I'm Obsessed with Monkie King and Macaque's dynamic!!

When i first saw the show, I didn't know much of anything about it and just from previous troupes I assumed Macaque was just a 'bad guy'. He was very quickly my favortie villan tho. And then, as I got to season 4 and saw their past, the two of them got a grip on me.

Because, usually, you would assume that the gloomy dark one would have done something bad to the light one, right? (shitty troupe but yk it's common) That's the troupe. They had a falling out and it's probably something along those lines. That was my idea anyway.

Then i watched the show Again and realized that in some of the flashbacks it had Wukong stabbing Macaque in the face/head. LIke very suddenly this show wen tfrom oh they're rivals and they used to be best friends. To, oh they were best friends and definatly more, to oh they had a falling out and one of them tried and *succedded* in killing the other. But it wasn't the 'bad guy' character, the moody one. Nope it's the Main Character's mentor, the *hero*, is the one who killed his best friend husband.

And That is what pulled me in so hard that I've had to rewatch the show again. Because OF COURSE when Macaque is brought back by LBD, he'd be vengeful and want to kill Wukong. But then yk we see form the beginning that he doens't Really want to hurt MK or Wukong, even tho he would never ever admit it.

Like I just. Holy fuck Lego. I Love that so so much. It's so painful to think about too, espeically with those flashbacks in Season 4. Or memories or whatever they're called. And Peng's line about there being 'nothing Wukong could do to break his hold over you' to Macaque.

Even tho Monkie King not only had a falling out with Macaque, he also fought and *killed* him. And Still, Macaque ends up helping him and allowing him back into his life. At least a little. I hope by Season 5 they'll be more in a reluctant friendship again yk. Bc yeah, Macaque fucked up too, Monkie King Wasn't the only one who fucked up but he undoubtably did the most damage to their friendship relationship. I'm gonna be thinking about this Forever.

TLDR: Monkie King being the one to have done the 'unforgivable' thing that ended his and Macaque's friendship even tho he's the 'hero' of the show is incredibly good story telling and I'm totally normal about it.

Yk what actually I'm gonna actually post thought-out Diasuke hate to prove a point here. Daisuke is also not this perfect little guy that everyone characterizes him as. He goes along with some of the casually sexist things Jimmy says during their optional conversations. He agrees to drug Swansea, which in itself is a very blunt implication that Jimmy has drugged people's drinks before. (Obviously Jimmy bullied him into it, but abusers do that with a lot of people that are labeled "enablers" so like. Daisuke isn't at fault there but it calls into question what he might have done in other scenarios, where the violence is aimed at more vulnerable people. But that's not something we will ever know.) And most of all Daisuke DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THAT ANYA IS GOING TO KILL HERSELF. His biggest flaw is that he's completely emotionally oblivious and is not someone Anya would ever feel comfortable confiding in. And that's not an endearing trait. And just cause I know someone is gonna take me in bad faith idrc if you hc him as like neurodivergent or whatever like coming from an autistic person who really struggles with empathy, it's not fun, and it's not quirky, it just causes issues. Sympathy and self-awareness is definitely something that can be worked on regardless of your capacity for empathy. (To varying degrees of success obviously. I'm not judging people who genuinely can not sympathize with others. But also, Daisuke probably isn't even intended to be autistic. At this point we're kind of just projecting and lying about canon, aren't we? Not to say it couldn't be an interesting angle for analysis but again. It's not actually part of the text.) EVERY crewmember contributes to the systemic misogyny on that ship. If Curly intentionally ignores it, Daisuke hasn't even come to the conclusion that it exists yet. He is also part of the problem.

But none of that makes Daisuke a uniquely bad person! Obviously! Imo it doesn't even make him a bad person at all! He inadvertently contributes to the system that fucked them all over. And? All of the characters in this game are nuanced and morally grey and that's kind of the point!!! (Except Jimmy lol. Nuanced yes but there's a very clear villain there.) Like pointing out a character's flaws and concluding they're bad is not the intelligent take fandoms tend to think it is. Ok, you've identified a character flaw. Now what does it mean. What does it contribute to what the game is trying to say? And I think this is the root of what's so frustrating about people debating whether Curly or Swansea is actually Good or Bad. I really, truly don't think we're here to make moral judgements about individuals. We're here to examine the systemic issues that allowed the story to take place at all. And obviously, every character lives in a god damn society and has had those bad traits rub off on them! Like. Can we move past this base level of moral analysis already? Please. Please.

