Another thing that drove me crazy is all the character interactions that never happened, or happened offscreen.

Most jarring is probably the Ekko and Jinx reconciliation, but one that nobody talks about is when Jayce and Jinx met for the first time. OFF. SCREEN. Between episodes 6 and 8.

Jayce. Met Jinx. The terrorist who stole and weaponized Hextech and blew up his council while they voted for Zaun's independence and caused literally everything that happened to him in the entire show. They walked all the way from Vik's commune to Piltover together, while they were both at their lowest points. Offscreen. Wtf did they talk about?? Why didn't Jayce like... Obliterate her.

sometimes i think about the gadreel telling dean to kick cas out plotline and am filled with more rage than you can imagine. its NOT even that like. dean was mean to cas or anything im sure he gave cas money or something bc i cant see a world where he kicked cas out with nothing and he was pretty forthright about caring about cas during that sequence where cas wasn't allowed in the bunker.

but its SOOOO obvious the only reason cas didn't get to stay in the bunker was because of the hand of the author. they didnt wanna change the status quo of the show. im not even talking about destiel im talking about the fact that castiel being human, and potentially learning to enjoy being human with his best friends, would destroy the rest of the season's planned plotline for him. he would've just gone completely human and not wanted to be an angel anymore. this would've also meant he could've went on more hunts much earlier than he did in the actual show, and his dynamic with both brothers could've developed during the downtime between him being safe in the bunker and the rest of the season's plotline moving (bc lbr the season plotline doesn't pick up again until holy terror, and this isn't a bad thing its just very obvious)

(although i still stand by that if you wanted to actually successfully pull off the rest of the season you could just have him be kidnapped later, hear that ezekiel is dead, and then have him make the call to become an angel again in order to be able to escape and help dean. like the phonecall where dean is like "and you're okay with that?" re: cas being an angel again would've hit a lot harder bc dean would've been able to pick up on his enjoyment of some aspects of being human)

also the doylist reasoning behind not letting him spend time with cas is also to isolate dean so he starts working with crowley when the gadreel reveal happens.

also lets be fucking real the sexual tension between human cas and dean would've been off the charts they were like we cant fucking write that the fucking (heller comrade) traitors on our writing team WILL make it gay we CANT do that.

So true bestie. The hiatus between season 8-9 was my first in the fandom and we were all CERTAIN that Destiel was going to happen from how gay the last couple of episode were (THE CRYPT SCENE. THE ARROW IN THE BAR.) And then. Then. I mean like people were convinced every season hiatus but there was something in the air for that one. And that thing was destiel. So they stopped letting them hang out.

On the bright side, I enjoy how horrible the experience is for Dean having to lie to both Sam and Cas because I'm a sicko. And it's very funny. He was SO close to having everything he wants (Sam alive and well. Hell closed. Cas with them permanently.) And he can't have that because of one, shall we say, social faux pas. And every day someone is asking him with genuine kindness and love "but Dean, isn't happiness directly in your grasp? Don't you want to grasp it?" And he has to go. Through gritted teeth. "No. I like it like this. This is happiness for me. It's my choice."

It's cringe comedy, it's a comedy of errors, it's lies on lies on lies. It's funny! Especially since Sam just sort of decides to find Cas incredibly charming this season out of nowhere. Just to twist the knife that Dean has to make the problem. So, it might help to reframe it that way haha.

And also, 9.06 is GREAT FUN for me in particular. Ohhh we want to be together so bad but even if we say it nothing will change so we won't and we're both bitter about it but damn do I love you. Catnip for me. It has its problems but the NIP.

I do think that a more charitable part of the Doyalist explanation is a problem they run into very noticeably in s10, 11 and 12: they only have enough money designated for a certain number of guest star appearances. That's why he's "watching The Wire" so often lol. This is an assumption of mine but like. That's gotta be the reason. So they wanted something for Cas to be out there Doing when he's offscreen for long periods (and they were just like 'fuck it' in later seasons)

This is a tangent but I think it's so interesting how obvious in Supernatural it is that practical constraints affect the material plot. All monsters are guys in suits. Season 3 is cut short from the writers strike so Dean goes to Hell. Cas and Mary can't be in as many episodes that they obviously should be in so their character flaws are that they're flakey and often disappear. They couldn't get JDM for a season 3 episode of Dean's nightmare so they had Dean's biggest fear in fact be succumbing to his own self-hatered.

