Devotion affects everyone differently, it can override morals and make you blind to the change around you. The Dream Team are no strangers to that.

Or a c!dteam fic about devotion.

Devotion is a funny thing. The idea of loving someone through it all. To lose it all for someone, but to have everything because they are everything. Devotion is different than love. Love can change. Love can morph into something unrecognizable. But devotion is whole-hearted. Devotion is to the ends of the earth and time. Devotion means through death, still, we will not part.

Sapnap knows devotion very well. He wouldn't be standing here, letting his former best friend live another day, if he wasn't devoted. Sapnap promised to kill Dream, but devotion shields him from fate. Sapnap loved Dream, a different Dream than this one. This Dream hurts and lies. Sapnap struggles with his love for this Dream. Residual love overtakes the apprehension that comes with this Dream. But Sapnap's devotion isn't shaken; it can't be hidden away or ignored.

There's a hope in Sapnap's heart, a small fragile hope. A frail prayer to fate that Dream, his Dream, will come back. That his Dream will smile and greet him again one day. His Dream is one that loves, one that helps and protects. His Dream is devoted to the server. His Dream would never leave a failed-country sized crater in the world, much less create one. So Sapnap's devotion is to his Dream, and his devotion listens to his hope that this Dream will be his Dream once again.

Sapnap's devotion shows itself in defending his lovers, putting himself in a wither's way to protect them. And it's in doing anything to keep his family around, agreeing to grief the newcomers base to keep his friend awake and aware for longer than a few minutes. It's in knowing in every life he will be drawn to the man who is destined to forget him. Devotion is saying yes to a party, hosted by his mind-controlled bloodthirsty father. Sapnap's devotion is shown in defying his promise to kill, allowing his exploded star of a best friend to live again and again and again.

Sapnap's devotion is shown in what he does for other people.

George's devotion is shown in what he feels for other people.

George has a problem distinguishing dreams from reality. A wonderfully awful mix of denial and a tricky little god who likes to give George too much of what he wants. George wants his friends back, so, clinging to the hope of a happy family, he makes a deal with a god with a stolen face. George wants to mess around like old times, so his god let's him cause chaos. And when his high is at its peck, the whole world resets like George had never had an impact on it at all.

George is angry and lost and annoyed and missing Dream. So he befriends a god in hopes of getting him back. And he stands outside a prison every night hoping. But Dream is different, he's pushy and tries to use George, he doesn't give George what he wants. Or that Dream doesn't.

Dream, his Dream, would put George's needs first. Would chose him to burn the server down over some stupid idiot who isn't George. His Dream would protect him from all his troubles. Or at least, the Dream that George wants would. His loyal knight would never allow for George's crown to be revoked, would never let George drift way. But he did. So George misses his Dream and griefs their server with Sapnap and kills his god. All the while his devotion rots him from the inside out.

George's devotion is shown in what he feels for other people.

And Sapnap's devotion is shown in what he does for other people.

But Dream's devotion is shown in what does to himself for other people.

Dream has a plan. And devotion helped him write it. Dream's devotion wraps itself around him, tangling him to the separate pieces of himself. The community house, his family, his people, his attachments. All of them connected and tied together both the puppet and the puppet master. Equally controlled and in control.

Devotion guides Dream down a set path. Clear and planned. Anything to achieve his goal of a happy family once again, even if it means months isolated and a negative reputation. Any means necessary to get to the end. Devotion and its plan make being a villian easy to control, so easy he forgets its also in control of him too. Devotion makes pretending to be cold and unattached reasonable. Devotion rationalizes his decisions. Devotion to the server, to one big happy family, to George, to Sapnap makes "by any means necessary" a small stepping stone to his end.

Dream is tired, but he stays awake. Dream is hurt, but he pushes through. Dream is in the prison, but he chose to be. Dream is in control, but devotion is in control right back.

It will all make sense. It will all come together. Just a few more steps. Just follow the plan. Devotion tells him. No matter what it costs you.

Dream would run himself into the ground. And George would burn it all to the ground. And Sapnap would throw himself between the one he's protecting and the ground. And devotion would push the ground up agaisnt them and say again and again and again. Because devotion is whole-hearted. And devotion is to the ends of the earth and time. And devotion means through death, still, we will not part. And devotion is a funny thing.

