Plus, this is a world where quirks exist. Best Jeanist's whole quirk is fabric manipulation! He doesn't need to see to make clothes.
There are so many invisible heroes and heroines whose suits turn invisible with them. There was no reason Tooru couldn't get the same treatment.
The one comment 'it would be kinda hard to cut her hair' - NO IT WOULDN'T
Blind hair dressers exist. Tooru canonically has shoulder-length hair, hence she cut it. There are probably quirks that can alter the length of hair.
There is no logical reason as to why Tooru cannot get a suit. It isn't about anything sexual, it's about safety. She is exposed to everything without a suit. She will be stepping on stones, affected by weather. Like, I cannot even imagine walking around naked - not because I'd be ashamed, but because it would feel uncomfortable. Just imagine the wind breezing against it, ugh
It's not about nudity. It's about safety. People defending it just can't comprehend that Horikoshi's writing is far from perfect, and not everything is justified
THOSE MHA fans when you point out Hagakure shouldn't be roaming nude:

If they can make a suit for Mirio, who often becomes intangible, they can make one for her. Making one for him would have been HARDER because he isn't solid 100% of the time.
Blind tailors and seamstresses exist. Fabric has feel. Wprking with textiles isn't just about sight.
#mha critical#bnha critical#mha fandom critical#horikoshi critical#bnha fandom critical#hagakure tooru deserves BETTER#no not better#because having protection in the most simple way EVER#is not 'better' it just is#it's basic decency#imma be honest when i say that i don't see nudity as anything inherently sexual#but that's just me#i know that most people do#she should have been able to cover up#if not to avoid nudity then at least to be protected in some way#her costume or lack thereof is DANGEROUS#SERIOUSLY#UGH

I'm currently working on my first analysis essay for my side blog. It's titled:
THE RICH KID AIZAWA THEORY: How It Came To Be, Why I Think It's Canon, How It Could Explain Aizawa's Attitude, and How Will It Influence Rewritten Sparks?
I was wondering what your opinion is on the Rich Kid Aizawa Theory, and if you think it's canon, what are your reasons for that?
Oh, hi hi!!
The Rich Kid Aizawa Theory is something I have not heard in quite a while. For those unaware, this theory stems from a sketch of Aizawa as a kid wearing a GanRiki Neko sweater, which is based off a very lucrative designer branch in Japan, (like, Gucci-levels lucrative).
There's also some stock in the Vigilantes manga, with how his entance into the hero course isn't clear. Did he take the entrance exam? Or did he take the recommendation exam? Maybe he got in through the Sports Festival.
If he took the recommendation exam, he would have needed a sponsor, hence why it could back up the theory.
There's also the matter of his capture scarf. That kind of idea doesn't come to just anyone - to have a scarf they can manipulate as a capture weapon. It could serve to back up the Rich Kid theory, which people reasoning that he would need wealth in order to create it.
On the contrary, there are panels in Vigilantes that point to the opposite. There's a panel of him living homeless. When he eats with Hizashi and Oboro, he only has a bunch of energy bars, and nothing else, while Hizashi and Oboro have a full lunch.
I mean, U.A. in canon certainly looks to be expensive. But, it doesn't mean it's a private school. Even then, Tokyo has many high-level schools that don't need a tuition fee.
Personally, I headcanon Aizawa as being born rich, but also being unwanted. As in, as soon as he got into U.A., he was given limited money, and wasn't allowed to fall back onto it after U.A.
It would explain a lot of his cynical attitude, and why he could afford rich items as a child, but was limited later on.
I look forward to seeing your essay! Good luck on your writing endeavours!

