About Syir, from Pokemadhouse

If you follow me for a while, must have seen my Pokemadhouse rage about Syir The Gardevoir.

But unfortunally i never explained WHY i hate her so much and why my blood boils when i talk about her.

So, here is the big explanation, in topics.

1-So, who is Syir and what did she do?

Syir is a character from Poke Madhouse, a now deleted pokemon comic made by Lily and Mikaila Orchard that talks about a pokemon world and the lives of their ocs and their pokemon in a house.

In this world Gardevoirs are the most dangerous and powerful species of pokemon, and Syir is a Female Gardevoir whose trainer is nothless than Diantha, The Kalos Champion.

And not only that, she and Diantha are implied on being in a relationship, wich in Poke Madhouse world is seen as the worst crime a person can do, even if its consensual. Gardevoirs are the biggest victims in this, as Lily even said People call them "The Waifu Pokemon", and doesnt help they do a thing called Mating Bond, where they use their psych powers to fuse their lives together.

And in this case, if you think they have a very good relationship...

ITS NOT WHAT HAPPENS HERE.

Diantha in the comics is coerced by her Gardevoir into sexual relationships, even using her psych powers to rape her. And she cant escape or cut the bond, as Syir use it to control and track her, like a leash. Also, Syir kills anyone who discovers about the True nature of their relationship, and its implied in some comics that everyone knows the nature of their relationship but dont do anything in fear of getting killed next.

2-Why no one tried to stop her?

A thing from Poke Madhouse is that Gardevoirs are in risk of extinction and have very short lifespans because of excessive breeding to get perfect Gardevoirs and shinies (Basically Lily dissing People who do this). So they are an endangered species. Also, this was Lily decision, without any reason besides "why not?"

There were at least 3 People who gave reasonable plans to defeat her. Poison, Guns, attack with pokemons with type advantage. All good and reasonable things within pokemon universe. However, all Lily answered them was a meme.

Basically, the answer to everyone wanting to defeat Syir. Literally a "You cant" in form of a bad meme.

Lily says that Syir is too powerful and evil to be defeated, to the point there's nothing anyone can do. Even G and C!Lily couldnt. Hell even Bonnie cant stop her, lily said that if they met Bonnie would cry and hide.

Actually, this will be the final topic, the reason i hate her.

3-Snitches get Stitches

In 2020, Lily added a thing in Madhouse wikia Page of Syir, currently deleted by her. She added a small lore info about Diantha and Syir.

Diantha one day managed to escape Syir and tried to find Help on the last person who tried to stop her Gardevoir: C!Lily.

C!Lily was an enforcer, a kind of pokemon cop, who really tried to stop Syir. However, Syir almost murdered both her and G, wich made C!Lily abandon all investigation she made, and made her terrified of Syir.

Diantha begged her for help, to find a way to save her. But C!Lily didnt wanted to help, because Syir threatened to kill everyone who she loved if she tried anything.

So what C!Lily did?

She gave Diantha back to Syir.

She GAVE. AN ABUSE VICTIM. BACK TO ITS ABUSER.

Now you get it why i feel so much hate towards her?

I dont care about any drama of hers, i cant EXCUSE THAT SHE WROTE SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND WANTS ME TO LIKE HER CHARACTERS.

TO LIKE G, C!LILY OR ANYONE ELSE.

She May have deleted the original pages and only left the nuke attack she gave to Syir.

StS x Pokemon AU brainstorming stuff

Now I'll have to publicly share some flow of thoughts rambles, I've been accumulating for an year now.

Here's the main skeleton of this whole deal-

Sanctuary = Its own region. No new fakemons, but it's a sizeable piece of land that has gathered up a wide variety of various species found across the globe. This worldwide thing also influences the type of trainers and people from all over the world going there. If we were to touch on the subject of game mechanics: There would be most of them (Mega evolutions, terastalise, Dynamax even Paradox pokemon forms) further showing how mysterious and mythical this region is.

