thinking about the 'load-bearing event' post and how nearly the entire post-1990s Bat mythos rests on No Man's Land happening, and it getting punted out of canon when the reboot happened irreparably fucked over both the "Batfamily" as a concept and multiple character dynamics until Death Metal/Infinite Frontier re-canonized it last year

And look, I’m not including Jason on this particular list because he shouldn’t have to kill the guys who murdered him himself, and PTSD might make that difficult. Who knows.

The point is that there’s plenty of people. Gotham’s full of crime, right? I’m sure there’s plenty of guns floating around. Plenty of people with motive. Plenty of people with skill even.

So why the #!*% is the Joker still alive?

At this point, canon is just another fanfic to me. And by god, I’ve seen ones that were better written.

I adored the new chapter I get the feeling that Dick fully approves of Danny as Jason's boyfriend. Like Saving Jason from a second death and helping him adjust to the powers that came with his revival gave him major brownie points in Dick's eyes. But being generally a good person and having a similar sense of humor to himself means that Dick will skip the shovel talk and get to teasing Jason about his crush.

I literally can't wait for Dick to see Jason in Ghost mode. I get the feeling that Dick even though Jason hasn't told him his new name yet is going to recognize him immediately. I get the feeling that the magical rings of transformation that halfa's have are both going to be a great source of teasing and Evny. Teasing because doesn't the phrase magical girl transformation sequence ring any bells? Envy because Jason can now go from civilian to hero in less than the second.

Dick definitely approves of Danny as boyfriend material for Jason. Yeah he kinda chewed him out, but that just means he'll protect Jason. And Dick gets a brother in law who will indulge him in a pun off so Dick can't really lose here. I can't wait for Dick to show up again, he's already a favorite of mine to write and I didn't expect that at all. I'm actually going to have a minor new subplot added to the story where we deal with some stuff that apparently was happening to Dick around the time Jason came back (someone unfortunately informed me of Canon events. I asked for it. I just didn't expect them to be so awful, the events not the person)

Dick, meeting Phantom and Red Hood for the first time: my brother senses are tingling

Dick will have so much new material to tease Jason with. He'll just start playing random magical girl show openers everytime he sees him. Even in costume. The goons are really confused because now they're getting beat up while the Sailor Moon intro plays in the background and WHY DOES IT FIT?!

Generally, I feel like a lot of the controversy I see pop up about Wayne Family Adventures is due to mismatched fan expectations of how people want the comic to engage with and address canon vs. how WFA can/will do so within the limitations of its premise and format.

I think fans would be a lot happier with WFA if they accepted the limitations it inherently has to deal with as an all-ages slice-of-life Elseworlds comic whose premise is exploring the Batfam's interpersonal dynamics within the context of a family setting and realized that it's never going to have or deal with an exact and accurate reflection of canon conflicts, just like Tiny Titans and Li'l Gotham before it didn't.

Whether I agree or like how WFA is handling its source material, stuff is going to get simplified, sidestepped, worked around, and altered from comics canon to work within the "softer world" and AU setting WFA occupies. I don't really think it's worth getting mad at the fact that it's doing so instead of matching and addressing exact canon conflicts, just like it's not worth geting mad at Li'l Gotham for dramatically simplifying and/or altering various events and relationships for the sake of hitting its target demographic.
