Two champagne glasses of alcohol-base thirium clinked together as Markus and Connor took their sips of the refreshing liquid, both characters dressed well in clean and fashionable, suits

"I'm so glad you were able to make it for the festivities, Connor."

"How could I have forgotten? With your constant nagging and whining, it would be more surprising for me not to go."

Markus rolled his eyes playfully as he lightly punched Connor on his arm, the former deviant hunter only smirked as he held his own arm from the hit.

It was the both of them standing to the side of a well decorated inside venue, an only-android party(with the exception of a few human journalists for the media) for the one year celebration of the successful Android Revolution. It's crazy how the two friends having banter with each other used to be at opposite sides, even attempting an assassination.

Markus leans against the velvet like wall, swishing his glass around.

"I wasn't nagging you. I only kept reminding you since you haven't had much of a break recently from your police service. Also, congrats on the promotion as sergeant."

Connor made the same gesture as well, leaning next to Markus against the wall, his body language facing towards the RK200 to pay attention.

"Thank you," Connor smiled at the compliment before retorting Markus' side of the story. "But even so it's unnecessary to be given 3 reminders every two days."

"You're exaggerating."

"My statistics are proven to be highly accurate."

Markus' face grew bored as he groaned dramatically, only causing further amusement to the RK800. "I thought you dropped that habit."

"You know very well that I take pleasure in reading calculated numbers." The former deviant hunter shook his head and took another sip out of his drink.

A scoff was made by Markus from how ridiculous he found the reason to be. The two admired the sea of androids that interacted, engaged, and were seemingly having a great time. Neither of them had much in mind on what else to discuss but enjoyed being in each other's presence.

Markus felt comfortable in making a change to be able to be in the position he's in right now. No matter how hard it can get to deal with the press, angry protesters, and ignorant members of the government he's eternally grateful to bring his people to justice. But just because he is happy, doesn't mean he can go without some doubts and insecurities.

Just like how Connor feels right now.

He does want to be here, but in the moment he felt like he was suffocating just a little.

Connor never removed his LED because he was rather proud of his android nature, but one of the few cons of keeping it was that it can easily tell someone that he's processing something.

Markus quickly noticed the yellow color change on the LED and checked in on him. "Hey, you okay?"

Connor blinked repeatedly when he heard Markus, the LED staying the same as Connor struggled to convey his thoughts.

"It's just..." He trailed off as he continued to look at the crowded room before them. "I never thought I'd ever see myself here."

Markus tilted his head in confusion but interest. "Go on."

Connor's fingers tightened slight at his glass but relaxed himself once he made a deep breath.

"Do you ever...doubt yourself?"

"Sometimes, yeah. Why?"

"I can't find an understanding to why I think this way. Deviancy has brought me my own freedom, but I'm still filled with regret."

The gaze on Markus' face soften when Connor admitted that openly. He knew that the android struggled with making his own decisions at times due to past dependency on his programming although time has gone by.

Markus placed a hand on Connor's shoulder, encouraging him that it was alright to talk, to which Connor nodded his head and continued.

"To be here is a grand privilege. I'm only here because you were kind and helped me to open my eyes in order to go through my internal barriers," His brown eyes grew solemn, his fingertips tapping the half-finished glass as the blue liquid moved along the vibration.

"Sometimes, though, I still feel trap. No longer by an installed force but my own self."

Markus' hand slinks down from Connor's shoulder, listening to the words of conflict. He sighed and offered what he could.

"Connor, if I'm gonna be honest, I know what that's like. All that talk about being trapped by your own self, I get it."

Connor's LED finally changed to blue when he was informed of that news, his eyes were brought back some familiar light to it. "Truly?"

Markus nodded his head firmly, his lips pressed together for a second.

"I'm scared of myself too. I had managed to come all this way after winning something huge for our people and at the same time, I'm scared of bringing it all back down again. Sometimes, seeing other deviants leads me to think that, 'What if they had done a better job than me?' A better job at leading, and a better job at knowing what to do."

Leaning in closer, Connor held onto each sentence to Markus' mini speech as he kept on talking.

"I may have not gone through the same experiences you've went through, but I do know that we both are insecure of ourselves at certain points."

Connor only shrugged in response, unable to find how else to add on to what Markus is trying to say. Markus only gave a tender smile, his dual-colored eyes never leaving the cocoa colored ones.

"If you ever get those thoughts again, I'm always here to talk. I can try giving advice or if you just need to vent, no matter the case, you can talk to me."

Connor darted his eyes around to think about that suggestion before raising his head up again and showing some acceptance. "That would be appreciable."

"No problem."

Before they could progress with their exchange, a voice from afar called out to Markus. "Markus! Can you c'mere for a sec?" It was North and she had been in a really good mood tonight with how cheerful she sounded.

Markus turned to her then back at Connor to see if it would be alright. Connor gestured his hand to North, showing that he was fine with the decision.

With approval, Markus was just about to leave.

"Wait."

But he was stopped.

Markus turned around to Connor with a puzzled look as Connor set down his drink on one of the nearby tables.

"What is i-"

Connor had suddenly walked up really close in front of Markus has he examined his torso.

'When did it get hotter in here?' Markus thinks to himself

Connor raised his hands to the tie that Markus wore and adjusted it for him with careful movement.

