If Katsuki was using his quirk to burn up Izuku in middle school, 100% other kids at Aldera tried to do something similar with their quirks. It's not like the teachers cared, right?
But Katsuki did. Katsuki cared a lot.
He's got dibs, you got that, extras? No one gets to fucking touch that useless nerd but him.
/
Kacchan's amazing!
He has to be. He has to be.
Or else Izuku picked the wrong poison.

DYFGFVJJ- GLAD YOU LIKED IT-
But yes I 100% agree.
Maybe it's my delusion, but I can't imagine Izuku would continue to admire Kacchan solely based on their friendship as kids. At least, not nearly to the extent he does.
I've said it before, I don't mean to downplay Izuku's experience in middle school. Even if the way I'm picturing those years, which is probably lighter than it may have been (if a bit confusing for both of them), then I still wouldn't blame him for hating Kacchan.
But he doesn't.
And that is a VERY important distinction to make.
Izuku doesn't admire Kacchan in spite of who he is and what he's done, Izuku admires him because he understands him; And Katsuki does in turn, even if he wasn't ready to admit that.
Katsuki's redemption is so amazing through the manga because we mostly get to watch the development behind Izuku's eyes, it's very compelling. There's just so much trust that Izuku puts into Kacchan's hands, even from the very beginning, and he's so fearless to openly admit "Kacchan's amazing!" so frequently. I don't think he would've been able to do that, unless he had gray moments like these (in the picture above) to reassure himself that their connection wasn't permanently lost... It just needed time.
So yes, I do think a scene EXACTLY LIKE THIS is very possible. Their relationship is super complex, it's more fun like that!

My hero academia boys asking you out pt 1
warnings/tags: cliffhanger, more fanon way of acting than canon ngl, i dont think there's other warnings other than that- feel free to dm me if you notice a common warning that could affect someone
characters: katsuki bakugo, izuku midoriya, shoto todoroki, tenya ida, Eijiro kirishima, denki kamanari
🔥 Katsuki Bakugou 🔥
Bakugo seemed more agitated than usual. He kept glancing in my direction, his eyes burning with an intensity that made my heart race. I tried to ignore it, focusing on the lesson, but it was like trying to ignore a blazing inferno in the middle of a snowstorm.
When the bell finally rang, I gathered my things and started to head out, hoping to make a quick escape before he could confront me. But as soon as I stepped into the hallway, I felt a firm hand on my shoulder. I turned around to find Bakugo standing there, his expression unreadable.
“Y/N, we need to talk,” he said, his voice gruff but lacking its usual edge.
“Uh, sure. What’s up?” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the rapid beating of my heart.
He led me to a more secluded part of the school, away from prying eyes and ears. I could feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating. He turned to face me, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that made my knees weak.
“Look, I’m not good with this kind of stuff,” he began, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “But I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. More than I probably should.”
My breath caught in my throat. Was he really saying what I thought he was saying? I tried to keep my face neutral, but I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
“I like you, Y/N,” he said bluntly, his eyes never leaving mine. “I don’t do things halfway, and I’m not gonna start now. So, what do you say? Will you go out with me?”...
💚 Izuku Midoriya 💚
The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm orange glow over the UA High School grounds. It had been a long day of training, and I was ready to head back to the dorms when I heard a familiar voice call my name.
"Y/N, wait up!"
I turned around to see Izuku Midoriya, his messy green hair slightly tousled and his cheeks flushed from running. He caught up to me, panting a little but with that determined look in his eyes that I'd come to admire so much.
"Hey, Midoriya," I greeted him with a smile. "What's up?"
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "There's something I need to talk to you about. Do you have a minute?"
"Sure," I replied, curious about what had him so worked up.
We walked over to a bench near the training field and sat down. Izuku seemed nervous, fidgeting with his hands and avoiding eye contact. I waited patiently, giving him the time he needed to gather his thoughts.
"Y/N, we've been friends for a while now, right?" he began, finally looking at me. His green eyes were filled with sincerity and a hint of something else—something that made my heart skip a beat.
"Yeah, we have," I agreed, my curiosity growing.
"I-I really admire you," he stammered, his cheeks turning a deeper shade of red. "You're strong, kind, and always know how to make people smile. Being around you makes me want to be a better hero."
I felt a warm blush creep up my own cheeks at his words. "Thank you, Midoriya. That means a lot to me."
He took another deep breath, clearly trying to muster his courage. "What I'm trying to say is... I like you, Y/N. A lot. And I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me sometime?"...
🧊 shoto todoroki 🔥
I glanced across the bustling courtyard of U.A. High School, my heart doing a little flip when my eyes landed on Shoto Todoroki. His dual-colored hair was unmistakable, a vibrant mix of crimson and white, just like his enigmatic personality. I always found him intriguing, a blend of ice and fire, both literally and figuratively.
Today, he seemed different. He was standing a bit straighter, his eyes scanning the crowd as if he was searching for something—or someone. My pulse quickened as his gaze locked onto mine. For a moment, I considered looking away, but curiosity and something deeper held my attention.
"Y/N," he called out, his voice carrying over the chatter of our classmates. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as he approached me. Todoroki was known for his calm and stoic demeanor, so seeing him a bit unsettled was surprising.
"Hey, Todoroki," I greeted, trying to sound casual despite the rapid beating of my heart. "What's up?"
He stood in front of me, his mismatched eyes intense and focused. "Can we talk?" he asked, his voice steady but with an undercurrent of emotion that made me wonder what was going on.
"Of course," I replied, nodding. "What's on your mind?"
Todoroki took a deep breath, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. "I've been meaning to tell you something," he began, his gaze unwavering. "I've realized that I have feelings for you, Y/N. And I was wondering if you would go out with me."
🗣️ tenya Iida 👔
I had always admired Tenya Iida from afar. His dedication, his sense of justice, and his unwavering commitment to his classmates were qualities I deeply respected. But today, something was different. I noticed him glancing my way more often than usual, and there was a nervous energy about him that I hadn't seen before.
The school day passed in a blur, my mind preoccupied with thoughts of Tenya. Finally, after our last class, I headed towards my locker, only to find him standing there, waiting for me. His usually stern face softened as our eyes met.