Anyway. In conclusion, season 9 sucks. I agree.

ofc he's absolutely valid for feeling neglected, however – and this will be revealed in future chapters – he was never really neglected in the first place. he simply hates everyone in y/n's life and wanted her all to himself all while maintaining his own social circle as usual. on top of it all, he was actually the one in your ex bf's position since he constantly told y/n things like "nobody can put up with an attitude like yours" or "you're so difficult to talk to i feel like i can't ever have a normal conversation with you" when he simply didn't like her responses in the sense of its meaning and not even necessarily her tone.

you will understand the type of person he is the more chapters come since, yes they broke up, but he'll remain a firm part of the story till the very end!

i hope this somehow makes it a little more understandable which pov i wrote jaemin from.

sympathising with him in that matter is absolutely understandable bc we all would feel the same way, but i can reassure you that CH!jaems isn't one of us 💀

oh also, additionally i gotta comment here that y/n had to raise herself and her siblings and grew up in a very difficult household which lead to her having said attitude jaemin complains so much about. he knew this and basically – as the boys state in chap 5 – has made it his challenge to see if he can have her submit to him and prove himself that he can handle every type of woman.

You know scenes such as Aoyama's traitor reveal, Izuku vs 1-A, and Shirakumo's reveal? Well those are scenes that are supposed to make me feel things, but I don't I've seen how terrible these characters are, and how badly paced the story is that it doesn't allow me to process what's happening And it's like, I WANT to feel for these characters! Hi. Funny you mentioned that bc I was thinking about Shig and his own backstory, actually, the time he stayed with afo.

It is all thanks to a wierd post saying how Shig has cavid and smells bad "hahaha he has no hygiene" and while I know is bs....we never saw the "mundane" part of Shig's life.

Not that I believe in shit as "hahaha he is an incel and never bath" but we never saw him in his off days. AFO(if we go by this stupidity of him wanting to steal Shig's body) would want Shig to at least be healthy to survive and carry his missions.

He took showers and whatnot...not bc "its a luxury. He used the finest products for his body" but bc it was a necessity.

But we never saw how Shig acts in his off days- or if he evem have one of thoses- Shig making food for himself, taking a shower, watching smth on tv non related to heroes or villains....could actually help make us understand him, at least a lil.

The same goes to Izu. He can't catch a break...if he does smth awsome, he wont get credit and shall never be mentioned....and we are supposed to be ok with this.

Its not as if I want people to grovel to Izuku, but I want him to get credit for his good deeds, for his good work. But Hori cant have this...pain, and more pain are in the course for Izu....and it doesnt help the story.

I understand it’s the whole thing about the betrayal of him telling Madge (i think), but can I just say, why shouldn’t he? Reg is quite good about it considering (and compared to others) in the context, but it’s obvious he does struggle reconciling the Laurie he knows with the societal idea he has of ‘cissies’ etc,,, as dramatic as it is from our modern viewpoint, he does have to come to terms with the fact that someone he see’s as a dear friend, a good and proper person, is also someone he’s been told are perverts and criminals (and everything that goes along with those titles.) So why shouldn’t he confide in his partner about it? I assume from his embarrassment at the reveal as well that maybe he made it clear that Madge shouldn’t say anything or something like that. Her bringing it up in front of everyone (considering it is illegal and looked down upon) is the wrongdoing in this scene, not really anything that Reg does. In fact, he seems to have accepted Laurie’s sexuality quite well, because up until that point we kind of get the impression that they’ll continue to be friends along the lines of don’t-mention-it-again, so isn’t it actually kinda nice that it isn’t that Reg is just completely ignoring it all, but that he is bringing it out into the open with his partner in private, trying to come to terms with it in order to continue a friendship with Laurie that’s based more on truth??? Harry potter fic pitch. Post war. The main characters are in their early 20s.

Hermione is a [I cant remember the word for wizard cop] and draco is her work partner. Hermione, happily married and exactly where she wants to be on her career track to make her minister by 35, is the most put together person you would ever meet.

Draco meanwhile is an absolute disaster of a man. He regularly locks himself in their office to have mental breakdowns. He has dated exactly two people, one tried to murder him and the other relationship was just really sad to watch. Hermione is the only one who can regularly put up with him. He became a [wizard cop] entirely by accident. He's great at it, but he did not get there on purpose.