PC - Seiya / Shoko Rivals - Seiya -> The other bronze boys / Shoko ->The other saintias

With Ikki being the Silver-esque type of rival, meanwhile Shiryu/Hyoga/Shun all follow the same line of friendly rival archetype. I still haven't thought that far on the Shoko route.

Other prominent NPCs:

Professor Shion: Former gym leader, he was once offered the champion title but refused it. Claiming that his passion was in research and studies, rather than the battlefield. Due to stepping down from battles, his friendship/relationship with Dohko has strained over time. Shion is the one who brought Mu to Sanctuary down the line.

Schoolkid Kiki: Catching Tutorial NPC. He can be usually found at the Pokemon School in Mu's city. He will inherit Mu's mantle down the line. The pokemon he uses in the tutorial is a Noibat;

League Chairwoman Saori Kido - With Julien Solo and Hades coming in as other seemingly "investors" on the project

Gym leaders: Most of these guys' aces aren't fully evolved, bc they chose to keep them like that. Yadda yadda friendship boosting their favorites.

Aldebaran: Hoenn - Ground - Rhydon

Saga/Kanon: Alola - Water - Gyarados (Saga)/Kingdra (Kanon)

Evil organisations: They definetely do exist, and they are obviously tied to the aforementioned Julien and Hades figures. But I still haven't thought that far.

Worldbuilding notes:

Muvians are similar to draconids (introduced in ORAS), a small tribe that originates from Sinnoh and has some deep connections and bonds to dragon types. Which means, any muvian = dragon type specialist or in the very least owns one. Muvians are also meant to have a foot in aura sensitivity (see characters like Lucario, Riley, etc.);

Sanctuary's League has a rampant corruption problem, as seen by what I mentioned about Saga. The two evil organisations are basically being pitched against one another, as smokescreen for the real problem. Their current champ is this sort of "elusive" figure. There hasn't been a proper champion in a long time. And yet, according to paperwork and the system, it states that the role is currently filled by someone. Anyone that isn't tied to Saga's schemes is left in the shadows, even those that allegedly should be the closest to him (Aiolos for SURE has no clue of what's going on. He's probably hiding or declared missing in action during the events, and only shows up when the time comes to challenge the E4).

There's a small timeline:

ND folks (a good few years into the past) -> Classic folks -> Omega folks (+20 years into the future)

In ND's setting we see how odd and hapharzadly the League was instated in the region. Which sets up the perfect grounds for Saga to exploit down the line;

Shion and Dohko are recently turned gym leader here. Mu comes onto the picture a good few years after ND's events; In a way, since Tenma would be the PC here and Alone his rival. It could be the Red vs Blue type of ordeal.

In Omega we'd see how the League is trying to remedy its reputation & amend for Saga's schemes, with an entirely new set of gym leaders and League members. + Former league members can still be found and fought in the post game, Silver/Gold style.

Individual notes:

Mu - Obligatory pokemon Aldemu food

Mu used to own a Gible and Alde once owned a Trapinch, at some point they traded pokemon. So now, Alde has a Garchomp in his personal team and Mu has a Flygon;

Mu's battle team against young trainers has a Swablu, which is used as a messenger to carry mail exchanges between him and Alde;

Mu LOVES pokemon dolls and has a huge collection of it. In the post-game: PC can find Mu and Alde on a date at the region's big mall, with them looking at a shop's display window. Mu gets mad at PC for ruining his date, but would give out his pokegear number;

Aldebaran -

Aldebaran gym's city is also where the pokemon day-care can be found. He may not run it, but he often helps out the elderly couple currently in charge of it;

In the post-game: After adding Mu's re-match call number. Alde can ba found on the route between his and Mu's towns, he was on his way to take a meal for him, and he also shares with PC that they bought the doll in the end

Saga/Kanon -

PC doesn't really get to fight for the 3rd gym badge. Rather, it's simply handed out by Kanon, who approaches them to talk about how the leader hasn't been seen in so long;

Saga's "fall from grace" comes from a humiliating match against Aiolos, originally fighting for the E4 member promotion which he lost. Despite the clear type advantage;

It's left implied that these two were meant to be gym leaders, the matches would have been double battles.

