting was the only way for him to calm down when he couldn’t identify the reason he felt like boiling when he saw Rio and Dino. Yet, when he did, he decided that nothing could stop him, he was free to do as he pleased and take what he wanted.

05. What would their lives be like if they had never met?

Dino tried and tried, waited and waited, as much as he could, to find the one for him. Deep in his heart, he was always a romantic, he also had a duty as a mafia boss and practicality came first. Time ran out. He married the woman he was dating at the moment and had the kids he always wanted. Everything was as it was expected. No more, no less.

Hibari ruled over his territory with an iron hand, no human warmth by his side, only the admiration of the men who followed him since the Disciplinary Committee in Middle School. Yet, he would look at them with disappointment whenever one of them started a relationship or got married. Those chains only kept them from devoting themselves to the protection of order. All of them were failures. Only he remained.

Rio never let go of Takeshi’s hand. No, I lied, she did. She went to a different middle school, hopeful yet heartbroken. The sudden cut of the thread that tied them together didn't have good consequences for any of them. Did they make up? Eventually. Was everything back to the way it was before? Not at all. She never got involved in whatever Takeshi was doing with his new friends, and dedicated herself to the restaurant. It was what she always wanted, wasn't it?

06. What was their "flirting stage" like?

Dino and Rio’s flirting stage was mostly pushed by Reborn, a series of apparently coincidental events orchestrated to throw one into the arms of the other. He knew confidential information he got by being the first one to travel to the future, and saw the political benefits of that union. Why not make it happen in this timeline too? His former student needs someone able to deal with the most pathetic side of him. And it worked, because the moment they're both available, they willingly sought for the other.

The subtle way in which Hibari can be considered to be flirting is him allowing someone to access more personal spheres of his life. To enter his base without waiting for authorization or without previous notice, sometimes even called by him, a cup of tea waiting on the table, birds fluttering in the garden.

Dino had to pay the price with a fight, adrenaline and tension rising with each encounter, that eventually found its way to be released.

Rio had to offer her calmness in exchange, accept the fate that she wouldn't be moving for as long as Namimori’s fiercest predator wanted to rest his head on her lap.

07. How do their friends and family feel about them as a couple?

As far as most of them know, only Dino and Rio are officially a couple, and they're happy for them, except for Tsuyoshi (and Hana at the very beginning).

He and his “western things are banned in this house” attitude can't accept that Rio is happy with that filthy Italian. He often manifests out loud how he prefers Hibari for his daughter, a strong, traditional Japanese man who'll forever live in Namimori. Little he knows… or is he faking ignorance?

Discovering by accident that Hibari is involved naturally caused the alarms to go off among the group. The Vongola-Cavallone alliance could be in danger for this! Only Takeshi, Romario and Kusakabe knew from the beginning, while the rest, particularly Tsuna and Ryohei, went through a panic phase at the thought of Rio cheating on Dino.

Hello and welcome to Day 11 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"

Today I wanna talk about a plot bunny that has been on and off inside my brain and that, currently, has been going nuts ever since I explained the MDZS Magic Kaito AU.

The fandom for this plot bunny is not one I have spoken about on my blog yet - Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

More precisely, I have this as a Kakeyo Hitman Reborn (Detective Conan AU).

Working title: (A Mafia Boss?) No, I am a detective.

The idea starts with a change brought by the sealing of Tsunayoshi's Sky Flames.

Basically, instead of stunting his growth and clouding his mind (and you can't tell me those symptoms weren't at least halfway caused by the seal), Tsuna's seal acts a bit... weird. Weird as in, Tsuna ends up with "Kudo Shinichi Levels of Luck in Finding Dead Bodies."

Because of this, not only is Tsuna constantly encountering criminals (big or small), but also he is pretty much adopted by the police department of Japan. Yes, all of it. (Don't ask him how he ended up with more uncles and aunts than there are kids in his class.)

Tsuna, since he is pretty much followed by death everywhere besides his home and Namimori School (where Tsuna doubts even Gods would try to start shit because Hibari Kyoya is scary as fuck), ends up gaining an interest towards the law and towards the work of a detective. Hibari Kyoya, whose family is part of the police force, definitely approves.

In fact, he approves so much that he is giving lessons in self-defence (read: beating up) to Tsuna from a young age. All Kyoya has to say is that the "sky omnivore" is promising.

As the years go on, Tsuna ends up with a rag-tag team of kids that help him (read: get themselves involved) in solving murders/kidnappings. Tsuna even has a phantom thief that he faces every other week against. (I DO want to make that phantom thief be Kaito KID just because he is definitely a Mist Flame with Lightning secondary and Cloud Tendencies.)

The end result is that when Reborn comes to tutor Tsuna for the position of Vongola Heir, Tsuna has already (mostly unknowingly) gathered a separate set of Guardians on his own; is already trained by Hibari Kyoya in hand to hand combat and trained in armed combat by the police and, most importantly, IS part of the police force... and is vehemently against taking the position of Vongola Heir.

(Reborn is really going to kill Iemitsu for his blatant disregard towards his family's daily affairs. The idiot COULD'VE stopped his own child from joining the police force if he cared enough.)

Things to note:

Tsuna can still get his canon Guardians in this, but the way and the order in which he gets them will be different.

Hibari Kyoya is still scary as all hell in every universe, this one included. He is just more Alaudi (or was it Alaude?) coded than before cause handcuffs are more prominent in detective/police work.

Byakuran is probably gonna start laughing like crazy for about half an hour when he learns Tsuna is with the police force. Why? Because the irony of World's Best Mafia Boss (in other universes) being a detective and member of the police force in this universe is killing him.

Let Tsunayoshi have friends. Like seriously. Let him make friends through this profession/curse of his. (Whether the friends he makes OUTSIDE of Japan are part of the Mafia or not is another story)

Iemistu fucked up by not being around his family more. Now, he is definitely paying the price... Reborn wants to take his kneecaps as compensation for the bullshit he has to deal with now.

Honestly, I have soo many ways through which the seal could affect Tsuna and make him go a different path in life. But the Mafia still catches up to him. At least in this AU, Mukuro should be more... chill towards Tsuna cause he makes it clear he is part of the police - which isn't that much better in retrospect, but at least Tsuna is not ,nor does he want to become a Mafia Boss. Also, Tsuna probably has memorized all laws of Japan but mathematics still give him a headache (mostly because of his teacher).
