I understand but I think that Cal was trying put this part of him in the past. Plus, we do see signs of it. For example, when Ty is having a hard time pitching, Cal tells him to picture his enemy in his mitt.
I’m still not totally sure if I bought this argument. I just wanted one masculine man who didn’t have anger issues though…
I genuinely don't understand coach Cal's sudden anger issues in the second season: In season 2 he seemed perfectly fine and relatively well balanced, and Now i feel like i missed some seed scenes foreshadowing his anger issues, can someone help me find those moments??

@x-violentdelights Cal to Maddox Location: Vervain
It had been a pretty good night or that could just be that Cal was actually getting used to his new normal. To the vampire’s credit, Ivar’s protection really didn’t interfere with much of anything. And if it was going to, it was probably for a good reason. “Cheers,” he commented to the girl that brought him a drink and set down a napkin, he looked at it and then apologized because he just saw his friend walk in. That friend being more of an acquaintance but the incubus still practically slid his way over to Maddox, just minding his own business and probably here to see his girlfriend, to avoid the fan. “Sorry,” he said, opening up the napkin and looking down at some scribbles that looked like they wanted to be a name and number, “You know, I don’t think it would be a bad idea if they started cutting some of these people off.”

Starter from Maddox to Cal ( @xbeautifulmonsters )
The night was lingering, or perhaps it only felt that way as the out of place warlock waited patiently for Cal Sterling to appear, which, with the help of Calypso and her ways, would hopefully be away from prying eyes and ears. There wasn’t exactly any easy way to ask an almost complete stranger for their blood, for a great deal of it and to help in the resurrection of a person they didn’t know in the slightest, though, Maddox had never done subtle per-say; the truth, even blunt, was better than beating round the damn bush. “Not a groupie.” Maddox voiced again to one of the stage crew who had walked by him again and again, side eyeing his presence before he noticed Cal appearing. “Got a minute?” the necromancer asked the other male, pushing himself off the wall that had been holding his tired frame up, trying his best to seem -- well, seem other than how he usually was seen by others, he supposed.Â

*oliver twist voice* Please Cal, may I have some more sentences
🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟 🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞🪞
Giving you all the porridge (or whatever it was) that you ever ask for.
69 for 🧟:

