Anywho, Shark! Furina would fit in the Dragon AU with her duo penises lmao. And they’re FREAKY with the clasping mechanism and shape too, I just know that the Vet will have a hard time walking upright since I know Shark! Furina is very needy when it is mating time for sharks. Like how canines have knots and felines have spiny barbs on their cocks, Furina’s duo penises allow her to keep you tangled against her for a long time, unable to leave until Furina is thoroughly satisfied with the mating process and ensuring you are well satiated.

I also imagine Furina uses her special “claspers” to keep you close for cuddles. It doesn’t necessarily have to be used for mating, she just uses them to latch into you and make you stay with her a bit longer 🥺. Back when the Nature Ancient was teased I was really hoping for lemur dragons. These creatures don't look like lemurs, nor do they look like dragons, but I like them. I call them Traipsers.

Design notes/trivia/what-have-yous under the cut:

The lore behind these dragons (though 'dragon' is really stretching it) is that they're compassionate, social creatures who live in troops upwards of 50 individuals. Led by three or four of the wisest troop members, Traipsers are known to lead lost travelers through the Viridian Labyrinth, or even house them temporarily within their canopy cities. In the rarest cases, a troop will gladly adopt rescued dragons and Beastclan into their ranks.

Though their gentle temperaments were widely respected by other rainforest denizens, the introduction of the fiercely combative Wildclaws drove Traipsers into hiding, up the tallest tree boughs of the Behemoth where their less dexterous cousins could not reach. For years and years they stayed out of sight, until strange shifts in the magical ley lines started to disrupt draconic way of life - including for Wildclaws. The Traipsers, despite their history, could not sit by and watch their neighbors suffer, so once again they emerged, ready to lend a helping hand.

Traipsers resemble a cross between tree frogs and lemurs. The long nail on the dragon's index finger is used in scratching, foraging and climbing. A large throat sac can inflate to make riveting ribbiting sounds. But Traipsers' most notable trait is their large head fans, which show off a wide array of colors for courtship and expressive purposes. Despite the dark bases of these fans looking like horns, they are actually mostly muscle, and house the ear canal underneath, similar to an elephant. The fans are attached at the back of the neck, and can move up, down, and side-to-side. The tails are too thin to be prehensile, but they can signal to other members of a troop like a flag.

Many of a Traipser's traits are used less for combat and more for communication, as they have not had natural enemies for most of their existence. In addition, Traipser culture values airtight troop relationships, agreeableness, and personal style. Rude, argumentative, or just plain headstrong Traipsers risk banishment from a troop. Loneliness is the worst kind of torture for a Traipser; without anyone to lend support, a loner tends to withdraw and shut down to the point of neglecting their own needs. It's usually after rescue by another troop that the loner 'learns their lesson' and becomes more agreeable. The generosity of a functioning Traipser society starkly contrasts the suffering of its more hotheaded individuals.

On the subject of style, it's not uncommon for Traipsers to decorate their fans with fruit dyes, leaves, stones, and whatever else catches their eyes. Paintings of family or friendship history are a very fashionable choice. Lairs function similarly, only more permanent and with large hanging nests for troops to cuddle in. The care of hatchlings is a group effort, where the parents will gather their closest friends and family to take turns watching over the young and teaching them about the world. Exposure to a friend group's diverse range of worldviews at a young age helps in forming strong Traipser minds.

Traipsers are not used to fighting, and will typically flee to their troop if confronted. If a troop should face danger, a handful of members will attack the opponent with rapid-fire, dizzying kicks and tail smacks, while the rest guard the weak. Lone Traipsers do not have the luxury of teamwork, and will resort to biting and scratching with their long canines and nails. A particularly desperate Traipser will grapple their opponent and attempt to dislocate or break bones, including the jaw.

Introductory Stuff! oviedo vasquez is an NCR ranger. he is stationed at the colorado cliffside at the order of the NCR, observing the legion through his rifle's scope. it is intended that the courier can meet oviedo while working the NCR questline, and can even elect him as a companion after completing his companion quest, MOON RIVER. oviedo can be swayed from the clutches of the NCR and into the courier's debt after the completion of his quest. he is a very faithful man, and very dangerous, too. he will stay by the courier's side unless they side with the legion, to which he will not tolerate them any longer. oviedo also has a long-lost daughter named cassandra; the last remnant of his past he desperately struggles to find. he doesn't talk much about her, nor his past... Personality Notes! oviedo is very blunt. he is standoffish at first and can be read as rude, but beneath that rough exterior is a very loyal, and very hurt, man.  the NCR has molded oviedo into a lethal sniper, thus he is potent with his weapon of choice and very resourceful out in the mojave. he's been with the NCR long enough to become a ranger. if you can stand his distance and periodic blunt insults, you'd find oviedo to be a very useful companion.  he cares about you. a lot. even if it seems like he doesn't. Character Design Notes! some notes on the Cool Dad Companion...... this info has been borrowed from his artfight profile, so some of the language is based around helping others draw him!