Deathmask -

DM gym's city houses a Game corner (Casino) and a contest hall. First sighting of an E4 member is Aphrodite, who introduces PC to them;

DM is a sore loser AND has no qualms with cheating against his challengers, if it means he gets to maintain his "streak". In the battle against PC he would use an overleveled Crawdaunt;

In the post-game: PC will get a hint from Shaka's radio talkshow mentioning DM's whereabouts, in the city's underground game corner;

DM's strength is everything philosophy = DM's entire personal team consists of very strong dark types with some form of 4x weakness;

DM is well in kahoots with Saga's schemes;

Aiolia - TBA I haven't thought anything for him c':

Shaka -

Shaka gym's city is meant to be the largest and the most advanced one (Saffron and Goldenrod cities style), it has the region's largest shop for expensive and important items. It also has a radio tower, which broadcasts various programs (professor talk, loterry ticket, poke flute, etc), Shaka hosts a talk show where he commentates on PC's progress, all while actively putting down/poking fun at his defeated colleagues. Under specific time slots, he will have a guest join him, which will be an exchange between the various league's members. But the most important one is where he will be joined by the region's "champion";

Shaka is a fan-favorite across several trainers in the region, with many NPCs commentating how much they love tuning in to hear him talk & so on;

Shaka is also well known for his psychci prowess (Sabrina style);

Shaka is also deeply involved in Saga's schemes;

Dohko -

Dohko gym's city also houses the pokéathlon. With Dohko going undefeated in all the challenges, until PC comes along;

Post-game: to get Dohko's number for rematches. PC has to visit Shion after obtaining a certain number of species then, take a mail key item to Dohko. And THEN they get Dohko's number. it's a love letter, an invitation for some tea at noon

Rasanya kalo bisa menuliskan semua hal yang aku doakan, pasti ada banyak yang sudah aku centang menandakan sudah banyak doaku yang diijabah.

Bahkan, adakalanya aku merasa doaku dijawab dengan lebih banyak kebaikan daripada apa yang aku minta. Allah kasih lebih banyak, Allah kasih lebih baik.

Maka dari itu, aku berusaha merenungkan apa-apa saja doaku, dan bagaimana aku menghambakan diri merayu Allah. Apakah caraku sudah baik, sudah mengiba, atau malah membuat Allah cemburu.

Mengapa membuat Allah cemburu?

Aku teringat perjalanan dari Madinah menuju Mekkah. Sudah berpakaian ihram dan mengambil niat umroh. Aku membaca pesan-pesan dari orang-orang yang menitipkan doa. Aku juga sudah mempersiapkan doa-doa yang ingin aku panjatkan. Aku menyadari, bahwa doa-doaku isinya duniawi.

Perjalanan yang cukup jauh ditempuh. Aku beribadah dengan mengharapkan keindahan akhirat. Tapi doaku mayoritas isinya dunia. Aku ingin mendapatkan A, aku ingin memiliki B, Aku ingin melakukan C. Semuanya tentang kesenangan dunia.

Walaupun tidak masalah semua permintaan itu. Sebab dunia seisinya pun milik Allah. Wajar kalau kita meminta kepada-Nya.

Tapi, aku menyadari, terkadang isi doaku bisa saja membuat Allah cemburu.

Maka aku belajar untuk menutup doaku dengan, "Yaa Rabb, aku menerima segala ketetapan-Mu." Selayaknya doa Nabi Zakaria, "Aku belum pernah kecewa dalam berdoa kepada-Mu Yaa Tuhanku."

Dan ketika aku terbiasa menutup doa seperti itu, aku menyadari, tidak ada doa yang tidak Allah dengarkan yang tidak Allah jawab.

Meskipun terkadang membutuhkan waktu yang lama, seiring kita selalu mengingat, apa yang kita terima hari ini adalah doa-doa yang sudah terucap oleh diri sendiri, ataupun orang-orang yang mendoakan kita.

Mari berdoa, minta doa, dan mendoakan. Kelak satu persatu kebaikan akan datang.