Harry is kind of vibing at this point. Post hogwarts he told the ministry and all its sections to fyck off and spent 2 years blowing shit up with luna. Now he invests in small businesses and hermiones charites and just finds small things that make him happy. (He also goes to therapy, bc without it he'd be as big a mess as draco.)

Ron is doing similarly to harry. He does a number of smaller things that he hops around and competitively plays chess. But he is also very put together and content with his life. Only partially due to hermione telling him he should ask her to marry him.

But anyway. The plot is a drarry romcom as they flail their way into a relationship through a series on (un)fortunate events. But, told mostly from hermione's point of view. And she does not understand how they are as dumb as they are.

Picture this. Hermione is sitting in her office eating cereal after her alloted biweekly all nighter. Draco slams open the door. He's ranting about how him and Harry accidently locked themselves in a closet together and Harry complimented his eyes or some shit. As it happens hermione is keeping a running commentary in her head mostly consisting of "how does one even accomplish that?" As she continues munching on her cereal.

Another scene, this time one of the few from draco's point of view. Hermione is acting insane, because the woman is terrifying when she's on a mission. He has stepped back to let her set people on fire as she pleases. She eventually tells him she'll take care of the paperwork and he should go talk to Harry. And then draco has a much needed talk about relationships and boundaries with his significant other.

I decided it would be funnier if all the characters have their turns to be absolutly bonkers but that only sane characters can narrate. We can't have harry and draco purposefully making the worst decisions for their relationship and have them explain their reasons in a complex and understandable way. That's too easy. Just like we can't have the totally 100% reasonable explanation for why hermione set those people on fire. The pov has to be swapped.

I'd also like to add that at some point harry brings up theoretical malfoy babies and it'll be revealed that hermione has already decided on the dates of conception as part of her 15 year plan. (She can't have them durring her field days without endangering them or taking extended time off,so she planned them around when she'll be transitioning from senior [I still can't remember what they're called] to more powerful but less dangerous political positions as she builds herself a strong platform for minister. She planned it by month. She'll get pregnant the month following her transition to administrative work, so she can announce it after a quarter of successful work. She'll have the second after her first turns 38 months so they won't have to deal with 2 toddlers at once and she won't have to be heavily pregnant durring the worst part of toddlerhood but they'll still be close enough in age to build a strong relationship.) Ron gets naming rights. He has the names picked out but is keeping them a secret. He very excitedly tells this to harry. He's looking forward to being a dad. (He's not quite ready yet, but he will be.)

I’ve wanted a fine ryuseitai event for the longest time bc Yuzuru’s friendship with ryuseitai never leaves my mind,, in jingle bells he says he had fun hanging out with them and he enjoyed the hero show in supernova :D basically I only care about the most niche and silly interactions in this game. the opposite of how it was meant to be enjoyed but it’s the secret to being filled with joyful glee. ANYWAYS I thought a variety show for the starpro idols that has unlimited potential by means of the Tenshouin fund could be fun. Yuzuru obviously doesn’t like a ton of attention and is just there to support Tori and get it done with (I mean. Maybe there’s like some kind of fighting/laser tag round he gets really into but for the most part he still sees himself as the least deserving of attention in fine and doesn’t make any scenes). However, in the starpro trivia section of the show, Midori keeps answering question after question right about yuzuru/fine (bc I feel like he might know that little trivia) which either picks up attention with the fans who question what is going on (if the show is live) or eichi + wataru notice and like to impose mischievous little plans on yuzuru. I think that either way through the powers of being in charge of the direction of the show those two get midoyuzu paired up for a ton of the games (I considered making one of the cards a pictionary game and ended up deciding against it but I still think it’d be silly). When drawing the last unbloomed, I had in mind them getting matched up for a lie detector game where they get to ask each other questions/the audience gets to send in questions. I didn’t think too much about what happened afterwards to be completely honest with you but it’d probably get yuzuru really flustered being 1. The center of attention 2. Target of whatever Midori wants to ask and 3. Having to actually be completely and utterly honest. And he’s just begging him to ask normal easy questions which midori obliges bc he doesn’t like all this attention either but then some crazy audience question comes in and then the rest is up to imagination bc I don’t want to end up mischaracterizing them or looking more delusional than I already have in this public post! but it would definitely end with them revealing/admitting something to each other that brings them closer together :>>

