Kidd (Trolls OC)
BACKSTORY/CHILDHOOD: Kidd (also responds to Kiddo) is biologically a pop troll, but she was never raised amongst them. Her parents were eaten by the outcasted Chef (before the events of the first movie), but at the last minute, her mom managed to throw Kidd's egg far from Chef's view. Eventually, an unsuspecting Cloud Guy came across Kidd's egg. He wasn't that interested in it and disregarded the egg, throwing it behind him, only for the egg to crack upon impact and for Kidd to be born (prematurely at that). Realizing what he did, he kinda took responsibility for baby Kidd but was barely a reliable guardian. Cloud Guy never truly named her, resorting to just calling her kid/kiddo, so much so that she considered that her name.
Growing up, Cloud Guy would tell her how there were other trolls out there, to which she started to wonder where she belonged. She craved finding out what type of troll she truly was-- sure she was technically a Pop Troll, but she wasn't entirely sure if she could just accept that without experiencing all the different genres of music. Her curiosity only grew as she grew till eventually, at the age of 12, she decided to explore the world on her own. With some encouragement and support on Cloud Guy's side, Kidd made her way into unexplored territory, letting the winds guide her journey (she didn't have a plan, so she just went with the flow-- a trait she learned from C.G.). It was rough... to say the least. Even if she had lived moving around the forest, there was only so much a 12-year-old could do on their own. She was almost eaten by some creature, barely escaping. She lost a piece of her right ear during the escape. Despite all this, and more, she never lost sight of her goal. She kept brave and optimistic throughout her journey. Kidd enjoyed her time exploring, she wrote and drew everything down in a journal she was given. She was crafty and good at using her resources (and she was extremely lucky), so traveling alone wasn't much of an issue. Her friendly personality earned her the trust of a few nonhostile critters, specifically Poof, a Glowfly that had become quite attached to Kidd.
PERSONALITY: Kidd is a very brave and optimistic troll. She is friendly and easygoing. So much so that she is usually just going with the flow of whatever is going on around her. She is very open-minded and easy to talk to. On the other hand, she can be very reckless, blunt, and indecisive. She tends to mirror the behavior of others around her, which does make her much easier to approach in most cases, however, it comes to a point where she doesn't know if she's acting on her own accord or just copying someone else (She suffers from copycat syndrome and is mildly aware of this). She sometimes lacks social cues, but that's mainly from being raised by C.G and never staying in one place long enough to understand how others might truly feel. However, she does know when she oversteps a boundary and tries to fix it once she realizes it. She has a rather dry sense of humor and tends to find herself in mischief more often than not. She loves teasing others and seeing how far she can get without getting in trouble. She doesn't scare easily but has a deep fear of being outcasted. Despite that, she does not mind traveling by herself (mainly because she's on a mission to find a true home). She loves having company and is more of a listener than a yapper.
GENRES SHE HAS VISITED/EXPERIENCED...in order:
Funk (pre-first movie... 12-14 y.o...)
Country (pre-first movie... 14-15 y.o...)
SubGenres (pre-first movie... 15-16 y.o...Lost Map during this time)+ Latin Trolls and Folklore Trolls
Rock (post first movie... 16-18 y.o...)
Pop (pre-second movie... 18-19 y.o...)
*On her way to Symphonyville, she got there a bit late, seeing how it was in ruins, so not sure what to do, she went back to Pop Village. By the time she got there, the Rock Apocalypse had ended. She resides in the Troll Kingdom (based on the series: TrollsTopia), where she experiences all the main genres. She has yet to decide what type of troll she is.
TRIVIA:
was created more as a self-insert but eventually turned into an oc
is not part of the main cast whatsoever but reappears in the background as a minor background character (still knows/has heard of the main cast before, just doesn't stick around long enough to be considered one of them)
Despite having already seen most of the main genres of music, she continues to explore outside of the Troll Kingdom in search of other subgenres, and mainly to explore. She always goes back to the Trolls Kingdom after a few months or so. (still going through an identity crisis lol)
Calls Cloud Guy her Cloud Pa
When she dresses up to fit in, she dresses Poof up too
very touch starved, but never initiates it unless needed
Turned 20 after the events of the third movie
Due to the way she was born, she was much smaller than most trolls her age (but not as small as Smidge)
What she wore before she met the funk trolls was a makeshift top and pants from some of Cloud Guy's old socks
Carries with her Socko, which is just a sock with googly eyes that C.G made her when she was a child to keep her entertained.
