Twice a year, the train would pull into the station, carrying the newest Victor to show to the world. Every time, Pyx would stand to the side, a former Victor ready to greet the latest in to share the honor. In her simple white dress, simple ballet flats are on her feet and hair tied in its normal braid, Pyxis waited like it was just another year. As if these games hadn't brought more tragedy than normal.

When they all stepped off the train, she had her smile on her face. It took a mention in the speech for her to remember one of her tributes names, her face having a moment of 'aha!' before trying to subdue it. The skies above were grey and overcast, the waves reacting to the skies anger and thrumming against the shores loud enough to be heard from the center of the district.

When the speeches were over, and any greeting and celebration was to occur, is when Pyxis went over to Cress. The woman had traveled with the District Twelve Victor (something Pyxis was sure had a reason that she had missed or forgotten).

"Why did you ask me if I was reaped?" It was abrupt. Out of place. But she had to know why that had been important.

After his date with Monty, he was now obliged to fulfill his deal with Cress. She had watched Shimmer in exchange for all the details once he was free. So the two of them were sitting down for lunch in the Tower together on the Twelfth Floor. He was all smiled as he sat across from his friend.

"Truthfully Cress, I have no idea where to start. It all just sorta happened? Though I'm absolutely blaming you, and fully believe you orchestrated this. Begging me to go to District Zero, and then what happened there. There's no way that doesn't go hand in hand."

She'd heard the news that Cress had her baby and immediately went back to her Quarters to look for the present she'd bought for this moment. It was a rattle filled with sea shells, making noise as it was moved around. Hopefully she'd enjoy playing with it once she was old enough. Coral knocked on the door to Cress's room, making sure to enter quietly in case the baby was asleep. She hadn't been around many children, but she had heard that it wouldn't be good to interrupt their sleep. "Hi. Is this a good time, or should I come back later?"

"You're welcome!" Alice musters a grin, momentarily happy that she had helped out. She just wants to help. Cressida has been trying so hard and is clearly struggling as well; she can't just keep crying in bed all day, no matter how much she wants to. But that grief still sticks to her bones even during moments of fleeting happiness. She's exhausted, somehow in two different ways that she doesn't know if she would be able to explain. Isn't tired just needing to sleep?

She nods when Cressida asks her if she's eaten enough. It doesn't compare to how much she wants to stuff her face nor did it taste as good as she had wanted, but it was enough.

She sighs heavily as she moves to sit Cressida's lap, laying her head against her chest. "Do you think it will ever go back to normal? So we don't have to hide?" Maybe if they didn't have to hide, she'd be able to find her family again. Cressida could be part of their family too. She wouldn't have to be alone and she could be friends with Eloise again.

i’m so resistant to making things easier for myself.  i feel like i’m already too lazy so i need to just get to the point where i can do the hard thing and that requires pushing myself and discipline.

but it’s like, i would never expect the same from anyone else in my situation or similar.  i would totally advise them to do the easier thing or anything at all that would facilitate a little bit of comfort or joy in their lives.  and i know that by upholding my ridiculous standards i’m not setting a good example for anyone else either.

this double standard is exhausting and hurtful and i wish i could stop trying to be perfect when 1) i clearly cannot do most of these things i’m forcing myself through and 2) good enough is good enough

His half aware state earlier reminded me a lot of how Malt was when we first met and how Fluffy experiences things currently. Which is kinda interesting.

Also he says he can't see, which is also interesting-- I think En and Cleric (my two less sentient pieces of clothing) can see? I need to double check with them; I may have just assumed that.