BACKSTORY

once upon a time, blueberry pie cookie was looking through the wizards journals, until she came across the journal filled with the wizards trials and errors in creating moonlight cookie. it was her favorite book, the one that she read most often by the small moonlit corner.

having gone this far in her duties, blueberry pie thought a bit of company wouldnt hurt.

curiosity winning over herself, she uses the journal as a recipe book to bake her own cookie. thus, bo-berry cookie was born in the image of moonlight cookie (obviously nowhere as powerful though. shes just a cookie thats baked using the wizards recipe)

bo-berry cookie grew up between the high, never-ending bookshelves in the archives, reading anything that caught her interest to pass the time. she was like her mother in some ways — curious and hungry for knowledge.

but the library wasnt enough for her. she wanted to explore the city. though each time she asked her mother, "can i go play outside?" she would always say no.

"we have a promise to keep, a duty to uphold. there is nothing left for you in the city, bo-berry cookie."

(she also mentions those stars roaming the streets. shed turn to crumbs if any of them caught her)

ever since then, bo-berry practiced illusion magic behind her mothers back, attempting to make herself go undetected or even invisible. one day, her hard work and practice came to fruition, and she escaped the archives without her mother knowing — only to find that the city is completely empty of cookies.

she decided it was better than the archives, though. she explores the empty abandoned buildings, scavenging for any interesting magical artefacts to play with. its technically not stealing if the owner left it behind, right?

shes lonely. no one else to talk to or play with. her mother was right, this city has nothing for her. but perhaps somewhere out there..

MAIN STORY

she joins the main trio and saves them from the biggest golden star from the graveyard while invisible and undetected.

and as he said that, wizard cookies hat was floating in the air, followed by an air of laughter before revealing herself to her. she hasnt met anyone to interact with for a good while, so she got a liiittle excited.

her mood quickly turned sour when gingerbrave explains that theyre headed to the archives. but ahe agrees to show them the way. she told herself she wasnt going to go in, but once she sees the book worms attacking them, she groans ("i cant let you cookies pathetically crumble here on your mission 🙄") and helps them through to the library.

she knows whats coming. its inevitable that shes going to face her mom again. ( scene in this short video its like 14 secs )

once gingerbrave and co are done with what they came here for, she was about to leave with them when blueberry pie stopped her.

another thing worth mentioning in this part is when stardust cookie destroyed the city of wizards. everyone was confused bc everything happened so fast, but upon mention of her mother still stuck in the archives, bo-berry immediately hopped on her staff and flew smartly between the falling stars to find her mother.

PARFAEDIA

after the events in the city of wizards episode, blueberry pie decided to let her daughter go. she cant keep her here for much longer, not when her place is out there in the world. so she sends her to parfaedia institute, where she can learn and grow as a magic enthusiast and a young cookie with other students her age.

she soon became friends with cream puff cookie and coffee bean cookie ( @deliberatingwthecookiecouncil's oc ! ). cream puff is an anxiety train, coffee bean is a sarcastic nerd, and bo-berry is a silly little menace. theyre perfect for each other.

such a strong desire for knowledge leads to bo-berry feeling like the structured education she receives in the institute is not enough. she craves for more magic in this world.

thus, she goes out of her dormitory at most nights to explore the magic city, knowing theres way more to this place. she uses her illusion magic to sneak in to houses, rummaging through their treasury for anything of use to her.

this soon becomes a thing she does at night, and more cookies seem to be aware of this mysterious thief. the m.e.h. department is also having trouble identifying the thief responsible for the disturbance. though, one cookie finally caught her in the act.

"hold on, you're not phantom bleu! but, no matter. i, detective walnut cookie, have caught you in the act, thief!"

I Think S3 Jancy's Goodbye Scene Tells Us How Mike Feels About Will

Buckle up girlies and get your yoga pants on cause this might be a stretch. But if it's actually right, I think it's really cool! ***LONG POST*** bc i cant stop being detailed. ***excuse the messy explanations****

Here's the TL;DR:

Jancy's emotional goodbye scene reveals Mike's inner thoughts for Will by using several parallels, including double lights and a reference to the "crazy together" scene. It's pretty basic, it just shows that Mike essentially deeply longs for and misses Will and that's what motivates his emotions.

Byler Scene + 1st Parallel

Okay, so to start off, we're looking at the characters' goodbye scenes as the Byers family moves out of their house at the end of season 3. In case you forgot, Mike and Will's very brief conversation goes like this:

M: "Dude, that's the donation box."

