So as of recently, I've been scrolling down into videos about Disney villains in general and I saw someone comment that Emperor Belos/Phillip Whittebane is basically just "not horny Frollo".

Like yeah, they cracked it. They're pretty similar. Just years apart.

Soo. For fun, I made some memes about the similarities and differences between the two. (One of which includes Caleb).

OK, one more.

Basically the story of the Whittebane brothers:

Weak joke theory time:

Hunter is absolutely autistic. Chances are Caleb was also autistic then (and Philip was a filthy neurotypical)

Caleb had a kid with Evelyn thanks to his autistic rizz and passed the genes down if Evelyn wasn't also neurodivergent (she brought the adhd)

Long story short the Clawthorne sisters are neurodivergent, Eda is giving audhd (autism and adhd) and Lilith is giving autism

Thinking about if the theory about how “on the Boiling Isles, exchanging jewelry is how to show one’s engaged/married” then it’d be funny if Caleb was the one to accidentally start that. Imagine that he’s with Evelyn and is like:

“Evelyn, I have something for you and I hope that you’ll accept it.”

Caleb places a thimble into Evelyn’s hand.

“Thanks….and why are you giving this to me?”

“Oh, well in the human realm, at least in my people’s beliefs, when a man intends to marry a woman then he gives her this as a way to ask her for her hand in marriage.”

“Oh, I see.”

Evelyn takes off her necklace and puts it around Caleb’s neck.

“Wha-what is that for?”

“To show that we’re engaged. We’re supposed to exchange jewelry right?”

“Well I wouldn’t say jewelry since it’s frivolous and connected to paganism and—“

Caleb stops mid sentence as he watches Evelyn use her magic to reform and mold the thimble into a weaved ring.

“There, now it won’t fall off. Oh I can’t wait to tell my family the good news and show off this new ring!”

“…yeah, that works too <3”

I hope we get definitely confirmation about marriage practices on the Isles but for now the concept of exchanging any type of jewelry sounds like something that would work on the Isles considering the various types of demons and witchlings wouldn’t always work with rings. Tho’ I could also see Luz giving Amity a wedding ring as well as a piece of her jewelry (the wedding ring likely a family heirloom or something)

Yeah, we don't have much information on Caleb, but honestly..I don't mind very much?

Was he a good person who tried to do what was right no matter what? Was he a brainwashed puritan who eventually managed to break free of his preconceived notions? Was he a flawed person who left his baby brother behind under the impression that he was doing the right thing? Was he a selfish man who abandoned his only family for a girl and magic?

...Does it matter?

Caleb Wittebane is long dead at his brothers hands and resurrected a million times into 'better' versions of himself that weren't really him at all.

We don't get to know what he was thinking, what he was feeling, what exactly he did or why he did it. Caleb Whittebane is dead and has been for hundreds of years before we ever hear his name uttered, and dead men tell no tales.

Sure, we have crumbs from Phillip's- probably incredibly biased and inaccurate if we're being honest- memories and explanations of what happened as well as the legends passed on in the human realm, but we will never get to know who Caleb really was. That was taken from us just like it was taken from Evelyn and from their child when Phillip killed him and recycled his bones, and honestly? I'm glad for it. Sure, maybe it would have been nice to see more of him, and hell, maybe we would have if the show had time for twenty more adventures, but I think a lot of fans fail to consider that Caleb's hundred year absence may speak louder than his presence ever could have.