Looks up to Queen Essence a lot, mainly because she was like her first mother figure
LIKES & DISLIKES: Likes:
Moving around (never in one place for too long)
Dressing up
Playing the Piano/Keyboard and Harmonica
Singing and Whistling
Listening to people talk
Bad jokes (usually sarcastic jokes, puns, or dad jokes) and doing high-five variations (got that from Cloud Guy)
Collecting Memorabilia
Puffalos- (and of course her little companion, Poof)
Hug Time (again, very touch-starved)
Dislikes:
Stotic/Serious people
Glitter (or anything flaky and hard to get off)
Feeling left out or seeing others get left out
THIS IS ALL FOR NOW THE FUTURE UPDATES WILL HAVE MORE INSIGHT INTO HER AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

A Derek Jarman film with music by Throbbing Gristle Derek Jarman used some of his 70s home movie footage to produce this wonderful piece of exploitational avantgarde cinema. Actually the original material has been slowed down to a speed of 3-6 frames, then Jarman added colour effects and the pulsating, menacing score by Industrial supergroup Throbbing Gristle The result is a piece of art not to dissimilar to Jarman’s painting work in using found footage as elements of memory and mind that resemble ideas reflected in the Cabala and in C.G. Jung`s writings about an archetypical past that is hidden in everyone of us. The first, In the Shadow of the Sun (1974-80), was originally put together by Jarman himself in 1974 from re-shot Super-8 material including footage from The Art of Mirrors and Journey to Avebury, amongst several others. The film was eventually blown-up to 35mm and premiered at the 1981 Berlin Film Festival. The focus on ritual, mysticism and obscure alchemical symbolism links it with the work of Anger. However, Jarman’s preference for the work of Carl Jung and the “white” magician John Dee, is quite distinct from Anger’s invocations of the “black” magician Alistair Crowley. – Jon Behrens
Extending the recent pagan theme, Ubuweb posts Derek Jarman’s determinedly occult and oneiric film, In the Shadow of the Sun (1980), notable for its soundtrack by Throbbing Gristle. This was the longest of Jarman’s films derived from Super-8 which he made throughout the 1970s between work as a production designer and his feature films. He never saw the low resolution, grain and scratches of Super-8 as a deficiency; on the contrary, for a painter it was a means to achieve with film stock some of the texture of painting. Michael O’Pray described the process and intent behind the film in Afterimage 12 (1985):
In 1973, Jarman shot the central sequences for his first lengthy film, and most ambitious to date, In the Shadow of the Sun, which in fact was not shown publicly until 1980, at the Berlin Film Festival. In the film he incorporated two early films, A Journey to Avebury a romantic landscape film, and The Magician (a.k.a. Tarot). The final sequences were shot on Fire Island in the following year. Fire Island survives as a separate film. In this period, Jarman had begun to express a mythology which he felt underpinned the film. He writes in Dancing Ledge of discovering “the key to the imagery that I had created quite unconsciously in the preceding months”, namely Jung’s Alchemical Studies and Seven Sermons to the Dead. He also states that these books “gave me the confidence to allow my dream-images to drift and collide at random”. The themes and ideas found in Jubilee, The Angelic Conversation, The Tempest and to some extent in Imagining October are powerfully distilled in In the Shadow of the Sun. Jarman’s obsession with the sun, fire and gold (which spilled over in the paintings he exhibited at the ICA in 1984) and an ancient mythology and poetics are compressed in In the Shadow of the Sun with its rich superimposition and painterly textures achieved through the degeneration “caused by the refilming of multiple images”. Jarman describes some of the ideas behind In the Shadow of the Sun:
“This is the way the Super-8s are structured from writing: the buried word-signs emphasize the fact that they convey a language. There is the image and the word, and the image of the word. The ‘poetry of fire’ relies on a treatment of word and object as equivalent: both are signs; both are luminous and opaque. The pleasure of Super-8 is the pleasure of seeing language put through the magic lantern.” Dancing Ledge p.129

Greetings! Welcome to my 2024 reading wrap up! Or my awards ceremony for books (and bookish media) I enjoyed the most. Looking back to my introduction to this post last year, I wrote that I'd try to write better reviews. I didn't do that. And I'd try to better remember what I read. I didn't to that either. Hmmm ... New year, new luck or something. Nevertheless, thank you to everyone who took time to look at my posts and read some of them! May the good books find you!