Eden

Nagisa: Absol (mega). Grimsnarl. Togepi. Gigalith. Carbink. Archen. Hiyori: Absol. Hattene. Togetic. Sprigatito (shiny). Lillipup Ibara: Absol. Morgrem. Arbok. Gimmighoul. Jun: Absol. Hatterm. Mightyena

Eden has a dark and elegant style so I was searching among dark types. I was choosing between Absol and Liepard. Absol is dark type but more majestic (and should be psychic or get fairy type), and Liepard has a similar color-palette with Eden (dark color with yellow). I decided on Absol. I thinks, it fits more.

For Adam and Eve I was trying to find gender-based forms or evolution but none of them looked fitting for them. So I went with Grimsnarl and Hatterm which were made as counterparts for each other.

Togepi is left after Fine. Togepi did not evolve during fine, Nagisa just thinks it’s cute like that (Ibara goes not think it's cute, it runs everywhere, he needs to look over it and it's driving him insane). Nagisa loves rocks and fossils. For rocks, cool rock with his color palette and cute rock-fairy would do the trick. Also their differences fit Nadisa’s stoic and serious outside and cheerful almost child-like inside. Also, Gigalith helps with mining. I wanted to give him Sableye, but it eats gems and hunts Carbinks as prey, so hard no. For fossils it was hard deciding on one. I went with Archen, I thought it would fit Nagisa’s silliness and trouble with self-identity. Another option was Aurorus for its elegance.

Lillipup = Bloody Mary

Togetic left after fine. Sprigattito does not have much thoughts other than “Shiny’s colors literally Hiyori’s colors”. Hiyori does have a lot of plants tho. I was thinking of the final form, Mewscarada, but I think Hiyori would like more cute mons, then strong ones.

Ardok is a snake. Gimmighoul because money. I was thinking between it and it’s evolution, Gholndego, but the image of Gimmighoul in chest sitting on table while Ibara working was too hard to pass.

Jun does not feel like someone with many mons so I stopped on just the hyena pokemon, Mightyena. Jun had it as Poochyena which evolved after forming Eve.

Valkyrie

Shu: Klinklang. Florges. Tarountula. Magearna (Pokeball). Mika: Klank. Mimikyu. Banette.

Valkyrie’s symbol is gears, and Klink’s line is the only gear pokemon.

Florges is from the Kalos region which is based on France. It’s elegant, feminine and Floette resembles of a doll. Almost all Shu’s interest in one. Red flowers one describes as being able to heal both body and spirit. Shu needs it. Tarountula is the only pokemon that I could think of for knitting. I don’t want to give anyone legendary or mythical pokemon but Magearna is so perfect for Shu! So he can have mythical. As a treat.

Mimikyu is a lonely pokemon who made its rag by itself. Pretty fitting for Mika. I imagine Mimikyu’s cover being torn and Mika fixing it. Also Mimikyu might be based on lovecraftian horror. Perfect. Banette is an abandoned doll that turned into pokemon. Also it’s category is Marionette pokemon.

Hinata: Toxtricity (Amped). Ambipom. Slurpuff Yuta: Toxtricity (Low Key). Aipom. Scovillan

2wink like acrobatics. Acrobatics is an actual move, but a lot of pokemon who can learn it are just fast. Ambipom and Aipom are only acrobatic enough.

I was searching for “twin” pokemons and found Toxtricty only fitting ones. Their form depends on nature, so perfect. Also their bright colors work with 2winks bright palette.

Also i wanted to give them opposite pokemons. Hinata loves sweet cream puffs and Yuta loves spice. So pokemon based on sweet cream dessert and chilly pepper pokemon will go!

Crazy:B

Rinne: Vespiquen. Flapple. Dragonite. HiMERU: Combee. Inteleon. Zoroark. Kohaku: Combee. Cherrim. Hisuian Samurott. Niki: Combee. Appletun (shiny). Alcremie. Munchlax.

There’s little to non bees pokemon… Crazy:B’s symbol is honeycomb so bee pokemon whose design is also heavily based on combs is perfect. Beedrill also worked due to being a poison type, but I see it more like a wasp (and don’t want to give them Kakuna or Weedle).

