Aoharu AU: ZoSan get caught on a rainy day after school/practice/whatever and since Zoro lives closer they run to his place to stay the night.

This is part 1 and 2 (on twitter) and I technically have a part 3 but I need to rework it so I'll post that later. I also have a bunch of deadlines right now so I can't play with this for a bit LMAO

Basically the idea is that they both like each other but don't know it. Zoro's overcompensating by being brusque and Sanji's thinking that he doesn't actually want him there. HE DOES. HE'S JUST WEIRD!! Zoro's just doing his best not to lose absolute control.

One aspect of ZoSan that Westerners may not get the full nuance of is the concept of “うちの”, literally “of our/my household”. There’s a reason why the EA fandom (mainly Chinese from my POV) disproportionally ship ZS over other ships, to the point where even dudebros hop the joke.

So there’s this Chinese saying that means “be strict to yourself but lenient towards others” which is seen as model behaviour for respected individuals. I don’t know if there’s an equivalent idiom in Japanese but both Koreans and Japanese hold similar attitudes towards treatment of self vs treatment of others in society. Here’s the fun part: thanks to collectivist culture, one’s “self” extends to your immediate family too. Since you’re seen in conjunction with your family, if you’re head of the house and your “inferiors” misbehave in public, it reflects badly on you as a person. That’s why strict parenting is more normalised in EA culture, because controlling how your kids behave is more or less the same as controlling how you yourself behave. This is also related to how tough love is a more common form of affection in EA families, there’s a sentiment of “being able to be mean to you means we’re close, being too nice means I see you as a stranger.”

You might now see how this relates to the Strawhats in general (see: Nami beating up members for acting out of line). Sanji is a funny one coz he was sort of a maternal figure secondary to Nami early on in the series. Women aside, there’s a difference in how he treats men on his crew and “outsiders” (e.g. Ace). He’s actually not rude towards men, it’s just that we predominantly see his interactions with the crew! Since his crew is his family, he can be strict with them like how he’s strict with himself.

How does this relate to ZS in particular? Well, it’s because Zoro is closest to him on the self—others sphere. Luffy is his captain so despite the usual bickering he has to obey him to some degree. Usopp and Chopper are younger and weaker, so Sanji has a responsibility to take care of them and show generosity as an “elder”. Franky, Brook and Jinbe are way older than him so there has to be some degree of respect when interacting with them. Nami and Robin are Women. This only leaves Zoro, who is his equal in both age, power and hierarchical position on the crew. Essentially, Sanji has every right to hold Zoro to the exact same standard as he would himself. And given that Sanji is extremely harsh to himself, he’s harsh to Zoro too.

This is why there was virtually no discourse over the “Sanji calls Zoro a liability” moment in the EA fandom. The unspoken context was that Sanji was apologising to Jinbe for Zoro, who wasn’t performing his best. And since Jinbe is relatively new to the crew and also much older than Sanji, it feels like a mother/wife apologising for her son/husband?? It’s giving “I’m sorry my Zoro embarrassed us”?? It’s giving “Zoro is my responsibility”?? On the flip side Zoro absolutely does this to Sanji too. I can’t name a specific anime moment but in one of the mobile game collabs he said something like “sorry our cook caused trouble for you”. The specific wording was うちのコック. (They both think they’re managing the other lmao I hate them)

Tldr: Zoro and Sanji see themselves as one household unit 😭 hence the bickering and bluntness and lack of pretences in general.

So I’m not actually caught up with the manga but I’m a nosy bitch and I gather one piece updates through the grapevine. Regarding the “Sanji calls Zoro a liability” moment, I’ve seen Chinese fans interpret it not as a “Sanji is acting ooc/mutating” moment but as Oda showing off the Zosan/wings dynamic yet again. Basically they say Sanji was having a Wife Moment aka “Zoro you have been dragging out this fight for way too long and I know you can do better and you’re also putting the entire crew in danger, I’m Actually Mad now and you should lock in.” Which is why Zoro didn’t talk back, he knew Sanji was right. Essentially Oda is telling us how zosan keep each other in check. Also these comments were made by Chinese dudebro readers so it’s not even a shipping goggles thing 🤣 Ofc they might not be reading the original Japanese and there’ll be translation misinterpretations yknow, I just like being delulu 🤭

Modern Siren AU

Once again, shouting out @pharaohzeth and also @agreekdemigod

A little bit about sirens: Sirens are intrinsically magical, so they can switch between human and siren form at will, but when born are the form their mother is. (In this case, the siblings were in siren form.)