"Y/N," he began, his voice uncharacteristically shaky. "Could I speak with you for a moment?"
"Of course, Tenya," I replied, trying to keep my own nerves in check. "What's up?"
He took a deep breath, his eyes searching mine for a moment before he continued. "I've been meaning to tell you something for a while now. I admire your strength, your kindness, and your dedication. You inspire me in ways I can't quite put into words."
I felt my cheeks heat up at his unexpected praise, but I nodded for him to continue.
"I... I have feelings for you, Y/N," he confessed, his voice steadying as he spoke. "And I was wondering if you would do me the honor of going out with me."
🗿 Eijiro Kirishima 🗿
It was a bright and sunny afternoon, the kind that made everything feel a little bit more hopeful. The UA High School campus was bustling with students, everyone going about their business, but my mind was focused on something—or rather, someone—else entirely. Eijiro Kirishima.
I had known Kirishima since we started at UA, and over time, my admiration for him grew into something deeper. His unwavering spirit, his kindness, and his infectious smile had a way of making my heart race. Today, though, something seemed different about him. There was a nervous energy in his usually confident demeanor.
We were in the courtyard, taking a break from training. Kirishima approached me with that wide, toothy grin of his, but there was a hint of something more in his eyes.
"Hey, Y/N," he began, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "Can we talk for a sec?"
"Sure, what's up?" I replied, trying to keep my own nerves in check.
He led me to a quieter spot under one of the large oak trees that dotted the campus. The shade provided a nice respite from the sun, but it didn't do much to calm the fluttering in my chest.
Kirishima took a deep breath, his eyes locking onto mine with a seriousness I rarely saw in him. "Y/N, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, and I just... I need to tell you something."
I felt my heart skip a beat. Was this really happening?
"I really like you," he confessed, his cheeks turning a shade of pink that rivaled his hair. "Like, a lot. You're amazing, and I've been wanting to tell you for a long time, but I didn't know how. I guess what I'm trying to say is... Would you go out with me?"
⚡️ denki kamanari ⚡️
I had just finished my last class of the day, my mind still buzzing with the day’s lessons. As I walked down the hallway, I saw Denki Kaminari leaning casually against a locker, his usual grin plastered across his face. He saw me and straightened up, a spark of nervous energy in his eyes that I hadn't seen before.
“Hey, Y/N!” he called out, waving enthusiastically. I couldn’t help but smile back. Denki had always been a ball of energy, lighting up any room he entered.
“Hey, Denki! What’s up?” I asked as I approached him.
He rubbed the back of his neck, a sure sign that he was nervous. “So, um, I was wondering if you have any plans this weekend?”
I tilted my head, curious. “Not really. Why do you ask?”
His cheeks flushed slightly, and he took a deep breath. “Well, I was thinking... maybe we could go out sometime? Like, on a date?”

I need Bakugou stans to realise that it's not that I hate him as a person. It's that I hate him as a character.
A lot of my favourite characters are unrepentant assholes, or assholes who are set to or have already been redeemed. Vegeta from DBZ, Ouma Kokichi from DGR: V3, Dio from JoJo, Laxus from Fairy Tail, Greed from FMA: B, Bill from Gravity Falls, and the list that goes on.
If a character is a terrible person, that's fine by me. But if the author tries and fails to redeem them, yet still acts as though they are suddenly this amazing person, that's when I have an issue with it.
Bakugou was originally written to be a minor antagonist, and that would have been fine, if Horikoshi didn't suddenly go "I drew him crying so imma fix him".
Redemption is such a complex yet simple thing to do. So when you try to do it and fail spectacularly, um, yeah, I do not enjoy that character or your writing.
That is my main issue with Bakugou. I do not think he deserved any redemption, not because he's a bad person, but because there is nothing to convince me that he could change.
He gets one scene where he goes, "boohoo I lost and everyone is stronger than me" then cries, and that's supposed to be enough for him to become a better person? That is nowhere near enough.
There was no moment that made me believe he genuinely regretted and took accountability for the abuse he put Izuku through in middle school.
"He changed!" That's not my issue. I don't care that he's changed. I care that I don't believe in it. If there was a plausible reason as to why he changed, then I would be fine with it. Maybe I'd even enjoy him!
The fact that he's changed doesn't mean shit if it's not believable.
"That was in middle school!" Okay. This one pisses me off the most. That was a year pre-canon? Oh, wow, I guess that's completely fine! It's not as if characters are the way they are based on their past. Oh, Itachi killed the Uchiha clan before canon! Okay, maybe comparing a massacre to bullying is a bit unfair. Still, just because it happened a year ago, it doesn't mean it never happened. It doesn't mean that he's changed considerably.
"Izuku doesn't have any lasting damage and forgave him!" And? Just because your friend forgives their bully, it doesn't mean you have to forgive them. And, again, I do not believe Bakugou's apology was good in anyway. He was trash-talking Izuku, blaming All Might for Izuku's behaviour, and didn't accept any culpability for what he did to him. He didn't tell anyone else what he did to Izuku. Also, if Izuku really didn't have any lasting damage from the bullying, then why did Bakugou's apology make him calm down? If he didn't care about the bullying, then why is he so relieved by the apology? BECAUSE HE WAS AFFECTED.
"Bakugou was being abused!" ... NO HE WASN'T!! Mitsuki is not abusive. Yes, she hit him round the back of his head. After he threatened her. Anyone with Asian parents can tell you that her hit does not hurt. Not only is it somewhat normal in Asian families, but it also doesn't hurt. We have no evidence that she is abusive. Horikoshi knows how to set up abusive families, as seen with the Todorokis. This not that. Either way, even if she was, being abused doesn't mean it's okay to abuse others. You can hurt without hurting others.
"It's the school and teacher's fault!" No, it's not. Part of the fault lies with them enabling him, but Bakugou is already fifteen when the series starts. His mother clearly doesn't agree with his attitude. The school is only partially to blame. Bakugou should have learned by himself what is right and what is not. In fact, he clearly does know considering he doesn't want any of that stuff on his records in case U.A. rejects him.
Again. I don't care if he's a terrible person. I care that he's a terrible character.
