A victorious grin made its way to her face as the other gave up on whatever ritual she was doing. "You told me you needed a minute!" Samantha shouted excusatory, mouth agape at the woman's statement. I was respecting your wishes like the kind person I am." She shook her head, feigning disappointment. "I want to know what you're doing!"

Hearing the tone of voice had Lux turning sooner than she would have wanted, her privacy and thought process already disturbed. Irritation filled her at the other's self importance and as if she would automatically take priority. "No one asked you to. You came up to me, not the other way round." Lux wasn't sure what it was about this woman that rubbed her up the wrong way but every interaction they seemed to have ended with them clashing. "I know perfectly well that nothing is up there, I'm not delusional. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's none of your business my reasoning behind it." Lux could tell that the blonde was much more irritated with this interaction than she was which baffled her considering she didn't even have to stop and talk to her. "What do you even want Samantha?"

it’s the fact that it’s called the virgin suicides when they all knew that Lux wasn’t a virgin, just because the pretence that she died a virgin furthers the boys’ objectification by making each of the Lisbon sisters into their idea of a "perfect" woman. saintly, pure, unsullied, a Madonna. the boys erase the events and information that make the girls seem too human. while virginity is frankly a stupid, outdated, misogynistic construct, to the boys in the narrative, virginity is an important virtue for women. i doubt they know if any of the girls were actually definitely virgins when they died. but they emphasise that trait as part of their idolisation of the girls, which is really just thinly, prettily veiled objectification…
