Halloween costume
Tumblr media
Players headcanons
summary: what certain hockey player would wear as a halloween costume with his partner
note: it's time to finally start this masterlist haha
C. CAUFIELD
Cole is this type of guy to have silly but meaningful Halloween costumes for both of you. Most of the time the costumes look like they had been picked out at the last minute but for two of you, they have a deeper meaning. At every Halloween party, you would have a costume related to a cartoon that you’ve been obsessed with and become a guilty pleasure movie for you. Example? You would wear Woody and Jessie costumes because in past months, Toy Story was your movie that two of you would watch when one of you had a bad day and needed a laugh.
A. FANTILLI
You and Adam are huge movie fans. Every day that he’s at home, you need to end up with a movie. Halloween costumes would be based on the genre of movies you’re currently watching. It’s a fun time for both of you so you dont care if you look silly or not, it’s all about having joy from this day. Example? You would dress up as Mr & Mrs Corleone because for the past month you two had been obsessed with The Godfather trilogy to this point that you would read a novel on which the movie is based.
N. HISCHIER
You and Nico love Peaky Blinders so obviously two of you had to pick costumes based on this tv show. At first, it was supposed to be an inspiration, more like the aesthetic of those years where the action is based. Later Nico proposed to dress up as Tommy and Grace. He wanted both of you to be main characters from the tv show at the party. You came up with an even better idea. You suggested it to be Michael and Gina because they lived in the US and not in England like the rest of the characters. Nico without a doubt agreed on this.
J. HUGHES
You and Jack love Halloween and dressing up. Each year you impatiently wait for the party to pick a costume because you two always have plenty of ideas what to wear. Each year you also have arguments over what to pick because you have troubles with deciding. Jack prefers this but you prefer that. Although now, for the first time, you two knew that you wanted to dress up as Joker and Harley Quinn.
L. HUGHES
Since you were a kid, you have loved Corpse Bride. Your dream was to dress up as Victor and Emily but you never had a good opportunity for this because the costumes you wore in the past were group costumes. Now, you convinced Luke to go dressed up as them, especially when you tried to tell him that he looks similar to Victor. He didn’t see it but seeing you all cheerful and talkative about this movie… He couldn’t say no to you.
Q. HUGHES
For Quinn, Halloween party would be the one time of the year when he can finally have a fun night and stop thinking about hockey. You would be the brain of the operation what to wear but he will gladly give you ideas. It’s always a costume of characters that two of you had to know. You would never pick something that Quinn is not familiar with. Example? You proposed to dress up as characters from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. It was a childhood movie for both of you and he was happy at the idea. Quinn would wear a Willy Wonka costume when you would be an Oompa Loompa.
C. KELLER
Clayton didn’t care about the Halloween party but he saw the excitement in your eyes and wanted to play along with you. He didn’t bother you and let you pick whatever you wanted. Your head was spiralling with ideas but knowing that he doesn’t feel the joy of the holiday, you wanted to keep it simple and classic for him. You decided to dress up as the main characters from The Bear which was the tv show you’ve been watching lately. Clayton was happy with this because he didn’t have to dress up in anything crazy.
J. MARINO
Since the last Halloween party, you know what you want to wear next year. Whole year you were trying to convince John to agree to this costume. Every year he was telling you that he’s not gonna do it again but the truth was that for you, he would do anything. This costume wasn't special for him because it required only a suit from him and you bought him with that because he wasn't a big guy of dressing up. You two dressed up as Morticia and Gomez Addams.
M. REMPE
Matt was out of ideas for the Halloween party but you knew that you two needed to use the height difference. You didn’t have any plans until both of you watched Monsters, Inc. When you saw Sulley and Wazowski, you knew that these are perfect costumes. You told this to Matt and he completely fell in love with the idea and you two decided to make it happen. You bought a matching onesie as a costume that you were wearing around the house after the party.
J. SLAFKOVSKY
You and Juraj felt completely uninspired for the Halloween party. If you liked an idea, he wasn’t a fan of it and vice versa. Two of you were close to just showing up dressed normally without any costumes until you came up with an idea. You weren’t sure Juraj would like the idea but you decided to try. You proposed to dress up in the colors of Slovakian flag. At first, he was sceptical about this but eventually two of you wore white beanie, blue shirt and red pants. It was basic but you two loved it.