W: "I know. I was thinking I could just use yours when I come back. If we still wanna play.'

M: "But what if you wanna join another party?"

W: "Not possible"

That's it. Will walks off happily to the left of the screen, then it immediately cues to Jonathan walking left into the frame of the next scene. This is the first thing that tells us that maybe we should be comparing Will and Jonathan together throughout these two scenes, as well as the fact that they are both the ones who are moving out of the house (and that they're brothers, of course). Jonathan approaches his doorway and leans on the frame. What I would like to point out are the double lights behind him.

As he positions himself on the doorframe to the left, he moves to be directly in front of these lights. Double lights, from what I have seen, have come up in two more significant times throughout the show:

The fact that the double lights come up in both these scenes is initially what made me start to pay attention to them. They're especially significant because they're the lights that flash when Will says "see you tomorrow" to Mike -- the day he gets kidnapped into the upside down. Of course double lights on garages is common, but it's not as common indoors, especially in a house. They're definitely intentional.

And ,then in the second scene (s4) they're right behind Vecna (who has been paralleled with Will Byers) in a scene with Nancy (earlier in that scene, Nancy also has a moment where she's positioned in front of those double lights.). So now we know that, if I'm not being delusional, there's a connection between Will, Jonathan, Nancy, Mike, and Vecna/the upside down throughout these three scenes.

I AM GOING TO BE FOCUSING ON THE FIRST SCENE, WHERE WILL LEAVES MIKE AND THE LIGHTS FLICKER.

Let's briefly talk about that flickering lights scene. It's the very first sign that Will is in trouble, and it marks the very beginning of his relationship with the upside down. It's where all the pain started for Will, and therefore for Mike as well. My theory is that this symbol between the Season 3 Jancy scene and the Season 1 Byler scene means Jonathan and Nancy's dialogue here represents what Mike has been wishing he could say/have said to Will since that day he went missing. Ever since that one moment at the garage that started it all. Or better yet just the day he realized Will went missing /or/ thought Will was dead. Sounds confusing but it'll make sense soon. But it especially makes sense since, you know, this moving out scene is ALSO another moment where Mike and Will get physically separated for the second time since will's initial disappearance. It's just like a re-do of Byler's first garage/"it got me" scene. (And there's also the scene a few minutes later after this of Mike hugging his mom, which parallels and further establishes the connection to season 1 Mike when he does the same after he thinks Will is dead.). That may be a stretch, and if it is, I still believe that this Jancy scene is meant to reveal Mike and Will's feelings for each other at least in this moment, as they are separated and begin to move away physically.

Mike's Inner Thoughts + 2nd BIG Parallel

So, in order to check this theory, let's take a look at Jancy's actual dialogue here. Nancy follows Jonathan into the frame and asks

"Is that everything?" I absolutely have convinced myself that this is significant here. This is the first thing that is said. It's DIRECTLY after Will walks away from his convo with Mike that I wrote out above. Let me remind you that Will and Mike's goodbye scene was the shortest out of any of the friend groups/relationships'. It was very brief and didn't really have a sense of closure. Mike didn't even respond to Will, he just gave him a mysterious smile as Will walked away. So I think Nancy saying this here is narratively an effort to open up a deeper part of the conversation, that should have been an extension from Byler's conversation. "Is that everything you wanted to say?" --and then Jancy says what was on Byler's minds for them-- is what role her line plays here.

DIALOGUE

From here on, I just want you to imagine Nancy's dialogue as Mike's thoughts and Jonathan's dialogue as Will's thoughts, especially in the context of what Mike has constantly been feeling towards Will throughout his arc:

Jonathan: "I guess so. 17 years of my life, packed up in one day." --(a nod to leaving his childhood behind - just as Will's dnd book is - and possibly referencing how Will's childhood was taken away when kidnapped by the demogorgon)--

Nancy: *goes up behind J to hug him* "What if I just... don't let you go?"

Jonathan: "I think... the new owners might kick us out."

Nancy: "You could stay in our basement." Jonathan: "Your dad would love that."

Analysis: There's the theme of Nancy/Mike not wanting to let Will/Jonathan go here. It's so heart-wrenching. This just makes me really emotional, cause it's so emotional to begin with, but to imagine it as Mike's inner feelings to Will too... UGH. I'm just gonna say it, I lowkey CRIED AND THREW A FIT WHEN I FIRST IMAGINED IT. BUT SILENTLY CAUSE SOMEONE WAS SLEEPING IN THE OTHER ROOM XD. But...