I just counted and my villian total for my au is nearing 100. Granted I have an explanation to how I can fit so many arcs into this au (not going over it bc it’s a massive spoiler for the ending), I’ve broken down the groups into individual members (IE Shie Hassaki) and some are from the adaptations of team up missions/monsters of the week type stuff where they’re easily taken down/sent into rehabilitation. Yes rehabilitation is a major thing in my au) but like at the same time, it’s gonna make the equivalent to the Final war a lot more fun
I forgot to tag myself in my last ask (the one about the villians) - 💠
Honestly? That sounds like a good time.
I mean, there's a chance that it be found repetitive, but as long as you factor that in, then you do you, man.
Villains outside of the LOV and Shie Hassaki aren't really explored in MHA, so it'd be nice to see where you take it.
Good luck on your writing endeavours!

I know that you publish the mra story on Sundays do you have a specific time that you publish or is it random also feel better we can wait for the story
Hihihi!
First of all, thank you for your patience, and your wishes. I do feel a lot better after that break.
I do not have a specific time, mostly because my schedule is always fluctuating. As in, my sleeping schedule. There's no telling if I'll wake up at 1100 or 1800.

I try on doing that with with the whole transitional themes that I’m trying to litter throughout that society is changing. The number 2 hero (changed from endeavor because of narrative reasons) is partially a hero with a more Villainous looking quirk with more transformative side effects if he uses it too long, making him relatively popular within the heteromorph community. So when he’s aware of this, he decides to ally with the movement. He himself knows what it’s like to be feared so he wants to offer a safe space to those who are looked down on by society. Because Yknow, someone dropped the ball on that. but yeah there’s a lot of change going on within this verse and I wanna illustrate that with things like the movement, changing views in heroes, and the fact that they have the power to change society for the better. - 💠
(referencing this post)
I'm loving how progressive your version of the world is. It's great for kids to have someone to look up to! After all, it's hard to see yourself in superman when he looks nothing like you.
I like that the public's opinions are actually taken into account. It fits too, because, according to the canon timeline, it should only be recent that hero society has settled, maybe a hundred years. Quirks were only discovered two hundred yers pre-canon, and nobody can convince me that they were easily accepted into society.
In short, it sounds good! Good luck on your writing endeavours!

so since the lov never forms in my rewrite, part of the challenge was seeing how to chacterise the lov emmebers as individual villains or civilians.
I got this idea fir spinner and magne that I want your opinion.
Magne and spinner operate as a duo of vigilantes that protect marginalized groups from unjust violence.
Spinner uses his various gecko abilites to adopt an animalistic fighting style and attacks using his retractable claws(cat geckos, the name is self explanatory), prehensile tail(mossy geckos have this), shooting sticky liquid from his tail(golden tailed geckos do this)and his sheer strength (he can bench 40 tons).
Magne's weilds a pair of nightsticks with opposing magentic ends. Her signature move is magnetizing her opponent, pulling them in with the opposing magnet, then using the other magnet to send them hurdling away.
Spinner was always ostracized for his reptilian appearance and was seen as an omen of evil by his peers. He never felt like he fit in. This is highlighted in a scene idea I have of spinner looking at a museum portrait and seeing it in different colors than the other people due to having four cone types instead of three lime humans have.
Magne ended up seeing her trans friend being beaten do death for her gender identity, and faced discrimination for her transgender status, and got misgendered plenty of times.
Kenji and shuchi met at a bar once and quickly became good friends, they both were angry at the heroes standing by and letting discrimination towards marginalized people like them run rampant. So they became a duo of vigilantes to give a voice to the oppressed, to help those the heroes had failed.
so what do you think? Any questions?
Hello! Sorry for the long wait! Let's get into the ask!
I like this. Vigilantes aren't explored in MHA, really. There's Stain who started as an activist, then vigilante before turning into a villain, but it doesn't really get its own thing.
Izuku became a vigilante briefly in the Dark Hero Arc, but, again, it doesn't get delved into, especially since he works with heroes and has his license during it.
Having two vigilantes with a level of importance allows you to delve into the semantics of vigilantism.
As for Spinner and Magne themselves: I like it.
Spinner is already a character I liked in canon (before the war arc), and I like how you've developed Magne's character. In canon, she was just a brute who gets killed off for Himiko's development, but, here, she feels like an actual character with a logical through-line as to how she became a vigilante.
I like that they bond over their trauma and discrimination, and that, as vigilantes, they can acknowledge the faults of hero society and the system.
Many fics starring Izuku as a vigilante don't get into that territory. Sure, there are call-outs to the system, specifically how a quirkless kid can't do much of anything, but there's rarely a case of vigilantes having to help where heroes don't or fail to do.
There's a lot one can do with this, and I wish you luck in your writing endeavours!