This considerate motion made Markus feel a heavier thump to his thirium pump.

Connor then made sure the tie was on securely, his eyes making contact with Markus' blue and green ones.

"It was getting loose."

Markus swore he could see the faintest smile at the corner of Connor's mouth. He was baffled with what was happening.

"I- uh-"

He cleared his throat from the weird static sound that came out. "Thank you, Connor."

Connor chuckled breathlessly before removing his hands slowly from Markus' tie. "You're welcome, Markus."

Markus left Connor swiftly when given the opening. His thirium pump was still reacting weirdly. He managed to make it to where North had called him from.

She had seemed to witness all of that from the distance because she quirked an eyebrow up at Markus and asked, "What was that?"

"Nothing..." Markus avoided eye contact with her.

North stared at him skeptically. "Mhm..."

Unbeknownst to Markus, his face had shown a slightly dark blue on his cheeks.

Not like he needed to be told that.

A bunch of character sheets + ink sketches for my Anim 275 class at SCAD! Our assignment was to adapt a fable/fairy tale, and I picked Tamamo-No-Mae after being inspired by a song sung by the J-Pop group Wednesday Campanella!

While I don't think I'm actually going to develop this into a short film, I might use these concepts for some other projects

They walk to the class, when they see the inside is dark.

Yukiharu: Don't know. Let's just walk in. *Open the flashlight of his phone.*

A faint pink breeze throws them into their seat as a figure can be seen.

Epel: Gah! Ouch, that fucking hurt man!

Shuake Fics from 2024 that Give Bonafide ✨SHUAKE CLASSICS ENERGY✨🙏🏻

I've been seeing the frankly untrue sentiment that there are "no good Shuake fics out there right now". The purpose of this post is to not only provide evidence against that sentiment, but uplift fics from this year that, in my opinion, are just as good as any of the Shuake classic fics we might find at the top of AO3.

A post-canon fic where Akiren and Akechi explore a new and deadly Mementos, and an encounter gone wrong forces the tension between them to the surface. I have always loved this author's writing style. Their prose and technique is 10/10.

Rahhhhhh I just finished this one so it is extremely on my mind but holy shit!!! What a classic!!! A early 2000s Band AU in which Akiren and Akechi discover their ship tag on Livejournal. Full of fun LJ references and callbacks to the fandom scene of the time. It was such a fun ride with incredibly engaging prose from the author.

Listen man, campanellaes is one of those authors where every work of theirs is gonna be a banger. True blue is no different. A very unique post-canon story where Akiren and Akechi are in the Shadow Ops together and we watch as their relationship slowly develops. If you're looking for a sweet yet hilariously chaotic shuake dynamic this is the one for you.

Oh my god NEXXIS is on a roll this year and this is not the last time you'll see this author on the list. Essentially Akiren jokingly mentions to Akechi that he'll finger him and Akechi devolves into gay panic for 6,000+ words. It's so incredibly delightful, hot, and full of fun introspection that I just adore.

My god, what a wholesome fic AAHHHHH ok ok so basically it's a found family fic in which Sojiro and Akechi scheme with his friends to renovate Akiren's attic bedroom. It's incredibly sweet and just downright adorable at times. Definitely the Feel Good Fic of the Year(tm) for me.

A post-canon reunion longfic that just OOZES Shuake Classic energy. Five years after P5R, Akiren and Akechi reunite after Akechi is released from prison. Lots of fluff, wholesomeness, and healing ensue.

This author is truly the master at writing engaging Shuake fics. A Twitch streamer AU in which a glitch streamer Akiren finds a chess streamer with zero viewers and simps. Hard lol. A great ride from start to finish, and despite being 35,000+ words it feels like it ends too quickly!

Another banger from nexxis. An ABO fic in which Akiren accidentally discovers Akechi is an omega. I just love the way their dynamic is written here, and it's also incredibly :fire: :fire: :fire:

But Live Another Day by @tomiokajen

This is the one exception to the completed fic rule because I've beta'ed it lol. However I think it deserves to be on this list as, much like a first spring, it oozes Shuake classic energy. A post-canon reunion fic that explores Akechi as a wildcard. The way Akechi is characterized in this fic is masterclass, and truly shows that the author has a very good understanding of him. I also love the OC links in this fic. Has classic energy through and though and I can't recommend it enough.

Old Habits Die Loved by @malevolentmango

Technically written in 2023 but I read it in 2024. I love fics where Akiren is in need and Akechi has to step up to help him, and this one does that in spades. An established relationship fic in which Akechi has to do some Scooby-doo style detective work to figure out what's been going on with Akiren. Lots of delicious hurt/comfort involved.

Campanella Bandini

Campanella is one of Lucia's friends, and he's a boy. Campanella came to be under the protection of the Mare Famiglia when he accidentally took the life of some thugs trying to threaten him with a gun. Campanella is a bright boy, who ends up studying medicine. His parents, which were the ones the thugs were after cause they borrowed money from mafia, left him and never came back so he's basically an orphan. Lucia quotes him as having been "cute and obedient" when he was a child, unfortunately, he studied medicine under Serena and that kind of screws up a person. He's not gay, he just loves Giovanni.

Her full name is Adelina Angelina Lucia De Santis, and she's the one that started all of this. In the very far far away 2012, I only had Lucia (back then known as "Luce") as my OC.