There are a few similarities here: The basement is where Mike and Will felt like they could be themselves. The father would disapprove of their relationship. It's all the same.

"The new owners may kick us out" could mean several things, but I think it most likely means that if Mike didn't want to let Will go, meaning he wanted to stay close to him forever, society would see them together and judge and isolate them ("kick them out"). Or it could mean that Mike wishes he could have saved Will, maybe by not letting him leave (here goes another garage scene parallel in season 3 - "Will, come on, don't leave, it's raining" - Mike just wants to keep Will "home" because it's safe for him). But Will's capture was inevitable, the monsters would get him anyway, just as his pain and trauma getting a hold of him was inevitable, and society would make him feel like a mistake at some point in his life anyway, no matter what his best friend could do for him.

All of this just reiterates Mike's desire to keep Will in his life and his fear of letting him go, even if he doesn't show it right away.

DIALOGUE CONT'D

Nancy: "We could hide you in a tent. Like El."

*Nancy begins to Cry. *

At this point, it's not really so much about showing what's on Mike/Will's minds, but more so an explanation of their arc together.

It would be quite easy to say that, keeping in mind that Nancy parallels Mike here, this reflects Mike's feelings about El, but I have a completely different theory. Throughout the show, El represents Hope. Hope, sometimes, to the point of delusion. She also tends to fill people's empty hearts. We can see here that Nancy is being overly wishful, trying to provide the clearly unrealistic, bordering on childish, solution of keeping him in her basement in order to lessen the pain of losing the boy she's in love with. Sound familiar? I think this whole time, that's how Mike has felt about El and Will. He clung to El because of the hope she provided to him. She did the impossible for him. She helped bring his friend back and defeat the evil monsters (which represent pain/trauma/being in the closet.). But ultimately... his attachment to her is driven by the love he has for his best friend, and the desire to run away from the pain it causes him. That's a post for another time though lol, let's take a look at an EVEN BETTER part. BECAUSE IT'S AN ACTUAL SCENE PARALLELED WITH BYLER.

This next part is the most TELLING ONE:

Jonathan: "Hey. it's okay."

*JONATHAN TAKES NANCY'S HAND AND TRACES IT WITH HIS THUMB*

Jonathan - "As a wise man once said, we've got shared trauma." (perhaps a nod to Will the wise, even tho he's talking about Murray lolz).

*cuts to their faces then cuts back to their hands again*

Nancy: "So what's a little more, right?"

Jonathan: *kisses her hand* "What's a little more."

They then kiss and hug in front of the window and it zooms out.

This has probably been mentioned before and I haven't seen it bc I'm fairly new on tumblr, but this is literally like the crazy together scene you guys. There are so many similarities here. There's also the hand holding that actually parallels the scene where Mike says "we won't. we won't" to Will in season 2. But especially regarding the Crazy Together scene, there are two similarities here: the shared trauma/going crazy together, and then there's the fact that both the scenes mark the beginning of the two characters spiraling in different directions but, somehow, becoming closer as a result of it. (Nancy and Jonathan are moving farther apart physically, but somehow that's shared trauma? That's because them moving apart makes their two hearts ache in the same way, a way that nobody else seems to understand, which will ultimately be what connects them together despite the long distance. Then for Mike and Will in the Crazy Together scene, they are talking about going crazy for two slightly different, but similar reasons, reasons that in the future will split them apart, but somehow this drives them closer together, showing that no matter what causes them pain, they know that they can ultimately rely on being understood by one another, more so than by anybody else. Ugh and the fact that the Crazy Together scene happens directly after another Jancy scene where Jonathan puts Nancy in her bed?! And both those scenes are about one character taking the other character home so they can feel safe?! And Byler is in the basement which is mentioned by Nancy here?! And Mike took Will there after saying "let's take you home"?! And this scene is all about home?! It's happening. I'm believing everything I'm saying, and that's dangerous XD.)

The last thing I'd like to say is the soundtrack here is the tiniest bit reminiscent of "You're The Heart." (@ 2:30 and somewhat at the beginning) And it's called "You're a fighter." Take what you want from that. That could be pro m*leven if you want, unless you're like me and you think that Mike's monologue to El w/ You're the Heart playing in the BG was actually a reveal of his feelings for Will, esp given that, you know, the title of the score is named after what Will said to Mike to inspire him.