By age five, Sora has taught them all how to control their magic so all the siblings can control what form they take. Which works out when they go into hiding from Judge with Zeff.

And that leads to how all the siblings eventually show their significant others that they are sirens :3c (a la this comic).

So while zosan is the focus, in the beginning we also have: Reiju x Tashigi (who...I'm not 100% sure yet how they met yet lol); acechiji (who were roommates; omg they were roommates); and Niji x Uta (who are both music majors and are also rivals to lovers lmao)

Yonji was right about them all following age order so he is unconsciously waiting for Sanji to start dating someone so he can maybe ask out his roommate's hot older brother figure, who is also a med student (It's Law)

Zoro hygiene headcanons

I think Zoro rightfully gets clowned for for his horrible hygiene practices but it makes perfect sense for him thinking about his background.

Zoro set out to sea at the age of 16 constantly wondering around East Blue. He didn’t have the same access to showers that he had in his home village. He was def stinkier during his time as the demon of the East Blue. Like can imagine how stinky he was during shells town? Poor Nami no wonder she was in a separate ship at the start Luffy and Zoro combined smells must of been rancid.

Also imo I think Zoro is stinkier between Luffy and Zoro. It’s the fact that Zoro is constantly working out and doesn’t shower daily. An average male athlete showers 3 times a day because how stinky they get after a work out. Zoro is disgusting smelling. Like Luffy is nasty bc he sweats but he doesn’t constantly work out like Zoro. It’s so funny how Sanji and Nami always get up in his face how do they not pass out?

Anyways I do got a few head canons about Zoro’s hygiene practices.

He’s a bad influence on Chopper

When Chopper first join Zoro told him he only needs to shower once a week. Chopper the naive and sweet child he is did as what Papa Zoro told him. It wasn’t until Robin joined Chopper was set straight. She started taking baths with him and chopper left the once a week club and showered every 2-3 days which I think is way better than once a week.

Sanji sets him straight

I love Zosan but there is no way in hell Zoro is dating Sanji with his bad hygiene habits. Sanji is a horny freak but he would never date a stinky guy like Zoro. He would have to draw the line. I think if they start dating Zoro would shower daily. Sanji would ease him into it and it would just be a daily thing after a while. I think it would influence Luffy to shower more too lmao.

His teeth is well groomed

I think the only part of his body he keeps well groomed is his teeth. It’s important for his fighting style so he keeps it up the best. That’s why he doesn’t eat sweets and he brushes twice. His breathe doesn’t smell like shit.

You know now that I’m typing this out Zosan is a stinky couple. Zoro got bad BO and Sanji had bad breathe. Match made in heaven 😭

TLDR basically it’s become almost habit at this point to ship my favorite characters together (if they are compatible ofc) and Sanji and Luffy ended up becoming my favorites after watching OP for a bit so. It was inevitable 😂

I actually started out as a Zolu shipper (I still am just to a lesser degree now!) so really I think it began there—when I get into something I usually scour the AO3 tags for fics so I was on the hunt for some good Zolu writing. Zosan, being the most popular ship in the fandom (according to AO3 stats with over 10k fics. Holy shit) was also often included with Zolu fics making it a poly ship, so I was like oh hell yeah? I’m totally on board with that. So I got to see a lot of really fun dynamics with the three of them, and I started to get invested in the Sanlu side of things. As this was happening I was also watching OP at the same time and Sanji was quickly rocketing up my list of faves to take one of the top spots (Luffy had already become a favorite from the get go). And my brain was just like

so I was like okay alright. Considering. And then after that I was fucking DONE for. They got me in a vice grip and rotted my brain so thoroughly that I’m utterly ruined for any other Luffy or Sanji ships now. I can even pinpoint the EXACT date it happened bc I posted about it lmao here’s my “realizing Sanlu is the ship of all time” post from early December, the day my life changed forever /j