BONUS: Companion Quest and Perk? Huh? MOON RIVER is oviedo's companion quest! working the NCR's questline, the courier can meet oviedo at his post by the colorado river. he'll ignore you until you mention you've been ordered to work with him, and he really cannot ignore his orders. the legion is planning an attack on the NCR encampment across the river - or so is the NCR's hunch. they need someone inconspicuous to retrieve proof of this hunch, and that someone is you, of course! totally not because oviedo wants to be left alone and so he sends you into the legion incognito, risking your life - nope, not at all! under oviedo's guidance and sniper protection, the quest is easily completed. the pair of you present your findings together afterwards. oviedo will then pull you aside and be honest with you, informing you of how you'd overcome his expectations and that he is in your favor. now you can travel together! the courier can also complete MOON RIVER without working the NCR questline. to do this, you can find oviedo at his post by the colorado river and pass a few incremental speech checks. if speech checks fail, the courier can persuade him with charms using the black widow or confirmed bachelor perks. oviedo is... kind of a hopeless romantic and likes praise. so yeah. HAHAH if the courier has a negative reputation with the NCR (i.e. legion build) then oviedo will shoot at you before you can get too close. just... instantly aggro'ed by scent I suppose? EYES OF THE HAWK is oviedo's companion perk. it is a VATS enhancement. while traveling with oviedo, you have increased VATS chances of 50% using a scoped weapon, or increased VATS chances of 30% using a non-scoped weapon. Trivia!

According to Kyiv and other sources we’ve collected, his mother conceived him via a sperm bank. There are no records of his biological father other than the rumor of his death before Kyiv was conceived, leaving him with only a mother.

Although some had mentioned that Kyiv’s biological father wanted to be a part of his life until he was slaughtered by Evangeline.

Kyiv’s childhood was rather chaotic with his mother’s manic episodes, where she would lash out at him and apologize continuously afterward, leaving him with a warped perception of his mother at a very young age. Though she never physically abused him, verbally and emotionally he was hurt.

Once Kyiv’s teenage years hit, his interest in engineering started, creating a spherical drone to follow him and keep him on track with everything going on in his young years. Even installed a projector onto the thing so he could project movies he pirated onto the wall of his room.

Most were adult films his mother wouldn't allow him to watch or true crime documentaries.

Along with growing older, Kyiv learned his mother's behaviors and how to tell if she was having manic episodes. Despite still being hurt when his only parental figure would call him derogatory names over something small, he couldn't bring himself to resent her for something she had no control over.

Young adult Kyiv decided to move out of his mother's apartment and got his own apartment close to hers by selling inventions he created, even using some of the money to help his mother get therapy… which horrendously backfired.

Evangeline was leaving the office of her therapist before someone exited another with a loaded pistol, you can imagine what happened next.

Trivia:

Kyiv frequently forgets to buckle his belt during scenarios where you would typically have to, leaving him with an unbuckled one all the time.

The perpetrator responsible for Evangeline’s death has not been identified…

Kyiv remains optimistic until pushed too far, a similar temperament he learned from his mother.

Monday Musings: Synapsida

Last week we talked about Diapsids. The other large group of vertebrates is synapsida (one pair of temporal fenestrae in the skull). Like their diapsid cousins, this extra hole was likely for extra jaw muscle attachments. Higher therapsids and mammals have a sphenoid bone that covered that opening.

A huge difference from other vertebrates is the teeth. Synapsids have differentiated teeth which include canines, incisors and molars. Furthermore, their teeth are occluded which will be explained later this week.

Synapsids also took the multiple lower jaw bones and moved them into the inner ear so that the lower jaw was only made of the dentary.

while modern mammals possess the malleus, incus and stapes, basal synapsids (like all other tetrapods) possess only a stapes. The malleus is derived from the articular (a lower jaw bone), while the incus is derived from the quadrate (a cranial bone).

As synapsids continued to evolve, they developed a secondary palate that separated the nasal cavity from the mouth.

They also developed a thick skin, or dermal layer from which various structures including hair and fur grow.

Lastly, mammals developed mammary glands as a means to feed their young in early stages of life.

Synapsids first appear in the fossil record during the Carboniferous much like diapsids. One of the oldest synapsids is Archaeothyris florensis. Like early diapsids, it had a very lizard-like appearance. Clearly a very popular body plan.

It was more advanced than early sauropsids in that it had stronger jaws that could open wider and it possessed enlarged canines.

The synapsids became the largest land animals during the Permian Period. Many well-known synapsids from this time include Moschops,

Lystrosaurus (who survived into the Triassic unlike it's other counterparts),

and Dimetrodon.

Cynognathus was a famous Triassic synapsid. It is likely it had primitive hair and mammary glands.

The first true mammals appeared during the Late Cretaceous. Brasilodon quadrangularis is one such mammal. Found in Brazil, it was tiny at only about 12 cm in length.

Of course, we all know that after 66 million years ago, the synapsids, specifically mammals became the dominant vertebrates.
