I want to move to the west coast of Canada. I'm so tired of the harsh winters of the Canadian prairie. But, what I'm even more tired of is that they are extremely mild over the last 5 or so years, which is quite alarming. For the first time in my 28 years, I saw rain and lightning in January. For context, my entire life, January is a snowy, hellish month of -30C to -50C weather. The climate change is noticeable when you've lived in the same place your whole life. Seeing the world change before your eyes is scary, and it's really starting to impact people here since farming is such a large part of our local economy.

Anyway, I'm super off topic. I wanted to say that I finally started reading Slewfoot and Piranesi which have been highly recommended to me and been on my list for ages. I can say - so far, I highly recommend both of them. Slewfoot is dark, witchy, gives old gods and pagan vibes. Piranesi, difficult to get read on it, very surreal, sublime, whimsical. I've heard you need to trust the author through the book as it has a huge payoff.

I've also been binge watching the Simpsons - does this age me? lmao I find that show so nostalgic.

Going to play Stardew Valley now.

Also, I've been thinking a lot about epistolary novels and how much I love them. The Princess Diaries are great not just for what's in them but also the format. I feel like I read so many books like this as a kid/teen, but they really seem to be less common in adult fiction.

Any recs?
