Hint: It's a scam.
They are not authorized or funded by congress, and you have to sign a waiver that bars you from any recourse if they don't pay the promised money.

Czarina-VM, study of Microsoft tech stack history. Preview 1
Write down study notes about the evolution of MS-DOS, QuickBASIC (from IBM Cassette BASIC to the last officially Microsoft QBasic or some early Visual Basic), "Batch" Command-Prompt, PowerShell, Windows editions pathing from "2.11 for 386" to Windows "ME" (upgraded from a "98 SE" build though) with Windows "3.11 for Workgroups" and the other 9X ones in-between, Xenix, Microsoft Bob with Great Greetings expansion, a personalized mockup Win8 TUI animated flex box panel board and other historical (or relatively historical, with a few ground-realism & critical takes along the way) Microsoft matters here and a couple development demos + big tech opinions about Microsoft too along that studious pathway.
( Also, don't forget to link down the interactive-use sessions with 86box, DOSbox X & VirtualBox/VMware as video when it is indeed ready )
Yay for the four large tags below, and farewell.

“But after thinking it over for about a day, they followed the instructions in the OPM email and replied with the word "resign" in the body and their name in the subject line.
A few hours later, they received a response from OPM: "We received your email response. We will reply shortly," according to an email reviewed by ABC News.
Nearly a week later -- and days before the resignation deadline on Thursday -- that message is the last direct correspondence this employee has had with OPM about accepting the offer.
The employee said that inside their agency, there has been confusion among their colleagues and silence from management. When they informed management that they had accepted OPM's offer, they received no response, according to the employee.
Later, when they followed up with management, they were told they should have waited for more guidance before accepting the offer, they told ABC News.
The employee said that management initially told them that they would still have to work even after resigning -- though they later clarified that would not be the case.”

The Three Moods of Book Unhauling:
1. If there's even a marginal chance Half Price Books will give me at least a nickel for this imma try and sell it.
2. The Friends of the Library love me. The patrons of the library book sale love me. I'm gonna be the queen of donations and all these books are gonna go STRAIGHT to new homes in the arms of people who actively want them. 🥰
3. Woooo, going on a road trip (around my town and a few neighboring ones) being a book fairy at all the Little Free Libraries I can find!
Usually I am only in one of these moods at a time, or maybe two so I have somewhere to divert the ones I know won't sell, but right now I am experiencing all three at once, which means it is a real struggle to decide what to do with the 5-10 year old books I got super-cheap in bag/garage sales because they are so perfectly pristine and new, only to realize they may not actually be that popular on the secondhand market -- I saw one of them in the HPB clearance section just yesterday, in fact, one that is regrettably part of a trilogy (all of which I have ready to rehome) to boot.
#at the beginning of summer I was definitely in Sell Sell Sell mode but now donations for the library sale close in 3 weeks SO gotta decide!#really wish I could get over my fear of shipping packages so I could open a Pango storefront. think I could do decently well there.#do u think Half Price Books will ever reverse their policy of refusing to tell you which books you bring in have 0 value to them?#like can they at LEAST tell you if you agree to accept their offer?? they're so scared of being used for free advice on what's profitable#but surely once they've secured the buyout it's no skin off their nose to let you choose if you want the culls back

the upcoming tiktok ban/forced US buyout is obviously bad for a myriad of reasons but it is undeniably very funny that the motive behind targeting tiktok specifically was an attempt to get The American Youth to be less sympathetic towards China and it turns out that the segment of The American Youth online enough to have been influenced by that kind of stuff just jumped ship to RedNote, where they've reportedly been realizing that Chinese people use the internet too and are really funny. i don't want to make any grandiose sweeping statements about how this is counteracting years of sinophobic US govt propaganda but this is the most pro-China i've seen the reddit-and-tiktok Overton window in, like, ever. so the "stop The American Youth from sympathizing with China" initiative has backfired before even passing and had the exact opposite intended effect. and there's still time for Musk to bumble in and make a ridiculous offer for a buyout and run tiktok into the ground after renaming it "Y"

Saying he was just more deadweight hampering the executive branch’s ability to function efficiently, Elon Musk confirmed Monday that he had offered himself $10 billion to resign from his position as head of President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency. “Like many other federal employees, I too have been presented with a buyout option as part of my effort to create a more streamlined and flexible government workforce,” said Musk, adding that he had given himself until Feb. 6 to accept the terms of a “dignified, fair departure” from his government position.