Bobby nods. “I know this is difficult. But we’ll get through it. Like everything else.”
Hen takes a deep breath. Karen squeezes her hand.Â
“We will,” Hen agrees.Â
“And what about the radio?” Athena asks. “It’d be nice for two more sets of hands and their firearms to come back.”
Maddie nods. “It’s transmitting. Christopher thinks he got the message right.”
“Good,” Athena says. “Then we’re doing everything we can.”
“Not quite everything,” Bobby says.Â
Everyone looks at him.Â
“I’ve been saying I wanted to build a fence around this place for months,” Bobby says. “Time to bump up that priority level.”
▪️▪️▪️
It’s been a long day. Athena is exhausted. She would like to spend time with her kids. And yet, for whatever reason, as they afternoon creeps towards evening, she finds herself outside the library with Bobby, planning a damn fence.Â
Well, it’s not a damn fence. It’s a smart fence, in all reality. Athena knows it’s a good call. Even a few seconds of delay in an intrusion could save them, if it comes to it. Though, this will be no quick project. Their would-be assailants, if they exist and are coming, will be quicker.Â
“Don’t you think this will take too long?” Athena asks, walking Bobby form lines with ribbon tape.Â
“For this problem,” he agrees.
“This problem?” Athena echoes.
He nods.Â
“If this is true…” He says while he works. “If zombies are on the way out, and there is a power vacuum, then this won’t be the only threat this group faces.”
“Mmm,” Athena hums thoughtfully. “And you don’t think there’s actual hope out there to restore real order and justice?”
“I don’t know,” Bobby says. “Did we actually have that to begin with, or were we just comfy?”
Athena bristles a little. She had always thought the former. She had to, in her line of work. But she knows well enough that it’s not always the truth. It’s like two sensibilities are warring in her head, at this thought.
“Sounds a little nihilistic,” she observes.
“No,” Bobby shakes his head. “I didn’t say that.”
“Then what?” Athena asks.
Bobby sighs, stopping his work to look up at her. “Look, would I love it if, with a snap of my fingers, society was restored? Sure. There are things we’re all missing.”
“But?” Athena prompts.
“But…” His mouth twists a little. “But my priorities are the same as they were beforehand. With or without society.”
“And what are those?” She asks. She really does want to know.Â
“Keep this family alive,” Bobby says. “And do whatever good I can manage in the process.”
---
69 for 🪞:
---
“Buck,” Eddie says, slowing him down. “We’re going to be fine. I won’t give her milk.”
Buck inhales. “Okay. Thank you.”
“Good luck,” Eddie smiles at him. “It’s gonna go great.”
▪️▪️▪️
The meeting does go well, much to Buck’s relief. His adoption lawyer - a friendly woman named Tanya Maddox that Hen and Karen recommended - is hopeful about his case.Â
“Some judges are apprehensive about single-father households,” she advises him. “But we’re going to make sure you have the character witnesses you need if it comes to that. I wouldn’t worry.”
She says the whole process can take between six months to a year under normal circumstances. More reasons to be patient. But overall, it’s good. All good news. A year from now, she might legally be his daughter. A year from now, she might have a real name. Buck wants that for her. He wants that for him. He wants them to be a family, without conditions. It’s a little unnerving, how much he already wants it.Â
He checks his phone several times while he’s out. Eddie hasn’t called or texted. So obviously things are fine. Of course they are. Why wouldn’t they be? Obviously Buck didn’t doubt that they would be. But he has this image in his head that he’ll come home and the minute he’s through the door, Eddie will bolt like a frightened rabbit, and it’ll be months until he sees him outside of work again. Call it selfish, but he just misses his best friend. He wants him back around.Â
When he arrives home, though, it’s not to find any indication of Eddie even thinking about bolting. In fact, quite the opposite.
Buck walks through the front door to find three distinct things. One, the sound of laughter. Two - when he walks towards the kitchen - the sight of Eddie and Dove sitting at the table, playing cards. Three, the fact that the messy braids in Dove’s hair have been replaced with two, uniform french-style plaits that look almost expertly done.Â
“Do you have any threes?” Eddie asks.Â
“Go fish!” Dove smirks.Â
“Oh, darn!” Eddie makes a faux-groan of complaint that makes Dove snicker like she’s hoodwinked him. He sounds happy, though. He looks happy.
“Hey, you two,” Buck says, walking towards them.
“Buck!” Dove beams.Â
“Hey hey!” Eddie grins at him. “How’d it go?”
Something warm and fluttery spreads in Buck’s chest. Like, oh. What a very nice sight to come home to.Â
“Really well,” Buck says. “Uh, did you get her hair done?”
“Eddie did it!” Dove announces proudly.Â
It’s not lost on Buck how bright and confident she’s behaving right now. Not a hint of shyness.Â
“Eddie did it?” Buck asks, looking at his friend.Â
Eddie just shrugs. “I used to get Adriana ready for school in the morning. This is nothing.”

Offense Powers Cal On Opening Day
Defending Champs Start 2-For-2
SAN DIEGO – The No. 2 California men's water polo team put on an offensive clinic on the first day of the 2024 season, claiming a pair of wins over No. 6 UC Irvine, 20-14 and Claremont, 19-8 at the Triton Invitational.
With the departures of nine seniors from last year – including Paris Olympians Nikolaos Papanikolaou and Adrian Weinberg – the three-time defending NCAA champion Golden Bears headed into the year knowing there would be new opportunities on both sides of the ball, and that was reflected in the opening-day box scores.
Seniors Roberto Valera and Max Casabella picked up right where they left off in 2023, leading the way with seven and five goals on the day, respectively. Against the Anteaters, fellow ACWPC All-American Albert Ponferrada had a huge game with three goals and six assists, while George Avakian dominated in center with three goals and seven earned exclusions.
In the Bears' first game of the day, they cruised to a double-digit victory over CMS behind four goals from Valera and three by Casabella. Cal took a 5-1 first-quarter lead and outscored CMS 10-3 in the second half. Maddox Arlett, Patrik Kolak, Alex Oprea and Bende Pardi all secured braces in their Cal debuts.
Taking on its first ranked opponent of the year in the evening, Cal found itself trailing 10-8 at the half. The Bears turned things on right out of the break, as Ponferrada converted a power play and then found Avakian for an equalizer less than two minutes into the third. Ponferrada added two more assists before the quarter's end and Casabella scored twice to put the Bears up 13-12 heading into the fourth.
It was all Cal from there. The Bears started the final frame with an onslaught, getting a pair of quick goals from Valera and another two from Pardi and Arlett to go up 17-12 with 5:04 to go. Cal ended up outsourcing UCI 7-2 in the quarter after two late goals from senior Jake Howerton put the game to bed. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Riley Clansen – who played every minute in goal on Saturday – finished the game with seven saves.