Rinne gave Niki shiny Applin. When they formed Idol duo Niki-the-airhead-the-oblivious noticed what other units had the same pokemons and suggested Rinne get his own Applin. 

I wanted to find a pokemon who would work as “the village ruler’s family gets that pokemon and trains it”. I decided to go with pseudo-legendary ones and Dragonite fits the most (powerful but friendly, asian-based). It was Dragonair when Rinne ran away and evolved before the main story. Flapple has the ability Hustle which kinda fits Rinne.

I wanted to give two pokemons to HiMERU, one being Kaname’s, another his own. Inteleon has a similar color palette to him (esp fs1) so it was chosen as Kaname’s pokemon. When Kaname enrolled in Reimei it was Sobble, then it evolved in Drizzile, and under Oremeru it evolved in Inteleon. Oremeru grew up abroad so I wanted Pokemon from not-japan based regions. Zoroark cast illusions on itself and was described to be extremely protective of loved ones, even holding grudges on those who hurt loved ones. Perfect.

For Kohaku I went with only japanese-based pokemons. Kohaku has various associations with sakura so the only sakura-based pokemon, Cherrim, is his. For him being trained to do “dirty work” I went with Hisuian Samurott. Unovan Samurott is based on samurai, but Hisuian most likely based on ronin.

Munchlax is all about eating so it would be stupid to not give it to Niki. Although, I almost did not give it to Niki. The thought of needing to feed both Niki and Munchlax who “needs to consume its own weight (231,5 lbs or 105 kg) in food every day” was terrifying. For cooking I search for every pokemon with any reference to food. There is not much not-sweet food pokemons, surprisingly.  I stopped on Appletun and Alcremie. Appletun is friendly and kids eat skin on its back as snacks (*cough* in Galar it is a custom to give an Applin, its pre-evolution, as a romantic gesture *cough*). Alcremie treats trainers who she likes with berries, many patisserie chiefs seek Alcremie as their partners and her cream is described to bring happiness to anyone who eats them. I was thinking of more pokemons (like slowpoke and clauncher), but Niki definitely would not have a lot of them (he had two before meeting Rinne and was thinking it's more than enough), so I cut the list.

Hello, I am a huge fan of your work and I’ve been following you for a while! I am a gay Greek student at the History & Mythology department from Aristotle University. I had to do a lot of research and homework regarding certain subjects and one of them was Κρόκος (Krokos/Crocus). Crocus was in fact in love with a nymph named Smilax, but was never, in any valid story, involved with Hermes romantically. Contrary to popular belief, homosexuality was something that was condemned in the majority of most city-states of ancient Greece, especially Athens. Also, the term “Pederastry” actually meant “Mentoship” and it had nothing to do with sexual relationship between a male teacher and a male student. Many of the homosexual depictions regarding historical and mythological figures are created in modern times without any evidence to back it up. For instance, Achilles and Patroclus are often assumed to be lovers in modern media when in all actuality they were just cousins. Patroclus’ father Μενοίτιος (Menoetius) and Achilles’ father Πηλέας (Peleus) were brothers.

Alexander the Great was never in a relationship with his best friend Hephaestion as there’s no evidence to back it up besides him telling him his secrets and mourning his death.

The only historical figure that could be a legit bisexual was Sappho from the island Lesbos (which is why Greece now calls the island “Mytelene” to avoid any association with lesbians, despite it being the name of one of the cities there). She was accused of being a promiscuous woman who was sleeping with many men and that she was a woman-lover due to her poems, but this is still up to debate to this day.

The worst of all is that most pictures involving homosexual activity used as evidence to prove queerness have been modern remakes of an ancient artifacts depicting heterosexuality (or even the rape of women). Eros Kalos is responsible for many of these “queer copies”.