In July, before the latest WP Engine blowup, an Automattic employee wrote in Slack that they received a direct message from Mullenweg sending them an identification code for Blind, an anonymous workplace discussion platform, which was required to complete registration on the site. Blind requires employees to use their official workplace emails to sign up, as a way to authenticate that users actually work for the companies they are discussing. Mullenweg said on Slack that emails sent from Blind’s platform to employees’ email addresses were being forwarded to him. If employees wanted to log in or sign up for Blind, they’d need to ask Mullenweg for the two-factor identification code.

jarno widar will stay on the lotto devo team through 2025
jarno i am begging you to resist the siren call of uae and red bull
#sounds like it's pretty messy behind the scenes though#like “he can't go to the main team next year bc they'd have to break his contract open to do that”#“and if they break open the contract they can't make him a good enough offer to keep him from going somewhere else” kind of messy#so he's sort of trapped - do another year on lotto devo or get in a potentially messy legal battle to try and go somewhere else#that said a second u23 year was always in his plans and he's talked about wanting to focus on u23 races like l'avenir and u23 worlds#lotto has evidently said if they can't provide him enough support after next year then he can go without a buyout clause#which seems very likely unless they get a huge new sponsor#jarno widar#little guy posting

this has a very good summary of everything that's been going on with wordpress if you haven't been keeping up with it, i'm going to copy/paste the list of Goings On from the table of contents to give you an idea:
I’m sorry, what happened?
Automattic approaches WP Engine to offer a “license”
Matt’s rejected, so he tries new strategies
Wait—what’s Matt’s actual deal? Why is he doing this?
Matt claims WP Engine is misrepresenting itself
Matt claims WP Engine is selling a “cheap knock-off” of WordPress
Matt says WP Engine doesn't give back enough
An aside on motivations and justifications
The WordCamp US fallout and Matt’s abuse of power
WP Engine’s reaction
Matt melts down
Matt goes nuclear
Updates: everything that’s happened since October 1st
Matt talks taking over WP Engine
Automattic releases the terms sheet, which kinda backfires
WP Engine files suit against Matt and Automattic
Matt offers buyouts to Automattic employees
159 Automattic employees take the buyout; Matt hires a famous lawyer who's a horrible human
Matt gleefully exposes a vulnerability in ACF, but prevents WPE from fixing it
Matt adds a vague anti-WP Engine checkbox to WordPress.org, but fails to clarify why, all while playing the victim
Matt commandeers ACF, using WordPress.org to steal a competitor's product
Previous lawsuits against Matt come to light
Matt responds to the 'other lawsuits'
Matt wars against dissenters with second buyout offer; threatens employees who speak out; intercepts employees' emails
WP Engine files an injunction to regain access to WordPress.org
#original#sorry about the italics but i didn't think i could blockquote and keep all the bullets#and wanted to make it clear this was all borrowed text#anyway. now i'm getting emails letting me know plugin updates won't come from wordpress servers anymore.#so that's the stage of community trust we're at lol

So, they’re going after the agents at the FBI who took up the call to weaponize the branch to cover the fraud and target opponents. That’s 5,000 of the 13,000 agents, or 38% of their workforce.
Now, every CIA employee is being offered a buyout.
Meaning, the CIA is the nucleus and not redeemable compared to the FBI. The FBI will get gutted. The CIA needs to go. Maybe both will be combined into something new and better.
