idk if you guys remember but ochako does have parallels with All Might, specifically as the side who saves. It’s not that he feels the same for them both or something like that, they serve to represent the type of heroism he naturally goes to; his friend is not his love interest, from his perspective she’s out there having a crisis over not being able to save her, and Izuku reminds her that she is a hero bc she is his hero -she saved him multiple times, and she should be able to feel like a proper hero.

This conversation is not about the nature of their relationship, is about heroism; Izuku relates to a conflict between being a hero who saves and failing to save someone, and doesn’t want to see Ochako ending spiraling because she couldn’t also fulfill that role as expected. She’s his hero not because he loves her romantically -he’s a nerd I’m sure he would be way more nervous and blushing if he was confessing anything he thought was romantic- but because she’s able to go and do what All Might does to Izuku, save him physically and emotionally.

He knows she hides her feelings in order to not be a burden, yet he doesn’t talk about his own feelings outside of his guilt in heroics -what does he feel about losing OFA? About his own failures? About the people he personally lost? He can’t talk for others and claim Ochako is everyone’s hero, but he can speak for himself, and that’s his personal perspective -she is a hero to him, she’s his hero. And then the class appears to make sure she’s able to get support and understand she’s not alone, and she’s important to them too.

but Izuku doesn’t get support. Izuku cries a little and talks a little about himself, but he doesn’t get supported. If this was meant to be romantic, I don’t understand why he would hold back what’s inside of him.

the end of the chapter reveals that boy is going to be helped by that woman who regretfully ignored Tenko, and they both witness it and are happy about it while hearing izuku inspired that change, and iida wonders what’s up with them -this is the conclusion to their relationship. In their hearts these two are saviors who struggle to be heroes who save others, and they are happy there are appearing more people who want to be heroes like them. Heroes who save. Save like All Might.

That grandma for example, interpreting the narrative as what I think is intended, would be that boy’s All Might; she’s his hero.

Izuku and Ochako are heroes who save, and Deku is here to remind her at least she did save him many times, that she is still a hero because she is his hero. I don’t believe is meant to be interpreted as romantic, not that Izuku sees that phrase as it neither -after all, he said he does want to be like All Might and feels good to imitate him, but he doesn’t love him.

Ochako’s All Might hair moment, the parallels with Toshinori telling him he can be a hero, the trying to save from black suffocating quirks, the we can do it and do your best…

Do I need to remind you heroes arent a romantic thing for Izuku Midoriya?

I think a really underrated character duo in gravity falls is Dipper and Stan. Like one, I think they are way more similar than people give them credit for. Like Dipper is definitely the one who feels like the ‘inferior’ twin (internally on his part), something reflected in Stan. Also Dipper is generally pretty cunning and willing to throw punches in a Stan-way, you can see Stan rubbing off on him as the show progresses. Dipper in the Stan costume, and that one scene where Stan and Dipper both cross their fingers at the same time for the same promise, both live in my head rent free. In my heart of hearts I think Dipper picks up a bit of Stans con-man tricks in the future (and Mabel goes on some bonding missions w/ Ford, but this post isn’t abt them). Also I just want to say I bet Dipper reminded Stan of a young Ford and that informed some of their early dynamic. Anyway bye just needed this brainworm out

i was talking with a friend about why it is that we find the hocotate ship and Olimar's interactions so great compared to any other dynamic he has in all the games, and it sorta answered itself over time.

I think it was in a vc that they mentioned that it would be very funny if Collin had a single clue to how scummy Olimar can be and not "a really forgiving guy who gets pushed around and has serious mental problems but passive". Like even with Louie- Olimar sees to it that he apologizes to him for snapping or even asking the forgiveness of others on his behalf. With his own boss he contemplates on the fact that if he had died then maybe work could have been better for others around him and it is his fault for surviving. Even with his own family he would never fault them for any hardships and somehow always pin the blame on himself. All the cured leaflings described him to be kind and determined to save them despite being taken over by the pikmin parasite. Even the koppaites feel sorry for him despite the stereotypes dividing them at first

But you know who he doesnt regret being as scummy towards ? THE FUCKING HOCOTATE SHIP !! that ship doesnt coddle him or pity him in the same way others do and instead sasses back with the same energy. He is soo genuine and transparent when talking about that ship its so good to read those two interact because you dont NOT see that with anyone else

I've decided the only reason Lloyd, known descendant of dragons, didn't tell this to Egalt, who refuses to train non-dragons, is for the same reason he never mentioned he's the First Spinjitsu Master's grandson. It just never came up. Nobody asked him directly about it. And besides, he's only like, one-fourth dragon, so does it really count? He doesn't look like a dragon, and he has never in his life considered himself a dragon. Mentioning his ancestry to Egalt probably would've just made him look like some hotshot, or make him more annoyed. There's no need to bring up such a silly little fact. He's sure it won't be important later.

SO uh—i'm really picky about fanfiction. like. really really picky.

i dunno why exactly, but i kinda have a hard time reading them right away bc a) i'm not really a shipper and that's most fanfiction i've seen and b) i like when i can really imagine the characters saying and doing whatever it is they're doing.

y'know the whole "he would not fucking say that" meme? lmao that's me, but with fanfics and only to myself. (i know everyone has their niche and i'm not here to police anybody's fun, just curate my own.)

anyway all that to say that i really, really liked this one. a lot. it's canon divergent off of into the spiderverse, and if you can believe it the comic is literally not a spoiler bc it's in the summary of the fic. but if you liked uncle aaron or even just are a sucker for redemption (? ish?) arcs, i think you'd like it! with all the angst and chaos from atsv it's a nice change of pace.

it was definitely for shipping purposes lmao and i think a lot of how i see their dynamic is colored by this fic which to me is now the choscar blue print lmao. anyway!!!!! i think their dynamic is fun in the way that on paper they shouldn't really fit? they aren't really opposites where you could call them opposites attract and they aren't really similair enough where you can see directly why they would be into each other but i think that makes them so fun. charles is obviously attractive but he's also very good and so i think from oscar there's this kind of starstruck-ness about it?? like we've never seen oscar been really fangirly but he gets this almost starry eyed giggly thing going around charles (almost a bit shy?) that i think is really cute. and then to charles, i think charles actually makes the most sense on why he would be into oscar because charles is like. an all over the place busy kind of guy? he has so many sponsor deals, the ice cream thing, he loves parties, like he's always present. but i think deep down he's also a family man (which i think we can REALLY see with the leo thing lmao) and someone who just wants someone who's like. a home you know? and i think oscar fits that really well. someone calm, who isn't overwhelmed by the insanity of charles leclerc's life, who might sit out a party or three but also will never stop charles from going, someone to come home to at the end of the day, someone who's going to be a rock. idk. i just think there's a lot there. that i might explore. through fic

Okay so here's my thing: I figured I would hop right into part 2 of my babby Tim fic after finishing part 1, and then a really fucked up Tim/Ra's idea jumped into my head and got me by the throat, and now I have mood whiplash from my own brain/writing?!

Also, a scene from my truly stupid, self-indulgent "Jason and Tim accidentally become bros immediately" fic sprung into my sleepy mind and then poured itself out of my fingers fully formed into a Google Doc.

What if I married my university's Classics Department... Good lord! I have been so torn between majors, and I was beginning to lean away from Classics just because of how niche it is, but... I did the Latin placement test and a) did far better than I thought I would b) laughed!!! One of the passages--that presumably the Classics Department people wrote--was just... I was so nervous about that test, but the passage was really funny. And it's the exact kind of humor that I expect from Classics people, and it was, like... deeply comforting and reminded me of home.
