Anyway, if Merlin was set in modern times, Arthur would have called Merlin his “gay awakening”.

Honestly the more you know about the family trees in Arthurian legend the funnier the family tree in the show becomes.

Things I like to think would happen if the Knights and co knew about Merlin’s magic (and merthur):

• “Merlin, can you do the fire trick with the dragon again?”

• “I’m not drying your clothes, Gwaine. You chose to go in the river fully clothed, you pay the price.”

• Merlin making them flower crowns and them bullying Arthur into wearing his

• Everyone asking him if he can make them fly

• Merlin pretending he can talk to the horses and making them think him and the horses are shit talking

• Him and Gwen pretending to do chores together but really he magicked it and they’re just having a nice evening

• Merlin and Morgana having lessons in the forest while the knights what over so none one spits them

• “No, I can’t read minds.” One of the knights, “oh, okay.” *realises they didn’t ask that out loud.* “WAIT-“

• Merlin and Arthur cuddling together at night accidentally and everyone knows because Merlin’s magic is safe now and leaves a patch of flowers under him when he sleeps

• Merlin creating plants with his magic so he doesn’t have to spend so much time gathering herbs for Gaius

• the Knights and Gwen taking this a step further and making a garden of herbs for him and Gaius

• Arthur realising they should have done that years ago and putting the royal funds into it despite Uthers annoyance

• Morgana and Merlin being taught how to fight with swords (even if she already knows a fair bit) so they can protect themselves with something other than magic

• the two of them then teaching Gwen because they both think she’d be an amazing knight

• Gaius having a mini heart attack whenever he hears Merlin and the Knights talking about magic

• them realising he’s insecure about his healing magic because it’s the hardest form of magic and being sure to praise him whenever he does it or any other form of healing

• After Merlin and Arthur finally get together, his magic doesn’t want to leave him alone and so when he does his little fire show for them it instantly goes to Arthur and the others get jealous

• after an attack and Merlin nearly gets hurt, Arthur ‘forces’ his Knights to be sworn to Merlin with Merlin’s staff and so technically, they’re also his Knights and Merlin is a royal

• The druids instantly knowing this and calling him a prince

• the knights going along with it

• After a while the Knights (who know how) begin to teach the Druids things like reading and currency

• everyone teasing Merlin by saying his magic has a crush on Arthur despite the two being together already

• he blushes every time

• Merlin openly enchanting their amour to be stronger and magic proof

• him giving Gwen and Morgana matching necklaces that are also enchanted that they keep hidden

• all of them are so impressed with his power but then they are just straight dumfounded because like… how the fuck did he keep this hidden for so long?

• Growing strawberries once he sees how much Gwen loves them and they are really rare

• tricking the Knights into thinking he can talk to ghost just to laugh at their faces

• Just constantly embarrassed by the Druids cause they see him as a god or, as the knights point out, as a king and the Knights decide that means he’s Arthur’s wife and Queen of Camelot

• Arthur making this worse by saying, “Queen or Consort?”

• Merlin flicking water in his face despite none being near them

I love the trope where Arthur as King has a set of rules or a list of what Merlin is allowed to do, what he's NOT allowed to do, and what HE (and all those who adore Merlin) will do to anyone who harms Merlin. King Arthur can now show his protective side openly and will throw a gauntlet down if someone other than him insults Merlin.

I imagine he'd make it a law that Merlin will sit on his lap, so on his throne you got Merlin sitting prettily on Arthur's lap, the golden king smug asf whilst cuddling Merlin 😉

Hi !! I finally come with the promised comic 😁 I started it several months ago, and although there have been days when I haven't known how to move forward, I have had a lot of support from @ineffablesbooks GRACIAS AMIGA!! We are both big fans of Merlin and especially of the INCREDIBLE fanfic that @katherynefromphilly wrote. I don't know what I would have done after finishing s5 without this story, so thank you so much, I love how you write Merlin and Arthur. Anyway, I hope you like this comic as much as I liked doing it. Stay tone, because this is only the first part!! So in a few days there will be part 2, I also don't rule out making more mini comics of other scenes in the future, so wait for it, I hope you like it and enjoy it!!

The thing about Merlin and Arthur saying " we could habe been friends/get along if things were different" that gets me really is the double meaning/duality of this statement.

Becaue this line does not only apply to their positions, as one is king and the other is a servant, but it also embeds the secrety that surrounds merlin's true identity. If things were different, Arthur could have known Merlin, truly and completely, for who he is, what he represents and all he has done for Camelot, for Albion, for their friends, for Arthur. No more lies, no more fear, no more misunderstandings, no more angst. UGHHH their story just breaks me and the brainrot this show causes is too real. SEND HELP!!!

morgana and arthur have a sleepover when they’re teenagers and morgana brings out this summoning spell and arthur is all “magic?!?!?! :o thats wrong we cant do that” and morgana just says “pussy.” and then arthur is helping her set everything up. they light the candles and chant in the old tongue and then BOOM a figure appears but it’s not the mighty god emrys the text talked of, it’s just a boy a couple of years younger than arthur, scared and confused, who answers to the name merlin rather than emrys. while they’re arguing, merlin goes stiff and is like “do you hear that?” and then trails out of morgana’s chambers in a trance and obviously morgana and arthur follow him and they end up way beneath the castle where theres a fucking dragon???? now emrys, the once and future king, and the witch are chillin w a dragon and talking about destiny. none of them are happy about this btw

I have this idea that if merlin had become blind in anyway from a monster or accident that he'd still be able to see magic. Like he could see everyone still walking around bc everyone has some magic inside them due to being able to learn. He'd be able to see animals magical auras or signatures, he'd also be able to see the dragons and people ofc. He'd have a difficult time seing Uther due to his hatred of magic diminishing his aura. But the person he can see the most, the brightest and most beautiful and just right aura would be arthurs. Considering they're two sides of the same coin. So if merlin had come to camelot blind, people would not know or find it strange considering he can dodge and move about and look into people's eyes while talking. Merlin can basically see everything, besides anything man-made, like walls and stairs. So he can see every tree in the forest and so on. So people think he's clumsy on purpose since he often trips on stairs or walks into walls.