I transcribed what McIntyre said to Punk after his mania match
(I did this instead of working on my dissertation and it took an hour of messing with audio and replaying it until I could hear properly)
Essentially, he was saying that Punk is a good commentator and should keep doing it because if he ever wrestles again, McIntyre will end his career. He also really just wanted to rub his win in Punk’s face. Full Transcription is below the photo if you care.
Tumblr media
Speakers
P: CM Punk
D: Drew McIntyre
M: Pat McAfee
G: Corey Graves
C: Michael Cole
(ST) is used when multiple things are said at the same time.
Transcription
P: Well, my hat goes off to the champ. I’m not gonna tell him he’s gonna keep it warm for me because I don’t know what the future holds.
*McIntyre stares at Punk, who stares back.*
M: I think he has an idea of what the future holds.
*McIntyre walks towards the commentary table.*
P: Ah. I’ve been here before.
*McIntyre gestures for the other commentators to move out of the way and they do.*
C: Ok.
P: Be careful. Be careful, Drew. Your wife’s here.
*McIntyre climbs onto the table and crawls towards Punk, pushing the belt towards him.*
M: Like a jungle cat on our commentary desk.
*Punk applauds him.*
P: Congratulations. Have fun taking selfies on the internet with it.
*McIntyre kneels on the desk in front of Punk.*
D: I want you to know, every single thing I’ve said about you, I meant every single word.
P: I want you to know that I can’t hear a word you’re saying because I have cans on.
D: And let me tell you something. Right where you’re sitting, I’ll give you props, you got that down like nobody else. Step back in that ring ever again, I won’t put you out for a few months, I’ll end your career.
*Punk laughs.*
D: I’m not playing you; you think it’s funny? I’m not playing you.
P: I think it’s hilarious.
(ST) P: People bigger than you have told me that my career is over.
(ST) D: You’re welcome here.
D: Step back in the ring, I’ll end your career. This is my moment.
P: It is your moment. Why are you- why are you here? Why are you in my face? Why are you making it about me?
D: Because I want to rub it in your goddamn face!
*McIntyre gets up to crouch in front of Punk with the belt.*
(ST) D: Get this shot! I want this framed on my wall!
(ST) P: Alright man. Alright get it.
*Crowd starts chanting “CM Punk”.*
P: I ain’t never won a title and heard other people chanting somebody else’s name.
*McIntyre stands up and gives the DX suck it” gesture with one hand while holding the belt in the other.*
M: Oh geez.
P: Alright. Ok.
M: Right in his face. He did that right in his face.
*Punk knocks McIntyre over and starts a fight.*
G: Wait a minute!
C: Oh my God!

Note
what podcasts have you listened to?
good question because I'M IN THE MARKET FOR PODCAST RECS. please. i hate almost everything on this list
S Tier (i listen to new episodes the second they drop)
Know Your Enemy. look Matt and Sam just have such an exceedingly good vibe. when they talk about something i actually know they never feel like they're doing an unfair or one-sided treatment of it. they're both massive intellectual history nerds. and they do that without, y'know, sacrificing Principles and Taking A Stand in the name of pseudointellectual fairness. occasionally they bring on a guest that pisses me off but that's fine. good things for this podcast forever
A Tier (i'm excited when i have new episodes to listen to)
Normal Gossip. quality varies a decent amount season-to-season but at its heart, it's some bitches Talking Shit about some people you'll never meet in an entertaining way. entirely my jam. hell yeah
The Recipe with Kenji and Deb. good vibes, i learn a couple things about food usually, i am really dumb about cooking so it's not hard for me to learn new things but i sure do learn
The Bonhoeffer Podcast. my current listen. egregiously niche subject. clearly run in a no-frills low-production-value by some random academic. and it rules. tell me the niche internecine theological conflict random dudes with shitty internet connections I Need To Know
Drive to Work with Mark Rosewater. he gets repetitive if you listen to too many episodes at once. but. the head designer of Magic: the Gathering is just as compelling in podcast form as he is in his writing. love that shit
B Tier (i'll go to these reasonably-frequently)
Odd Lots. episodes are rarely standouts but rarely uninteresting either. vibe between the hosts is good
Designer Notes. pros: did a 3hr interview with Cole Wehrle who i do have a brain-crush on. cons: most guests aren't Cole Wehrle
The Kongversation. look it's just some guys nostalgia'ing hard over ye olde Rare/Nintendo games but they're oddly fun/compelling about it
BS-Free Witchcraft Podcast. i have an affection for tetchy neopagans who are somewhat grounded about it and this dude's pretty solid on that front
C Tier (fine, if i must. OR, yes i listen but i feel guilty about it)
If Books Could Kill. ok so the problem with Michael Hobbes is that he's not particularly intellectually honest. the problem with Peter Shamshiri is that he's definitely not intellectually honest and also a dick about it. unfortunately they are both very ENTERTAINING.