The one goal I accomplished 2024 was to read less (reading is fun but I have other things that need doing unfortunately), though it was not necessarily out of my own free will. I was just tired (work was annoying). I read a total of 64 books, including two graphic novels (not counting any manga), four non-fiction books and three audiobooks. 13 were borrowed from the library and 18 were sequels or spin-offs. I only DNFed one book and disliked two more (as if not to say, I hated them with a passion~).
The only pieces related to literature I hated more were two plays I saw: adaptions of Oscar Wildes's The Importance of Being Earnest and Eugène Ionesco's The Bald Soprano. I like both pieces but the adaptions had atrocious endings (The Importance of Being Earnest suddenly had vampires out of nowhere and The Bald Soprano had its final scene edited to 20 minutes of telling us how important love is ...) I didn't think I could walk out of a theatre that appalled and filled with hatred.
Worst Books:
Heir to Thorn and Flame (Ben Alderson)
Saint Sorrow Sinner (Freydís Moon)
Favorite Character: Patrick Collins (A Ferry of Bones & Gold/Soulbound series) (let's be honest, it's the same type every year)
Favorite Covers (or maybe: just give me a pretty illustration):
Tumblr media
Memorable Quote: "If it can learn to talk, then it can learn to be good." (The Prince of Nowhere)
Highest Emotional Investment (aka The cutest shit and please please please don't break my heart Award): Prince of Fortune
The Wildest:
A Ferry of Bones and Gold
Running Close to the Wind
Favorite Books:
Prince of Fortune (Lisa Tirreno)
Icarus (K. Ancrum)
The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen (KJ Charles)
Running Close to the Wind (Alexandra Rowland)
The Diablo's Curse (Gabe Cole Novoa)
Sorcery and Small Magics (Maiga Doocy)
A Ferry of Bones and Gold (Hailey Turner)
The Prince of Nowhere (Rochelle Hassan)
Cursebreakers (Madeleine Nakamura)
More Books I greatly enjoyed:
Into the Glittering Light (Kelley York)
The Boy who steals Houses (C.G. Drews)
This Fatal Kiss (Alicia Jasinska)
Tadek and the Princess (Alexandra Rowland)
Darker by Four (June CL Tan)
The Paris Affair (Maureen Marshall)
Legend of the White Snake (Sher Lee)
Upside Down (N.R. Walker)
The Prince's Assasin series (Ariana Nash)
Most used name: Dylan (at least 3 times)
Most used twist: The person I'm talking to is actually dead! (3 times)
Bonus! Queer story-focussed games I loved in 2023 and 2024:
Haven
I was a Teenage Colonist Exocolonist
All(?) the aro/ace books I read:
Dear Wendy (Ann Zhao)
Upside Down (N.R. Walker)
Ace Voices (Eris Young)
How to be Ace (Rebecca Burgess)
Don't let the Forest in (C.G. Drews)
The Eidolon (K.D. Edwards)
I want to be a Wall vol.3 (Honami Shirono)
Fallen Thorns (Harvey Oliver Baxter)
Little Black Bird & Tall White Tenement (Anna Kirchner)
That's it! While 2024 was not my best year, in terms of books I'm still content. I'm pretty good at picking the ones I will enjoy, so I usually have fun reading and what else would I want? I will continue to read in 2025 (not sure in which form I will share here yet), and I will continue to write! None of the aspec books really captured what I wanted to read, so I guess I have to start writing that myself. :'D Here's to hoping that you find the books you want and the books you need this year. Happy 2025!

" the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are . " — C.G. Jung
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
still finding my way back to Tumblr . not really sure what i'm doing here . i've a few other blogs that are more specific content : @adarkerdai explores the darker side of the psyche , is mostly b&w photography , often nsfw/nsft ; @dandelionsandcacti , as the name suggests , is dandelions and cactus and nature , and posts that i've saved elsewhere over the years and wanted somewhere online ; @thenextbuddha explores the importance of spiritual practice and community , self realisation and meditation & eastern philosophy .