So the next time someone says that I'm stuck in Season One, take a moment and think about what you're saying. Bad people in fiction are entertaining. Bad characters are not.

Thoughts on Bakugou’s Arc:
I maintain that his entire character arc should have been:
A) Some people shouldn’t be heroes. I think it would have been interesting to explore the idea of someone just not being able to be a hero because of their attitude. My more recent Drabble discussing the idea of some conditions automatically denying someone a place in the hero course comes to mind. But also- some people just do not have the right aptitude. And the idea of exploring Bakugou as a character who is so focused on the societal view of heroics (fighting and being the best) he fails at every other aspect leading to his removal from the hero course? That’s attractive as hell as a concept. It also drives home the theme of ‘society has commodified heroics and not has become an entire popularity game’ if we follow this idea. Because we get told he is ‘perfect’ for heroics with his Quirk. We watch as he struts about with his head in the air- and bang! He shows he isn’t right for heroics. UA is the best of the best. We know top heroes come from it. Is it that weird that maybe a kid who isn’t right for heroics just washes right out?
Plus this is also a way for Izuku himself to realize he is a good hero. His bully, the guy held up above all else, had failed where he succeeded. Izuku gets to be raised up and realize he has heroic potential, a true ‘hey Quirks don’t matter’ moment. Because OFA is useful but Izuku has always been heroic.
B) Ego is the downfall of man/Average fish from a small pond moves to a big lake. Bakugou is forced to realize he isn’t the best of the best. This would have been so nice to see. Bakugou’s entire character was/is built on being the best. Izuku looks up to him in canon because he was the best- in their shitty middle school Bakugou chose to have the ‘perfect’ hero story. (It’s canon it’s a third rate school. It means that for someone who is dedicated to studying/working out as Bakugou is canonly it’s not HARD to be at the top) So when they go to U.A… Bakugou is suddenly scrambling to keep up. And at first he doesn’t notice. He’s fine. Then he begins getting his ass kicked. Because working out enough to be at the top at a third rank school? Easy. Working hard enough to compete with people training to be heroes since they were kids? Harder. Even more so since his Quirk isn’t actually as versatile as others. Explosions pale in comparison to Creation or Half Hot-Half Cold. Even Engine is more versatile then explosions from his hands. Animal Voice, Pop Off- all these have more use then his. (sure he can fly but his only skill is in fighting which isn’t everything about heroics)
Bakugou tries to comfort himself with the idea at least he is the best in school but… well, again- average fish in a small pond. He finds himself struggling. The topics are more advanced then he’s used to, suddenly he is expected to follow an incredibly fast paced curriculum (because UA hero course focuses more on heroics, it makes sense the classes are fast paced to focus on heroics) and he can’t. He isn’t used to it, his way of studying fails him.
Bakugou finds himself in the bottom fourth of the class with no idea how he ended up there. And he’s angry. Unfortunately for him, his attitude isn’t doing him favours. He is told to sit down, to knock it off, stop yelling and blaming others. So when he fails his final exam for hitting Izuku (because he should have and I will die on that hill) he is so desperate to prove he is the best. So he goes out, ignoring orders to stay put, during the camp and…
He gets expelled/killed.
This would have been so cool to see. Just the idea of Bakugou being shown again as a way society fails people by propping them up for their Quirk even if they don’t deserve it. So good.
C) He learns that he doesn’t need to be the best. In a world where his redemption actually is one, I would love to have seen him perfectly content with being a mid ranked hero as long as he was saving people. This would feel so good to see, that he has realized that power isn’t everything, that being the best isn’t all that. Just Bakugou being ranked like 500, working at being the best hero he can but not participating in the rankings because he knows it’s garbage and he doesn’t need it.
That feels like so much more of a natural progression of his character. He starts as an asshole who is only in it for himself, to be the best. He wants to be number one. But he actually realizes to be a hero it’s not about that.
I think that would have been perfect. It’s showing that the hero system is busted and your rank shouldn’t matter. It’s showing actual change in Bakugou as a character as he works through his shit. He doesn’t need to be the best- he’s happy just being a hero.
Instead we got ‘oh yeah Bakugou is a top hero and doesn’t change at all’.
Freaking boring.

things I thought were canon in mha but are probably just things the fandom made up that are so deeply ingrained in fanmedia, coming from someone who only joined the fandom a few months ago (correct me if im wrong)
(also not caught up on s7)
- literally any ships (rip, i know, but guys, no student relationships are canon as of rn)
- eijirou and mina went to middle school together
- denki probably has (absence) seizures due to overusing his quirk/bc storms
- red shoe theory (the quirkless have an extra toe joint and bc of that they need different shoes. unfortunately there's only one type, so doesn't matter if you're 5 or 80, you're stuck wearing bright red sneakers ://)
- erasermic. just the entirety of them being together. also includes erasermic fam. still rioting from when i found out erasermic is not canon >:((
- denki has adhd + dyslexia + dyscalculia (and probably a seizure disorder)
- hitoshi is in the foster system (and was probablg ab*sed bc of his quirk. includes mentions of muzzles and quirk suppressants)
- present mic was born with his quirk, deafening everyone in the room when he was born (includes mentions of muzzles)
- the bakugous (mitsuki and masaru) are either the best parents in the world (super attentive and caring) or suck and are probably ab*sive (quirk suppressants on katsuki any time he comes home, neglectful masaru, aggressive mitsuki)
- izuku is autistic (while not canon, i wouldnt be surprised, this is coming from someone with auDHD)
- denki's parents are both pro heroes (theres two pro's with electricity quirks. maybe?? maybe not?? we'll never know)
- endeavor is homophobic (i mean... im not saying he's not-)
- present mic was adopted by two moms
- eijirou has two moms (this one tho, so cute oml im screaming)
- the bakugous run a fashion empire (katsuki modeled for them before UA
- rooftop trio's full friend group included nemuri (a year ahead of them) and tensei (iida's brother)
- iida is autistic (ngl, if this aint the case im rioting)
- tsu never had a childhood, too busy parenting her siblings while her parents were at work or traveling
- back to the bakugous, they were too busy traveling to do photoshoots (mitsuki was the model and masaru designed clothes) to watch over katsuki, so he taught himself how to do everything (chores, keeping tbe house, cooking, etc)
- eijirou has depression/was su*c*dal in middleschool, the only thing keeping him from toppling was mina
- some mutation quirks are there at birth, others come in later. ex: toru (hagakure) was not born invisible, she turned invisible when out shopping with her mom (just imagine thinking "oh shit i just lost my kid at the store" and feeling something grab your leg with the voice of your kid but nothjngs there. wild, absolutely wild) just imagine this shit with the rest of our resideng mutation kids (whom i adore) koji, fumikage, mina, mezo, mashirao (would you consider hanta, kyoka, rikido, and mineta mutation quirk kids? bc i do)
- some kids come from all over the world (i like the idea of it, just how do they all know japanese then??) one i can remember rn were like denki is a 2nd gen japanese american, yuga we know is from france, hanta is latino (i adore this)
- mineta is great!! or mineta is a r*p*st (now, hes gotten better, i'll give you that, but hes still not great and i choose to hate him so im moving on-)
- the sports festival ceremony triggered a flashback for katsuki, making him feel like he was back with the sludge villian again
- izuku and katsuki co-wrote all might fanfiction and individually at one point had all might stan pages.