@x-violentdelights Ivy to Maddox ( her place? )
Ivy's finger traced around the line of the pencil, carefully smudging it out for shading as she tilted her head down at the sketchpad. "There has to be something we can do though, right?" she found herself looking up and asking her brother, "To help him." It had been on her mind a lot since Maddox told her, showed her. And she couldn't stop feeling like there had to be a way to help Eddie with his power. There had to be. "What about, you know," she shook her head, avoiding saying the word the name despite them being in private, "Your new friend?" He had seemed nice and she bumped into Cal from time to time at Rune's now. Ivy sat up now and help up the sketchpad to show the drawing she had been working on of the raven with a little smile, "I could always ask Rune if he knows anything."

“There is a question about where everyone will stay,” he says. Dad’s face looks pained, all twisted up as if he’s afraid of delivering bad news. But with my family and friends here and safe? I’m not afraid of bad news anymore. I raise my eyebrows, hoping to convey that he should go ahead - I can take it. “You will have your space, of course, that’s a given. But about your friends…”
“They’ll stay with me.”
“What?”
(continued under cut)
I understand why he is confused, how it might be hard to match up this declaration with the child who always hid in her room when strangers came over, afraid of having to socialize. I can’t even remember the last time that I had a friend come and stay over - my family is too weird, and eventually I just couldn’t sit around and force my family to pretend to be normal any longer. And that little girl is still here, but Sienna and Moon-sik? They are more than schoolgirl friends.
“What about the baby?”
“Do we still have that pack and play from when Maddox was little?”
“Yes? But-”
“He’ll stay with me too. And his name is Robin, not baby - you can call him by his name.”
“Honey. You know that he must have someone missing him, right? He’s not your baby.”
“No, dad, what I know is that I pulled him out of a carseat when his dad was trying to get to both of us so he could fucking tear us apart. I know that I kept him safe with Sienna and Moon, and that he will suffer from being separated from us now. I know that I will have to give him up if we manage to find his mom out there, but I’m not holding my breath either. And I know that I will be with him for as long as he needs me to be, because that is what you do for your family.”
Never in my life have I spoken to either of my parents like this. Never have I been face to face with my father while he looks so stunned, and never before has it been because of something I said. I’m all worked up, pulling breath a little harder than need be, and I am staring right back at him until the moment that his face softens, frown on his face reaching his eyes.
“What happened to you out there, Cal?”