I LIIIIIIIVE!!!!
I'm back baby!!
I've pre-answered a bunch of asks that I'm going to post right after this. To all those who waited - my apologies.
One more thing: I will no longer be answering any asks pertaining to the MHA Boxing AU. Not only is it not my AU, but at this point, I feel like I'm writing someone else's fic for them. As someone with rapidly multiplying WIPs, I just don't feel comfortable doing it anymore.
It was fun while it lasted, but I really only want to focus on my own works. Asking for advice and such is still perfectly fine, but I won't be writing snippets or even full chapters for anyone else.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
#ask#ask related anyway#sorry to anyone looking forward to the boxing au#but it's not my fic so i won't write it anymore#unfortunately my yu-gi-oh card collection of WIPs calls out to me#i can't leave it hanging for someone else's fics#BTW#yes#this does mean that i am back answering the MRA asks#again thanks for waiting#you guys are the best

(I apologize if you get this twice or even three times, my internet has been messing up)
Hello! It’s fine, I understand, you don’t have to apologize for taking a little bit to answer the Forced-Team Up Ask. I get it. Also, if I’m being honest there’s asks in my own inbox that’s been sitting in there for years 😭.
And yes! Thank you, Yuga’s parents are abusive! And I’m tired of being people denying it or ignoring it. While yes, they didn’t know what they were getting into with All for One and they do end up regretting- but that doesn’t change the harm done to Yuga. Just like how Endeavor’s “atonement” doesn’t erase everything he has done to Rei and the Todoroki siblings.
Also, I really want to write a fic for the Forced-Team AU and I wanted to ask. It’s okay if I used some of your ideas that you contributed to the AU (primarily just the stuff surrounding the How/Why the Izucrew and the LOV are working together)? I’ll make sure to give you credit and stuff. And of course, there’s gonna be differences between the fic and the asks.
And since you’ve been contributing a lot to this AU, I also wanted to ask if there’s anything in particular you would like to see in the fic or even any songs that remind you of the AU?
Yeah! Yuga and Hawks being foils and then having Yuga’s relationship with Todoroki mirror Hawks and Dabi’s relationship because Todoroki and Dabi are foils could’ve been so much fun and cool, but no their creator just had to be Horikoshi.
—✨✍️
You have my permission to use any of the ideas I contributed, with credit of course. Taking inspiration from others is nothing new, and I encourage it.
I don't particularly have anything I'd absolutely want to see, but a song that I relate to your AU?
'Nothing Ever Changes' by Nico Collins. I think the lyrics match the situation the kids have landed themselves in, and it can link to Tomura's mindset and goals. Especially this verse:
I hope that when I fast forward Twenty something years We no longer live our days in hatred or in fear And live to be, kind and free To do unto each other As you'd have 'em do, unto you United undercover
Sorry to keep you waiting. Good luck!