- fumikage, hitoshi, and kyoka rotate between the bakusquad and dekusquad
- the emosquad consists of fumikage, hitoshi, kyoka, mezo, katsuki, and shouto
- ochako has dad sneezes (loud asf and probably back to back) and katsuki has kitten sneezes (cute and singular) (no i will not explain further)
- while katsuki is loud and "angry" all of the time, you only really got to worry when he becomes deadly silent
- if you want tea on anyone, go to either mezo or kyoka. they know all
- shouto had many firsts after the dorms were implemented: first time trying ice cream, watching a movie, listening to music, trying certain foods, etc. bc endeavor either hated it, or didnt allow him access to it bc he thought it was a waste of time
- momo probably has an eating disorder, regardless of her quirk, due to her parents pressure as a high society family
- quirk related symptoms/damage. ex: katsuki's explosions causing low blood pressure and hearing loss. present mics causing hearing loss and chronic sore throats (maybe even repeat tonsilitis??). hitoshi getting migraines, insomnia, and nose bleeds from excessive quirk use.
- aizawa transfered to the hero course after winning the sports festival his first year at UA (i think it makes sense, what with him training hitoshi later)
(this is what i could think of rn, theres probably more, add on if you think of any)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rs: Pro! Katsuki Bakugou x Pro! GN Reader(afab)
Warnings: manga spoilers, ANGST, grief, slight panick attacks, MAJOR character death mention(not canon but is canon..), heart break
Tags: bittersweet, different circumstances, reader is kind of a crybaby but for good reasons, time/dimensional travel, reader is hopelessly in love with him + will hopelessly be stuck on him for the rest of their life, Katsuki is equally or more in love, reminiscing, everyone is in their early 30s
Summary: Being hit by a quirk is one thing. But to be sent to another universe is absolutely bewildering. It starts to become heart-wrenching when someone you once knew as dead is now alive in this alternate universe.
wc: 1.1k
Recommended song:
a/n: if you enjoy this work, check out the others in my Masterlist. :)
Tumblr media
Being hit with a quirk usually didn't phase you, it was rather common for you.
But to be sent to a whole other timeline- or rather... universe? You knew it was the same timeline but different universe. Why? Because Katsuki Bakugou was standing right in front of you- with another you holding his hand, both staring at you in surprise. In fact, it wasn't just them. But other old classmates from the high school you used to attend. Shocked faces as the other you ushers them out the room. You couldn't move your gaze away from Katsuki at all. Because the Katsuki you knew was dead. To see him standing, more mature, a grown man ridden with scars has you bawling rather quite embarrassingly.
"Hey! Who the hell- wait no.. What-" Katsuki's head turns to you and the other you aggressively, confusion and agitation growing into his face. Before he could blow at your crying figure, the other you steps up in front of you, hands held up in defense. "Katsuki! Don't.. resort to that. Let's be calm and rational.. Let's.." The other you turns to you, a worried expression displayed on their features. "Let's just talk."
And so, that's what you did. You explain how you were in the middle of battling a villain just before you got hit by their quirk. Kirishima and the other pros must be worried about you right now.
"And... Bakugou," your breath hitches, eyes flickering to him for a second, "in my universe.. You died. You died in the war from All For One... or rather, Shigiraki." Katsuki stiffens at the mention of that familiar yet foreign name. So did other you. The... other Kirishima rubs your back soothingly. "Edge-shot wasn't able to repair your heart.. it.. it- after you died, I couldn't- I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," you mutter, bowing deeply at his feet as you squeeze your eyes shut tight, tears escaping through and past your eyelids. Your breathing rapidly increases which Katsuki quickly picks up before Kirishima does, grabbing you under the arms gently, lifting you up to sit back to your position. The other you seemed almost heart-broke at the thought of dead-Katsuki, sharing their sympathy.
Katsuki was silent the whole time, a calm expression on his face. You barely saw that back in high school. You wonder how he is at this time of age.
"Kiri, let's go," the other you urges, waving a hand at Kirishima. They give you a soft smile before walking off and out the room with the red spiky haired man. You and Katsuki sit there in silence, a few silent tears escaping your face at the view of your.. dead crush/classmate? You didn't even know anymore. "Stop your crying," Katsuki scoffs, closing his eyes. You blink at him. Seriously? Maybe he was still the same- "I hate seeing you cry," he looks into your eyes, raising his hand to your face to wipe a tear with his thumb, "it makes me upset." Wait- woah. Were.. you two together?
You blush heavily, wrinkling your pants when you tighten your hold on it. He notices of course, waving your hand away. "I don't know if you're just realizing we're together," wow. He reads you like a book. "But if you are just now realizing it, you need to get that brain of yours checked."
