"i could win, i could lose"
written for day 8 of january of @jegulus-microfic with the prompt "converse" totaling 188 words
One of the things that James loved most about Regulus was his fashion taste; the way he was able to take the drab Hogwarts robes and turn into an impeccable outfit, and it was only something that Regulus could pull off too. Anybody else trying to wear what Regulus wore, and they would just look silly.
Today, Regulus sported his new high-top hunter green converse under his robes instead of the normal dress shoes. He also had some silver jewelry pieces adoring his neck and fingers. What James wouldn’t give to feel the press of these rings anywhere on his body, especially on the skin of his arse as Regulus fingers ent-.
No.
Regulus could do anything and James would probably kneel and worship at his altar. This ‘little’ crush on Regulus has definitely turned into something way bigger, and James needs to find a way to either a) fix it and date Regulus, b) fix it and date Regulus, or c) fix it and clear his feelings of Regulus - which will never happen - so James is relying on option a, and if all else fails, option b.
title from "stop waiting" by cigarettes after sex

I was gonna say this on twt to puppy but I got scared.
Yes, I support Wilbur.
more simple explanation without legal stuff:
Shelby has had many other allegations of abuse towards some of her other exes, more so when she couldn't gain to much money, and her abuse story has came up on the Wilbur one with it changing almost seemingly every stream she would speak about such topic. I understand the importance to support the victim but I personally believe the victim here is lying and doing it for the fame. But one they I don't find ok is people 1 nit supporting him and 2 on the same page speak about many sexual commentary about CC! NOT C!, when will has spoken before he is not ok himself being used for sexual desires, sexual art ,etc.
Law stuff:
Me though as someone who enjoys law, enjoys looking to legal cases, I found this as a time to do a legal study on it [might not be the best idea] but have looked into many different websites, many different youtubers, I have looked on practically every edge of the internet for more fact on this topic, I went as far as to asking my friends who don't support him if they know anything I don't, I went as far as going to the poll to cancel Shelby to find any facts, here's what I found with my own looking and the poll.
"« Article 188 - Libel (administrative violation) Article 189 - Insult inflicted in a public speech, or in a printed or publicly displayed work, or in the media (administrative violation) Article 203-1 - Illegal actions regarding information about private life and personal data. (administrative violation) Article 352 - Unlawful acquisition of computer information (Wilbur's personal data). (administrative violation) Article 355 - Violation of the rules for operating a computer system or network. (administrative violation) »Article 188 - Libel, administrative violation Article 203-1 - Illegal actions regarding information about private life and personal data. Administrative violation. Article 343 - Distribution of pornographic material (intimate photos and videos of Wilbur). Criminal article. Article 189 - Insult inflicted in a public speech, or in a printed or publicly displayed work, or in the media. Administrative violation. Article 355 - Violation of the rules for operating a computer system or network. Administrative violation. Article 352 - Unlawful acquisition of computer information (Wilbur’s personal data). Administrative violation or criminal for up to two years. The list could take a long time, believe me. Also, based on information on the Internet, libel in the United States is severely punished (up to $250,000 or 10 years in prison). Also, taking into account USA laws, Shelby violates: Chapter 2 Article 3 - Disrespect for Wilbur's Life Article 5 of Chapter 2 - Dissemination of Wilbur Soot's personal information without his mutual consent to these actions, thereby violating his integrity Article 11 of chapters 1-2 - disrespect for the honor and dignity of William Gold, distributing purely personal information and supporting doxxing towards Wil. Article 12 of Chapter 2 - condemnation of Wilbur Soot for his thoughts and beliefs, which have the right to be expressed"
I understand I post these alot but it is needed to be shown.

Hipponax & Misogyny in Ancient Greece
It has always been recognized that women in the ancient world were considered only a little higher in value than the man's cattle or plow and, sometimes, not even accorded that kind of respect. Examples of misogynistic attitudes toward women can be seen in certain works from Mesopotamia or Egypt but, in these cultures, women were generally respected and even enjoyed a degree of equal rights. In the work of the Greek poet Hipponax of Ephesus, however, misogyny reaches heights unequaled in any other writing.
Hipponax (c. 540 BCE) is known as a satirist with a “malicious disposition” but, if his work on women is supposed to be in any way funny, it misses the mark completely. It is little wonder that he was exiled from his hometown of Ephesus and finally died in poverty.
