Do u have any skincare recommendations 👀👀
KINDA... this may be a mega hot take but literally nothing matters besides sunscreen, some kind of retinoid cream, and a decent moisturizer. nothing else has evidence-based clinical data supporting it. I tried a bunch of different overpriced eye creams, exfoliants, 10-step skincare routines etc throughout my 20s, but nothing was effective as the retinol I started last year lol
also if you have eczema and moderate to severe acne (like me, or rather I used to have these) you should really be seeking professional medical advice... no tiktok/IG trend has helped me as much as prescription medicine 💀
here's what I used for PCOS-related and infection-caused acne:
birth control
adapalene + benzoyl peroxide cream (this also supposedly prevents wrinkles and, for lack of better word, makes my skin glow)
hydrocolloid acne patches were a lifesaver before I started adapalene
this is what I use for regular skincare:
CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser (good for sensitive skin)
CeraVe PM moisturiser (good for sensitive skin)
Biore SPF 50 sunscreen (no white cast + oily feeling, dries matte)
this is what I use for makeup:
Burt's bees lip balm with SPF (I have a tinted one)
IT cosmetics CC cream SPF 50
I recommend avoiding tanning salons for reduced cancer risk and to slow down signs of ageing! BUT while skin cancer is incredibly preventable, ageing is obviously inevitable. it's best to make your peace with it now, or else be prepared to invest in botox if you want to delay that emotional conversation with yourself a little longer lol

Hi, I'm working on a character who has vitiligo, is there any more information concerning makeup and skincare you can give me to add in the story?
Hey,
Generally for "research questions" I recommend using good old Google. You can very quickly (or at least infinitely faster than by asking us) answer them by visiting sites like the Vitiligo Society. Most disabilities have some sort of organization that offers the basic information about the condition itself. We are here more to provide writing advice.
With that said:
Vitiligo is one of the disabilities that are often much more socially disabling than medically (doesn't mean it that doesn't cause physical issues, though). There's not that many things that you can do about it, but one that you should consider:
Sunblock. Non-pigmented skin is much more susceptible to sunburn, sunburn is a huge factor in skin cancer, etc. The character can also try staying out of the sun.
The type of vitiligo your character has will somewhat affect it, e.g. localized vitiligo will be easier to protect from the sun than the very rare universal vitiligo just based on the % of skin being affected. Also, vitiligo often appears in areas that are hidden, like armpits or the inside of the mouth. Not everyone will have vitiligo patches on their face.
Sometimes people will experience itching before a new vitiligo patch appears, but this will also depend on the type; some cause new patches to happen more frequently than others. If you know the specifics of your character's condition, research should be much easier.
I'm not sure what you exactly mean by makeup? I can tell you that you shouldn't use makeup to hide your character's vitiligo spots, but that's kinda it? Feel free to send more information if you have something specific on your mind.
If you're writing a character with vitiligo, I would also encourage you to look into comorbidities. As many as 30% of people with vitiligo are hard of hearing or d/Deaf, and they develop autoimmune conditions (especially thyroid ones) more often than people without vitiligo, with 15-25% having at least one.
If your character has their vitiligo on their face or other very visible body part, I recommend my guide on writing characters with facial differences (and the #face difference tag in general) as well.

we talk about all the ways jj babies you, but can we talk about all the ways you baby him? like jj x obsessive caring bimbo reader where she’s always having to reach up and clean his mouth whenever he’s eating because he’s too engrossed in whatever conversation he’s having, or whatever food he’s eating that he doesn’t even notice the food on his mouth. The little things like fixing his collar and making sure to bring a spare jacket for him bc even though he swears he won’t need it you know he will. Absentmindedly brushing his hair out of his eyes whenever he’s talking to someone, and placing your hand on his knee when he’s bouncing it anxiously. Dragging him away to apply sunscreen all over his body cs there’s no way you’re letting your man get skin cancer, no way! randomly showing up with shirts and sweaters that you hold up to him and gush “oh, jayj! this would look so handsome on you.” clapping your hands excitedly and giggling when he tries it on, ignoring john b and pope snickering in the background. Whenever you see him in the evenings the first thing that comes out of your mouth is “jj what did you eat today?” and when he uncertainly mumbles nothing, you burst into tears and he has to comfort and reassure you that he’s not going to die of starvation. Putting him through your skincare routine against his will, and sometimes you wash his hair for him (but he really likes that part) it’s gotten to the point that the gang starts saying shit like “eat your veggies jj!” “drink your juice jj.” “no bad words jj.” and he can’t even be mad, cs it really does sound like you. And they’re always always saying “don’t make me call her on you, jayj.” and he just rolls his eyes cs little do they all know, he’s the dominant one where it really counts. You can always tell whenever he is out with the gang getting into some shit he shouldn’t have been and causing trouble, “jj what have you done?” you ask and he tells you nothing but you know your man better than that, so you tell him to pass the phone to kiara because you know she wouldn’t lie to you, and when she snitches on him he sheepishly rubs the back of his neck “i better get going before she comes all the way out here.” like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Telling him to be careful and fussing over him even when he’s doing something completely harmless like changing the tire “jj don’t burn yourself!” you shriek covering your eyes when he does something that doesn’t look too safe to you ( i don’t know anything about cars and neither does she) “baby, it’s not even hot.” he shakes his head fondly, never getting annoyed with your behavior even when other guys would, it’s nice to know someone cares for him so much. it’s something he’s never had.

-doesn't actually let a lot of people touch his hair, and it's uncomfortable when people try and play with his hair without asking

hot take elaborate skincare is a sham scam i have been really low capacity depressed this week and stopped doing anything to my face at night, i still rinse and put moisturizer and sunscreen on in the morning cause i dont want skin cancer but anyhow my skin is the best it's ever been this is groundbreaking idk if it just means im on the wrong products or face wash but i have tried like 6 different cleansers over the years and i am seriously befuddled