But them being together...idk man, they were too..."booktokish" for my liking, yk? and i do love banter and teasing, but they were like basic "i like you but i like winning more" "couple". Not to mention they were so random...like where did they come from? Reading the cursed child (scorbus, norvelize version in a03). I read the script years ago when I was 11 (funfact it was the first harry potter book I've ever bought). - okay so finished it!! When I was a kid I don't quite like the time travel thingy and find it very confusing but I think it's because it's a screenplay yk, and it was meant to be watched not read. But the novel version did help a lot (and I give the author my hundreds of gratitude, her writing is absolutely beautiful! And she captured the characters perfectly! If you're scared to read The Cursed Child, read her novel version in ao3!!!).

I'm surprised that I actually love the plot more than I thought I would. Yeah it can get a bit unrealistic at times but all in all it's very entertaining and Albus and Scorpius are very well written, very rounded and nuanced characters that carry the book. I'm glad their parents didn't overshadow their personality etc (like them being mini-copies of Harry and Draco). They're their own person and I love that about them!!

They're not Drarry or even Jegulus as I've seen people say, they're in their own league. There are no enemies or hatred or tension between them; Scorpius and Albus genuinely like each other so much from the first they laid their eyes on each other and I adore them for it.

I read a theory that Albus was sent in Slytherin because he subconsciously wanted to be in a house with this kind boy met on the train and it made me want to cry (they were made for each other). (Although I do think Albus have many Slytherin traits, Scorpius I was less sure he screamed Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw to me but admittedly he can be cunning to).

So yeah, I don't think it's that bad as everyone said (and my 11 y/o self). It's fun and I actually cried a lot at the end of it (I have to watch Jily die, do you have any idea what that did to me???) (I don't even ship them but i swear this book set me to default back to canon).

I really want to watch the play, would die for it but it's impossible and I can only dream.xoxo

i grabbed my bags out of my car boot, harshly gripping them between my fingers, which the knuckles of began to loose their colour from the chill in the air. after shutting the car doors and locking it up i begin storming down the pebbled drive towards my little cottage of a home. i sigh as i drop my bags and twist the key into the lock. i walk into the warmth of my house- silence greets me. after a full day at work, a very busy day might i add, then running about 5 errands i expect my home to be as i left it, cleaned to perfection. my eyes squint at the crumbs left all over hallway’s floor, i walk through them and set my bags onto the kitchen’s table- only to see condiments and dirty dishes scattered on the counters.

i quickly put my food shopping away, then hastily clean the house top to bottom, from hoovering to polishing to mopping to cleaning all of his dirty clothes because god forbid he contribute anything to this house and take any weight off my already drowning shoulders. i bury my face into my hands and curl up on my sofa, after sitting like this for a few minutes i decide to sit up and distract myself, flipping through a few tv channels to find a decent one.

i wonder why i’m even here, i was only meant to be in gravity falls temporarily, after my mother decided i was too much for her, she shipped me off to live with my aunt for the summer- aunty suz, or as the locals called her, lazy suzan. she ran a diner, which i helped out with as my keep, and there i met the twins. i felt like mable understood me, she really helped me deal with my mental health and overcome it all. she was my bestfriend- until i fell for him. i made the stupid mistake of choosing bill cipher, a living breathing demon, over my bestfriend. and now i’m stuck in this hell hole- gravity falls.

“loving boyfriend my ass..” i mumbled, throwing the tv remote to the ground in frustration.

“what about me were you saying, peach?” he smirks, materialising out of no where, with a snarky expression.

“what the fuck have you been doing all day cipher? i work my ass off and i come home to the house a state?” i plead, standing up to be someone as tall as the floating figure.

“i can do whatever the fuck i want peach, whatever i want-“ he grabs me by the chin, “you listen to me, you’re a puppet in my hands, you’re lucky i’m even giving the time of day. you’re only around because i like you, and you’re so lucky i like you because do you wanna know what would happen if i didn’t?”

i push myself away from him, i regretfully look in my eyes, i don’t know what to do, so i just stand there, scared, confused, anxious yet angry.

“i’m going, don’t try and get in my head, i don’t want you there.” i announce, before storming off and grabbing my handbag.