D. Brendan Nagle and Stanley M. Burnstein in their work The Ancient World: Readings in Social and Cultural History, include in their section, Husbands, Wives and Slaves: The Domestic Foundations of the Polis, Hipponax's piece, “If Only We Could Reproduce Without Woman…!” which clearly demonstrates the misogynistic attitude of the time and makes women seem unappreciated and worthless. There is not a single point in the piece where women are talked about positively. As stated, women were typically only seen valuable for their ability to reproduce and to maintain a household, but a modern reader cannot fully realize how poorly women were regarded until experiencing this piece of writing.
The poet Hipponax wrote, “Two days are sweetest for a woman, the day a man marries her and the day he carries her out dead”. This statement is extremely degrading, especially because these ideas and beliefs were kept for so long, even if they were not believed to the extent that Hipponax represents. Even to this day some men still do not believe in the equality between males and females.
Some modern readers may believe that this idea of the unimportance of women in ancient Greece is not that degrading because, in today's society, most people do not think this way. Such readers also may actually believe that the way women are described in the text is a good representation of the characteristics of women. The stereotypes of women may be correct to some extent, but they are extravagantly cruel and, further, anyone could think of plenty male attributes and relate them coarsely to the characteristics of animals representing men.
A break down of the female characteristics that are represented in the text is quite interesting. First the pig is used to represent women. Hipponax is describing a woman as a slob that has no respect for herself and her self-appearance. Then comes the fox, which is described as being sly and unpredictable and then, most offensive, is the dog, also known as the bitch. The dog is supposed to reproduce over and over again and is annoying because she is in everyone's business and always wants to be heard. Nobody can shut the woman up whether she is treated nicely or beaten.
Hipponax's depiction of woman as the sea is the most accurate representation of women, because a woman's moods and temperaments do tend to change quite frequently. This is the only representation that a modern reader might actually agree with. Yet this reasonable pause is brief and the list continues on describing a woman as the ass, weasel, horse, and the ape until reaching the conclusion that “Zeus made this the greatest pain of all: Woman”. The nicest `type' of woman this poet can manage is the bee but cannot help but say, “Good luck in finding such a woman” as he goes on to describe a woman who is only a “loving wife beside her loving man” who will bear “illustrious and handsome children”. For most people, however, the bee is synonymous with a sting.
However, thanks to the grim contrivances of Zeus, women are here to stay by man's side forever, no matter what, and Hipponax and those like him will simply have to deal with that.

Animation Night 188: Gisaburo Sugii and his cat films
Let me introduce you to a fellow.
Gisaburō Sugii, born 1940, is one of the oldest school animators still working in the industry. His early filmography is something like a history of anime, or at least MushiPro: he started on Hakujaden [AN149] (where he did inbetweens), but he was one of the leaders of the Toei exodus over the rubbish working conditions and union busting (Sugii's close friend Rintarō was among the first to follow him), especially when Tezuka appeared on the animation scene with a place to land.
So from the earliest days of Astro Boy/Tetsuwan Atom, Sugii was a core Tezuka guy. (Thanks as ever to Matteo Watzky for presenting such detailed histories in English!) He helped clean up Tezuka's rough animations in an early form of the layout system, moving to his own satellite studio, worked on all sorts of projects. In fact, we saw a number of them when we watched Tezuka's short fims on Animation Night 83. For example, Sugii animated the moth in Tales of a Street Corner.
Before too long, Astro Boy was wrapping up, and the time came for Sugii to direct his own series: this was Goku no Daibōken and in the words of Matteo Watzky, it represented "a complete and unconditional rejection of everything Mushi - or rather Tezuka - had done so far" - gags over story, extremely limited animation. Adapting Tezuka's manga version of Journey to the West, the project had some rather grand ambitions:
It was rather in the writing and direction. Sugii was extremely ambitious: not only did he want to do a complete break with what Mushi had done before, he wanted to broaden the general “animation culture” in Japan [14]. He therefore focused entirely on the gags, trying to make them all as absurd as possible and breaking all sense of narrative continuity. This was the reason he had chosen Boku no Songoku in the first place: the road trip structure made it possible to completely change the setting each episode and make things different each time [15]. He refused to compromise on anything and was an extremely harsh director: he himself admitted how many conflicts he had with scriptwriters and storyboarders, whose work he kept rejecting until it had lost any semblance of sense or continuity [16].
Goku no Daibōken's story touches on another major figure of anime history: Osamu Dezaki (AN95) appears here as an episode director, though you'd likely not recognise his work - he closely followed his mentor Sugii's wacky style. Unfortunately, the show did not really do much to broaden anything, and was pretty roundly rejected by audiences, and even Tezuka himself publicly said it was too avant-garde and needed to change and the show ended up a sore memory for everyone involved.