Same old, same old. You snort before laughing, earning a soft scowl from him. "Tell me.." Your laughter dies out, tilting your head to listen, "how is it like.. without me there?" You blink at him, smile dropping quickly. "Well.. It's... empty, at least for me, always has. A lot of us are doing fine there, it's like.. you never existed," his face turns sour from that, "but you are brought up time to time.. and we celebrate the day you died- not that we're celebrating that you died! But.. you were honestly," you look up at him with adoring eyes, "one of the greatest heroes of all time. So we felt the need to celebrate the day of your self-sacrifice."
Katsuki looks at you, unable to comprehend on how to respond to that. Luckily, when nothing comes to mind, you ask him a question, "how did.. we..? How did you.." He chuckles, running his scarred hand over his hair. "I confessed first, if that's what you're asking. We started dated in our second year and have been ever since," his eyes avert down to the golden ring on his finger and your eyes also follow, "and we.. got married. about six years ago."
You look up at his face, his face contorting into a softening loving look. You never seen this side of him before at all. Your feelings that you never lost for the boy, now man, seems to grow a little more.
You both flinch when a weird swooshing sound comes from behind you, a portal comes into your view when you turn. Out pops is a way much more familiar red spiky haired man. "(Y/N)! You-" suddenly his voice breaks and stops working, staring at the grown blonde man in front of you. "Bakugou," Kirishima breathes, tears seeping from his tear ducts, threatening to fall. Now it was time for you to cry. You shake your head violently, jumping into Bakugou's arms, catching him by surprise. "N-no! I don't- wait please! I don't want to go yet! Not yet, not yet! Please- Katsuki! I have so much to say- so much to ask! Please-" Katsuki kisses you in an open mouth kiss, hands gently caressing your face and hair.
Heat rises to your cheeks as tears fall, his warm lips detaching from yours. "That always works," he chuckles softly, looking up at Kirishima with a fond smile before looking down at you with his piercing eyes that held so much love, the same you held for him. "(Y/N), I am so, so sorry that I'm not there. I really am, for everybody. If you had more time, of course I'd answer anything you'd ask. But let me tell you this," he gently pecks your forehead gently, as if on cue, the other you walks in with a small Bakugou clinging onto their leg. Your lip bobbles at the sight. "I love you. I always did, have, and will," Bakugou wraps his arms around you, smiling at the now-crying Kirishima from your universe. Even with Katsuki's voice being so soft, his voice still remained so gruff. His voice was like hearing music for the first time in years. Something you hadn't heard in years.
Before you step through the portal, you look back at the happy family, all three smiling at you. You smile back, feeling a little bitter that you couldn't have this ending. But nonetheless, you were happy that another part of you still got this ending. You felt closure. Now that you know that he still survived from the war, you were a little happy.
Only that it was just from another universe. Not yours.

i like to head canon that maybe the reason why bakugou was all pouty in that one scene in WHM is because izuku, along with making hero analyses, had way too much time in middle school with no friends that he put a lot of effort into his english homework and also taught himself ahead of the class so while everyone else in class 1A was still learning how to speak it fluently, izuku already knew how and could understand rody clearly and bakugou was just super jealous of him

he lets you paint his nails | k. bakugou
Tumblr media
> pairing: katsuki bakugou x reader
> word count: 995
> concept: college au (aged-up), established relationship, domesticity, gn reader, canon divergence
> summary: bakugou lets you paint his nails
> warning(s): smoking weed
> author’s note(s): so i'm noticing i prefer college au's because the idea of writing a high school pov is so funky monkey to me. also, this was inspired by art I saw on instagram, but I forgot the artist.
Tumblr media
You love spending the day at Bakugou’s place.
When you first started the student-hero routine, you collaborated with Kaminari and Mina on when to schedule your patrols, so you could work with either of them. Unfortunately, Bakugou decided on an opposite schedule to his roommate, so he would only have to cross paths occasionally.
That meant whenever you were working, Bakugou was off. And when you were off, Bakugou was out of the apartment.
This weekend was different, though. He switched patrols with Kirishima, who needed his shift covered, and went home early.
He already knew you would be at his place. He asked you last night over the phone and then confirmed with Kaminari.
When he unlocked the door, the smell of weed knocked him back. He scrunched his nose in irritation, but it quickly died when he caught sight of you stirring something on the stove, swinging your hips to music in your head.
You turned around when he shut the door behind him, and you dropped your spoon. Your eyes were red and glazed over, but he could read the pleasant surprise on your face.
"Katsuki," you breathed, smiling. "You're home."
"It reeks in here." He frowned darkly, dropping his duffle bag and uniform next to the couch.
"You're usually not here to smell it," you confessed whimsically, unbothered. You go up to him and bring him into a tight hug. The type of hug you gave when you were inebriated and wanted to literally melt into him. He slowly eases into it. "You're not going on patrol?"
"I would have if I was assigned an area," he muttered. "Eiji needed me to cover another time for him, so he took this shift."
"Remind me to thank him later," he heard you mumble against him.
Bakugou chuckled softly, petting the back of your head. "You miss me or something?"
"Always, asshole." You pull away from him, but he keeps his arms around you. "You're reckless."
He glares at that. "What did you say?"
"Nothing," you say quickly, pecking his lips. "We're in Kami's room. Mina's here too."
"Goody," Bakugou remarks dryly, allowing you to drag him to Kaminari's room. The smell only got stronger the deeper you went into the apartment.
"Blasty boy is here!" Mina screeched when you showed up in the doorway. Kaminari was in the middle of a bong rip when his eyes met Bakugou's glare, and he choked.
Bakugou felt a brief sense of satisfaction as he watched Kaminari cough until tears ran down his cheeks.
"You're not supposed to be here," Kaminari wheezed out once he could speak.
"Why does the place smell dank?" Bakugou glared darkly.
"We do this every weekend. Chill out," you speak up, taking a spot on the ground next to Mina.
Every weekend? "How have I not smelled it?"
"Because your sense of smell isn't as impressive as you think." Mina giggles at your clap back as she takes the bong next.
"We were gonna smoke and then paint our nails," Mina tells him. Bakugou leans against the doorframe and glances at you, but you're preoccupied with choosing a color. "Can I paint your nails, 'Tsuki?"
"Not a chance, Pinky." He lowered himself next to you, nodded when you showed him your color, and wordlessly asked for his opinion. He looked over the options, a combination of the three of your collections, all scattered on the floor between them.
