these 3 characters seem extremely minor , but to us , they put so much more into story .

in Galactic Railroad book , Zoel is dog mention by Giovanni how it follows him around everywhere , if interpret name as Zoel , it means "life" , (Sauer mean sour , our view is that it misinterpretation of name meaning and intent , even if reading as either "zoel/sauer" is true , "ザウエル - Zaueru" )

as well as in movie , bellflowers arent included at all while it mentioned in book , which has significance as Campanella's name mean "bell maker" , and genus name for bellflower is "campanula" , "little bell"

in Ugly Duckling , duckling briefly takes shelter in home with cat and hen . they make fun of duckling for not being able lay eggs or purr (cannot be useful in their view) . duckling tells them he want see world and they laugh at him , and he leaves anyways to see very world