AuDHD : " why do you need a label ? " — because there's a comfort in knowing you are a normal zebra , and not a strange horse ; because there's no finding community with other zebras if you don't know you belong ; because it is impossible for a zebra to be happy or healthy spending it's life feeling like a failed horse !

Books I want to read in 2025
Despite having a large physical TBR pile (cough cough... 50 books) and an even larger non-physical TBR, I'm still picky about what I'll read next. Here are a few books I for sure want to read in 2025 (in no particular order):
Don't Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews - I'd been following the development of this book for years and I was so excited when I got it on the day it was released last October, but I haven't been able to finish it in 2024 like I wanted. I'm currently reading it and I'm in love already, so I'm certain I'll at least finish this one!
The Pairing by Casey McQuiston - I loved Red, White & Royal Blue when I read it a few years ago, so when I saw the same author had just released a book about chaotic bisexuals, I had to get it immediately. I planned to read it last year, but didn't get around to it, so I hope I'll finish it this year.
Queen of the Depths by Elise Lindgren - The author of this book asked here on Tumblr if anyone wanted to read their book, and of course I said yes (because we need to support fellow artists!), so I'll be reading this as soon as possible. Expect some posts about it soon!
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller - It's my favourite book, and I want to read it again. (Especially after talking about The Iliad for an entire semester and discovering the Patrochilles community in Tumblr around the same time.)
Histories by Herodotos - Had a course about the Histories last year and I wanted to read a translation ever since. I started to read one in June, but didn't continue after 10 pages, so I want to try again this year.
The Iliad & The Odyssey by Homeros - Last semester I took a course about Homer and Vergil, so, again, I spent an entire semester talking about these two books and I think it's pretty shameful for me as a wannabe classicist to not have read these works in full. Not that interested in reading The Aeneid though (sorry Vergil...)
My overal reading goal is 20 books, so it looks like I should easily be able to read these seven, but I'm not sure I can get through the entire Iliad in a year...

Hello guys, I'm Frederick C.G. Borromeo, a former gamer and video game developer-turned-filmmaker and comic dubber. It's my first introduction in this Tumblr after all of my comic dubs that I posted many times without introducing yet, and yeah sorry about that because I'm very, very busy with these anyway. Call me Freddy or "Moonwriter" if you want, but it's the best that name "Moonwriter" is my current YouTube account, which means I did post many comic dubs as well as films and compilations. You may check it out below.

* * * *
We may think that an ending is our failure, but that identification with the process - taking most of the credit for it - oddly, may be a defense against the opus.
- Thomas Moore, Soul Mates: Honoring the Mysteries of Love and Relationship (Soulful Endings).
A person cannot direct his emotional life in the way he bids his motor system to reach for a cup. He cannot will himself to want the right thing, or to love the right person, or to be happy after a disappointment, or even to be happy in happy times. People lack this capacity not through a deficiency of discipline but because the jurisdiction of will is limited to the latest brain and to those functions within its purview. Emotional life can be influenced, but it cannot be commanded. Our society's love affair with mechanical devices that respond at a button-touch ill prepares us to deal with the unruly organic mind that dwells within. Anything that does not comply must be broken or poorly designed, people now suppose, including their hearts.
- Kits, Cats, Sacks, and Uncertainty: How the Brain's Basic Structure Posts Problems for Love. In A General Theory of Love, by Thomas Lewis, Fari Amini, and Richard Lannon (Random House 2000), p. 33.
Do we delude ourselves in thinking that we possess and control our own psyches, and is what science calls the "psyche" not just a question-mark arbitrarily confined within the skull, but rather a door that opens upon the human world from a world beyond, allowing unknown and mysterious powers to act upon man and carry him on the wings of the night to a more than personal destiny? It even seems as if the love-episode had served as a mere release, or had been unconsciously arranged for a definite purpose, and as if the personal experience were only a prelude to the all-important "divine comedy."
- C.G. Jung, Psychology and Literature, CW 15: Spirit in Man, Art, and Literature, par. 148.