A United Front
Tay was sat in her English class bored when she decided she didn't want to be in the class anymore. She told her teacher she had a paper she needed to finish in math and got up and left. As she walked down the hall she saw her mom and Cal talking in the hallway and she walked over to them.
"Mom?" She asked and Maddie turned to her.
"Oh, hey, um, I've got to go." Maddie hugged her then smiled at Cal and left leaving Tay with more question's.
"See ya, Cal." Tay said after watching her mom walk away for a moment and went to turn to go.
"See-, yeah, no, that ain't happening, it's Coach Maddox." Cal chuckled as he walked the other direction
"Mhm." Tay chuckled
"I mean it." Cal pointed at her.
"Yeah." Tay said laughing walking the rest of the way down the hall.
%
After practice Maddie picked them up from and they drove them home. Katie and Kyle ran inside as Ty and Tay took their time to get out.
"Hey, guys, hang on a second." Maddie told them before they made there way up the stairs.
"Coach Maddox wants to meet with me and your father to talk about about the issues that you've been having at school." Maddie told them
"What? No. Don't tell Bill. Just you go, please? He'll ruin everything. It might already be ruined but, I'd rather not have my coach get yelled at by him. Dad thinks he's on top of the world and Cal is at the bottom…. He'll reem him.. for nothing." Tay told before turning around going inside. Tay went to the work room to start on homework and a couple minutes later Ty walking in.
"Hey." Tay said looking up at him before looking back at the computer
"He's not gonna be there." Ty said sitting down beside her.
"Good." Tay said before standing up, "I gotta go start reading the chapters for higgens class." Tay said patting the top of his head a couple times.
"I love you, little bro." Tay said walking out.
"It's only by two minutes!"Ty yelled her as she started her way the stairs laughing.
%
Right when Ty and Tay came home from school they started on their homework, knowing they both were very close to failing and Maddie and Cal had given them multiple warning's. Tay decided she was gonna start getting her crap together and she was gonna drag Ty long with her. By 9Â they both had passed out on the couch.
%
At lunch Tay sat by Ty when CeCe came up and started flirting with Ty. Tay rolled her eyes before Ty told her he had to put his and Tay trays up and they needed to get to class. Ty took his and Tay's tray to the garbage before they went to class.
Baseball Game
Tay watched as Ty ran out onto the field as they switch outfield. Tay ran over to him and they did there hand shake the best they could with Tay's broken arm. They hugged before Tay went back to the dug out. They were losing by two. And Ty was struggling because all that could be heard above everything else was Noreen and Bills yelling. Ty pitched the first ball and the guy hit the ball. Ty threw again and it was another hit by the other team.
(This is their handshake)
youtube
"Come on, bub, you got this!" Tay yelled wringing her fingers through the gate.
As Ty was about to pitch Noreen started yelling over everyone else. Tay looked over at Bill, he slowly looked up at her. She just stared at him, he was quick to look away before saying to Noreen to which she shook her head.
"Come on, Ty. Block out all the unnecessary things, that obviously bothering you." Tay yelled as she looked over at Bill and Noreen. Noreen looked at her and gave her weak smile.
"Come on, Ty. Focus." Cal yelled
"Tay, it doesn't help him when you embarrass him instead of help. Trying to call your father through her brother is not right." Cal told her making her sigh.
"That isn't my father. My father wouldn't have left his family to "do the right thing." By his mistresses. My father wouldn't have cheated in the first place." Tay told him, but nonetheless she didn't make any more jabs at her father through Ty cause she knew he was
"You got this, Bub!" She yelled giving him a smile that he threw back.
Ty pitched the ball and it was a foul. Noreen started yelling again.
"This time, Tyler, this time." Jackson said in a girly voice from the bench.
"Jackson. How about you shut the hell up." Tay turned to him. He laughed at her but he still shut up.
Ty pitched the ball and the batter hit it. Bill yelled as the guest team got a point. Ty got ready to pitch again and Noreen started to scream more. Tay looked over to see Cal staring Bill down. They both stared at each other before Bill looked away and said something to Noreen. Cal turned away and called a timeout. Cal and Tay walked out to the mound where Ty stood.
"Townsend, I know you got a lot messing with your head right now, but you gotta take a deep breath and try to push it all aside." Cal told him.
"You're rushing, and flying open on your front side. Just come to the plate a little slower, and stay a little bit longer on your back leg." Tay told him as Ty nodded.
"And then focus and fire." Cal told him
"Thanks, guys." Ty told them and Cal turned to walk away before turning back to him.
"And if it helps, just imagine the Face ID of your nemesis in the catcher's mitt." Cal told him hitting his shoulder before walking away.
"They're gone." Tay said and she watched Ty look at the stands and smile.
"Focus." Tay smiled before going back to the dug out. After that Ty was striking people out over, and, over, and over.
Pizza Parlor
Tay sat with Maddie and Katie coloring pictures when someone interrupted them.
"Hey, guys." Cal said causing them all to look up.
"Is this seat taken?" Cal pointed to the seat next to Tay in the four person booth.
"Sit with us, Coach! I don't want Kyle to come back because he always eats the pepperoni off my pizza." Katie explained to him as Tay slide out of booth for him to slide in then she sat down beside him.
"Oh,well, I assure you, I am no pepperoni thief." Cal told her.
"Good. Since I don't have to protect my pepperoni, can I go play in the arcade?" Katie asked
"You know, sweetie, I don't know that I have any quarters." Maddie told her looking through her bag.
"Oh, I always have quarters let me look." Cal told her as he reached into his pocket.
"Yeah. Here you go. Knock yourself out." Cal handed her a handful of quarters.
"Hey, what do you say?" Maddie asked stopping Katie before she left.
"Thank you, Coach." Katie told him the left.
"You're welcome." He smiled at her as Tay stood up.
"I'm gonna sit with the boys." Tay told them and they both nodded their heads and smiled.
%
At school CeCe said something about Kyle and Tay went and talked to her.
"Hey, question, do you know what happened to my arm?" Tay asked her.
"Yeah, I've seen Jacks face." CeCe said like it was obvious.
"Okay, well if you don't want that to be your face then don't talk about my brother." Tay said then walked away.
After school she was sat on the couch when Ty came in.
"Hey ms. Im gonna brake your face if you talk about my brother." Ty said sitting down beside her.
"Well, his name shouldn't even be in her mouth." Tay chuckled as Ty laughed.