Also, as a disclaimer, I didn't want to diminish Jancy's relationship here, I love this scene on its own and what it means to Jancy, so sorry if it came across like I thought they were only important in relation to Byler, not my intention!

Spoiler free review, spoilers below cut

I just watched the School for Good and Evil movie and wow

Overall, I’m pretty disappointed. It was a fun watch, don’t get me wrong, it was fun picking out familiar characters and seeing them on screen, and the story is alright, but it just felt… lacking? Like most of the characters go unnamed, and it’s frustrating for people who have read the books and enjoy those side characters. The plot also felt very rushed. I watched it with my mom, who has never touched the books, and she said she felt like she was missing some context at certain parts, like some scenes and reasonings didn’t quite make sense yet.

And the CGI was pretty inconsistent? Like in some scenes it would be incredible and others it looked very… choppy? Idk, it felt like it was changing styles every two seconds.

However, I do think that despite the rough storyline (which is still alright) the actors did the best they could with what they were given. And the costumes were absolutely gorgeous.

There’s still a few nitpicky things but I don’t really feel like typing it all out cuz it’s late and I’m tired. ALTHOUGH I am going to rant about the characters and cut scenes from the book now, so spoilers below.

oh boy oh boy do I have complaints:

WHERE WAS THE WONDERFUL GORGEOUS AMAZING SCENE BETWEEN AGATHA AND DOVEY ABOUT AGATHA REALIZING SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL???? Reading that scene as a kid literally brought me to tears bc I was super self-conscious about myself, and it is my favorite scene in the entire series. AND ITS NOT THERE? 1568 wounded and 182 dead.

speaking of Agatha, while I love Sofia wylie, she was?? Too pretty?? like whenever the other characters would call her “witch” or “ugly” it just didn’t land bc she was literally gorgeous. And she blended in too well with the Evers, the whole point is she’s an outsider, she sticks out, but she fit right in. Wasnt goth enough :<

wth was the “blood magic” crap. Like huh

NO SWAN SYMBOLS ON UNIFORMS??? Like they even include the school insignia in the beginning, WHATS THE POINT IF THERES NO SWANS

while I can appreciate the chemistry that they gave tedros and agatha in the movie, I really wish that they had included more rivalry. Bc those two literally hated each other in the books.

Also Sophie talked about tedros being her “true love” for like two seconds and then it was pushed to the side. Like. He’s kinda the reason she goes full evil and all, but their relationship was just?? Nonexistent. Like she wears a few good outfits and suddenly their testing their love for each other in the trial by tale.

trial by tale was done DIRTY. Instead of being a massive school-wide competition between schools, they turned it into some flimsy tophie thing that literally only lasted like 10 minutes tops. That was such a big deal in the book pls

They were missing so many characters???? Like Castor and Pollux and Uma and the BEAST FROM THE DOOM ROOM WHICH IS A WHOLE OTHER RANT. Also a BUNCH of the characters just. Go unnamed. Like do they even introduce Kiko or Chad. And even the characters who are seem so bland and forgettable.

also anadil and dot seemed way too similar. And Hester’s character was inconsistent. Also dot not being played by a larger actor lowkey bugs me.

I know they kinda revealed what happens to failed students but not revealing that theyre the werewolves and fairies was so disappointing.

I cant believe we didn’t get Sophie singing T^T it’s not a big issue, but I still wanted to include it bc Sophia ann Caruso (her actor) was literally ON BROADWAY. My girl can SING. LET HER SHOW OFF.

Honora being mean to Sophie rubbed me the wrong way. Like she’s supposed to be a very plain and nice woman, and I felt like Sophie still disliking her despite that gave Sophie’s character more depth

WHERE. ARE. THE. DREAMS. The nemesis dreams, Agatha’s true live dreams, WHERE ARE THEY? they could have helped explain so much for why Sophie was just suddenly like “oh yeah you’re my nemesis” and tedros declaring his love. Also they DIDNT talk about nemesis symptoms at all. At least that I remember. It felt so random when Sophie started turning into the witch.

After Nezuko was kidnapped because you know WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS in this fandom without something tragic hurting us.

And look as much as I would love a ZenNezu story about zenitsu mustering up the Courage to save her. NO! This is for family feels so F the romance plot.