“i’ll never get out of your head, you belong to me remember, you’re nothing without me.” he announced, as though he’s just next to me but he isn’t. i’m in the car, applying as much pressure to the accelerator as i can- and he’s no where near me. he’s in my fucking head again. i have no space, no boundaries, i’m not just me, i’m him too- and i have no choice. i can’t escape.

i break as hard as i can, in the middle of a road, no cars were within a mile radius of me, perks of living i. a quiet town. i scream, a blood curdling scream, my nails clawing into my h/c, tears stream out of my eyes. sobbing uncontrollably i feel an arm snake around me, pulling me close.

he’s shushing me, trying to calm me down as a shriek and cry into his chest, not sure if i should push him away or accept him embrace. his boney hands stroke my h/c and instantly calms me, not by my choice though- the bastard is in my head again.

“i’ve given everything for you bill.” i state, wiping my tears away, a dead look in my eyes.

“i’m sorry peach,” he hugs me tightly, “i know i’m shitty, but i’m so sorry.”

and he just holds me, let’s me stay in his arms, i focus on my breathing, as he plays with my hair, he whispers a small ‘i love you’ in my ear, i hum back to him, too exhausted to process what’s really happened.

i wake up in my bed, changed into my favourite fleecy pyjamas, a very worried demon next to me.

i yawn, stretching my arms up, turning to him i say “and how did i get here?” my voice a little gruff from sleepiness.

“you don’t think i was going to let you sleep in the car do you? what kinda demon do you think i am?” he replied in his usually snarky yet flirtatious voice.

“ah yes sorry, you’re such the gentleman- how could i forget,” i giggle back at him before rolling away to the other side of the bed.

You whipped your head around to see Usopp looking back at you, flashing a knowing smirk.

"What can I say, I'm an envious person." You shrugged nonchalantly.

Usopp made his way to stand next to you copying your stance of resting on the railing.

"It's not like it will have any affect, they both clearly have their own thing going on." You gestured glumly to Zoro and Nami who stood laughing amongst themselves.

What was she saying that was so funny anyway? You could make Zoro laugh more.

"Why don't you just tell him how you feel?" Oh, Usopp.

You sighed and forced your gaze away from Zoro. "It's not that easy."

Though Zoro was a quiet person, that didn't mean he wasn't observant.

He'd noticed you'd been trying to avoid him, which was hard considering you lived on the same ship as him, and were on the same crew.

Zoro left it for a while, deciding not to speak up because he thought it was just a phase you were going through.

He took notice of your lingering looks when he spoke with Nami, but the thought of jealousy never crossed his mind.

Zoro wasn't the only observant member of the crew, Sanji and Nami noticed something was wrong with you.

Nami, Sanji and Zoro sat out on the deck underneath Nami's tiny tangerine trees.

Sanji took a puff of his cigarette before filling the silence. "Don't you think Y/n's been acting weird lately?"

Nami looked up from the map she was reading. "Yeah, I've noticed a little bit of tension." She swiftly looked at Zoro and back at Sanji.

"I saw that look." Zoro said bluntly.

Of course, Nami played dumb. "What look?"

"The one you just gave me."

Sanji huffed and shook his head. "Don't you think we should find out? She's our friend."

Both Zoro and Nami nodded.

Both Sanji and Nami tried so hard to get you to open up by pairing you with Zoro for various activities or jobs.

The plan worked for a while, you and Zoro would sit and chat for hours, only when Nami came would you go back to brooding.

Usopp seemed to catch on to Nami and Sanji's plan and told them of your feelings for Zoro and why you would slump every time Nami was around.

Zoro had his own suspicions of your strange behaviour, and decided he would confront you when the others weren't around.

Sighing, you knelt on the railing, gazing upon the vast blue sea.

"Can't sleep?" A deep voice interrupted the tranquil silence, but it was Zoro, so you didn't mind.

"Hmm, what about you?" You turned so you were facing him.

"Too much drink."

Both of you chuckled and your gaze returned to the horizon.

"I've...noticed" Zoro didn't plan exactly what he would say to you, so go with the flow it is. "You've been avoiding me."

"Is the problem with me or is it with Nami? Because every time she comes around, you start acting weird and-"

"Because I'm jealous!"

You didn't want to say anything else, so you let him stood there, just him and the stars to talk to.

Ever since that night, you'd been avoiding Zoro even more, almost as if you were afraid you'd catch the plague from him.

None of the crew knew what to do, and it wouldn't help that Zoro wouldn't explain why your behavior had gotten worse, even though they knew he knew something.

This was a job for Luffy.

Luffy found you on the goat head of the Going Merry, making his way over to sit with you.

"Are you alright?"

You turned with surprise, not expecting Luffy. "oh, hey Cap."

"Expecting someone else?" He gave you a dopey smile, adjusting his straw hat.

You shook your head.

"So, what's up with you?"