Anyway they just have a really good dynamic and me being the idiot I was decided not to blacklist spoiler tags so I kept seeing stuff about WCI and how it was THE Sanlu arc so that probably doomed me even further. An arc focusing on my favorite characters and their very not homoromantic relationship with each other? I started binging OP nonstop just so I could speedrun to WCI and this was back when I was on like. Episode 300 something. I was soooo impatient I was desperate to get to WCI as fast as possible so I could Suffer LMAO

So um yeah the Sanlu hyperfixation has me by the throat and doesn’t plan on letting me go anytime soon. Sorry for the rant. I can’t shut up about them Ever

Howdy i love your art and i was curious what are the characters roles in you recent zosan au. Sanji and nami are dancers, zoro some important client of some kind, but like who are ace and luffy in this

I imagine this au like this:

The reference (base of the story) was a very famous TV series (magnificent century), so if you know it, you can immediately understand a lot:

Sanji, Nami, Vivi and others are dancers, concubines in the possession of an influential person (I do not know who from the characters lol)

Crocodile is their mentor, gives instructions, and hires all concubines. Everything goes by his order

Zoro is an influential traveler, a bounty hunter. He came to visit a friend (?) or just an honorable person.

Luffy and Ace are ones of the many employees of this house. Cleaning, laundry, training, guards, hunting, etc is their job.

I don't think I'm going to continue this au (I actually created it for fun and didn't think there would be anything further than the first couple arts)

But for the sake of just expanding a lil bit the universe of this au:

1. I wanted to add Usopp as Sanji's best friend. He with Nami and Vivi could dissuade /insist on continuing the relationship with Zoro/ Ace

2. Among the readers' ideas, I liked that Crocodile has feelings for Sanji. (He may be hiding it, but he is secretly jealous Sanji to any guest he need to spend time with)

3. I'm sure Sanji is not the only guy among the dancers. Who are the others? Maybe you can find out in the future.

4. The seed for the next chapter: Hiyori is waiting for Zoro around the corner, and when she encounters him "accidentally" asks to take her to the concubines' room. Zoro agrees to let the situation with Sanji out of his head, but he can't do it. Along the way, he doesn't even listen to the conversation. They run into Sanji at the door. Hiyori does not miss the chance to openly flirt with Zoro in front of Sanji. Sanji immediately runs into the room, being in shock.

5. Double jealousy? Perhaps... hehe

6. From the very beginning, I wanted to add Doflamingo, Law and other characters, but they need suitable roles. So far, I have neither ideas nor the desire to add them.

Croco and Mihawk work long hours so their kids (Luffy, Zoro, Perona) have to wait for a few hours until they're picked up by their parents. The school doesn't have school buses bc I said so (no I am not cruel it's just out of my budget /j). So Buggy takes the responsibility to keep them comfortable and entertained while they wait. Croco and Mihawk meeting this charming (and clown looking) blue-haired guy and they start courting him. Shanks gets dragged in on the courting bc of Luffy. Also he was already courting Buggy. I didn't write their process of courting I basically skipped and went,, their wedding will take part in a Goth castle. And the design are all sunshine and rainbows (literally). Sanji, Usopp, Nami, Vivi, Zoro and Luffy being in a class along with other kids. Franky, Robin, Jinbei and Brook are in higher classes. Chopper is atom. Not here in the world yet. Teacher!Buggy sounds so cool, you know that he's the flashiest and maybe one of the craziness of the things he'll do to get his students good things that will boost their learning. He knows that every kid might not have the same learning paths as others.

How many classes does this man teach? Who knows, too many for how much he gets paid. All teachers needs to get paid more.

I would think Jinbei and Brook being other fun teachers in the school, like Tom could be as well!