Whumpril 2024 April 4th, 2024 SWAYING Cal Finlay (OC) Main Verse
He swayed when he got nervous. It was a habit he had shown since he was younger. Back then, instead of more proof that he was on the spectrum Cal Finlay had simply been told to stop. His brother didn't sway, their father had once pointed out, because he knew how to control himself. He knew how to listen. Yet, no matter how much he tried to stop the swaying, Cal found that it brought him peace.
Today was one of the days where he found himself swaying the most.
For The Love of Progress II was going to be a fun show for those in attendance. Cal had been so thankful that he had been invited. Progress Wrestling was, after all, where he had begun his wrestling journey. He may have been working in Japan with his brother these days, but his heart laid with the company where it all began. Had everything gone right, he would have been booked on the show, but Cal knew how important the match with the Grizzled Young Vets was for his friends Maddox and Harlow.
It was a surprise, then, to see his brother David make his way out to the ring with his partner Lyra Dawn at his side. Why was David here? When had he gotten here? Cal tried to recall if his brother had told him he would be coming to the show, tried to remember if David had been on his flight. In truth, they hadn't spoken much since David had lost the IWGP Global Championship the same night that Cal had become the NJPW Television Champion at New Beginning. David had never been interested in Progress. Why now?
Cal didn't realize he had been swaying on his feet as his brother began his tirade.
It started with the statements against Will Ospreay and Spike Trivet. Cal hadn't really cared about that. The war that had been waged against Ospreay and his men in the United Empire still played hell on his body, his bicep especially. And Trivet? Cal had never forgotten how the so-called sovereign lord had humiliated him by sending a straight jacket to his house during their feud. It wasn't until David had started in on his best friends, Maddox and Harlow, that Cal felt his anger building towards his brother. He couldn't stop the show like this, he couldn't say whatever he wanted about his home.
Cal's swaying turned into footsteps and he found himself standing across from David in the ring, microphone in hand. "Enough, David. Enough. These people don't wanna hear it. Maddox deserves his spot as champ."
David gave Cal a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, clapping a hand to his brother's shoulder, "There's that fire, Cal! I'm glad you're finally standing up to me! And here, in Progress, where I have such big news to tell everyone!"
Cal looked confused, brow furrowing in thought, "News?"
"War Dogs have needed some tuning up for a while, Cal," David gave an almost sad look in his brother's direction, "and you? Well...I just don't think you make the cut."
Cal didn't realize what was happening until the forearm caught him from behind. This group of attackers had some familiar faces among them, David and Lyra's partner Jace Sweeny mostly, but otherwise it was overwhelming to pick anyone out. The four men to one was too much, even if Cal threw some hearty punches. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening. Hadn't he been a good brother? Hadn't he always done everything he could to support David?
The biggest of the three, a muscular beast of a man with his hair pulled tight into a knot at the top of his head, took hold of Cal's arms as David paced back and forth. "Please..." Cal muttered a quiet plea, being forced to kneel on the mat as he was held firm, "We...we can talk about this..."
David stopped, holding a hand out to Lyra, who produced the shillelagh that he had been carrying for so long. He admired it for a moment, speaking plainly, "Look at me, Cal."
"David pl-"
David placed the shillelagh under Cal's chin, pushing his head up so that their eyes met, a sneer on his face, "I told you to look at me, Cal. Why can't you ever listen?"
As David slammed the weapon into his temple, Cal found himself swaying again.
This time it was in pain as he fell, unconscious to the mat.