Anyone else thinks it's funny how everyone agrees the ending sucks ass but it's when they didn't get something they want? Like it took certain fans seeing that MHA was ASS was with Tomura's death. But now people don't like MHA's ending because Midoriya didn't want to join Bakugo's agency and Bakugo kind of looked sad about it. Like oh my Loooord. I swear people do not pay attention unless it's something like.
This is often the case for a lot of works. People, (and I'm including myself in this), tend to not realise when something is bad as it happens, only when it ends.
Of course, this isn't the case for everyone. A lot of people noticed how incompetent the storytelling and writing was, but a large portion of the audience didn't have any issues until the ending.
This is both because the final war saga was full of flaws, whereas the flaws previously were more spaced out, AND because the main demographic is young boys. Not just that, but MHA soon became the introductory anime to many.
Because MHA is so closely based upon western tropes and action, being mainly inspired by Marvel and DC, it was the anime to ease new watchers into the anime medium. People who have no idea what other anime are capable of telling watch MHA, and it's great! It's flashy, everyone has superpowers, it's funny, it has dark content, it's not afraid to kill people off...
But, well, when all you've seen is MHA, all you can compare other anime to is MHA.
Young kids who aren't concerned with and don't know how to look out for all those flaws, and people new to the scene who don't know how other anime compare.
Horikoshi spent a long time giving the villains a sympathetic backstory, explaining exactly how they ended up where they are, and he offers no solutions.
There was certainly a level of lip-service paid towards it. But nothing actually put into play.
The HPSC is shown to be corrupt, raising child soldiers and driving Nagant off the deep-end, but nothing is done or even planned to abolish this corruption. Instead, Hawks becomes president over the very company that abused and groomed him.
Quirk Marraiges were made illegal far before canon, but Endeavour proves that they're still an actual thing. What is done to circumvent this? Nothing. Not even an activist group.
Endeavour, in general. He abused his kids, neglected them, abused Rei and drove her insane. Everything is brought to light. But nothing changes. People don't come to the realisation that heroics is a job, not a state of mind. They just forgive Endeavour because 'hE cHaNgEs'.
Mutant discrimination. What is done to help mutants become more accepted? Nothing. Shouji just yells at them that violence isn't the answer, but there's nothing actually put into play to help mutants.
Quirk discrimination in general. People with weak or 'villainous' quirks are treated like shit, (apparently). What is done to help them? ... Oh, yeah, NOTHING!
There were many early signs that MHA was going to bad. I mean, the QAT is even more biassed than the entrance exam, but Aizawa is painted as being a fair teacher. At least the entrance exam placed value on having heroic spirit with rescue points - Aizawa's QAT favoured anyone with a physical quirk.
The second heroics lessons was a simulated battle in an enclosed environment, rather than, oh, you know, learning how to fight. Bakugou nearly kills Izuku, and Aizawa just tells him to grow up.
People ignored the signs, and I did too for while, because of that hope that it would improve over time. Because the world was interesting, and it seemed to be developed.
It was not, but the minor level of lip-service made it seem like it was.
People flipped out when Izuku rejected Bakugou's offer to be his sidekick, as if that would have been a satisfying ending. People flipped out over IzuOcha being confirmed, despite it being heavily implied since the beginning.
People have turned on MHA because it didn't give them the ending they wanted. That's not to say that the ending wasn't bad - it absolutely was. But not for the reasons people brought up.
The world has barely changed from where it started, Izuku isn't even allowed to work his way into heroics, hero rankings are still a thing for some reason, the HPSC hasn't changed, and it just felt like a wasted journey.
And that's what MHA is, in the end. A wasted journey.

So, let me guess– you just started a new book, right? And you’re stumped. You have no idea how much an AK47 goes for nowadays. I get ya, cousin. Tough world we live in. A writer’s gotta know, but them NSA hounds are after ya 24/7. I know, cousin, I know. If there was only a way to find out all of this rather edgy information without getting yourself in trouble…
You’re in luck, cousin. I have just the thing for ya.
It’s called Havocscope. It’s got information and prices for all sorts of edgy information. Ever wondered how much cocaine costs by the gram, or how much a kidney sells for, or (worst of all) how much it costs to hire an assassin?
I got your back, cousin. Just head over to Havocscope.
((PS: In case you’re wondering, Havocscope is a database full of information regarding the criminal underworld. The information you will find there has been taken from newspapers and police reports. It’s perfectly legal, no need to worry about the NSA hounds, cousin ;p))