i feel a little less guilty listening to them in this format because like. dunking on The Secret is just having a good time, it's a sporking, everyone already knows the book sucks.
it's still unvirtuous that i listen to this one but sometimes i need to listen to familiar stupid dunks as i fall asleep yaknow
And Also With You. episcopalianism 101; i have a Pet Research Project atm & while these ppl aren't as deeply NERD as i desire they make up for it with vibes & pleasantness
D Tier (if i'm desperate. and on a road trip. i'll listen. i guess)
Ezra Klein: my husband absolutely bodied me the other day when i listened to Joe Rogan for the first time, for Civic Education Reasons™, and before i could begin to describe the experience he was like "let me guess, it's like Ezra Klein but for center-right gym bros." and fuck me if that's not egregiously accurate. they share a certain combo of "weirdly credulous" + "have a few specific Weird Anxieties they're fixated on." in Klein's case that anxiety is focused on factory farming & in Rogan's case it's focused on like weird AI conspiracies. in both cases they are aggressively vanilla and mid but sometimes Klein gets an okayish guest. Klein's REALLY had a lot of anxiety lately tho so i've found him harder to take, cannot be part of your secondhand anxiety bro
Time To Say Good Bye! rank punditry but i kinda like Jay Caspian Kang's vibe
Limited Resources. listened way more when i was drafting MtG competitively. but episodes are LONG and that's absolutely an asset when e.g. you're on a long drive to Whistler & you and your husband already nearly came to blows over What To Listen To & you remember Oh Shit Right We're Both Going To A Prerelease Next Weekend
You Have Permission. podcast by a chill sort-of-intellectually-marshmallow-esque liberal christian guy. there are a LOT of episodes which is useful if you're trying to set time on fire. some of his guests are FASCINATING; some less so. averages out to "fine"? random episodes are Not Good but if you skim in advance you'll get e.g. a really cool Quaker guy, some hypernerd theologian, etc
Podcasts That Are So Good But Sadly I Have Already Listened To Every Episode And They Aren't Making More
Every Day's Great! nerds replay Persona 4 and yap about it
The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. watch an evangelical megachurch implode
Stuff I've Guiltily Carried Around With A Vague Intention Of Actually Listening For A While Now
No Proscenium. all the LARP news that's fit to print. haven't taken a dive yet tho
The Blood Zone. i really like liz ryerson's other work but only listened to the ocremix episode of this one so far oops
The Age of Napoleon & History of Africa. i was enjoying Napoleon for a while but my old car didn't have bluetooth and the podcast was just too QUIET to hear even at the loudest volume. history of africa i was enjoying but got distracted and now i'm like oh fuck i don't remember where i was guess i'll die
Security. Cryptography. Whatever. i should be listening to this for professional reasons
.....
i'm aware there's weightier/better podcasts out there, but i'm mostly listening to podcasts while driving or doing chores, so i need podcasts to hit this weird sweet spot of "intellectually serious enough i don't turn the thing off" but also "well-produced / attention-grabbing enough that it's entertaining even if i can only devote half my brain to it (because, y'know, driving/cleaning)." so most podcast recs don't work on me. and for some reason a lot of popular podcasts (planet money, most NPR ones, etc) are like nails-on-chalkboard for me. maybe i just need to get into audiobooks or something lol but yeah that's what i'm relying on for now

Extended credits for Museum at Tomorrow episode 5
Below the cut are all of the folks who I used (and asked to be credited) for recordings in Museum at Tomorrow episode 5- specifically, the "This is not for You" recordings.
(The list was too long for podcast episode descriptions)
These recordings were mixed into the soundscape of the show, heavily processed- so you may or may not be able to pick out your voice. Each unique recording is preserved as rhythem, timber, and shape within the episode.
Thank you for your work in creating the canvas of this piece.