He picked a basic black and passed it to you, which you took with confusion.
"Can you do mine this color?" He could feel the rush of heat crawling up his neck when Kaminari and Mina began squawking at how soft he was for you.
You silence them with a look, which he's grateful for, and smile warmly.
"Of course. I'll paint yours, then mine." You shifted, facing him, and took his hand into your lap. "Oh, wait. I'm gonna take a rip first." You paused as you reached for the bong, glancing at Bakugou briefly to check for disapproval.
He smiled and gave you a wink, enjoying how your lips pulled back into a wider grin as you grabbed the bong by the neck.
He thought you looked pretty when you handled smoking like an expert. Even though he didn't smoke, he thought it was amusing when his friends got high. And when you got high, you laughed at everything, and Bakugou loved your laugh.
"So, when is the shift you're covering for Eiji?" You ask him after starting on his nails.
"Sometime next week," he mutters, although he probably should let Kaminari know too. "I think it's during one of your shifts."
"Oh, maybe we can pair up then," you smile, keeping your focus on his nail so close to your face that you're nearly cross-eyed. "Can I add some orange? I'll make it look nice."
"Whatever you want," he tells you, makes your chest swell.
It makes his stomach flip when he realizes how dainty your hands are compared to his, and he can feel his cheeks get warm. With his other hand, he brings it against your face and pulls you closer to press a kiss on your forehead.
"What was that for?" You laugh breathlessly. You feel his body shrug across from you.
"Felt like it."
Off to the side, Mina is pretending to show Kaminari a video on her phone, but she's really recording this sweet moment where you're painting Bakugou's nails.
Tumblr media
Bakugou loves that you painted his nails. As the week begins and you two return to your everyday routines, Bakugou checks his nails constantly.
He's careful and makes sure the polish doesn't chip off. He checks for hangnails every hour and uses oil on his cuticles.
When he's in class, and it's been a while since he's seen you, he'll start rubbing the side of his index finger against the nail on his thumb. Something about feeling the smooth paint gives him relief.
(im definitely projecting, but i hope you enjoyed)

Kith and Kin AU:
How does Sakura do in the first event?
Does Bakugou have a team for the second event? I’m not sure if Sakura would have brought up middle school at any point.
Beside Midoriya and Todoroki, who are the other teams that make it to the tournament?
Oh mighty randomizer, how does the tournament play out?
Much like canon Izuku, Sakura's Quirk doesn't help her much here. However, that changes at the landmines, as the dirt there is something she can manipulate with her Quirk. I'm picturing her basically doing the same thing Izuku did in canon, but with her Quirk in place of the metal slab.
Katsuki's class dynamics are different since he and Kirishima were separated at the USJ. Furthermore, Sakura isn't shy about why she doesn't like him, (though her presence actually meant he wasn't able to be as bad to Izuku as canon). As such, while he is approached to form a team, when he--as in canon--asks everyone what their Quirks are again because he wasn't paying attention to his classmates, they ditch him. Luckily, there's someone looking for a team and her first picks were full. Hatsume is thus willing to team with Bakugou.
I tweaked the randomizer results a bit--the first matches were fine but I reordered them so the next rounds would be more interesting.
Yanagi vs Ashido: Yanagi keeps trying to trip her up but Ashido is better.
Bakugou vs Tokyami.
Sakura vs Asui: Mouthful of sand/dirt is very distracting.
Tokage vs Kendo: Tokage's defenses are better than Kendo's straightforward offense.
Hagakure vs Hatsume.
Yaoyorozu vs Kaminari.
Uraraka vs Todoroki.
Izuku vs Komori: Due to an uneven number, Izuku has two matches to start with. Thanks to his practice with Sakura, he can neutralize Komori's Quirk, especially this early in her arc.
Izuku vs Iida: Izuku's more maneuverable.
ROUND 2
Ashido vs Bakugou: She gives him a hell of a fight trying to neutralize his sweat, but can't keep up in the end.
Sakura vs Tokage: Sakura has experience with moving targets.
Hagakure vs Yaoyorozu: Yaoyorozu wins.
Todoroki vs Izuku: Izuku has Full Cowling. He wins.
Round 3
Bakugou vs Sakura: Bakugou had a rough fight before this and Sakura really hasn't. She's fresher, he's sore, and they both have a mutual grudge. Sakura actually comes out on top though as Bakugou canonically needs time to get going while Sakura can instantly turn his own smoke and debris against him.
Yaoyorozu vs Izuku: He's faster and she's still hesitating.
Final Round
I did not intentionally pit the twins against each other for the record. That's just how it turned out. But Izuku has more experience dealing with Sakura's Quirk than she does with his, so he takes the tournament.

I've already said that in my rewrite, I'm thinking about discarding Bakugou from my version and putting in a character inspired by his beta version. But I'm having doubts about this issue. How will I demonstrate the bullying that Izuku suffers at the beginning of the story? Or should I make the story start with the UA entrance exam arc?
Quirkless discrimination isn't particularly something that Canon material delves deeply into (me and many others speculate that it was avoided so as not to make bakugo look bad)
Now, discrimination, as we see in MHA, comes in many forms. From what we see in Canon, Izuku's primary aggressor was bakugo without a doubt, and due to you reverting bakugo to his first draft, this means that we won't see bakugo antagonising izuku.
Tumblr media
However, izuku will realistically still suffer from discrimination, and this could be through:
Introducing a new character that basically ends up taking bakugos place as the bully
Showing microagressions that izuku experiences due to his quirklessness, whether that be people limiting their interactions, talking behind his back, or simply ignoring him. Ghosting him as if he doesn't exist.
Teachers could be depicted as passive-aggressive with izuku, whether that be with things like not taking him seriously or simply ignoring his presence.
Tumblr media
I think a mixture of options 2 and 3 would make the most sense. Izuku lives in a large city in Canon meaning that the discrimation he would experience wouldn't be as physically violent or aggressive as if it was in the rural sides as we have seen hori view it.
Due to the increased diversity in the city and maybe better policing (could be argued or shown not to be better policing), Izuku's experiences would mainly be very detrimental social aspects of his life being significantly hindered in reality which would still heavily effect his character whether that be the obvious anxiety, decrease in self esteem, desire for belonging which drives him to heroics and more.