But Sugii did not quit, and continued to work with the increasingly ailing Mushi Pro up through Belladonna of Sadness (AN69). This last-ditch effort was not enough to save the troubled studio (a story told elsewhere, check Watzky's articles for a very detailed version) and MushiPro went under. So, coming into the 70s, Sugii left the anime industry to go travelling.
But not forever.
Now, let me introduce you to a book.
Night on the Galactic Railroad (銀河鉄道の夜, Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru) - written in 1927, and published posthumously in 1934 - is a classic Japanese fantasy novel by Kenji Miyazawa in which two boys go on a strange journey across the galaxy. It soon becomes apparent that the train that the boys ride on is kind of a psychopomp train. It has that fascinating blend of early science and odd religious overtones you often get in novels from the early 20th Century, with such themes as the difference between Buddhist and Christian ideas of heaven, as well as all sorts of odd adventures.
It does not star anthropomorphic cats. But then again, it doesn't say anywhere that its characters aren't anthropomorphic cats, right? If you're Gisaburō Sugii, that's enough!
In the early 80s, Sugii returned to Group TAC, a studio largely consisting of former MushiPro staff, full of memories of travel. He started out directing adaptations of the baseball manga Nine, but soon he ended up directing an cataptation of Night on the Galactic Railroad, which came out in 1985.
Jokes aside, the book is deliberately ambiguous about what its characters look like, so Sugii came up with the cat thing as a way to preserve Miyazawa's intent. His approach to direction heavily emphasises the landscape, embedding the characters in dark spaces that reflect their feelings and build the generally omnious mood as they journey into death. And it works! The result is a film widely regarded as a classic by those who've seen it.
One notable feature is the film's fascination with the constructed language Esperanto, among the earliest aspiring universal languages. The film features all kinds of Esperanto text and an esperanto subtitle track, and even has an alternative Esperanto title, Nokto de la Galaksia Fervojo. This was a fascination of Miyazawa's, though I don't believe it features in the novel particularly prominently, but Sugii evidently wanted that to be part of the tribute...
In the wake of that, Sugii... went back to directing sports anime, this time the series Touch about Tennis, as well as a number of other projects including a Street Fighter film in 1994. He didn't abandon literary subjects though, adapting the Genji Monogatari, a foundational work of Japanese lit, in 1987 - though I can find little more about this adaptation. He even directed a Lupin III film! But none of those films are about cats, so we're gonna skip right over them.
In 2012, Sugii - now 72! - returned to books and cats with The Life of Budori Gusuko, adapting another novel by Miyazawa - this time at MushiPro successor Tezuka Productions. The animation is certainly more elaborate...
The film follows abandoned child Budori Gusuko in a world frozen by strange storms. Left to fend for himself, Budori's problems mulitply as his sister his kidnapped, leading him on a journey into dreams as he tries to get to the bottom of all of it.
The story is notable for anticipating the idea of the greenhouse effect, albeit in a way that rings rather odd in the context of present climate change. It generally doesn't seem to be viewed quite as favourably as Galactic Railroad but it's too good a thematic pairing not to do, so tonight the plan is to watch both films! Elaborate old weird anime, we're so back. And not a boob in sight, so twitch should chill out.
All being well, Animation Night 188 will be starting at 22:00 UK time, which is about two hours from this post - we're back on twitch.tv/canmom, thankfully they didn't ban me for long. Hope to see you there!

Good Source for Trans Monkey King Headcanon
While Sun Wukong is not historically or canonically transgender, I wholeheartedly support anyone with a headcanon portraying him as such. A great example of spiritual gender transition from Buddhist scripture that could serve as a basis for your headcanon is the “Dragon Girl” (Longnu, 龍女) from chapter 12 of the Lotus Sutra (Miaofa lianhua jing, 妙法蓮華經; a.k.a. Fahua jing, 法華經, c. 3rd-century).