💠 here and I just realized something about mha’s narrative is that these kids have no down time whatsoever. Like the narrative gives them no time to breathe, it’s always something that fowards the narrative. They want to go to the mall? Boom! Shigaraki has to be there. Training camp to be better heroes? Let’s just have one of these kids get kidnapped and let 5 other kids rescue him at the downfall of a mentor. Not to mention THE ENTIRE WAR ARC BECAUSE THESE ARE STILL FIRST YEARS (iirc on the timeline that they were first years during war arc). While I get why the writing is like this, shonen jump could've cancelled it at any moment, it just kinda rushes everything and leaves most of the cast to be bland/forgettable (most of 1-A) if not outright have their writing thrown in the trash (I still will not forgive them for throwing the Tenya and Ochaco dynamic with Izuku away).
Like the most they get is the sports festival, some of the training camp arc before it gets thrown out, the cultural festival and maybe the internships but Tsuyu is the only one shown to get a reasonable break in the anime exclusive episodes.
Like let me see Momo trying “commoner’s food”/street food for the first time and seeing how hard people work on the streets, let them having a day to go back to the beach Izuku cleaned up (because I don’t think they ever mentioned it after the early series), or a day where they all talk about updating their hero costumes or Izuku mentioning things about their quirks (kinda like how you were sprinkling in for the rewrite). Just GIVE THEM AND THE STORY SOME DOWN TIME AND LET THE CHARACTERS DEVELOP AGH.
NAH BUT LIKE FOR REAL!?!?
People can say what they want about filler or the obligatory beach episodes, but they were great! Just seeing these characters having fun, seeing how they act outside of high-tension, high-stake scenarios.
Who organises hang-outs? Who comes thirty minutes early, who comes an hour late, (totally not me, sorry guys), who always brings painkillers or lip balm or plasters/bandages? Who brings out a deck of cards, who cheats, whose poker face is terrible, who loses every game?
It's great seeing characters, especially teenagers, act their age. Not only does it serve to make the bonds between them feel a bit more real, a bit more strong, but it also allowed the audience to get attached to them properly.
See, I don't have an issue with Tomura showing up at the mall episode. I would have just liked to see the kids actually have fun before the sprinkle of plot development.
Show me Momo or Tenya or Shouto buying that trinket Ochako kept staring at but couldn't afford. Show me Mina beating everyone on DDR, and Tooru trying to compete like a fool. Show me Izuku or Mezou nearly breaking the punching machine. Show me Denki or Hanta making Momo and Shouto try crappy fast food and them actually enjoying it.
The timeline of MHA is ridiculous. Like, pace yourself please?? At least, show me what the kids get up to in the spring, summer, and winter breaks.
Downtime and breaks are extremely important, even in plot-heavy works. It's not just the characters who need a break, but the readers too. It gets exhausting reading about all this tragic stuff, maybe a gag here or there.
I guess Horikoshi may have been afraid that the momentum would be killed, but curbing momentum is what makes final acts feel so grand!
To compare it to a song or a musical number, you never want the score to feel stagnant. If a songs starts slow, the end will be all-out, only going down at the very end. See: It's All Coming Back To Me Now. Starts slow, ends with a massive note, and Celine Dion is joined by other vocals.
If a song starts high and up-beat, what composers will do is drop the melody, either cutting out the vocals or the beat, then let it all go out. Like... Uptown Funk with the toned-down bridge, segwaying into a powerful ending.
Stories work in the same way.
If you continuously build that momentum, without a break, it's going to peak early and feel stagnant the longer it goes. Horikoshi refused to give characters more than a chapter to settle down, and it made it all feel so same-y.
That's part of the reason by the ending of the Final War doesn't feel impactful at all. You're not left thinking, 'wow'. You're thinking, 'finally'.