This deeply saddens me as I am a homosexual myself, but I don’t think Ancient Greece deserves credit for being “open-minded” on the subject knowing that they would treat me badly if I was born in my country in that era. I don’t feel comfortable with people trying to prove that it was gay when that’s not true at all. Anyway, I am very happy that artists like you exist and make their own fictional versions of the characters in ways that feel comfortable for us to look at. Stay amazing. <3

Thanks for all the helpful info :3 It's sometimes difficult to discern what "love" between gods and mortals means in the translated texts, as sometimes it can mean romantic/sexual love, and other times it just means godly love, i.e. mortals who were "chosen" by gods to be their patrons (so just having a very strong spiritual connection in the same way the Christian God "loves his children") and I feel like sometimes those two things become conflated a lot in discussion around those stories, but that's why it's always important to listen to other interpretations and translations to try and get the most accurate recounting possible.

I actually had no idea about the Alexander the Great x Hephaestion thing, and upon searching it up, it brought up articles about a Netflix production? Would I be wrong in assuming that's what motivated you to clarify on that ? 😆 (or is it just a common sentiment these days? genuinely asking haha I'm not so sharp on my Alexander the Great lore these days 😔🤡)

I absolutely agree that Greece itself isn't exactly a pillar of LGBTQ+ representation or rights (it is, after all, predominantly Orthodox Christian and they just legalized gay marriage in this, the year of our suffering 2024) and it's important not to put on blinders or use our connection to the gods and myths to erase what's going on historically. It's certainly not a magical imperfect wonderland - no culture or country is - and the more people are aware of that, the more they can become aware of ongoing issues and fight for things like equal rights (as they should!) so they can move towards positive change.

I think there's definitely lots to be said about the fandomification of Greek myth as well, where a lot of people take fun in the cute / funny / easy-to-headcanon parts of the myths without recognizing where they come from, why they were written, and who they were written for. It's easy to be a non-Greek person consuming and engaging with all the fun parts of the myths, because we get the privilege of being outsiders looking in who can interpret the myths in our own way free of consequences or the reality of the culture these myths are from. And I say that as someone who's not Greek and absolutely falls into that camp! Some of us use that privilege responsibly, others... not so much. And again, that's something that can happen with any culture (though I can definitely name a handful that have become notorious for how fandomified they've become through pop culture cough Japan cough Korea cough Canada, yes I fucking said Canada-)

That said, as with any culture that becomes more popularized with people outside of it, as much as that can lead to harm and misrepresentation in many ways, it can also lead to a lot of joy and appreciation. I'm glad that so many people have found themselves in the myths and find their hope through them and reclaim their power through them even if they've had a messy history. I see this sort of reclamation thriving in Christian mythology as well, through those who want to reclaim the beauty of many of its stories and messages and express the joy and love and compassion in them, rather than using them for hate and discrimination as they're so commonly and systematically used. In that way I think you can easily have adaptions that aren't historically accurate, but are more reflective of the culture and hopes and dreams of the people who are retelling them in the modern day. I think it's important to keep both in mind.

IMO it's one of those "if we don't find joy in it and use it to spread love to others, that means the bigots get to use it for harm" type things, if that makes sense :'0 But that doesn't mean we should pretend like history never happened, because in doing so, we're doomed to repeat it. We should always do our best to respect where these stories came from, and do more to learn about them when we get the opportunity to do so, because not doing so is how we end up with adaptions and "retellings" that are so far removed from the source material - but still ingrain themselves so seriously without a shred of transparency - that they almost become erasure in and of themselves. As I say a lot here, balance is key, and we should always be making efforts to learn ( ´ ∀ `)ノ～ ♡

i like to headcanon that kalo has had some near death experiences that didn't necessarily happen in canon.

specifically, the final steps of faith.

game wise, what had happened was most of my group had died and i had to use the T3 limit break to get them all back up, and then died myself while everyone else finished the fight

so i like to think. kalo collapsed from their wounds and managed to heal themselves just enough to be able to get up and tear the eye from estiniens body, chuck it over the bridge, and then just collapsed immediately afterwards.

theres a huge scar on their torso from the experience, and they spent a few weeks in recovery due to it.

Gak etis dan menunggu

Dalam salah satu sesi QnA di laman biru, dari circle yang aku kenal, aku menemukan case dan pertanyaan yang menarik.