From what we do see in Canon, the world of MHA very much emphasies the idea of conformity and how its basically one's social death (which ultimately leads them to a mu h more horrible life) if they don't achieve it. We see this with characters like toga, shoji, yuuga, and izuku.
Tumblr media
Mha has a huge emphasis on fitting in and being the status quo being like all Might and giving it your all for a society that probably despises you and constantly exploits you.
Ironic, don't you think? For a society where quirks are labelled as a form of "uniqueness" and "individuality." That same individuality or lack of is being policies, having a label stuck on it, determines the fates of innocent children who have yet to see the dirt that society has. Those who don't fit the status quo will break themselves trying to fit in. They will long for family and will die doing so. Some may succeed in putting on the mask, but how long will it last? Toga sure didn't, and neither did Yuuga's. How many more will suffer for everyone to look and see the other as a human?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I won't lie to you it will be hard to accurately present quirkless discrimination without it wildly going to human experiments and people treating you like dirt type of fanon.
It will also be hard to write quirkless discrimination from the little time izuku is in aldera Middle School. However, even if you choose to start your story at the UA entrance arc exams you also have to actively explore why izuku is the way he is which is due to quirkless disceimation and his childhood!!!

To have: Jammingwhey’s social intelligence
Tumblr media
"...whaddaya doin', dunce-face?"
Horikoshi referred to Kirishima and Kaminari as class 1-A’s emotional cores. Out of the two of them, Kaminari flies more under the radar, due to lesser screentime.
How does Kaminari function as one of 1-A’s emotional cores?
Let’s start with a perhaps more unconventional example:
“Flaming crap mixed with garbage” is still one of the more creative insults that appeared in MHA. Alongside Asui, Kaminari took over the quite important job of making the shifting power dynamics between Deku and Bakugou visible:
Bakugou's unrestrained violence against Deku during 1-A's first team assignment, was enough to make the class lose respect for him.
While Bakugou is undoubtedly talented and powerful, he was also blind to the fact, that he was only a big fish in a small pond.
At UA, everyone used to be in the top of their middle schools. Some, e.g., Iida, came from much better schools than Bakugou himself.
Meaning, Bakugou had no reason to prance around the way he did - and it was at UA, where he got served his first humble pie ever: Firstly, Deku fighting back. Secondly, a show of Todoroki's power. Lastly, a very sober but cutting assessment of himself by Yaoyorozu.
In contrast to the kids at his old school - and aside from a traumatized Deku - neither Kaminari nor the rest of 1-A are afraid of Bakugou. Kaminari snarking at Bakugou is him letting Bakugou know that.
To repeat: At UA, everyone used to be in the top of their former schools.
I just feel taken back a bit, whenever fanon depicts Kaminari and Ashido as being dumber than bricks. The two of them are the academically lowest ranking students in class 1-A, of UA. Characterizing them as being overall stupid, is like saying the academically lowest ranking freshman at Harvard University is generally stupid.
Don’t get me wrong: At elite schools, there are many intelligent people - and plenty more dumb people, just like anywhere else.
But everyone who gets into the school, must've been smart and talented enough, in order to beat out the dozens of other applicants for one of the coveted spots.
Considering how real-life schools in Japan work, Kaminari too, was most likely in the top of his middle school: He casually references Hemingway, like he reads his stuff for fun... Which actually might be the case, because I don’t think that American author is commonly part of the curriculum in Japanese highschools.
Furthermore, Bakugou (ranked 3rd in the midterms) and Monoma (rated with a 5/5 in intelligence in the official data book) have canonically failed exams before.
In short: Just by themselves, academic scores don't mean jack shit, if you want to have an accurate picture of someone's intelligence and capabilities - not to mention, potential.
Tumblr media
Whiny wannabe edge-lord Shinsou should be grateful that there are generously kind people like Kaminari. I wouldn't have the ducking patience.
Aside from letting a peer know that their crappy behaviour is unwelcomed, and next to the example above, Kaminari’s social intelligence also shines in other moments.
The light novels lampshade that trait at least twice:
When he makes sure to include Kouda, making room for the latter to voice his thoughts if he wishes too.
Another of the stories, narrates something along the lines of, ~he [Bakugou] had the feeling, that as long as Kaminari existed, Bakugou would never be alone.~
Kouda is one of the minor 1-A students. As such, he's often forgotten by the audience. But in-universe? They may not be close, but Kaminari Denki will never let anyone feel left out.
Tumblr media
Even 1-A's snappy Pomeranian ends up appreciating him.
I mean, it starts with Kaminari running after Kirishima, who was following Bakugou. After a while, Kirishima and Kaminari trailed after Bakugou together. Since then, Bakugou has dragged Kaminari with him, and told the latter to "leave the rescue to the extras!" Thus, explicitly excluding Kaminari from 'those extras.'
Tumblr media
And why wouldn’t you keep a good grip on such an awesome friend?

Mean and Meaner
(Part one)
Katsuki Bakugou is notoriously vicious, and just down right cruel in most circumstances. The class of 1-A had just started to grow accustomed to him, however, a certain turn of events changes the balance of the hero course students.
Training Arc spoilers, most likely differs from canon since its been a fat fucking minute since ive watched / read that early into the series + My writing is a bit rusty so my b 😨
Part two coming soon ! ! Requests open as well 😈
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugou was the epitome of anger, explosive behavior, even having a matching quirk. In the most blunt way possible, he was fucking mean.
Izuku, anyone close to him, and even anyone anywhere in a mile radius can testify for this fact.
If Katsuki is walking in the middle of the hallway, it's you who should move for him. If you somehow convince him to hang out or have a movie night, it's a given he's calling the shots and picking the movie. It doesn't matter whether you snap back, or are the embodiment of sweetness. He'll blast you into tomorrow at any verbal backlash, and kind words will be ignored if you're lucky.
Nevertheless, he was an integral part of UAs Hero Course. As loud, and brash as he was, he earned his way into the school, earning his spot at the very top of the entrance exams, and the sports festival. Despite how difficult it was starting out, and even though he'd never admit it, he'd made friends in 1-A, and stupidly enough, he thought, cared for his classmates.