You huffed, but you could trust Luffy with everything, why not just admit it?

"I told Zoro I was jealous."

"Of?"

You took a minute to go over the thoughts in your head. "Of him and Nami. They're always laughing together and talking. I mean, me and Zoro would do that, but when he's with Nami it just looks..."

You took in his appearance before remembering why you were actually there.

Instead of interrupting you, Zoro decided to stand and listen, to let you voice your feelings.

When you finished, you stood and gaped at him. Tears were brimming and your cheeks were aflame.

"I'm not good with words." Zoro admitted just a little embarrassed. "But...maybe my actions could help?"

He grabbed your face gently, caressing the redness of your cheeks with such tender strokes you could've melted.

It was when he pressed his lips to yours that your heart finally felt complete, and the weight of jealousy was lifted from your shoulders.

You both didn't say that you had feelings for the other, the serene kiss voiced everything it needed to.

I guess in my head, if someone wanted to play around with the idea of, like (as an example bc im a dyke), "what if Kristen dated a man" in fic, I don't really care? Off the cuff, I know like 3 people who had once identified as lesbian and turned out to turn to other labels to describe themselves - some because their gender turned out to be different than they thought, and some because their attraction was different than they thought, and if someone saw themselves in Kristen like that, I don't think that's wrong of them to write. I don't think that erases canon Kristen, you know? She's still a lesbian in canon, even if someone explores potential bisexuality in Kristen in fanfic. That isn't undone just because someone wants to write a main-cast polycule, yk?

I can see why people don't like it, though. Like, I can see where its easy to fall into homophobic traps, and even transphobic ones. But...those aren't a given, and I don't think it's wrong of someone to explore religious trauma in an aro/ace Kristen, for example. It's tempting to say 'just write about Riz' but Riz ISNT KRISTEN. I dunno, I feel like its worth approaching fics like this in good faith, and that the nuances of these changes can be really heartfelt and have some good insight in it. In my heart Kristen is the same lesbian she is in canon, but someone else may be seeing how her life rhymes with theirs in other ways they'd like to explore more...and that just means more Kristen! :D In whatever form she takes. <3

physical touch: he isn't big on giving physical affection, it's just not his nature. he doesn't like PDA all too much and in private i believe that he doesn't change. its not that he hates physical touch, it's more like he doesn't like initiating it. if you're touchy and always want to hug or hang off of him who is he to reject your affections. if you were to jump into his arms or just collapse on him he wouldn't say anything about it... well he might complain but its not real complaining. i think instead of initiating hugs and kisses he's more if a kisses your hand or rub the back of your hand with his thumb—kind of guy.

acts of service: he likes to do hard labor to show you love. ofc he dose things like get you a glass of water or get you a blanket from the bottom deck but he likes to show off his strength. if you wanted a fish he'd come back with a whale—stuff like that. he'd try to tone it down if you don't like that but thats his best quality. he likes to do absolutely ridiculous things to simple tasks because he wants to impress you. sometimes sanji gets involved and then he HAS to show off bc who dose sanji think he is trying outdo him at his job (getting you chocolate milk)??????

quality time: he spends his free time training and sleeping mostly so he probably won't invite you to join him on his free time that often unless you like taking naps or watching. i think he'd think he's boring so he probably wouldn't to invite you anyway. sometimes he will just plop down beside you whenever you're on the deck and you two will sit in a comfortable silence. he'll tell you about how he's training to lift a ton or swing his sword faster, but he honestly wants you to do more of the talking. when you leave the ship he always wants to go with you. it doesn't matter if you're leaving to get 1 thing or 100 things or even just a breath of fresh air away from everyone he wants to be with you at all times even if he doesn't explicitly say it.

giving/receiving gifts: he doesn't have any money so dont expect anything extravagant. he gets you more food than anything because thats all he can really get yk. he tries to spice things up by getting you a bird or fruit from a island, maybe even some treasures that villages gift them as a way of saying thank you, but you get a lot of fish from him. he might also give you a kiss as a way of giving you something—you gotta rmr kissing really isn't his thing so that means a lot coming from him!! he's a pirate after all and he cant really show a lot of appreciation towards you in the gift department.

he's also easy to please. be doesn't really expect much, if you gave him a towel he'd cherish it. he knows its hard to really get the other anything especially with a kingpin nami being in charge of the money holding everyone hostage financially so he's be happy with anything. i also think he's also one of those people who are content with what they have/feel like they have all they need. he has his crew, his swords and you—what else dose he really need?