Intinya, penanya adalah perempuan 24-25 tahun, ditanya ortu untuk segera menikah. Ybs menjaga pergaulan dan prefer taaruf. Ortunya bilang "kalau kamu gak berteman/bergaul, sampai sekarang belum ada yang lamar, gimana mau nikah. Ga bisa cuma berdoa, harus usaha."

Lalu ybs bertanya pada temanku,

"Bagaimana ikhtiar yg benar dalam menjemput jodoh? Rasanya sulit dan kurang etis juga kalau pihak perempuan yang menanyakan duluan. Apakah doa dan belajar memperbaiki diri sudah cukup "ikhtiar" (menunggu ada laki-laki yg datang menghampiri untuk taaruf)".

Btw, enggak ada salah bener sih, sesuai prinsip masing-masing.

Aku membayangkan adik penanya memang se-menjaga pergaulan itu, se-minim komunikasi itu, ala ukhti-ukhti berkerudung panjang yang se-menjaga itu. Dan, kalau boleh aku memberi sedikit opini (walau ybs gak nanya ke aku), ada beberapa point yang ku highlight:

Kata-kata orangtua ybs bener. Enggak bisa cuma memasrahkan dengan doa, menunggu semesta, duh klise banget. Kalaupun memang se-menjaga pergaulan itu, setidaknya, kamu aktif di kegiatan A/B/C, kamu menunjukkan bahwa "kamu ada di dunia mereka yang potensial yang akan mengajak taaruf suatu saat, entah kapan". Kamu berinteraksi ya selayaknya pertemanan sosial pada umumnya, dengan perempuan atau laki-laki. Belajar biar gak baperan.

"Rasanya sulit dan kurang etis". Memang, masih banyak, yang mengganggap itu sulit, "duh gak mungkin nanya duluan, aku nanti dikira apa". Kalau memang terasa sulit dan mustahil, kamu bisa minta tolong teman/kolega untuk menanyakan apakah beliau available atau gak. Berkali-kali, aku selalu bilang ke teman-teman ku soal ini, "kalau kamu sudah di level sakit kepala kepikiran terus sama beliau, nunggu dilamar tapi gak dilamar-lamar, cuma bisa diam diam diam, mending tanya, either tanya langsung atau lewat teman". And it works. Kalo beliau gak available atau gak berminat sama kamu, done, kamu bisa move cari yang lain. Gak usah investasi perasaan kelamaan.

"Apakah doa dan memperbaiki diri sudah cukup sebagai ikhtiar?" Dulu, narasi "memperbaiki diri" untuk bertemu orang baik, aku setuju. Tapi sekarang, aku pikir, ya upgrade diri buat diri sendiri lah yang utama, perkara itu akan mengantarkan ke bertemu yang baik itu bonus. Kamu lebih rajin ibadah misalnya, rajin skinkeran biar muka terawat, ya buat diri sendiri dulu. Dan sekali lagi, hanya berdoa dalam diam memohon dipersatukan, menurutku klise banget.

"Menunggu ada laki-laki yang datang". Enggak salah, tapi jangan sampai terjebak kalau, kondisi atau praktek sosial dan komunikasi mu se-terjaga/se-minim itu. Era 4.0 ini, jalur komunikasi itu banyak. Kalau misal kamu bertemu dalam satu event panitia, biasanya event punya akun sosmed, ya bisa lah di-follow dulu, terus komen/react, intinya biar beliau notice kalau kamu ada di dunianya. Nanti bisa mengalir dengan sendirinya secara organik.

Ya, cuma 4 point. Ini berdasar pengalaman aja, selama gap 9 tahun dari lulus kuliah dulu. Jangan sampai menyesal hanya berdoa saja. Bahkan kamu lapar pun pas di kosan tengah malam, kamu perlu nyeduh indomie kan?, tanpa keluar kosan beli ke warmindo.

Oh ya, kalau memang tidak ada orang yang potensial yang kamu inginkan, kamu bisa minta tolong ke teman/kolega/keluarga untuk dicarikan.