That's probably how he got into this mess, is it not ? He trained vigorously, was absolutely naturally talented, bright as ever-- No logical explanation, even though he was there, being the victim of the crime, would make him understand how he ever got here. In a dingy, mildew ridden, room, tied and strapped to a chair. It was raggedy, and had an annoying scent of iron that wasn't even slowly, but definitely surely, driving him insane. This was nothing like the wealthier and more comforted parts of his or Dekus home. The change in atmosphere continued to unease him, despite how he'd stay firm in his angered stance.
Before he could let himself even acknowledge how uncomfortable it really all was, what he thought was going to be a second villain encounter, charged at him head on.
You, unwavering, glaring, and everything Katsuki deep down despised in himself, stomped up to him and pushed your finger into his unguarded chest.
"Hah?" He wasn't scared, not of a weakling like you. Youd just be another run of the mill villain, and despite how grim his chances were, no way in hell was he giving up. "Just who the fuck are you ?"
His confidence wavered for only heartbeat, when you just laughed right in his face.
How fucking rude.
"I could be asking you that. I thought the league captured people with potential. Not some dumb bitch who's still cuffed up and has his tail between his legs like a lost puppy stranded in the rain."
His jaw dropped a bit, but before he could even bite back, you just about ripped his throat out with tiger-like fangs.
"God. I was actually hoping I could have an escape buddy, not some hero wannabe. This is fucking embarrassing, im glad I never enrolled in those shitty, stuck up school. You're too busy learning how to wipe your ass to protect yourself when it comes down to it. Pa-the-tic."
He looked at you, shocked. For one of the only times in his life, Katsuki Bakugou was dumbfounded. He didnt even have the chance to attack before you basically clocked him. All of his insecurities and fears bubbling up.
Is this how Izuku felt ?
He was quick to snap out of it though, when he saw a familiar, snarky grin. Where he remembered it from, he was unsure.
"And who are you to be saying that ? You look about my age, so it's clear you're just a no brained drop out who had no other options but to be a fucking whore to some loser villain gang. You wouldn't stand a chance against the heroes."
There it was again, that grating, irritating laugh, that echoed throughout the damp room, and through each bone in his body. Hes not scared, is he ?
"God, you really ARE dumb." You genuinely laughed, usually finding amusement in how easy it was to tick people off, but this was just absurd. "You sure are jumpy, scared. Especially with conclusions. Your critical thinking skills are in desperate need of a first grade class, how'd you even graduate ?
He looked at you, growing more angry. If it weren't for the stupid binding, and the hope the heroes would find him before he had to take things into his own hands, he wouldve knocked the shit out of you yesterday.
"What do you mean, fuckface ? If you have something to say, just spit it out already. No one has time for your shit."
You scoffed. "Clearly the league does." Before he could accuse you of anything else, you pulled out a large cuffed hand locking device, in the metal, a name was carved in. "The league scouted me first, obviously thought I was stronger. More worthy than you." You stuck your tongue out, teasing him with salt in his wound. "Of course I don't have time for that bullshit. Both heroes and villains are way out of their fucking minds. They look like little kids tripping over themselves to play pretend." You looked him dead in his ruby red eyes, "You all need to grow up."
He was beyond pissed at this point, who the fuck did you think you were ? Just who were you ? Was that name yours ? No way you had a fucking custom made handcuff. Was it due to your strength ? How long have you been here ? What have you even been doing to get found by the League ? Who are you ?
Before he realized it, his boiling anger turned into an itching curiosity.
But over his dead fucking body would that be clear.
"Great, so you're a dumbass and delusional. What makes you think getting kidnapped is a compliment ? Did they take you from the fucking psych ward ? For everyone's sake you should be put back in."
You laughed, again. The way his words barely even effected you irritated him, the way youd easily bite back with something arguably even meaner, you irritated the fuck out of him.
"Then what is it, ready to accept the fact you're just that weak then ? If it's not a compliment, what is it ? A show of how gullible you "Heroes" are ? Nice fucking try."
The argument stopped there, but for the next few days, the bickering between you rarely ceases.
Occasionally, a league member will come in to shut you up, and re cuff you, scolding you for 'escaping.'
You, not even waiting for the villain to exit, but as soon as they turn your back to you, would unlock them with ease.
"If you can get out so easily, why dont you just fucking leave ? For someone who pretends to be so smart and strong, you really have a lack of self preservation."
"Hah, rich coming from you ! What are all those muscles for ? Can't break out of some chains ? Bet you're just a fatass pretending to be strong."
"HEY ! Fuckin watch whatcha say. I could get out quicker than you, kill every lowlife here, " He paused, looking you in the eyes as intimidatingly as he could, "Including you, and escape with time on my hands."
You laughed and punched his shoulder, slowly but surely getting closer and more annoying throughout the days. He hated to admit it, but your punches weren't light. They had a kick to them. It was a little relieving, knowing it wasn't just him and a dead weight.
"Okay, keep dreaming. And you say I'm the delusional one. If it weren't for some big shot hero school, you'd be applying for residential hospital services. Maybe we would've met there."
"Dont get fuckin sappy, the heroes are gonna be here soon, and ill be back to my life and forget you ever existed."
"God I fucking hope so."

I've had Bakugou stans insist to me (mostly in my fics) that Bakugou wasn't spoiled growing up. And I'm over here like, not only did Hori himself confirm that Bakugou was spoiled as a child, but have they seen his behavior?
His attitude in the Sports Festival and Bakugou vs Izuku 2 just REEKED of a toddler being denied candy in the grocery store check out line, especially the fucking CRYING. Good God the crying after Bakugou vs Izuku 2 was pathetic.
Hori himself has confirmed that Katsuki’s been spoiled as a child. Even if this wasn’t true, he’s been spoiled by his middle school, and even if THAT was also not true, he’s been spoiled by the narrative. I hate it when stans can’t differentiate between their head-canons and the actual facts.
A lot of his interactions with people reeks of entitlement. Everything revolving around Izuku and All Might, his fight with Shoto, and the way he interacts with people in general.