Helloo, how are you doing everyone. Today story started off one way with an idea I had but a TikTok I saw by @_theconfusedraccoon_ . It’s one of the most viewed videos.They had a cool idea so I combined them both. Also should I write like a qsmp story. If I were would you mind being a co-parent with someone or being a single parent? Anyways today song is, ‘El Tango De Roxanne,’ by Jose Feliciano, Ewan McGregor, and Jacek Koman. It's nice to feel important to someone. Being their go-to. Or their favorite person. Making them feel nice. Knowing every little thing about them. Hanging out with each other. Never leaving their side.

But there is always a one-sided love. Many feel that way. Maybe I am on that side. Maybe I'm on that side of only giving love and never receiving it. I would always have my hopes up but slowly finds out they give their love to one another. His love isn't for me. How he says the word. It's not real. I prayed that it is real. It's not. That is the problem with him and me. I mean it every time. He just says it because that's what I want to hear.

As much as I want to hear it. And hear the truth. He wasn't gonna give it to me.

I tried to brush it off but enough is enough. After dealing with him, Wilbur, Schlatt, Karl, and Sapnap. They were his priority. Even someone as new as Slimecicle. At the prison, I stood inside as I'm one of the guards while Sam was taking a break. Well, more like I put something in his drink for him to sleep. And Bad was with skeppy so he wasn't the main problem. Walking toward his cell. Pulling the lever down to see the lava fall only to see a figure in the cell. Going over to the side of the panel turning off the camera and putting everything in a chest but only bringing pearls. I threw a pearl into the cell as I stared at him. The scars on his body dried blood. His mask with a crack. 'What do you want y/n?'

The alarm was ringing. Saying HE has escaped from prison. Everyone started to rush to the jail. Waiting for his escape but he is nowhere to be seen. Quackity left as soon as we went to Las Nevada to see where was everyone. It was empty. Till the front of the casino was Dream looking at the casino and then at him. 'Quackity,' he only stared, 'it's been a long time hasn't it?' Who am I kidding you were torturing me every day in that jail cell. Now I'm back to get my revenge.'  He slowly brought out an axe. 'But we are missing someone don't you think,' giving a smirk and going back to one of the pillars bringing out someone with a bag over their head. 'The lover of yours,' he brought me down to my knees. ‘Quite easy to catch just stood here waiting for you to come home.' dream kneel to me as he put the blade up to my throat. 'Now it's your decision, good old friend,' his head turned back to quackity. 'Choose. That all you have to do is choose.' Quackity eyebrows furrowed, 'Choose what?' Oblivious he was. 'Choose, your lover or this country. Choose one and I will leave. If you this country I will leave this alone but take y/n with me. If you choose y/n, this country will die in vain. Blown up with TNT. Now you have to choose.' All Quackity did was stare between me on my knees and then look around his country. He looked down at the floor then at Dream. 'I want you to leave this place and never come back. Never step foot in my country. Again.' He never looked at me once. Dream brought me up as we both walked. Walked out of his country. I didn't look back at him. Not once.

Once they were out of his vision and in a secret place. Dream and Y/n took off the mask and bag covering their face. To only see Dream holding the bag. Y/n giving him his mask. 'He never truly cared for me,' Y/n stared out a window to see the lights of the sign. 'But you already knew what he would choose  Haven't you?' He walks over to their side and nods. 'I needed confirmation if I was true I would rather know he doesn't care than just be hurt in the relationship. Thank you for helping Dream.' He gives a nod, 'Thanks for getting me out but Now it's Revenge for everyone that has tortured me.'

you know what i love a c!dreamteam that are innately connected to nature in a way that defines them. sapnap born in fire, passionate and volatile, subdued to provide his strength to others. george a king of toadstools, blooming in the dark, inadvertently coping his way through decay. dream having the energy of light, reflecting people and their view of him, absorbed by surrounding darkness. to me any desire for a feeling of control was right beside their longing for permanence. i mean that was a long and painful journey for the heart of it to be "i miss knowing the love was there, i miss when that was enough" but well. what does nature have if not it's hardwiring to persist.