She is first introduced to an assembly of Buddhist deities as the eight-year old daughter of the Dragon King Sāgara (Suojieluo longwang, 娑竭羅龍王) and one of an unfathomable number of dragonfolk enlightened by the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī’s (Wenshu shili, 文殊師利) lessons on the Lotus Sutra. Her teacher describes her as a great student prodigy with a deep knowledge of Buddhist Law, as well as having many advanced spiritual achievements. But this upsets some among the assembly because the notion of a young girl approaching Buddhahood so quickly flies in the face of convention, which normally calls for untold aeons of severe austerities before one can achieve awakening. Her accomplishments are called into question at first, but everyone is appeased when she offers a priceless jewel to the Buddha, and he quickly accepts it as a symbolic gesture. Then:
The girl said [to the assembly], “Employ your supernatural powers and watch me attain Buddhahood. It will be even quicker than that!” At that time the members of the assembly all saw the dragon girl in the space of an instant change into a man (emphasis added) and carry out all the practices of a bodhisattva, immediately proceeding to the spotless World of the south, taking a seat on a jeweled lotus, and attaining impartial and correct enlightenment. With the thirty-two features and the eighty characteristics [of a Buddha], he expounded the wonderful Law for all living beings everywhere in the ten directions (Watson, 1993, p. 188).

Class/Grade: Class 2-C/Sophomore (No. 27)
Dorm: Octavinelle.
Birthday: February 29th.
Zodiac Sign: Pisces.
MBTI: ISTJ.
Age: 18 (he’s been at NRC since 16, but had to retake freshman year due to failing several magic classes)
Height: 6 feet 2 inches/ 188 cm.
Dominant Hand: Ambidextrous.
Homeland: The Abyssal Sea (the super very bottom of it, where light never reaches).
Family: Unnamed mothers, six unnamed sisters.
Species: Sireno (male counterpart of a Siren/Sirena).
Unique Magic: Heed My Call. Has the power to hypnotize anyone by singing, allowing him to make them do his bidding. He can also suck out people’s voices as well as their magic to feed his own.
Preferences:
Club: Science.
Best Subject: Music.
Hobbies: Singing, poison making, sitting soaking wet in a bathtub in his merform.
Pet Peeves: Being touched without permission, when his hair gets tangled, heat and dryness, being questioned.
Favorite food: human flesh Cephalopoda (octopus and squid)
Least Favorite Food: Shark meat.
Likes: Octavinelle, the ocean, singing, music, cooking, reading, water, swimming, his hair.
Dislikes: Fishermen, human traffickers/hunters, gossip, nets, narrow spaces, crowds, alcohol, anything that restricts his movement.
Appearance (Human Form):
Aurinelle has curly knee-length hair the color of freshly fallen snow, with purplish blue that starts at his roots and quickly fades into white. He cares for his hair like his life depends on it. His skin is entirely pale except for the patches of aero blue that surround the scales around his body. His scales are capable of changing color based on his mood, however he’s come to have control over that ability in order to avoid being easily read.
Aurinelle has a lithe body with impressive flexibility and is incredibly tall, towering over most students at a whopping 6’2 feet. His nails are naturally black and he paints over them with different types of glitters and decorations. His low, defined cheekbones make his facials look charmingly youthful. He has droopy hooded eyes colored a golden yellow that fades into a light blue. His eye lashes are long and well taken care of. On the other hand, the underside of his eyes are marked by heavy blueish eye bags (which he’s often nagged about by Vil).
Appearance (Merform):
In his merform, Aurinelle is extremely thin, yet incredibly strong. He is about 7 feet in length, and his entire body is painted in different shades of blues, purples and pinks. His massive tail has many different gems that act as his scales that also change color. His scales shine brightly in the dark, both on land and in the sea. His tail fins are an unadulterated white, which contrast with the rest of his body hue.
When in his merform, the color of his sclera changes from white to pitch black and his irises become solely yellow. The scales on his tail form a pattern of waves that entangle with each other in a sort of Yin Yang formation.
Personality:
Aurinelle is relatively quiet, and always has a resting bitch face on. He’s usually avoided for both his large size and for several lurking rumors about his identity and species, since no one actually knows what he is. He dislikes being questioned about his identity, because to land dwellers and coral sea inhabitants alike, sirens had gone extinct centuries ago. Imagine the ruckus if he were to be found out!
However, unlike many assumptions, Aurinelle is a wonderful listener and an impressive leader. That does not mean he can’t give firm and harsh criticism when required (some people in NRC need a harsh slap from reality). He’s protective of those whom he’s fond of, and is extremely soft to children, singing lovely lullaby songs if his appearance happens to intimidate them. He’s hardly ever deceived (Azul, Jade and Jamil learned that the hard way), and has sharp senses that alert him if someone is nothing but trouble. He hates being watched (cough Rook cough), but he knows the difference when he’s watched out of admiration vs out of spite or the like.
Overall, he’s a misunderstood giant.
HE’S FINALLY FINISHED AFTER SO MANY HOURS OF DRAWING
gosh I LOVE HIM
spoiler alert: I’m never drawing his merform again 😜