Tanjirou is devastated his baby sister went missing and so where his parents the king and queen. So after many talkings Tanjirou wished to go find his sister. His parents would never allow that because that’s their only child left!!!!

After Nezuko’s disappearance the king and queen decided to have no more kids as scared they would also be stolen. (Did I nerf the other siblings Bc I don’t know how else to include them? Yes I did but so did Gotouge)

Tanjirou disliked the idea of not being able to help his sister and as the stubborn person he is, he pulled a Mulan(left without word in the middle of the night) around the age of 12 to go look for his sister.

Tanjirou didn’t know how majorly he screwed up until he realized the real word hard TM but he pulls this I am the first son mantra and continues on his way like a big boy.

And because he isn’t really a big boy he is found by Urokodaki a lone traveler who brings him home and asks Tanjirou if he’s alright.

Tanjirou says no and explains his situation ans urokodaki listens saying he should go back to his family. Tanjirou disagrees because he can’t go home empty handed.

Tanjirou says he will leave the next day but Urokodaki can’t leave a child in need alone so he asks tanjirou if he can even defend himself.

And obviously baby boy can’t do Urokodaki reveals he was a former palace guard and decides to teach Tanjirou about swordsman ship.

(If you can’t get guess, yes all the pillars are royal palace guards)

As the years pass the king and queen are looking for not only mourning their daughter but looking for their son.

Muzan is none the wiser that the prince has gone missing busy making sure to raise Nezuko under him best he can. Usual parental manipulation tactics.

After tanjirou beats Urokodaki in a spar like years later he continues on his way.

This is where he meets Inosuke a thief who’s had to steal since young. Tanjirou tries to reason with him saying it’s wrong and inosuke is still feral but they both get caught and wanted posters get out up of both them.

Later along the way they encounter Zenitsu who was found crying on the side of the road for owing money to some debt collectors.

The three join forces stopping others who steal (but getting caught returning artifacts so they’re seen like thieves)

Inosuke complains Bc they should keep it and zenitsu agrees while tanjirou doesn’t.

Life goes on and

~time skip~

It is Nezuko’s 18th birthday and she wants to go see the floating lanterns. Despite asking ofc her father (Muzan) says no and she’s upset.

Muzan sings- (pfft imagine him singing) Muzan just lectures her on it saying she’s too old for nonsense and he expects better.

Nezuko agrees and asks for some v rare bread she liked. Muzan said that it’s long away travel and Nezuko does that thing 🥺

And Muzan agrees because if it’ll shut a child up and departs .

The castle scene is the three idiots trying to place the crown back when they get caught and running after their lives being chased by sanemi and giyuu. (Why this pair specifically? I ship them leave me alone.)

They’re cornered until tanjirou falls into the hidden leaves hiding the tower and drags both of them in.

They climb tower and are promptly knocked out. Cue a crow squawking at them to wake up.

And look Tanjirou doesn’t recognize her because she was baby and you might be like (why did he go search for her then!?!) well does Tanjirou look like he plans things through? He’s jump first think along the way.

Anyways, they all try to pacify her and nezuko settles down saying she’ll give them back the crown if they take her to see the lanterns. And well they agree.

After this the plot mostly follows the same 😗

The part where they escape the tavern and are bonded by her hair shocks all of them

Oh! They are found by giyuu but when Tanjirou fights him giyuu recognizes the fighting style and asks if he knows Urokodaki. Tanjirou nods and giyuu says he’ll help.

The two goons after all five of them are Douma and Enmu. (I’d never want those two to interact actually but here we are)

Some ZenNezu plot does happen with nezuko having doubts and zenitsu comforting her as they continue.

During the boat scene Giyuu stays behind while the four of them get on and enjoy some peace. With all of them saying if nezuko has finished one dream it just means it’s time for a new one.

Nezuko smiles and confesses she’s had the crown all along. They all say they don’t care and they’re happy she’s with them.

cue boat docking Nezuko wandering off to talk to Muzan and the three getting kidnapped and shipped back to the castle.

Cue realization of who nezuko is.

And cue Tanjirou confessing he’s the prince in the cells while giyuu helps with can escape plan.

Tanjirou goes to save nezuko and overhears yelling from the bottom of the tower because please.

Tanjirou yelling for nezuko more desperate than ever now knowing he’s found his sister.

Muzan killing Tanjirou but Muzan falling down and dying.

Nezuko resurrecting Tanjirou and both going home to their family safe and sound.
